4 night camping/hiking trip
2023.03.22 22:48 exposablie 4 night camping/hiking trip
Doing a 4 night trip late august will be tent camping the entire time(flying into Colorado Springs). What’s the best place to camp that is <3 hours from CS. Also recommended hikes that are must do's in the area of the camping. Doesn’t have to be at the trailhead. Looking to do a lot of hiking the days leading up to the 14er also. Looking for the most scenic views for all of it to take some awesome photos.
Thanks for the help!

2023.03.22 22:38 acongregationowalrii Golden Transit Expansion
Colorado School of Mines has partnered with Undergrad & Grad Student Government and the City of Golden to launch a new campus shuttle program. The program will provide free shuttle service in and around campus and to popular areas near campus, including Mines Park, Jackson Street/Safeway, Downtown Golden, the RTD “W” Line Station, and South Golden Road. This service will operate on 10-minute intervals and will be a free, hop-on/hop-off service (no pass required). Accessible service will also be provided. Exact timing of the launch of the new campus shuttle program is dependent upon the acquisition of the needed vehicles to provide the service. This service is expected to launch prior to the Fall 2024 semester but could be in place late Spring semester 2023. Stay tuned for further details and announcements on this exciting program!
https://www.mines.edu/parking/campus-parking-and-transit-enhancements/ Super exciting news! Now they just need to get the W-Line up and running again. Golden is pretty isolated from Denver and RTD as a whole and this is a great step in the right direction.

2023.03.22 19:24 PublicVermicelli6 To those asking about moving here.
A lot of people come here and ask about moving here. When they do the catch a lot of heat from the people that do live here(native/transplant) myself included. But after reading a news article's about woman being forced to carry dead fetus to term or be charged with manslaughter or a woman being charged with murder for having a miscarriage or just now how Idaho hospitals will no longer be delivering baby's due to the liability to doctors. The the trans community being hunted and persecuted in red states both young and adult. Well I'm just not going to give you grief anymore come on over and enjoy. Just do your best with driving and try not to be to upset if we don't have your favorite restaurant/store. If enough people from where ever you are from move here it will follow. 2023.03.22 19:24 Ultim8_Lifeform Respect Edward Elric! (Fullmetal Alchemist (PS2 Trilogy))
"Hey, won't you at least try to talk to us? This guy here, although he looks pretty small, is surprisingly dependable."
"Yeah yeah, small but surprisingly dependa- Wait, what!? What did you say!? What do you mean 'looks pretty small'!?"
Edward Elric and his brother Alphonse were talented alchemists from a young age. However, this brilliance would become their undoing, when
an attempt at resurrecting their dead mother resulted in Edward losing his leg and Alphonse losing his entire body. After sacrificing his arm to bind Alphonse's soul to a suit of armor, the brothers set off in search of a mystical object that could restore their bodies to normal: the philosopher's stone. To do this, Edward enlisted into the military as a state alchemist so that he would have as many resources as possible to accomplish his goal.
These games take place in a similar, albeit different world to the Fullmetal Alchemist manga/anime, where the brothers need to save a city that is being besieged by chimeras, stop a man who has summoned an army of golems, and even stop the resurrection of a god. Like his manga/anime counterpart, Edward is cocky and despises when people point out how short he is, but is ultimately someone that will always fight to do what he thinks his right. Thanks to his incredible ability in alchemy, Edward can create almost anything from weapons to barriers to vehicles to assist him in battle, either summoning them directly from the ground or transmuting nearby objects into items he can use.

Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel = BA
Fullmetal Alchemist 2: Curse of the Crimson Elixir = CCE
Fullmetal Alchemist 3: The Girl who Inherits God = GIG
Note: The third game was never released outside of Japan, so this thread will be using a fan-translated walkthrough which can be found here.
Note: In The Girl who Inherits God, Edward is given a Holy Symbol by a girl who claims it will allow him to "fight back against the power" that the enemies of the game use. It is not clear exactly how he is boosted to allow him to fight back, but it at the very least increases the strength of his alchemy and possibly boosts his physical abilities. Note that he wields the Holy Symbol for most of the game, and any feats with it will be marked with a [\].*

Alchemy/Transmutation
The beginning of each game talks about the importance of equivalent exchange while using alchemy, this is the game lying to you. There doesn't seem to be any connection between the object Ed starts with and the one he gets after transmutation, regardless of size or material. Because of this a list of objects he can change and a list of objects he can create will be provided. Also note that Ed's brother Alphonse is capable of the same alchemy as him, so some feats will show him performing the transmutation instead of Ed.

"I'm telling you right now, that's one wrong step we're never gonna take. We'd never sacrifice life just for our own selfish gains to get an arm or a body that we want. Sacrificing somebody's life only because you wanna be happy? That can never be called equivalent exchange. So we'll just have to keep looking for the real answer out there."

2023.03.22 19:14 partisan98 So first playthrough and I am trying to avoid maps and guides. Is there any way to know if I have cleared all the ambush camps in an area?
I just got this game two days ago and am trying to avoid any spoilers/tips that might make me overpowered. Already screwed up by checking the pinned post which is great if you want a leg up but I like my first time been reasonably blind.
Benefit of going blind is learning new things yourself like dont wander into caves and shoot a swarmer cause there is more than one back there. Gotta say that was a an exciting thing to learn.
But I am wondering if there is a way to know how many ambush camps are in the area without looking at an online map.
I think I have gotten all of them around the 1st camp and the work camp but while my mission progress goes up there is nothing saying like x/4 ambush camps in hot springs region cleared.
I noticed they give you recipes so I trying to grind them out to get recipes before I do the main missions and also because getting sniped off my motorcycle is a bunch of bullshit. Side note is there any way to dodge the sniper once the laser is one your bike?

2023.03.22 18:19 woj-espn Inside the NBA presents: Game 4 Preview
Ernie Johnson: Alright guys, we've got Game 4 of the NBA Finals coming up between the Colorado Springs Gold and the Orlando Magic. I want to hear your predictions for this game. Shaq, we'll start with you.
Shaquille O'Neal: Well Ernie, I gotta go with the Magic on this one. You know I love Jabari, he reminds me of myself back in the day. He's a dominant force in the paint and I think he's going to have another huge game. I'm going with a final score of 130-125 in favor of the Magic.
Ernie Johnson: Alright, Chuck, what's your prediction?
Charles Barkley: I'm going to have to disagree with Shaq on this one, Ernie. I think the Gold are just too good, and they've got a lot of weapons on offense. I'm going with a final score of 125-105 in favor of the Gold. I think Jack Thompson is going to have another big game, and Dale Nicholson is going to find his form.
Ernie Johnson: Alright, Kenny, what do you think?
Kenny Smith: This is a tough one, Ernie. The Magic are undefeated at home this season, and they're going to be playing with a lot of energy in front of their home crowd. But the Gold are just too good. I think Zoid Okoro is going to have another big game, and he's going to lead the Gold to a win. I'm going with a final score of 132-116 in favor of the Gold.
Ernie Johnson: Alright, those are some great predictions. As for me, I'm going to have to side with Chuck and Kenny on this one. I think the Gold are just too strong, and they're going to take this one. I'm going with a final score of 130-118 in favor of the Gold. That'll do it for this edition of Inside the NBA, now let's see what happens in Game 4!

2023.03.22 18:13 dr_leo_marvin Did I purchase the wrong skis
Dear Reddit,
I just pulled the trigger on my first skis after a season of demoing. I am very excited, but also nervous that I made the wrong decision.
First off, here's some background about me: I started skiing last spring. I have taken lessons and have ~20 days on the mountain in my skiing career. I feel like I picked it up fairly quickly I can ski all blues and some blacks. I'd say I'm intermediate level. I'm 6'0" / 190 lbs. I'm a distance runner and have strong legs / I feel like I can control most skis pretty easily. I ski in the PNW (Mt Hood), but take trips occasionally out to Colorado.
I demoed many pairs this season: Bent 100s, Rossi Sender 104s, K2 Mindbender 89, Blizzard Rustler 10. The Senders and Bents weren't available at my local shops, so I went with the Rustler 10s. When I demoed these, it was early in the season and I did them on a 180 length at a hill I was not used to. I was exhausted by the end of the day, but attributed it to the unfamiliar terrain and the long day.
Here's why I'm nervous that the Rustlers may have been the wrong choice:
- I got them in 180cm length, which is longer than what I'm comfortable with. They had 172cm available, but common wisdom in the skiing community seem to say "buy longer and you'll grow into them". The sales guy echoed this.
- All reviews I watch about the Rustlers say they're for advanced to expert skiers who have a naturally aggressive/forward stance. I'm working on staying out of the back seat, but am no means naturally aggressive. I didn't know about this when I purchased them and was only going off my experience with demoing them.
Did I make the wrong choice?
Will the Rustlers hinder my progress?
I'd love to know your experiences with your first set of skis and how it turned out.
Sincerely,
A guy who loves skiing

2023.03.22 18:13 woj-espn NBA Finals Game 4 Preview - Gold vs Magic
The NBA Finals between the Colorado Springs Gold and the Orlando Magic has been an exciting series thus far, with the Gold holding a 2-1 lead over the Magic. Game 4 will be played in Orlando, where the Magic are undefeated this season.
Game 1 saw the Gold come out on top, with Vic Bennett leading the way with 35 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jack Thompson added 34 points, while Dale Nicholson recorded a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. For the Magic, Russell Walker had 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Jabari Baez added 17 points and 14 rebounds.
In Game 2, the Gold once again came out on top, winning by a score of 112-109. Jack Thompson led the way with 30 points and 7 assists, while Dale Nicholson had 27 points and 10 rebounds. Zoid Okoro contributed 23 points and 11 assists, and Iboss James had a game-winning block at the buzzer. For the Magic, Jabari Baez had a huge game with 37 points and 11 rebounds, while Russell Walker added 31 points, 9 rebounds, and 11 assists.
In Game 3, the Magic fought back and won a close game by a score of 141-140, handing the Gold their first loss in two seasons. Jabari Baez had a monster game for the Magic with 57 points and 13 rebounds, while Russell Walker recorded 35 points, 7 rebounds, and 17 assists. Edwin Gregory added 25 points and 9 assists. For the Gold, Jack Thompson had 37 points, while Zoid Okoro had 34 points and 6 assists.
Looking ahead to Game 4, the Gold will need to continue to rely on their depth and ability to score the ball at will. Dale Nicholson, Jack Thompson, Zoid Okoro, Vic Bennett, and Iboss James are all key players for the Gold and will need to play well in order to secure a victory in Orlando. The Gold also have a very good defense, which will be important in slowing down the Magic's fast-paced offense.
The Magic will need to continue to force turnovers and play at a high pace in order to be successful in Game 4. Jabari Baez and Russell Walker will once again be key players for the Magic, and will need to have big games if the Magic want to tie the series up at 2-2. Edwin Gregory will also need to continue to play well at point guard if the Magic want to keep up with the Gold's top tier backcourt.
Overall, Game 4 promises to be another exciting matchup between two talented teams. The Gold will look to continue their dominance, while the Magic will look to use their home court advantage to even up the series.

2023.03.22 17:51 Elementality818 Electronics failure while driving
Two days ago I was driving on the highway when every light possible started flashing on my dash. My power steering went out, acceleration stopped working, speedometer was out, wipers came on. My regular mechanic said he’s unable to diagnose this since Jeep/dodge/Chrysler doesn’t allow private mechanics to own their diagnostic tools (at least how it was explained to me). I have a 2019 JLU with 28k miles, still a fairly new vehicle. I’m not too vehicle savvy but I checked the grounds/straps and there’s no corrosion or damage on them. The battery is less than 4 years old and maintained a proper voltage while running as well. Has anyone had this happen to them in the past, or any advice moving forward? I scheduled an appointment with my Jeep dealership but the best they said they could do was see me in 3 weeks. Thanks in advance!

2023.03.22 14:50 shepherdastra Relocating to Colorado Springs Discussion
Gauging the locals thoughts here, is Colorado Springs worth relocating to for a somewhat young single female? Little background 30 year old single female, residing in South FL currently (it is full down here and FL is all I know and would actually like to go outside for activities), work in aerospace/defense industry also. Work remote so I’m able to pack up and move anywhere within the US. How is the dating scene and also the social scene for making new friends? If not Colorado Springs, any recommendations? Boulder has popped up but doesn’t seem all that appealing to me, unless I’m missing something. I fell in love with Colorado the times I’ve visited and keeps coming up as best pick for career and lifestyle wants/needs for me. Really open to anywhere in CO or West in general, I’m good being on my own and understand the dating scene is a dumpster fire everywhere but ultimately would like to settle down and not have the fire be too bad. My current employer and many others in the industry are located here, the drive to Denver isn’t that far drive to the city (I liked visiting Denver not so sure about living inside Denver), seems to be not too busy but also not a sleepy town in Colorado Springs also. Many bands that I enjoy either go to Denver or nearby when touring and I enjoy going to concerts. There’s plenty of hiking and beautiful scenery in Colorado Springs on it’s own. But ultimately I’m looking to settle down but still get out every once in awhile and start a new social circle also. Any and all input is greatly appreciated and helpful. 🙂
