Reddit more or less shutting down 3rd party apps by increasing the cost for API access and eliminating ALL API access to Adult (NSFW) subs has motivated me to start looking for alternatives.
I love this sub and community, and many others like it, but I'm not going to continue to use a platform that's incentivised to degrade the higher level user experience when making policy and development decisions.
It poisons the user base and gives me a headache if I'm honest.
It's already been like that for a while, tired of seeing low quality, morally shallow, and pandering posts/comments being pushed to the top.
Nuanced discussion is rarer these days almost everywhere and I find that to be very concerning.
Not sure where I heard this but it's a phrase that stuck with me.
I'm going to vote with my feet. I don't like where reddit is heading and I find a lot of the more mainstream subs to be ecco chambers of social affirmation and recycled content. It's almost as bad as Facebook. Don't want an app that's built around feeding their users metered out dopamine hits in order to drive engagement.
Reddit is big enough that it's always going to be here, unless the company does something really shortsighted to cash in of course, so I'll probably use reddit as a jumping off point instead of where I stop when finding communities in the future.
For those of you who feel as I do, I hope my post helps give you a little push to do the same or at least consider what alternatives are out there.

On the other hand, Taiko zkEVM can be very easily integrated to work with any dApp already existing on L1 to also benefit from the 1/100th+ cheaper gas fees and instant transactions gained from bundling. Upon release, the switch to zkEVM (which has inherited L1 Ethereum security) will be a no-brainer for most current popular Ethereum dApps as having various L2 solutions is a key aspect for scaling in the current grand-scale Ethereum roadmap. If leading dApps don't make the switch for whatever reason, then they risk losing users/creators to the competition that will, because who wants to pay higher fees, wait 10-20 minutes for settlement, and/or compromise security to sidechains... when you simply don't have to anymore? Taiko's general success within Ethereum would also be directly beneficial for Loopring's protocol, which would be the first functional L2 running on top of Taiko as an L3:
The success of L2 and L3 here also benefits Ethereum L1 because the condensing of transactions per block on L2/L3 will lower the amount of settlement requests in the queue for L1 verification - making L1 cheaper and faster due to the max 30 transaction/sec limit not being as throttled, which then also makes it cheaper for L2 + L3 to settle. The increased amount of users from the more efficient system will eventually attract more validators, making L1 more decentralised and populated (and less likely to go down due to potential attacks) meaning L2/L3 relayers going down also won't affect access to the overall underlying system - only the benefits of cheaper fees + speed. The whole Ethereum (and even cross-blockchain) ecosystem benefits as one from these advancements. There seems to be a lot more straight FUD / lack of activity on this subreddit compared to the late 2021 $3.50 days, but honestly this is huge and I am really proud of the Loopring team for their consistent developments over the past 2~ years since catching attention from this whole GameStop saga. Sure, the endless hype from Byron (especially around late 2021) could have been toned down as it led to some holders expecting immediate gratification with some sort of nuclear announcement. However, the proof is in the pudding, and the functionality we now have within the Loopring protocol with the non-custodial wallet(s), GameStop Marketplace, NFT minting, staking, on-ramp + off-ramp, DEX with CEX liquidity (!!!) etc. is a whole Michelin 3-star banana pudding. The release of the Taiko zkEVM + implementation of sharding within L1 is going to make Ethereum (and as a result: Loopring) way more appealing for so many different systems, but especially financial. After the working implementation of those two within the next ~6-12 months - all we are really missing is actual mass adoption and the creation of more dApps using Loopring, but I don't think we are far away. Banks: Hold your fiat in a black-box, force you to wait several days to complete transfers etc. (+ any bank holidays/weekend delays), and use Visa/MasterCard for purchases which is another 1.5%+ fee for merchants. Loopring: Personally hold stablecoins/ETH/wBTC in your non-custodial wallet on a white-box trustless service, 24/7 ability to send assets instantly and for free to anyone else using Loopring, and can still interact with TradFi via non-custodial cryptocards w/ vIBAN. 🤔 💜x💙 |

I think there's a lot for the team to be thinking about for the next season, but my main request (in the small off chance they see this post) is to tone down the music.
We all love 90s music: Nirvana, Radiohead, Garbage, Cranberries, Pumpkins, etc. And it can be very impactful to have a 90s banger over a poignant scene, but I feel it just happens way too much and becomes very intrusive.
My sense is that music is being used as a crutch to make a scene feel more emotionally deep, presumably because they're either not confident that the scene carries itself or because they've had to edit weirdly and the music smooths it out. But I find the over reliance on very famous songs to carry the emotion starts to grate after a while.
For instance, I rewatched the "oops we killed Javi" scene from the beginning of ep9 with some simple, sad music, and it felt a lot more emotional to me. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cranberries, but I found them blasting Zombie over the action pretty distracting. On top of that, this episode had Street Stpirit, a Metallica cover, a Buffy Sainte Marie song, and two (!) versions of Killing Moon, all of which made the music feel really intrusive.
I hope season 3 has more original music which is designed to fit the tone better, and maybe a limit of 1 or 2 90s bangers per episode.

A Prayer in Hell: X-Raided’s highly-anticipated Strange Music debut is an incredible, haunting masterpiece

X-Raided has been an underground king for over 30 years, releasing classics like Psycho Active, Xorcist, Unforgiven Vol 1, and Nefarious, the majority of which were recorded during his well-documented incarceration. After nearly a quarter of a century behind bars, X’s prayer was finally granted and he was released early on parole in 2018 and went straight to work, dropping There is a Storm (2018) and California Dreamin’ (2020). In May of 2022 it was announced X had signed to Strange Music, the home of legendary rapper Tech N9ne, setting fan anticipation and expectations at all-time highs.
From the moment the ominous lines of the intro begins, X grabs you and pulls you into the surreal, hellish landscape that serves as the setting for the album. “A Prayer in Hell” is a dark, fantastical refrain that showcases X’s incredible lyricism and unrelenting delivery as he describes his nefarious origin story. “He only behaves when ensnared in his cell, beware the evil he’s prepared to unveil, if he’s ever released from the place where he’s held, no escape, there’s not even a prayer in hell”.
On “Return of the Living Dead”, X likens himself to a “demonic angel” and tells how he lost himself and ultimately “became a dragonslayer in hell”. Next, X writes some “Life Sentences”, an introspective track that paints a despairing portrait of prison and street life over an atmospheric beat “Hard to change from demon to angel, when you spent the majority of your life learnin’ to scheme and finagle, when its glorified”. On “To Whom it May Concern”, X tells of the self-destructive and suicidal feelings that torment him as a result of his life of sin.
Here the album switches gears and begins a string of features with some legendary rappers. X stole the show with his feature on “Still Right Here” from Tech N9ne’s album, so Neena arrives to return the favor on the pulsating single “Stratus Fear”. Here the two rappers have some fun exchanging a string of tongue-twisting and mind-bending verses. Next, Ras Kass and X take on “Any Challenger”, a boastful, energetic banger. ”James Taylor, Carole King” is the mantra on the infectious “Legendary”, where X is joined by labelmate King Iso who delivers another signature highlight verse. Playboi Prada and Bleezy add some mayhem on “Knoccin’”, a street anthem with a beat that could have been produced by Michael Myers himself.
The second half of the album starts with “No1 is Safe”, another slammin’ single that X obliterates with his implaccable flow. The beat for “Celebration” is so laid back it could feel right at home on a Wiz Khalifa or Berner album. A-Wax adds a nice verse and hook to this smooth track. X-Raided takes it back to the 70’s with “Blaxploitation” a funky track where X puts himself in the starring role as a Shaft-like character.
“Villains in the Streets” is another standout anthem with a strong feature from Yowda. The album reaches its zenith with “Parasitic”, where X describes the dangers of gang mentality over an absolute banger of a beat. "I got you participating in genocide and you did it with pride.”
“That was then, this is now” the rapper declares as we transition to “The Bridge”, an old-school summer-time jam that has X reflecting over his childhood days. Joey Cool delivers an inspired guest verse. On “Ka-el” X dons the red cape and describes how he discovered his own powers: “It wasnt until I came down to earth that I realized, I was gifted, everything changed, my perspective shifted.”
“This is not a song, this is a poem” X states on “Many Apologies”, the final track of the album . “Seconds, minutes, hours, days” he repeats on the hook, reflective of the album cover that shows X sitting in a room with several clocks on the walls, an analogy for the despair he felt at never knowing when or if he would ever be released from prison.
A Prayer in Hell is an exceptional piece of art that is not only X-Raided’s best album yet, but one of the best albums of the year. The production is diverse and top notch, creating a chilling atmosphere that mirrors the intense storytelling and introspection found within each track. Moreover, the album's guest features are carefully curated and perfectly complement X-Raided's style. Each collaboration brings a unique dynamic, adding depth and variety to the overall sound. I'm so confused by the midnights rollout, we are probably in the time in history she has the most opportunities for success like 1989 type shit. Yet the midnights rollout makes 0 sense in my eyes.
To start i want to say i can agree with everything that happened first week and with Anti Hero It was super smart of her to wait till the album drop to release a the lead single as it would give the song insane momentum, not to mention the MV for Bejeweled and it and question being promotional singles ensured that she got the entire top 10 as she took the weaker streamer tracks and forced interest
Everytime Anti hero seemed like it was about to get passed up she did something to force up numbers live performance, remix so bleacher collab. She made sure all her promotion for the song was at perfect spots to give it the best chance at a long lasting #1.
The 3 am drop was smart as well her having a cohesive 13 tracks base album. Most critical backlash came with her albums being too long so she saved the album in critics eyes while at the same time giving herself the streaming bonus of a 20 track album and bonus points for giving fans a huge surprise
So with that being said my problems with the rollout
Also just in general why was midnight rain not a single it would have been so easy. Fan favourite midnights track with a tik tok trend and perfect potential for a super successful acoustic she missed a huge opportunity there

1 her promotion for Lavender Haze for atrocious
Almost immediately out the gate outside the tour Lavender Haze didn't have even 1 performance one of the best ways to get boosts. Secondly she released it as a single less then a month after Anti Hero basically forcing it to be overshadowed as she was promoting Anti Hero more. Third remixes, she should of got a big name or a least a Swifty respected name for the remix my personal suggestion here would be SZA as she usually is well respected by swifties is popular. Even without the feature remix she gave her other 2 singles she dropped the MV and remixes before the radio peak. There's no reason Lavender Haze had it's highest rechart be weeks after the MV and remixes. She should of waited to drop these with that feature collab she would have a top 3 minimum and a live performance or show appearance would help too2 the huge single gap
While i get Anti Hero was insanely stable that doesn't justify waiting nearly a 7 months in between singles. There should of been a single to fit that in between her best chances there would be Midnight Rain, or based on the way she was promoting things Mastermind would of made sense. I don't think she would need to hone in on promotion due to Lavender Haze and Anti Hero being so stable but a gap single would of helped longevity alot cause why is only 1 midnights track in her Spotify top 5 most popular.Also just in general why was midnight rain not a single it would have been so easy. 3 wtf happened with Karma
My first issue with this is the same as the last issue why was the gap so long. Though there's way more. Once again no live performances (tour don't count) no remix EP this time and she rushed out the feature remix probably to help with controversy and to fit with her being in New York but that doesn't make it a good move. Karma was steadily rising and picking up radio momentum if she gave it another 2 weeks she would have great airplay and if she dropped a remix EP along with the MV and ice spice remix then rather than the original date no one would be able to contest that number 1 spotAlso as a bonus issue she needed more events like performances random exclusive covers remixes etc for none singles to add album longevity it would have helped alot
