VR Settings Help (Quest 2)
2023.06.10 23:40 LH_Suzuki VR Settings Help (Quest 2)
| I have an i7-7700k and an RX6600, 32 GB of RAM - I know I should be getting good enough performance in iRacing VR, and the sim runs smoothly at 90 Hz with 1.7x on the quest software (I've tried to keep a lot of settings low for now to get it how I want before I bump anything up). I've used the iRacing VR guides extensively, countless youtube videos etc. but the one thing I CANNOT get rid of is the "heat haze" effect that seems to exist on the fences/grass banks/horizon/the upcoming corner at the end of the straight. I'm using openXR and most guides I see seem to emphasize sharpness so I've got that at 100% with the resolution in openXR to 50%. I also saw a guide say that the sharpening clamp being too far can make the horizon jagged so I reduced that but no difference. I'm really not sure what is causing it. I'd be grateful if anyone can help - I can provide more info. as required but have also put in my .ini settings and my oculus debugger settings. I am also unsure on my AMD software settings but I can't really post those. https://preview.redd.it/ugbdzqwdf95b1.png?width=489&format=png&auto=webp&s=22cd70034a7adf21e010f11000c7dd02536d0ffe [Drive Screen] UIOffsetBottomPct=0 ; Shift bottom of UI up by specified percent VirtualMirrorSize=1 ; Size of virtual mirror, 0-large, 1-med, 2-small, 3-X-small, 4-XX-small [User Options] DriveUIFullScreen=0 ; Let triple headed driving UI expand to fill full display DriveUIMaxAspectRatio=1.800 ; Adjust driving UI maximum aspect ratio up or down DriveUITransparency=1.000 ; Adjust driving UI transparency up or down forceCrowdVisible=0 ; Force the crowd in the grandstand to show up on practice/qualify sessions ForceVisibleWhenMove=0 ; Force all movable controls to become visible when moving UI elements hideCarNum=0 ; Hide car numbers/decals in test sessions, so you can paint your own versions KeepUIHiddenOnFocus=0 ; If set to 1 then the UI can only be enabled with the space bar maxParticleThreads=6 ; #workers (0 to 6) NotifyOfDirtRequirements=1 ; Should the Session screen notify about too-low graphics settings? particleThreadPriorityAdjust=0 ; belowNormal=-1 normal=0 aboveNormal=1 reduceFramerate_WhenFocusLost=0 ; Set this to 0 to hold full framerate when another program has keyboard focus SessionUIFullScreen=0 ; Let triple headed session UI expand to fill full display SessionUIMaxAspectRatio=1.800 ; Adjust session UI maximum aspect ratio up or down SessionUITransparency=1.000 ; Adjust session UI transparency up or down [Display] border=1 ; window border? deviceIdx=0 ; which adapter displayRotateMode=1 ; 0-auto, 1-landscale, 2-landscape inv, 3-portrait, 4-portrait inv fullScreen=0 ; fullscreen? fullScreenDepth=32 ; Color depth fullScreenHeight=720 ; full screen Window's height fullScreenWidth=1024 ; full screen Window's width HDRFormat=0 ; 0=8 bit color (SDR) 1=HDR10 or HDR16F (depends on fullScreenDepth 32/64 bit) ModeScaling=0 ; 0=unspecified 1=centered 2=stretched pixelRatio=1.000 ; Full screen mode - Adjust for displays with non-square pixels pixelRatioWindowed=1.000 ; Windowed mode - Adjust for displays with non-square pixels RefreshRate=0.000 ; Refresh Rate windowedAlignment=0 ; windowed mode alignment: 0 - none, 1 - center, 2 - top left windowedHeight=720 ; windowed mode height windowedMaximized=0 ; Window is maximized in windowed mode windowedWidth=1024 ; windowed mode width windowedXPos=106 ; Window top left corner in windowed mode windowedYPos=99 ; Window top left corner in windowed mode [AutoCfg] AutoCfgCompleted=1 ; 0=need to run 3D autocfg at startup Version=1 ; Version of this file [Graphics Options] AllowTSOSelfShadows=1 ; 0=off, 1=more self-shadowing objects when shadow mapping DNSMFilter=2 ; 0= none 1= Fetch4 2= PCF4 3= PCF4P 4= PCF8P 5= PCF16P DNSMShadowFadeTime=25 ; 0 to # = time to fade in night shadows in 100ths of a sec (5 default) DNSMNumLights=1 ; 0 to 128 = Max number of shadow mapped lights at night DNSMWallsCastShadows=0 ; 0= off 1=track walls cast shadows DNSMTSOsCastShadows=0 ; 0= off 1=track objects cast shadows DNSMDownsampleFirst=0 ; 0=per-AA-sample shadows 1=per-pixel shadow DNSMEnable=0 ; 0=off 1=dynamic night shadow maps AutoExposure=1 ; 0=off, 1=on (only functions when HDR is also enabled) Reflections=0 ; 0=off, 1=render higher quality reflections TwoPassTrees=0 ; 0=off, 1=render trees with higher quality in two passes NumFixedCubemaps=0 ; number of fixed cubemaps to render per frame(100 = 1/frame) NumDynamicCubemaps=0 ; number of dynamic cubemaps to render per frame(100 = 1/frame) ReplayRenderModes=0 ; 0=off, 1=Replay Render Modes enabled Distortion=0 ; 0=off, 1=Distortion enabled SharpeningClamp=9 ; sharpening clamp (0=min, 10=default, 100=max) SharpeningAmount=125 ; sharpening strength (10=min, 125=default, 300=max) SMAA=0 ; 0=off, 1=Subpixel Morphological Antialiasing enabled FXAAQualityEdgeThreshold=166 ; 333=too little(fast),250=lowqual,166=default,125=highqual,63=overkill(slow) FXAAQualitySubPix=75 ; aliasing amt (100=soft,75=default,50=sharp,25=low,0=0ff) FXAA=0 ; 0=off, 1=FXAA enabled Sharpening=1 ; 0=off, 1=sharpening enabled SSAO=0 ; 0=off, 1=screen space ambient occlusion enabled MotionBlurBroadcastCams=1 ; 0=disabled, 1=enabled MotionBlurDrivingCams=1 ; 0=disabled, 1=enabled MotionBlurStrength=0 ; motion blur strength: 0=off, 1=low, 2=med, 3=high, 4=ultra HeatHaze=0 ; 0=off, 1=heat haze enabled DepthOfField=0 ; 0=off, 1=depth of field blurs enabled ShadowMapType=0 ; map onto: 0=off, 1=on (Turn on on for clouds/overcast to work best) DynamicShadowMaps=0 ; 0=off 1=dynamic shadow maps for cars, etc. (Day only!) They teased us a little bit with the MG6 liftback (launched in 2019), but thankfully, they are upping the marque’s sportiness with the introduction of the second-generation MG GT sports sedan. Its nose has a proper scowl, which makes it look like it is impatiently waiting for the light to turn green and dash away. It was thoughtful of MG to put holes for the vehicle plate screws below the 3D digital flaming grille (so onlookers can see its full form), and the extra black molding that extends into these large air vents is a nice touch that gives it a one-of-a-kind front fascia. The side showcases its very nice 17-inch two-tone Tomahawk alloy wheels, a couple of sharp character lines that highlight the shapely fenders, and a chrome trim that traces the daylight opening and emphasizes the slope that gives it a fastback form. LED bulbs are standard on the intelligent headlights and 3D racetrack taillights. It also has a couple of elements that reduce drag and increase aerodynamic efficiency, a front (carbon fiber-style) and rear (ducktail) spoiler. It looks every bit the part of a sports sedan from the front, but I have a few suggestions. A lower stance would be better, which means reduced ground clearance. On top of that, a sleeker roof would make it look sexier and give it better stability, and a larger rear glass should elicit an illusion of a wider body (when viewed from the rear). Lastly, drop the faux twin exhaust because it looks pretty obvious. MG brags that it has a fighter jet-inspired cockpit. I have never been in a fighter jet as the closest I have been was while watching ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ so I’ll take their word for it. The dashboard is sleek, with switches that are just the right size to match the cockpit design. The plastic surface could be better, but the diamond-design accent that runs along the middle gives it a certain level of sophistication. The matching slim infotainment system is laid out horizontally and sits on top of a silver ledge with toggles to switch between the different menus of the 10-inch floating monitor. Designers gave the layout some thought to ensure every detail matches the image they have of the GT. I single out the instrument cluster because of its different look and feel. I get a Chevy (think Spark) or a moto vibe from it, even if it sports a 12.3-inch virtual display with a digital speedometer and tachometer. The unique thing about it is the red linear gauges on either side that goes up and down depending on the speed and RPM. Each front seat has bolsters for a snug fit, which is why it appears small at first. It cradles the torso very well, which helps keep the body in place during aggressive driving, but I wish the seat bottoms were just a bit longer for more thigh support. It has leather upholstery, red stitching, and quilting on the backrest. There are two USB ports in front, one for charging and the other for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It also has Bluetooth audio streaming. The third USB port is at the back, beside the rear air vents. The flat-bottom multi-function leather steering wheel feels great. It is just the right size and enhances the vehicle’s sporty personality. It has tilt adjustment but does not have telescopic features. Behind it are the paddle shifters and three stalks that include cruise controls. I like its current interior equipment and the power sunroof is not a regular sight in the segment; that gives it a leg up over the competition. More premium cabin materials would be better, and throw in more padded surfaces too. The six-speaker system sounds good, but maybe too good in some parts because I can feel the vibration of the panels from the door speaker when I turn up the volume. What is impressive about this vehicle is its small displacement 1.5-liter turbocharged gas engine that makes 161 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Drive goes to the wheels via a seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox. Throttle response is drive mode dependent. Normal is the default mode, and it feels pretty mild-mannered. The vehicle’s weight is more palpable as it rises steadily to the desired speed. Switching modes was a little tricky as there was a button on the center stack. The paddle shifter also did not have an effect. Only when I toggled the gear shifter back did it shift to Sport, and vice versa. Acceleration is slightly more abrupt, but I love the sound it makes. Instead of the typical rumble, which you will not get anyway because it only has four cylinders, there is a thrilling throttling-up sound that rises in the cabin the faster I went. Handling is not too light, but despite its good power-to-weight ratio, it is not as agile. That is partly due to soft suspension and high ground clearance. Its height raises the center of gravity which -together with the ride height- is why there is a significant amount of body roll when cornering. If you want to sort that out, get a new set of coilover suspensions or a lowering kit (if there are any available). But there is a benefit to keeping it suspension setup stock. This soft type has more comfort versus rigid setups that offer sporty handling. It keeps road harshness levels down, and unless you plan to drive it aggressively, there is no need to modify it. It has a forward collision warning and lane departure warning, but my favorite is the 360-degree vehicle view camera. It shows the vehicle's position relative to external obstacles, while the forward camera lets me park face-front as close to the wall as possible. If you plan to take it for a weekend trip, the trunk space is 40 inches long and 53 inches wide. It looks big enough to store a couple of check-in luggage and several overnight bags. At PHP 1,193,888, the 2023 MG GT Sport TST certainly has qualities befitting a compact sports sedan. It may not corner like the Civic RS but its higher torque lets it take off with a bit more bravado. This second-generation model is already on the right track with its powertrain. A few more updates in the MG GT and it can give the segment a run for its money. Source: autoindustriya submitted by khoafraelich789 to CarInformationNews [link] [comments] |
2023.06.10 23:22 fulminic UFO lore and recent revelations seem to be largely based on a 1998 story from UFO mag. It covers crash retrieval programs, various alien types, "biological robots," and project Zodiac. Puthoff and Kitt Green have referenced this story. Here's a text extract.
Edit; title better should have said "aligned with" instead of "based on"
Deep Files: Trans-"X"Communiqué: Letter to a UFO Recruit by Greg Halifax What you're about to read is largely unverified. But that doesn't mean it's not true. It's the type of UFO information that would typically be deeply buried, then carefully studied and compartmentalized by a small faction within the intelligence community, as suits any sensitive black operation. As such, straightforward corroboration is difficult at best. But UFO Magazine has the advantage of more than a decade's worth of collected bits of information and broad-based facts on which to construct some fair extrapolations. Drawn from a range of sources, the following incident reflects upon one of the blackest of American covert operations that deal directly with the UFO phenomenon.
Recruitment and Background They recruited him when he was fresh from a not-too-harrowing assignment in the Middle East. This was one area of the globe, at least, where the CIA had little trouble justifying its existence. Having some military background, Sedge Masters wasn't too surprised when he was called back for another briefing about the new foreign technology assignment overseen from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. What he'd heard at the first briefing didn't exactly fire his professional instincts. The task sounded less than challenging. He was assured that more information would be coming his way, and that much of it would change his mind about the degree of intrigue his new assignment would hold.
Induction into the Program Clearances intact, Masters arrived on the base in short order. He was issued a security badge and escorted by an airman to an unmarked building. Once inside, he was escorted by the airman into a room where his security badge was taken from him and a different one given to him in its place. A different airman with a uniform that Masters had not seen before, armed with an M-16 and a sidearm, escorted him into a private room. That man left, and in less than two minutes, another armed and uniformed man entered. He said nothing: Masters was used to this routine. When the soldier had positioned himself in front of the door, Masters turned around to a table on which lay a thick packet of papers. One more glance at the impassive soldier, and Masters began to read.
Introduction Letter The letter on top carried a number on the first page, but no date or letterhead. "Dear Mr. Masters," it began, "Consider this a deeper introduction to your present assignment. As you were told in last week's special briefing, you were selected for the program less for your wide intelligence background and technical skills than for the results of your psychological profile, both the one you took when you first joined the agency and the one administered earlier this year..."
Pre-WWII Sightings and Post-War Investigations During the years preceding World War II, informal contacts made by Americans touring in Europe - tasked to do so by then-attorney William Donovan (who was later the head of the OSS in World War II) - revealed that there had been a number of sightings of unusual aerial phenomena and craft over European skies, particularly in the vicinity of German military facilities. The rush of events focused the attention of the military and the OSS on other matters of more pressing concern, although it had been resolved to look into these reports again at the war's conclusion.
The Roswell Incident Before there could be a full assessment of the implications of these events, in July 1947, two crafts were recovered from the desert near the Roswell Army Air Corps bomber base. One of the crafts was a deltoid wing "lifting body" which had suffered a rupture to the crew compartment and some impact distortion, but which was otherwise intact. The other craft had completely disintegrated either before or upon impact.
Hypotheses and Discoveries Although there were working hypotheses that these crafts were either (1) secret Soviet surveillance craft designed to spy upon the many advanced technical and military facilities in that region, (2) crafts from some "other dimension" the details of which were and remain unspecified by the proponents of this hypothesis, or (3) crafts from our own future exploring the past through an unknown temporal travel mechanism, it soon became clear that these crafts were from some planet or solar system other than our own, as they were occupied by two kinds of beings which clearly were not of earthly origin.
Extraterrestrial Evidence The occupants of the deltoid craft were largely intact after the crash. When the special recovery team established for this purpose located the crash, two of the occupants of the deltoid craft were still alive, although one was badly injured and would later die upon being taken to the Roswell Air Corps base. The other survivor was alive and remained so for almost 30 days after the crash. It was able to walk and seemed to understand that it was a captive among intelligent beings like itself. All efforts at communication with the survivor were inconclusive and largely unsuccessful. The three other occupants were dead when the recovery team found them. The general appearance of these creatures was as reported in the recently published, somewhat fanciful 'investigative' books on the subject which have received a certain amount of popular acceptance and which resulted in the recent 50th-anniversary celebration of this event. (Popular attention to this event remains strong.)
Second Craft and Biological Robots The occupants of the second craft were not found for several more days, as their bodies had been ejected in what appeared to be safety pods similar in purpose to those later employed in such high-performance aircraft as the B-58 Hustler and XB-70 supersonic bombers. These creatures were longer in dimension than the ones of the deltoid craft, and their bodies were dispersed over a much wider area due to the disintegration of their craft. All were dead when found, with their bodies much deteriorated from prolonged exposure to the elements and some having been partially eaten by coyotes and other creatures, all of the latter of which were found dead near the alien corpses.
Analysis of the animal remains and the alien bodies led to the conclusion that the animals died from poisoning caused by ingestion of chemicals in the alien flesh. It appeared that the second group of aliens could not survive if exposed to the Earth's atmosphere. The need to remove all evidence of the event from the two crash sites limited the amount of crash reconstruction which could be accomplished by the recovery team, with the consequence that it has never been made clear what exactly caused the crash.
Cover-Up and Suppression Unfortunately, the large number of civilian and military personnel who witnessed physical evidence at the crash sites and back at the Roswell base created a significant security hazard which was dealt with by intimidation and bribery of the witnesses to the extent that those means proved effective. Until unofficial investigators, journalists, writers, and others began renewing investigation of the subject in the early 1980s, these techniques were largely successful in keeping the truth of the Roswell event from the public, as well as its ominous implications.
Alien Autopsies and 'Biological Robots' The autopsies on the bodies of the creatures showed that they were of very light build and clearly not from this planet. The simplicity of their brain structures and non-communication in the face of stalwart efforts by researchers led investigators at the time to conclude that they were not the original designers and builders of the craft involved in the incident. Rather, it seemed that they were 'biological robots,' designed and bred for the purpose of undertaking such dangerous missions as flying through the atmosphere of an alien world. The survivor finally died when its body accumulated toxic waste products from its metabolism. There were no apparent excretory system or sexual organs. Consistent with this 'biological robot' hypothesis was the complete absence of any galley or food stores aboard the craft. Of course, the possibility of there being a 'mother ship' from which these craft came was also considered, as was the less likely possibility that these small craft could themselves attain transluminal speeds.
The Alien Technology The propulsion system of the craft, of obvious priority interest to our group, was indeterminate for long after its recovery. While still subject to the laws of physics (as we imperfectly understand them), the craft's workings went far beyond our technological grasp at that time. Unfamiliar, nearly magical technology was displayed, devices that we now know as integrated circuits, fiber optics, supertenuous fibers and metals, and an unfathomable power source and drive mechanism, as well as other technology which it is not necessary to discuss in this document.
Implications and The Zodiac The military implications of the presence of these craft in our atmosphere and the possibility that they may have established friendly communications with our Cold War enemies were obvious and unsettling. The discovery of these craft led to an equally unsettling reexamination of the European intelligence reports referred to above, as well as the postwar investigation by Gen. Jimmy Doolittle of the "ghost rockets" of Norway (see appendix C, attached, top secret report of Gen. James Doolittle). The President was made aware of these developments and ordered the formation of a special group of prominent scientists, Cabinet, military and intelligence officers.
The popular literature bandies about the name of "Majestic 12" or "MJ-12" for this special, secret task force formed by the President. Other names by which it has been identified in the public mind through disinformation programs are "Project Saucer" and "Aquarius." While it is possible that any one or more of these was the name of the group at one time, for most of its existence the code name for the group and the extensive program which it spawned has been and still is "Zodiac," with each of its operational subdivisions known by the name of a different zodiacal sign, including Aquarius.
The Decline of Government Involvement in Zodiac As the years passed, the operational involvement of high government officials in Zodiac waned to a certain degree, especially with the conclusion of the Eisenhower Administration, although most presidents were still kept informed of key overview facts as they came to light. However, it fell to the Agency's supervisors of Zodiac to determine who else in the government should have access to this very closely-held and highly compartmentalized information, to the point that, like the heads of military intelligence before World War II, they sometimes decided not to share information with certain presidents, including Nixon and Ford.
All other presidents were kept reasonably well-informed, including Jimmy Carter, who went back on his pledge to reveal all of the information the government had on UFOs once he was elected president.
Agency Control and Alien Craft Recovery As of the early 1980s, the Agency exercised complete control over Zodiac, with the cooperation of the rest of the intelligence community and the military branches, particularly the Air Force and the Navy. From 1947 to the early 1980s, Zodiac recovered eleven other alien craft in various states of disrepair, from a diminutive single-seat flying wing to a rather large craft that had to be trucked into Wright Patterson by dead of night.
Extraterrestrial Beings and Technological Discoveries Besides the technology, the beings found with these craft are central to the Program's investigations. There seem to be at least four types of occupants, the two described above, as well as humanoids that appear to be almost human and Nordic in appearance, and small, strong, hairy ones.
An Unsettling Incident and New Assignment Details of the following incident should be carefully considered and recalled, as they will be useful to you during the first phases of your assignment. By the late '60s, Zodiac had been able to recruit members of an elite recovery team.
Within the last 48 hours, the team was dispatched to a remote site in the Midwest where a craft and bodies were collected and ferried to the appropriate locations, seemingly without incident. This time, it’s become clear to our debriefing teams at Wright Patterson that the first members questioned could not account for an hour and a half's worth of time spent at the site.
You have been selected to be part of a newly forming debriefing team whose task will be the correlation and analysis of these events. Your assignment is to find out why even the most senior members of the team shared in this memory gap, and to find out what happened during that hour and a half.
Instructions for the Report Your report is to be in writing and is to have one original and no copies. It is to be hand-delivered by you to me. It is to bear the security stamps "TOP SECRET," "ZODIAC" and "EYES ONLY." You will let no one see your report but me and you will not share its contents with those with whom you are working at Wright Patterson without my authorization.
Very Truly Yours, Col. David H., USAF
Masters read it through again. When he looked up, an Air Force captain had entered the room. "Are you finished with the letter?" he asked in a flat tone. "I'm done with it," Masters sighed, and for the first time in his professional career heard his own voice waver with what sounded like nervousness. He handed the letter to the captain, who took it without comment, counting the pages.
The captain took out a cigarette lighter and lit the corners of the pages, gingerly dropping them into a red "burn barrel," stirring the ashes with a metal rod. After the papers had been reduced to small wisps of white ash, the captain took another piece of paper out of his briefcase, signed it, and presented it to the airman, who also signed it. The airman then presented it to Masters, who signed the sworn declaration of witnessing the destruction of the document.
Here's the deep dive article by Dolan that also includes the full scan of the UFO mag article. It connects dots between the recent revelations, the Davis/Wilson notes etc.
ChatGPT helped convert the barely readable pdf-to-text conversion to something readable, but preserving the content, only added headers and formating. I was out of tokens so I couldn't convert the other chapters, they're very interesting as well. All chapters are in the provided link.
Just to be clear, not making claims or drawing conclusions just wanted to share this before 3rd part Reddit apps will be killed at 30 June. Yeah fuck you, spez

2023.06.10 22:58 Hatrct Using ChatGPT for a good cause
TL;DR: read the bold for the tl;dr: basically, use chatGPT to learn more about the eras/figures in bold.
Unfortunately, meaningful study of history starts at the undergraduate level. It is a shame that they don't teach this in high school, and it is a shame that the vast majority in undergrad temporarily rote memorize the knowledge in their history and history-related courses just to pass the exam and then forget it after, especially because for most students these courses fall under electives. I already studied the below extensively in numerous courses in university and critically analyzed and connected the concepts across courses over 100s of hours, so I am picking a practical summary that you can use chatGPT to learn more about in less time.
As you read this post, remember that our neoliberal capitalist politicians and bankers and CEOs, who are our leaders and run the country, barely know any of the following knowledge. Even the most educated of them, their education is limited to isolated narrow specializations like economics (of capitalism) and modern law (which was shaped by many of the incorrect thinkers/ideologies named below). Isn't it bizarre? How can you run a country when you don't even understand the validity and morality of the ideology and systems your rule is based on? Also, the vast majority of the electorate is unfortunately largely unaware the vast majority of the knowledge below.
I highly recommend everybody to study world history since the beginning of humanity around 200k years ago, and especially European history since the 1500s, and try to see how everything logically connects in each specific era: geography, art, technology, political philosophies/systems (this will also make you realize that "determinism" makes more sense than "free will"). This would reduce ignorance and racism, and also shed light on how the modern failure of a neoliberal capitalist system came into place. If more people realized the incorrect pillars this system is based on, they would be less likely to continuously vote for the politicians who prop it up, and we can finally take a step toward meaningful change, toward meaningfully fixing issues such as the economy and environmental degradation and damage.
I highly recommend you use ChatGPT to learn about the following periods/people:
The Renaissance.
The Protestant Reformation.
The Scientific Revolution.
The Age of Enlightenment. (This one is particular useful in terms of showing why we have the incorrect modern neoliberal capitalist system, because the thinkers of this time erroneously thought that humans are rational, which has been proven false by the modern literature. This kind of thinking is what led to bizarre concepts such as US gun laws. I would also recommend you check out "negative freedom/liberty" vs "positive freedom/liberty".)
As you learn about each era, you see how each one builds on each other. They are in chronological order.
Some important figures (that modern neoliberal Western capitalism is built on) you can research:
Thomas Hobbes (incorrect thinking: mistook his immediate environment as human nature; this is where the modern incorrect capitalist notion of "humans are selfish and have unlimited greed" comes from. no, humans are not selfish, humans are built for self-preservation: this is NOT the same thing as "humans are naturally hardwired to accumulate unlimited wealth that they can't even use while starving billions for it". It depends on the nature of the society, if society is built in a way that punishes selfishness and rewards altruism, then in order to self-preserve, people would have to show a degree of altruism. Modern capitalism mistakes cause and effect: obviously, if the system you live in rewards selfishness and punishes altruism, then people will have to act selfish to self-preserve, this does not mean that this is "human nature". Unlimited greed is not consistent with evolutionary theory and makes no rational sense.)
John Locke (much of the US constitution is based on his largely incorrect thinking, people like Ted Cruz act consistent with his thinking; his ideas serve the bedrock for the bizarre idea that "a central state should not have too much power otherwise it will automatically be corrupt"= but in practice this lead to neoliberalism= the government becomes so weak that corporations practically hijack it run it/use it solely for their own benefit, which is even worse than an oppressive central state, because corporations have absolutely 0 regard for humans and the environment, whereas a central state would be motivated to please people at least a little bit, even the worse dictators please their people to some degree due to fear of being toppled, whereas corporations would literally let the world burn for 1 cent more profit)
John Stuart Mill (mostly good thinking)
Jean-Jacques Rousseau (mostly good thinking)
The stuff in parentheses above is my interpretation/opinion based on thinking about this stuff critically for 100s of hours. You don't have to agree. I just hope you do your own research on these timelines/historical figures.

2023.06.10 22:53 Electrical-Key-446 Help! Want to break lease
Context:
My husband and I rented a townhouse in March, 1 yr lease. We're in the middle of migrating to the US and finally got the news COVID-19 had been delaying.
Our plan was to live as long as we could here before I would technically "lose the visa". That's 6 months and would bring us to November. We'd still keep paying it @$300 a month because it's cheap, and we liked the landlords. My brother could stay here for the rest or not, whatever.
Now:
We're not fusssy but we've had to deal with quite a bit.
- The property manager was rude and made us uncomfortable.
- They're responsible for maintaining outside but don't.
- We went without water for a week, turns out there's issues with the water company and we NEVER HAD WATER FROM THE MAIN for montts. The water tanks had emptied. They ended up re-filling it with a water truck. This was April.
- There was a leak in the living room thru the wall and light bulb. Turns out the waste pipe in the bathroom upstairs wasn't connected? Or whatever they said. They had to GUT THE BATHROOM which took 2 days. My husband and I work from home. It was noisy as hell. This was May.
- No water again. End of may, about 9 days. They promised to refill the tanks otp then when the time came said it was a "misunderstanding" and wouldn't. We paid for a truck to come.
- Foul odor since the bathroom had to be gutted to fix that pipe. Today my husband flushed the toilet and turned on the shower and they both started bubbling. Now the toilet is overflowing and the shower won't drain.
- Now I see my shoes are wet. Leaky roof. The roof was "checked" when they dug up the bathroom...my handmade leather sandals that are no longer made are soaked.
Question: Is any of this grounds for termination? They're cool people but this sucks. I have my visa. It wouldve been nice to keep saving on rent but I can't do it anymore.

2023.06.10 22:49 Dangime The Hidden Message about Silver Within Sailor Moon
| While many of you may be aware that The Wizard of Oz was written as a monetary allegory for the financial politics of America in the 1890s, fewer of you are likely aware that another modern classic piece of media was also created to mirror the cyclical nature of monetary debasement in history from the solid foundation of backing by precious metals. That modern classic is of course the undeniably influential Japanese Animation 美少女戦士セーラームーン, Bishōjo Senshi Sērā Mūn, or Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. Originally released as a manga that ran from 1991 to 1997, Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon received an anime adaptation by Toei Animation that ran from 1992 to 1997. This was a period of economic turbulence for Japan which had seen a crash in its stock markets after decades of post-war economic growth. As documented in the book Princes of the Yen, Japan had run an economy and banking system detached from any hard money foundation for decades, sustaining such a system with continuous loan growth from the Bank of Japan, and by running a current account surplus through export of high value items such as electronics and automobiles. However, as the 1990s progressed, demographic factors within Japan as well as competition from cheap labor countries like China contributed to a rapid decline in Japan's stock markets. A red hot real estate market which once saw the grounds of the Japanese Imperial Palace valued higher than the entire state of California collapsed as well and Japan entered into what came to be known as the Lost Decade, although adding an s to the end is now perhaps applicable since the stock and real estate markets have never recovered to the old highs of the late 1980s. The time was perhaps right in Japanese history for arcane knowledge of the monetary system to be delivered to another generation struggling with economic and political corruption. Enter Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. Released ostensibly as a shōjo or "girl" anime of the Magical Girl subgenre, Sailor Moon also found popularity amongst boys and young men due to the highly attractive feminine designs of the series main protagonists as well as the combination of action along with character development throughout the series. Sailor Moon found its influence creeping far beyond Japan's borders both in cultural and real terms. Sailor Moon saw an international release and is one of the series that is often cited as having put Japanese Animation into the mainstream of western culture at a time when only a handful of other Japanese titles had found success in the west. As of 2014, Sailor Moon had generated over $13 billion dollars of merchandise sales alone. Analysis of the monetary interpretation of Sailor Moon can begin with its origins literally titled "The Fall of the Silver Millenium". Queen Serenity is the ruler of the Moon Kingdom and states that her goal is to aid in the evolution of life on Earth. In this setting the moon is depicted as a utopia with flowing springs and elaborate palaces. The source of the Queen's power is the "Silver Crystal'' which can release tremendous power, but takes a toll on the user when doing so. Much like Dorthy's Ruby Slippers which had been changed from the original Silver Slippers in the novel for the movie adaptation of the Wizard of Oz, the addition of "crystal" to "silver" can be viewed as an attempt at obscuration of the deeper meaning to avoid censorship from entrenched interests in governments and central banks. The Queen's daughter, also named Serenity, falls in love with Prince Endymion from the Earth. However, their romance is short lived as Endymion delivers dire news about the state of affairs on Earth. Queen Beryl has been granted dark power from an entity called Queen Metalia, a shadowy entity that draws its power from the sun and was heralded by the appearance of unusual sun spots. Here is an analysis of the original Japanese names for these characters from Fanblog Tuxedo Unmaksed.com. "Well, it’s to give it a double meaning. While it still sounds reasonably close to queen (and is treated canonically that way), it also looks similar to クリソ (kuriso; chryso). So actually, Queen Beryl’s name is more strongly connected to chrysoberyl. Just by looking, you can see that this stone much more closely matches the color scheme associated with Queen Beryl (gold), so it’s pretty clear that this is more likely a closer source for her inspiration than normal beryl. That means that the chryso- connection probably also remains true for Queen Metalia as well, since her name is also written in the same (misspelled) manner. Since there's no substance known as metalia, we can rule out any special connection there other than it simply being a reference to metal, but with the chryso- prefix attached, it modifies the meaning to the metal, gold. What that ultimately leaves us with is the villain, an evil queen born of hatred from the sun and named in honor of the mineral gold fighting against the Silver Millennium, ruled by the queen of the moon." . Pictured are the forces of the Dark Kingdom, equipped with golden shields Gold has historically been associated with the sun, while Silver has been associated with the moon based on their appearance and the particular way each reflects light. Given this event is set in the distant past in the timeline of Sailor Moon, it becomes easier to see what this battle is going to historically. This points to the "Crime of 1873" where silver was demonetized by the United States. After the passage of this 1873 law, silver miners could no longer turn in their silver to be minted into silver coinage. This had a suppressive effect on the price of silver, which lowered in value compared to gold, which still could be directly redeemed for dollars. This effort at silver demonetization was linked to a larger effort by European banks which held bonds (paper debt obligations) and gold. Holders of bonds wanted to ensure deflationary pressures, which would maximize the value of their bonds at the expense of debtors, while the issuance of new silver coinage was inflationary. The net effect of this action was to hurt common people most likely to be in debt. The United States was still recovering from the Civil War, where the issuance of unbacked paper money "Greenbacks" had become commonplace. "The inability to “cash in” silver bullion had the greatest impact upon miners, farmers and those who had debts to pay. The working class now had no feasible means to do so. Greenbacks could be redeemed for silver, but with the passage of the Specie Payment Resumption Act of 1875, the legal tender limit could not be greater than five dollars. The Act caused silver prices to fall even more than they previously had (due to oversupply), resulting in an increase in gold prices. It also caused the silver mining western part of the country to be at odds with the gold counting eastern part. The country was divided yet again." - United States Mint Website This is the same fertile ground that the Wizard of Oz pulled its monetary themed inspiration from. However, for Sailor Moon, this is merely the introduction, the backdrop for the story going forward. Queen Serenity manages to use the power of the Silver Crystal to somewhat mitigate the effects of the invasion of the Moon by the Dark Kingdom. While the Moon Kingdom falls and Queen Serenity dies from the extreme use of the silver crystal, she manages to thwart the invasion and seal the Dark Kingdom's power. At the same time she uses her power to see to it that Serenity, Endymion, and the Sailor Scouts who fell in battle will be reincarnated on Earth during a more peaceful era so they can live out happier lives. This is the real beginning of the story as we are introduced to Usagi (or Serena in English) who is the spitting image of Princess Serenity and is living in modern day Tokyo as an 8th grade middle school student. Somehow the Dark Kingdom has managed to return and is seeking energy in order to restore Queen Metalia to her full power. In order to do this they are attempting to locate the silver crystal, and in the meantime they settle on stealing energy from humans as a substitute. Luna, a talking cat that had been placed in stasis since the fall of the Moon Kingdom, finds Usagi and warns her of the reemergence of the Dark Kingdom and provides her with a broach that contains the silver crystal. By using the broach and saying the activating words, Usagi is able to transform into Sailor Moon, a magical soldier capable of fighting the forces of the Dark Kingdom. Usagi is given the task of finding the Moon Princess by Luna. At this point it's not made clear that Usagi is indeed the Moon Princess, paralleling how the knowledge of silver and its use as money had been lost in the mind of the modern population. Luna also reveals that there are other Sailor Scouts that must be discovered that will assist her in the battle against the Dark Kingdom. The Sailor Scout's parallels as allies to silver only become more overt as they are introduced. The first Sailor Scout to be discovered is Sailor Mercury. The substance mercury was also known historically as quicksilver. Sailor Mercury is introduced as Ami Mizuno, a genius student whom Luna immediately gives a portable supercomputer to assist in the hunt for the Dark Kingdom. While Sailor Mercury is a capable fighter, she more often uses misdirection and deception in order to aid the other Sailor Scouts in battle by filling the battlefield with concealing mist or illusions. Ami as Sailor Mercury represents the technology industry as a whole and its massive demand for silver. Silver is an indispensable part of microprocessors and the best conductor of electricity. As a result it finds a number of irreplaceable uses in the tech industry. It is hard to believe it is by chance that Ami and by extension the tech industry is the first ally that appears to pull silver out of its near universal amnesia. The second Sailor Scout discovered is Rei Hino, Sailor Mars. Mars also makes an easy connection to silver through the Military-Industrial Complex's demand for silver. Mars of course is the Roman God of War, and Sailor Mars is depicted as a feisty, sometimes aggressive teenage girl with psychic powers who is at the same time steeped in traditional Shinto practices at a local shrine. Militaries around the world are more and more dependent on high tech weaponry in the form of smart weapons, high tech fighter planes, drones, and emerging technologies like laser weapons and mass drivers. One common example cited is the estimated 12kg (480oz) of silver that is used in the batteries and electronics of a single Tomahawk cruise missile. The next Sailor Scout found is Makoto Kino, Sailor Jupiter. Sailor Jupiter's depiction leads her to have two possible connections to being an ally of silver. One is that Jupiter is representative of the large household consumer market. Jupiter is of course the largest planet and most modern economies are dependent on consumer spending. Makoto is depicted as the largest and physically strongest of the Sailor Scouts and of being conscious of this fact, as apparently some Japanese men find this unattractive in women. Makoto counters this by trying to be more stereotypically feminine, being depicted as having the best cooking and homemaking skills amongst the scouts. This is symbolic of household consumption, its outsized role in the economy, and the amount of silver it unconsciously demands through all its purchases. In Japan, the women of the household traditionally control the household budget and in the United States women make or influence roughly 85% of consumer purchases. Another connection to silver comes from the fact that all Sailor Jupiter's attacks are lightning based. Silver as mentioned previously is the best conductor of electricity and large amounts of silver are needed in various power generating and transferring applications, the most commonly cited would be silver as a necessary component in solar panels. The final Sailor Scout to join the team is Minako Aino, Sailor Venus. Sailor Venus is associated with love along with her namesake the Roman Goddess of Love, Venus. There is a quick association to make here between Venus and jewelry-based demand for silver, the "love" trade. Silver is widely used in jewelry, particularly in lower income countries like India where gold is out of reach for most due to its relatively high cost. Wearable dowries made of silver are traditional in India as well, so much so that price moves in the metal can be seen seasonally during the wedding season in India. There is also something to be said about Venus being the last to come around to the group, and being the only Sailor Scout to be active prior to meeting Sailor Moon. Sailor Venus, known as Sailor V, worked as a crime fighting hero overseas alongside an Interpol agent before joining with the scouts. This makes Minako the only member of the scouts to be attached to any real world political establishment. Minako's goal is also to become an idol, a Japanese combination of actress and singer, which would put her in the media industry that is heavily controlled and influenced by the government. This implies too that the government is always last to accept silver's monetary role, but it eventually comes around and does so. Now that we've introduced the heroes, let's get down to what the villains are actually doing in Sailor Moon. As previously mentioned, the Dark Kingdom is looking for energy to revive Queen Metalia, and the way it goes about doing this is generally by corrupting some form of commerce. Here's a few examples. In episode 1, the Dark Kingdom sells cursed jewelry. In episode 3, a radio station is corrupted and those who engage with the show by sending in love letters are sent cursed flowers. In episode 4, a fake gym is created to steal human energy. In episode 5, fake pets are sold that smell of perfume, but corrupt the owner. Episodes 6 & 7 play on the music and idol industries being subverted. This trend holds through the first half of the first season, with generally each episode being about corrupting some form of consumer activity in order to steal human energy. Now if you had to try to find a real world comparison for the Dark Kingdom, something that corrupted everyday economic activity and used its influence to steal power from people, what might it be? The obvious answer is banks. The influence of finance is everywhere in the economy and by controlling the terms of interest rates through central banks and the issuing of currency through either money printing or issuance of credit, finance has been accused of "ruining" any number of industries. It's fair to see how the Dark Kingdom is basically a stand in for the banking industry. They hold tons of gold in Central Banks, and no silver, while spreading their corrupting influence through every type of economic activity imaginable. A slight variation in this theme occurs when a new villain is appointed by the Dark Kingdom and focuses on corrupting celebrities or high performing individuals instead of entire industries. Does any of this sound like real life to you, with celebrities that have no real background in politics or financial matters always having a loud opinion on them? This continues until the final arc of the series where the reincarnated Prince Endymion (Tuxedo Mask / Chiba Mamoru) is captured and brainwashed using the power of dark energy to serve Queen Beryl. Prince Endymion is effectively representative of all of Earth society, being the only "good" Earthling we know of from the age of the Silver Millenium. Endymion is turned easily enough to fight against the Sailor Scouts, but always stops short of defeating them in battle, even going as far as actively interfering with the plans of other Dark Kingdom generals who are acting against the Sailor Scouts. Repeatedly these generals complain to Queen Beryl about Endymion's interference but each time she ignores as both her and Queen Metalia are obsessed with controlling rather than destroying Endymion. For Beryl, this is depicted as Endymion being a love interest, while everything about Metalia is more abstract, but Endymion is described as "Worthy of receiving dark power." This scenario is clearly representing the banking establishment wishing to control society at large as represented by Endymion. No matter how much "dark energy" (fiat currency, credit generation, money printing) Beryl pushes on Endymion (society) things never go exactly the way she wishes. Eventually the truth is revealed, Endymion regains his memories and goes back to assisting the Sailor Scouts, Likewise with the banking system historically, no matter how much control they seem to have over everything, eventually it breaks down and people return to true buying power in the form of silver. The series culminates in a final showdown by the combined Sailor Scouts and Endymion against the Dark Kingdom at their base in the North Pole. Sailor Moon manages to defeat Queen Beryl who had become possessed by Queen Metalia, however in the process of using the silver crystal to do so, everyone involved in the battle loses their memories of the past battles and roles as defenders of truth and justice. This speaks to human weakness, or perhaps the cyclical nature of monetary systems and knowledge that is lost on a generational basis. It might not be strange for those of our grandparents or great grandparents generation, having lived through economic crises created by the banking system to understand the importance of silver and sound money in the financial system, only for all it to be forgotten by the next generation who have to learn the hard way again as the corrupting forces of banking and finance reimpose themselves on society. Sailor Moon does contain a strong generational theme with repetitive crises that while not exactly alike, certainly do rhyme, with Queen Serenity giving way to Usagi, and then Chibi-Usa (Mini-Moon). The scenario that seems to match the above description the most is the crises of the late 1970s in regards to silver, oil, and the monetary system. Despite the US Dollar losing all metal backing and the price of silver hitting an all-time high, the market seemed to learn nothing and life as normal managed to find a way to continue, although not without leaving the future uncertain. In Part 2 of this series I will investigate Sailor Moon R (Rebirth), the second installment in the Sailor Moon series for its hidden messages regarding the monetary system. submitted by Dangime to SilverDegenClub [link] [comments] |

2023.06.10 22:48 roguewallfly My exterior garage lights won’t turn on.
I’m novice homeowner of a 5 year old house (2nd owner) which recently the exterior street garage lights won’t turn on anymore. The address light still turns on but both sconces won’t turn on. They’re on a timer somewhere. They both went out sometime after I replaced one of the bulbs with an LED bulb (noticed it 3-4 weeks after I changed the bulb but idk when it went out). Tried to replace it again with a few different types of bulbs without success. Looked and tried all the switches, GFCIs and breakers I could think with no avail. This house is in Las Vegas if that’s of any help. Am I missing something easy or is it time to call an electrician?
Thank you in advance

2023.06.10 22:48 klok_kaos TTRPG System Design Poll
Hello All! I'm doing some basic polling and playtesting with an option I'm about 50/50 on for my game
Project Chimera: E.C.O. currently in alpha development.
Basic information: Players take on the role of a black ops super soldier working for a PMSC (Chimera Group International). The game heavily focuses on stealth and social objective completion over combat, ie, there is no incentive for combat, it's a way to achieve an objective, but it's the worst ROI since it is potentially lethal and consumes resources much faster than other methods and doesn't offer special rewards, also there's not really "loot" per se like in a DnD game. Loot is most likely to be information that advances the plot.
The game is crunchy, while easy to learn the core game loops (there's a 1 page overview that will get any experienced RPer able to sit for their first session and 3 points of entry: pregen, table roll/select, and full custom) it's mostly that it has lots of flexibility and character options, which is great for players that want that, but it's a known limitation it will not appeal to rules light/casual gamer preferred experiences.
The game takes place in a five minutes into the future dystopian mirror alt earth with cyberpunk and sci fi elements. Characters have access to things like advanced training, gear, bionics, psionics, super powers, feats, etc. A character's starting template doesn't restrict them, it just figures out their initial boosted areas, ie if you take the bionics aspect, your character will have more bionics than a general build character, you can still access everything else, but it's more a question of where you want the thematic focus of the character to be. All characters are baseline competent in the areas of stealth, socialization, survival and gunplay/combat (you absolutely can use HTH and melee with extensive options, but as one might expect, guns are usually more effective, though those options definitely have their place). As such consider these things to be relevant to potential players, ie if you hate stealth/social, prefer rules light casual, opinions are less relevant in this case because it's not a game built for that kind of player.
The Actual Concern: Currently I'm considering removing the concept of a critical hit in combat doing double damage automatically and there's a good amount of relevant information:
- Players have others ways to boost damage
- This wouldn't remove the option, it just expands the option to more options.
The concept works like this: Characters have 4 meta currencies, one of them is called Essence.
This is a daily regen pool and is used for "enhanced performance" of some kind. Presently it can be used for things like a small bonus to a roll for a save, or gaining +1 standard action on a turn, remove a level of exhaustion, rally, etc., the point being it does have a level of utility. It might be also be used to fuel a special ability from a feat, augment a powepsionic, allow for a special application move, etc.
Crits occur in combat (skills can also crit) similar to PF2e in that you can gain one on a nat 20 or if you exceed the TN by 10+ (in most cases, there are other ways to finagle this but they are niche).
Essence is described in game as:
Essence represents the total abstract humanity of a character as well as their general combined physical and mental well being, focus, and general willpower. It is utilized to overcome general limitations and perform above expectations. Essence is most commonly associated with the concept of the superego. The proposed change would be a character gains 1 essence (up to max pool, this can be spent immediately if it exceeds) on a crit, but double damage would cost 2 essence.
A typical early level character is likely to have somewhere around 10-20 essence total in the pool (could be more or less but this is an estimated average).
Some positives of this proposed change: This provides another opportunity for essence regen for players.
This provides additional utility and tactical choice in combat (ie they might opt for double damage and spend the extra, bank it, apply a status effect instead, etc.), particularly because more damage is not always a preferred option. In many cases disabling an opponent quickly and without drawing attention is preferred over killing them, and in some cases capturing a target alive is the mission itself.
This can open up other combat applications for essence use.
Some negatives of the proposed change: Adding a player choice here can slow down combat for indecisive players.
This puts more emphasis/reward on combat, which isn't really the intent of the game. Essence is easier to earn in game in other ways, but adding incentive in combat assumes that this is a reward for player behavior, when open combat is, by design, meant to be more of an "oops, we screwed up moment". With that said, characters are black ops super soldiers so the game is less about never being in combat and more about trying to stave off combat as much as possible and if you have to enter combat, doing so with control of the battlefield in a smart and tactical manner.
This requires additional book keeping. Not a whole lot, we already have to track essence use, but we now have to consider that it will fluctuate more often (as part of combat).
Why I'm split: The game is built and meant to be focused on providing experiences other than combat (ie the goal is to get as far away from typical game loop of "punch monster until it drops loot" as possible), but it would be fair to say it also has extremely robust options and tactical choice for combat. To be clear, the combat is highly tactical and has more moves available in and out of combat than probably any other known game on the market, but it's also not meant to appeal specifically to "combat only players" and the system design directly reflects this.Basically my design values are in a bit of conflict here.
Obviously I'll play test this regardless, but I'm curious about:
Are there additional reasons foagainst this? Given the premises of the game, which do you think is likely to be more fun for you specifically? For the type of gamer this game is meant to appeal to? Why? View Poll submitted by

2023.06.10 22:46 klok_kaos Critical Hit Polling question

2023.06.10 22:46 easye3 Strange Dimmer Switch Issue
If you single press the dimmer switch “On” the lights flash as they slowly turn on, hit 100% and then off.
If you single press the dimmer remote “On” they flash less and don’t turn on.
If you double press the dimmer switch “On” they flip on, no issues.
If you double press the dimmer remote “On”, they don’t work.
Once they are on, you can turn them off by press “Off” and they dim until off on both the switch and the remote.
If you immediately turn them back on; the lights slowly turn on just as expected and remain on. Works with remote and switch.
It seems like they just have a hard time turning on the ”first” time.
I can’t remember if it ever worked with these bulbs specifically but it’s worked for years, across different bulbs… been installed for 6 years and had to use 2-3 different bulbs because yea sure LEDs last 25 years… sigh
Thoughts?

2023.06.10 22:45 TonyMcTony [Pyanodon] Py Sci Pack 2 automated at 190 hours
| Since I sunk so many hours into this mod, thought I'd provide a sort of journal entry for my progress. This will be a long-ish post, so if you are not interested in my horrible life decisions, just scroll through and enjoy the pictures. I hope with this post, i can give some insight to the people behind me progressing in the modpack. And i hope to keep myself sane enough to keep going and write about my adventures to the next sci pack milestone, and eventually Pyrrhic Victory! Background: I started Factorio about a year ago, didn't really like it at first when i was playing through the tutorial, and actually stopped. I remember thinking "wow I just pipe water to the boiler, add some coal and my stuff are all powered?" that was sort of a turn off for me. But then after giving it another try, i decided to stick with it and try to launch a rocket. I played the default setting at first, and didn't like the pacing. I found myself advancing too fast through the tech tree. I got halfway through Blue science and didn't even really have a solid production of the components yet and felt like i was drowning. I restarted with marathon mode and it really clicked for me. Letting me learn about the basics before giving access to too many toys. In that mode i learned about dual loading belts, blueprints, trains (signals and station limits), and making 'somewhat' tileable/expandable productions. I didn't get into bots and i don't think i will. I only used Logistic bots to refill my inventory from malls and construction bots to remotely adjust my mining outposts. Launched the rocket in my marathon mode, and decided to seek more! Before i thought to jump into the big mod packs, i tried to do a marathon mode Space Extension game to learn about scaling. Wow that was not for me. I got incredibly bored of making the same thing in larger scales so i quit. So i looked for the next best thing in the list. Saw this Pyanodon pack and said, why not. Jumped straight in. The run: I started my foray into PY a few months before PyAE came out, and was sort of glad that i did around this time, so i didn't have to re-learn everything. I didn't really get too deep into PYAL yet. I had a few restarts due to realizing a lot of my errors, and decided to stop restarting about the same time the Caravan patch came in. The Caravans were so much fun, i stopped having any thoughts of quitting the mod. I started the game with the Py default settings (no biters and no pollution... my computer is old), and tried to keep it as pure as possible. The only mods i used other than the full PyAE pack were: - Even distribution (to save my mouse and index finger during the burner phase... clicking all the coal was a pain in the ash)
- Vehicle Snap (There is a lot of driving in this game, i think that's what Py intended... for you to explore. I got tired of veering off and hitting my electric poles so i made 1 tile wide brick "highways" to aid my driving, and use the mod to snap in the cardinal directions)
- To-Do list (I actually didn't use this mod much... i felt like i needed a to-do list to write the to-do list, so i gave up trying to make use of this)
- Playtime+ (Time flies fast when you're having fun. And this lets you see that :))
Since the devs of this mod pack revel in pain and suffering, i thought by keeping it as lean as possible, it would fulfill that goal. I've never used any of the other recipe searching or planning or calculator mods, i'll explain it later on if i remember.... *Sidenote about RSO* The base game resource generation is a bit janky when it comes to PY. I had to roll the map a few times because i'd say 5/10 the starting resource patches would overlap and you'd have an impossibly hard start if there's not enough iron or copper. While RSO solves this, it messes up spawning of the farther resources (So you can get unlucky and have no Zinc spawn closeby, but also on the flip side, lucky and trivialize the early game power puzzle if you get a Geothermal water spot that spawn 3-5 patches in a spot, you can run a centrifuge without any powerplans if you get 3-4 spots of 3-5 patches of geothermal! [Py default will only spawn 1 as they are very powerful in early science]) Here's the full map that i've explored. To find far resources (Salt/sulfuGeothermal etc.) i set up a fishturbine+radar in the 4 cardinal directions, let them scan fully, then move them clockwise to the intercards, let them scan, and etc. it was quite effective. Here's a closer look at the main area, with tags to identify general purpose of the spot Base showcase: K enough babbling, onto the important stuff. Start with the achievement - Py Sci 2 automated. I was going to get it under 190 but i forgot to ship my mechanical parts lol. A better view of the area. Primers, Retrovirus&DNA Polymerase, Good alien Sample and Py Sci 2. Eventually i might export science packs through that pre-planned train station (i.e. move PY sci 2 to Chem sci). Borders with the Arqad area since i needed vrauk cocoons and Arqad Venom Self sustained Arqad area. Makes its own ingredients for Vrauks and its food. I ship in Ralesia/Flora and Tin with Caravans, and have a train station bringing in red-hot coke and the Arqad combs Further down south from Arqad, i have my Korlex milk (& Casein/Tuuphra), Zipir, Paragen, Flavanoid makers. I had a tiny amount of fish makers here and quickly realized that it was quickly overwhelmed... had to expand another fish factory. The line of biomass will eventually reach my intended biomass processing area. For now it is not backing up anything (got one of those 800 slot warehouses holding animal parts [see my log sci area later]. I will make that biomass processing area soon.... Further away, at another tin patch, i started a fish factory. Here is also where i tried to play with the Aerial Discharge base. They are quirky but sorta not that worth it. I use 3 to go between this tin outpost (steam to mine) and my glassworks outpost to make steam to process tar (next screen) I realized that glass is getting used more and more and i needed to ship it (Mech parts, Biosamples, etc.) So eventually i had to create this little outpost where it receives overflow fuels (Petroleum and Gasoline) and also on site tar processing and burn all the fuel byproducts (Anthracene, aromatics, carbolic etc.) I ship out the pitch and creosote to help make red science bricks and sand casting and rails. The Aerial base here is the other end of the path from the Tin patch for fish. Steam is used to break down tar. I ship in syngas to power the oil burner for steam with an underflow. Biosample and redhot coke to the Arqad/Py Sci 2 area from before. I never automated Biosample before this (can easily hand craft for the initial ones for synthesis of Alien Life). Caravans bring in Titanium/Steel and Lead. Train ships in glass. At this point i started REALLY voiding stuff since it was getting too complicated to hook them all up to be used. Yes i can bring this muddy sludge to my moss area but it was not worth it. I never void anything with fuel values though (Except trace hydrogen in remote spots) since you can easily hook it up to overflow to a oil burner -> Steam engine. On to the best part (in my opinion). My Mechanical Parts 1 subfactory. I use 6 caravans here. My rationale is that these ingredients are used in small amounts, so 200 brains (200 round trips) of 1500+++ ingredients each trip should last me a life time. I ship in: Quartz Ore, Green circuits, Zinc plate, Rubber, Solder, and Tin plates. The Small parts and copper caravan outposts are exporter stations. I ship in glass from rails, make plastic from the wastewater from the Fish factory you saw earlier. AND.... I have a 'Janktown Express' train that brings in 4 obscure ingredients to the Mech parts factory. It brings in Titanium (just because its in the area) with the three ingredients requiring Antimony Oxide - Vitreloy (Brakes), Iron-Nex-Antimony (Shaft) and Lead-Antimony (Batteries). This is the original 'Janktown Express'. My very first train that i used to take 4 components to the Logistic Science area from the Antimony area. To this day this train is still on its own rail line and not connected to the main rail grid. Sorta like those 100 year old historic trolley trains that run through a main City. Side areas: Onto the other parts of my base, if you're still interested. Here's the Logistic sci factory area that the Janktown express drops off the 4 components to. The Auog/vrauk slaughter houses are just south and ships all the chopped up parts into a giant warehouse where it supplies the animal sample maker. Circuitry sends overflow parts to the composter for biomass. Cottonguts and Moondrops are just north (not pictured) Here's my Niobium area that i rushed since i was DYING for the niobium underground pipes. (Not sure if you noticed how much F-in pipes i have in my base yet). It's coupled with the oil sands processing area where i turn oil sands into Syngas. I like this avenue because it let's me use up all the waste products in my base. (Most) stone, and all gravel and sand are shipped here to make Filtration media/Activated Carbon. Stone is crushed into Gravel and excess gravel crushed into sand. Activated carbon turns the flue gas that Oil Sand processing produces into Syngas, and Filtration media turns the Bitumen from Oil sands into Syngas as well. It does mean i cannot burn syngas for nothing (like just using it as fuel for glass/smelters) as it WILL eat up all the stone/gravel/sand. Also have to ship in Zinc and Carbon Dust (from my Coal power plant area) via caravans Py Sci 1 maker with some landfill spaghetti before i was able to reliably mass produce landfill. I vent chlorine here since there's no good use for it (yet), and you will get A TON of it from NaOH. Here's the bulk of my power generation. I have only 3 geothermal deposits so far but even they are not able to power one centrifuge. (3 geo = ~150MW, 1 centrifuge = 207MW). This power plant provides 118x6 MW, produces ash in big quantities (and ships them out). Coal processing lets me mass produce coke through Red Hot Coke, and tons of coal dust for the Filtration Media area from before. I ended up making trees here, i think it was because of Coke -> CO2. I originally wanted to make bricks here as well (ash -> rich clay) for when i really need to jack up red science but i never followed through... i think it was not as efficient use of ash as i thought. I ship out coke here for train fuel, since you will make a LOT of them. Also i ship out hot air here as well to the smelter area. I really appreciate the tar deposits since there's a very simple tech that lets you make simple power setups. Tar + Vacuum = Coke + Heavy oil will let you run both Oil and Coal power plants to make power in a compact setup. the Tar deposits don't look like they will run out anytime soon either. I might make more of these tar deposits around the map later on. (I haven't touched crude oil yet, but will probably do so next). Nat gas (the last of the 3 bitumen seep resources) is required for Arqads. and Finally, a wide shot of the (starter) centre of my base, based around the crashed ship. This shows the seaweed/moss/ralesia areas better as well as the Auog/Vrauk areas, and Cottongut/Moondrop areas up top. The middle right side area was a LOT more congested with early smelting but i eventually moved them out to another area. Yes there's a lot of slaked lime pooled up that i am waiting for the next research (salt products) to use them. (Hope you like the creative use of landfill to cross lakes). Final Word: Some regrets that i had, and thought i'd share: - I really liked Caravans since they had near instant transfer (Faster than any stacked inserters... 1500 items per swing!). But i think i had a misguided vision when i used them for delivering raw ores to my smelting lines. They will require more maintenance from me (putting brains/food in them) as usage goes up. I am not looking forward to squeezing trains in to replace those caravans. But caravans for low quantity items are still amazing for their simplicity.
- I probably automated Py sci 2 too early? I still have a lot of Log sci techs to go lol. Still have Phosphorous, MIBC, Molybdenum, guar and lubricant techs to research (and the TURD upgrades, if im interested in any). I remember i was completely done with Py1 sciences before i got my first Log sci pack at around 50 hours.
- I hopped into Quartz 2 WAY TOO EARLY. i totally underestimated the amount of fine sand you need. My god you need a lot. It really crippled my petri dish making capabilities (and then crippled my Py Sci 1). I made a ton of sand makers and then ended up with a billion muddy sludge, and i finally gave in to voiding it indiscriminately (Overflow valve -> sinkhole). This might be the reason why i still have so many log sci techs to research. I will likely hook up the glass outpost to dump molten glass to my py sci 1 area before long.
- Not taking the time to learn and figure out how to deal with creatures that use 10++ barrels of liquids and barreling machines. I had my arqad/korlex facilities back up so many times because the barreling machine was full and they could not take out any more empty barrels causing a jam. I think eventually i realized that those facilities do not start taking any ingredients in until it shits out all the empty barrels. Once i started paying attention to this fact, i was able to solve this headache.
Some words for the dev team: - This modpack is amazing. I think not using any QOL mods really makes this modpack shine. I believe using calculators or recipe searchers, just basically turn this masterpiece into building Ikea furniture. I.e. you look up Py Sci 2, it spells out exactly what you need to make it and which buildings, and then you just follow it to the tee, place them one after the other, hook them up and voila, you (after a long time) have Py Sci 2.
- The buff to reinforced concrete, while INCREDIBLE (i can zip from one side of my base to the other, and don't have to rely on a car and avoid crashing into my own shit), made all the other cool tiles obsolete. Reinforced concrete is comparably much easier to make, and give the max speed (350%), while the other tiles (asphalt/iron oxide tile/etc.) give only 250% or matches the 350%. The higher tier cooler tiles should go up to even 500%. Also, i am not sure if the better tiles give faster driving speeds too? that would be nice too (if you don't rely on trains to get around).
- Caravans. Whoever made Caravans able to path through trees and pipes, made these guys so much fun to use. I remember before this minipatch, i had to design my buildings in ways that the caravan ogres don't get stuck. Now they almost always are able to find a way through unless you put overflow/underflow valves in tight pipe setups or they get stuck on another caravan lol.
- Solar and Tidal power seems a bit weak (at least at mk1). They are a pain to make and only give 5?MW (AND variable). Maybe if you bite the bullet and make a TON of them right when it makes sense to, it will pay off eventually, but so far the coal and oil powerplants overshadow the renewables. I assume when i get the processed biomass up and running it will be one more strike against Solar and Tidal.
Finally, i hope to continue this amazing modpack and maybe one day make that "PY COMPLETED" post like some of you have done so already. I really cannot believe how fast those guys who posted the PY COMPLETED posts have beaten this pack! PYAE only came out in december 2022? I cannot remember how many times i open the game, look at one of the recipes and immediately went to bed. I think it there were a good 3 or 4 times where i opened up the recipe for Good Alien Samples at night after coming home from work, take a look, and just shut the game down. If you made it this far down the post, thanks for reading and hope you enjoyed this post as much as i enjoyed playing Py. submitted by TonyMcTony to factorio [link] [comments] |
2023.06.10 22:31 n00by97 Long time lurker, first time poster. My GF said y’all’d like the results of my anti-harassment training quiz.
2023.06.10 22:30 Throwaway5735901 Is this just anxiety? How do I stop being like this.
Hello everyone, so as the title suggests I’m looking for some advice on how to get over anxiety issues.
I (M28) have been seeing a wonderful person (F24) for a little over a month and it’s been fantastic, however she’s brought up past trauma that I’ve had a really rough time dealing with. For some context, I have been cheated on a few times, I’ve been gaslit numerous times about not having to worry about someone (and then being left for that person or cheated on with that person), as well as some self image issues which derive from being bullied quite extensively throughout my life.
I have gone to therapy for several years, while this has helped, it hasn’t resolved the issues completely. I’ve tried dating different women to see if perhaps I was dating the wrong type of girl for me, and I’ve tried having a consistent workout routine to help with my imagine issues, however this is what I’ve struggled to keep up with consistently the most.
I’m a decently attractive guy (about a 7 out of 10), I’m tall, in relatively good shape, can get along with people quickly and easily, however I’m always pretty nervous of meeting new people or that the girl I’m seeing is going to meet someone better for her. I never truly feel safe in a relationship, and have started getting gut feelings (which show up in every relationship) that she’s going to cheat on me or leave. This started showing up more frequently when her ex’s messaged her (which she shut down), as well as when one of my friends reached out to me after not speaking for a while to catch-up (this was a trigger because I realized how similar he is to the girl I’m seeing, and made me worry that she would leave me for him if they met).
I do realize that this is all my issues, I don’t control my partner in anyway to ensure that they stay with me, however I don’t fully open up and usually only let them see me in a light that they couldn’t make fun of if they left. For example, I won’t act silly around them, be weird or overly express myself. When I’m alone I’ll sing, dance and be weird sometimes, however I would never be like this around anyone else because I’m so afraid of being judged and embarrassed.
Has anyone overcome similar feelings or been diagnosed with something due to being like this? I feel like this can’t just be general anxiety, and no matter what I’ve done it hasn’t really helped out that much. It has resulted in me feeling jealous towards my partner or has made me want to push them away so I don’t get hurt, and has even made it so I barely have any close friends anymore. Most of the time I feel like I’m the only one like me who exists and while I’m usually ok with that, it’s made it difficult to motivate myself to make new friends, open up to people, and has made it impossible to fully trust anyone.
Sorry for the novel, any advice, positive or negative is appreciated. Thanks.

2023.06.10 22:27 SwordfishMountain832 Parent who doesn’t believe in CFS threatening to get power of attorney to have me institutionalized
I’ve been housebound / on the verge of being bedbound for about a year. My parent thinks I’m only sick because I spend so much time in bed, I’m only tired because I don’t exercise, I only have light and sound sensitivity because I wear earplugs and an eyemask, etc.
I had a recent suicide attempt because this illness has taken everything from me and I have constant excruciating symptoms. But this just confirmed to my parent that I’m crazy and don’t have a physical illness.
They are working to have a court deem me incapacitated and either institutionalize me or force me to live with them where I will not be allowed to lay down during the day, not allowed earplugs or an eyemask for my light and sound sensitivity, and required to exercise and cook/clean. I’ve lived with them before and if I don’t follow orders I am screamed at, shaken, physically pulled from bed, and not allowed to eat. It is not bad enough to call the cops, and even if I did call the cops it is highly likely I would be the one taken away due to my condition. My parent is put together and very well spoken and I am disheveled, sick, brain foggy, and fresh from the psych hospital.
My parent is absolutely convinced that they can “save” me by doing this. They think their homebrew rehab program can cure me, and if it can’t they believe I need to be inpatient to get “treatment” until I am cured. It is absolutely unacceptable to them to be sick at home. No amount of conversation, resources, journal articles, has changed their mind.
I don’t think I have much of a case given my recent suicide attempt, and since I’ve spent the last year gathering extensive medical documentation of my functional limitations in order to apply for disability.
Does anyone have any advice or help? I’ve tried looking for local guardianship lawyers but there aren’t many by me (Colorado) besides some with awful reviews claiming that the lawyers worked AGAINST the client to deem them incapacitated to get the lawyers more money.
My doctors are supportive but they are in the process of writing me letters saying I’m disabled for SSDI. If I switch and have them claim I’m healthy and independent I will lose SSDI. I’m young, I can’t throw away my only shot at income for the rest of my life. I do fully believe I am disabled enough to not be able to work, but competent enough to make my own decisions, but that seems like a fine line that a random judge or court-appointed doctor would not understand, especially given the pervasive ignorance of our disease.
The one week in the psych hospital was brutal for my symptoms. I do not want to wind up like Karina Hansen. I have no one to advocate for me. Any help would be appreciated.

https://discord.gg/2EQPEZ8 Server Restart Intervals Are At 5:40AM PST - 11:40AM PST - 5:40PM PST 11:40PM PST
BASE BUILDING: AT THE MOMENT TRADERS DO NOT SELL NAILS/FOOD/ARMOR, for a more survival feel we made base building a little more grindy than other servers for a better experience (MOD: BASE BUILDING PLUS), THERE IS NO BUIDLING NEAR PVP ZONES, HIDEOUTS, OR TRADERS (500m from Hideouts/Traders, 300m from PVP zones). Get your grind on and have fun with more of an immersive pvp building system. We have BasicTerritories/PVEZE Flag Zones. You need a flagpole to make a base & you need a flag fully raised on your pole to enable PvP. Since we use PVEZ the flags help in case you need to defend against a raid. The flag also helps keep all your items secure from poofing away. Sadly bases can be raided even with your flag pole lowered. So it’s recommended that you keep your flag pole raised.
ALL BASES HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF VEHICLES THEY CAN POSSESS! Each base can have a max of 3 Land Vehicles & 2 Helicopters (This Is To Help Prevent Lag)
PVP ZONES/PVE: All PVP Zones contain either a military spot on the map, or Custom Keycard areas, Custom Key Cards spawn randomly around the map or in airdrops/military bases/bunkers.THERE IS ABSOULETLY NO KILLING OUTSIDE PVP ZONES, what ever damage you afflict on another Survior, that damage will come back to you, this a noob/pve setting of a server so show some respect.
KEYCARDS: There many different keycards you can get but they all are different. Some have different loot, some have mixed loot. Rare keycard rooms give 10x better loot than normal military/bm loot. There Is 2 Red/Black/Violet/Green Rooms. 1 Yellow/Blue/Med Lab/White Rooms.
Right Now The Keycards Ranging From Best To Worst Are Red, Black, Yellow, White, Violet, Green, Blue, Med Laboratory. There will probably be more in the future. Red Keycard Loaded but is suuuper rare.
(NOTE: Right now please don't fly into keycard areas. We recently added helis again and some areas are possible to fly into (AI will probably shoot them down but still we want keycards to be used to access keycard areas. ALSO When you open a keycard room it will stay open until server restart because the loot crates wont reset until after restart)
THE BUNKER: Right now there is currently 1 bunker on the server. You need a White Keycard to enter it & when you enter it turns to total darkness. You'll need a light or nvgs too see anything after entering. This place is worth checking out but be careful of possible chances of Zombies/AI. The bunker is really nice for finding blackmarket items and chances decent/guns/armoammo.
TRAVEL TRADER: We recently added a trader that can change locations and also change what they Buy/Sell! The Travel Trader Can Spawn At Any Keycard Locations (Based On When I Move Them) & Trades Rare Items Other Traders Might Not Sell Or Might Buy/Sell At A Discount!
TRADERS: Traders are all around the map and they only sell certain items there. Very high powered weapons cannot be bought a civ traders, they will most likely be purchasable at Blackmarket or not purchasable at all, you will need to scavenge your way around the map if you want to be the best, there are no handouts. Normal Civ Traders will have the essentials there to survive.
AI/BOSSES: AI spawn at all keycards/hideouts except Blue/Green Keycards. They have a chance to spawn anywhere else. There are 3 Bosses on the server. Killa, Zryachiy, the Goons. Killa spawns at Red/Black/Yellow Keycards. Zryachiy spawns at Prison Island. The Goons can spawn at Red/Black/White/Med Lab. The Goons are the rarest Bosses to run into right now while Killa and Zryachiy are about the same. Killa and Zryachiy can have guards.

2023.06.10 22:15 CreamyJuicyCows I had a Design for the Homeless.
Underground housing complex, for the people without shelters. Firstly if you think about it makes the most sense, because it would get rid of all the tent issues that we see on the surface, this complex facility would cost around $45M and it's 285,650 Square feet, and approx. 450 feet below the surface. The only real way to get down would be from elevators on the entrance of the office or escalators near the elevators. The elevators will all be illuminated with Neon tube lights so it's not pitch black, the walls will be decorated with art so it's not bland.
Okay I know there's a lot of concerns regarding flooding, don't worry I got that covered. There will be drainage holes on the surface, with large vents to allow mass amounts of water to flow through, there will also be drainage holes on the inside towards the bottom. This is incase a flash flooding event will take place, the elevators will be reinforced with thick plastic so there won't be any conductivity or short circuits.
The air vents will be present throughout the entire complex forcibly pushing out stale air and bringing in fresh air from the outside via Fan units on the outside, these will also be cleared of any debris periodically.
Each housing unit will come with 1 bathroom, 1 closet, 1 bedroom and 1 living room with a kitchen equipped with a sink, fridge, and all the bare minimum for Wifi and TV.
There will be large glass panels in a Hexagonal shape toward the ceiling to allow these people to view what time of day it is and the weather conditions.
Again the only entrance is through the front office complex.
And I know what you're going to say. What about fires? A fire emergency system will be in place that will spray concentrated foam at to snuff out the flames rather than water which in certain periods fans the flames. Every unit will also be equipped with a fire extinguisher.
Give me one reason why my plan won't work?
The reason it won't work? City council members are greedy and only care about people who pay for rent. The goal here is to house the Homeless for 1 year, 12 month contract, only if they recently lost their houses or foreclosure or they were in a family situation whatever the case maybe.
What happens after 1 year are they kicked out? If they prove that they have found work and aren't doing drugs, they can have a 3 month extension.

2023.06.10 22:13 terevos2 Save 3rd Party Reddit Apps
TLDR
Reformed is going into restricted mode (read-only) on June 12 for 48 hours to join the protest against API change.
But really, read this.
What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app
permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from
Apollo to
Reddit is Fun to
Narwhal to
BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th,
many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy, including
Reformed (read below for details). Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away
permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because
we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it much more difficult to keep doing what we love.
Why is reformed joining this black out?
First, we want to make it very clear that we do NOT view this blackout as a Gospel issue. As a decent-size subreddit that is centered around Christianity, to do something like this could communicate that it is a gospel issue or that this action is representative of what Christ would want us to do, but
that is not true. This is not a spiritual issue, but one where we have Christian liberty to participate or not.
There are a number of reasons the mod team thinks we should join the blackout. Some items are higher priority than others and various mods have differing primary reasons and maybe even don’t care that much about the other reasons. So in no particular order here are a few (but not all) the reasons we’ve decided to join this blackout:
- To register our dissent with this decision and the direction this decision represents. Reddit had always been friendly towards open source, 3rd party apps, and browser extensions (RES and Mod Toolbox) until more recently. This trend might be inevitable, but it's worth an attempt to fight against it instead of simply accepting defeat immediately.
- The official app does not support accessibility on iOS and so the seeing impaired will be adversely affected by not having 3rd party apps. blind (and other seeing impaired subreddits) may not actually be able to function without the 3rd party apps that they use.
- Most of the mods and many of the members of Reformed rely on 3rd party apps for browsing. Making modding harder and making participation harder by taking away the tools that we use to participate (and mod) will result in a lower quality subreddit.
Some other notes
- We (the mods of reformed) are taking part in this blackout for the above reasons (and more). And thus you (the members of this subreddit) are affected, too, but that doesn’t mean you need to support this blackout or that we’re forcing you into a particular viewpoint here. But we are using the tools at our disposal to bring attention to an issue.
- As stated above, we do not want this to communicate something about the gospel that is not true. Use Reddit or don't, but this is primarily a business issue, not a spiritual one. If you don’t like a business or what a business is doing, you take your business elsewhere. Or if you really like that business, but there’s an issue, you might raise a complaint about it. That’s what we’re attempting to do: raise a complaint that reddit admins and execs will hear in a way consistent with the broader complaint from all of Reddit. We know we’re small, but joining in a larger complaint in the same way both aids the effort and allows us to make an impact as a smaller subreddit.
- What does “going dark” mean for reformed? Some subs are going private. However, what we’re going to do is go into restricted mode on June 12th for 48 hours. This means that you will be able to view all of reformed, but no one will be able to post or comment. (We will make an exception for the Unreached People Group of the Week - and maybe we’ll all actually read it this time! :-)
- If you need prayer and for some reason can’t ask your local church and/or pastor(s), elders, or deacons, you can always modmail and we’ll make our best efforts to pray for you.
