The last contest was for Music - centered around the songs, albums, and artists you love. I gave top marks to F.O.O.L. by u/Even-Day-3764, who takes his second win of the season. Thanks to the other entries for making my job of picking one hard.

This week's contest will be Off Brand cars. You know when you ask your mom for some pizza flavored Pringles, but she says you have them at home - just to find calzone flavored Prongles instead? Well, we want entries like that... although, like always, as good as we can get from the off-brand. Maybe you don't get DC's The Flash in red and yellow, but Marvel's Quicksilver will do fine in blue and silver. You just don't want to get stuck with A-Train and all his Supe problems, or some general superhero knockoff like Bee-Man and Spyman.
So, without the use of on-brand items related to the character (like the DC Super Heroes Pack or other licensed items), make your best off-brand version of any character. It doesn't have to be human or a superhero, but it does need to be a character you can point to - not just an animal or something with the Tigress decal.
3 Acceptable Entries and a Disqualified One
Rules:
  • Screenshots must be from in-game or RL-Garage.
    • In game shots may get a little extra consideration for creativity.
    • As per Rule 4, no cameras pointed at screens.
  • You may edit your photos for quality, but the design will be what I'm judging.
  • You can use BakkesMod for items and colors - so long as you can give us reasonably similar palette information for a custom team (please test your car in a private match to see if it's about right)
  • List all your items used - including colors and finishes
    • You don't have to include topper, antenna, or even trail, boost, or GE - but good use of them could boost your result.
    • List your colors and the convention you're using (like 1,4 being row 1 column 4 vs A4 being row A, column 4 - I'm totally used to Excel columns being numbered and might reverse them ^_^;).
  • Please name your designs! Preferably, but not required, within the name length of Rocket League
    • If you want to say something about it, do so! A good name or caption can elevate good art. This isn't something console users have trouble with, so it's completely fair game.
    • For this Music contest, please include the thing that inspired the design and how they relate (if it's not obvious)
  • Since the idea is things others can recreate, no custom decals will be permitted.
    • We do run another contest for custom decals
  • You may do two entries IF!
    • One is Orange and the other is Blue team for the same car body type (team car)
    • One is one set of team colors and the other is the same colors, but flips primary and secondary colors (think club cars when your opponent has the same primary, so it flips your colors)
    • This can elevate a design since the preset matches - just make sure they both fit the theme!

These will only be basic summaries of each faction, nothing too in-depth. And I won't write anything that's currently being made as a mod. (Some of the things I list may be mods, idk)
BluFor:
I think we have enough BluFor factions as is. However, I kinda wanna see the Belgian army in the game. IDEK why, probably because a faction using SCARs, P90s, and FN 57s would be cool in my opinion.
RedFor:
MEA Republican Guard: This would be the RedFor's version of the Marines. They would use the AK-103 (AK-74M, but it shoots 7.62x39)
GreenFor: (Factions that will fight both RedFor and BluFor factions)
Turkish Army: While Turkey IRL is in NATO, I think it would be good if they could fight their supposed allies, as another BluFor faction would just be too much. Depending on the time period, they could use MPT rifles or G3s/HK33s.
Indonesian Army: This one (alongside the next one) will require new maps and a new region to be added. Their main rifle would be the SS1/SS2 rifles (copies of the FN FNC)
Vietnamese Army: Another SEA nation. They would use the Galil Ace 32/31 or the STV-380/215, depending on the time period
African Union: Tbh, I don't know what these guys would have. Probably AKs or FN FALs.
Insurgents:
Southeast Asian Insurgents: These guys would mostly fight against China and Australia (and the other 2 SEA nations mentioned above). They would be equipped with Vietnam war era American weapons as well as Late Cold War Chinese Weapons
African Militia: These would mostly fight against the African Union. Again, besides AKs, I really wouldn't know what these guys would use.
Honourable mentions: Mexican Army and a cartel faction.
Just my 2 cents.
And I'm not a dev. Don't go in the comments being like "the DeVS shouLD focuS ON perfORMAncE nD not aDd neW fActIOnS FoR a WHIlE" we know that, I can't do anything about it

I've watched loads of tutorial videos and think I'm ready. My question is what do I need to do after I build?
I have a 32gb flash drive for Windows 11 and another for the up-to-date bios. Do I need to have anything else ready?
Once I get it up and running, I'm planning on downloading GEForce, Ninite, Everything, HW Monitor. What should I do to test everything is working as it should? Do I need to do benchmarks and, if so, what is recommended?

Relevant ELI5: ELI5: How can a spacecraft "bounce" off the atmosphere?
In many documentations of Neil Armstrong, a common story is the time Armstrong's X-15 "bounced off" the atmosphere.
On his return, Armstrong inadvertently pulled too high an angle of attack during pullout. The flight path took a bounce in the atmosphere, and he overshot Edwards Air Force Base, heading south at Mach 3 and at 100,000 feet.
According to the ELI5 linked, spacecraft (in this example, Apollo 13) are at risk of "bouncing" off the atmosphere because:
The angle was shallow enough, speed was high enough, and distance was far enough that they'd cause some compression once they dipped in, causing the compression to give them something relatively firm to "bounce" against.
I have two questions that lead from this explanation when attempting to match the criteria for this "bouncing" to Armstrong's X-15 flight.
Firstly, I can understand the angle of the X-15 being shallow (as it was behaving in trajectory more akin to a plane than a reentering spacecraft). But the listed speed of the X-15 during this incident was only Mach 3, or a bit over 0.9km/s at 30km, compared to the orbital velocity of Earth at 7.8km/s. And the altitude was only 30km, compared to the Karman line at 100km and LEO at 2000km. Is the effect of atmospheric "bouncing" already a factor at these low speeds and low altitude?
Secondly, what was the problem if Armstrong bounced off the atmosphere? The Apollo 13 crew's risk with the bouncing was that they were going very fast, enough that bouncing off the atmosphere would "skip" them off Earth. But Armstrong was only going 0.9km/s at 30km altitude, which seems far slower than orbital velocities. Since it seems unlikely Armstrong would bounce off the Earth and enter orbital flight, what was the danger to Armstrong?

2023.03.28 20:53 MichaelSoulstice Chaos Dump Suggestion [Rotate Kirac Map Mods Every Week]

So all the talk is how the bigger stacks of Chaos will/won't affect the ratio to Divines. I doubt they'll really make too many ways to drop Divines so the other solution is to find a better way to eat up the Chaos Orbs out there which is usually done with crafting(which sounds like most aren't comfortable with, I'm one of them) or the Kirac Map Mods which if the list is crap then the Chaos doesn't get used. At the same time it wouldn't be smart for GGG to put all the best mods in there just to appease us.
So my suggestion is to make the Kirac Map Mods rotate randomly on a weekly basis. Sure you'll now have random spikes of Chaos being eaten up but it also adds something for people to look forward to, just waiting to see what the map mods are going to be for the week.

TLDR: Rotate the Map Mods out on a Weekly basis to increase incentive to play longer and to eat up excess Chaos that isn't being spent to bring down the price of Divine Orbs.

2023.03.28 20:40 hate-zenkai Why must hydroid be neglected by D.E for years? seriously please rework him because every single ability of his including his passive suck!!!!

First,starting with his passive - it's a joke. A slam attack has a 50% chance to summon a tentacle that crowd controls the enemy and does 200 true damage per second. Those tentacles last for 15 seconds, and you can only have three of them out at a time. Not only is the damage extremely awful and doesn’t scale at all, but the crowd control part of it is also equally as bad because it makes the enemy hard to hit by swinging them around. It's one of the worst passive abilities you can ever imagine.
Now let's move on to his actual ability, Tempest Barrage. BOY, IS THIS ABILITY JUST AWFUL. It's just a barrage of water drops dropping from the sky, and the only thing it does is knock down enemies. It does impact damage and doesn't scale at all, and it's not even good at low or high levels because it's just a simply terrible ability. The knockdown is completely random and not reliable. He is a cc warframe without reliable cc.Not only that, but you need to fully charge it by holding it down to get its full range, which is ridiculous. Warframe is a fast-paced game, and that slow mechanic is outdated.
And of course, this ability has an augment that makes his first ability deal corrosive damage called Corroding Barrage and also gives him 100% ability strength (he's not a damage warframe, so it's a useless buff, by the way). Now, corrosive used to strip 100% of the enemy's armor, so his first ability was a wide-range, full armor strip. But after the nerf, corrosive only strips 80% of enemies' armor, making his armor strip one of the worst, if not the worst, out of all armor strips. And it's not even instant because you have to wait for the corrosive stacks to stack up to 10, meaning the barrage has to hit the same enemy TEN times before you get its full effect.
Speaking of outdated abilities, we have his second ability, Tidal Surge. This ability is basically Revenant's Reave with only the movement part. While Revenant's Reave does 100% percentage health damage to enemies while moving like Hydroid, Tidal Surge, however, only does the movement part and does nothing else. This awful ability somehow costs 50 energy too. Why would anyone want Revenant's Reave without the damage part? Because that's what this ability is – a complete trash. And of course, it does some impact damage that doesn't scale at all.
This ability has an augment mod called Tidal Impunity that gives you status immunity for only 12 seconds and reduces the enemy cost for this mod to make it more spammable to 15 energy from 50. Now, 12 seconds of status immunity on paper sounds amazing until you realize that there are warframes that have built-in status immunity like Nezha, Revenant, and Rhino, so he's just a much worse version of those warframes. Besides, if you want to cleanse yourself from status, the mod Rolling Guard would be so much better than this garbage of a mod.
Now onto his third ability, Undertow, aka useless puddle. Without having to say ANY positive thing about this Warframe, it's supposedly his "infinite scaling ability" because the damage will increase gradually. It's another joke of an ability that makes me laugh. It drains energy per second and does little to no damage unless you camp the same spot for minutes, and it's not interactive at all. The damage is super slow, and you can barely move while you’re in this puddle form. Of course, you can pull enemies into your puddle, but the damage is simply not worth it, and it has an augment that’s just completely useless called Curative Undertow.
Basically, it restores a percentage of your health, but what’s the point of doing that on a frame that will get one-shot at basic steel path? He is invulnerable while in his puddle form anyway, so what is that health regen going to do? It's a whole bunch of nothing.
His last ability (his best ability), Tentacle Swarm, is also trash. It’s basically another CC ability that swings enemies around and does little to no damage. It doesn’t even kill basic enemies in basic starter chart; that's how bad it is. It swings enemies around, making it even harder for you and your team to kill the enemies, and just like his first ability, you have to charge it to get its full effect.
This ability has an augment called Pilfering Swarm, which basically gives you 100% additional loot, but we have Nekros and Khora that do that infinitely more times better than this hideous frame. Such a shame that he has an amazing skin and theme just to be wasted because of his trash abilities.
Please rework hydroid instead of releasing new frames, he needs it the most. 1: he is one of the list used warframes 2: he is not good in early, mid, to late game.
Please D.E he has gotten so bad that even deleting him from the game wouldn’t impact players at all, he is that useless.

2023.03.28 20:30 DoomerChad 2019 Mazda3 hatchback - stalling at stops, high rpm’s on idle, lurching at stop

I have a 2019 Mazda3 HB I bought in Nov/Dec. About a month or so in it started idle really high when I’m stopped at a light etc (now it idles high when I’m even in park.) It would also idle really low, bouncing around to the point that it stalled, twice at a stop sign, twice it wouldn’t start after filling up at a gas station. If it doesn’t stall, it just tries to take off, like if my foot wasn’t on the brake it would drive forward. The CEL is on as well. BUT it’s all happening intermittently. It will randomly stop for a few days or a week, the CEL might even cut off.
So when first took it to the dealer they claimed it was a battery failure, after charging $185 to diagnose. But it’s kept happening and got worse even after buying a new battery.
When I’ve had it scanned, it threw a code saying “rpm’s higher than expected”. Another time it was scanned and had no codes, tho the CEL was on with idle issues. My research on here and elsewhere has pointed to a bad MAF sensor, bad fuel pump, bad purge valve solenoid, PCM issue; the list goes on.
I had a horrible experience with the dealership, charging me for a diagnostic, and telling me the battery would fix the issue. I don’t trust them bc they clearly don’t want to fix my car and I’m not paying them twice to do what they should have the first time. The dealership also told me that they can’t diagnose it if the problem isn’t occurring. Obviously, i never know when it’s going to start again. And often it’s weeks for an appointment…I have an appt at a diff dealership on April 17th, so hopefully the problem is happening then.
I have an extended warranty but am frustrated that the dealership is clearly trying to wait me out. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?? Any suggestions to what to do next to actually get some service from Mazda? I appreciate the help and the info this sub has given me so far.

Old timer, new install. Trying to rebuild my mod list from 2012 or so and I'm getting on pretty well except for a couple of mods I just can't find on nexus -
Lockpick Pro (may be the wrong name) put a bar on the screen to show you where the sweet spot was.
Some kind of magic overhaul that made spells like summons and magelight into semi-permanent effects that were maintained by gimping your magicka pool and regen
I haven't found anything like either one after a lot of searching. Can anybody help?

I know grenades used to have upgrades and I doubt they’ll make a return, but I got bored. Also by unique I mean outside of the obvious “extra grenade” and “increased effectiveness”.
Anyways, starting with gunner:
Sticky grenade- Impact spikes: Deals damage upon sticking to an enemy. (I’d imagine non melee damage as I want to keep the impact axe unique)
Cluster grenade- forceful burst: Fires the mini grenades with more force, traveling straight instead of at an arc.
Incendiary grenade- Fire wall: Flames create a fear effect.
Tactical lead burster- Lead poisoning: Poisons enemies that somehow survive
Engineer:
L.U.R.E.- Early Discharge: Enemies that attack the L.U.R.E. with melee will be electrified.
Proximity mine- Magnetic glove: Can be retrieved from long distance
Plasma Burster- Blast propellant: Grenade bounces with each burst.
Shredder swarm- Kamikaze: If shredders target an enemy as they expire, they will fly towards it and explode.
Driller:
Impact Axe- Bury the Hatchet: If the axe kills its target, it pierce and continue flying.
HE Grenade- For Karl: Fully cooking the grenade will cause a blast with the combined damage of all grenades in your belt. The ultimate sacrifice when things seem dire, it’s what Karl would do. Friendly dwarves are simply pushed away. (Cause I know some drillers will use this to suicide bomb their team)
Neurotoxin Grenade- Corrosive gas: Gas poisons and corrodes.
Spring load ripper- Buzz Kill: Ripper speeds up with each kill up to 15%
Scout:
I.F.G.- Shield charger: Shields charge faster in the Inhibiter Field
Cryo Grenade- Freezer Burn: Frozen enemies take damage over time
Pheromone Canister- Petting zoo: Enemies are pacified and can be pet…. What? What do you mean this just makes the grenade worse? It’s like enemies are your own hive of Steeves! This is the best upgrade and you can’t change my mind.
Voltaic Stun Sweeper- boomerang: Only carry one but it recharges over time. Capacity mods increase charge speed.

Rethinking the Towny-Economy
The players drive the economy. No Admin shop, no P2W features. However, there is another, very important, agent in Advanced-Kind’s economy. The cities themselves. Towns will in the future be able to choose from a variety of production centers to build and upgrade over time as their population grows.
Mines, sawmills, farms, and much more. All unique advantages to living in a town, custom coded, and exclusive to our server. They will provide a source of regenerative resources that will re-balance gameplay around them.
Those smaller cities that cannot afford the coins to expand (unlike larger cities with a larger taxpayer base) can still thrive! Explore our Quest World and earn Building Supplies! These little things can cover all Towny expenses. For the first time, Towns with small but very active players can compete with huge metropolises!

We have lots of features and most of them are explained through our in-game NPC tutorials. However, we have tried, whenever possible, to give players the chance to skip them so no one has to bother with a feature they don't enjoy.
