2023.06.09 17:25 Babycloud20 Effective Communication in Co-Parenting: Tips for Maintaining Harmony
Keep the focus on the child: Remember that co-parenting is about the well-being and best interests of your child. When communicating with your co-parent, keep the conversation centered on your child's needs, schedules, and important decisions.
Choose the right communication method: Select a communication method that works best for both of you. It could be face-to-face conversations, phone calls, emails, text messages, or even dedicated co-parenting apps. Find a method that allows for clear and respectful communication, considering the preferences and schedules of both parents.
Be clear and concise: When discussing co-parenting matters, strive to be clear, concise, and to the point. Avoid unnecessary details or tangents that can derail the conversation. Stick to the topic at hand and communicate your thoughts and expectations in a straightforward manner.
Practice active listening: Truly listen to your co-parent's perspective without interrupting or formulating counterarguments in your mind. Show empathy and validate their feelings. Reflect back on what they say to ensure that you understand their viewpoint accurately. This demonstrates respect and can lead to more productive conversations.
Use "I" statements: Use "I" statements to express your thoughts and feelings instead of resorting to blame or accusations. For example, say, "I feel concerned when our child's bedtime is inconsistent" instead of "You always mess up the bedtime routine." This approach promotes constructive dialogue and reduces defensiveness.
Maintain a business-like tone: Keep your communication focused, professional, and respectful. Avoid using your conversations as an outlet for personal frustrations or disagreements. Treat co-parenting discussions as a business arrangement, keeping emotions in check to maintain a positive co-parenting relationship.
Keep written records: For important discussions or decisions, consider documenting them in writing, such as through emails or shared notes. This helps create a record of agreements and can serve as a reference point in case of any misunderstandings or conflicts in the future.
Establish boundaries: Clearly define boundaries and expectations for communication. Determine the best times and methods for discussing co-parenting matters, and respect each other's privacy and personal space. Setting these boundaries can help maintain a sense of balance and avoid unnecessary conflicts.
Seek professional help if needed: If communication challenges persist or escalate, consider seeking the assistance of a mediator or family therapist. A neutral third party can provide guidance, facilitate discussions, and help both parents find common ground.
Focus on personal growth: Remember that effective communication in co-parenting requires ongoing effort and personal growth. Reflect on your own communication style and be open to learning and improving your skills. This will not only benefit your co-parenting relationship but also other areas of your life.
Remember, effective communication in co-parenting takes practice and patience. By maintaining a child-centered approach, staying respectful, and actively working on your communication skills, you can strive for harmony and create a positive co-parenting environment for your child.BabyCloud APP

2023.06.09 17:23 dragonborne123 I’m sick of my mom disgusting her disappointment as worry.
I know she’s disappointed in me. I know she’s disappointed at how my mental illness and physical problems drag me down so quickly. I know she’s disappointed that I’m always exhausted after work even though I had to spend hours pretending to not be overstimulated and in pain. She will always say “oh my op, I’m worried because you’ll never survive on your own.” What the fuck? Why is that always her response? Why does she feel the need to add another brick on the pile of that is sitting on my shoulders? She doesn’t understand why I hardly ever tell her things about myself anymore, but why would I when nothing I do is ever good enough? Why would I set myself up for ridicule when a loving mother should be offering comfort to their struggling child? She is no emotional help, not even in my childhood. I was always and will always be left to deal with it alone.

2023.06.09 17:12 ducttapeallday My Majestic Mirage experience
This is just my story so take from it what you will. My wife and 2 kids went to DR with another family of 4. All inclusive swim up room , booked in the family suites (as opposed to the “adult” buildings). Upon arrival we were booked in and given keys. Went to the room… which ended up being in the adult building. Not sure still what distinguishes one from the other but i didnt care. It was late thanks to flight delay and i just wanted to chill. Upon entering the room the odor of piss punched me in the face. It literally smelled like a parking garage stairwell. But as i said it was late and i had a few drinks and figured we settle it the next day. At Mirage they assign you a butler, who really did do his best. So the following day i mentioned this to him and he said hed take care of it. I went to the pool for the afternoon and got a text saying housecleaning did aroma therapy and extra cleaning. When i went back to the room I expected to notice a difference but now it was a combo of pee and a god awful air freshener. I told our butler we needed a new room. I was not obnoxious about it. They granted my wish…. To the room right next door. Guess what? Smelled in there too. I asked again to move but this time they were insistent that it can be taken care of. I said unacceptable and requested a move to the family section where we were booked. This apparently was an issue. They told me it gets this way and theyd bring me a dehumidifier… which they did , which did nothing. I could not fathom how these folks thought this was nothing. It was pungent. Eventually we moved again… but i had to accept a non swim up suite…. But it was nice , smelled good and the pools were still only seconds away.
Moving on ….. even though its all inclusive this obviously doesn’t mean you aren’t going to spend money , mainly on tips and trinkets…. Its part of doing business. However i feel like the pressure to tip here is unprofessional for a resort of this supposed stature. I tip well for a job well done… but it seemed like i was always being solicited for something. I wore a Red Sox hat … so often a convo would begin with someone who works there about Big Papi…. That quickly turns into a sales pitch for photos…. Jewelry… excursions… etc. Im good at saying im all set but some of these dudes are relentless to the point its not comfortable.
The actual pools were awesome met some nice folks. But par for the course mixed drinks taste like they use artificial sweeteners and are weak. The beer selection is comical…. Coors Light, Heineken and Presidente …. Thats it. My suggestion is stick to rum and coke… you know exactly whats going into the glass. There are a couple of nice bars that if you tip well they proof up you cocktails…. But at a resort like this should i have to?
The food was okay. We were a big group and the buffets were popular with us. Lots of the food was fine but things like cold cuts, cheeses, shrimp and sushi arent made for outdoor buffets in 98 degree weather. The restaurants also were underwhelming. Dined at the steak house twice and the teppanyaki place once. These meals were not high caliber. The steak house was non reservation so they try and get you in and out ASAP… which guess is par for the course. The portions were small and they didnt cook the steak as ordered. The Japanese place was also fast paced , despite a reservation . Food was delicious (my kids ate the scrimp fried rice with eggs and they hate seafood and eggs) but once again the portions were a joke. Room service is what it is. Takes minimum an hour and its just mediocre at best. The night we arrives i order the “Chicken Breast Dinner with potatoes and vegetables” i got 2 grilled oversalted chicken tenders with a side of still chilled potatoes. No veggie at all. Snacks and soft drinks as well as the limited beer selection was replenished daily.
Not be entirely down on the place…. Its a nice place. The entertainers and help staff are great. They seem enthusiastic and are good at getting folks up and moving. Obviously the beach is gorgeous and the water beautiful. We went and swam with sharks and stingrays …. Went bottom walking with the space helmets and had a nice party at a sand bar. Once again drinks weak and cheese sandwiches were the lunch we were served. I also went golfing- free green fee but carts and rentals cost some cash. The course was all ours , which was awesome… i saw some cool wildlife and the course is in good shape given the heat. At the turn we got a saran wrapped chicken salad sandwich with almost no chicken in it.
The pool is where spent most of our time and all around the pool are walk out suites. For the first 4 days we were there, a woman allowed her what seemed like a 6 year old kid frolic around buck naked on their outside cabana bed. This suite was literally 30 feet from the swim up bar. Bizarre.. no one ever told her to cover him up- she didnt care. I just set up shop away from them but it stuck how strange the scene was.
The casino is nothing to write home about. We play some roulette. A girl with our group turned 20 bucks into 200 and you think we were in Vegas the way they kept eyeballing her and changing the person spinning the ball. The “pit boss” stayed put right up until she cashed out.
And just to put a cherry on top…. The day we were leaving….. i needed more cash to tip the butler. I had tipped 20-30 a day everyday but ran out of USD The 1 atm at Mirage was out of service …. I walked to the next resort…. Elegance and their atm was down. I walked back and told Jeffry our butlet id borrow some cash from our friends and take care of him. He offered to take me to their 3rd property…so we went and the atm there promptly ate my card.
I had fun …. I can have a good time under any circumstances and my kids had a ball and thats what i pay the money for …. But i expected much more from this place. I was disappointed. I wont return again.

2023.06.09 17:08 violetttxox Associate Discount
So… officially… what are the rules to it? I know 35% off wawa items, 50% off fit to fly, our employee price items, free shortie per shift, yada yada- and can be used 15 minutes prior, during or after a shift ends..
…but what’s the actual technicality to it… Would one get fired for purchasing a employee priced mac and cheese in the 15 minute prior to a shift…but proceeding to give it to someone(like their parent/child/sibling) before clocking in.
Is there a difference between that 15 min prior vs being the one physically taking the food home end of shift?
Does it really just depend on who the MOD is?
I just want to know what’s actually OK per wawa standards and not just one MOD is cool with it while one isn’t.
I was told that the “max” discount per associate is supposed to be 3… but my store manager doesn’t really care as long as you aren’t flat out abusing it- however a lower rank manager does enforce it when they work.
I just want the official knowledge to cover myself… I don’t wanna get fired over sending home chicken strips for my kiddo, or thanking a sibling for a ride with a mac, ya know?
Thanks in advance!

2023.06.09 17:03 Additional-Fly-705 Melton’s Misadventure / Backstory of my colony leader
My previous colony leader, Sassafras, was a lazy introvert and hated doing her job. She was tired of wardening, recruiting and proselytising; jobs that a colony leader should do. She’d rather tend to the farm instead. One day, she was bartering with a morph trader (from Pawnmorpher) and came across Melton. Melton had a natural passion in the social skill and was level 8 in it. Compared to Sassafras’ measly level 5 social, Melton was a smooth-talker. However, Melton was a sapient dodo bird. Sassafras then shrugged and muttered “Good enough” before purchasing Melton for just 49 silver and immediately installing him as the leader of the colony.
Melton was overjoyed. Not only he was emancipated, he became leader of a colony. Even though he was barely a foot tall, everybody trusted the new leader in the matters of the colony. Some are even relieved that Sassafras the slacker resigned as leader. Melton quickly made friends with another colonist, Timur, who was a celebrity chef turned sheep. Timur found comfort in the fact that he wasn’t the only person afflicted by morphing mechanites. He had owned a famous restaurant in a Glitterworld and was very strict with his employees. After humiliating his employees over lamb sauce, one of them spiked his coffee with mechanites. Timur wasn’t the same ever since.
Melton offered his condolences to his friend. Yet, he has a confession to make: his transformation was of his own accord. He was kidnapped as a child, then sold to a lab. The lab implanted a Highmate xenogerm onto Melton and forced him into a growth vat. His body was then pumped full of synthetic growth hormones. At the biological age of 16, he was released from the growth vat to be sold into sex slavery. But then Melton decided to run from the thugs cuffing him and found himself a syringe. He decided that whatever is in that syringe is preferable to being a concubine. He thrusted the needle onto his blue arm and transformed into a dodo. The thugs soon found him and sold him to an exotic pet shop. Apparently, dodo birds are worth more than Highmates. Not long after, an aristocrat purchased Melton solely because he could talk. Melton spent the rest of his days lounging in his master’s mansion, feasting on fresh fruits and entertaining his master’s guests. His life was idyllic and peaceful, until his master was assassinated right before him.
The police found him at cowering at the crime scene. Upon discovering his sapience, he was set to testify in court regarding the murder of his owner. Unfortunately, he was kidnapped and sent to a morph colony in a Rimworld, never to be seen again.

2023.06.09 17:00 Hal_Keaton [All] The Developers Have (Almost) Always Placed the Games on a Timeline
I originally posted this over on
truezelda, but I figured I would share it on this subreddit as well.
I've been seeing a lot of chatter about how the developers never cared about the timeline, or that the "current" timeline is something they forced together to appease fans back in 2011.
I have my own opinions regarding the matter of what fans consider the official timeline, but the idea that the developers never tried to connect the games until more recent Zelda history is not correct.
Some time ago, I wrote a very long paper regarding this topic. I have no desire to repost it here, so instead I am going to do a quick and dirty summary of proof that almost every game until the BotW and Totk era had developer comments (or in-game references) that connected the games in some form of a timeline.
This is also not a "here is the timeline" post. I will not be making a timeline here, but rather just showing how the games connected via developer or in-game comments.
Furthermore, these developer comments in particular only tell us what the developers intended
at the time, and it may no longer reflect the current timeline situation now.
ONE MORE NOTE: I had to remove some links to prevent this post from being autofiltered by Reddit, so I'm sorry if some links are missing.
LoZ - AoL
AoL is a direct sequel to LoZ, I don't think I need to elaborate further.
LttP - LoZ
From
the back of the Japanese LttP Box (translated): "This time, the stage is set a long time before Link's adventures, in an era when Hyrule was still one country."
From the
LttP player's guide: “Although The Legend of Zelda appeared first in the series of Zelda adventures, it actually takes place many years after the third game. In this time, Hyrule had declined, becoming a rustic land with few remaining signs of its former glory.”
An interview from Miyamoto
published on Dec 20, 1991. From the
translated page, here are the contents: Gods made Hyrule, Triforce was found and Ganon was born, Rise of Agahnim, Ganon revival (LoZ), Link is now 17 years old (AoL).
LttP - LA
From the Japanese LA Manual (translated): "You, who regained the peace of Hyrule from the demonic hands of the King of Evil, Ganon, had not enjoyed the achieved tranquility for too long, and had embarked on a journey of training in preparation for a new calamity."
From the
LA DX website (translated): "Link, who restored peace to Hyrule after defeating the evil king Ganon and taking it back from his evil hands, didn't spend much resting, as he left for a journey of training to get ready for the next calamity. From The Legend of Zelda: Triforce of the Gods (SUPER FAMICOM Screen QT Move1 [631K])”
Movie link shows LttP Link defeating Ganon.
OoT - LttP
From an interview with Satoru Takizawa (character and enemy designer for OoT), published on Nov 11, 1998 (translated): "This time, the story really wasn't an original. We were dealing with the "The Imprisoning War of the Seven Sages" from the SNES edition Zelda. To give that game a little "secret" recognition, I thought that keeping the "pigness" in Ganon would be the correct course. So we made him a beast "with the feeling of a pig.""
From an interview with Toru Osawa (script director for OoT), published Dec 8, 1998 (translated): "In the SNES edition game, the story "Long ago, there was a war called the Imprisoning War" was passed along. A name in the Imprisoning War era is the name of a Town later. They were like "pseudo-secrets." We wanted to throw these out through the entirety of the game. That thing from then is now this. Though in this game Zelda is now included in the Seven Sages, the other six have the names of the town names from the Disk System edition "The Adventure of Link.""
There is more to this particular section, but for the sake of this post's length I will not be discussing this section further.
OoT - MM
MM is a direct sequel to OoT, I do not think I need to elaborate further.
LttP - OoS/OoA
From an article produced in
Feb 2000 64Dream issue on OoS/OoA (pg. 106) (translated):
- The story has been changed from the version published in "Space World 99", and it is a story that continues after the SFC version "Triforce of the Gods". Learn more about the new and changed story below.
- Link has brought peace to the land of Hyrule many times. This time from an owner of a mysterious voice. He was put to the test.
- Link defeated the priest Aghanim and the demon king Ganon. Peace returned to the land of Hyrule after regaining the Triforce of Power, Wisdom, and Courage.
FS - OoT
From an interview with
Aonuma published in 2004: "The GBA Four Swords Zelda is what we’re thinking as the oldest tale in the Zelda timeline. With this one on the GameCube [(FSA)] being a sequel to that, and taking place sometime after that."
From an interview with
Miyamoto from 2003: "I'm actually not all that deeply involved in this other project, but that is actually the case. We have decided that the setting for the game is that it is kind of the very beginning."
*Note, WW and FS came out within months of each other. If you read this interview, it appears Miyamoto got WW confused with FS, based on how the rest of the conversation plays out. The interview was asking about WW, Miyamoto seems to have answered about FS.
OoT - WW
From an interview with Aonuma
published Dec 6, 2002:
- "You can think of this game as taking place over a hundred years after Ocarina of Time. You can tell this from the opening story, and there are references to things from Ocarina located throughout the game as well."
- "Oh, right, let me elaborate on that. Ocarina of Time basically has two endings of sorts; one has Link as a child and the other has him as an adult. This game, The Wind Waker, takes place a hundred years after the adult Link defeats Ganon at the end of Ocarina."
FS - FSA
The introduction sequence of FSA talks about the tales of FS, making it its sequel.
MC - FS
MC tells the tale of how Vaati came to be, setting it before FS automatically.
OoT - TP
From an interview with
Aonuma, published in Feb 2007: "The Wind Waker is parallel. In Ocarina of Time, Link flew seven years in time, he beat Ganon and went back to being a kid, remember? Twilight Princess takes place in the world of Ocarina of Time, a hundred and something years after the peace returned to kid Link’s time. In the last scene of Ocarina of Time, kids Link and Zelda have a little talk, and as a consequence of that talk, their relationship with Ganon takes a whole new direction. In the middle of this game [Twilight Princess], there's a scene showing Ganon's execution. It was decided that Ganon be executed because he'd do something outrageous if they left him be. That scene takes place several years after Ocarina of Time. Ganon was sent to another world and now he wants to obtain the power…"
WW - PH - ST
PH and ST are both direct sequels to WW, starring the same cast and/or the stated descendants of that cast. There is no need to go further into this.
SS - MC
From an interview with Aonuma,
from Nov 14, 2011): "About that time, we began talking about how that would make this the first story in the series, and we wondered about involving the birth of Hyrule Kingdom. On the other hand, there was the setting of the floating island in the sky, and we thought, "How did that get there?""
LA - LBW
From an interview with Aonuma,
released Oct 17, 2013:
Spike: "Where does the game fall in the Zelda timeline? And I have Hyrule Historia for reference if you need it."
Mr. Aonuma: "Right about here. (Pointing to the Decline of Hyrule and the Last Hero branch, right between the Golden Era and Era of Decline, after Links Awakening and before The Legend of Zelda)."
LBW - TFH
From an interview with Hirosama Shikata (director of TFH),
published on Oct 25, 2015: "This a few years after A Link Between Worlds, and that influence may be because I was also the director on that game. Initially, the story starts with the king recruiting hero candidates, and that's where Link steps in. But there's a part of me that doesn't want people to come into the game thinking, "Is he not a hero then? Is he just a candidate?" I want to reassure people that this Link is the hero that came from the A Link Between Worlds world. It's a little unusual for a Zelda game, but it's the same hero."
Summary
There you go. Until BotW, if the game wasn't a clear sequel or prequel to another game, we had developer comments until 2015 that gave us a pretty clear idea how the game was intended to connect, even if it didn't really connect all that well. It also didn't necessarily give us a clear timeline either (like, FSA takes place after FS but where in the world does it take place in relation to the other games?)
Now whether or not they did a good job, or if they did cobble together a timeline for HH, is another matter. But for as long as the series had a second game, the games have had some sort of connection or intended connection or stated connection to another game. Even if it was an afterthought after development.

2023.06.09 16:57 StoicMegazord Friendly tip for those leaving: if you don't want to be contacted after ceasing church attendance, go into your LDS account and screw up/restrict your contact info.
I stopped going to church after I couldn't reconcile being a Mormon and gay, and never really looked back. However, for several months after I guess they decided I was now "inactive", they started sending members to try and bring me back, they even sent multiple sets of missionaries within a few months. Didn't realize I was such a select child of God!
Anyway, I decided I didn't want to be contacted anymore, so I entered my LDS online account, and jumbled my phone number and email address so they couldn't be used to reach me. The system doesnt allow you to change your address (only ward leaders can do that, ugh), so I just set my contact info to be only viewable by bishopric and stake leaders, not ward members, meaning missionaries and general ward council members could no longer see where I live!
After that, I've never received another ward member or missionary visit trying to "reactivate" me. So if you're just tired of church visits trying to "bring you back to the fold", I hope this advice helps you out a bit :)
Sidenote: this obviously may not work quite as well if you're well established in your ward, but over time as new members enter and take on callings (poor souls), they won't be able to reach you. It's not as hard of a fix as rescinding your membership (in the process of that myself now actually), but it can help in the meantime.

2023.06.09 16:53 cakeandpie12 Help with an old, chopped-up 2-story home? What to do with this Narwal Freo?!
I did some research and reading on this sub, and watched other videos.
We recently purchased a narwal freo for $1,000 during one of their sales. And now... I am at a loss of how to set it up to reach all the areas. And haven't found the company's support to be able to think creatively about this problem.
We live in a pre-1900 old 1,500sqft, 2-storry farmhouse.
First floor: kitchen where the dock is now, and then 3-inch step-up to living/dining room and 1st-fl bathroom.
Second floor: primary bedroom same 3-inch step-up to a rabbit warren of a hallway, a 2nd bathroom with a transition the robot probably won't like and 2 small bedrooms.
I read on here about making a ramp, which I'll do for the 1st and 2nd floor transitions. But what to do about the 2-stories? Do I carry the dock upstairs when I want to clean the 2nd floor? Right now we have the dock on the 1st floor bc the kitchen needs to be cleaned almost daily, rest of the house stays pretty clean. 2 adults live here, no pets, some child visitors. Unless we have people over for summer outdoor hangs, shoes off, etc.
I'm disabled and tire very easily, and just trying to figure out an easier way to keep things clean, and I'm realizing maybe the narwal isn't it? The house is so small and broken up with no storage (pre-1900 style) so I didn't want to buy separate vacuum and mopping robots, there is nowhere to store anything. No cleaning or broom closet, no mudroom, etc.
But do I keep the narwal on the first floor and get a 2nd expensive vacuum for the small 2nd floor - that seems crazy. I thought maybe I could just pick the robot up and bring it back to it's base when it needed to self-clean, refill, recharge etc, if it was on the 2nd floor, but now I don't know... that doesn't seem like it will work.
It all feels crazy! I would love some guidance from this expert community.

2023.06.09 16:52 Deep_Opposite_896 [In Progress] [29K] [Adult Fantasy] Title in Progress: But it is enemies to lovers/slow burn/witch and a witch hunter/dual POV
Hi :) I am not entirely sure if I am doing this correctly because I have never used reddit before. I have written a little under half of an adult fantasy novel, and I am looking for feedback. I will take any and all feedback, but I am mostly looking for unbiased parties to tell me if I have an potential at all with this story/as a writer. Honestly I am mainly looking for peers/friends. I am happy to read your work in return (though I am mostly only familiar with fiction/fantasy work)! If you are interested, comment below or chat me (IDK how that works but I shall figure it out hehe).
Content warnings: So far the story is not spicy but I do intend to take it there. I am 22 and the characters are around 20 so I am looking for older readers, not minors. I wouldn't be comfortable discussing that sort of things with younger readers though you are still ofc welcome to read it! There is very minor violence but nothing too grim. There is also some LGBTQ+ rep so bigots stay away!
Disclaimer the first chapter is only one of the main characters, but I do have to say, once they meet there is some wonderful witty banter so I swear it gets more intriguing.
First chapter:
Chapter 1: Bearnas The innate driving force of human nature is vengeance. This was a certitude I had come to realize from a young age, and it was a concept I relied on as I got older. Vengeance was the primary motivator for my people. It was our currency. The way we managed to survive. I didn’t stop to consider the morality of this outlook. I didn’t like to contemplate the state of my existence. Found that to be a waste of time. I focused on the here-and-now. The mutable present. It was simply the way the world was, so I had to deal with it like a man should. This was an ideal my father had instilled in me since the time of my birth. I was the son of a victorious warrior. Osgar Nieva was a well-respected war lieutenant during the Great Slaughtering. He never let me forget that I had a legacy to uphold. I knew my father hated me. I figured his disappointment began from the moment I received my name. In Dolag, tradition dictates that the father names their son. Names were believed to be prophetic. Osgar had a strong name-befitting of a warrior. His name meant “divine spear.” My grandfather claimed he could sense that Osgar would be a brave warrior from the moment he was born. So he was prophesied to be graced by the luck of God in battles. Typically, women were only allowed to name the baby if it was a girl. I was the exception. The process of my birth brought my Mother to her deathbed. The doctor was certain that she wouldn’t recover. As she lovingly admired the newborn baby boy in her arms, her attention was drawn by a bird pecking gently on the window. Tears streamed out of her eyes as it took off soundlessly into the winter dawn. “Wren.” She’d muttered softly, still gazing peacefully out the window. The room of family members and midwives stood in puzzled silence. The world seemed to pause in wait for her next words. She turned her head back to meet Osgar’s eyes. “He shall be named Wren. He will be gentle. Beautiful. Free.” She reached down to caress her baby’s face. “And he will be loved.” Despite my Father’s protests, the council voted to accept the name. The wishes of the dying outweighed naming traditions. Only my Mother never died. Doctors considered her survival a miracle. She returned back to full health only a few months later. She and I have paid for her decision every day since. Osgar refused to call me Wren. Anyone who referred to me as such, other than my Mother, was punished accordingly. To the rest of the world, I became known as Bearnas Nieva. Bearnas was the name Osgar would have chosen for his son if he had been given the opportunity. Bearnas. Meaning bringer of victory. My father did everything in his power to ensure that I would fulfill this destiny, whether it was the result of prophetic nomenclature or resolute determination. The story of my name was all I could think about as I prepared for my sendoff. I was tightening my last bootstring when a small hand clapped me on the back with a force intended to knock me off balance. “The famed Bear Nieva preparing for his grand expedition. What luck I must possess to witness you in all your glory.” I was grateful for El’s arrival, despite the copious amount of sarcasm she brought with her. My sister's presence was probably the only thing that could pull me out of my thoughts right now. “Using mockery as a mechanism to cover up your total despair about my departure, I assume.” I tried to keep my tone light, but in truth it was myself I was worried about. El held the chief role in keeping me sane throughout the later part of my life. She was my only tether to my true self. I worried about how I would stay grounded on my Hunt without her there to tease my worries away. El flopped on my bed with feigned anguish. “Yes, whatever will I do without my idiot older brother around to hog all the scrambled eggs at breakfast. Oh, how I will miss the putrid scent you plague the house with after training all day. Your constant nagging about my lack of tidiness will be missed most ardently.” I swatted her gently with my leather gloves. “Speaking of, get your disgusting outdoor shoes out of my clean bed immediately.” I shooed her out of my room, and chased her towards the door, nearly colliding with my father as a result. “This isn’t befitting behavior for a man about to begin his First Hunt” Osgar admonished. “Elowen, go to the kitchen and help your Mother tidy up before we head to town.” El skirted around our father into the hallway. Safely out of his eyeline, she directed one last mocking tongue in my direction before slinking away. “Are you ready to go?” He raked his disapproving gaze over my gear, searching for any flaw he could call attention to. “Yes, sir.” I responded. I did feel ready. This was the moment I had been preparing for my whole life. My body was honed by years of workouts and my skills were unquestioned. I had graduated top of my class in my training group. I was certainly ready to leave the house, as I wanted nothing more than independence. Besides my Mother and sister, I had nothing keeping me here. Not anymore. So I grabbed my bag and walked out the door. When my family was all ready, we began the walk to the edge of town where the sendoff was taking place. There we would eat, drink, dance and say our goodbyes. I spent my time standing on the outskirts of the group, hoping my stern face would signal everyone to leave me alone. I didn’t have any desire to get my ego fluffed by a bunch of people who just wanted to get in the good graces of my Father. I just wanted to leave. The one person I actually wished had come to bid me farewell had decided not to show up, not that I could blame him. Eleven other men would be sent off at the same time as me. We were all being sent in different directions, but we were all given the same instruction: go kill a witch. That is exactly what I intended to do. Success rates had been much lower over the past few years. After the Great Slaughter fifty years prior, there were only so many witches left to kill. In fact a witch hadn’t been successfully hunted in around 4 years. Most hunters came back many months after their departure unable to track any down. The people of Dolag figured the warriors of the Great Slaughter had ushered the witches into near extinction. The only evidence we had that they weren’t entirely eradicated were the cases of the men who never returned. Every once in a while, there was a man who was assumed to have met his demise at the hands of one of the remaining witches. So the Hunts continued on. After a few hours of festivities, it was time for us to set off. I was ready to say my goodbyes. I knelt down so El could wrap her arms around my neck. Her hot tears dampened the fabric covering my shoulders. “Promise me you will come back,” she said. I squeezed her a little tighter. “Don’t worry, you’ll get a few months of the stench free, scrambled-egg-filled, only-child experience and then I will be right back to boss you around.” El released me from her grip in order to look me in the eyes. “I’m not kidding around Bear.” Her piercing gaze mirrored the intensity of her voice. “Promise me.” Even though I knew it wasn’t something I could realistically guarantee, I hugged her once more and said “I promise, Elly.” After a moment, I stood up and ruffled my little sister’s hair. Then I turned to my Mother, who watched with watery eyes. The hair that had escaped from her tight bun was wisping around her face in the gentle breeze. The sun shining behind her produced an effect reminiscent of a halo. She embraced me with a level of care only a Mother could deliver. “I love you, Wren. You will always be my darling songbird,” she whispered into my ear. I released myself from the hug, and smiled one last time at my adoring Mother. I nodded once before forcing myself to turn to my Father. “Don’t disappoint me, son.” He stuck out his calloused hand and I shook it begrudgingly. It felt like cold leather in my grip. That was it. That was my final farewell from my Father. ‘Don’t disappoint’. No good luck, no I love you, nothing of the sort. Only a damn handshake. I knew I shouldn’t have expected anything different, but it still put me in a sour mood. What a great start to my expedition. I looked one last time at my sister and Mother in an effort to preserve some positive thoughts about my home. When I cemented this image in my mind, I omitted the withering glare of my Father beside them. I spun around and started down the path towards Deirtalamh. I marched towards witch country without so much as a glance over my shoulder. I was days into my trek when I came across the cabin. Being the son of Osgar Nieva gave me claim to the most promising Hunt. My journey was actually mapped to this location, whereas the rest of my group had to resort to aimless meandering. I heard the gentle melody of a person humming drifting out from within the house. How odd. My superiors swore it was a witch that lived here. A hunter from a few years prior reported catching a glimpse of a cabin before he was suddenly lost in the woods. Who could be humming so pleasantly within this peaceful home so deep into witch territory? I maneuvered my head to look through the open window and saw the source of the cheerful noise. She appeared like the sun incarnate. Her dark skin contrasted beautifully against the pale yellow of her clothes. Her hair curled unbound around her face. She stirred a pot of stew as she swayed softly to her own music, the fabric of her dress swishing mesmerizingly around her thighs. Beautiful suddenly seemed like an insufficient word to describe someone of her standing. I knew she was not the witch I had come to hunt. Of course I was no fool, I was aware that witches could glamor themselves to be beautiful. But their false beauty was always like that of a succubus, unnatural and deadly. No witch would have been able to conjure up the effortless and soft beauty of the woman in front of me. I was sure of it. Never mind the fact that if she were a witch, I would most certainly be dead. She would have sensed me coming from the moment I stepped foot onto her land, and she would have been ready to strike. If I had let myself get distracted for this long in the presence of a witch, I would have paid for my mistake in blood. I wondered how she had come to live in Deirtalamh. I’d heard tales of villagers who’d tried their luck here out of desperation, choosing to brave the dangers of witch territory rather than living in the impoverished slums of Dolag. I’d also heard of extreme cases where dangerous criminals were exiled here. This woman looked neither criminal in nature nor desperate to survive. She looked content. Regardless, I must get her to safety. I walked briskly over to the door and entered the cabin.

2023.06.09 16:52 samelel [WTS] classic knife bundle, includes two GEC's
Hi,
Timestamp and Album Everything for $280.
- Tactile Turn bolt action copper short pen - writes great. has a little bit of patina forming around the tip. This pen got me back into semi-regular journaling, and I've bought a few different pens that I prefer now.
- GEC 892121S Fruit Knife with stabilized antique chestnut wood - the last person who owned this sharpened it and roughed the blade a little bit. The factory drilled an extra hole in the scale and filled it with epoxy, then marked the tang with an S. Smooth, no stop action with a light pull. edit: comes with tube and pin
- Mercator Black Cat stainless steel - great condition, edge is sharp and handle doesnt have any signs of wear
- Laguoile ebony - beautiful spine with an extremely thin and sharp edge. Has a 3/4 stop and a heavy pull.
- Boker Stockman medium with brown jigged bone - used for small whittling projects and sharpened for that job. the clip point does a great job at shaping while the spey blade does a great job at detailed work. the sheepsfoot is more of the every-day uses.
- Swiss Army Knife Spartan 100 Year Anniversary - saw it at an antique store and had to have it. I bought some accessories that will also come with it: a flint to replace the toothpick (original toothpick included) and a mini corkscrew tool set. Admired it for a while, now it's time to move on.
- Rough Ryder doctor's knife with pearl and malachite scales - pretty knife with a nice historical design. smooth walk and talk with a light pull.
- GEC 818222 yellow rose coon skinner - my first GEC and it has a nice subtle blue sheen on the secondary blade from cutting apples. It really did show me why GEC is so well regarded in the slipjoint community. Smooth, light pull with a soft 3/4 stop. edit: comes with tube and pin
- Rough Ryder fish knife with copper and black bone - another pretty knife with a functional but elegant design. The hook sharpener fell off but was gorilla glued back into place. Shows a little bit of wear on the copper from being in my pocket while out fishing, but I've never used it on a fish. Has a light pull and the blade has a soft half stop.
- Blue smoke hank - to add to your knife dumps. Has a microfiber stitched to the back for glasses or whatnot.
Thanks for looking. Hope you have a great weekend.

2023.06.09 16:42 Melodic_Cantaloupe88 Im starting to get nervous on my high sat fat diet, but still believe in it
The past 2 months I have only used animal fats (ghee/tallow for eggs) in cooking and nearly daily have been having some cheese. I would be in keto but this time of year I enjoy fresh fruits like watermelon and mangoes too much. But this winter will probably do keto for sure.
My daily food is normally like this: Breakfast is 3-4 eggs in tallow or butter. Or just 5oz of high quality cheese like real parm or gruyere.
Lunch/dinner ( I only eat from 6-11:30) is normally some sort of protein like a half pound or more of lamb/beef/salmon. This is always eaten with pineapple/mango/watermelon lately.
I know I probably shouldnt do the fruits but like I said this time of year I like them too much. I also do zero grain aside from homemade mac and cheese or spaghetti once a week. But I use only a handful of the pasta. I dont do any other form of grain.
I have felt excellent off seed oils and even olive oil. Months ago I had very low saturated fat and felt like crap. I ate a lot of peanut buttealmonds and a lot of dried fruit, usually a pot of oats or rice a day too. In hindsight im fortunate to not have gotten obese. I could never imagine that diet again. The thought turns my stomach.
I should also say cheese used to constipate me, but since dropping grains and pufa/mufa fats I have had no digestive issues aside from what might be slight delayed stomach emptying due to the high fat currently.
However ive been reading some stuff, its hard to tell if its just the old 20th century propaganda of sat fats but with my diet not being fully keto im nervous my ldl is soaring and im slowly setting in arterial plaque and heart disease from all the cheese and fatty beef ive been eating. I know whithout a blood test nobody here can help me but im just wanting some insight from those more experienced.
Am I on a dangerous road or what? And thanks for reading.

2023.06.09 16:39 Lamb_Shiftquantum Finished reply 1988,what next
So i finished my first proper kdrama, Befor this i have tried many kdramas but for some reason i lost interest in them for various reasons.Like goblin, itawon etc.One of the biggest reason was extra cheesy dialogues or you can say cringe acting. This also had some but cheese but in perfect amount. Also what i liked was that every character had their moments, and it was a journey.Bleave me after some episodes i didn't cared much about ending ,I just enjoyed spending time with my favourite set of character. When it was about to end i stretched last two episodes for about a month ,just so i could spend extra time with this.
So good peoples of this universe recommend me something which would again take me on a journey.
No extra cheese,only a little
Good acting.(this is the main reason i cried after allmost every episode)
A little bit lovy dovy stuff
Complete episodes (episode should feel complete) ,I think this was the main reason i was able to complete this.
My favourite characters:Bo-ra and her Father(Sung Dong-il) ,this man ruled

2023.06.09 16:38 N9149U My diet and my readings
I've been happily eating pretty much the same things for a few weeks now. Breakfast = eggs & ham with salsa, Lunch & Dinner = large salad (lettuce, cucumber, celery, radish, green pepper, black olives, egg & Olive Garden Italian dressing), homemade chicken salad, cottage cheese, gumbo (for some reason the rice doesn't seem to affect me) and finally strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and an occasional apple. I don't snack much, but if I do it's been pistachios. Obviously, I have the occasional surprise meal, but I do a reasonably good job of steering clear of carbs, etc. I have started to drink scotch again recently. I hadn't drank for a few months until a week or so ago.
My blood sugar was 500+ 5 weeks ago.
I've been on Metformin ER 1000mg for years and am now on Lispro, Tresiba and Ozempic. The Lispro is 3X a day on a scale of 0-10 and lately I usually just need 2 units. The Tresiba is 25 units every night. And the Ozempic is 25 units once a week (one more @ 25 and then I go to 50).
My blood sugar first thing in the morning ranges between 110 and 125 (156 on one occasion). Before lunch is in the mid to high 120's (93 on one occasion). Before dinner is 110 to 130 (94 on one occasion).
I've begun to question why I'm eating any fruit at all? I've eaten somewhat carefully for a long time (30 years) and done Atkins, Keto (lazy), etc. so it's somewhat natural for me to go this direction - I've done it before. The fruit seems to be green lighted from what I read, but now I'm wondering if I should leave that out? We always have a supply of berries around, so I eat them in moderation, but regularly. I make a point to eat the berries before they go bad on me.
I don't see my doc until August. I can see progress, but from what I read, my numbers are still a little high (considering the drugs I'm taking?). My doc did tell me up front that it would be a gradual process, but I seem to be stalled in the 110 - 120 range.
My diet is pretty simple and I've weeded out things that seemed to have set me off (oatmeal & granola).
Anyone see any changes I should make?

2023.06.09 16:35 bellumaster Gut Feeling
Balzleban was nothing if not cautious.
An ambassador called forth by the council of his people, he was personable, intelligent, and one of the few of his race that didn’t possess their natural naivete. Thanks to his gift of skepticism, in his years of service he had amassed a body of individuals charged with defense and support of him in difficult situations.
It was no weakness to acknowledge one’s shortcomings; instead of trying to bluff his way through interactions he knew nothing about, he listened to the words, warnings, and calculations of those with good track records and recommendations. He could not trust himself to make judgement calls- but he trusted others in judging of those who could.
That was why today, he left his ship with no less than eight xenos bodyguards, informants, and interpreters at his side. The interaction that would take place today would herald the end of a war that had lasted for over three hundred years.
The ship rested behind him on the dock, engines cooling. Before him the ambassador of the CoolNee waited patiently, as was ever their strength. Patience and subterfuge, countered by the brute power of his people. Every time they had bared their throats in a show of peace, the CoolNee had broken their pacts- but this time, it would be different.
Balzleban scanned his retinue for peace of mind. Two machine-beings incapable of rest constantly evaluated their surroundings. In front of them were his interpreter of language and cultural significance, his interpreter of situation and context, two bodyguard from his own people who both carried enough armaments to flatten a city, and a dangerous looking creature from the rancid prisons of a fringe world. It sniffed the air, continuously on the lookout for blood-hunger.
Alongside that creature was the newest addition to his retinue, a human woman with long black hair, a tall rifle of some sort, and several sidearms. She had come highly recommended as an expert in unseen threats; though the description was vague, Balzleban had erred on the side of caution and submitted a request of service.
She’d been on his payroll for two months now and, aside from the odd word here and there, had not truly contributed much that could not be done by the others. He was beginning to wonder if her services were redundant. They approached the CoolNee ambassador, who stood alone beside the entrance to the pact hall.
“Haio, Balzleban. A pleasure to see you again.”
“Let us hope it is the last time, Nogguran.” Balzleban responded. “Where are the rest of the ambassadors? Pellidan, Farati?”
Nogguran spoke smoothly to ease his anxieties. “They await below, Balzleban. No need for concern.”
Balzleban turned to his retinue. The machines flashed green, the specialists waved assent, the bodyguards stood ready, and the beast-thing grumbled with hunger. Only the human seemed put off, her eyes narrowed.
Odd. She was usually so reserved.
Balzleban addressed her. “Is there a concern, Lydia?”
She spoke quietly, eyes shifting side to side. “Something’s wrong.”
Nogguran was quick to assuage her misgivings. Maybe too quick- but Balzleban could never tell.
“Of course not- merely a small change in the traditional reception. No need to worry.”
Lydia dropped a hand to her belt and made some motion that Balzleban couldn’t decipher.
“I’m certain. Let’s proceed then.”
Balzleban followed Nogguran down the path into the pact hall. His mind, shackled as it was by his trusting nature, could not see what was hidden. Yet he knew that he was a blind child being led by those he’d been told could see.
They filed into the pact hall after Nogguran. Balzeban turned back to address his retinue and saw the human’s eyes widen as she stepped across the threshold.
“Lydia-”
The human female unslung her rifle and primed it. “We need to leave immediately. There’s a trap of some kind up ahead.”
Balzeban looked from her to the rest of his advisors. The machines showed no alert; his interpreters calm, bodyguards relaxed, and even the beast creature showed no sign of disturbance.
Was the human to be trusted? She had shown no affinity for independent reports of danger before.
“Balzeban. You need to get out of here, now!”
He was nothing if not cautious.
Balzeban shouted behind him as he ran back up the exit, followed closely by his bodyguards and the machines.
“Apologies Nogguran! One of my advisors suggests foul play, and I’m led to believe her. Another time, perhaps.”
Nogguran turned back towards them, hands spread. “Please, be-”
The human’s shot went clear through his head, revealing it to be a hologram. Nogguran shattered. The beast thing began to growl- unpleasant sounds reminiscent of soldiers began to echo about the chamber.
The doors leading back to the dock had been locked from the outside, of course. His bodyguards set to making short work of the blockade.
Balzeban turned back to the human, who stood at the bottom of the stairs alongside the beast thing.
Lydia activated some sort of device and a shield popped up before her, blocking the stairwell. Through the murky green haze of the shield Balzeban could see a mass of mercenary soldiers, perfect for an ambush had they ventured further in.
“Come, Lydia! The doors are open!”
They left the lair of the CoolNee to see enemy forces closing in on his ship. Had they waited any longer, their only means of egress would have most definitely fallen into enemy hands.
They rushed for the ship, machines and bodyguards on either side giving and receiving fire as they blocked Balzleban with their bodies. The human sprinted alongside them, long rifle coughing out bursts of light. The beast thing gnawed on something unpleasant while the interpreters ran tokeep up with them, clothing flapping.
They piled into the ship- the pilot immediately cycled the engines and took off.
Balzeban paused. It should have taken over a half hour for the engines to prepare for sub-orbital flight. Instead of fighting off a horde of mercenaries, they were already safe in the air and headed for the nearest Order outpost.
Balzleban composed himself and approached the human, who was performing maintenance on her weapon. She looked at him, dark eyes satisfied.
He gestured to the pilot.
“You knew? You warned of immediate evacuation?”
“Call it a hunch.”
“How did you know? The machines reported no threat, the-”
“Some things,” Lydia said as she popped out the power cartridge for cleaning, “Can’t be recognized. They have to be felt. It felt wrong, and it was.”
She clicked the cartridge back into place. “I learned long ago to always trust my gut.”
Balzleban returned to the bridge, mind humming along at the events that had taken place. He didn’t understand even in the slightest, but the human had obviously warned and saved them from what would have been a fairly unfavorable ambush.
Balzeban looked over his retinue, mostly unscathed, and decided that the human had already earned her pay up to that point, and would most likely do so in the future.
Even if it was just a ‘gut instinct’.

2023.06.09 16:33 Polemo03 "Enemy Strength" in combat settings doesn't change enemies' HP... It changes YOUR DPS.
idk if this is well-known already, but since this isn't on the wiki, I'm putting this here.
So I was playing around with the settings, (namely cranking up the combat difficulty bc I find it too easy), I noticed that my DPS dropped a lot. So I started experimenting.
Space Combat
Numbers mean DPS.
Ship: C-class sentinel interceptor that I upgraded all the way to S-class
Infra-knife with all upgrades, supercharged slots included
Weak: 168,610 (~2.5x standard) / Standard: 67, 444 / Challenging: 44,513 (~0.66x standard)
Infra-knife with no upgrades, on a non-supercharged slot
Weak: 8,478 (~2.5x standard) / Standard: 3,391 / Challenging: 2,238 (~0.66x standard)
Ground Combat
Numbers mean the amount of bursts it takes, with my Boltcaster (all upgrades), to defeat one Sentinel Hardframe Battle Mech.
Weak: ~1.5 bursts
Standard: ~4 bursts
Challenging: ~6 bursts
Damage value (Multitool's stats) does not change as I changed the difficulty settings, but judging by actual damage dealt to sentinels per shot, it also follows similar trends, that in Weak difficulty, damage gets a 2.5x multiplier; in Challenging difficulty, damage gets a 0.66x multiplier.
Conclusion
Weak: 2.5x player damage multiplier
Standard: 1x player damage multiplier
Challenging: 0.66x player damage multiplier
Well, there you go... Next time don't panic after changing difficulty settings and seeing the drop in DPS.

2023.06.09 16:32 OldmanRevived I saw one movie (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts)
Trailer Save for a few contrarians, critics tend to hate the "Transformers" movies with a passion that surpasses both reason and the snobbery that most normal folks assume critics delight in. The hate could have something to do with the fact that ostensibly grown adults of a certain age resent being compelled to grapple with films in which the heroes are a race of intergalactic robots that disguise themselves as human-designed cars and trucks. And the fact that these heroes originated as toys, and that the films themselves can be said to function as promotional marketing for said toys, gives the more crass-commercialism-conscious critics uneasy pause, to say the least.
Let's say, as a thought experiment, though, that a critic can get over these hurdles. The fact remains that the ostensible "mythology" of the Transformers is one of the most asinine conceits ever committed in the name of sci-fi fantasy. Some will argue that watching these CGI creatures do their dizzying morphing while performing feats of derring-do, such as snatching their human friends and enablers from the jaws of death, entirely justifies the idiocy of the conceit. I dunno. Call me old-school, but I love a good old-fashioned breakneck movie car chase enough that I generally don't need it spiced up by all manner of physics-stretching cybernetic kineticism. I'm funny that way.
People admire or loathe the "Transformers" series because it actively resists anything of artistic merit, and allows its unbridled, merciless vision to run rampant. At this point, after five previous mainline installments, the audience is more apt to wonder if a series of movies about giant robots can jump the proverbial shark. It seems like a stretch, considering that these movies typically have plots that mirror the playtime stories that a less-imaginative child might have, but the screenplay for "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" seems set on accomplishing the goal of turning these very silly movies into something that is somehow even sillier indeed.
The setting is initially New York City in 1994, where Noah (Anthony Ramos), a military veteran, is struggling to find work to help his family. His younger brother Kris (Dean Scott Vazquez) has sickle cell disease, and with so much debt toward the kid's health care, neither Noah nor his mother (Luna Lauren Velez) can pay for any more treatment. Looking for some quick cash, he decides to steal a car that just happens to be Mirage (voiced by Peter Davidson), one of the Autobots stranded on Earth following a war on their home planet. Even more coincidentally, Noah gets into the transforming robot just as the group's leader Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) calls upon them.
Meanwhile, at a local museum, archivist intern Elena (Dominique Fishback) has accidentally awakened half of the plot's MacGuffin: a key that could open a portal to anywhere in the universe. Prime sees it as a way for the Autobots to return to their planet. It's also a means for Unicron (voiced by Colman Domingo), a massive robot with a metallic sphincter for a mouth, to devour every planet in the universe. The makeshift team of humans and robots has to find the key's other half in Peru, while keeping it out of the hands of Unicron's underlings, led by Scourge (voiced by Peter Dinklage).
All of this is relatively simple and straightforward, which is a surprise after the increasingly bloated nonsense of the previous five movies. It also means that both the screenplay (somehow requiring five writers) and director Steven Caple Jr. have little time or patience for anything that isn't exposition or action. That includes the introduction of a new group of transforming robots, fashioned after Earth animals (yet originating from a planet in a different galaxy and, oddly, having fur and feathers, too), called Maximals, and whose vocal performances include Ron Perlman as the leader gorilla, and Michelle Yeoh as a robotic falcon.
The entire film culminates as a contest between no less than four titans who speak in ominous electronic tones. Scourge seems dangerously close to destroying the planet on multiple occasions, only for Optimus Prime to reveal that he can't end the world until he finds another McGuffin. First he needs the key, then we learn there was a second half of the key, then he needs a code to operate the key that is also split into two parts. By the time the Maximals team up with Optimus Prime for a final battle (which just so happens to result in the destruction of Machu Picchu), audience emotions have been transparently manipulated so many times that it's impossible to muster any kind of investment.
The action is serviceable enough, in that it's visible and generally coherent across the dull gray landscape of the climax. But as the sixth example of this franchise focusing so much on the empty spectacle of digital creations pummeling and blasting each other, it comes across as especially hollow and repetitive now. Some of that isn't the movie's fault, of course, because there's only so much that one can do with this sort of material. But even if this entry is more competent and streamlined than its forebears, the fact that "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" falls back on the expectations, formula, and patterns of its other predecessors is a disappointment entirely of the movie's own making.

2023.06.09 16:27 Seattle_Jenn S3E3 Re-Kap
I posted this as a reply to another thread, but thought (thot?) I would share here, too. Please to enjoy my recap of S3 Episode 3. Spoilers (obviously).
- Starting off in LA. Kim's body guard/ stylist puts them both in black coats and camo pants so she can go meet Scott for pizza and pre-planned gossip. They're both single, so they have lots to talk about. Like how it's too hard for Kim to go on first dates with guys and also too hard for Kim to break up with guys. She did go out with a guy in NYC, but wasn't smart enough to not go to the same place where she used to hang out with Pete, so everyone thought she was getting back together with Pete. Scott recommends she go for an older Italian businessman, but only if he's hot. Kim's not into it. So they talk about Cher and her much younger boyfriend AE. It's the best. But also probably the worst because Cher must be too old to bang him with the lights on. Kim only bangs with the lights off now. You know, because she's shy.
Two. Kourtney is doing a photo shoot for Lemme "Fall in Love" with Travis. Their love was not the result of a Potion No.9, but for people without their chemistry, who have $30, these supplements containing the essence of flowers will open your heart. Domineco Dolce and his dudes stop by so Kourtney can remind everyone she knew them way before her wedding. Also, Kourtney is shy and didn't speak as a child. Until she was a teenager. The stylist puts Travis in no shirt and they roll around together taking pictures very similar to all the other pictures they've taken before.
- Kris stops by to see Khloe and Rob. I mean Tate. I mean Tatum. Khloe and Tristan are doing great because they are never ever getting back together ever again. They have very good boundaries and Khloe does not want to fall into old habits. Khloe feels guilty she isn't connecting with her second baby -- that she had in secret via surrogate while her ex-fiancee was having his fourth baby with his side chick -- the same as True. So we have to talk about the difficulties of surrogacy/ miracle of being a mother again. Tatem is now on goat milk formula. He might, but does not puke on Kris.
- In NYC, Kendall is getting ready to attend a Marni show at Fashion Week. This is much more fun and relaxing than when she used to walk the shows because now she is good and healthy and has good boundaries. Kris calls and tells Kendall she's the favorite daughter. But we all know it's really Kylie. Kris said so yesterday while taking a lie detector test on TV.
- Back in LA, it's 6 days before the D&G show and Kim's glam team is getting her ready for a pre-show photo shoot. Her role as Kreative Director of the show has involved creating looks. Well, looks D&G originally created in the 90s. They are so cool and Kim-esque. Crystals from head to toe. Kim is worried about how Kourtney will feel about this whole thing. She probably wouldn't mind at all if it was just a little bit later. (Because time heals all wounds?)
- It's stormy in NYC. Kourtney is in town for fashion shows and Lemme press. She has anxiety and PTSD and needs drugs. Or maybe Lemme matcha. Kourtney wants to show how passionate she is about vitamins. She used to hate press because of the criticism and pressure from the family to earn her keep. But now she's married and confident, so she was able to decide on flavors for her vitamins. Kris watched the Today Show interview and gave it a thumbs up, because Kourtney looked beautiful. Simon thinks that's amazing. The team thinks Kourtney did a great job of organically talking about Lemme during the interview about Lemme.
- Still in NYC, Kourtney is making rounds of the magazines, handing out Lemme pills like Halloween candy. Kourtney loves Lemme Focus, but can't remember why. Travis wore no shirt to perform at a Tommy Hilfiger fashion show. Kris and Kendall show up. Kris tries out a few tag lines for the next campaign like "Lemme get the hell out of here and get a drink." They talk about Khloe's good test results from her melanoma situation. Which Kendall has diagnosed as a result of Khloe being too tired and stressed. Kourtney is a perfectionist and Kendall is a control freak both because of pressure from Kris. Kris thinks thats hilarious. Kendall suggests if they can channel the baggage of their dysfunctional childhoods into productive work, it's all good. Kris will take the blame for any anxiety she has caused, as long as it results in a successful product release.
- Back to LA. Kim is spending quality time with North by allowing her to do her makeup with special effects makeup while she talks to Scott. Scott pitches an idea for an episode where they pretend to be normies. According to Kim, Kris is sad that she has pushed everyone into being so famous they have no sense of actual reality. But Kim can handle it. She's never been depressed. While her daughter continues to work on turning her into an old lady, Kim talks about being fine when her dad died. North farts. It smelled bad. North walks Kim around the house introducing her to the staff as Anika the Art Teacher. The staff helps Kim make her alone time with North fun by playing along. Kim loves making North happy by playing pranks and hanging out with Scott.
- Kourtney and Trav are walking around NYC. Kourtney's outfit choice -- an oversized Blink-182 shirt and over the knee boots -- can't survive the 12 minute walk because the boots are falling down. Trav thinks she should take them off (And walk around barefoot in the rat feces and period blood covered sidewalk? Khloe would never let her set foot in her house ever again!) They make it to the Matcha shop without Travis needing to carry Kourtney like last time. NYC was a whirlwind, but Kourtney will always put family and husband ahead of work.
- Kim arrives in Milan. However, her stylist does not because she forgot her passport. How is Kim supposed to do her job as Fashion Show Kreative Director without a stylist? How is Kim supposed to know what she likes and doesn't like without Danielle there to tell her? Someone needs to fly to Milan with her passport. There are 3 days left and they have no looks. Kim arrives at the D&G studio where 10 people are there ready to get a room full of D&G pieces into looks. Domineco tells Kim, "Your opinion in this case is very great for us." Kim wants people to think this show of rehashed 90s fashions is "Fresh" and "Cool." But it's going to be problematic for Kreative Director Kim to pull this off without her stylist. She always needs someone to confirm that something looks good. Kim doesn't want to do veils (Because Kourtney?). Kim wants more bedazzles, but also needs to check with Danielle. Domineco isn't crazy about bedazzled glasses with a corset dress, but Kim doesn't know without talking to Danielle. There's that fear people won't like it. (Is Danielle supposed to be the scape goat in case this whole show sucks?) A bad show could hurt Kim's brand. People might say Kim doesn't know how to work on the creative side. (Um... they're sure going to say that now, after she is such a floundering mess without her stylist!). She just doesn't know how she's going to do this without Danielle.
Scenes: Kim thinks Danielle not being there happened for a reason. Kendall takes Kylie horseback riding and tries to kill her. Kourtney wants to kill Kim for kopying her wedding.
