So I was playing civil gaming's (I think they changed their name or brand or something) Scp RP on Gmod, everything was fine until about 30 minutes after when the screen suddenly went black and sound stopped, but the pc was still on. Long story short my dad helped a little and the pc is now on, but the drivers don't work or something, I think he said. When I load Gmod, my dad said that it's running through the CPU and not the graphics card (if I remember correctly) so it was using up most of the CPU, not running any mods, just the platform. So I thought I'd go play modded minecraft on forge, but when I try to play it, it says "pixel format not acceleratated". I looked on Google and it said it had something to do with the drives. I reinstalled the old drives we had (some Nvidia thing (472.12)) but that didn't solve the problem. (I've probably skipped some parts and left out information) can anyone help?

So the screen on my google pixel 7 pro has a giant crack in it, and the screen is completly broken. It's unresponsive to touch, there is a big white line that crosses over the screen, and the bottom half flickers and doesnt turn on half the time. I'm paying 10 dollars a month for Google Care and filed a claim about a week ago and I still haven't heard back from them. How long does it typically take for them to respond? and is there a phone number I can call to get a hold of them?

My Pixel 4 took its last breath earlier this week (motherboard died) after serving me well for a little over 3.5 years. Sucks that this happened especially since I recently replaced the battery last year in July.
Anyways, I was using a spare device (e.g., OnePlus 5) while I was searching around for a new phone. I considered getting the Pixel 7a (was out of my budget and didn't really feel like financing the phone), Pixel 6a ($199 promo deal on Google Fi), and the Moto G Stylus 5G (2022) ($149/$250 on Google Fi/Amazon - mainly due to increased/expandable storage).
After some careful consideration I decided to get the Pixel 6a. I was surprised how fast the shipping was considering I used the economic/free shipping (literally arrived the next day lol). I'm currently still waiting on some accessories (i.e., screen protector, lens protector, 2 cases - 1 official from the Google Store and 1 from Amazon, as well as a Qi wireless receiver). Finished setting the device up yesterday evening/today early morning and here are some of my thoughts:
Overall, I feel like it's a worthy upgrade despite it lacking some features. Certainly no deal breaker.

I’ve been seeing a lot of great reviews about the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra (aka Motorola Razr Plus) online and I’m thinking of getting one, but the issues I face with my Google Pixel 5 when it comes to the lack of 5G or VoLTE has me second-gussing myself.
If you guys have any knowledge on it or first-hand experience, I’d appreciate the input!

2023.06.10 18:47 WarmKaiserRoll Pixel 7 Crack UNDER screen! Backup/Transfer Options?

My wife noticed a size-able crack underneath the screen of her Pixel 7 this morning and the screen is not working (though occasionally there are blips of colostatic at the bottom). She had a case and screen protector on it and did not drop it. I was able to turn Talk Back on and it is saying the screen is off, but she has been unable to get Google Assistant to turn the screen on. Im assuming it's trashed?
Frustrated and mystified as to how it happened, but she needs a working phone asap, so I've already filed a claim for a replacement. Curious about the options for backup/transfer of data....
I'm assuming most of the data that was already backed up to Google One will be transfer when signing in to her new phone, but is there anyway to transfebackup data that might not have been uploaded? Also, how can I wipe the data on the broken phone before sending it back if I am not able to use the screen?

Has anyone else had issues with their screen on their Pixel? I just got my Pixel 7 in March and in May it fell out of my pocket (about a 5 inch drop) and cracked my screen. I had a screen protector and case on the phone. I was told my the repair shop that they refer to the Pixel LED screen as the "potato chip." Samsung and Apple screens are much more durable, he said. I have owned a Samsung since the Galaxy Express and decided to try the Pixel because of the "only Pixel" android features. Don't think I'll buy another until they fix this issue.

I am a new google pixel user, recently bought pixel 7 and I want to go to the page that shows me all apps, but when i swipe up from home screen it opens google search bar that is located at the top of the apps display, it needs another swipe up to collapse search bar and scroll through the apps . Is there any fix to this, I tried control setting and don't seem to find relevant setting.

Im coming from a Samsung s7. So far I'm thinking about a refurbished google pixel 6a because I've heard the battery performs better than the other pixel 6 variants but not too sure on the phone and whether to get a refurbished one.
So ideally I want one with a big battery that wont degrade too quick. I'm gonna have the screen open quite a bit through the day, using up to 3 apps at a time like YT, spotify and play some games on it.
I'm not super fussed about the camera but I plan to use google lens quite a lot and take up close pictures of wildlife, so something which is competent for those.
Audio quality im not too bothered about because I'll be using earpods most of the time.
A 0-100% charge time that is better than my current 2hr charge time would be good too.
I'm UK based

When setting up voice match (Hey Google) in latest Android (Pixel 6a), it supposed to show the progress on the circle as you say each word, right? For me it's just stuck, only the dots in the center raise. Tried saying it in different ways for 10 minutes. Google Assistant on the home screen recognizes this phrase fine.

Hello
I have my pixel 6 since July 2022
The bottom of the screen has become insensitive, so I can't use the gestures, but I can still use the navigation buttons.
I removed the screen protector but it doesn't change much
And a vertical orange bar has appeared on my screen
I didn't drop it, but I rode my scooter in the rain yesterday and it was on the scooter support. But the phone is designed to be submerged, so I don't see how rain could do that to it.
Do you think my pixel 6 is dead ?

2023.06.10 02:39 kamaone Pixel 7a, FINAL REVIEW: HOT PHONE? nope, HOT GARBAGE

I'll start by saying that I was really excited to get this phone based on the specs, I loved my Pixel 4 , and it lasted me years and made many memories. I had waited a long time to upgrade, all i wanted was an A series phone with similar specs and a slightly better camera array than the 4. Needless to say, i was disappointed again and again by the lack of any major innovation in the A series phones. I was really disappointed that the 6A wasn't it, and I was still overwhelmed by the price tags on the 6 and 7 series, it would almost make sense to buy the 6 pro model and just bite the bullet. I even considered getting a refurbished 6 pro when the 7 series came out because my best friend loves his 6.
So today(may 25th) was the day i discovered my dreams really had come true, the 7a was out, it was being praised by tech reviewers, and now it was on sale from mint mobile, with an attractive package of a years service and a brand new phone for a little over 5 bills. I was beyond ecstatic! Take my effing money! And i could used PayPal credit, i was approved, sweet! 6 months, no money down, no interest. Good deal. Or so i thought. I received the phone on may 30th, I sorta expected it to come sooner, but all was good in the world. I had the case, screen protector, and all the means to port my number and pop in my SIM; to escape the shackles of AT&T once and for all! I set everything up and transfered the data on the phone via usb cable from my old man of a phone(boy was he getting tired and obsolesced), to my new baby. Then it happened, I realized the assistant was not hearing me past "hey Google", and sometimes not at all. I spent the rest of that day and everyone calling mint and Google, being told different things and that I could simply return the phone and have no device. Hell no, I'm no expert, but this felt like a software issue. I reset everything and anything(why it took so long to troubleshoot I'll never know) i also convinced mint to send me an RMA under the condition they'd send a replacement. The RMA never came, not read there any record of it being offered. I figured they'd send a replacement and then let me return the phone, unlike Google, but alas. I was wrong. Well, i somehow figured out how to enable the mic. I didn't really have any other noticeable problems, yet...
I called back the second day and asked them about the replacement order, there was still none, and there was no record of my calling. I asked them about adding the protection plan that was offered and i had forgotten to check off, likely because i never had any major issues with my 4 in the 2 years of ADH protection i had, it didn't seem important, i was more worried about interest free financing at the time so i overlooked the option in a need dash to get the phone I had dreamt of. Well, after being disconnected several times when they tried to be 3 way all state, I decided to turn off Wi-Fi calling, figured we just had a week signal and something with customer service wasn't liking it, because this had happened the following day as well when they tried to connect me to Google . after hours of trying to convince different reps that they should be able to do this i was told everything was provided 3rd party. So i gave up and gave in, and I bought a protection plan direct from square trade for about 100 a year instead of 79.99, even though it was the same protection. Another problem solved, no thanks to Google or mint, neither of which could apply the protection plans they offered to my brand new phone.
A week went by, the mic was fine, the phone has ADH, but now i realize it's hot af when charging, it can't handle gaming with grapicsh settings on high, and the 90hz smooth display mode on ,without screen tearing and stuttering. And then all hell broke loose. The speakers started to click and pop on calls, on both normal calls and speaker phone, and when messaging with mint tech support there was a clicking crunching sound.
Needless to say, i was livid and regretful, as I'd already sold my pixel 4 to someone in Taiwan, cheap, in order to get some money back to start paying off my be phone. I'd also put a canera protector on,i think it was the day before, as i was really worried about that area being a big piece of who knows what level gorilla glass, if even gorilla glass. I started to realize that I'd indeed been sold a lemon. On top of that, the phone was getting hotter and hotter during what i consider regular use. Things started to malfunction, the mint mobile app started to glitch, along with other apps. I'd already had the bottom of the screen go temporality unresponsive on web pages, i want able to click things, even on desktop mode , and I'd had the touch screen go totally bonkers and had to power cycle it again and again for a variety of issues. I called and messaged mint, i called Google, they each said it was the others problem, i spent last night at 7 until this morning at 5 am trying to get someone to stand accountable. They both eventually agreed that they would do the rma and I'd have to send in the phone, however, nobody ever sent me a confirmation or a label, or anything. Mints site crashed totally and the supervisor I finally got in the chat said I'd have to set up the rma on the site in the morning, although they told me multiple times that i was getting a replacement and could send the phone back after the fact.
It's been 24 hours since i started to deal with this and i still have no RMA or confirmation from either, just a copy of the transcript where mint acknowledged that I'd requested a return online, although for some reason they just wanted to send a new SIM... Oh and the service cut out after i turned it off when the screen started flickering and became unresponsive at almost 5am this morning,i had to turn airplane mode on and off just to get service to turn on at all.
I had also contacted PayPal credit late at night and explained that I'd probably have to buy a new phone and that i was not being given a fair, or timely solution, that would keep me connected. To my surprise, they closed the case in less than 8 hours , even more surprisingly, in my favor. So I'm done with pixel 7a, I will tell mint to take their phone back when and if they send the RMA label(after I've activated another phone) and i will use the extra sim they sent to transfer my number to the one plus 10 pro that cost me not much more than the pixel, and has better specs, minus 14 megapixels on the main camera. And I'll just tell mint to keep the money for the service and communicate to PayPal that they should allow mint to keep the 90 bucks . So yeah, don't get a 7a, the specs are misleading, the phone is a literally a hot piece of trash 🔥 🚮.

This is the first time I've had a device nice enough to pass along, my mom's cheap Android is crapping out on her so I'm planning on purchasing a new Pixel 7a from Best Buy as an unlocked phone and activate with my current SIM card in my Pixel 4a 5g.
I heard about SIM swap things with T-Mobile but I should just be able to plug in the new one and activate everything without going in store correct? Then I was planning on factory resetting the phone and mailing her my 4a to activate with her sim card. We're both on t mobile pre paid plans. I just want to make sure I'm going about this correctly.

2023.06.10 01:47 g_pags Locked out from Google Fi and all things Google due to no fault of my own

One week ago, my Google Pixel 5a's screen went black and it became unresponsive out of nowhere. I took it to the local UBreakIFix store: a motherboard failure was diagnosed, but I was refused service because no parts were available, given this is a well-known issue with the phone model.
Google support agreed to send a replacement Pixel 6a, which was mailed to my home address. Ever since I have been unable to log onto my Google account in order to activate the phone line. I have the password and can check my 2FA code for verification, which is sent to the same Gmail account associated with the Google account that I am locked out from. (I check that email via a pre-configured email app for desktop, Thunderbird). Somehow Google refuses to recognize my identity.
I have sent screenshots to the support team, showing proof that I am doing everything correctly. The replies are always from a different person and the advice is incorrect and contradictory.

Hi, I've been using a Google Pixel 3a for three years now. I've been contemplating upgrading since security updates stopped for it last year, and after cracking the screen after a bad drop I figured I may as well invest in a new phone instead of repairing the old one. I've been peeking around at options and was considering just upgrading into a Pixel 6a, but I've seen mixed opinions on its fingerprint scanner. Kind of bummed they ditched the sensor on the back of the phone, especially because I've been resisting getting a phone that deals exclusively with touchscreen recognition. I don't know of other phones that don't have only touchscreen recognition these days and are decent, but if there just aren't any I can deal.
I use my phone mostly for normal daily browsing, watching, and the occasional game, but nothing too strenuous. I appreciate any recommendations!
