I hope I did the right thing when faced with creepy guy
2023.06.10 20:38 Space_Goth I hope I did the right thing when faced with creepy guy
Sorry this is a bit long.
I should probably keep this somewhat vague because I’m super paranoid somehow he’ll find me. But I don’t think he’d go on this sub.
I’ll preface this story by saying this situation has never happened to me before. As in I’ve never been hit on as an adult before. There were only a few traumatic moments where old men hit on me as a minor. That was super not fun. So usually if an older man even kinda “flirts” with me, even “jokingly” it can be triggering for me.
I’m not what you’d call “conventionally attractive” as I have a butch haircut, a very alt/gothic kinda appearance and such. But I do like really glam makeup and stuff. I’m definitely someone’s type and I’m bi so I don’t really care if I appeal to the average straight guy or not. I like the way I look. In the past, I was too socially anxious for bars or parties so I was never at a place to be hit on. I also used to weigh a ton more too, so that’s another explanation as to why. Mostly circumstances though. I’m 27 but I’ve been forever single due to many of my own issues I won’t get into.
So you can imagine how jarring what happened last week was for me.
I won’t say where but I took a little trip with my parents out of state to a casino and I was blowing my money on this machine when this guy around my age staggered over to me. Yes, staggered because this guy was SO DRUNK. Super duper drunk. had a cup in his hand and was slurring his words more than Drunk Uncle from Saturday Night Live.
To say this guy was a stereotypical weirdo dudebro would be an understatement. He wasn’t ugly but wasn’t my type. Just seriously this average Joe guy. Normally he might be very threatening, but my god. His demeanor was so creepy and off-putting. I should mention that I was wearing a band shirt when this happened and that was his opener. I’ll be calling him S and redacting stuff because again… I’m paranoid. This is approximately the conversation as well as I can remember.
S: “Excuse me, is that a [band name] shirt?”
Me: “Oh yeah it is!”
S: “Ahh that’s so cool. They are so fucking awesome.”
Me: “Yeah! They are.”
S: “It looks so good on you—you’re very beautiful by the way.”
Me: “Oh. Uh. Thank you…”
S: “So my name is S. I’m [30-something] and single. I have my own apartment and job and a motorcycle. And I want you on the back of my motorcycle.”
Me: “Uhh…”
S: “Yeah we could hang out and talk about [Band]. Aw man, Band is so fucking badass.”
[I try to get him to talk about Band and tell him what album cover is on my shirt. During this conversation if I say something he stops smiling and kinda squints his eyes at me and frowns. Super bizarre. I kinda get the feeling he likes to hear himself talk and that his super chill demeanor could flip if I’m not careful. Also, he was drunk and probably barely understanding me. After a minute he keeps trying to agree to going with him on his motorcycle at some point. “Hell to the No” on that, obviously.]
S: “I know. I know. You probably have a boyfriend…”
[Joining this sub and groups like this has taught me so many things that it felt like I was taking the test IRL. I know you never tell them you’re single. I consider just for a moment saying “Sorry, man, but I have a girlfriend. I like girls.” I do like girls since I’m bi, but then I remember hearing about these assholes that get angry about it and I think about how he’s already drunk and if he has any homophobia it could come out and I could be in danger.
So I just nod in agreement and say “yeah” implying I do indeed have a boyfriend. I think to myself “If he starts getting weirder I’m gonna describe my fake boyfriend as a 6 ft tall muscular marine with tattoos and say ‘he’s around here somewhere and just to warn you, and he’s the jealous type. He won’t like you talking to me.’ I didn’t even have to get that far though luckily.
S: “We could be friends though! We could hang out later.”
Me: “I live out of state.”
S: “Me too, man! I ride motorcycle everywhere. It’s cool. What’s your name?”
Me: [fake name that I came up with so fast it was scary lol]
S: “Ahhh, Fake Name. So nice to meet you, Fake Name. You could add me on Facebook.”
Me: “I don’t really do social media, man.”
S: “We could text!”
Me: “I don’t think so, man.” (I was so afraid he was gonna get angry and was thinking I might need to get security over there if things escalated. My heart was pounding.)
S: “That’s cool. I respect that. It was so nice to meet you, Fake Name, fellow Band fan. Band fucking rules! gives me the most awkward and drunken high five ever. You have a nice night and I hope you get a BIG JACKPOT!”
Me: “haha I don’t think that’s gonna happen but I’m trying.”
S: “I hope we meet again, Fake Name. Have a good night!” leaves to go back with his buddies who are on some other machine.
Me: frantically texts me mom to come find me
After this I met my parents and we immediately went to go cash out and this mf was semi following us. He was with his group of buddies and he wasn’t even looking at me, just walking towards to exit at the same time!!! I was severely creeped out and told my parents briefly there was a creepy guy. Luckily they didn’t end up leaving behind us and got distracted by something shiny across the room and went back inside. I was so weirded out by this because of his odd demeanor, his, persistence and Nice Guy vibes.
In all seriousness, this was a scary situation for me that I wasn’t prepared for. I know it won’t be the first time this will happen but I’d love to know if there’s anything I did wrong here. I feel proud of myself for standing my ground and now I feel like I have gained a lot of self esteem because I was able to reject him and not let him walk all over me and pressure me. I don’t owe him anything. Not my number, not my time, not anything. Too many red flags. This is not the way you go about “making friends.”
Sorry for the length. Thanks for reading.
TLDR; First time being hit on. Drunk guy hits on me then suggest we be “friends.” I give him a fake name and reject him. Luckily he didn’t get angry but it could’ve gone way worse.

2023.06.10 20:21 caberneighneigh I have a $50 gift card to use and want to try a new moisturizer or cream. I have superrrrr dry skin. What’s the most moisturizing cream or moisturizer you’ve used? I’ve included lists of what I’ve tried & am looking at.
I have super dry skin that gets flaky if I don’t stay on top of my skincare and water intake. I’m not worried about acne or a product being too rich and don’t wear makeup most days.
I’ve tried a ton of moisturizers and wanted to use them up before purchasing a new one.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
• Tatcha Dewy Skin & Water Cream (love the feel of this but probs too lightweight for my skin)
• Drunk Elephant Lala Retro & Polypeptide Cream (used years ago and liked, but stopped due to price tag I think)
• Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
• Farmacy Honey Halo Ceramide Moisturizer (liked but wasn’t sure on the scent)
• SkinFix Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream (liked but didn’t blow me away)
• Fresh Rose & Hyaluronic Acid Deep Hydration Face Cream
• Paula’s Choice Skin Recovery Daily Lotion & Treatment Balm
Currently loving:
• All Dr. Jart products, particularly the ceramidin cream but that isn’t moisturizing enough for me to use on its own
• Korres Grape Velvet Skin Drink to layer on top
Looking at:
• First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
• Kiehls Ultra Face Cream
• Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb
• IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream
• Trying Drunk Elephant again?
Would so appreciate any advice or feedback on these products or others I should look at. I’m also open to purchasing drug store and using my gift card for something else.
Thank you!!

2023.06.10 19:29 Cmarch90 Am I just in the minority?
So I can't have THC, it makes me straight up hallucinate and sick as fuck. I've never had anything with THC and didn't end up puking. The last time I tried was like 3 years ago. Fast forward to about 2 months ago, I started taking CBD gummies (brand: Swag) and I finally felt like maybe I had found something I could take for insomnia/anxiety. I was taking them daily and felt fine. They just mellowed me out. Fast forward yet again to this past week. Whenever I took one, I felt incredibly loopy/out of it. To the point my 13 year old made a comment asking if I had been drinking (sober for almost a year).
Then, last night it got worse. I took my gummy before bed like always and within 20 minutes I felt FUCKED UP. Like room spinning, apparently my youngest son came in my room and I barely even remember it. I hated the way I was feeling and just forced myself to keep my eyes closed and try to fall asleep but my heart was racing and I was freaking out. I hate the feeling of being intoxicated now after quitting drinking. It's the worst. I ended up sitting up and leaning over the bed and vomited. I couldn't physically get up and take myself to the bathroom, I tried and it was like my feet were just bolted to the floor. My 13 yr old heard me puking and brought in a bucket for me. It went on for no less than 2 hours. It got to the point I was just dry heaving and choking on my own gagging, all while being totally out of it panicking thinking I was going to die. It was intense. I started puking up blood (I think it was either from irritation to my throat, or my sinuses drying out but idk for sure) but either way I was non stop puking. Everytime I would feel "better", as soon as I moved even the slightest amount it would come back and I'd be puking again. I had to sit completely still to get any type of relief and for the room to stop sitting. Even blowing my nose was too much movement.
What the fuck gives man. I've been taking these gummies for a couple months now but it's like my body all of sudden doesn't like them? Idk.
And no, it wasn't just a stomach bug or something. I felt perfectly fine up until taking the gummies, and I feel fine today (aside from my throat feeling like it's on fire and body aches from violent vomiting). And it wasn't just throwing up, I felt FUCKED UP. Like I had spent all night chugging vodka on an empty stomach.
I won't be taking them anymore, which sucks because they initially did help with my anxiety. Has anyone else had an experience like mine? I keep reading that CBD doesn't get you fucked up because it doesn't have psychoactive properties or whatever. But it definitely did get me fucked up, in the worst way imaginable.

2023.06.10 19:29 elliearcade Dudes—give it to me straight up, what is this dude doing? I don’t want any sugar coating.
Just give me a straight up answer, don’t sugar coat it.
What’s up with this dude?
I (22) met a guy (21) over a month ago at a college bar. He was staring at me all night, but never approached me so finally when he just stayed lingering around me all night, I finally said something to break the ice. He sat with me all night, but didn’t say much, but also wouldn’t leave my side. I took it as he wasn’t interested so I didn’t bother asking for his number or anything and left that night in the dust.
The next morning, his friend snapchats my girl friend I was out with and says his buddy, the one I met, really wanted my number. I gave it to him through his friend which was weird, but I figured maybe he’s shy so I found it kinda cute. He texts me a couple hours later and we text for a week and the conversation was pretty dry and he took a long time to reply. So I stopped texting, figured he wasn’t interested or was stringing me along.
A couple days later, after i stoped texting him, he asked if I wanted to go get ice cream and “hangout” at like 10:00 PM. I wasn’t sure if that meant hooking up, which I’m not interested in, but I agreed anyway and the date itself was fine. We cuddled a little and watched TV and talked and that was it. Super innocent.
I texted him after the date, saying thanks for paying and yadda yadda, and he continued the conversation. Like before, still pretty dry and we would take hours to respond, but he kept it going.
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago, he texted me saying hes home for summer break and I joked and said “ok see you never ig” and he said he’d see me again when he’s back. But he sorta left me on read after and he’s not back till August. We haven’t texted since and I doubt we’ll text again.
Is this dude playing me, is he immature, shy, or am I reading too much into this? Maybe he’s just not into texting, but to me, that shows a level of disinterest. How can he swoop back in August when we’re not gonna text all summer? Or am I delusional for thinking he’ll actually hit me up again? I’m just confused.
Hope this all makes sense, any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated!😅

2023.06.10 19:27 informallory Bottom half/underside of hair dry, very frizzy, knots easily, top is flat - can't tell if struggling with low-porosity/protein issues or if it's self done so looking for advice!
Hello! First time poster here, so I hope I'm getting all the reqs down for posting here:
2b, very dense, very fine hair. I wear it long and consistently washed it about 3/4 times a week with varying shampoos and conditioners up until about 2 weeks ago; I had been using
this for a few months and then switched to
this conditioner and deep conditioner for about a month after learning about low-protein hair stuff, but the aussie stuff seemed to make everything 100x worse.
I started using
clarifying shampoo once a week (once so far) because I use dry shampoo a
loooooooot and then
this line for regular washes and condition. Clairfying shampoo did definitely leave my hair feelings less rat's nest-esque once it dried and all later, so I definitely think I had way more build up than I expected.
I get my hair professionally colored maybe once a year or less, I get between 3-6 haircuts a year, I don't blow dry, partly because never really learned, but mostly because my hair takes ages to dry. If I shower in the morning my hair won't be fully dry for probably 6 hours. Only use heat tools once or twice a year as well.
The thing is that I've pretty much always done the same stuff to my hair; it's never been "perfect, super beautiful, sheeny, soft hair, but it wasn't always like this. I've always bounced around with products, used dry shampoo, wear it up a lot (mostly clips or scrunchies, but hair ties for the gym), so it's odd to me that just suddenly in the last 6 months or so it's gotten sooo much worse. It could be I never really paid a whole lot of attention to it, my hair also hasn't been this long in many many years when it was also always a fucking mess but I attributed that back then to me being 20 and dumb and not taking care of my hair, but I also started a new job recently that is way more high pressure than I've ever worked in before and hair touching has always been my fidget of choice, so I know I'm just touching it, twirling it around my fingers, tucking and un-tucking it, etc etc, way more than I caught myself doing even a year ago.
I guess I'm interested in hearing y'alls thoughts since this is the wavy hair sub and I just never really learned a lot about hair! My hair dressers in the past when I asked about why parts of my hair were dry and frizzy and if they could recommend a mask or leave-in, they said my hair was mostly healthy except for the few dry areas and using too much stuff like that would just weigh the healthy hair down.

2023.06.10 18:55 Pappa_K Breeder looking for deshedding understanding.
Hello, me and my wife are Alaskan Malamute dog breeders we currently have 8 but are expanding. We do our own washing and 'grooming'; shaving paw pads, brushing, trimming, dematting etc. We have a hydrobath and a blower but we just use it for washing and drying the dogs and use undercoat rakes during each of their twice yearly coat blowouts.
Is there any attachments for the hydrobath we can purchase to help deshed the dogs when their coats blow? Likewise can we use the blower to remove the undercoat? I'm asking because we've seen hose attachments for the water that concentrate the flow to "push" the undercoat out? And we've seen groomers use a blower to blow the undercoat off.
With deshedding shampoo is there a brand that we can apply during the wash to help them loose their undercoat faster? Or to help it wash out? Or does it just help to stop the loss of the undercoat during the rest of the year?
Thank you in advance.

I have naturally wavy hair but recently i’ve been straightening my hair and i’m wondering if i can keep straightening it without damaging my natural hair?
Like if i were to blow dry my hair every 2 weeks (my hairs able to go a while without needing to be washed when straight tbh) and use heatless curlers instead of a flat iron could i keep my hair from getting really damaged?

Profile
Executor, the Laterano Notarial Hall's legal and professional executor, is in charge of enforcing the rights of the Laterano Citizen numbered one through thirteen.
He now has the title "Saint" bestowed upon him by the present Pope of Laterano, Yvangelista XI. Laterano has not barred this "Saint" from contacting us; the collaboration between the Laterano Notarial Hall and Rhodes Island is growing stronger by the day. Operator Executor is still under contract to serve Rhodes Island and carry out activities pertaining to the rights of Laterano citizens.
Clinical Analysis
Imaging tests reveal clear, normal outlines of internal organs, and no abnormal shadows have been detected. Originium granules have not been detected in the circulatory system and there are no other signs of infection. At this time, this operator can be confirmed to be uninfected.
[Cell-Originium Assimilation] 0% Operator Executor shows no signs of Oripathy infection.
[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.13u/L A slight increase in blood Originium-Crystal density. It's not particularly dangerous, but it deserves more attention. So, what's the word, has his interpersonal relationship been trending upwards lately? Has anyone looked into it?--Medic Operator T.O.
Archive File 1
Despite the title "Saint", Operator Executor is still associated with the Laterano Notarial Hall. As an executor, the Notarial Hall retains the authority to send assignments to him, and the added special title does not appear to have had a significant impact on his work.
Executor, who has returned to Rhodes Island, has changed, at least in appearance, from what they were previously.
According to Executor, as well as the explanations and additions of several enthusiastic operators, we have learned that the clothing currently worn by Executor is provided entirely by the Lateran Church, and that the choice of materials for this carefully cut special clothing is very different from that of ordinary clothing, with emphasis not only on aesthetic comfort but also on its practicality——with Executor's permission, we have carried out a series of tests on his coat, which have shown that the uniforms provided by the Lateran church for Executor offers protection against impact and puncture, and even a degree of protection against explosives.
In addition to this, the two firearms carried by Executor also caught the attention of some of Sankta operators. When fighting with the two firearms, Executor's combat style becomes more aggressive and varied in his attacks than before.
"During the last mission, Federico used his gun to directly knock out any enemy that came near him." Operator Spuria commented, "I can see this guy finishing the mission even if he was given a stick or left empty-handed, his combat style isn't even related to his guns."
"Huh? Then why the special look, you ask?"
"Because everyone thinks it's more imposing, of course!"
[Engineering Department permission log]
Regarding the mechanical flying object that follows Executor around, I initially thought it was just some kind of unique looking drone. However, I've seen it in action in Executor's battle logs, and it was probably more than a mere support drone, it had more functions......
But even Executor himself didn't know much about it; according to him, it had been handed to him directly by his Holiness, their Pope.
What secrets are in this little thing? It's tickling, if only I could try to dismantle it sometime to see ......
Archive File 2
"Operator Executor has been asking more questions."
This is a sentiment shared by various operators within Rhodes recently.
Yes, certain changes with Executor have been visible in recent times - it's not that Executor has suddenly become emotionally outgoing and easy to read. That is by no means the case. Simply put, people don't react too strongly when a person who consistently receives 90 points receives an extra mark, but they do so when a person who consistently submits blank papers suddenly begins writing seriously. Of course, everyone would notice this immediately.
Such is the case of Executor. Many operators who had encountered Executor similarly mentioned in casual conversations - that Executor had started asking them questions.
"He asked me why I didn't just kidnap the client." "Haha, you're already lucky, he asked me why I didn't just blow up the building to prevent the mission target from escaping ......" "...... How did you respond?" "What else could I have replied with, I just decided to tell him the truth; it saves more of the hassle. Blowing up the building for a mission seems good and all, but it's the follow-up that makes it rather difficult to do!" "He listened?" "Yes. What about your side?" "Er, more or less, it's quick to kidnap people right away, but that would be too much trouble." "Executor he...... He said that although he couldn't understand, after taking everything else into consideration, he admitted that our method was more reasonable and efficient......
Executor's abnormal behavior has caused some concern, and combined with recent feedback from some operators, we can speculate that Executor is trying to incorporate more factors into his thinking about the reasonableness of his actions, and that he seems to be incorporating practice and constantly trying to accomplish tasks in a better and more reasonable way.
"I feel like he's just recently added some new algorithm. It's a bit better than before, but there are still times when he derives some strange results." "You mean the time he tackled a group of bandits, covered in blood and was still ready to pacify his target like you suggested, but ended up scaring people half to death because of his expressionless face?"
[Medical Department Work Record]
I have had feedback from my officers that Executor seems to be suspecting that he is suffering from some sort of illness, as evidenced by occasional actions that take precedence, some of which seem puzzling to Executor himself. As a result, he is visiting the medical department for regular medical check-ups rather unnecessarily frequently.
"It's right to focus on regular health checks, and that's a good thing." The medical officer who complained to us had a tone of helplessness: "But he really doesn't have anything wrong with him at all except his head. Really."
Off-topic:
Some of our department's officers were also pleased with the performance of Executor and are discussing to make him into a typical textbook example, to be used as a reminder to patients who really need to be checked but refuse to do so.
Archive File 3
[Transcript of internal conversation in Hall 5, 1]
Federico is an excellent executor. Yes, I can vouch for that. It is not clear why His Holiness would confer the title of "saint" on him at such a sensitive point, but if he is a good young man, I think he is capable of undertaking and meeting His Holiness's expectations.
About Federico's background? There are no problems with his background, I remember that his parents were also attached to the Fifth Office and the file should be at...... Just a moment, let me look for the records. Ah, here they are, the Giallo's, both legal executors attached to the Notarial Hall, very good and capable, but unfortunately both were killed in the line of duty during a mission fifteen years ago. Federico would have been about ten years old at the time? Poor kid.
So what made you suddenly look into Federico's affairs? Just because of the "saints"?
...... Arturia Giallo, you ask?
...... First of all, I must make one thing clear:
Federico's file was rigorously vetted at the time of his induction and there was no problem with the process.
Remember that. This is the premise on which we will move on.
Arturia Giallo, whose father and Federico's father were cousins, is very clearly documented in the file and there is nothing to hide. After the Giallo's were killed in the line of duty, Federico stayed in the home of this cousin for a period of time, about...... two to three years, I think, after which he entered secondary school and began to live there.
By the way, it was Federico, who was a newcomer at the time, to first find out about Arturia's crimes seven years earlier, which forced her to leave Laterano. As a result, Arturia's wanted mission has been in his hands all these years. The young man's first case always has a special significance, I think.
No, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. We did a detailed investigation during the time when Arturia first became wanted, and as far as I know, Federico and Arturia were never close to each other, and that doesn't affect his work; Federico's performance has always said it all. [Transcript of internal conversation in Hall 5, 2]
Arturia had a week's stay at the Ambrosius Abbey, after which we judged that she would go to Leithanien, the report of which I have submitted to the Notarial Hall.
I cannot reveal in advance the follow-up and related matters that His Holiness the Pope has arranged.
Sister?
In terms of kinship, Arturia is only a distant relative to whom I do not need to use such titles, questions like these are meaningless.

The name "Saint" may remind us of the saints of the Iberian Inquisition, which, although originally a term of respect taken from the Laterano religion, has now been digested by Iberia and is known to the Iberian people as a unique cultural expression of its own.
For the Laterans, the term "Saint" is not simply a casual term.
In all the texts relating to Laterano history, there are accounts of the first generation of saints who built stone towers and founded sacred cities. This first group of Sanktas led the people to build the foundations of Laterano, and generations of people have continued to make peace for a thousand years, creating the peaceful Laterano that exists today, far from the fires of war.
Apart from the first sages who founded the city-state, it is only the Pope who is given the title of "Saint" at the time of his appointment, which is not only an honour but also an important responsibility to lead all Sanktas and guide the city. For thousands of years, the title of "Saint" has been passed down from one pope to the next without exception - and this millennium-old tradition was broken by the decision of Yvangelista XI.
Federico Giallo became the first Saint to be elected outside the millennium.
Why such a surprising election? Executor was, undoubtly, an excellent executor, but it's not as if there were no more valiant combatants in Laterano, no lack of more devout believers, no shortage of prestigious figures, and everyone had the same question - why Federico? Why would he be worthy of the title?
Despite Executor's remarkable performance, his seemingly unaffected attitude and the unique atmosphere of the Laterano made the event somewhat less shocking, there was no denying that His Holiness' decision was completely unorthodox and alarming.
For what reason did this wise and current Pope take this decision and what signal is he sending by doing so? Executor told us that the Pope had mentioned a disaster coming to this land, but what kind of disaster would make the holy city of Laterano, which has been at peace for a thousand years, take such urgent measures?
Federico Giallo was his first choice, what comes after that? Will we see a second or third unconventional saintly eminence elected in Laterano?
Dr Kal'tsit seems to be quite concerned about Executor and the news about Laterano, I think...... Perhaps we should prepare for this in advance as well.
[Excerpt from Kal'tsit's private journal]
There is no doubt that this is a warning from the machine in Laterano, that a disaster is coming, and we all know full well that Laterano cannot be left alone in it, or even ...... The disaster will be the first to destroy Laterano.
And the so-called "saints" were undoubtedly the solution chosen by Evangelista XI to deal with it.
"The Saints" ...... The one who guides all the Sanktas on their journey?
Well, there will never be just one guide, and perhaps soon we will see more of these exceptions, more of the unconventional Laterano "saints".
They will be the cornerstone of Laterano, the hope visible in the midst of calamity, the choice when all is naught.
As for the disaster......
I still cannot give a definite answer, although that answer is becoming clearer in my mind.
Too many precursors, too many traces.
It'll be coming soon, fast.
Promotion Record
Executor has noticed that he occasionally lapses into thought.
After the mission at the Ambrosius Abbey, his thoughts often lagged, and Executor decided that he had stumbled upon his most difficult situation to date.
Letting emotions get in the way of action was something Executor could not understand. The rationality of action, that was the dilemma that plagued him.
He had not yet reached a clear conclusion. But Executor knows exactly how to act - all he has to do is still do his job, no different from before.
If there is a problem, try to solve it.
If you have doubts, find someone to solve them.
[Transcript]
"I saw Executor the other day ...... Yes, that Executor."
"Ah, I know, it's the one all of you from the dorms were head over heels for, right?"
"We gave up a long time ago! But I saw, I saw him actually pondering over a flower ......"
"......Did one of you sneak off again?"
"No! That's not what happened! He had a weird serious look on his face, like he was thinking about some mega dilemma, and I didn't even dare to say hello to him."
"...... Hmmm ...... I get it then."
"What do you understand?"
"Calm down and think about it, it mustn't be a normal situation to have that Executor pondering so much."
"Oh, oh?"
"Can you really be sure that it's flowers he's holding? Not some kind of bomb or auxiliary prop? It's just in the form of a flower, so maybe it's some new kind of mine?"
"...... When you say it like that, it feels like it really could be that, sigh......"
"That's right, it shouldn't be some simple flower, it's very difficult to make sense of."
"That makes sense...... I saw him hand it to the Doctor afterwards, do you think it could have something to do with a classified mission?"

2023.06.10 16:37 DollsAndSpooks Rainy Days Are Here
| I am just thankful that the weather is starting to turn more chilly. The humid weather we have been having has been very hard. I slept like a log earlier because I was so comfortable but when I woke up, our dogs escaped into the garage and got wet in the rain. So I immediately blow dried them. We cannot risk them getting sniffles and colds. submitted by DollsAndSpooks to americangirl [link] [comments] |
2023.06.10 16:26 crispyburnerr Driving in rain and advice to avoid rust?
Title. I just bought a really clean 1997 Rev 5 T-Bar, no rust anywhere, perfect paint, t-bar seals don't leak and was previously garaged for 10 years. I've barely drove it so far since its untaxed and it's been really sunny recently. I'm considering taking it to a car park when its taxed and insured just to test the handling and get a feel of it although the tyres are new. I'm also just going to be driving it around 3 days a week.
Has anyone had any problems with rust in the rain or handling? Obviously don't drive too fast and have good tyres but is there anything else to note? I'm also waxing and washing it every 3 months like the previous owner did.
I also store it outside and have a thin cover for it which I'll use most of the time, unless the car is wet and has been driving in the rain then I will let it air dry.
Anyone have any advice? Just looking to keep it in mint condition and completely avoid spinning it out or kicking the rear end out

2023.06.10 16:15 GelitonMan1 The Mushy Merc Chapter 1: The Interview (warning: it's my first real time writing)
*Geliton Man walks into the mercenary contract center posed as a sleezy, grimy bar that he learned about on a website. The place stank of cigarettes, hard liquor and pure adrenaline, the wallpaper was lumpy from years of wood rot, mold and what seemed like grease. Vague hints of dried blood was splattered on the floor as the florescent lights hummed and buzzed with one in the left corner flickering on and off. The bartender looks up at the new face on this strange slug of a man and analyze him*
Bartender: "Name's Jorden, the hell you doin' here?"
Gelly: "Good Moro my fine gentleman and gum under the government's shoe, I'm here for 2 things, a job to kill someone and your strongest alcohol." *All eyes in the bar now lay on this rotund stranger*
Jorden: "1) All we got is cheap booze and 2) other than the drunken fights that lead to death, we don't get anyone to kill someone else."
Gelly: "But the website... Oh I see! I need to prove myself, show that I'm able to tango with you ruffians." *Jorden looks at Gelly with confusion as the fat guy walks over to the biggest man in the bar the locals and website call "The Billdozer" the 34 consecutive Merc of the Month*
Billdozer: "HAHAHA! You really think a tiny boy like you can take me down?!" *The 7' 5" man stands and clearly towers over Gelly as he cracks his knuckles* "I can literally break a person in half like a twig! I don't wear body armor cuz I can flex, and bullets bounce off me!"
Gelly: "Actually, I'm a man, says so on my name tag AND all my stationary." *He forms multiple hands out of his fingers as he pulls out a random assortment of office supplies out of, what seems like, nowhere* "See, 'MAAAAN-NUH'!"
*Bill is taken aback by the strange abilities of this man, but quickly brushes it off as he starts to attack, lunging his giant meat hook of a hand into Gelly's face palm open. He grabs Gelly's head and squeezes it, cracking his skull like an egg and squishing his brain like macaroni salad as blood practically explodes out of the once smug and smartass head. The headless body falls backwards to the floor and Bill goes back to his chair to finish his drink. Suddenly, the head chunks start moving to the body and begin reforming the head as the body rises opposite of how it fell*
Gelly: "Fuck you man, now I've got a tuft of hair growing out of my brain! It itches like hell." *His brain begins to hurt more as he feels a memory reform, a feminine face he can't place the name of or how he knows her*
Gelly Thinking: "Who the hell? Ugh what a headache. But no matter, time to teach this loony loser a lesson."
*Bill is mortified by his opponent's resurrection* Bill: "How is this possible?"
Gelly: "Get ready big boi, for pain...without end!" *Gelly throws his stationary away and morphs his toes into 1 spike, and kicks Bill in the groin which also stabs him there. Bill's face goes pale white as he lets out a high-pitched wince and begins to faint, but Gelly grabs his head and shoves it downward into Bill's body, same with his arms, then his legs until Bill was nothing but a torso. He then picks the turtle-ified body up* "Hmm, I think this would make a cool trophy on my mantle."
*Jorden pops up from his hiding spot under the bar* "WHY THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?!"
Gelly *confused*: "Toooo prove my mettle? Job interview style?"
Jorden: "More like prison style. Beside dumbass, all you needed to do if you wanted to be a mercenary is say the password and I would have put you thru some tests."
Gelly: "Oh.... So do I got the job?"
Jorden: *sigh* "Sure man, whateva, just get the hell outta here and I'll call you when a contract opens."
Gelly: "Amazingable, welp, till next time fellow scum of the universe!" *Gelly joyfully strolls out as he hums Peace of Mind by Imagine Dragons with his torso trophy under his arm*
Jorden: "I'm gonna need so much Ibuprofen with this guy."

2023.06.10 16:02 Timely-Elk8291 Trip report: Geezer first-timers--May 8-June 5. Last of 3 parts: Tokyo, Nikko, Kamakura
For independent western travelers, Japan demands more planning than, say, a trip through Europe. But the corresponding rewards are huge. And you absolutely don't need to hire a guide, so long as you do basic homework (which is half the fun of travel, anyway).
This is the last of three reports from our recent four-week journey, covering ten nights in Tokyo, one in Nikko and three in Kamakura.
HIGHLIGHTS
Tokyo--Nippon Professional Baseball at Tokyo Dome; May Grand Sumo tournament, Hamarikyu garden; Tuna auction
Nikko--Toshugo shrine
Kamakura--Sunset spectacle at a seaside park
TOKYO, Monday 5/22
For this 7-night leg, we chose Park Hotel Tokyo (the top floors of the Shiodome Media Tower; $208/night with breakfast). The lobby is on the 25th floor, requiring separate elevator rides to reach your room. Access to subways is a mixed bag (Shiodome Station is next door; more useful Shimbashi is a longer walk). There were far more Americans than our other hotels, and the ample breakfast buffet wasn't as fabulous, either (an admittedly high bar). On the other hand, the area teems with great, affordable places to eat. Our room had something we'd never experienced: a fog-free bathroom mirror (the new must-have!). And when we opened the curtains of our 28th floor room in the morning, there was Fuji in all her glory, an unforgettable vista. What more could you want?
TOKYO, Tuesday 5/23
Our first stop on a drizzly day was the Imperial Palace grounds, last of our highly recommended Imperial Household Agency tours. The adjacent East Garden, open to all, is worth seeing, too.
After lunch, we checked out the nearby National Museum of Modern Art. Kudos to management for allowing photography. The highlights room on the top floor is a great survey, and if you're short on time you could skip the rest, unless a special exhibition piques your interest.
We caught a fantastic show about Tokugawa Ieyasu at the private Mitsui Memorial Museum--the best single exhibition we saw. Unfortunately, it closes tomorrow, June 11; but that's a place you might keep an eye on.
TOKYO, Wednesday 5/24
We visited Senso-ji first thing. We liked it so much we went back a few nights later to see it lit up. Either way, it's a must.
Lunch was at Onigiri Asakusa Yadoroku, a welcoming place that's been dishing up made-to-order onigiri for almost 70 years. It's a Bib Gourmand. Show up just before 11 am to avoid a wait; otherwise, you'll be given a time to return for a seat.
We went to Tokyo Dome to catch a Yomiuri Giants game, stopping off first at the adjacent, very worthwhile, landscape garden, Koishikawa Korakuen (geezers over 65 half-price!). The game itself was a trip, much like an American football game, with non-stop chants by fans and on-field cheerleaders between innings. Our lower-deck seats, bought in advance from the team's website, cost under $35 each.
TOKYO, Thursday 5/25
Like other great cities, like New York or Paris, Tokyo is made for strolling. On this day, we were flaneurs, with stops along Omotesando, the tree-shaded fashion avenue that calls itself Harajuku Champs-Elysees, and hip Cat Street nearby. The area wakes up slowly, so consider a visit at midday or later.
Lunch was a pure pig-out (pun intended) at Tonkatsu Nanaido. Can't recommend it highly enough; the wait was a tolerable 30 minutes (dinner reservations possible). Try to ignore the health implications of tender pork, fried (extremely lightly) in pure lard. Pure heaven.
TOKYO, Friday 5/26
Meiji Shrine and garden got us going in the morning, and the Meiji Jingu Museum was well worth a stop.
We were somewhat ambivalent about sumo but bought advance tickets to the big May tournament because, well, when might we ever see sumo in person again? It turned out to be the surprise hit of the trip: a spectacle with deep historic roots, more engaging and suspenseful than we imagined. Advance online tickets are gettable; no middleman required.
TOKYO, Saturday 5/27
The Tokyo National Museum lives up to its reputation as the best in the country (at least the best we saw). We made repeated visits and still didn't see it all. And it's free for those of us over 70. One of our favorite items: a 1,500-year-old ceramic sculpture of sumo wrestlers and a judge. The museum's enlightened view toward photography means we'll always have our pictures to remind us of what we saw.
TOKYO, Sunday 5/28
We spent a relaxed Sunday morning at verdant Hamarikyu Gardens, a park that borders Tokyo Bay. The former playground of feudal shoguns is an urban oasis of water features and classic landscape design. You can happily spend a couple hours strolling its paths.
In the afternoon, we checked out Ginza's main drag, closed to vehicle traffic. We wish, though, that we'd known that Akihabara's Chuo-dori is also pedestrianized on Sunday afternoons.
NIKKO, Monday 5/29
We cabbed it to Asakusa Station and caught the Tobu Kegon express to Nikko. Light rain didn't stop us --or hundreds of other umbrella toters--from visiting glorious Toshugo Shrine. Far better, though, was our visit the next day. At 8:30 a.m., the shrine was essentially deserted; crowds started arriving at 9:30. That quiet morning hour was reason enough to have spent the night in Nikko. It also kept us ahead of the crowds at Rinnoji Temple and nearby Taiyuin and Futarasan Shrine, all well worth visiting.
Nikko Station Hotel Classic ($270, including excellent meals) was the most old-school place we stayed (They still put top sheets on the beds). Masking is requested, and at breakfast, guests are asked to don plastic gloves before going through the buffet line. The onsen in the basement was absolutely first-rate, as was our meticulously prepared tofu kaiseki dinner at the hotel restaurant.
TOKYO, Tuesday 5/30
For our third and final Tokyo stop, we chose the Ueno area and weren't disappointed. The well-run and sophisticated Nohga Hotel Ueno Tokyo ($217/night, including breakfast) is on a quiet street just a short walk from Ueno Station and park, with its many attractions.
TOKYO, Wednesday 5/31
We wandered through Yanesen, a traditional neighborhood sometimes described as a hidden gem, and began our end-of-trip shopping on mid-century Yanaka Ginza.
Lunch was at Inshotei, a lovely traditional restaurant in the heart of Ueno Park, booked online before our trip. 3.59 on Tabelog.
TOKYO, Thursday 6/1
Tuna! We initially took a pass on the early morning auction, discouraged by reviews on this sub and elsewhere that dismiss the relatively new Toyosu auction site as vastly inferior to the former one at Tsukiji market. But an old Japan hand persuaded us to give it a try. We're extremely happy we did. We were lucky enough to get tickets to the open-air observation platform and the experience became a trip highlight.
Up and out by cab before 4:30 a.m., we had about half an hour to watch and hear the action directly below us. It may not be Tsukiji, but it's the only Tokyo tuna auction you've got. I say go, especially if you can snag open-air gallery passes.
KAMAKURA, Friday 6/2
There weren't a lot of great choices for lodging in the coastal town of Kamakura (a day trip for Tokyo residents). We needed a quick getaway to Haneda Airport on Monday morning, and Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura, a JR East property, fit the bill. It was pricey ($292 per night with meals) but our room was spacious, even luxurious by Japanese standards, and smack in the middle of the action.
KAMAKURA, Saturday 6/3
I wondered, before leaving home, if we'd get templed-out, like other travelers do. It never happened, though torrential rainfall, spun from the remnants of Typhoon Mawar, tested us at the end. On the plus side, we had the Great Buddha and Hachimangu Shrine completely to ourselves; the downside was soaked clothing and shoes that would take time to dry out (fortunately, we brought extra pairs, and our collapsible umbrellas did the best they could).
By afternoon, the skies cleared and hundreds of surfers rushed to ride the storm-generated surf. We caught the action from the sands of Yuigahama Beach.
KAMAKURA, Sunday 6/4
Early, before other tourists arrived, we checked out Engakuji temple, but were helpless in the face of Sunday crowds at Meigetsuin temple, better known as Hydrangea Temple. The blossoms were exploding after the rain but visitors clogged the pathways. We fled to Kenchoji, totally empty by comparison, and had a final, restorative Zen moment in the peaceful garden behind the main hall.
Last stop of the tour, after one more omakase sushi dinner, was sunset at Inamuragasaki Park. We never expected what we found: a spectacular view of Fuji, the entire mountain outlined against a multi-colored sky, with pounding waves and a few hardcore surfers in the foreground.
It was a concluding surprise in a trip filled with them, a journey that greatly exceeded expectations. Four weeks turned out to be just about right for a couple of geezers. But it left lots of stuff on the cutting room floor, like Nagasaki, which I still want to see, and much more. Next time, maybe.

2023.06.10 16:00 HelloKidney Is a large Happy Hoodie the right size for a 60lb dood?
I want to get my guy a Happy Hoodie for blow drying after baths. Both poodles & goldens are listed under large for their size recommendations, but he has such a skinny face I’m tempted to go down a size. On the other hand he does have a big fluffy Afro. Does anyone have a Happy Hoodie that can give some input on which size would be best?

2023.06.10 15:58 Frosty_Taste_4942 The thoughts are coming back…
I’ve spent the past few weeks doing pretty well actually! However just the other day things got a little bad…Me and my partner have been really learning how to communicate, this has been very difficult for both of us…I feel as if I’m a burden if I talk about what is bothering me, and partially due to my home life… I’m afraid everyone will just blow up at me, and probably not speak to me…Where as my partner was raised in a much much worse environment and struggles very much with expressing himself, typically he shuts down if he’s agitated or upset…However he’s been doing remarkably well, my thoughts are returning however due to his mood swings, we still live with our parents and we have talked about this in great detail, he just gets extremely overwhelmed by being around his family, and their actions, that he shuts down and gets angry. When we are together we typically have a wonderful time (despite the 7 months I spent with my thoughts unable to enjoy the time) and he typically only gets irritated with me if he’s feeling very overwhelmed (I’m energetic and he’s much more calm, which I can totally understand). My brain is saying this is abuse! You’re telling him we need to work on it but what if he’s not?! He doesn’t seem to care about you at all! (If he didn’t care about me he wouldn’t have spent the past 7-8 months comforting and trying to help me, especially when I was being fucking cruel due to my thoughts and anxiety.) like god forbid he’s dry over the phone (he absolutely sucks at texting lmao) or he have a bad day I take it so so personally and overthink AND I made the mistake of going on TikTok, where everyone’s standards are SO fucking high, and all these partners are so perfect and how if someone doesn’t do, this this and this, they are an asshole…My brain is like
‘You’re done, leave his ass.’ I love him though, and we’ve been doing so much better, is he being toxic? (I know I can’t ask for reassurance, idk if this is asking for it…)
