Note, this will include major story spoilers for ToTK and likely other Zelda games
Before I say anything, I want to clarify that I absolutely loved Tears of the Kingdom. I went into the game completely blind, only having seen the very first trailer and luckily avoiding any major spoiler content of gameplay or story. This game was incredible to me and every step of the way I was super interested in how the story would develop and connect to other things. Now that I have finished the game and watched the final cutscenes, having completed all Main Story quests, there are a few things left open, unanswered, or avoided that definitely add a bit of disappointment. No game is perfect, obviously, but in my opinion, a few small changes would have made things feel a bit more satisfying when playing through the story.

1. The least significant, but still apparent, is the disconnect between this story and other Zelda games. From a surface view, you would expect this to be the Ganondorf we all know and love/hate, connected directly to Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, etc. But this cannot be the case. In some sense, the Dragon Tear cutscenes could be seen as a 'retelling' of Ocarina of Time as there are many similarities and clear references, such as Ganondorf's vow of fealty to the king of Hyrule. And it's very clear that the opening of the game is nudging you hard by using Rauru's name out of context to make you think of the original Sage of Light. But all of these are references, nothing more. This is a completely different Ganondorf, and this Hyrule is a completely different Hyrule. Now like I said before, this isn't that significant of a critique. It's a little disappointing to be nudged by the game over and over with very distinct references to past games and then have them not be significant at all, but it wasn't that impactful.
2. What I think is much more significant is the disconnect between this story and its predecessor, Breath of the Wild. There is a big difference between having a disconnect within the whole series and having a huge gap when this is the direct sequel. An ambiguous amount of time has passed between the two that is never stated. The world has changed but not that much. The castle is still ruined, there's plenty of recovery still ongoing, but the exact time since the Calamity is never stated as far as I'm aware even though this would be a very burning question on everyone's mind, not to mention how long it was between the Upheaval itself and when Link wakes up- because this seems to be quite a while as well given that Kakariko is already a tourist attraction with the Ring Ruins. No comments of 'Link, you and Zelda have been missing for X time' or anything along those lines, it's glossed over even though it feels like it would be significant information to learn. The total time from BoTW seems to be 'about 6-10 years or so' given Maddison's seeming age, but it's never clear what was before the upheaval and what was after. In addition, there are some very big oddities in how the story connects to Breath of The Wild. There is a school teaching about the very real Calamity that just happened, but the students have to be given proof of the events. So they were not alive or aware during the events, and their parents or townsfolk don't mention it at all? Not to mention that almost all signs of shiekah tech, the shrines, Divine Beasts, Guardian corpses, etc have all but vanished with no trace whatsoever. The only designs that are similar seem to be nods to the last game such as the Ancient Blade items. I would be perfectly okay with any kind of handwave of this information like 'The divine beasts disappeared after their energy was spent on defeating Calamity Ganon' or 'The Shrines and Towers buried underground again since their task was complete' etc etc, but there's nothing at all, so much so that it seems on purpose. Finally, the way that characters interact with Link, the hero that just saved literally the whole world not that long ago, is really weird. A ton of people don't recognize him that should, while others do? The clearest example is Hudson and Bolson. Hudson and Rhondson recognize and are appreciative toward Link as he canonically helped with Tarrey Town it seems, but the other individuals in Tarrey Town don't seem to acknowledge him at all. And Bolson in Lurelin Village doesn't even acknowledge their connection at all even though Link canonically bought a house from him, shared it with Zelda, and helped his worker create the biggest construction company in Hyrule. I get that the game has to be a little bit welcoming towards new players but the way it is handled is really odd. It gives the sensation that this is some kind of alternate universe or some timeline shenanigans have occurred from Zelda's time jump, but the fact that all of it is realized through empty space and nothing is pointed out specifically is really odd. The complete disappearance of Kass save for a small reference is also an oddity. It makes me think they'll pull out a Champion's Ballad style DLC to answer a lot of these questions, which would make me a bit frustrated given how they're kind of significant.
3. Finally is the disconnect between ToTK's self-contained story and its open ended gameplay. This one is really hard to fix without making drastic changes to the game, so really it is just a flaw with telling a very focused story in such an open, free game. The story pushes you in very specific direction, but a lot of the time has no way of recovering if you break its order leaving a lot of question marks until you hit a certain story flag and realize 'oh, I had to do this first.' As an example, I did a lot of the Geoglyphs really early because I was very interested in how the story would develop and realized about halfway through that Zelda was the Light Dragon. Once I got all the stories I acquired the Master Sword, and the whole sequence was absolutely beautiful. I Also found Mineru and the Spirit Temple before completing a few other Sages purely on accident. I flew into the thunderdome, missed my mark, and stumbled through the darkness only to find myself on the end of the island chain, where I activated the sequence and went along with the story until I got Mineru's vow. It was amazing and I was in awe that there was this secret 5th dungeon hidden outside the path of the story. However, since I did these two things 'out of order', it caused a lot of weirdness with the story sequence. For example, I was frustrated with the situation in Kakariko and not being able to access the Ring Ruin because Link already knows where Zelda is and that this Zelda is an imposter. Even without the Master Sword sequence, it feels like Link is a total dummy for essentially chasing around Puppet Zelda with the expectation that she's real when we are shown over and over again through the memories and the Sage sequence that she is in the past. Now obviously, none of this matters if you play through the game in its intended progression, but that's really hard to do in an open world game a lot of the time? I was expecting that after the 4 Sages, I would take the fight to Ganon, so I avoided Hyrule Castle once I completed that sequence until I was ready. Little did I know that I had to go through Hyrule Castle first to progress the story enough to unlock the Ring Ruins and find the proper story sequence for Mineru (Which was a really hilarious sequence given the fact that she was there the whole time in robot form listening to Purah and the others figure out there's a 5th sage.) I did my best to follow the story without breaking anything, and it felt like my knowledge and Link's knowledge were significantly different in a way that felt too big to ignore, which nagged at me for the latter half of the playthrough.

Overall, this game is incredible and a huge achievement in both a self-contained Zelda story and open world exploration game, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on certain aspects that I believe could have been touched on a bit more. None of them ruined my enjoyment of the game, but for a lot of my playtime I was expecting certain things given its nature as a sequel that were left open by the end, which was weird. I would be very interested to hear people's thoughts both positive and negative- hearing other perspectives or theories is always a fun time. Thanks for reading!

District 8
Hermosa Romular and Juan Torres stood in front of the bowls, and both seemed a bit antsy.
Hermosa looked up at a peacekeeper, who nodded, before reaching her hand into the female bowl. Hermosa removed the name of seventeen year old Cambrica Strange. A scream of horror was heard as a girl with blonde curly hair and blue eyes walked to the stage. Cambrica tearfully shook Hermosa’s hand. Cambrica worked in a rug factory, and still attended school as well.
Juan then selected a slip of paper from the male bowl, and called out the name of Sheath Murdoch. A sound was heard from the fifteen year old sector as a boy with brown hair and brown eyes walked to the stage, and shook Juan’s hand. Sheath worked in a denim factory.
In the town hall, Cambrica was visited by her older brother, Beige. She cried as Beige rattled off as much advice as he could, and she was soon taken away.
Sheath was visited by his parents, and younger brother Spot. Sheath told his parents the location of some money he had hidden, before being taken to the train.
On the train, Cambrica and Sheath met their mentor, Coutura Bell, who had sworn to stay on as mentor until a victor won. She taught Cambrica and Sheath how to throw knives, but informed them that their odds were low, as they were from a weaker District. Both had determination in their eyes.
Coutura continued to train the two at the apartment, and as the parade was now cancelled, no stylist was due to visit.
The next day, Coutura showed District 1’s reaping, claiming that District 1 also produced some fashion.
District 1
Hermosa and Juan were now in District 1, and Hermosa reached into the female bowl, removing the name of twelve year old Rubie Jones. Loud screaming was heard before hand was thrust into the air and a voice volunteered. A girl with long golden curls of hair and blue eyes walked to the stage, and shook Hermosa’s hand. The young lady introduced herself as seventeen year old Elle Jones, the older sister of Rubie.
Juan then reached into the male bowl, and chose the name of eighteen year old Carnelian Fontaine. A gasp was heard as a tall, muscular male with ebony skin and shaved black hair walked to the stage, and shook the hand of Juan.
In the town hall, Elle was visited by her sister Rubie, and two older brothers, Lord and Scabal. She tearfully hugged all three of them, and promised to try and return.
Carnelian visited with his two younger sisters, Morgan and Pratima, and his younger brother, Glint. Carnelian promised to try and win and return with the prize money in order to support his family, before being taken to the train.
On the train, Amethyst Taylor (Game 3) was already drunk when the two tributes entered the corridor. Amethyst was now 25, and she asked the two several personal questions about their families, and appeared sympathetic to them.
She asked them to show her their skills, and watched the two throw spears, giving occasional advice. Carnelian had to help Amethyst off the train upon arrival at Snow Station.
Training
Elle and Carnelian threw spears at targets, and appeared to try and ignore Marcia and Julianus (both 2) who tried to tease them. Meanwhile Cambrica and Sheath threw knives, and watched Computia and Circ (both 3) work with tasers.
Bayla and Marius (both 4) swam in the pool, while Neela (5) and Surry (6) worked in the camouflage station. Mahogany (7) worked hard throwing axes, while Rya and Chive (both 9) hid in the cultivation station. Lucio (10) and Rosalita (11) exchanged information in the plant station, while Jim (12) worked in the medical station.
Assessments
Elle scored a 9 for a spear throwing display, while Carnelian scored a 10 for one that was slightly better. Cambrica and Sheath both scored 7s for knife throwing displays.
Other strong scores included Marcia (2) scoring a 9 and Julianus (2) also scoring a 10, while Computia (3), Marius (4) and Mahogany (7) scored 8s.
The weaker scores included Neela (5) and Rya (9) scoring 3s.
Odds
Elle had odds of 4 to 1, while Carnelian had odds of 3 to 1. Cambrica and Sheath had odds of 8 to 1.
Interviews
Euphemia Demigloss was back again, and she wore a pretty orange dress. Elle was up first, and she answered questions about her life in District 1, before steering the conversation over to her family. Elle spoke of how she volunteered for her sister Rubie, because Rubie was too young and innocent to compete.
Carnelian spoke of needing to support his younger siblings, and how he took tesserae. Tears filled his eyes as he spoke of just wanting to return home.
Cambrica tearfully discussed her family, and how she missed them and wanted to return home to them, no matter that.
Sheath took the time to talk about his knife throwing skills, and warned the audience to expect the unexpected.
Game Maker Juliana Ricci was the last to be interviewed, and she gave her clue word, which was “fire”.
Tube Rooms
The next day, after arriving at the arena, the tributes were taken to their tube rooms.
Amethyst visited Elle first, and told the girl to try her best to win for her sister, before telling Carnelian to try and win for his siblings.
Coutura told Cambrica and Sheath both to grab a backpack and run.
Once all 24 tributes were in their tubes, they rose up into the arena.

I do really want to reiterate that I’m here for the long haul. We have worked very hard on this friendship, and lazy gossip does not have the right to take away a beautiful friendship.
Life involves a lot of jokes and humor. We’re having fun in a certain way playing Reddit for Men, right? It’s an experience that probably no human being on earth has ever had before. It’s hot to get my entire account deleted out of existence by you lol. It’s probably pleasurable to push whatever button you at times push to trigger some of these deletions. Just—it’s possible to laugh and joke so hard that you break a very precious glass vase.
Our friendship is a very precious glass vase to me and much more than that. I love you so much, platonically. October 1 is about 4 months away from now. I’m looking forward to the anniversary of when we met so much. This is one of the most special friendships I have ever had in my life. Let’s both breathe deeply please and try to calm down and be patient.
I love you so much dude, and it was really important to me to put the book I was reading down, come back downstairs and tell you that.
Right now, I’m experiencing a lot of what it feels like to be working class. Or to have a lot of your money going toward other stuff. I would a thousand times over so what I did this spring for you, and you and your situation are the only person/case in life that I would probably ever do this for. I still pray to St. Patrick for you about once an hour.
I hope we both have great days, and great summers. If the book I’m reading seems too toxic*, I’m going to put it down altogether and read something else or do something else. Play lacrosse. Run. Might go down to the kosher dairy and get some hash browns + play around more in the library exhibit I made in honor of us. Might go to the beach and read. Not sure.
*It’s a book I read after my breakup with Ku Kn, but my therapist had commented that it was not a good book, and I agree it’s basically marketed to people with my diagnosis to give us easy, comforting answers. If you were to read it too you could easily apply it to me and maybe I’ll find a way to share the Kindle with you.
Eventually I’m going to be rehabilitated and get back on my feet. The $70/hour job is in Woonsocket, the town my barber used to teach me how to speak in a Rhode Island accent. If I just think about the way she taught me to say Woonsocket, everything else just kicks into gear. Lol.
I have this optimistic hope that October 1 will hit and we’ll have made a lot of progress this summer. I can’t emphasize enough that life is dangerous and it’s possible for a joke to result in the loss of very treasured relationships. We really should not play games with something so special that we’ve both worked so hard on. Although Reddit for Men with you is one of the top 10 fun experiences of my life, lol. So thanks for that. This summer, together with working on please master, the DBT skill I described as create in yourself the qualities you desire in others, I’m also just really interested in preserving this friendship. I talk about high school so much because the experience I have had in TMN so thoroughly reminds me of my high school. That’s not meant to be an insult necessarily. My high school was ranked number 99 on Newsweek’s list of top 100 high schools in 2005 lol. And the principal made this big banner like "one of America’s top 100 high schools." Yeah…number 99, lol.

1. What is your relationship to physical experience and comfort? What experiences are you drawn to?

All I know is I hate doing anything that doesn’t allow for relaxation, rushes me, or constantly pushes me. I get tired very quickly. I don’t like having anything interrupt my bedtime routine as I have a set schedule. (I'm lazy). It’s very important that i'm able to relax and take my time with things and spend time doing what I want. A 40+ hour work week would kill me. It’s boring and too rough. As long as I get lots of breaks, down time and can do things at my own pace then I can handle it. I’m pretty hedonistic. Getting drunk or high whenever I’m bored and doing things and spending money without much thought because that’s what I wanted at that moment without thinking ahead

1. Are you comfortable with emotional expression? How does this differ between personal and group expression?

I'm only comfortable with emotional expression with people I know and trust well. Even then I have feelings of embarrassment because I’m so shy and scared of judgement. I don’t like sharing my darkest feelings with just anyone (unless I’m in a bad mood, then it’s super obvious). I like to keep a positive attitude and atmosphere at all times. I don’t want to ruin the mood. I tend to absorb and mirror the moods of people around me so I prefer to be in a relaxed, positive emotional environment but not one that forces me to feel a certain way when I don’t feel it. I'm terrible at one on one because it’s awkward. Yes my emotions can get the better of me at times and can explode but that’s rare.

1. How do you judge your relationships? How do you assess and influence the closeness of your relationships? Does this matter to you?

Idk honestly. I can tell if something is up with someone if they aren’t texting me everyday if they used to or if they suddenly went silent and other behavioural changes or attitude changes towards me but other than that idk they could just be having an off day and it might take me a while to notice unless I talk to them frequently but I keep most people at a distance because I’m so shy and independent. To avoid embarrassment I stay away from people. If I care depends on how close I am to that person.

1. How important is independence to you? Where do you seek it? Where are you comfortable asking for help?

I hate asking for help and I prefer doing most if not everything on my own, free from the control of someone else. I know what I want from life.

1. What topics do you feel the most confident discussing and interacting with? When do you feel like you are “in your element”? (Please try to stay general and avoid naming specific shows or such)

Art, emotions, describing what a piece of art or music might mean, impressions, physical appearance, aesthetics, beauty, what something means to me.

I give practical advice or some (fake) encouragement t to make the other person feel better, but I usually don’t care enough about others to give a long winded speech. I don’t have the energy.

1. How do you determine the value of something?

Its impact or impressions on me. What it means to me personally. Beauty, aesthetics and underlying subjective meaning.

1. Do you focus more on what is changing or what stays the same? Do you care more about finding comfort in what is stable or do you care more about what is changing and evolving around you?

Stability I guess? Even if it gets boring. I appreciate novelty once in a while but constant change? Nah. I prefer my comfort.

1. What are some weaknesses you actively try to improve in?

None lol. Ok well maybe my social anxiety and apathy. But honestly I just don’t know if I care much about most things. I have limited energy, so I’m careful on what I spend it on.

1. What are things that others deem important that you do not care about?

Money. If I’m supposed to just work my ass off until I die without being able to enjoy money and spend on what I want, then what’s the point of all that work? I know it’s necessary but money isn’t the most important thing in life. Anyone who cares only for money and not for living life and enjoyment really needs to reevaluate what their life is really about. What they’re missing out on. What life actually is.

1. How do you determine the best way for things to be done? Does your idea of this tend to stay the same or does it change often? How do you know that you’ve made a good decision?

When I develop a method for finding the most reliable way to do something, it usually stays the same. I know I’ve made a good decision when I get positive feedback from it, usually immediate. I’ll try to stay positive about something until I can’t fake it anymore

1. Describe how you perceive time. What is your relationship to it? (This may be a hard question to answer. An example response could be about how you are very worried about wasting time and you believe nothing is eternal)

Time is fleeting. The present is so short lived it’s actually scary. I feel like it’s both unreal. Like where did the time go? Like I never have enough time to accomplish what I want or the small steps in getting there and how long it’ll take. I'm kinda detached from time. Idk how to explain it. I look back and see how fast town went by and how fast my future will go until I die and that scares me. So basically I have a very poor sense of time

1. What kind of people do you find yourself drawn to? What kind of people compliment your traits well?

Calm, happy, positive, creative and relaxed. Aggressive, pushy, loud types I can’t stand being around. I also can’t stand self-righteous people or “SJWs” who take offence to every little thing and gets mad about it

Before I say anything, I want to clarify that I absolutely loved Tears of the Kingdom. I went into the game completely blind, only having seen the very first trailer and luckily avoiding any major spoiler content of gameplay or story. This game was incredible to me and every step of the way I was super interested in how the story would develop and connect to other things. Now that I have finished the game and watched the final cutscenes, having completed all Main Story quests, there are a few things left open, unanswered, or avoided that definitely add a bit of disappointment. No game is perfect, obviously, but in my opinion, a few small changes would have made things feel a bit more satisfying when playing through the story.

1. The least significant, but still apparent, is the disconnect between this story and other Zelda games. From a surface view, you would expect this to be the Ganondorf we all know and love/hate, connected directly to Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, etc. But this cannot be the case. In some sense, the Dragon Tear cutscenes could be seen as a 'retelling' of Ocarina of Time as there are many similarities and clear references, such as Ganondorf's vow of fealty to the king of Hyrule. And it's very clear that the opening of the game is nudging you hard by using Rauru's name out of context to make you think of the original Sage of Light. But all of these are references, nothing more. This is a completely different Ganondorf, and this Hyrule is a completely different Hyrule. Now like I said before, this isn't that significant of a critique. It's a little disappointing to be nudged by the game over and over with very distinct references to past games and then have them not be significant at all, but it wasn't that impactful.
2. What I think is much more significant is the disconnect between this story and its predecessor, Breath of the Wild. There is a big difference between having a disconnect within the whole series and having a huge gap when this is the direct sequel. An ambiguous amount of time has passed between the two that is never stated. The world has changed but not that much. The castle is still ruined, there's plenty of recovery still ongoing, but the exact time since the Calamity is never stated as far as I'm aware even though this would be a very burning question on everyone's mind, not to mention how long it was between the Upheaval itself and when Link wakes up- because this seems to be quite a while as well given that Kakariko is already a tourist attraction with the Ring Ruins. No comments of 'Link, you and Zelda have been missing for X time' or anything along those lines, it's glossed over even though it feels like it would be significant information to learn. The total time from BoTW seems to be 'about 6-10 years or so' given Maddison's seeming age, but it's never clear what was before the upheaval and what was after. In addition, there are some very big oddities in how the story connects to Breath of The Wild. There is a school teaching about the very real Calamity that just happened, but the students have to be given proof of the events. So they were not alive or aware during the events, and their parents or townsfolk don't mention it at all? Not to mention that almost all signs of shiekah tech, the shrines, Divine Beasts, Guardian corpses, etc have all but vanished with no trace whatsoever. The only designs that are similar seem to be nods to the last game such as the Ancient Blade items. I would be perfectly okay with any kind of handwave of this information like 'The divine beasts disappeared after their energy was spent on defeating Calamity Ganon' or 'The Shrines and Towers buried underground again since their task was complete' etc etc, but there's nothing at all, so much so that it seems on purpose. Finally, the way that characters interact with Link, the hero that just saved literally the whole world not that long ago, is really weird. A ton of people don't recognize him that should, while others do? The clearest example is Hudson and Bolson. Hudson and Rhondson recognize and are appreciative toward Link as he canonically helped with Tarrey Town it seems, but the other individuals in Tarrey Town don't seem to acknowledge him at all. And Bolson in Lurelin Village doesn't even acknowledge their connection at all even though Link canonically bought a house from him, shared it with Zelda, and helped his worker create the biggest construction company in Hyrule. I get that the game has to be a little bit welcoming towards new players but the way it is handled is really odd. It gives the sensation that this is some kind of alternate universe or some timeline shenanigans have occurred from Zelda's time jump, but the fact that all of it is realized through empty space and nothing is pointed out specifically is really odd. The complete disappearance of Kass save for a small reference is also an oddity. It makes me think they'll pull out a Champion's Ballad style DLC to answer a lot of these questions, which would make me a bit frustrated given how they're kind of significant.
   
3. Finally is the disconnect between ToTK's self-contained story and its open ended gameplay. This one is really hard to fix without making drastic changes to the game, so really it is just a flaw with telling a very focused story in such an open, free game. The story pushes you in very specific direction, but a lot of the time has no way of recovering if you break its order leaving a lot of question marks until you hit a certain story flag and realize 'oh, I had to do this first.' As an example, I did a lot of the Geoglyphs really early because I was very interested in how the story would develop and realized about halfway through that Zelda was the Light Dragon. Once I got all the stories I acquired the Master Sword, and the whole sequence was absolutely beautiful. I Also found Mineru and the Spirit Temple before completing a few other Sages purely on accident. I flew into the thunderdome, missed my mark, and stumbled through the darkness only to find myself on the end of the island chain, where I activated the sequence and went along with the story until I got Mineru's vow. It was amazing and I was in awe that there was this secret 5th dungeon hidden outside the path of the story. However, since I did these two things 'out of order', it caused a lot of weirdness with the story sequence. For example, I was frustrated with the situation in Kakariko and not being able to access the Ring Ruin because Link already knows where Zelda is and that this Zelda is an imposter. Even without the Master Sword sequence, it feels like Link is a total dummy for essentially chasing around Puppet Zelda with the expectation that she's real when we are shown over and over again through the memories and the Sage sequence that she is in the past. Now obviously, none of this matters if you play through the game in its intended progression, but that's really hard to do in an open world game a lot of the time? I was expecting that after the 4 Sages, I would take the fight to Ganon, so I avoided Hyrule Castle once I completed that sequence until I was ready. Little did I know that I had to go through Hyrule Castle first to progress the story enough to unlock the Ring Ruins and find the proper story sequence for Mineru (Which was a really hilarious sequence given the fact that she was there the whole time in robot form listening to Purah and the others figure out there's a 5th sage.) I did my best to follow the story without breaking anything, and it felt like my knowledge and Link's knowledge were significantly different in a way that felt too big to ignore, which nagged at me for the latter half of the playthrough.

Overall, this game is incredible and a huge achievement in both a self-contained Zelda story and open world exploration game, but I just wanted to share my thoughts on certain aspects that I believe could have been touched on a bit more. None of them ruined my enjoyment of the game, but for a lot of my playtime I was expecting certain things given its nature as a sequel that were left open by the end, which was weird. I would be very interested to hear people's thoughts both positive and negative- hearing other perspectives or theories is always a fun time. Thanks for reading!

• George Müller - ran homes for 10,000 orphans in England and never asked for money, relying instead on God to provide
• Florence Nightingale - revolutionised nursing and public health care. Lived a life of prayer.
• Henri Dunant and Gustave Moynier - co-founders of the Red Cross, and both devout Christians.

I was playing as Germany in the great mod. WW1 had been raging into the 1930s. The Allies had lost over 40 million men and my faction less than 10. After decades of stalemate I had finally just capitulated France and defeated the British navy. Russia was steadily loosing ground and I was starting to push in Italy. It looked like I might soon win my longest game yet. But then a Comunist revolution started and I immediately lost most of the country to them. All my armies in Italy joined them and my divisions in Russian were trapped within a few tiles wide Frontline with enemies on both sides. 69 division joined me in central Germany. But they just happened to all be pushed in the same tile and were killed within a few days. After almost winning a 16 year war I capitulated in less than a month.

This is what I feel like as a Montanan these days.
After work, 5 o'clock traffic. Get to the intersection at Oak and 7th. Light turns green, but there is a car in the intersection, so my turning lane can't go. I realize the driver is trying to start their car, I'm 4th back in line. I figure, like a naive, native Montanan, someone will help him in a second.
I wait. Narrow my eyes. Sigh. Cuss. Turn my car off, hit my hazards. Start running up, yell at the guy to come push who has his window down as I pass him. Get to the car, say 'hey man I'll push, put her in neutral' wave to other cars to get your ass over here and push go to the back and put my head and hands down in the universal pushing cars gesture.
The man I hollered at came quick, as did another woman. We pushed the poor man through the intersection and got him parked to the side. It was a damn hot metal car, and I was breathing like a marathoner driving home. Had a rough, sick winter full of ear infections and finally pneumonia not that long ago.
I'm too old for this shit. 4 cars back? Shit there should have been barely a blip by the time I realized what was going on. Peeps should have already been back in their cars after piling out real fast.
THAT is why out of staters rub me wrong some days. I realize people are new, or don't know. I grew up doing these types of things, pushing someone real quick when they're stuck in snow, stopping if someone has a hood up on a back road. But I'm not 20 anymore. Y'all gotta step up before I break something. I'm a whopping 5'2 chubby 39 yr old mama. Get your butts moving out there. If I can do it, surely someone else can. Otherwise.... What... Y'all wait for a tow truck ffs? That seems fun.....
No, I'm not hoping for pats on the head or trophies or thumbs up. It's obviously anonymous, I've done this type of thing many times, hell I've needed help before myself and thank goodness for other Montanans. Also, the 2 people who helped me deserve a lot of praise, if anyone does. I do this stuff. Who knows if they do, or if they were new and just stepped up? Give them the pats, they did a good job.
I was completely insulted when I pushed a CA plated car this winter. It took a long time, because I had to keep stopping and saying things like, stop turning your tires until you're on the road. Put it in 2nd gear with your gearshift. Did you try to reverse? How did you get completely sideways? I wasn't insulted because CA plates, obviously new to snow driving, passenger tires, etc. I was insulted because he kept trying to give me money. Um, no. Literally go help someone else in a jam real quick. Why did you move here, because nice Montanans if you don't actually want to do those things?
This is the way.
Obviously I grumble. Yet obviously I still help. Yes I'm still jaded from the past 3 years of absolute stress level 10 around here. I haven't mastered the Midwestern style of just talking your ear off and inviting you to church instead of posting on Reddit. Gonna have to deal with it, ain't ya? I'll be sure to wear camo, be strapped, cuss like a sailer with my chaw in my mouth, talk absolutely fucking redneck, (usually about the weather, fishing, hunting, if we are fast friends, maybe I'll tell you about a local gem to add to your treasure box of Montana secrets) and hopefully I pass by you if you have trouble instead of some schmuck who will leave you in the middle of nowhere. Yeah, you came from somewhere you don't do that. Well, you're here now. You outnumber me at this point. You want to keep Montana alive for the reasons you are here? Better step up.
Obviously be smart and safe. Cuz peeps have moved here and started ruining it. 🤨
TL;DR actively help your neighbors where you can, if you visit, live, moved here, because the nice little Montana folk

Because I was very hyped only to feel that:

1. The cinematics look worse than D3's
2. The dialogue isn't great. Characters neither talk in-depth like in D2 & 3 nor were the lines sharp and hard hitting.
3. The characters were underwhelming. I didn't really care about anyone. Not to mention that people just dying left and right (to random zombies with a single stab after fighting through the entire army of hell, no less) just for barely any emotional response from the other characters. And why do the band of heroes suddenly act so close when they were all such bitter, distant people 5 minutes ago? Character dynamics were unnatural.
4. Mephisto and Lilith were the coolest, but the ending of just "demon's bad don't trust em" is just repeating the substanceless cycle of the eternal conflict that is $76USD every 10 years. The aimless universe of Diablo makes me not care for the characters even more. Overall the beginning of the story wasn't very captivating, the middle wasn't engaging and the end was unsatisfying. Random Lilith followers do weird stuff, chase white man and then dark wanderer.
5. All the areas and enemies are pretty underwhelming. Entering a new area of the main questline felt dull. Nothing made me go "ooo" in the slightest, I just felt like I wanted to get through it all and be done. In D2, progressing acts felt fresh with each one. That includes town's too, the character used to be memorable in D2 towns.
6. The forced Pokémon style levelling they make you do twice during the main questline is just jarring and feels like it's meant to drag out playtime.
7. The whole game is single player, at least for me. I realized about halfway through that I had not met up and partied with anyone and I just ended up beating the game alone.

But I did like how there is a bit more micro when fighting than previous games. Even if I was a solely left clicking Barbarian. Just 5.5/10 to me. But I am definitely bored of Diablo in general.

My players are planning to join in a war effort, and I'm thinking of pulling together a mechanic to deal with mass-battles swiftly, and to engage the players in the strategic planning of the war (I have already mentioned this to the players and they seem interested). I've looked at other supplements, but found them too heavy, and wanted to go for more of a straight forward/simple one. The following is just ideas for now, so any feedback, ways to improve, or general ideas is much appreciated.
The foundation of the mechanic is that whenever the two factions go to battle or siege one another, both sides roll a d100, and have varying modifiers (depending on their army size, resources, influence, regions/areas occupied, which will also reflect the respective strengths of the factions). The faction that rolls the highest wins (or perhaps both sides roll 3 times to reflect the progression and determine the outcome of the battle). During the battle, the players themselves can engage in combat as normal, though this will be primarily goal-focused. E.g. defend the wall/breach the wall, take out the siege weapons/protect the siege weapons, take out high priority targets/defend high priority targets - if they succeed, the opposing faction either gets a negative modifier to their roll or rolls with disadvantage (not sure which).
As for the actual modifiers and how they are gained, I've been thinking of the following:

Army Size	1 per squad in the army (with a squad consisting of 10 people); e.g. an army of 500 people gains +50 to their roll	Perhaps the factions gain different bonuses depending on how their army is composed. E.g. the players' faction consists of mainly Wood Elves, so perhaps they gain advantage on rolls if fighting/defending on their favoured terrain (forests). I'm also thinking the size of an army is restricted to the number of settlements owned (i.e. you cannot grow your army larger without a settlement and the resources that come with it).
Watchtowers & Outposts	+2 per watchtower occupied +5 per outpost occupied	In the region, there are several watchtowers and outposts which I'm thinking can be contested and fought over (are these modifiers too low?)
Settlements	+5 for hamlet, +10 for village, +15 for town, +20 for city	This is to reflect bases they own, general influence over the region, and the resources/labour gained through occupying a settlement (are these modifiers too low?)
Siege Weapons	+2 for simple (requires village), +3 for general (requires town), +4 for expert (requires city)	These will come into play when attacking/sieging, and players can try to defend/attack these
Reconnaissance	+5/+10/+15 modifier on your next d100 roll depending on the success of the mission	Idea is that this cannot stack and perhaps players can assist with these missions
Alliances	Players will have the option to set up alliances, to increase their army strength, or perhaps receive certain bonuses/perks. E.g. if setting an alliance with various gangs in the region (the 'underworld' so to speak), perhaps there is a bonus to the Reconnaissance roll.
Miscellaneous	I'm thinking players can help secure resources to set up defensive structures, walls, etc around areas occupied, which will give them additional modifiers to their roll (or negatives to the opposing factions roll). E.g. a town being surrounded by a wall gives +20 to the occupier's d100 roll when defending (or a -20 to any faction who attacks it)

This is my first post here, and as far as I can tell, I'm not infringing any of the rules, but let me know if that's not the case. So I have quite a lot of experience as a DM, but I want to hear other people's ideas as to where I could take this campaign next. I like to have very little prep and improv things on the fly, as I find that is less work for me and also more fun as I don't fully know what's going to happen, and most of the best ttrpg moments I've had in the past came from improvisation. I also like to keep my stories character focused. PLAYER CHARACTERS & BACKSTORIES: A quick summary of all the PCs and their backstories. 1 - Wood Elf Rogue accidentally made a powerful wizard lose his treasure and got cursed by him with a bracelet that keeps tightening in his arm. The wizard told him it will stop shrinking once he paid his debt, and that's why he became a rogue. 2 - Wood Elf Druid that comes from a secret town in the woods. Legend says the town was built because the founders came into contact with another secret town in the woods that had a powerful spell protecting it from being found. They did their own town but it has no spell to protect it, so there's a risk of it being found by another growing town nearby, which is getting closer. The Druid wants to find this other town, learn how to make the spell to protect her own town and also find her brother who went missing years ago. 3 - Half-orc Monk orphan girl who grew up in a monastery. Her hometown got destroyed in a Drow invasion, and her family might have died there, but she does not know for sure. She met her best friend, a giant, in the monastery, but he left for an adventure and was never seen again. 20 years after this, she was expelled from the monastery for bad behaviour and now lives as an adventurer looking for her best friend. 4 - Human Paladin. He fought a battle against draugrs but got his army wiped out by a large shadowy and mysterious creature. After that, realized that power alone achieves nothing and he needed faith, so he became a paladin. 5 - High Elf Bard. Wants fame and glory. He got a black lyre in the shape of a moon handed to him by a mysterious man he never saw again. The man told him he would be rich and famous as long as he adhered to the pseudonym "Pablo". The next morning, a mark appeared on his cheek that was in the shape of a flower but the shape keeps changing every night. THE STORY SO FAR: So we've only played two sessions up to this point. They had a fight in a tavern, a halfling involved in it was saved by them and gave them a stone with the drawing of an eye on it. They went to an old wizard, which hit one player's hand with some kind of meat tenderiser to get a teardrop into the stone (the blood in the meat tenderizer might serve as some foreshadowing). After the tear drop hit the stone, the drawing became an arrow and started pointing towards the woods. They found a dungeon there and found an Owlbear inside with two cubs. The Owlbear attacked them, and they decided to kill it despite the cubs, which ran off. The half-orc monk died in the fight, but I decided to revive her because this was her first time playing. But that came with a cost, as a dark entity in a plague doctor mask came to her. They asked her to give them her arms and legs, and when she agreed, she lost all movement in her limbs. They asked her to give them her eyes, and she became blind. They asked her to give them her ears and she became deaf. After that, she came back to life as if nothing happened. Eventually, they found a big black egg on a pedestal. They took the egg, the dungeon started crumbling, and they ran back to the entrance. When they were about to get out, they were stopped by two goblins, a bugbear and an ettin holding an orange flask with a fetus inside. My plan was to make that egg hatch into a dragon eventually, which the BBEG would need to get for his ultimate plan. My plan was to make the dragon and the BBEG connected somehow and they would grow up faster than normal. The fetus in the flask is the BBEG which communicates to the ettin via telepathy. This can all still happen or change, I'm not sure. What I know is I want to incorporate the PCs backstories into this whole thing. Some very interesting things already happened like the blood in the possession of the old wizard and the half-orc coming back from the dead. I believe a collaborative creative process is much more powerful than a solo one so I want to hear which kinds of ideas you guys have on how to take this forward. Keep in mind this is supposed to be a short campaign which should probably end in 10 sessions at most (preferably less).

Hi. I would love advice from frequent sleep paralysis people. Or any insight about my situation or theirs. And wondering if my story is dangerous or helpful
I have never experienced this before. My first time happened a few hours ago and I think I approached it differently? But would love coping mechanisms because this was really scary and I don’t feel good :(
I am a frequent nap taker. Got into restful sleep around 7pm? In a really dark room. Only light from my clock
At 9pm my Roomate opens the door standing in the door way letting light in telling me to come dinner is ready.
I am a face / stomach sleeper. I stretch my arm and hold myself up face her. Can not say anything.
I then nod off and fall back onto my face. Everything here on forward is my sleep paralysis.
I nodded off as if I am so tired? I immediately find that weird. I want to be up But the sensation of nodding off into deep sleep is strong and I’m fighting it.
“Get up get up get up” is repeating over and over in my head trying to lift myself up and off my bed and I’m nodding off each time !! on a loop. At least 6 times I try to force my hand and try to push myself up. With no luck each time the sensation of nodding off and falling back on my face.
After trying again and again on a weird loop I start primal thinking. Get. Up. Hand push. Turn. Back on my face. I can feel my satin pillow. When I hear someone enter the room walking towards me.
I hear “get up” in an unrecognizable voice. So I’m really confused who is it? Who would it be? A man? No. A stranger? No I live on the second floor. Probably my Roomate. But walking to me?
Oh she’s checking on me! So now I really try to face her and speak focusing on my words I’m not sure if dream me spoke or moved. Or I thought the words I wanted to say and imagined the moves I wanted to make I push myself up and am staring at a figure on the side of my bed looking over me.
I’m confused staring at the dark figure in the dark. what is it? Who is it? Hm. I think bc of my small bed frame I imagined it skinny ? and rationally it had to be my apartmentmate so through this dark room it was her.
I ask “oh hey roomate I was having a really hard time getting up right now I tried really hard and I feel scared. “ I reach over and hugged her in the dark she answered in her voice “oh that’s really weird want to come to my room to talk about it?” I said yes and fell out of the bed and walked across the hall following her. Holding her hand?
We get to her room and it’s dark I lay down trying to talk when suddenly I felt myself nod off again! And I hear “oh she probably fell asleep again” and I immediately get up terrified . I look for my phone. Obviously I brought it and wouldn’t have left without it. I grab it and it’s dead won’t turn on
I start freaking out and looking for a light to turn on. When my Roomate says ”no don’t turn on the light I want to go to sleep” I start trying to turn on one light while she is trying to convince me not to turn it on
I say ”I’m sorry I can’t see” I move to a desk lamp and start fidgeting with it and it’s not turning on and I start getting frustrated
when finally I wake up at 10pm almost 10:30pm in my room. I can see even in the dark the outline of my clock and fan and feel awake. I get up with ease feeling terrified I apparently was in sleep paralysis fighting it for over an hour
This whole sensation makes me uncomfortable I’m not sure if anyone has heard of that idea/theory that dream people try to keep you dreaming for as long as possible?
Idk if this could help anyone the way I navigated through this, if someone could offer advice or methods to prevent this or just make me feel better as it was horrifying. Open to anything spiritual, rational, etc.

Hi all!
I'm 34, last week I made a breakthrough in my self-administered anxiety/depression therapy
My breakthrough came after I went the ptsd route. I fought the perceived stigma of saying I might have ptsd without the X rating traumas.
I put all my tools to following my negative thoughts and tendencies back to two events. Before I was 10 I was almost killed by a friend from behind with a slab of ice and also almost killed by a family member from behind by balling my shirt up and fake pushing me off a cliff.
Now I understand these events from all perspectives thanks to labeling emotions (thanks Adam Driver's TEDtalk!) and forgiving myself.
When it happened it felt like a switch got flipped and after a week I still run excited and overjoyed because my brain is working as intended for maybe the first time in my life.
My current trial I'm handling is family that say it's not ptsd. That I'm wrong. That I'm delusional. That all of my depressed life wouldn't have happened if I didn't drink or smoke weed. Now they guilt me to move back to that small town to "make up for lost time." They say I'm a bad uncle for not being around. I know all of this to be behavior I would have employed just weeks ago if the role were reversed. The only social joy they know is acheived at the expense of others. I used to be like that. But never again.
I just came to share but I'm open for discussion on the best way to digest the garbage my family says to me.
