Re-posting now, with....less words this time I guess. Not going to list everything I packed again. 🫠
This was my first true one-bagging excursion as a historical over-packer, and I'm really proud of myself! I've been really inspired by everyone's posts here for the last few months that I've been lurking. It was really fun to finally put all the tips I've gleaned into action.
The trip was just an extended weekend to visit my friend in Los Angeles. We were planning a variety of activities...from sailing, to casual beach walks, to dining at nice restaurants. This made for a slightly challenging pack into the single "personal item" allotted for my flight. I spent 2 evenings prior to my trip trying on different combinations of clothing to sort out which pieces to bring for optimal interchangeability. 😅
I used my old standby Timbuk2 laptop commuter bag that I've had for over a decade. It fit the airline's size requirements and worked out nicely! It was great to be able to use something I already had for my main bag. Also brought 2 small bags--this Wilderdog utility pack for my in-flight essentials and this Envelope Convertible Cross-body bag from Portland Leather. I was ready to stuff the hip pack into my backpack if needed, but didn't get any flack for it when I boarded.
Some of you might remember this post I made about trying to find my unicorn hip-pack/cross-body bag. I ended up finding this Wilderdog pack after making that post, and am pretty happy with it! Was also glad to have the nicer purse with me, which helped to dress up some of my more casual clothing. It's super slim, so it easily slipped into the laptop sleeve of my backpack when it was empty. Kudos to the commenter who recommended it on someone else's post in this sub! (I tried to find the original thread I stumbled upon, but couldn't, for the life of me!)
The outfits in the photos were my 2 main "base" outfits. I had a couple of other sleeveless/short-sleeved shirts to trade out with the pants, and then depending on the activity/temperature, would switch between the cardigan & yellow fleece pullover and/or add the dark green jacket, and switched between the Taos sneakers & Birkenstocks. I also had a nice dark blue scarf (forgot to stage it in the pic) that I could use for warmth & dressing up my outfits as needed. The leggings doubled as pajamas along w/whatever shirt I'd worn that day. I didn't end up wearing every pair of socks I brought, but it wasn't a big deal to have an extra pair or two. All in all, I think the clothes I brought worked out!
I did end up buying another pair of shoes at a surf shop on Day 3 while we were out beach-hopping, because I'd started getting blisters from my Birks (and had left my sneakers back at my friend's place to dry out after they got wet sailing the day before). Not the cheapest purchase on-the-fly, but I'm glad I was able to find a pair of shoes that were actually comfortable (as opposed to cheap flip-flops), and ones that I'll get a decent amount of wear out of (unlike cheap flip-flops). These are the shoes I bought: Sanuk Pair O Dice Slip-ons in washed black
Sooooo glad I went with these Dovetail pants instead of my "comfy" jeans. Jeans would NOT have been up to the maneuvering I needed to do on the tiny boat we sailed on! 😅 Lots of squatting and kneeling and such. The one drawback to these pants, though, was that they took a very long time to dry after getting the cuffs wet. I will say though that they made for great travel pants! So many pockets, and a very comfy elastic/drawstring waist. But as much as they felt like sweatpants, they looked nice enough to go straight from the airport to lunch at a renowned pizzeria! 😁
The one thing I absolutely did NOT need to pack was the book I brought lol. Since it was a social-focused trip, the only opportunities I had to read were on the flight or while waiting at the airport. But the flights were short (just over 2 hours in each direction), and I'm much more inclined to listen to music and look out the window when I fly than read or watch something. So I think I'll leave my books at home for future trips, unless I know I'll be having substantial solo leisure time at my destination.
Packing for this trip helped me realize that 1) I can do it! I can actually do it 🥲 2) I need to purge my closet of clothes that no longer fit me (probably the most challenging part of this whole experience) 3) As much as I rely on "how I'm feeling in the moment" to dress at home, it will be FINE while traveling to wear a predetermined outfit that I don't feel 100% cute in. The whole point of traveling is the experiences I'm having, not how cute I think I look while having them.

We have lived in our apartment for 3 years and our lease is up in 2 months. The management used to be great but they recently sold and it is turning into a slum yard. The unit above us was just leased to a new tenant. We have townhome style units with attached garages and this new neighbor sprayed insulation all over their garage to seal the door shut. It is leaking out the bottom of the door and they have about 7-10 people living in there. They regularly park in front of our garage and block us in which is a huge problem as we have a 4 month old. The other night we went to ask them to move the car and they were refusing to come to the door and once they finally did they were wearing masks and gloves (I am convinced they’re doing something super illegal like human trafficking or drugs). It then took them another 10 minutes to figure out who the car belonged to. None of them speak English and they use a small child to translate to us. We are dying to get out of here as we already have somewhere to go. This place is so unsafe for our son. I included a portion of our lease below. The new management is absolutely impossible to get ahold of and we’re getting desperate.

1. Reletting and Early Lease Termination. This Lease may not be ter- minated early except as provided in this Lease. 7.1. Reletting Charge. You’ll be liable for a reletting charge as listed in Lease Details, (not to exceed 85% of the highest monthly Rent during the Lease term) if you: (A) fail to move in, or fail to give written move-out notice as required in Par. 25; (B) move out without paying Rent in full for the entire Lease term or renewal period; (C) move out at our demand because of your default; or (D) are judicially evicted. The reletting charge is not a termination, cancellation or buyout fee and does not release you from your obligations under this Lease, including liability for future or past-due Rent, charges for damages or other sums due. The reletting charge is a liquidated amount covering only part of our damages—for our time, effort, and expense in finding and processing a replacement resident. These damages are uncertain and hard to ascertain—particularly those relating to inconvenience, paperwork, advertising, showing apartments, utilities for showing, checking pros- pects, overhead, marketing costs, and locator-service fees. You agree that the reletting charge is a reasonable estimate of our damages and that the charge is due whether or not our reletting attempts succeed. 7.2. Early Lease Termination Procedures. In addition to your termination rights referred to in 7.3 or 8.1 below, if this provision applies under Lease Details, you may terminate the Lease prior to the end of the Lease term if all of the following occur: (a) as outlined in Lease Details, you give us written notice of early termination, pay the early termination fee and specify the date by which you’ll move out; (b) you are not in default at any time and do not hold over; and (c) you repay all rent concessions, credits or discounts you received during the Lease term. If you are in default, the Lease remedies apply. 7.3. Special Termination Rights. You may have the right under Texas law to terminate the Lease early in certain situations involving military deployment or transfer, family violence, certain sexual offenses, stalking or death of a sole resident.
2. Delay of Occupancy. We are not responsible for any delay of your occupancy caused by construction, repairs, cleaning, or a previous resident’s holding over. This Lease will remain in force subject to (1) abatement of Rent on a daily basis during delay, and (2) your right to terminate the Lease in writing as set forth below. Rent abatement and Lease termination do not apply if the delay is for cleaning or re- pairs that don’t prevent you from moving into the apartment. 8.1. Termination. If we give written notice to you of a delay in occupancy when or after the Lease begins, you may termi- nate the Lease within 3 days after you receive written notice. If we give you written notice before the date the Lease begins and the notice states that a construction or other delay is expected and that the apartment will be ready for you to occupy on a specific date, you may terminate the Lease within 7 days after receiving written notice. After proper termination, you are entitled only to refund of any deposit(s) and any Rent you paid.

After smoking every day all day for the past 3-4 years I’ve finally decided to take a month sober.
My best friend was recently hospitalized with what’s she thought was a sever panic attack. She was there for a full week without my knowledge. When she came home and I knew she was different. I couldn’t even look her in the eyes- because my bestie was no longer there. She has continued to have disordered thinking, paranoid thoughts, and delusions based around people being out to get her. She kept calling + texting me with wild accusations, calling me nasty names and couldn’t listen to any logic or reason. I had to block her. This has been super distressing to me but has also been such a wake up call.
Our mental well being is everything. Without it we can’t be normal functioning members of society- with healthy fulfilling relationships. Having started to process our relationship I’ve realized that she wasn’t the person I thought she was. I’ve been putting so much time and energy into a relationship that was build off smoking weed together. If I’m being honest with myself we didn’t really have that much in common either. I just used it as a distraction from working on being okay with being alone with myself.
So on June 1st I started to keep a tally for every time I thought about weed or smoking weed. I had 20 tallies by the time it hit noon. This really opened my eyes up to the fact I do have a problem. I need to stop smoking and deal with my emotions head on instead of running from them. Otherwise in 4 years I’ll end up in the same place my best friend is. 3 years ago she was top sales women at the company we worked for. Now she’s been unemployed for 2 years. Wants to purchase a house and get married and so on and so on but… forgot to put in the work for the past 2 years to get to the place she wants to be. Instead she sat at home and smoked weed until life got too tough and she had a psychotic break.
The first 3 days were tough. I cried and cried and cried. I’ve been using weed to numb my emotions so without weed I’m so emotionally raw. Went out to eat with my bf to a place me and her used to go to a lot. Ended up crying at the table - so embarrassing.
I feel 100x less anxious sober then I did smoking. I don’t have nearly as many negative thoughts. It’s easier to sleep. It’s easier to feed myself. It’s easier to enjoy life. It’s easier to be vulnerable to friends and to give advice. This is exactly the wake up call I needed. Sorry for the long post. I’m just proud of myself. Getting mentally stronger each day!!

I have enjoyed raiding rich Europeans as a tribal norseman or Canarian island dweller, then just skedaddling away merrily with their 200 years worth of gold as I laugh at their impotence to do anything to me due to game mechanics. But that joy is along the lines of... discovering a shiny new bug in a game that gives you invincibility, or an infinite money bug. Considering how popular norseman raiding used to be in this sub a year or so ago, I don't think this is a popular opinion. But it is best demonstrated when you are on the receiving end of this illogical barrier.
Getting your exclave gold mines or unique buildings raided by savages in exactly 2 days is not fun, when all I can do to punish the decades long malus they applied to that county is kill their raiding army. How exactly is them plundering my castles not an adequate casus belli for me to go full Balkan mode on their asses and eradicate their entire miSERABLE NATION OFF THE FACE OF THE FUCKING MAP JESUS WHY CAN't I do anything to punish it. And the tooltips even make it seem like there ought to be something you can do, or that there is room to place something that you can do. While "raiding hostilities" are active, I as the raided person should have access to besiege their counties for prisoners or maybe riches. But mainly prisoners with perhaps an increased chance of getting prisoners for flavor - I'm hunting down responsible people.
If the devs wanted to get even more creative then torching these miserable dregs on pyres or quartering them in their capital square ought to give negative weight for all nearby AI empires when they consider raiding me again. Of course the quartering et cetera is just me being silly, but I meant more along the lines of holding public executions while raiding hostilities last and I am occupying some of their land.
Anyway that was my short rant about what I have felt was bullshit for like 3-4 years or however long this game's been out.

It is a backpack that I saw for sale about 4 months ago. I am kicking myself for not buyingit then. I believe it was on sale in etsy or amazon. I work for a 911 Dispatch center for my local county. I'm a full time employee with benefits.
Due to the worker shortage I've been asked A LOT to pick up extra hours. Now I wouldn't mind picking up extra hours if there was an incentive or proper compensation for doing it but there's not.
At my work for every "overtime" hour you get paid in vacation hours (on top of base pay). Which would be great if you could use your vacation hours but you can't. I've already been denied a vacation request due to "having nobody to cover my shifts" and on top of this our vacation hours get capped so if you don't use them you stop accumulating them. So i'm basically getting 0 compensation for overworking. I've been told we get an "overtime check" in september for up to 80 hours of overtime work but I've yet to work that long to know if this is true or not.
This is my first full time "adult" job so I wasn't aware this could be a legal issue until I brought it up with my brother. I work for my local county so I'm having a hard time believing that it is illegal but I guess it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility which is why i'm asking for an expert/experienced advice. If this is a legal issue is there something I can do about this? What are the proper steps of how to handle this?

Hello, I recently built my first pc.... I slapped a ASRock Phantom Gaming D OC Radeon RX 6800 XT 16 GB Video Card (might be for sale soon) and the damn thing has 3 power connectors on it. I will likely not overclock anything so it was suggested to only plug two 8 pin cables in and leave the pigtail out of it. If so, which two?? It seems like a simple question but I can't get a straight answer out of anyone. Please help me and know that I am absolutely faking knowing what I'm talking about.
