I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea several years AFTER I retired in 2000, although I snored and believe that I had symptoms while on AD
In 2018 I had a stroke due to a Carotid Dissection due to coughing so hard when I had the flu.. I made a 100% recovery but am now required to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life, not to mention the fucking anxiety anytime I get the slightest pain in my head
I'm currently at 70%. Both of these are well documented in my VA Medical File. I think my question is about Medical Diagnoses Post-AD.
I don't know that the Carotid Dissection that led to my stroke was caused or aggravated by anything that occurred while I was on Active Duty, but then again I don't know that it wasn't.
I have been out for 23 years and have developed a number of different medical issues from Morbid Obesity, Pitting Edema, and other bullshit. I can link some of that to AD in that knees and back cause occasional instability which causes me to limit physical exercise, I overeat to deal with lack of mobility/depression because potato chips are cheaper than heroin. In the last 2 months I have dropped 20lbs by being more mindful of my eating and trying to walk at night, and am now just a big fat fuck (obese) instead of a great big fat fuck (morbidly obese.)
Is this the kind of shit I should be discussing with a VSO instead of annoying you fuckers?

Many people want to help animals in some way. They want to help reduce the number of street dogs and help those on the street with medicine, food and shelter. They want to reduce the number of feral cats by getting more spay and neutered. They want to help increase the number of animals that are threatened with extinction. They want to help exotic animals abandoned by owners. They want to rehabilitate injured wildlife. They want to preserve habitats for wildlife. And on and on.
If you truly care about animals, then you are going to put the needs of those animals above your desire for a selfie with that animal, above your desire to pet the animal, above your desire to be able to tell your friends you got close to a lion or elephant or gorilla. If you are looking resources that will help people with no skills related to animal biology or conservation to interact with any of the aforementioned with exotic animals, you can stop reading now and look elsewhere. This page isn't going to help you volunteer locally or abroad to touch and interact with wildlife, because no credible organization allows untrained volunteers to interact with baby tigers, elephants, etc.
Ethical organizations that are working for the benefit of animals do not bring volunteers into direct contact with animals unless it is in the best interest of the animals. That means, at ethical organizations, not all candidates for volunteering are accepted (because not all candidates are appropriate), volunteers are fully evaluated to make sure they have the temperament and personality to be around animals (they are interviewed, their references are checked, etc.), they have in-depth training in working with animals or already experience or training, there are written policies about what is required of volunteers and what is inappropriate behavior, and they do work as volunteers that is actually needed and is appropriate for the animals.
Unethical organizations take anyone who applies to volunteer (they don't turn anyone away), don't interview candidates extensively (if at all), don't have written policies for working with animals or for what the grounds would be for dismissing a volunteer, have never dismissed a volunteer for inappropriate behavior, and allow most any volunteer and visitor to feed or interact with animals, just so long as they pay a fee. Unethical organizations don't list the international organizations that accredit their work, don't list their guidelines for volunteers (and those guidelines are STRICT and focused on the well-being of animals), and don't emphasize that volunteers are under the supervision of trained wildlife management experts and biologists.

For starters, original parts for this bike (Kettler Traveller e speed 9) are pretty much unavailable and / or cost as much as an electric bike itself, so "buy original X" is out of the window, sadly.
Hello! Recently my acquaintance gave me an ebike battery to rebuild since it's cells are worn out and it doesn't hold much charge anymore. On top of that the charger (smart fancypants one with two additional wires for magic data communication) crapped out because it's connector got mauled. At first I thought that's not a big deal, I'll just replace it and move the original BMS to a new custom-built pack using wiredancing (better safe than sorry!). For the record it's the technique where you connect each cell group in parallel from both old and new batterypacks with reduntant wires (while they are both at the same voltage level to avoid high currents between them) to prevent the BMS from commiting suicide because it got disconnected from it's cells. It has become certain to me that it has been tampered with before me, since there were just random damaged wires pinched between the screw parts and the elephant in the room - the whole batterypack was encased in just off-the-shelf silicone "potting" that was put in a shopping bag from a popular supermarket in my country. There is no way this came from the factory like that. Fortunately even after clearing all that mess, disconnecting the old pack and putting the new one in the original housing it seems to have worked well, the BMS still gave an output of 39V at the main discharge port (in this case the positive side is switched) reacted to the button that lights up the charge-gauge, showing around half charge. At this point I didn't have the ebike at my place, since it's just the battery / charger job. So I went over to the charger's connector, fixed up the connector aaaand... it's still dead. No power draw from mains. When I opened it up (and removed a crap ton of potting) I found the reason why - fuse and the rectifier is busted. As I specialise in SMPS repair it wasn't that big of a deal, replaced both and the charger (probably) started working again, with a tiny tiny constant mains draw (around a miliamp) and a 5V pulse appearing every second or so between one of the data cables and the ground output. I assume the smarts came back alive so I plugged it into the battery for the first time in working condition. As expected the charger "woke up", power draw went up to a few watts, it started blinking a green LED a few times and then it stopped. Further disconnect / reconnect attempts resulted in the charger blinking red lights for a change. Not a good sign. Turns out the battery is also flashing red instead of showing its state of charge. No power output too which is also a bad sign. So with both the charger and the original BMS inoperatove I turned to good old simple and stupid Daly Chinesium with an extra fuse for good measure. (The original BMS is still in the same state as it was connected into a third, different scrapped batterypack just to prevent it from actually dying-dying. Still red blinking lights though.) After the battery arrived at my friend's house it turns out that the other two data cables between the battery and bike are vital for the bike to actually turn on the assist. Instead it spits out an error code that corresponds to "faulty or counterfeit battery". I had hopes the controller wasnt smart-enough-to-be-stupid, but here we are right now. The bike is at my place, so I can tamper with the ins and outs of this electronic safety nightmare all I want.
Here are a few plans or courses of action I have in mind depending on how the bike cooperates (or doesn't). The obvious problem is that both me and the bike's owner doesn't want to overspend and we preferably want to keep the bike street-legal with a functional LCD coming with fancy stuff like the speedomer, battery level etc:
-The first plan of keeping the original BMS and charger is out the window, since you need both for it to work. Original BMS would absolutely not let the pack be charged with a dumb charger. But for now it's dead anyways, so no point in thinking about this option anyway... but there might be an option of trying to trick and convince the bike's controller that chinesium is the original. Hard to tell how well it's protected since most of the big brainy IC's on the original BMS are unmarked and their datasheets are probably proprietary, stored in some big rich businessman's pants as he laughs at all the peasants buying new batteries. I did however save what was outputted by each pin of the original battery and it might be possible to emulate it with some janky resistors and more chinesium. As long as it is not a complex digital signal it should (theoritically ne possible). I will make an update if it works.
-The second plan is to ditch the original electronics im favour of a more available universal BLDC driver with some LCD stuff, but the problem is that they usually use their hall sensor assembly to asses the RPMs and therefore the speed. Since this is a middrive the bike relies on a stupid-simple rpm sensor magnet attached to the rear wheel, so the controller would print out the speed of the motor, not the bike's, regardless of wheel RPM - and that is a function that seems to be mandatory for legal ebikes in Poland as they should not provide assist above 25km/h. Some people ditch that and unlock their bikes and I honestly don't think that's that big of an issue as long as everyone is sensible. As far as I know I don't have any way of modifying universal controllers to use that to spit out accurate speed measurements. The second problem is that the motor's controller is covered in copious amounts of potting and is probably virtually impossible to free it without damaging it, so I refrain from doing so until I absolutely need to do so. Funny thing is that the label says the motor is a 36V 250W DC motor, but I'm almost certain it is not just a brushed dc motor in a funny case. That would be a pretty weird design choice, and paradoxically even worse for me, since there are pretty much no true DC ESCs with speed limiting AND LCDs on the market.
At this point I'm not sure what else to do, if anyone has any recommendations for either tricking / reviving the original electronics or a new controller setup that would actually provide a proper speed sensing option that would be swell. Sadly we are kind of struggling against forced problems since the manufacturer does not provide accessible spare parts. I thank you for reading my input and possibly providing information, maybe someone will find themselves in a similar situation one day.

Going to try to do this without any campaign spoilers, as this is part of a paizo AP. Help me do a thorough investigation for the NPC Detective, if you wanna!
Location: In a medium-large city with very advanced tech (for Golarion), in a wealthy part of town, a very well secured & defended home was broken into. The owner of the home is missing, their defensive golems are all destroyed. Extensive damage to the house & surrounding houses.
The Law: Investigator is a level 15 diviner-wizard, one of the most respected/famous in the city. We'll call this detective "N.B." for short. She has access to virtually any pf1 spell you could think of up to 8th level. She has the money/means to learn them or acquire scrolls/wands. She has the city-guard and an army of support troops to deploy and a highly motivated aristocracy to find the assailants.
The Criminals: It's the PCs of course. They did this and are now hidden both physically & magically (via a super-secret location within the city, and a mage's private sanctum spell with permanency). They travel into and out of places via gaseous form/wind-walk so they're tough to spot and don't leave tracks.
The scene: The house is utterly destroyed. Walls flattened by a powerful explosion eminating from the largest home-guardian which was a huge construct. Blast debris includes the remains of 6 more golems/mechanical-constructs, and 2 human zombies. The blast/fire removed much of the blood that was spilled but evidence suggest someone lost a couple pints before the explosion.
Witnesses: night-witnesses (humans) report high-winds, and flying debris (torn roof shingles) in a 200-300' sort of 'globe' over the home during the attack.
Any ideas welcome!

Hi Everyone-
We recently bought and moved into a home (in a VHCOL area) with a small "cottage" on the property. The cottage is a living space and bathroom - no kitchen - so doesn't qualify as an ADU.
We are considering renting the cottage but no one would rent it as is (prior owner didn't upkeep that well) and we would need to fix several issues: repair dry wall, update the bathroom fixtures (leaking and old), and possibly some other issues that come up.
Our tax preparer indicates that most of this would not be tax deductible but rather add to value and so it would be depreciated. We are in CA/USA and are in the highest tax bracket and have quite a lot of passive income annually (150-200k) that we have been paying ~50% tax on for years without a great way to offset.
Any good ideas on how we can perhaps structure the repairs/updates in the best tax advantaged way?

I’ve been a closing agent for a small title company in my town for almost two years. I previously worked here from 2009-2016, and then got roped back in last year to take this position (with zero experience).
My boss has always been really good to me, I think (my husband and in-laws believe otherwise), aside from not being entirely thorough in his description of this job when I agreed to take it and just kind of throwing me in the deep end with very little training (not even by him, but by the previous two people to have this job since he doesn’t even know what I do. Seriously.)
He is a fourth generation owner of this company and is retiring this year. He doesn’t have any kids that want to continue the business, so he’s either looking to sell it or just close the doors and see what happens, basically. There is another bigger title company that has expressed interest, but the owner has been somewhat wishy-washy with his communication, so my boss isn’t banking on them. The plan is for him to officially announce his retirement at the beginning of next month and to stop taking new business in September.
Personally, I do not want to stay here, even if we do get bought out. I hate this field and really want to try to find something different, but I would feel bad abandoning my boss since I’m the ONLY employee that does this job and he wouldn’t know what to do with everything if I just up and left.
What are my options?

I just found out about this sub so I thought I'd ask for advice. I posted the same text in pcmasterrace and only got one answer. Hope it's ok
I've been trying to find a suitable monitor for a while and honestly, I can't choose one. I wanna play games like RDR2 but I don't know if color depth is more important or contrast.
I've found four monitors. 3 are VA and the other one is an IPS. All the VAs have a contrast of 3000:1 but have an 8-bit color depth. The IPS has a contrast of 1000:1 but has a 10-bit color depth. Which one is more important?
All the VAs have a refresh rate of 165hz and IPS has 170hz, which I honestly don't think is that big of a difference. They're all 27". Also, they're all 2560 by 1440.
Below are the names and the prices (prices in my country's currency)
(IPS) ASUS TUF gaming VG27AQ1A : 17.5Mil
ASUS TUF gaming VG27WQ : 17.5Mil
ASUS ROG Strix XG27WQ : 21.5Mil
BenQ Mobiuz EX2710R : 26Mil
On Amazon, the first ASUS has the highest, and the BenQ has the lowest ratings, but I don't know how much that reflects their quality.
Please help, I'm kinda stuck and I don't wanna make a choice I'll regret later.

I read a bit in the Screwtape Letters where he basically said the two definitions of being unselfish are caring for others, or not being a burden to others (the implication being that, at least in his opinion, the former definition is more Christ-like). My mother seems to use the latter definition, she’s told me she thinks she’s being good because she doesn’t talk too much about her illness, but she also gets mad when she thinks I don’t understand how sick she is. It’s one of those mystery illnesses, she’s self-diagnosed it as different things at different times (she has given up on seeing doctors, prefers books and YouTube doctors/naturopaths saying the right diet/supplements/lifestyle/alternative therapy will fix your problem). It’s even more confusing because one day she’ll tell me how much she’s improved in X area, then like a week later angrily tells me how terrible she feels and I should know she almost never has a good day even though I know she had a good day like a week ago. It makes me feel like I’m losing my mind, but that’s not the main problem.
I’ve struggled with my own health issues, mainly stemming from a seizure disorder, and she’s felt increasingly free to tell me how much of a burden this has been to her, even once told me that she thought the stress of caring for me years ago when I was doing a lot worse precipitated her illness, though I don’t know if she still believes that.
Then she started telling me how much of an emotional burden it is when I’ve lost jobs (I never ask her for money, though there have been some months when I wasn’t able to contribute much in rent), which is really painful since I got laid off the months ago and am really stressed about it.
More recently I mentioned that my stepbrother (father’s side) said he wanted to try and avoid letting his small kids meet his father’s stream of girlfriends because they’d keep getting attached and then ripped away, so she used this opportunity to tell me how stressful my dating has been, introducing her to my boyfriends only to eventually break up a few months later (which seems kind of rich since she’s had a lot more boyfriends than I have since my parents divorced at age 12, and I think I met all but one of hers, also I typically go at least a couple years between boyfriends so there haven’t been a ton of them).
She kept saying she wanted a second dog to be more of a lapdog than my current one, I finally gave in and got one, but she turned out to be younger and more puppyish than expected, so my mother started complaining and saying how her energy was too stressful and vacillated between wanting me to get rid of her and being willing to give her some time to mature (the dog has improved a ton in the past 8 months).
I naturally like to talk things out to solve problems and figure out what to do, but she’s started telling me it’s stressful when I start making a plan and then change my mind. Practically my whole life I’ve felt like a burden due to my health issues, which have caused me to struggle in school and holding down a job, so to have her say more and more often that “yes, you are a burden” is so painful. When I’ve tried to apologize for some of it, she’s just been like, “Yeah, you have caused me pain” and then left it at that. I don’t even feel like asking her to stop would make me feel any better because now I know she feels this way. I don’t know how to stop feeling weighed down by so much guilt when I can’t get any sort of forgiveness from her, and I don’t feel like I can talk to anyone because I don’t want to speak disrespectfully about her especially to people she might see. She wasn’t always like this, and I know sick people tend to lash out, but that doesn’t help the pain. I can’t mesh the fifth commandment or 1 Timothy 5:8 with the idea of trying to cut her off in some way, and I know what financial support I can provide helps her a lot since she hasn’t been able to work in years.
