2023.06.10 19:05 Until_observed Help!
Hello! I'm not having much luck, coming from a place of zero knowledge. I live in England, I've been very interested in getting a lovely green lawn. During the last couple of months I cut it short, scarified it, raked it reseeded, raked it and watered every day pretty much. However none of the seeds have taken, it hasn't rained on day so far, as we are now entering some rather hot British summer weather. I worked hard to get rid of rhe moss but it feels like its spread more after my efforts. I can't tell if its dead or its coming back and spreading. Also our garden is extremely uneven and I know it would be a complete overall to level it. Where do I go from here? Thank you! submitted by Until_observed to lawncare [link] [comments]

2023.06.10 19:03 Fossil-Forest Could this Nen Ability I've come up with work? If not, how to improve
So, my idea for this Nen Ability, was inspired partially by the current HxH Succession Contest Arc, in which the 14 princes of the Kakin Empire fight to the death in a contest to decide the next heir to the Kakin throne. What inspired me was the Seed Urn, a Conjured Pot, which had existed for what would presumably be a long time, in order for the Kakin Empire to rise from a lower status to the empire it was currently. Just briefly remind people how the Seed Urn works, To prove one's inheritance to the urn, the host (in this case, one of the 14 Princes) focuses their desire for the crown and offers a drop of their blood to the urn, then puts their hand in its mouth-like opening. At this point, a purple smoke fumes from the urn with a tiny female sprite dressed in Kakin traditional clothing holding a small egg, which she inserts into the host's mouth. The princes will thus be granted a Guardian Spirit Beast when the egg hatches. This beast, although it can't be seen or controlled by the princes, defends the princes in different ways, feeding on their host's Nen to maintain themselves, and possess its own Nen abilities that may different from the user's Nen Type, but are based on the personality and nature of the user.
Since I'd imagine this Urn was created from a Nen Ability, probably from one of the first royals of the Kakin Empire, then I figured there could be similar abilities like it. What if there were post-mortem conjured Nen items that were akin to artifacts in the modern times of HxH? Artifacts that could have incredible powers as a result of them being Post-Mortem Nen creations?
So I came up with an idea for a similar Nen Ability, known as "Familial Imp Shrine". Just a warning, it's very detailed and could be confusing, but I explained as best I could. A Cultist Nen User from long ago had a specialization ability that allowed him to summon a shrine with incredible properties. He was backstabbed and killed by his own members of the religion he had founded, but even after his death, the Shrine remained, possible out of an unyielding desire for his beliefs to live on after his end. The Shrine was lost to time, but was eventually uncovered in a ruin by the Hunter Association, where one of my characters ultimately finds the Shrine within his possession.
After researching the Shrine via the Hunters' Tavern, he finds old writings from the Cultist's religion, and through what he learns, activates the conditions for the Familial Imp Shrine.
The Shrine, which resembles a mini Pagoda, is about 7 feet long and 7 feet wide, with a floor, and thin pillars connecting the floor and the Pagoda-style roof. Inside the shrine is a bronze statue, of a demon with four faces, in a meditation pose. The left hand of the statue holds a knife, and the right hand holds a cup. On the lap of the statue sits seven individually colored incense holders with incense in them, always lit. In his research of the shrine, my character found seven different prayers associated with the shrine, each seven lines long, and each corresponding with one of the seven deadly sins.
The way Familial Imp Shrine works, was if a person kneeled at the shrine, and prayed while perfectly reciting one of the seven prayers, then made an "offering" by cutting their finger on the blade, and letting blood drip from their finger into the cup, suddenly, the shrine would start glowing with Nen, and that Nen would enter the one who completed those prerequisites. Suddenly, one of the incense holders would vanish, and the person would then gain a Nen ability, starting with them being able to summon the incense holder that vanished when they made the offering.
Each Prayer mentioned is tied to a Sin, each Sin is tied to a specific incense, and each incense is tied to one of seven abilities the shrine will grant to seven different people who complete certain conditions at the shrine. If the person who does this isn't a Nen User at the start, they are baptized from when the Shrine's Nen floods into their body, and unlock the ability to use Nen, and through training, they will come to be able to use the ability associated with the incense prayer they read out, even though they didn't create the ability themselves. If the person is a Nen User, they will simply gain another Nen Ability, but won't immediately understand it.
Let me give an example: A guy named John goes to the shrine, and recites the prayer relating to the sin of Greed perfectly. He subsequently cuts his index finger on the knife of the demon statue, and drops blood from the injury into the cup of the demon statue. The shrine glows with Nen, which enters John, who is a Nen User, and one of the incense holders vanishes off of the shrine. In addition to his own Nen ability, John finds himself accidentally summoning this Incense Holder. But here's where the true power of the Incense Holder comes into play.
Each of the Incense Holders has an Incense stick in them, which is always lit. Upon being able to intentionally summon the Incense holders, smoke will rise from the stick, and summon a different Demon/Genie-like Nen Beast. These Nen Beasts are all a part of the same Family of Nen Beasts, called "Imps", hence the Shrine being called the "Familial Imp Shrine". Each Nen Beast summoned grants its own services to the summoner in the form of its own unique Nen ability, but each service has its own costs. Here's another example, and very brief summary of one of the powers:
John can now summon the Greed Incense Holder, and subsequently, the Imp Nen Beast associated with Greed, called "The Trader", who can conjure new items for John every day, but he can only buy them with physical objects that hold personal value to him, the costs varying on the item he's buying from the Nen Beast.
Some other examples of costs are from the Sloth Incense, which summons an Imp Nen beast who manages an artificially-created Nen Space that is similar to a hotel, but you have to pay the Imp, also known as the Hotelier, additional Aura to access a room. Each Nen Beast offers a service, with a cost.
You might be wondering however, what could stop a person from praying to the shrine multiple times, to allow that person to obtain multiple incenses? When a person prays and makes a blood sacrifice a second time after already doing so, the shrine kills them, and the incense ability they possessed is returned to the shrine, which mentions an important point. Anyone who dies with one of the incense abilities, that incense is returned to the shrine for someone else to obtain.
But lastly, there is one other result of praying to the shrine, and receiving an ability, that I have yet to mention. No matter who prays to the Shrine, if they have any other Nen Affinity besides Specialization, their affinity is forcibly changed to Specialization to fit the Ability they have inherited, which, although the Nen Beast may use conjuration or Transmutation, since the Beasts and the means of summoning them originate from a Specialization Ability, being the Familial Imp Shrine, the person's Nen type is forced to change to that. However, the person is then unable to create any new Nen Abilities using their new affinity towards Specialization. This is most catastrophic for established Nen Users, who might've been enhancers or emitters, as their established enhancement and emission techniques would be weaker and hard to maintain, thanks to the forced change in typing.
I will make separate posts from this one, detailing all of the individual incense Nen Beast abilities, but for now I hope people have an idea about how the incenses work.
But overall, the Conditions and Limitations of the Familial Imp Shrine are as follows:
The user has to read the proper seven line prayer perfectly, in front of the shrine while praying
The user has to give a drop of blood to the shrine statue
The user cannot to receive a second incense ability from the shrine, for otherwise they will die in the attempt of doing so
The user will forcibly become a specialist, and will be unable to create any new Nen abilities in that Nen category afterwards, and their potential in using abilities in other categories will change as a result
I apologize for the long read, or any grammar mistakes as this took a while to write, but I welcome anyone has any suggestions about reworking it, as I know this isn't a perfect ability, and is more of an idea. However, I just want everyone to know that I worked really hard on creating this ability. Let me know what needs to be fixed, or if there are flaws in it, as I really want to make it better, if it needs to be. Let me know if you like it otherwise!

2023.06.10 19:02 GabrielleMonet I'm a licensed cosmetologist
Recently wubby talked about his experience at a Great Clips. I worked at a GC for almost 5 years, I'd be happy to say that the questions she was asking him were out of boredom 100% and trying to have an interesting conversation. Knowing the industry and work environment of a GC, you're under tremendous pressure to perform at an almost robotic level. Go by the same 5 steps, have the same conversation over and over again at least 30-40 times a day if your haircut times are within "standards" (10-14 minutes start to finish) each day would be pretty mundane for me at least, doing pretty much the same haircut over and over just slightly different and having people be so rude about the dumbest things. Also I have to say him tipping 100% was probably the best time shes gotten in a while. People usually go to GC to save money and they aren't willing to tip much or even at all. (If anyone has any questions about the industry/working at Great Clips let me know) Also I currently live in TX and if the San Diego crew ever needs a personal hairstylist/cosmetologist hit me up :) I'd be happy to do any cuts, colors whatever!

2023.06.10 19:01 nvm_i_guess So sad to see him go. Got any archives ?
I use to watch this guy back when he started to show legacy figures early, he had a bunch of videos of him making customs with him knowing a lot about the production of these figures and stating a few times that he was a designer, he even made a few upgrade kits while also painting all of the ROTB figures, after that made this big video where he was selling all of them and some parts of his collection, I think the title was “I’m selling my collection” with the thumbnail being the figures and text saying goodbye, as of now he’s deleted most of his videos with them being all of his ROTB stuff and legacy figures, really wish he kept them he gave a lot of info on how to take them apart. Does anyone know anything or am I making a big deal out of nothing ? submitted by nvm_i_guess to transformers [link] [comments]
2023.06.10 19:01 eeeeeu Moradaya Rise
"Immortal Spirits of Fate, you who weave destiny, you who are my greatest muse and have spun countless stories in my ears, do not sit in idle silence toward me now. Sing to me of the birth of the Moradaya who came here from those mountainous lands of yore. May my words be true and my tongue possess the skill to utter the tale you speak into me without fault."
—An invocation to the spirits. Similar words are commonly spoken by storytellers in pursuit of favor from those who dictate the webs of fate. As the cold wind howls through the valleys between that fractured piece of the Alpide belt born of the Paleogene in times long passed and nestled between two seas split by the crushing power of the advancing Arabian plate, a band traveling south and east on the backs of short stocky horses orients themselves against the rising sun hidden behind jagged peaks on the horizon which cut the sky like the serration on teeth of ocean sharks these migrants will never encounter, escape from this desolate winter landscape the one thing on their minds. They are Anyana, Iranic peoples whose ancestors roamed the steppes past the great mountains to the north where their distant cousins still drive livestock across a great sea of grass so wide and expansive it is hard for them to imagine both the land there and here in these claustrophobic ravines and gullies wrought by tectonic chaos belong to the same world. They do.
The Anyana abandoned such a pastoralist way of life when they migrated south along the coast of the Black Sea, known to them as Banga Marea, the Great Sea, which was vaster than any their ancestors before them had ever beheld, and into the lowlands between the Greater and Lesser Caucasus where rivers flow west into that massive body of water and the land is lush and fertile for farming. But this land of plenty where it seems the divines had tried their hand at crafting a paradise was not to be the home of the Moradaya. The Anyana who settled in these lands, which were at that time home to a population of Colchic Proto-Kartvelians, enslaved and intermingled with these local peoples from the coast to as far east as those who later formed the Kingdom of Asmanakashra, but many more of their brethren found no place in the small space of these lowlands, cramped as they were after the arrival of a lurch of people pouring inward as if the levy of the Greater Caucasus which once separated two worlds alien to one another had burst, and instead chose to push onward into the mountains to the south, spreading in all directions and hunting for whatever small abundances might be found in their alpine surroundings.
Massifs rise from underfoot across the plateau of the Armenian Highlands where Anyan has become the dominant culture and language, but divisions have already formed in this people. Wars were fought. Battles raged. Subjugation. The harsh topography of these lands and divisions between those original tribes who made the journey south drive the Anyana apart and erode their united identity like rivers splitting from one source in a delta before rushing out to sea, quickened by the absorption of local people's ways of life in the disparate and nascent polities forming among their culture. Some of the tribes have become wary of one another, others hostile and others more simply apathetic toward the Anyana living elsewhere in the plateau where even a few miles distance divided by a range of peaks can feel a world away.
The tribe Moradaya trace their lineage to a number of deva, beings akin to spirits or gods, the stories of their genesis passed down through the generations by oral recital and never received by the youth in quite the same manner or meaning each telling. Those travelers journeying across the Lesser Caucasus have heard the myths of their tribe’s origins many times, so often each might recite the tales from memory, as they did in the company of one another as solace for their otherwise pitiful position in a false remembrance of their greater past. The content of those myths is for another time than this. Their tribe has yet to find a home where they might permanently achieve peaceability and rest. For years they have searched, living scattered about Anyan lands, but this will soon be no more.
The band of men and women and children with their horses and all the belongings they managed to pack for the journey set their ambitions on the valley where meets a moot of all the Moradaya. For too long they have gone without a chieftain holding any true vision, but with the death of Small Vanga, deva bless his spirit, comes an opportunity to appoint a new ruler, one who might lead them to the home of which they have long dreamt. The winter journey for them has been grueling, but their ways demand a new chieftain be elected as soon as all the clan chiefs are able to convene. In that band marching beneath the slopes and now in the belly of a ravine, scrawny trees twisting and fighting each other for the scant light of the sun that makes it down all the way, Skoda goes with his family and a small number of his most trusted men to represent his clan, the Donsudra, and their wishes at the moot.
All free men are welcome to participate in the moot and the election of a new chieftain, but the clan chiefs are shouldered with the extra responsibilities of negotiating the affair and preventing strife at the results of the tribe’s decision. Skoda’s young age once made other chiefs wary of his abilities to lead, but since then he proved himself to be a skilled warrior and therefore, in their eyes, a leader in his campaigns against the Urartians, the native inhabitants of this alpine plateau, and many favor him to become the new chieftain.
After weeks of travel through winding mountain passes, Skoda and their band reach the banks of Soinya Marea, Lake Sevan, the water frozen therein beginning to thaw as spring emerges. Thin trees with leaves stripped and dead bushes and lichen growing on rocky outcroppings dot the hilly landscape. Smoke rises in the distance. Others from Moradaya had already arrived and created a camp where they weathered the remains of the cold season waiting to elect the new chieftain. Skoda’s band sets up their own tents in the disorganized array of other temporary homes along a network of mud pounded into the ground by feet of people buzzing around the camp. Tired from their journey, he rests.
They are some of the last to arrive, and soon after making their place all the clan chiefs are present on those banks, and the moot is called. They meet at the debouch of a stream snaking down to the idle water along an escarpment and flowing inside, the shallow depths gurgling over a bed of rocks. Men of other kinds have trodden these lands for hundreds of thousands of years since the age of Acheulean stone, and now rills formed in the mud by surface water from the melting snow are trampled underfoot as they gather into a haphazard circle, a little empty space in the center.
Clans Donsudra, Ibera, Kudogre, Paraba, Velun and Festuda all convene here. Besides Skoda, other favorites for chieftain are Oruges, son of the late Small Vanga, and Ekpuda, the wise and elderly leader of the Paraba. The law speaker initiates the day, and the shaman says a prayer and performs a ritual, and the thing begins. Oruges boasts of his own grandeur, standing in the center of the crowd who send cheers and jeers alike his way.
"He should be chieftain!"
"Someone older like Ekpuda ought to be in charge!"
"His father led us to ruin, and he'll do the same!"
They argue for some time with no resolution.
"Quiet, children." Ekpuda waves a single hand in the air, and soon all are silent. "I am too old to lead. That job belongs to those whose lives are still more ahead than behind them."
A murmur grows in the crowd.
"But, I must admit, I doubt Oruges' abilities as a leader, even if I respected his father."
A roar. Everyone was up in arms and yelling.
"I don't see anyone better!"
"Vanga's spawn is too weak!"
"Who else will be chieftain?"
Skoda walks to the center, the walls of which now undulate in the mass of upset bodies. "I will lead us."
After much deliberation and arguing, Skoda is narrowly elected as Moradaya's new chieftain, the first ever from clan Donsudra. He sets his mind on the task of finding his people a land on which they may grow and prosper, and these thoughts occupy every still moment for over a year until an opportunity presents itself.
The Urartian kingdom of Ushnu to the south had fallen into a state of civil war over the rights of inheritance pertaining to their king, and Skoda decides to take the opportunity and strike.
The war effort on part of the Moradaya is successful, and they drive out the rulers of Ushnu, known to them as Ošneš, and take over the land with their armies. They expand east into the territory of tribes Urartian and Iranian alike and settle them as their own.
Ošneš rests west of the endorheic lake of brine, Unya Marea, or Lake Urmia as it might be known to us. Fed by rivers, the lake lets loose none of its water except in evaporation, a draconic beast hoarding its wealth for itself. A place of stagnancy, though much life calls the lands around home. There exist many plots of arable terrain here, and it seems to all Moradaya, Skoda first of all, a good place to settle. To the east of this great salt pond is a river valley sandwiched by mountains north and the stratovolcano which looms over all therein and will soon become a place of great spiritual power south. Here, the Moradaya found a city, that of Majadaragand, the City of the Middle Valley.
For some time, perhaps a century or so, the Moradaya have called these lands home. The Urartians of the old kingdom of Ushnu still do so too, though they are in the process of being subsumed into Anyan ways of life, an integration which lends to the growing distinction between Moradaya and other Anyana. The real history of their conquests merges with legend, birthing new myths among the tribe's members now growing fat off the land. This is how the Moradaya came into their home.

2023.06.10 19:00 phroggies70 My Cdrama Diary (with apologies for length)
1.1.23 Checked MDL this morning. Very Big Name Drama started this morning and has dropped 6 episodes already! AAAAAH! I’ve been waiting on this for over a year! So excited. Off to renew my Tencent subscription…
1.2.23 I’m so invested in Very Big Name Drama!! The leads are perfect for each other! The chemistry is amazing! The mystery surrounding the FL’s parentage and possible connections to the ML’s childhood has me on the edge of my seat! I can hardly think about anything else.
1.3.23 Got an episode or two behind on Very Big Name Drama. Got distracted by Short Republican Era Drama With Dubious Moral Standards. Stayed up half the night binging even though I don’t really respect it, nor myself for watching it. I can barely think about anything else.
1.4.23 Tried to get back into Very Big Name Drama. Honestly, it’s starting to drag. The push and pull between the leads is getting pretty tiresome and I’m watching all the stuff about the second couple on 3x speed.
1.5.23. Oooh, New Xianxia just dropped. I have a bad track record with finishing these, but this time I’m really intrigued—it’s got this actor I really like, the artwork is cool, and every other post on the Reddit sub is about it. I’ll just take a look. Off to renew my Iqiyi membership.. . .
1.6.23 Stayed up half the night binging New Xianxia. I’m so invested in this couple! The tension is killing me! Can’t think about anything else. But no new episodes for two days, so I might as well finish Short Republican Drama with Dubious Moral Standards. I don’t know why I’m watching this.
1.7.23 Finished Short Republican Drama with Dubious Moral Standards. Potentially happy ending somehow miraculously averted at the last minute by an incomprehensible bloodbath, followed by a 1 minute epilogue that shows the leads having some ambiguous encounter 5 years later. I think this is what the Chinese call “philosophical.”
1.8.23 Saw a spoiler today on Reddit about New Xianxia. It has completely taken away any desire whatsoever for me to watch it. Tried to get back into Very Big Name Drama and I just can’t.
1.9.23 Oooh, Very Serious Drama with Real Actors and Meaningful Themes has just dropped! Off to renew my Youku membership. . .
1.10.23 Am inexplicably bored with Very Serious Drama with Real Actors and Meaningful Themes. Fortunately, Cute 16 Episode Rom-Com just dropped. Yay! Off to renew my Mango subscription. . .
1.11.23 Cute 16 Episode Rom-Com is just so darn cute! I love the chemistry between the leads and the way they keep playing around with familiar tropes! Unfortunately, it’s on Mango so I have no idea what’s going on.
1.12.23 Have given up on Mango subs and am trying to watch Cute 16 Episode Rom-Com in the raws. For something so predictable, I’m having to look up a ton of words. But next time there’s a drama about the car design industry, I’m going to be so ready. . .
1.13.23 Stayed up half the night watching 2 episodes of Cute 16 Episode Rom-Com. At some point I realized I had been watching for about 15 minutes with absolutely no comprehension whatsoever. I may have actually been dreaming part of it.
1.14.23 Oh, thank goodness. Viki is finally subbing Cute 16 Episode Rom-Com! Off to renew my Viki subscription. . .
1.15.23 Could Viki take any longer with these dang subs? In the meantime I think I’ll restart Really Promising Drama that I Put on the Back Burner Last Year.
1.16.23 Why did I ever drop Really Promising Drama that I Put on the Back Burner Last Year? It’s so good! I can’t think about anything else.
1.17.23 Really Promising Drama is good, but it’s sooo slow. Cdramas have made so much progress in the past year. But I should really finish it because I’m only about two episodes from the end. Meanwhile, I’m absolutely loving Cute 16 Episode Rom-Com. I mean, the one episode per day Viki is releasing.
1.18.23 Twenty minutes away from the end of Really Promising Drama and I just can’t go on. Loving Cute 16 Episode Rom-Com but the wait is killing me. Maybe I’ll go back and take another look at New Xianxia.
1.19.23 Finished Cute 16 Episode Rom-Com. So good! Can’t seem to get back into New Xianxia. Have checked the new drama listings on MDL about 5 times today and the only Cdramas they have are those Douyin cosplayer 2 minute ones.
1.20.23 There’s absolutely nothing to watch. Maybe I need a new hobby. I was spending too much time online anyway.
1.21.23 Another day with nothing new to watch. Actually had a real phone conversation with my sister! Forgot how funny she is. Finally got the vacuuming done and read a book. Is this what it’s like to have your life back?
1.22.23 Checked the MDL page this morning and AAAAAAHHH! Another Very Big Drama has dropped. I’ve been waiting on this for months! Off to renew my Tencent subscription. . .

2023.06.10 19:00 OpeningOnly Iontophoresis/ Antihydral Works
After reading many of y’all’s stories I realize I’ve been suffering from mild Hyperhidrosis from as early I can remember. To be clear it is palmoplantar and I would just be perpetually sweaty almost ALL THE TIME every day. The only relief I would get would be from very hot enevironments and intense exercise oddly enough and even then once I cooled down I would start cold sweating again. It has held me back tremendously but I see now how many people have it much worse than me as I never dripped sweat but was just damp. Anyways. I pulled the trigger and bought the Dermadry Iontophoresis machine along with 2 tubes of antihydral roughly 14 days ago. LIFE-CHANGING!!!!! I started ionto at 20 ma right off the bat and it was very painful at first as I’m an electrician who works with my hands and have many cuts but I didn’t care if it worked. At the same time I was applying antihydral to my hands and feet every night after doing ionto. Much like others, it was a gradual improvement where I could tell I was getting drier by the day. The fingertips and sides of my hands were the most problematic and took the longest to dry 95% but after 10 days I was just thrilled. You should really give the combination a try as it’s very powerful if you’re consistent. I’m happy to answer any questions Im sure I left out a lot. submitted by OpeningOnly to Hyperhidrosis [link] [comments]

2023.06.10 18:55 ZarthanFire Trip Report - 15 Days in Osaka, Himeji, Nara, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Tokyo, and Fujiyoshida!
This subreddit has been an amazing resource for my solo trip prep over the last few months so now it's my turn to give back. I did not have a set budget in mind since I save diligently for my trips. I am fairly well-traveled, a late 30s, solo traveler. This was my first time in Japan and my goals were a mixture of eating, exploring history, enjoying some theme parks, and enjoying experiences that only Japan could offer.
Total USD Spend: 17 days (2 travel days) came out to about $4200 USD total: * Flight: $1050 * Accommodations: $1400 * Food and Snacks: $1000 * Transportation (IC card, buses, trains): $250 * Theme Park & Novelty Experiences: $400 * Misc (souvenirs, shopping): $200 I typically budget out about $5K USD for my trips and Japan was definitely on the higher side of the budget, but again, I splurged on some fantastic restaurants, premiere entry at Universal Studios Osaka, along with numerous day trips. As others have mentioned here, I also averaged between 25K-30K steps a day. I’m in decent shape but walking 10-15 miles everyday definitely took its toll and my body shut down for a day.
Day 0: Landed in Osaka in the late afternoon and ended up wandering Dotonbori for a few hours since my hotel was located a block away. Ended up eating some very mediocre ramen at a stand in Dotonbori which was pretty disappointing, but the carbs were enough to knock me out. Day 1: Woke up early to walk around Dontobori at 5am and then headed out to few unique temples, including Namba Yasaka Jinja. Hopped onto the subway to enter Ueno Sky Tower, and overall, it was meh, I didn’t stay long just taking a few pictures and walked around Ueno for a few hours before heading to the Pokemon Cafe in Shinsaibashi. As others have noted, the food was very mediocre, but it was a fun experience nonetheless. Spent the rest of the evening getting drinks in Dotonbori before calling it a night.
Day 2: A full day at Universal Studios Japan to experience Super Nintendo World. I splurged on the express passes that gave me full access to a bunch of rides. SNW is pretty fucking awesome and I had a blast riding the Yoshi and Mario Kart rides, all the while taking taking in the atmosphere. The premiere pass also gave me access to a few additional rides including Harry Potter, Doraemon VR, and Jurassic Park. Had a late dinner at Kyushu Ramen getting their famous chashu ramen and it did not disappoint.
Day 3: Spent most of the day exploring Kuromon Ichiba Market, the local malls, and Dotonbori trying some street food. Went back to my hotel room and just relaxed for the rest of the day since jet lag was still bothering me. Watched some sumo matches on random Japanese tv before calling it a night.
Day 4: Took a day trip to Himeji to see the Himeji Castle. What a fantastic piece of history! I spent hours just taking in the sites and the nearby garden also highly recommended. Afterward, I had my first taste of Kobe beef in the form of a beef bowl at Kushiyaki Kobe Beef. Fantastic little hole-in-the-wall place with some really nice people working the counter. Took the train from Himeji directly to Nara where I was planning to stay the night. Day 5: Spent the entire day playing with the thousands of deer and checking out some local temples, including Todai-ji. I didn't do anything in Nara that hadn't been mentioned enough times here, but as others have said, a day trip or one day is more than enough time in the area. Took a late train to Kyoto. Day 6: Woke up in the early morning to beat the crowds to enjoy Fushimi Inari. Hiked the entire loop (about 2-3 hours) with only a fraction of the crowds, enjoyed some macha soft serve at the peak of the hill, and took my time going back down right rwhen the army of tourists and tour groups arrived. Grabbed an overly expensive Kobe beef stick from one of the food stalls by the temple gates and then spent an hour at a cute coffee shop called Rickshaw Cafe just people watching before grabbing an early dinner at Ramen Sen-no-Kaze. The food was solid, but it took 90 minutes to get a table. Not worth it and in hindsight I would have left.
Day 7: Woke up early again to check out the highly overrated Arashimyama bamboo forest. It was pretty underwhelming, but I did get a few nice photos before the crowds arrived. Strolled through the park and really enjoyed walking along the Katsura River seeing the catfish waiting to be fed and seeing the fishing boats tied up. A very tranquil place. After the nice long stroll, I walked back-and-forth the Togetsukyo Bridge and Kimono Forest (meh). The highlight of the morning was really Tenryu-Ji and the amazing zen garden. After a few hours taking in the peacefulness and silence, took the city bus to Kinkaku-ji, and the crowds were in full swing. Still totally worth seeing in person although it didn’t last very long. Day 8: A full day experiencing the Philosopher’s Path on a gorgeous sunny day. Too sunny since I got some pretty bad sunburns! I visited too many amazing temples, including Kiyomizo-dera, along with old Gion, although I thought the area was bit overhyped. I preferred the smaller, more peaceful temples away from the mass of tourists. Some of my favorites during my day exploring old Kyoto included Eikan-do, a more secluded temple up in the hills, Nanzen-Ji, with its beautiful aqueduct, and just walking the streets aimlessly for a few hours. Went to Nishiki Market and ate some amazing oysters at Daiyasu. If you love oysters, this is the spot to try it! Spent too much money on oysters and decided to go cheap and ate at Kura Sushi. The food was mediocre by Japanese standards, but blows away the quality and cost of the Kura Sushi restaurants in my hometown of Los Angeles.
Day 9: Took an early morning train to Kanazawa. Enjoyed my first ekiben while taking in the sights from the comfort of the Thunderbird Limited Express. Spent the rest of the day visiting the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art (meh) and Kenrou-ken, probably the most beautiful garden in the Kanda province. Wrapped up the day by visiting the D.T Suzuki Museum and wow, the tranquil pool area was amazing. Do yourself a favor and stand on the corner and just stare at the water. You’ll feel like the entire world is moving along on a plane and you’re the one that is frozen in place. It was pretty trippy. Ate well at Mori More Sushi Omicho and stopped by the Pokemon Center to pick up the exclusive Pikachu Kimono figure only available in the Kanazawa store.
Day 10: Torrential rain the entire day but I powered throughit with my trusty umbrella. Enjoyed breakfast and snacks at the Omicho Market, enjoying a tuna-don at one of the stalls, fresh uni, and more oysters. Not cheap but fresh! Walked around the Higashi Chaya District, doing a bit of window shopping and ate some gold leaf macha soft serve at Kaikaro, spending more time people watching. Walked around the Kanazawa Castle Park in all its empty glory as well as the Oyama Shrine. The castle was pretty underwhelming esp. after seeing Himeji so I probably would have skipped it in hindsight. Wrapped up the day visiting the Naga-machi District, probably my favorite part of Kanazawa. Had more sushi at Sushi Rekireki Omicho, an enjoyable omakase.
Day 11: Took the Shinkansen to Tokyo eating the most expensive ekiban I could find, and spent the rest of the entire day in Asakusa in Tokyo. Walked around Senso-ji, had a few beers in Hoppy Street, and finally tried Ichiran. Called it an early day since I would be doing DisneySea in the early morning.
Day 12: Took the express bus from Tokyo Skytree to DisneySea. Thanks to the early forecast of rain, the park was barely 50% full? The longest wait for most rides was under 20 minutes so I was lucky enough to ride everything at least once. My meals consisted of a bunch of unique Dsney parki food: gyoza hot dogs, alien mochi, Mike watermelon bread, etc. Stayed until the fireworks and went straight back to the hotel and crashed. That was a 40K step day!
Day 13: Visited Akihabara, spending way too much money on crane games, browsing retro games, and looking at figures. Headed to Shibuya to eat breakfast for lunch at A Happy Pancake (meh). Went to the Nintendo Store in the PARCO mall, only to be disappointed to find out that all of the Nintendo World store t-shirts were sold out. Actually everything semi-interesting was sold out. Went up to Shibuya Sky to watch the sunset, spending a few hours just watching the day slowly turn into night. Did the Scramble a few times and then headed to Shinjuku where I’d be located for the last few days.
Day 14: Another torrential rainstorm sadly ruined my plans of visiting Shinjuku Gyoen, Meiji Jingo, and Harajuku. Maybe next time. I was hoping to buy Tokyo Giants tickets but they were all sold out so I ended up going to the Tokyo National Museum. I won’t lie, I was pretty bored, and in hindsight I wish I went to the neighboring National Museum of Nature and Science instead. After strolling Ueno Park in the rain, I was craving tonkatsu and googled Tonkatsu Yamabe. Good decision as it was the best tonkatsu I had in Tokyo. Went to a nearby Taito Game Station wasting more money on crane games before heading back to Shinjuku. The area is insane and in hindsight, I would probably pick somewhere like Shibuya or Ueno, somewhere slightly more chill. Day 15: One of my favorite days in Tokyo! Teamlabs Planets lives up to the hype but ONLY if you can get first admission at 9am. It was glorious to be among the first people in the exhibits as I could take in experience the way it was intended. There were only a few people in each room giving each space such a great, peaceful, and chill vibe. Headed to Ginza to the Michelin-rated Sushi Toyama, where I had a chance to finally experience bluefin toro (worth it!). Probably the most expensive lunch ever but it was quite the experience. A sunny and beautiful day, I bought a bunch of souvenirs and clothes (a 12-story Uniqlo with its own coffee shop, Muji Ginza, Ginza Six), checked out my favorite Toy Story in Japan, Hakuhinkan Toy Park, intricate stationary stores like Itoya, and went to a very popular Ginza Starbucks to people watch. Spent the evening in Shinjuku exploring Golden Gai getting swarmed by Nigerian dudes. Wanted to try a hole-in-wall ramen spot in the area but the line was stupid long so I ended up just going to Kyushu Ramen and was satisfied enough. A good day.
Day 16: With the break in clouds the day before, I decided to call an audible and set up a last minute day trip to Mount Fuji. Took an express bus from Shinjuku to Fushiyoshida and got dropped off in front of Chureito Pagoda. It was cloudy for most of the day, but for the last several hours I saw Mount Fuji in all its glory. It was a gray day but no complaints — it was nice to cross another bucket list item from the list.
Wow, this was much longer than I anticipated. Well if you got this far, feel free to ask any questions! In the meantime, I'll be planning my next trip to Japan soon!

2023.06.10 18:55 SheTheyGay How to clean/deodorize drop ceiling tiles?
I’m 6 months into a 2 year lease and my apartment has a really stubborn smell. It’s a combination of musty/old (building was built in 1920) and cigarettes from the previous tenant. I’ve already wiped down all of the walls and got permission to paint (haven’t done it yet though). I got the carpet professionally cleaned and paid for an ozone deodorizing treatment. I have also done several rounds of baking soda on the carpet (let sit for days then vacuumed up each time). I’ve sprayed Zep for smoke odors a bunch of times. I keep the windows open as much as the weather permits. The smell is way better than it was when I first moved in, but still quite noticeable and clings to my clothes and bags when I’m out of the apartment. I’m not sure what else to do. The only remaining area that could be holding smell that I haven’t cleaned yet is the ceiling tiles (see photo). This used to be an office building so it has those crappy drop ceiling tiles that seem very difficult to clean. Any tips much appreciated. submitted by SheTheyGay to CleaningTips [link] [comments]
2023.06.10 18:54 HSRiddles Home Run Parlay 6/10/20233
Hi all,
I've seen some 3 leg homer parlays being posted here every so often, and have been trying to hit them in my community as well for awhile - so figured I'd also share mine.
The Parlay: Fernando Tatis Jr. (SD Padres) +205 Jorge Soler (Marlins) +300 Rowdy Tellez (Brewers) +450
+6610 (0.1U) Reasoning:
- Fernando Tatis Jr. - Hitting in Coors Field with optimal weather, expected ballpark factor increase of 24% home runs. - Rockies are running Kyle Freeland on the mound, who currently gives up 0.17 home runs per inning, the 7th most in the league. - Tatis has been hot lately, with 8 homers in the last 30 days, and 3 in the last 7 days, including one last night. - Tatis is a right handed hitter, and hits left handers, like Freeland, very hard. - Currently Tatis is ranked 17th in the league, with a homer per 15 at bats.
- Jorge Soler - Per ballpark factors, weather in Chicago is optimal for homeruns, with an expected 15% increase in homers. - Guaranteed Rate Field has the 4th highest home runs hit this year with 112 - The White Sox are starting Michael Kopache who currently ranks 4th in homers given up per inning at 0.22. - Soler is currently ranked 7th in at bats per home run with 13.1 with 8 homers in 90 at bats. - He's been a bit cold lately, but this is a great spot for him to bounce back
- Rowdy Tellez - Weather in Milwaukee is expected to increase homers by 17%. - American Family field is currently ranked 5th in home runs this year with 112 (tied with Coors) - The Athletics are starting Paul Blackburn who throws mostly sinkers and fastballs, both of which are fast pitches that come off the bat hard if hit. - Rowdy Tellez currently ranks 22nd in the league with 16.2 at bats per home run. - Rowdy is also a left handed batter up against a righty, which is optimal for hitting homers off Paul.
Statistically these hitting are pretty rare, but I've done well round robin'ing all 3 in 2 leggers with 0.1U each.
BOL!

2023.06.10 18:54 ipostfigs Lost a queen this morning
Partner caught this hive throwing their queen over the edge this morning. She is super dead. They were a wild swarm that moved in last year and in March were our strongest (but most aggressive) hive, but they have been struggling for a while now. They would not stop swarming and were briefly queenless. I messed up formic pro treatment - it was too hot at 95 degrees, and I should have done the 20 day treatment option instead of 14. Live and learn I guess. 😔 Gave them a frame of eggs from one of our better hives and will check back again! submitted by ipostfigs to Beekeeping [link] [comments]
2023.06.10 18:52 Loose_Call_4228 Potential alienation
Wife and I are going through a separation. We live less than 0.5 mile apart and I have actively wanted to continue to see my kids, talk to them and spend time with them. I have daughters who are 10 and 7. Over the past 6 weeks we had agreed an informal arrangement of 6 days out of 14 with me and the girls were adapting.
They have been hurt by our separation, and over the last 2 weeks my eldest has stopped wanting to see me. I know she needs space l just want to be able to help her.
However, belief as to why parental alienation might be at play by my wife comes down to.
- Verbally abuses me in front of them, telling me she wishes I would die, etc
- Refuses to allow me to talk on the phone to them so if they are away on holiday I can’t see how they are
- Removes the agreed schedule and tells me I have to go to court to gain access - which goes against advice given that you should not cease access if that is what they feel
- Stops me from seeing my youngest who is happy to see me, because her sister is struggling
- Allows the girls to stay at mine and start adapting which helps them adapt to then cruelly take it away again
- Continually asks my eldest if she wants to see me, thus giving her the power to decide
- Bad mouths me in front of the girls, telling them she hates me and doesn’t want to see me, but refuses to see the correlation
Any thoughts or advice? I now no longer know when I will see them.

Proverbs 22:1 AMPC The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong. Proverbs 18:10 AMPC If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 AMPC Then Jesus prayed, ...Holy Father, keep in Your Name [in the knowledge of Yourself] those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We [are one]. While I was with them, I kept and preserved them in Your Name [in the knowledge and worship of You]. Those You have given Me I guarded and protected, and not one of them has perished or is lost except the son of perdition [Judas Iscariot–the one who is now doomed to destruction, destined to be lost], that the Scripture might be fulfilled. [Ps. 41:9; John 6:70.] John 17:11-12 AMPC Happy and blessed are the people who are in such a case; yes, happy (blessed, fortunate, prosperous, to be envied) are the people whose God is the Lord! Psalm 144:15 AMPC O Lord, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, for You have done wonderful things, even purposes planned of old [and fulfilled] in faithfulness and truth. Therefore [many] a strong people will glorify You, [many] a city of terrible and ruthless nations will [reverently] fear You. For You have been a stronghold for the poor, a stronghold for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the blast of the ruthless ones is like a rainstorm against a wall. As the heat in a dry land [is reduced by the shadow of a cloud, so] You will bring down the noise of aliens [exultant over their enemies]; and as the heat is brought low by the shadow of a cloud, so the song of the ruthless ones is brought low. And on this Mount [Zion] shall the Lord of hosts make for all peoples a feast of rich things [symbolic of His coronation festival inaugurating the reign of the Lord on earth, in the wake of a background of gloom, judgment, and terror], a feast of wines on the lees–of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. (For) He (has) destroy(ed) on this mountain the covering of the face that is cast over the heads of all peoples [in mourning], and the veil [of profound wretchedness] that is woven and spread over all nations. He ...swallow(ed) up death [in victory; He will abolish death forever]. And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; and the reproach of His people He will take away from off all the earth; for the Lord has spoken it. [I Cor. 15:26, 54; II Tim. 1:10.] It shall be said in that day, Behold our God upon Whom we have waited and hoped, that He might save us! This is the Lord, we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation. Isaiah 25:1, 3-9 AMPC Therefore ...whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus and in [dependence upon] His Person, giving praise to God the Father through Him. 2023.06.10 18:50 svogon How to filter this attribute from NWS integration
Hey all... I'm using the National Weather Service integration and the forecast attribute has some extra bits that screw it up. I want to filter them out, perhaps with a template sensor. It looks like this:
forecast: - detailed_description: >- Isolated rain showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 72. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. New rainfall amounts less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Since it is the daynight forecast there are several objects with detailed descriptions under forecast, but I only care about the first one. So, that and filtering out the "- detailed_description: >-" unless I'm missing something about pulling multiple objects out of an attribute.

2023.06.10 18:50 FutureCritterDr Crushed from low fertilization rate
I would like to hear some stories from the community, to both commiserate and for some hope.
I am 39F, my husband is 38M. I just went through my first full cycle (my first one was cancelled days before egg retrieval due to an unrelated medical issue -- also very disappointing). All testing looked great, eggs were maturing well. They estimated 14 mature follicles prior to retrieval. To our surprise, 27 eggs were retrieved, and 23 of them looked mature! I was so happy and hopeful we would end up with at least a few embryos.
Things have snowballed downhill from there... only 3 were fertilized by the next day, and I was having horrible debilitating pain & bloating from the retrieval for multiple days afterwards. I had to leave work for a couple of days because I couldn't walk, and I work in a job where it is a huge problem if I call out sick.
We just got the day 5 report, and only one made it to blastocyst. A 3.7% success rate -- almost a total cycle failure. Now I am filled with depression at the chances this single embryo will be genetically normal at my age.
I've also felt we have not received good information from our team so far -- the lab report this morning was a canned response email saying "one embryo was frozen." No other details about the points of failure, or embryo grading, or possible explanations. My doctor is incredibly hard to get in touch with, so I don't even feel like I have an avenue to have a conversation -- not sure if this is others' experience as well. It's adding to the stress and frustration.
Tl;Dr: Very hopeful and encouraging results for the first part of the cycle were followed by major disappointments. Looking for success stories and/or similar sadness to share.

2023.06.10 18:49 jasonmonocle Do I need to see a doctor if I’ve had a nosebleed every day for the past week and a half?
I’m 18M and like the title says, I’ve been having frequent nosebleeds recently. It began around the end of may/start of June, when I got a random nosebleed one morning. I didn’t pay it any mind because I get the occasional nosebleed every four or five months. But then I had another nosebleed the next day. Then the next day. Then two the day after that. In the past 11 days, I’ve had 14 nosebleeds. I made this post because the past two days I didn’t have a nosebleed, and I thought it was due to the new nasal spray I tried using. But then shortly after I woke up today my nose started gushing blood. It took a few minutes to fully stop. Then three hours later my nose started gushing again….
Should I be worried? I tried taking allergy pills and using nasal spray, but they obviously didn’t help. I haven’t told anyone or seen a doctor because a nosebleed doesn’t seem serious. But could it be? Should I see a doctor?

2023.06.10 18:49 Advicey009 Nmum wants relationship with grandkid
Growing up my mother was so physically and verbally abusive to me I had a nervous breakdown at 13 and had to go live with my grandparents.
In my late teens my mother's health deteriorated and I tried to rebuild a relationship. For years our adult relationship consisted to verbal abuse, guilt tripping, gaslighting and boundary stopping.
I eventually realised thanks to therapy my mother would never change her behaviour. She is and probably always will insistent on blaming everyone else around her for her mistakes. I was a "problem child" and a "wicked daughter", my grandparents "stole" me.
Anyway I went no contact 18 months ago and though I feel guilty at first, therapy helped me work through the process of cutting her off.
Now DH and I are expecting our first kid. I'm 14 weeks and my brother told her I was expecting (which I told him was fine to do as we've now shared news on social media).
I just received this text from her after over a year of radio silence:
- your brother told me your pregnant. Will I get to see my grandkids?
After several missed calls from her I replied along the lines:
- Hi mum. Hope you're doing well. I'm having a very difficult pregnancy with morning sickness and as you'd imagine my hormones are all over the place. I'm not in a headspace right now to consider how our relationship will go forward in the future. I've been in therapy on and off reflecting and healing the past 18 months and I've finally found inner peace and happiness. I'm reluctant to compromise that right now, especially whilst starting a new chapter as a parent.
Her response:
Well, you can't stop me from seeing my grandchild. How can you be so cruel to me?
She's been blowing up my phone and DHs phone for days. Any advice on how to deal?
