Please excuse any noob questions as I'm a noob. I'm looking for a radio with versatility. Using it on my 4x4 off-road vehicle that will have a President Lincoln II+ ham radio equipped. I want to be able to access as many channels as possible in this vehicle, on and off-road. I picked the McKinley because it has SSB. I was looking at the president Randy II FCC for my other road vehicle- since that has FM, would it be ideal that I just carry that along in my off-road vehicle as needed to access these FM channels if needed? Can I tap in to my off-road vehicle antenna with the Randy II in case I need better range on these FM channels? My last general question is- will anyone even be using AM channels now that FM is available?

Arriving in town about 5:00 this evening, 3/20, staying the night, then back on the road at about 10:00 tomorrow morning.
So, places for dinner this evening, breakfast in the morning. Looking for âonly in Santa Feâ type places, places locals love for flavor, atmosphere.
And shopping; because why not! Window shopping, gallery looking, small gifts for family and friends.
Older travelers, but energetic and capable. Planning on a walk through town, good food, fun shopping, etc.

My 22 month Belgian Malinois started to throw up Saturday. The vomit had a lot of mucus. He had diarrhea and now itâs just blood coming out his anus. As far as I know he hasnât got into anything. He had a water Buffalo cheek in a strip. He ran outside with it a couple days ago and left it out there. He was chewing on that and perhaps he swallowed a large piece of it. But they are supposed to be highly digestible. He is full vaccinated. He was doing wonderfully except for an infection last year in May. They said kidney infection. May have been caused by parasites. But since he was treated for that heâs been perfectly fine. He hasnât vomited yet today but blood still coming out his anus. I am trying to feed him pumpkin and rice and pedialyte but hasnât had much of it. He grabbed a very small piece of weiner and a tiny bait treat and gobbled that done. I live remote in Northern Manitoba. No emergency vet service. I called a few in Winnipeg. They said what to feed him is about all. Canât say more without seeing him. I couldnât get in to the local vet. The vet does very basic stuff. Has no staff or hardly any. They all quit. Basically she does the bare minimum, charges an arm and a leg and says take him to Winnipeg. Thatâs a 1,500 Km round trip on treacherous roads. I canât drive that by myself in winter. Due to medical issues I shouldnât drive that far myself even in summer because it will cause me to barely be able to walk. Long story but something is wrong with my feet. Iâm super stressed.

I'm currently kind of trapped in a cycle of repeatedly starting a book and then getting distracted by college work for so long that it doesn't feel right for me to pick up the book again from whatever last point I left off on. So I'd like to hear about some stories that I can enjoy from beginning to end in a single day.
As far as themes or genre I don't have much of a preference, I guess whatever you think would be a nice break for a terminally sleep deprived college student.
For a general idea though out of all the stories on the shorter side I've read in the last few months I especially enjoyed The Road by Cormac McCarthy, Blame! by Tsutomu Nihei, The Wall by Jean-Paul Sartre, Mud-Sludge by Q Hayashida, and oddly enough The Direction Of The Road by Ursula K. Le Guin (An image of tree having an existential crisis isn't something you get to read everyday). Oh and I swear the straightforward titles are just a coincidence.

2023.03.20 17:52 Raru_57 Just noticed a nice little detail when Ats is asking to shot.
On my 4th watch-through (rookie numbers I know) and I just noticed in Season 1 Ep 6 'Press Gang' when Ats is asking Kieron to shot for Summerhouse, Kieron tells him no and that he's 'Not tough enough for road.' When Ats keeps persisting Kieron calls him Ats showing he knows who Ats is and tells him to go home before he tells his mum. To me, this felt like Kieron knew how dangerous it was shotting and didn't want a young lad like Ats getting into that life. This is a minor detail I know but I liked it as it gives us a glimpse into Kierons mindset and perspective when he already is a majorly overlooked character the show does nothing with except have him in a few scenes here and there. Would love to see him drift into a more important role for the final season.

So I have an apartment in Hoover. Nothing fancy, off Lorna road. Its just me, my cat, and dog. I currently work full-time making around 42k/year before taxes. When I moved in to my apartment in Jan 2020, my rent was $843 for a 2 bedroom. Fast forward to 2023 and its $1000+ due to gradual rent increases every lease. It's even more expensive for new tenants. Considering that most apartments want you to make 3-4x the rent, how in the world are you surviving? I'm door dashing on the side to make some extra cash after working during the day. Is it worth looking into getting a house or will I face the same challenges? I want to stay in a quiet(ish), but SAFE area. It also makes me wonder about individuals on fixed incomes... What are you doing to navigate the cost of housing in 2023?

I was thinking about how much nostalgia this band gives me and I realized it felt like that since I started listening to them. I was born in the high desert of Oregon and I found their songs when I was living in the dullest and darkest time of my life and if brought me back there to a time I canât even remember, back to that place, where it was wild and vast and adventure existed. These songs traveled with me to leave home for the first time when I was newly 19 and they saw me explore the lonely country roads of West Virginia through early mornings and rainy afternoons, all the way into the Colorado Rockies where I am continually and blissfully getting lost in the wilderness. Long lost gave me back my love for the woods and Ghost on the shore has been the anthem of my life for nearly 4 years now. These songs are embedded with some kind of drug, Iâm positive, and listening to them again reminds me of the summer I grew up, and the adventure of a lifetime exploring the wild with my husband now. God bless this band, seriously.

My husband and I have been together for 6 years. His nephew (Iâll call K - 6)has always been difficult to be around.
He screams CONSTANTLY from 4am - 6pm every day and constantly hits his younger sisters (twins). One time we all met for coffee and he started to run into the road, I ran and grabbed him and he bit my neck as I picked him up and had an awful bruise.
He was asked to leave 2 nurseries because he seriously hurt other children and he was also expelled from his first primary school for poor behaviour.
The family and teachers had said to SIL and BIL to have him tested for ADHD, autism, etc multiple times - but they always got offended and refused saying he was just high energy.
The twins are also having issues now because they are so tired all the time having had K keep them awake most nights - theyâre often quiet, cranky and struggle to make friends at nursery. Theyâre also clearly frightened of their brother and hide when he comes in the room. Weâve offered to let them have sleepovers at ours for a few nights to give them a break but itâs never taken up on.
Cut to now - his new school had also had enough of him and said get him tested or he was expelled - SIL&BIL relented - and it turns out he has one of the worst cases of ADHD theyâve seen and also possible bipolar disorder as well.
SIL was beside herself - understandably - but acted like she had no idea this was a possibility. The rest of us were glad he is finally going to get treatment and his sisters can get some sleep.
That was until SIL and BIL said they had done their own research and they werenât going to look at meds, therapy - basically any of the doctor recommended treatments - they were just going to make sure he had âstructureâ at home and that was going to fix the issue.
She then presented a ârotaâ for us all to take turns looking after K each week so they could home school him and he would have more one on one time and structure - we were all expected to sit with him on the days where they had to work. My partner and I work from him so we were just expected to have him at our house for 2 days a week or weekends.
We just stared at them from across the table for what felt like an hour and my husband eventually chimed in with âwhat the f*** is wrong with you?â - this culminated in a screaming match, which ended with me telling SIL & BIL they need to get a grip, theyâre treating their daughters like crap, and theyâre stopping their son from getting the treatment they need and depriving him of the chance to have a normal life - essentially that they were bad parents and they wouldnât get and help from us till they sorted their s*** out soon. My husband also said if they kept going the way they planned, he would call social services because all three kids deserved better.
MIL & FIL have said - while they agree in principle - calling them bad parents at a time when they need support was too far and we should apologise/compromise till they come around.

I passed my driving test more than half a year ago. Iâve now come to the realisation I am bad at cornering. As in the normal turning left/right from a main road into a side road, or at a traffic light junction where the light is green so I am not forced to stop before turning.
Where I live there are a number of very tight corners (tighter than 90 degree) on hills and with moderately heavy traffic. Some are practically U turns. I tend to go too wide at these corners. The only way I feel comfortable doing these corners is if I brake and put my clutch down, and then lift the clutch as I am cornering. Many of these corners are on hills, using the clutch gives me a sense of control. Although I am aware I am not suppose to do this.
I am also conscious about the speed I approach the corner at. With how tight they, I want to go slow. At the same time I donât want to slow down the traffic behind. My other concern is the speed I am comfortable with is often tittering between the boundary of 1st and 2nd gear. I might be able to do around the corner at the lower end of 2nd gear, but once I am on the side road I am going uphill, which at that low speed in 2nd gear my car struggles. If I did the whole corner in 1st gear though I will be too slow. This is why I ended up dropping my clutch to drake and using the clutch up for the power uphill

2023.03.20 17:41 BillyBurl1998 Please help me improve my improve and decision making. Was I to harsh or not harsh enough?
So I ( a fairly new dm who's only run about 10 different sessions ) just started running a new campaign for a party of 5 yesterday and it didn't go as expected. I want to improve on my ability to roll with the flow and not rail road my players, but want the world to feal realistic and for their actions to have consequences. While not being overly harsh on them. So please tell me honestly how you think I did. I'm the only Dm in my friend group and need unbiased criticism to improve.
So we're running LMoP and three of my players have played this campaign before back in 2019 and the other 2 players are new players. So it started off normal enough they kill the goblins that ambush them in the road. All is well in good so far but instead of going after Sildar and Gruden they decided to go to town first to find out for sure if they were captured or made it to town as well as to in their words "Get that bag" for delivering the cart so they don't have to haul it around. Which was fine and made for some fun early game role play.
They deliver the cart to Barthens Provisions, go to the Stonehill Inn and overhear about the orc problem from a Dwarven prospector, and then decide to rest for the night. In the morning they stop by the town hall to talk with the Mayor about getting paid to find Gruden and Sildar instead of getting paid for the orcs since Grudens mine will be good for the town "taxes in the mayor's pocket" but they let the Goliath barbarian with 7 charisma to do the talking and only get offered have their food and rooms at the Inn payed for if they bring him back. (This was an accident because they weren't listening to the Goliath player pleading for someone else to do the talking). Upon arriving at the cave entrance our Goliath stealthily makes his way up to the entrance and gets a surprise attack on the 2 goblin guards executing them before they can react Solid Snake style.
This is where the bad luck / decision making starts. They decided to one by one stealth up to the wolves in the kennel and just argue about what to do next infront of the wolves while ignoring them. While they do this I end up rolling to see if they break their chain and all 3 do at the same time attacking all 5 characters while they're in the narrow cave entrance. A straight up knife fight in a phone booth breaks out. The front two players are knocked unconscious and they kill 2 wolves and severely wound the third. Then our warlock shoots and edritch blast which misses flying down the cave under the bridge and blasting the cave wall sending a booming echo through the whole cave system. Needless to say I felt there was no way in hell the goblins did not see and hear that shit and set off their water trap and washed them out of the cave. So they now revive the two unconscious players who I mercifully didn't kill and run into the forest half way between the main road and the cave and hide for a short rest.
Now this is the part where I may have gone hard on them but I assumed if they get a short rest the bad guys do to, and they're is no way in hell they are not going to go up security and set traps. So, when they return I have two goblins hide in the bushes outside the cave but roll shitty, so the player leading the party sees the goblins and they kill them without issue. They then have the warlock stealth up to the kennel where they see a goblin guard tending to the remaining wounded wolf from earlier and they try and eldritch blast it I feel bad for earlier so I give them advantage and they still miss sending another loud blast through the cave. They kill the 2 enemies and have the Goliath climb up to the garbage hole in the back of the kennel where he sees the bug bear pacing by the fire and barking orders. I tell them that the hole is tight and everyone can squeeze through except the giant because his shoulders are to broad to fit through what's essentially a garbage shoot not a subway tunnel. (Please tell me if this sounds fair I know it's not in the book but it make sense since I get the feeling this was meant to be a small opening and not a full blow entrance)
At this point they are all scared of the bug bear and don't want to split up so decide to go down the main tunnel to avoid leaving the Goliath player out of the fight. But since they have already alerted everyone in the cave that they're under attack I have two goblins on either side of the bridge waiting for them. They sent their human paladin with no dark vision up front so I have the goblins get sneak attack and shoot arrows at him and then a short combat starts. One is killed by the Goliath throwing his hand axe for a critical hit and the other runs to alert the Bugbear. By this point they are all spooked thinking the Bugbear knows they're coming, and by the fact they don't having any more healing (though they're all at high or full health after their short rest) and decided to bail back to town and come back tomorrow. But before they leave they cut off the heads of all the goblins they killed to prove their bravery to the mayor and left one head on a stake at the cave entrance to scare the goblins.
When they return the mayor's is obviously not happy they haven't exactly been successful and now Gruden and Sildar are going on 3 days missing and implies they are cowardly for not confronting the Bugbear. In return they call the Mayor fat and lazy and get themselves kicked out. They then try and recruit the ex adventure who owns the apple orchard to help them fight the bugbear who turns them down due to his age but he informs them about the ruffians in town and of the stuff going down at the old owl well.
The next day they go back to the hideout multiple traps have been laid along the way which the get through mostly fine after the Goliath fell into a pit which he easily climbed out of. At the cave entrance they find find the head of the goblin replaced with the head of Sildar. This devastates our two paladins but rest seem to care less because "He was only a bodyguard anyway and we can still get paid for finding Gruden." ( I felt this was necessary once they left the head on the stake since the bad guys would be pissed after being attacked 2 days in a row and having their allies bodies mutilated. Also just because the players leave doesn't mean time stops and their actions or in this case inaction have consequences. ) They explore the cave, and at this point its full of traps but abandoned only a few casts of oil to heavy for the goblins remain.
The players return to the town and talk with the Mayor who tells them that the goblins most likely retreated to Crag Maw Castle their local strong hold. After discussing it they feel they're in over their heads and decided to take care of the ruffians and deal with the castle later. The session ended and all my players said the had a blast. Although I was shitting bricks for most of the session since I was not ready for them to do all that. I thought they were going to go to hide out kill the bug bear and wrap it up there.
Now that my novel is over (thank you for reading) I have a few questions. Everything after they were washed out of the cave was improved my me and unscripted. Was I to hard or to soft? How can I improve my ability to roll with the punches and how much should I read ahead before each session. Also I didn't want to kill them and fudged a few die rolls during the wolf fight because I didn't want a tpk with 2 new players. If they do something similar next time to I take the training wheels off or keep going gentle. And what should the consequences of not going to Crag Maw Castle be?

I need this question answered in order that I can confirm I am not going mad, Maybe my suspicions about my partner 'could' be lying to me will be confirmed or there is a simple answer.
My partner was due to come over at an agreed time, when they had not arrived at the time (which was out of character) I immediately became suspicious. I waited patiently then after 15 minutes drove to the station as I have done previously to try and intercept them. I parked at the stop of the road where I would see them walk down the hill ( or so I thought ) I didn't see them leave the station and continued to wait. I texted and there was no response. I called and there was no response.
After about 10 minutes I saw them walking on the corner of my road toward the station ( as though they had come from my house) I was speechless as I had not seen them pass. I had not been texting or diverted on the phone. My immediate thought was that 'they had been dropped off by someone'. A booty call? A 'mate'? My mind went into over drive. Something just did not sit right. I did ask them and they said they had come from the station and i must have missed them. Im like ......... 'Hmmmmm''
Anyway I happen to have a Ring Alarm which records people, motion etc. I checked thinking all will be resolved as they will show up coming to my door. Nothing. The period of when they 'said they had been at my door has no recording'. They are adamant they came to my house, knocked and stood at my door. The Ring alarm did NOT pick up anything,. I am convinced they are lying and are hiding something and yes this is a new relationship. Is there any way the alarm could of missed picking up 'Motion' and not recorded. I am kind stressed wanting to believe but by not seeing and evidence and struggling with believing.
Help!! Any advise please? Can the alarm have not picked them up and if so why? I dont want to think as I am but this just doesnt add up and it is affecting what I think about someone who I want to trust.
I have contacted Ring and they have said the camera should record 'motion'. I am so confused
