2023.06.05 05:16 Dan_Stainberg [Election] [Retro]Canada Elects 2025: A Real Miracle?

[M]/Doing retro just in case, coz it took me much longer to lay this out lol/[M]

Canadian Federal Elections 101

Canada has inherited its political system from the United Kingdom, sticking to Westminster parliamentary system ever since. This means, that unlike in the United States, the outcome of Canadian elections are won by whichever party manages to elect the greatest number on Member of Parliament to the House of Commons of Canada, allowing the leader of this party to assume the office of Prime Minister.
The Senate of Canada provides for a stark contrast, since despite being originally designed to ensure provincial representation, the upper house remains unelected and is largely subjected to the politics in the House of Commons.
When no party is able to secure more than 50 per cent of seats in the House, a leader of a political party that is able to command more than 50 per cent of MPs, for example through singing supply and confidence or coalition agreements with other parties, becomes Prime Minister instead. Historically, however, the largest party in the House of Commons tends to form a monitory government, when it commands a plurality of MPs, rather than an outright majority. This allows the largest party to remain in power, but it has to rely on MPs from other political factions to pass crucial pieces of legislation, especially when it comes to votes that indicate parliamentary confidence, such as federal budgets. Losing those votes, would effectively mean that the current government has to either be completely re-staffed with new Cabinet Ministers, or call a snap election.
However, minority governments remained fairly uncommon in Canada, since the current voting system, called First-Past-the-Post (FPTP), allows for individual MPs to win their respective ridings - also known as constituencies - to be elected into the House of Commons with a simple plurality of votes. Thus, a political party can win most seats in the House of Commons through strategically placing their bets on ridings with very tight margins, where just one extra vote may allow their nominee to win a permanently seat, effectively making all votes for the opposition candidate in that riding meaningless.

General Backgrounder

For example, the Liberal Party of Canada has won the last two federal elections with a plurality of seats in the House of Commons, despite coming only 2nd to the Conservative Party of Canada during popular vote. The Liberals, despite becoming the largest party in the House still fell short of winning the majority of seats, being forced to rely on the New Democratic Party, that represented are more progressive social democratic part of the electorate, for crucial votes. Later, the Government has called a snap election aiming to get their desired majority, but failed, and had to sign a formal Supply and Confidence Agreement with the NDP, that included a massive package of social programmes, such as the recently implemented national dental care and prescription drug insurance.
However, while enjoying a steady lead in polls vis-a-vis, the federal Conservatives during the pandemic, the Liberals had experienced persistent slump as post-pandemic recovered coupled with sticky inflation and rapidly deteriorating housing crisis. As the Federal Conservatives have moved to the right following the election of a new leader, they have utilised concurrent economic challenges and liberal economic policy, blaming the current government's pandemic related emergency spending coupled with expansion of social programs as the root cause for inflation into collapsing housing affordability. As Canada had to respond to America's Inflation Reduction Act with a new public investment into green transition, conservative criticism of the Trudeau government has become ever more vocal, with fiscal deficits presumably exacerbating, concurrent inflationary pressures.
Liberal policies, especially introducing the federal backstop mechanism for carbon pricing, has also spurred, vicious opposition, among Conservatives, especially those living in the Western Canada, that culminated in the razor-thin re-election of the United Conservatives in the oil-producing province of Alberta. The federal response to the freedom, convoy protest, as well as the general push, forever wider collective community during the pandemic, has created some fertile soil for the opposition, Conservatives to capitalise on, especially as the more moderate leader of the party had been ousted shortly after the convoy protest.
After more than eight years in government, the liberal party has also been embroiled in several corruption and ethics candles, including the SNC-Lavallin affair, the pandemic-era ArriveCan App scandal, and, most recently, the accusations of Chinese electoral interference, and Chinese police stations operating in Canada.
In fact, the situation for the current government has become so dire. It's a point, but more than 80% of forecasters projected a Conservative minority government has the most probable outcome for the next election. According to some polls, the Liberals would be unable to form a government, even with the support of the New Democratic Party. The liberal convention in late spring 2023, didn't provide much of a relief either, how's the party continued to lack a comprehensive platform to combat the issue of housing and affordability - something that steadily climbed the rate of priorities for many Canadians, to become the most pressing issue, when deciding who to vote for. If anything, the Conservative party has become the most popular political force, among younger Canadians, with their laser, sharp focus on the issue of inflation and housing affordability.
The issue of housing affordability has become central to the Conservative Convention, where the Party has committed to "restoring" home ownership across the country, through planning laws deregulation and "removing resections on the supply of housing". This would see the federal government to tie federal spending on housing to municipalities shortening approval times, waive HST/GST for housing, as well as allow landlords to re-invest their profits into new housing tax-free. The Conservative convention also proposed federal infrastructure funding to be linked to higher-density housing construction.
What did, however, play in favour of the current government, what is the time. Within Canadian Parliamentary system, the Prime Minister can call an election effectively anytime, so long their term doesn't exceed the four year threshold, that was approaching at Fall 2025, supported by the Supply and Confidence Agreement with New Democrats. As inflation in North America has started slowly subsiding to return to the 2% target in early fall 2024, Trudeau has managed to re-gain some the economic credibility his government has seemingly lost. The Liberals have also continued their tilt to make some inroads into the NDP camp, with the Federal Budget 2024 going heavily on Net Zero and Green Transition.
However, the Liberals also had to deal with a political deadline, whether to call and election before or after the Budget 2025 would've been published. The former might allow the LPC to avoid the criticism of "buying up votes" that the party received after calling the snap election shortly after introducing their Federal Budget in 2021. However, Trudeau also had a stake at deferring the election for long as possible, hoping that waiving inflationary pressure might open up more space for the Liberals to re-gain the economic ground over the Conservatives.

Federal Election 2025

After long deliberation, the federal Cabinet has opened to hold an election in late March 2025, right at the time when a government would have normally tabled their budget. The election that both the Liberals and the Conservatives have approached after almost a year or neck-and-neck perforce in the polls, with Trudeau having a minuscule advantage in personal ratings.
The economy, especially housing affordability, have become two main issues during this election, closely followed by healthcare - namely access to family physicians and waiting times for selected procedures - and the issue of inflation still lingering at the back of the public debate.
Trudeau himself because a matter for the debate, with the Liberals banking on his personal likability, while Federal Conservatives continuously pressed with corruption and ethical scandals and corruption allegations, combined with the Liberal campaign continuously bringing up the "electability issue" of their opponents.

Housing

With the Tories enjoying slight lead on the matter of economic competence, the Liberals opted to treat the housing crisis as a matter of social policy, while banking heavily on personal popularity of Trudeau himself. From the policy-standpoint, LPC Election Platform has effectively copied the proposal originally voiced during the Conservative Convention. Namely, waiving GST/HST for housing construction, allowing landlords to re-invest their profits into constructing more units tax-free, as well as linking federal spending to new housing development and liberalising permitting process. The difference with the Conservatives was the focusing on new federal spending to combat housing affordability.
Liberal election promises involved the commitment for new federal housing construction to exceed population growth by the end of the first term, through the government directly contracting private developers to build more affordable housing, and task the Canada Infrastructure Development Corporation to provide funding to non-market housing in numbers meeting or exceeding population growth in larger metropolitan areas on Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and across Atlantic Canada.
Unlike the Tories, Trudeau also went further, promising the government would cover development charges for projects that included affordable housing. The Liberals have also committed to conducting of affordable rental housing, aimed at younger Canadians and those who are yet to start cloning the property ladder. Conservatives on the other hand emphasised Trudeau's poor track on housing affordability, combined focusing on making home ownership more affable through market-driven construction of new units for sale.
Both Team Blue and Team Red have committed to expediting the arrival of new skilled trades professionals, especially those working in the housing sector, including interest-free loans to have their qualifications recognised or to up-skill their existing credentials. Liberals however, took a step further, promising automatic Permanent Residency who has worked in residential construction after 1 year, as well issuing Open Work Permits - exempt from the Labour Market Impact Assessment - to anyone with construction work experience willing to come to Canada, so long they continue working in the construction sector for the majority of their time before obtaining permanent residency. The Tories on their part suggested granting PR automatically after they've worked in construction for at least 5 years.
On the matter of banning foreign buyers, both parties have committed to banning home purchases in Canada for those who do not hold Canadian citizenship or are not Permanent Residents of Canada, with Liberals maintaining existing exemptions, so long the person buying has invested an equivalent amount in affordable housing construction.
Rhetorically, the Liberals have echoed the National Housing Act 1938, suggesting their government would run fiscal deficits to finance nation-wide home construction, especially affordable rental units. CPC has openly accused Trudeau of "policy stealing" choosing to emphasis permitting deregulation, subsidies for new units, and investing more construction professionals.

Healthcare & Social Care

Federal Conservatives have focused their attack in increasing waiting times, as well as increasing shortage of medical professionals across the country. Liberals, however, aimed to conservative proposals to introduce more private providers into the system, while emphasising their expansion of public health insurance that now covers both dental care and prescription drugs. Both parties suggested increasing the immigration intake for doctors, nurses, medical researches, providing financial support to have their credentials recognised in Canada as well as to update their skills.
The Liberals have however suggested lowering tuition rates international students who come to study health, social care, and eduction, granted them access to domestic rates of tuition, as well as a designated pathway to Permanent Residency for health, eduction, and social care who have obtained at least 1560 hours of Canadian work experience, and received at least part of their eduction in Canada. This would come as a supplementary measure, with domestic students becoming eligible for federal student loan write off if they have accumulated at least 1 year of post-graduation work experience in health, social care, or education - so long their degree is in the same field.
The Liberals have also committed to covering a Royal Commission to introduce a national social care insurance programme for seniors and people with disabilities.

The Economy

The Conservatives suggest introducing "full expensing" allowing companies to deduct up 120 per cent of their expenses on machinery, equipment, and non-residential property, akin to UK's Super Deduction, to combat Canada's low investment levels. They also propose to introduce tax credits for Canadian companies to up-skill their workers, as well as increased federal funding to provinces to support job training and second career programmes and labour market integration.
The Liberals suggest increasing the minimum wage in federally-regulated institutions, linking as a proportion of executive pay. LPC also pledged to introduce at least 4 weeks of paid vacation after 1 year on employment, with additional increases in line with employee tenure, as outlined in their Convention 2023, while brining paid leave of up to 6 weeks a year, allowing recipients to tradition onto disability payments after that.
Both parties have committed to supporting Employee Ownership Trusts, as well as introduction of worker representation on corporate boards in federally-regulated industries. Team Red however to it a step further, suggesting they will employee ownership mandatory for large corporations , with the only exemption provided for profit-sharing schemes.
Both parties have also supported reforming Canada's Employment Insurance Program:
The Conservatives suggest introducing Individual EI Savings Accounts that any Canadian can access whenever they are let go of their job or decide to quit. The proposed accounts would be funded through mandatory employer and employee contributions and could also be used to pay for labour training and re-skilling, with means-tested federal assistance available for those who's exhausted their accounts. Tories also suggest expanding current marginal earnings projection to apply to both individual and household income. The party also suggests waiving EI Premiums and provide rebates for C/QPP Contribution rebates to those not paying federal income tax, to guarantee every Canadian can earn at least $1000 a month free of payroll deductions.
Trudeau on the other hand suggested making EI coverage universal, and providing up to 90 per cent wage replacement in the first month of claim, while also introducing EI Benefit Floor, where every Canadian would be entitled to a minimum benefit equal to federal minimum wage regardless of their original earnings, for as long as they have enough insurable hours. The Liberal plan also introduces expands "working while on claim" provision, allowing people collecting EI benefits to have their wages supplemented through the program so their total paycheque reaches at least 90 per cent of their average 5-year earnings at all times, regardless whether the claimant is eligible for EI Regular Benefits. EI Parental Benefits are set to be fixed at at least 60 per cent of the family's income, subject o the benefit floor. Liberals suggest paying for the programme through waiving maximum insurable earnings to levy EI Premiums on all income of an individual, while introducing cap on benefits linked to median regional wages. However, the basic exemption shall be aligned to the federal income tax minimum threshold. Surpluses generated should be used to pay for expanded WWoC provisions and putting EI Operating Account back into surplus.
Both parties also committed to brining in a Canada Savers' Credit that mirrors both the amounts and eligibly criteria of the GST/HST tax credit, but is instead deposited in people's Tax Free Savings Accounts (TFSAs) and automatically invested into corporate equity. Tories and Liberals also support introducing automatic enrolment for Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs), Registered Eduction Savings Plans (RESPs), Registered Disability Savings Plans (RDSP), First Homebuyer Savings Accounts (FHSAs) and TFSAs upon either birth of obtaining Canadian tax residency for eligible non-Canadians. While the Conservative proposal would new accounts automatically linked to existing financial institutions the individual already has an account in, the Liberals instant new accounts should be automatically assigned to a new independent crown corporation, so long the primary account holder haven't decided to the move their registered accounts to an eligible financial institution.
Both parties pitch the policy as a potential interim solution to address Canada's sky-high household debt, through increased asset ownership and participation in stock markets.
When it comes to fiscal policy, the Liberal Government suggests they'll keep their "structural deficit" - as defined by tax revenues versus programme expedites - bellow the rate of economic growth over the 10 year period. LPC however is open they'll not restrain their spending on new housing construction, Ottawa set to absorb almost all the costs of housing under the liberal plan. The Conservatives on the other hand suggest introducing the $1 for $1 rule for federal expenditure, where every dollar of new spending has to be offset by a dollar in spending cuts or increased taxes, suggesting to balance the budget in their first 5 years in the office.
Somewhat comically, the Liberals seem to be attacking Conservative proposals on the grounds it may bring back the pain on the nighties - referring to the Chretien austerity era - especially in Atlantic Canada and the Regions of Quebec where benefit dependency ratios have traditionally been elevated.
The Liberals have also committed to expand existing childcare agreements, to make childcare services and spare available to anyone, and drastically reduce wait times for subsidised spots.

Energy & Environment

The issue has surprisingly played a somewhat muted role during this election, as CPC has contained to opposed federal price on carbon, pressuring the idea of turning Canada into a "natural resource superpower". Liberals on the other hand boasted about their massive investment into Net Zero Transition, while also attacking the Tories one potential fiscal penalties that the government would assume after cancelling the carbon tax. Team Red had also opened to cling to previous commitments of the Conserve Leader to ban overseas oil, which Ontario, and Quebec, as well as Atlantic Canada remain fairly dependent on, due to lack of oil transportation infrastructure from western oil production facilities. Considering the fact Quebec has remained one of Liberal strongholds even at the lowest, as well as the party's perceived electability in the province, CPC would've had even harder to fight for the votes in Quebec.

Tipping the Scales

However, what truly decided this election, was something that may in the future divide the country even more, namely the issue of the French language. Something that has been present in Canadian politics for generations, but something that this time brought a party over the finish line, while completely tanking their opponents.
While both leaders fluent in French, having French Canadian roots, combined with an almost unchallenged dominance of the local Bloc Québécois, it seemed quite unlikely either party would be able to gain any meaningful advantage in Quebec, until both parties have revealed their election manifestos.
Here was the moment the Liberals played their cards best. Namely, the party has committed to supplying French language both within and outside Quebec, through drastically bolstering access to Francophone eduction across the country. The Liberals has committed to introducing a brand-new federal agency tasked with facilitating access to French eduction and integration services - Francisation Canada.
The agency was set to provide free-at-use eduction in French, while also providing up to $1000 a month in finical assistance to immigrants who were willing to learn French. On top of that, the Liberals have committed to make existing Explore and Odyssey Programme universal, integrating them into school curriculums across the country. The Party has also committed to negotiating bilateral agreements with all provinces to provide additional funding and guarantee access to services, including eduction in French across Canada, while making French a mandatory subject for Early Learning & Childcare, as well as in secondary education. LPC would also waive tuition fees for post-secondary eduction in French, and negotiate agreements with other francophone countries, to facilitate French-speaking immigration into Canada and Quebec.

Conclusion

Thus, on the night of the election, the sudden realisation waived through the country. The Liberal Party managed to protect their urban ridings, even in West, as their pledge to "spend whether it takes to make houses and rents affordable for everyone" managed to persuade swing urban voters across the country, combined with their massive investment in green transition. The Tories has also lost their lead in Atlantic Canada, where an idea of a massive EI expansion has resonated with voters much more than the concept of individual accounts. Massive subsidies in battery production have also helped the Liberals to protect their seats across Ontario, especially in former industrial towns. However, what actually brought Trudeau over the finish line, was Quebec. The Combination of absolutely massive investments into green tech, coupled with new social programs, and proposed childcare expansion, on top of the Liberal pledge to "protect and promote the French language from Coast to Coast to Coast" allowed the party to make some significant inroads across the province, despite loosing some suburban ridings, Central Canada gave Trudeau yet another chance to form yet another minority Liberal government.

2023.06.05 05:15 GandalfTheWhite12568 Questions after in-home euthanasia

We made the tough choice to euthanize our 12 year-old bichon frise yesterday after witnessing his health decline rapidly, including a severe loss of muscle mass, due to widespread cancer in his pancreas, lungs, and liver. We opted for in-home euthanasia because of the intense anxiety he experienced going to vet clinics.
We had tried giving him gabapentin to manage pain over the past two weeks, but it was hit-or-miss when tricking him to take it. However, in the two days before the appointment, we were able to get his full doses down in a stroke of good fortune.
On the day of his appointment, he had a full dose of gabapentin given around 3 1/2 hours before, and was very drowsy when the vet arrived (we did not give him trazodone because of previous bad reactions of nausea and vomiting). I communicated to veterinary staff when booking the appointment that he didn't do well at the vet and experienced intense anxiety and fear.
The vet opted to perform a two-step procedure, in which he would be sedated first and then given the lethal dose. Unfortunately, he reacted poorly to the intramuscular injection of the sedative, and cried out, which was an intense juxtaposition to the peace he had moments before. (Wish the vet had warned about this possibility.) Because of this shock, I've been feeling guilty that I didn't ask enough questions and wondering if a better, pain-free protocol may have been indicated. What are the pros/cons of subcutaneous vs. intramuscular? Could a subcutaneous injection have been less painful? Could a stronger pain killer have been given that morning to allay injection pain? I'm just wracked with guilt that the perfect celebration of his life over the past few days had to be punctuated by that cry, even if the pain was no more than a sting and soon erased by the medicine.

2023.06.05 05:12 focal_m3 Muji Aluminum (F)

Muji Aluminum (F)
Amature artist just getting into fp's after using technical pens for a couple years and falling in love with the whole process and engineering of these pens.
So, a week ago I had 0 fountain pens. After lots of research and drooling, I now have 3 with the addition on this Muji and 3 more in various states of shipping along with several inks.
I like the Muji a lot. It's as crisp and smooth as the Safari with the consistent and predictable line width of my ECO-T. It's light but sturdy with a sleek minimalist design, so, the polar opposite of my TWSBI haha. 2 things that take some getting used to are the grip, which is nicely knurled but wouldve preferred it to me rougher or sharper as it still gets a lil slick after my hand heats up. And my other two have a triangular section so its easy to keep my point orientation while this, along with many other fp's I'll be buying/receiving is perfectly round. I never had to worry about it with fine liners or tech pens so it's something I'll train myself to be conscience of.
The one I'm most excited about is the Sailor Compas 1911 Olive on the way. It'll be my first offering from a brand that makes "executive level" pens so, high hopes for that one and what I can art with it. 😁
I was warned about this rabbit hole but still cannon-balled into it. Thx everyone.

2023.06.05 05:08 Calis80 Custodes Neuro synergy?

Rereading End and the Death and again I noticed the term Neuro Synergy used several times to describe how Custodes communicate. I went through other Custodes books Emperors Legion, Master of Mankind, Gates of Bone etc and there is no other mention of it. Nothing in the codex that I recall either. It appears to be a new thing Abnett had introduced.
Evidently Custodes have some sort of limited telepathy which allows them to communicate with other Custodes. It’s mentioned several times most notably when Amon confronts the Wardens and asks about clarification of orders.
“‘Directives have been issued,’ says Harahel. ‘Confirmation of those directives may be obtained from the captain-general.’ ‘Obtain them,’ says Amon. ‘This is not currently possible. Captain-General Valdor is unavailable.’ ‘Obtain them via neuro-synergetics.’ ‘This is not currently possible,’ says Aedile-Marshal Harahel. ‘Captain-General Valdor is not present on Terra, and neuro-synergetic link is unviable.’
Later on when Valdor and his strike team land on the Vengeful Spirit you get this
“The others in the company strike. Their reactions could not be faster; reflexes that would shame mere Astartes. From pre-flare precipitation through materialisation through first daemon murders to their first kills, barely six nanoseconds pass. They are at pitched combat instantly, without prelude or warning, like pict-footage edited to play from the middle of battle. They are moving and killing before Geliden hits the deck, before the pieces of Astricol begin to separate, before Valique starts screaming. Constantin Valdor truncates the daemon he appears face to face with. His power sword is in and through the thing before it can react. Its head – massive, horned, manged with disease – is still grinning in anticipation as it is sheared off its shoulders. Valdor doesn’t need to speak. His command over his Custodes is partly wordless neuro-synergy, and partly decades of relentless drill and rehearsal. The company moves as one thing, like a troupe of gymnasts, their performance at once both precise choreography and acutely nuanced reaction. Their conditioning and combat formats are cured into them, practised to the point of objective perfection, but the expression of them is ordained, demi-second by demi-second, by Valdor’s neural cues. He doesn’t need to speak because there is no need for verbal command, and because there is nothing to say anyway.”
It’s mentioned 7 times in the novel and best described by this quick exchange when two Custodes switch stations and one just touches the other in passing
“The forehead touch is not a greeting, or a gesture of respect, it is merely a rapid neurosynergetic transfer that instantly acquaints Dolo Lamora with the circumstantial detail of Caecaltus’ vacated post, as though he had been standing there himself all this while. Uzkarel Ophite does not look up to watch Caecaltus go, nor does he look up to see Dolo Lamora arrive. He is simply aware of the situational change. His concentration and alert remain pure.”
So evidently a mere touch can relay all pertinent information from one Custodes to another. Furthermore there seems to be a range limit but it’s also able to transfer information and commands over a distance as evidenced by the Valdor passage and this when Sanguinius is confronted by a Custodian.
“He is aware of the others now. Four other senior Sentinels, summoned no doubt by the proconsul’s neurosynergetics, have arrived behind him in complete silence.”
Am I missing something? This seems to be a new thing and may explain why tho it looks like Custodes fight individually they are actually so in tune with each other that they instinctively cover each others blindsides without any need of communication.
Also did a quick calc. 6 nanoseconds from teleport in to first demons dead is absolutely insane. There are one billion nanoseconds in a second. We have examples of Custodes reacting in nanoseconds before but never given an exact number it’s always been vague. There reaction times here are basically light speed. As light travels roughly one foot per nanosecond. Assuming the Custodes appear within 6 feet of the the first demon kills that’s almost exactly light speed movement.

2023.06.05 05:06 JoshAsdvgi The Monster Bird

The Monster Bird

The Monster Bird
This version of the legend comes from Pliny Earle Goddard's 1917 collection Chipewyan Texts.

In the beginning, two young men secured some geese and tied them to their canoe so that they might be drawn through the water by them.
The young men lay down in the canoe, saying to the geese, " Take us wherever your land may be."
When they stood up, they found the geese full grown.
As they were without food, they killed them, built a fire, and cooked and ate them, and when they had finished their meal, continued their journey.
After they had gone a long distance, they again found themselves without food.
Some wolves came to them and fed them with fat and pemmican.
" Do not eat it all," the wolves admonished them, "leave some to eat in the morning after you have slept."
The wolves also gave them arrows but cautioned them as to their use and said, " If you should shoot grouse, after a time, and the arrow sticks a short way up in a tree, do not climb up to get it."
The young men resumed their journey.
After a time, one of them shot grouse and his arrow fell rather high on a tree.
Not heeding the warning of the wolves, he said to his companion, " I am going to get it." " No," said the other, "the wolves told us not to do that."
Thinking the arrow was not very high, he stood on something and reached toward it.
The arrow moved still further out of his reach and the young man involuntarily ascended toward the sky after it.
The one who had ascended to the sky traveled alone until he came where a tipi stood.
He found an old woman there who blackened his face with a coal.
He heard two girls laughing in the brush behind the house.
When they came in, they said, " Mother, what sort of a bad animal has come here? "
They laughed at him a long time, and then went out again into the brush.
The old woman immediately washed his face and combed his hair.
Soon he heard the girls talking again, saying, "We will go in again and laugh at that thing which came."
As soon as they came in each said, "I would like to have that man.
I will marry him."
That night, one lay down on either side of him.
After a time, when the man woke up, he found he was under the ground and could not move.
ln the morning, he heard the family going away.
He heard the two girls laughing as they started; but the old woman was crying, and saying to herself, "
They have done that way to many nice men who have come to me."
Not long after that he heard some wolves coming to the campsite. "What has happened?" one of them said,
"There is the smell of a live man."
One of the wolves, named EbedahoLtihe, was addressed, " There is a man under the ground.
We will take him out.
Go and get the partly chewed bone we left behind the old camp."
The man heard someone tapping with a spear on the ground as he ran along.
Soon he heard the same sounds as the wolf returned.
They tried to dig with the rib which he had brought, but it broke. "Get something else," he heard him say.
He went again and brought the leg bone of a moose which has the two side bones and dew claws.
That did not break and with it they soon dug the man out.
Then he found it was the wolves who had done all this.
The wolves then gave him two arrows and directions for their use.
" This arrow is female," one of them said, "and this one is male.
If when you hunt, a cow moose runs away into the brush, you must shoot this female arrow toward the place.
But if a bull moose runs into the brush, shoot in that direction with the male arrow.
When you have killed a moose, take the intestines and tie them back and forth on a tree.
Then you must tell one of the girls that you have left a rope with which she shall carry the moose.
If her rope breaks and she begins to curse we will attend to her should we hear her saying, 'mean wolf.'"
Then the man went on, following the tracks of the women.
When he came close to them, he began to hunt.
Seeing where a cow moose had run into the brush, he shot the female arrow.
Where a bull moose had run in, he shot the male arrow.
He found that each of his arrows had killed a moose.
He then went where the people had camped and said to the two girls, " Go and get the moose I have killed."
To one of the girls whose name was Weasel-vermin he said, " You need not take a rope with you, for I have left one for you."
He told the other girl called Mice-vermin, to take a rope.
The girls started for the moose, the man following along with them.
When they came near the place where the moose were lying, he said to Weasel-vermin, "You get the one that is over there."
He found that each of the girls was accustomed to carry an entire moose on her back at one time.
Weasel-vermin found that he meant the intestines when he told her that he left a rope hanging in the tree for her.
When she attempted to carry the moose whole with it, the rope began to break.
She began to curse and finally said, "mean wolf."
Immediately, he heard her running in a circle and shouting.
When he came to the place, he found only some human hair lying there, and the marks on the snow where the body had been dragged away.
He ran immediately to the other girl and pulled her clothes off.
Mice ran under the snow.
He found that she was a mouse and the other girl a weasel.
After that, she became a person and married the man.
The man lived there with his mother-in-law.
He remained there for considerable time.
He killed many moose but did not know what became of the skins of the moose which he killed.
His mother-in-law had dressed just one of them.
After a time, she said to him, " Your relatives are lonesome and I do not like that.
There is a hole through the sky here ahead of us.
Let us go there."
When they came to the place, she wrapped the man in the one moose hide she had dressed.
He found that she had made rope of the other hides.
With the rope she lowered the man. "When you feel yourself touching the ground," she told him, "you must untie the rope and pull it several times."
After a time, he thought he felt the ground under him.
He crawled out of the hide, pulled the rope repeatedly, and it disappeared toward the sky.
When he looked about he was astonished to find that he was not yet on the ground but on the nest of the flying things which feed upon people.
Human bones were lying about.
A young one of the birds was sitting there.
He took a liking to the man and said to him, "I usually eat people but you shall live.
Sit here under my wings."
The bird was so large that a person could hide under it.
Soon it spoke to him again, saying, "After a while, it will be dark as if it were night.
It will be my mother coming.
When it becomes light again, my father will come." After a short time it grew dark, and the mother bird lit there.
She said to the young one, " I smell a human odor coming from you." "Oh, its the human remains lying there which you brought," the young one told its mother.
"No, it is not. It is the odor of a living person, which I smell coming from you," the mother replied.
When she had found the man, the young one said, " You shall not do anything to him, he will live.
If you kill him you must kill me too."
After a time it became light again and the father bird arrived.
He said the same things to the young one and received the same replies.
On account of that the man was allowed to live.
When they had both gone off again, the young one said to the man, " I am going to put my wings on you.
You shall fly across."
The man found that the nest was on an island and that there were rapids on either side in the large stream flowing there.
The bird put the wings on the man saying to him, " Fly around here until you are sure you can fly across."
The man flew about the nest a little way until he felt certain he could fly across the stream.
"Do not put my wings right on the ground, lean them against a tree," the young bird told him.
"On your way home, do not travel at night.
Even if you think you have not far to go, lie down wherever night overtakes you."
Then the man flew across from the nest, took off the wings, and leaned them against a tree. From there he started toward the place where his relatives used to live.
He came where a heaver had his house and commenced to dig it out.
After a time, it became dark without his knowing it. "
The house is not far away.
I will not sleep here since it is so close by," he said to himself and started on although it was dark.
As he walked along, he carried his spear with which he had been chiseling for the beaver. Suddenly, he felt himself being taken up into the air without visible cause.
He found that Hotei, bale, the bird monster, had taken him away.
When he had been carried a long distance, above a high rock he was thrown down upon it. Catching the top of the rock with the spear, he jumped over it and saved himself.
Again, he was caught and carried away.
When he was thrown again upon a sharp rock, he placed the end of his spear against it and jumped over it.
He found that this rock was covered on both sides with dried human blood where the people had been killed.
He was carried, still alive, to the young bird.
When the young one saw him it said, "This is my grandchild, that I love.
This is the one I said you must not kill.
If you kill it, you must kill me too." For that reason he was not killed. " You shall remain here," the young one said to him, and he lived there with him.
When he had been there some little time, he began to think how he might kill them.
They slept only in the daytime.
He placed a quantity of hay and small brush on the tree under the nest.
When there was much of it there, the old one said, "Grandson, why are you doing that?" "Oh, I am playing with it," he replied.
After some time he spoke to the old bird, " Grandfather, let me have your firedrill.
I want to play with it."
He addressed HoteLbale, as Grandfather.
He was given the firedrill.
Then when they were asleep, during the day, he set the brush and hay on fire and burned the nest with them in it.
They lay with their wings all burned.
Taking a club he struck the old birds on the crowns of their heads and killed them, but he let the young one live, rubbing the burned portions of its wings away.
He said to it, " If you had been the only one, I would not have done it; but your parents have killed many of my relatives."
After that, there were no such monsters but the young one was still alive.
Someone has recently heard from the west that it has grown again.
A man who has knowledge of something magical does not get killed.

2023.06.05 05:02 Checked-Out13 White 2, Attempt 3, Update 3

I just realized I never updated before I went into Planning and Grinding for Burgh! So, here’s what happened after I caught Glitch the Magnemite at Virbank Complex.
While grinding, I went against the Complex Workers, and one had a Riolu with Counter. I didn’t know that. So when Cheeks the Patrat hit it REALLY hard (like 3/4-4/5), a Counter OHKOd. The first death. I am realizing that not only is Patrat the hardest early route Unova pokemon to grind (it needs so much more EXP than others for each level), but they are also severe Glass Cannons. Which is a big surprise because I remember they were kinda rough to fight as a kid, and Watchog was a run killer in Black and White with Lenore and Retaliate. So, it was sad, bur he was perma-boxed.
It has been a couple weeks, but if I recall, I went into the gym with Glitch and Shogun, and neither died. All I know is they survived, I don’t recall my strategy. Taking a guess, I think I relied on Shogun, now a Dewott, with Razor Shell Crits, or it nay have been Glitch with Sonic Boom.
We dealt with PokeStar studios and a couple easy Plasma battles, and have been in Castelia City since. The seasons have changed from Spring to Summer since, and I’ve been grinding via Double Battles in the Sewers. I will not catch my encounter until I am onto Single Battles, and I still have the park. Once those are done, I’ll have a more solid idea of my strategy. Right now, I am planning to use Peanut the now Tranquil to help deal with the tanky, 4X weak to flying Swaddloon and Leavanny, and Glitch the Magnemite for Dwebble, maybe even some Paralysis. I don’t know my two extra encounters at the time of this post, but I also have Cashmere the Flaafy and Shogun the Dewott available to plan around as well.
I do have crossed fingers for Zubat and Eevee as my encounters, though I may not have the luck for either, let alone Both.

2023.06.05 04:53 Lillianarose17 AITA for telling my mom I’m not her therapist

For some backstory I left my birth parents house when I was 9. My mom let’s call her T was never really a good mom she put me through lots of trauma and so did my dad but he’s not important in this story. I’m almost 17 and I’ve been adopted by my aunt who is 4 hours away from my home town T only has one way of contacting me which is easily delete-able so it’s not hard to avoid her texts and calls. T is an alcoholic and she gets drunk pretty often when she gets drunk she likes to call me and tell me what’s going on in her sex life and although I don’t mind hearing the updates of the new men in her life since my dad but not what’s going on down there. T went through a “relationship” with a dude we will call g. G had a wife and a girlfriend the whole time he was with T. Yes I feel bad for T but I’m sick of being her only outlet to vent. I told her yesterday that I was sick and tired of being her therapist and she has had several friends message me about how I should treat my mother when she didn’t even raise me. AITA?

2023.06.05 04:50 harry-jg How to Make Your VPN Undetectable and Avoid VPN Blocks

You've armed yourself with a VPN to guard your online exploits, making your browsing, streaming, and torrenting more elusive than Bigfoot himself. Thanks to your VPN's Fort Knox-level encryption, network overlords and ISPs are left scratching their heads, unable to spot which corners of the web you've been poking around in or what files you've been downloading. But there's one problem - they can still sense your VPN, like an invisible yet palpable phantom in the room. Lucky for us, there are several methods in the vault to make a VPN as undetectable as a needle in a haystack.
Scanning through the swathes of online advice on rendering your VPN undetectable is a bit like diving into a murky sea of misinformation, half-truths, and wild guesses. So, armed with a spirit of relentless curiosity, I donned my digital Sherlock Holmes hat and set out on a weeks-long fact-finding mission. My tools? Piles of articles, guides, and VPN support articles, numerous conversations with VPN customer service detectives, my personal expertise and experience, and multiple rounds of good ol' fashioned testing.
The result? This guide. Consider it a condensed field guide to making your VPN connection as elusive as a chameleon (well, to some extent). And because we're not half-baking things here, I've also included my personal recommendations for the top-tier VPNs that can deftly sidestep VPN detection and blockade like a pro.
The Art of Invisible VPNing: A Guide to the Why
Why would you want to render your VPN invisible, you might ask? Well, as much as I admire transparency, in the realm of VPNs, stealth pays off. Here's why.
In the case of a VPN block party - nations like China, Iran, and Indonesia have often been known to use their cutting-edge technology prowess to sniff out and thwart VPN connections. Even educational institutions and workplaces sometimes employ firewalls as bouncers, keeping VPNs at bay.
Secondly, who doesn't love a good streaming spree? Unfortunately, streaming sites often act like a suspicious bouncer, routinely rooting out and blocking VPN connections due to licensing red tape. But if you can make your VPN connection as invisible as a ghost, you could swan dive into your favorite shows from anywhere with a VPN.
Lastly, it's all about privacy, isn't it? Although your VPN's encryption acts like a cloak of invisibility, preventing your ISP from seeing your digital shenanigans, your ISP can still sense the presence of a VPN. Also, websites can sometimes recognize VPN IP addresses. In the name of privacy, some folks just prefer not to broadcast to their ISPs or visited sites that they're employing a VPN. After all, a good magician never reveals his secrets.
An Invisible Surfing Spree: Selecting the Right VPN
The most straightforward path around those pesky VPN detection dogs and firewall barricades is to employ a VPN that's adept at playing hide and seek. What you're really looking for is a VPN that changes its IP address as often as a chameleon changes color, expertly cloaks its VPN traffic, and offers an impressive suite of security and privacy features.
After sending several VPNs through a gauntlet of tests, I came to the conclusion that ExpressVPN should be your first port of call if you want to cruise the internet undetected — here's the evidence:
The master of disguise, ExpressVPN, seems to have a revolving door for IP addresses. During my test-run of its New York server, I noticed a different IP address each time, as if I was flipping through a book of random digits. The prowess of ExpressVPN is further demonstrated by its ability to grant you access to top-tier streaming platforms and its seamless operation even in countries with internet restrictions tighter than a tick.
Also, it supports Tor over VPN connections, adding another layer of camouflage to your VPN's IP address.
Your data and privacy are guarded like crown jewels with its no-logs policy and a suite of advanced security features, including robust leak protection, all backed up by audits.
Shuffling the Deck: Switching Your VPN’s IP Address
When a streaming giant or network sleuth has put your VPN's IP address on the blacklist, you'll need to give your VPN server's IP a makeover to sidestep this little roadblock. The most straightforward approach? Simply reconnect to the VPN server or waltz over to a different VPN server.
Certain VPNs come with in-built tools that permit you to shuffle the server's IP address like a deck of cards. Others, with a flair for automation, do the reshuffling for you — unobtrusively changing the IP address while you're sailing through the VPN server, akin to a magician who never reveals his tricks. Take VyprVPN for example, it has a trick up its sleeve known as the Chameleon protocol. This obfuscation tool is a master of disguise, seamlessly changing your IP address mid-journey without as much as a hiccup in your VPN connection.
Musical Chairs: Juggling Your VPN Protocol
Sometimes, in a land of restrictions and watchful network overseers, certain VPN protocols can be halted in their tracks if the ports they love to party in are shut down. They can also be outed and barred by a savvy bouncer known as Deep Packet Inspection (DPI). Your ticket out of this restrictive soiree is a simple protocol switcheroo.
If you find yourself grappling with port blocks, OpenVPN or WireGuard could be your new best pals. Should their default stomping grounds be barred, you can manually shepherd them to a different port — a tour WireGuard is prepared for with thousands of options, and OpenVPN is not far behind. Some VIPs on the VPN scene, such as ExpressVPN and PrivateVPN, have taken it a step further. They've programmed these protocols to play nice with ports that are hard to put in lockdown, saving you the hassle of handpicking a port. Quite the lifesaver if you're new to the shindig.
Playing Hide-and-Seek with Your VPN
Obfuscation, or as I like to call it, the "VPN invisibility cloak", wraps your VPN traffic in an extra layer of encryption, making it appear as unassuming as your run-of-the-mill internet traffic. It's your best defense against the ever-probing eye of DPI detection and blockade.
While a fair share of VPNs come with access to protocols that are masters of disguise, a select few have a built-in obfuscation feature that doesn't require them to borrow from the protocols they use. TunnelBear, for example, has its GhostBear feature, and PrivateVPN boasts StealthVPN. Activate these tools, and your VPN data magically transforms into regular, everyday internet traffic. Abracadabra, your online activities have just pulled a Houdini!
Opening the 443 Doorway: A Sneak into Internet Autobahn
If VPN-related ports seem like they are sealed tighter than a sous-vide bag, it's high time you make a run for TCP port 443. This magical portal is the very same used by HTTPS traffic, which pretty much is the main freeway for most of our internet travels. If an ISP or network overlord dared to barricade this gateway, they might as well bid adieu to all websites that use HTTPS – say, those tiny, irrelevant sites like Facebook, Google, Twitter, and YouTube. Imagine the uproar!
However, this precious TCP port 443 is only compatible with a select few VPN protocols:
OpenVPN, the people's champion of protocols for its robust security, is one of them. Some VPN providers like Private Internet Access let you pick TCP port 443 when you’re feeling the OpenVPN groove. Others, like ExpressVPN, streamline the process, automatically pairing OpenVPN with TCP port 443.
SSTP, a protocol not as widely embraced, uses TCP port 443 by default. But it's hard to find, tucked away in the menus of only a few VPN providers like IPVanish.
Then, there's SoftEther. This protocol is like the unicorn of VPN services - you hear of it, but you barely see it, primarily because it's as tricky to integrate into the VPN client as untangling your headphones after they've been in your pocket.
The High-Roller IP: A Reserved Seat in the VPN Concert
In the world of VPNs, shared IP addresses are the norm, akin to the nosebleed section in a concert - you share the space (or IP in our case) with a gaggle of other VPN users. But what if you fancied a front-row experience? Enter: the dedicated IP address. This VIP seat, exclusive to you, ensures that you don't share the IP spotlight with anyone else. It's like renting your own private island in the vast VPN sea.
Should you opt for a dedicated IP, streaming sites might struggle to detect your VPN connection. Picture this: instead of identifying a mob of 100+ people logging in from the same IP address (quite the red flag for shared IPs), websites would witness only a lone user logging in. Less conspicuous, less likely to be flagged and blocked.
If a dedicated IP address whets your appetite, Private Internet Access and CyberGhost VPN are solid options. They both roll out the red carpet of dedicated IPs for a nominal additional fee. For those of you scrimping, PrivateVPN is a sensible choice, providing free access to dedicated IP addresses.
Moreover, some VPNs, such as TorGuard, even offer dedicated residential IP addresses, the crème de la crème of detectability. These IPs belong to residential ISPs rather than data centers, making them appear as regular internet users to anyone scrutinizing these IPs. However, fair warning, TorGuard’s VPN plans tend to be on the pricier side. It's akin to paying for box seats at the opera, not exactly penny-pinching.
The Tor-tuous Trail: A VPN Voyage to the Dark Side
Tor, a cloak-and-dagger network that grants passage to the infamous dark web, is like a secret labyrinth. It leads your traffic through multiple servers, engaging in some digital masquerade, frequently changing your IP and encrypting your traffic repeatedly. The best part? It’s like a secret society with no membership fee. Simply download and install the Tor browser and you have a ticket to the Tor network.
Here's a trick up the sleeve: you can snake a Tor connection through a VPN connection. This nifty move ensures internet and dark web hotspots are none the wiser about your VPN IP address. The VPN connection, draped in several layers of Tor encryption, would be harder to detect than a chameleon on a Jackson Pollock painting. In essence, your connection path looks a bit like this:
You, then VPN, then Tor Server #1, Tor Server #2, Tor Server #3, and finally, the Dark Web.
Several top-shelf VPNs support the Tor over VPN connection, with ExpressVPN garnering my personal favor due to its impressively quick speeds. Because let's face it, Tor over VPN connections often move at the pace of a snail riding a turtle. Proton VPN also deserves an honorable mention, boasting servers in 7 countries that automatically route your traffic through the Tor network. This unique setup lets you access dark web sites with pedestrian browsers like Chrome and Firefox — no need to whip out the Tor browser.
Playing Hooky with your VPN: A Cellular Strategy
You know how workplaces and institutions of learning morph into fun sponges with their stringent anti-VPN rules on their networks? And getting caught using one can earn you an unceremonious trip to the principal's office or worse.
In such a tricky situation, it's time to tap into the untamed frontier of mobile data. By flipping the switch to your cellular data, you're using the network of your telecommunications provider instead of the school or company's network. It's like swapping the 'schooled' network's version of domesticated, house-trained internet for the wild, VPN-friendly terrain of mobile data.

2023.06.05 04:47 skoobaskiz Pulled over in Vegas with a "suspended license"

I live in Utah, drove to Vegas with an outdated registration due to me planning on registering it in Nevada because I was moving there. I get pulled over, and the officer says my license is also suspended. He says he usually lets people off with a warning but since my license was also suspended he gave me a ticket with a court date. I call my insurance company confused because I thought I had a license. They explain that I did, it just wasn't updated in the system yet due to me reinstating my insurance the day before. Since I have an SR-22 license my license is apparently suspended when I don't have insurance, but I have proof that I was already insured before I got pulled over. Vegas didn't pan out so im back to living in Utah and need to go back to Vegas in July for court. My questions are should I get a lawyer? How much trouble am I actually in? Is it only going to be one court date, or do I have to fly back and forth between Vegas?
Sorry that was so long, any responses will be appreciated.

2023.06.05 04:46 Rntstraight Question about empire of japan.

I wanted to do an empire of japan run but I’m running into a problem particularly with the foreign policy problem. mantetsu integration focus. So in order to complete that focus japan must control a bunch of provinces which are owned by the shanxi clique. There is another focus called finish the campaign which makes it possible to declare an annex war goal on the shanxi clique. The problem is the requirement to take this focus is to complete the mantetsu integration focus creating a sort of catch 22 problem. I have also noticed several other bugs related to japan and mantetsu sense the last update but this is the biggest one. (I ask here as nothing in the hot fix seems to mention any of the bugs)

I’ve warn the White Snow Shadow (white ninja) outfit to several maps and it’s been fine. I wear it to Hokkaido on my showdown mission and it’s hostile. Thankfully I didn’t loose my weapons (I escaped), but lost my gear and campaign. Anyone else know any other (clothing) circumstances like this so I don’t do it again? 🤦‍♂️

2023.06.05 04:29 Tangou-888 The Hoax Story of Remarkable Testimony of a Buddhist monk in Myanmar (Burma) (Part II)

The Hoax Story of Remarkable Testimony of a Buddhist monk in Myanmar (Burma) (Part II)
Dear All NDE Fans, I was alerted and requested by someone in a responsible position to check for the authenticity of the story behind this posting. After speaking to and exchanging Emails with Myanmar (Burmese) monks as well as fellow Myanmar Buddhism experts in many countries, I am 100% confident that this NDE story is completely fictitious. The reasons are given below.
(1) All Burmese experts said they had never heard of the story about this Myanmar Buddhist monk before.
(2) There is also no reports either in Burma or outside Burma of mass defection of Myanmar Buddhist Monks to join the Christian Church.
(3) The monk in the story said he became a novice at the age of 18. It is rather unusual as most boys Burmese boys join the monastic life at younger age than 18.
(4) At the age of 19, he became a monk. This is also unusual as the entry age for becoming a fully ordained monk is 20. (There is one exception when one considers the foetal life while in the mother's womb)
(5) U Zadila, also known as 'Kyar Ni Kan Sayadaw' was described as probably the most famous Buddhist Teacher of the time. That is disputable. Venerable Kyar Ni Kan Sayadaw was indeed well known and very popular as public speaker and preacher. But he was not regarded as the most distinguished monk academically and intellectually.
(6) The monk said 'Kyar Ni Kan Sayadaw' died in a car crash in 1983 . In fact Sayadaw died in Myanmar Era 1339 = about 1977. There was a 6 years discrepancy which is unacceptable as the monk said he studied under him. He should know the exact year when his teacher died. And that 1977 was also the year when he became a monk. This fact alone is enough to brand the story as a fake or invention.
(7) He said he was given a new name of 'U Nata Pannita Ashinthuriya' when he entered the monastery. In Burma, the title 'shin' was used for the novice. 'U' was never used for a novice.
(8) The monk's new name itself was unusual nor unheard of, according to the monks I consulted.
(9) Doctors diagnosed Malaria and Yellow fever. Actually the Yellow Fever was not known to exist in Burma.
(10) To recover completely after very severe malaria is most unusual especially after being discharged to die.
(11) To regain Life after the body started to decay (decompose) is impossible according to conventional medical thinking.
There are other discrepancies regarding his actual NDE. But there is no need to dig deeper. It is a complete FICTION. It is very regrettable that a Christian Church was reported to be involved in creating this dishonest practice.
We expect 'James' to say something about our findings. He is the one who reported the story to the world media. After reading his various postings to this forum, I believe that he is either a priest or a serious Christian. We welcome his reply as well as the communication from the Church authorities who wrote the Introduction to this fictitious story and published in their regular bulletin.
Best wishes to all, Melvin, [email protected]...

Resurrected Burmese Monk Story Revisited During the year 2000, numerous emails circulated on the Internet passing on the dramatic story: ‘BACK FROM THE DEAD The Remarkable Testimony of a Buddhist monk in Myanmar (Burma) who came back to life a changed man!’
With CCG Ministries’ involvement in Asia, including Myanmar, we were very interested in this story and its authenticity.
It was brought to ‘life’ on the Internet through the promotion of a Christian missionary organization then called, Asian Minorities Outreach, later changing its name to: Asia Harvest, headquartered in Texas, USA, and operating from Thailand. Its Director, Paul Hatthaway, has written several books, including ‘The Heavenly Man’.
For quite some time the ‘resurrected Buddhist monk’ story appeared on the front page of the organisation’s website. Then the actual story was removed from their website, but a remaining reference to it encouraged people to request a copy of the story by email. The following explanation for the change, was given by the group at the time:
‘A Quick Note: We have been asked by many people why this testimony is no longer available on our website. We were ordered to remove the story by the government of Singapore, who had apparently received complaints from Buddhists. As our website is housed in Singapore at the moment, we didn’t have much choice.’
AMO/Asia Harvest introduced the story with the following introduction:
‘The story that follows is simply a translation of a taped testimony from a man with a life-changing story. It is not an interview or a biography, but simply the words from the man himself. Different people react in different ways when they hear this story. Some are inspired, some skeptical, a few will mock and ridicule, while some others have even been filled with rage and anger, convinced these words are the ravings of a mad man or an elaborate deception. Some Christians have opposed the story simply because the radical and miraculous events described herein do not fit their feeble image of an Almighty God.’
We were concerned with the above wording and commented in our 2001 report that it was interesting to note the approach they took in the introduction. Anyone who questioned the story would immediately be labelled as a sceptic, a mocker or ridiculer, someone filled with rage and anger, or worse a Christian whose concept of God is feeble and who does not believe that an Almighty God can be radical and perform miracles.
This could be seen by some as a form of bullying and intimidation to dismiss any form of thought and questioning of the story. It is not a healthy or biblical approach to dealing with questions about such a dramatic story, nor does it encourage people to use their minds.
The resurrected monk’s story was quite a dramatic tale and it has impressed many people. It was even reported in the well-known Christian Singaporean magazine: IMPACT (June/July 2000, p.45). It continued to be circulated and passed on through emails for some time.
But was it true? If it was, it SHOULD be circulated - whatever the consequences. But what if it was NOT true? Should it then continue to be circulated never-the-less? We believe not!
It should be noted that there have been several versions of the story circulating. One version, which was circulating in March and April of 2000, began with an ‘Extract’:
‘Myanmar: Buddhist monk raised from the dead - 300 monks turn to Jesus. “In 1998, a Buddhist monk died. A few days later, his funeral was held, at which he was to be cremated. From the smell, it was obvious that his body had started to decompose - he was very clearly dead!” according to the report from missions agency Asian Minorities Outreach. “We have attempted to verify this report which reached us from a number of sources, and are now convinced that it is accurate,” they write.
Hundreds of monks and relatives of the dead man attended the funeral. Just as the body was about to be burned, the dead monk suddenly sat up, shouting ‘It’s a lie! I saw our ancestors burning and being tortured in some sort of fire. I also saw Buddha and many other Buddhist holy men. They were all in a sea of fire!’ ‘We must listen to the Christians,’ he continued emphatically, ‘they’re the only ones who know the truth!’
The events shocked the whole region. Over 300 monks became Christians and started to study the Bible. The resurrected man continued to warn everyone to believe in Jesus, because he is the only true God. Tapes of the monk’s report were distributed throughout Myanmar. The Buddhist hierarchy and the government were soon alarmed, and they arrested the monk. He has not been seen since and it is feared that he was killed to keep him silent. It is now a serious crime to listen to the tapes, because the government wants to dampen the sensation.’
On Sunday 19th November 2000, CCG Ministries’ Director, Adrian van Leen, interviewed and spoke with a man who claimed to be the ‘resurrected’ Paul in a hotel function room in Yangon in the company of four Myanmar Christian leaders.
That interview raised serious questions as to the authenticity of the story under consideration.

Our detailed review of the interview with the man claiming to be Paul, the ‘resurrected’ monk, was published as a report, sent to Asia Harvest, and placed on our website. After emailing a copy of the report, we also sent a ‘hard’ copy of the TACL containing the printed article, to Asia Harvest. In the latter part of 2003 we received the following email from Asia Harvest:
Greetings! I’m sure you will remember our communications a year or two back regarding the story of the Buddhist monk in Myanmar who came back to life. We were the ones who first had his testimony translated and published on our website.
Then you travelled to Myanmar and met with a man regarding this story. Your graphic report of that interview, his seemingly unstable mind and completely inconsistent testimony left us with no option but to withdraw the story from our website and offer our deep apologies. The last thing we want to do is discredit the name of our Lord Jesus by publishing any story that is untrue. I wrote to you of our intentions and you accurately reported,
[After Asia Harvest received a copy of this report they removed all references to the story from their website and stopped sending out email transcripts of the claimed resurrection account. They will be making some statement regarding their initial endorsement of the story. When this is available we will gladly append it to this report.]
However, when we received your magazine article which carried a picture of the man you interviewed, we showed it to two Burmese pastors who met the original “Paul” in Myanmar and they immediately said this was the wrong man! Later a missionary who lives here in Thailand but who works in Myanmar also said the man you interviewed looks nothing like the monk, being much younger.
More information since has revealed that there are actually three or four different people in Myanmar who claim they were monks who rose from the dead! Our contacts in Yangon (Rangoon) say that two of these are completely untrustworthy men, with little evidence of a genuine conversion to Christ. One of these is the young man you interviewed. No wonder his birth-date and other key facts were different from the testimony we published - it was not the same person! It almost seems that Satan sent along these counterfeits with false testimonies and a poor witness in order to discredit the original testimony.
Can we absolutely guarantee the story we published is true - of course not. Only God and the person involved can know what happened in such a story. We stated this when we first released the transcript of his testimony. But as far as can be verified, we have yet to be convinced that this testimony is false. We have been told it now seems likely that the monk Paul was killed. He was in hiding for more than 12 months and has not been heard of since. Another ex-monk who lives in Shan State, who also converted to Christ through miraculous circumstances is also being hunted by the authorities in a bid to silence him.
In the interests of fairness, would you be willing to publish our comments in this email with the story that is on your website?
God bless you,
Asia Harvest
Unfortunately, this update from Asia Harvest still fails to answer many of the questions and issues CCG Ministries raised in our report initially.
Our report had already acknowledged that there were several people in Myanmar (Burma) claiming to be the ‘resurrected’ monk: Further complications have arisen with this whole saga. According to the beliefs of some people in Myanmar (or some with friends and/or relatives in Myanmar), several different people supposedly, or apparently, are claiming to be the resurrected Buddhist monk - at least an older man and a not-so-balanced young man.
Even if we completely remove the questionable ‘Paul’ interviewed by CCG Ministries’ Director and several Myanmar Pastors, we are still left with serious questions about the whole story anyway. These were made clear in our 2001 report and remain unanswered by the recent comments from Asia harvest.
Apart from the contradictions made by [the suspect] Paul in front of witnesses, there are still serious questions about the content of his [the ‘original ‘Paul’] supposed visions or visit to hell and heaven, as well as questions about editorial comments made by Asian Minorities Outreach/Asia Harvest.
AMO/Asia Harvest has made statements about Paul being radically transformed and having a 180-degree shift in his life, and him continuing to be a fearless witness for Christ, of him being persecuted, scorned by family, friends and colleagues, and facing death for his unwillingness to compromise. But some Myanmar Christian leaders have asked (as we do also) on what do they base this, apart from his say so [or the say-so of unnamed pastors whose comments seem in clear conflict with that of the majority of pastors – especially from known established churches and denominations]? What evidence do they have?
Statements that [the ‘original’] Paul had been arrested and imprisoned - probably several times, not seen since, and that it was feared that he had been killed to keep him silent - are all highly emotive. While claims of imprisonment in such a situation are plausible and even probable, they remain unsubstantiated.
AMO/Asia Harvest has stated that the story was first told them by several Burmese church leaders, and that since being initially told they ‘have attempted to verify this report which reached us from a number of sources, and are now convinced that it is accurate.’ IMPACT Magazine reported that a spokesman for AMO/Asia Harvest stated: ‘We believe it to be true as there are many witnesses to these events.’
CCG Ministries’ Director, Adrian van Leen, before, especially during, and after his visit to Myanmar in November 2000, [and subsequent visits in 2001 and 2002] has spoken to a number of [numerous] Myanmar Christian leaders - including a number who are involved in inter-church/inter-denominational work, as well as leaders of several denominations. He spoke with leaders from Yangon and across Myanmar who attended a conference in Bago, and also Christian leaders in Mandalay and a regional township. Many of these leaders from across varying denominations had contact with other Christian leaders across the country.
No one was able to give ANY form of authentication to the story. A number of leaders, including those who had been in Christian leadership in Mandalay, knew of no evidence to confirm any part of the story. Some of the Myanmar Christian leaders would very much like to know who the ‘several Burmese church leaders’ are that AMO/Asia Harvest refers to as their sources for this story.
In fact, it was pointed out very clearly that, had the story been true, especially had there been a number of Buddhist monks converted to Christianity - especially as many as 300 and very much so if there were as many as 7,000 - the news would have spread rapidly. While the government-controlled media might have tried to suppress such news - the Christians and churches (particularly in the Mandalay area) would not have been able - nor have wanted to - suppress such news. It would have spread rapidly and widely through the churches. The Buddhist community would also have spread the story - though for different reasons.
The claim that ’there are many witnesses to these events’ is also disputed by Myanmar Christian leaders, who have stated that they had never met anyone who had been a direct primary witness - nor anyone who had personally met a direct witness to these events… The reality is that in Myanmar itself no one has been able to find any witnesses or any evidence whatever, to support the story of the resurrected Paul.
It was also pointed out that [the ‘original’] Paul’s claim to have seen Aung San, the revolutionary leader of Myanmar (father of current opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi) in hell ‘because he persecuted and killed Christians, but mostly because he didn’t believe in Jesus Christ’ was completely without foundation. He is a well known figure in Burmese/Myanmar thinking and history - and there is no evidence at all that he persecuted any Christians, let alone killed any.
AMO/Asia Harvest has invited ‘Christian believers to judge it [Paul’s resurrection story] according to Scripture.’

As one senior Myanmar pastor pointed out, the story and description of hell given by Paul, is itself contrary to Scripture. Paul’s story is also in conflict with the story Jesus told in the account of the rich man and the beggar, Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31). When carefully examined it is also in conflict with the comments of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15 - in particular where that Paul was able to name eye witnesses to the resurrection of Christ - and acknowledged at the time that some were still living - in other words, he was able to produce witnesses who could testify to the authenticity of his claims.
Pastors in Myanmar are still asking for real evidence and living witnesses to the claimed miracle with whom they can discuss and verify the story. So far, the story’s authenticity remains with the claims made by Asia Harvest.
The story of the ‘resurrected Paul’ is known throughout much of Myanmar - and his tape has circulated (in several versions). Hardly anyone in Myanmar - especially amongst Christian leaders - has accepted or believed the story. There is just nothing to back it up.
Far from the ‘resurrected monk’ story providing a ‘fearless and faithful witness to Jesus Christ, whose testimony is converting Buddhists, strengthening the church or bringing glory to God’s name’, Myanmar pastor have told our Director that it has brought fear and suspicion to many Christians in the country. We concluded our 2001 report with the comment: Whatever the truth behind this sad saga, most Christians, and most pastors and church leaders in Myanmar, are not taking this story seriously and see little value in it for the growth of the Christian community in that country.
From the evidence we have been able to examine, including the claims and content of the story itself, and all the discussions with Pastors and others in Myanmar, we believe it would have been wiser for the story not to have been published and circulated.
We believe that ‘miracle stories’ which cannot be adequately substantiated ought to be treated with caution – especially if those stories, or significant parts of those stories, do not conform to Scripture. Lives continue to be changed by the resurrected and living Jesus Christ – sometimes dramatically, sometimes quietly – the substance of those changed lives are quiet miracles that are often clear and undisputed. They continue to honour Christ and encourage others.

Burmese \"Paul\" as in the story

2023.06.05 04:27 khamzatsmom How could one properly configure a router on Linux? or should I blow it up and restart?

I currently have ubuntu mate and its all messed up; just a bunch of glitches. I know that alot of the network config files are messed too. My system can't resolve anything, so no updates or downloads. It's just a mess. I've been lightly messing with OpenWrt on my Belkin RT3200, though I barely made any configs, idk if that was enough to set things off.
So in my predicament, what shall I do? I looked up several of the config files and tried fixing them myself, but that didnt go to well. Its almost like their all interconnected and they need changed at the same time; it's weird. Or is there a tool/program that is accurate that can help me fix my problems? I'd feel much more accomplished but dont know where to start. There's gotta be an order to all these network configs right? thanks

2023.06.05 04:26 Tangou-888 The Hoax Story of Remarkable Testimony of a Buddhist monk in Myanmar (Burma) (Part I)

The Hoax Story of Remarkable Testimony of a Buddhist monk in Myanmar (Burma) who came back to life a changed man!
Introduction The story that follows is simply a translation of a taped testimony from a man with a life-changing story. Some Christians have opposed the story simply because the radical and miraculous events described herein do not fit their feeble image of an Almighty God.
We were first made aware of this story from several Burmese church leaders who shared it with us. These leaders had looked into the story and had not found any suggestion of it being a hoax. It was with this in mind that we decided to step out and circulate the story. We do not do so for any monetary gain, or with a motivation of self-promotion. We just want to let the story speak for itself, and invite Christian believers to judge it according to Scripture. If God wants any part of it to be intended for His glory or to encourage His people, then we pray His Spirit will work in the hearts of the readers in those ways.
Some people have told us they think the monk in this story never actually died, but that he just lapsed into unconsciousness, and the things he saw and heard were part of a fever-driven hallucination. Whatever you think, the simple fact remains that the events of this story so radically transformed this man that his life took on a complete 180-degree shift after the events described below. He has fearlessly and boldly told his story at great personal cost, including imprisonment. He has been scorned by his relatives, friends and colleagues, and faced death threats for his unwillingness to compromise his message. What motivated this man to be willing to risk everything? Whether we believe him or not, his story is surely worth listening to and considering. In the cynical West many people demand hard evidence of such things, evidence that would stand up in a court of law. Can we absolutely guarantee, beyond doubt, that all of these things happened? No, we cannot. But we feel it is worth repeating this man's story in his own words so that readers can judge for themselves.
My Early Years Hello! My name is Athet Pyan Shinthaw Paulu. I am from the country of Myanmar. I would like to share with you my testimony of what happened to me, but first I would like to give some brief background information from my life growing up.
I was born in 1958 in the town of Bogale, on the Irrawaddy Delta area of southern Myanmar [formerly Burma]. My parents, who were devout Buddhists like most people in Myanmar, named me Thitpin [which means 'tree' in English]. Our lives were very simple where I grew up. At the age of 13 I left school and started working on a fishing boat. We caught fish and sometimes also shrimp from the numerous rivers and streams in the Irrawaddy area. At the age of 16 I became the leader of the boat. At this time I lived in Upper Mainmahlagyon Island [Mainmahlagyon means 'Beautiful Woman Island' in English], just north of Bogale where I was born. This place is about 100 miles southwest of Yangon [Rangoon], our nation's capitol city.
One day, when I was 17, we caught a large number of fish in our nets. Because of the many fish, a large crocodile was attracted to us. It followed our boat and tried to attack us. We were terrified so we frantically rowed our boats toward the riverbank as fast as we could. The crocodile followed us and smashed our boat with its tail. Although no one died in this incident, the attack greatly affected my life. I no longer wanted to fish. Our small boat sank because of the crocodile attack. We had to go home to our village that night on a passenger boat.
Not long after, his employers transferred my father to Yangon City [formerly spelt Rangoon]. At the age of 18 I was sent to a Buddhist monastery to be a novice monk. Most parents in Myanmar try to send their son into a Buddhist monastery, at least for a time, as it is considered a great honor to have a son serve in this way. We have been observing this custom for many hundreds of years.

A Zealous Disciple of Buddha When I turned 19 years and 3 months old (in 1977), I became a normal monk. The senior monk at my monastery gave me a new Buddhist name, which is the custom in our country. I was now called U Nata Pannita Ashinthuriya. When we become a monk we no longer use the name given to us at birth by our parents. The name of the monastery I lived at is called Mandalay Kyaikasan Kyaing. The senior monk's name was called U Zadila Kyar Ni Kan Sayadaw [U Zadila is his title]. He was the most famous Buddhist monk in all of Myanmar at the time. Everyone knew who he was. He was widely honored by the people and respected as a great teacher. I say he "was" because in 1983 he suddenly died when he was involved in a fatal car accident. His death shocked everyone. At the time I had been a monk for six years.
I tried hard to be the best monk I could and to follow all the precepts of Buddhism. At one stage I moved to a cemetery where I lived and meditated continually. Some monks who really want to know the truths of Buddha do things like I did. Some move deep into the forests where they live a life of self-denial and poverty. I sought to deny my selfish thoughts and desires, to escape from sickness and suffering and to break free from the cycle of this world. At the cemetery I was not afraid of ghosts. I tried to attain such inner peace and self-realization that even when a mosquito landed on my arm I would let it bite me instead of brushing it off!
For years I strived to be the best monk I could and not to harm any living being. I studied the holy Buddhist teachings just like all my forefathers had done before me.
My life proceeded as a monk until I got very, very sick. I was in Mandalay at the time and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. The doctors did some tests on me and told me I had both Yellow Fever and malaria at the same time! After about one month in the hospital I was getting worse. The doctors told me there was no chance for me to recover and discharged me to make arrangements to die.
This is a brief description of my past. I would now like to tell you some of the remarkable things that happened to me after this times...

A Vision that Changed My Life Forever After I was discharged from the hospital I went back to the monastery where other monks cared for me. I grew weaker and weaker and was lapsing into unconsciousness. I learned later that I actually died for three days. My body decayed and stunk of death, and my heart stopped beating. My body was prepared for cremation and was put through traditional Buddhist purification rites.
Although I faded away in my body I remember my mind and spirit were fully alert. I was in a very, very powerful storm. A tremendous wind flattened the whole landscape until there were no trees or anything else standing, just a flat plain. I walked very fast along this plain for some time. There were no other people anywhere, I was all alone. After some time I crossed a river. On the other side of the river I saw a terrible, terrible lake of fire. In Buddhism we do not have a concept of a place like this. At first I was confused and didn't know it was hell until I saw Yama, the king of hell [Yama is the name ascribed to the King of Hell in numerous cultures throughout Asia]. His face looked like the face of a lion, his body was like a lion, but his legs were like a naga [serpent spirit]. He had a number of horns on his head. His face was very fierce, and I was extremely afraid. Trembling, I asked him his name. He replied, "I am the king of hell, the Destroyer."
The terrible, terrible lake of fire The king of hell told me to look into the lake of fire. I looked and I saw the saffron colored robes that Buddhist monks wear in Myanmar. I looked closer and saw the shaven head of a man. When I looked at the man's face I saw it was U Zadila Kyar Ni Kan Sayadaw [the famous monk who had died in a car accident in 1983]. I asked the king of hell why my former leader was confined to this lake of torment. I said, "Why is he in this lake of fire? He was a very good teacher. He even had a teaching tape called 'Are You a Man or a Dog?' which had helped thousands of people understand that their worth as humans is far greater than the animals." The king of hell replied, "Yes, he was a good teacher but he did not believe in Jesus Christ. That's why he is in hell."
I was told to look at another person who was in the fire. I saw a man with very long hair wrapped on the left hand side of his head. He was also wearing a robe. I asked the king of hell, "Who is this man?" He replied, "This is the one you worship: Gautama [Buddha]."
I was very disturbed to see Gautama in hell. I protested, "Gautama had good ethnics and good moral character, why is he suffering in this lake of fire?" The king of hell answered me, "It doesn't matter how good he was. He is in this place because he did not believe in the Eternal God."
I then saw another man who looked like he was wearing a soldier's uniform. He had a large wound on his chest. I asked, "Who is this man?" The king of hell said, "This is Aung San, the revolutionary leader of Myanmar." I was told, "Aung San is here because he persecuted and killed Christians, but mostly because he didn't believe in Jesus Christ." In Myanmar the people have a common saying, "Soldiers never die, they live on." I was told that the legions of hell have a saying "Soldiers never die, but they go to hell forever."
I looked and saw another man in the lake of fire. He was a very tall man and he was dressed in military armor. He was also holding a sword and a shield. This man had a wound on his forehead. This man was taller than any person I have ever seen. He was six times the length between a man's elbow and the tips of his fingers when he stretches his arm out straight, plus one span of a man's fingers when he spreads out his hand. The king of hell said, "This man's name is Goliath. He is in hell because he blasphemed the Eternal God and His servant David." I was confused because I didn't know who either Goliath or David were. The king of hell said, "Goliath is recorded in the Christian Bible. You don't know him now, but when you become a Christian you will know who he is."

I was then taken to a place where I saw both rich and poor people preparing to eat their evening meals. I asked, "Who cooked the food for these people?" The king of hell replied, "The poor have to prepare their own food, but the rich people get others to cook for them." When the food had been prepared for the rich people they sat down to eat. As soon as they started a thick smoke came up. The rich people ate as fast as they could to ease their consciences. They were struggling to breath because of the smoke. They had to eat fast because they were fearful of losing their money. Their money is their god.
Another king of hell then came to me. I also saw a being whose job is to stoke the fires beneath the lake of fire, to keep it hot. This being asked me, "Are you going into the lake of fire too?" I replied, "No! I am only here to observe!" The appearance of this creature stoking the fire was very terrifying. He had ten horns on his head and a spear in his hand that had seven sharp blades coming from the end. The creature told me, "You are right. You came here just to observe. I cannot find your name here." He said, "You must now go back the way you came." He pointed me toward the desolate plain that I had first walked along before I came to the lake of fire.
The Road of Decision I walked a long time, until I was bleeding. I was hot and in great pain. Finally, after walking for about three hours I came to a wide road. I walked along this road for some time until I came to a fork. One road, going off to the left, was wide. A smaller road went off to the right hand side. There was a signpost at the fork saying that the road to the left was for those who do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. The smaller road to the right was for believers in Jesus.
I was interested to see where the larger road led so I started down it. There were two men walking about 300 yards ahead of me. I tried to catch up with them so I could walk with them but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't catch them up, so I turned around and went back to the fork in the road. I continued to watch these two men as they walked down the road away from me. When they reached the end of the road they were suddenly stabbed. These two men cried out in great pain! I also cried out when I saw what happened to them! I realized the bigger road ended in great danger for those who traveled down it.
Looking into Heaven I started walking down the believers' road instead. After traveling for about one hour the surface of the road turned to pure gold. It was so pure that when I looked down I could see my own reflection perfectly. I then saw a man standing in front of me. He was wearing a white robe. I also heard beautiful singing. Oh, it was so beautiful and pure! It was much better and more meaningful than the worship we have in churches here on the earth. The man in the white robe asked me to walk with him. I asked him, "What is your name?" but he did not answer. After I asked his name six times the man answered, "I am the one who holds the key to heaven. Heaven is a very, very beautiful place. You cannot go there now but if you follow Jesus Christ you can go there after your life has finished on the earth." The man's name was Peter.
Peter then asked me to sit down and he showed me a place to the north. Peter said, "Look to the north and see God create man." I saw the Eternal God from a distance. God spoke to an angel, "Let us make man." The angel pleaded with God and said, "Please don't make man. He will do wrong and will grieve you." [In Burmese literally: "He will make you lose face."]. But God created a man named anyway. God blew on the man and the man came to life. He gave him the name "Adam". [Note: Buddhists do not believe in the Creation of the world or of man, so this experience had a significant impact on the monk].

Sent Back with a New Name Then Peter said, "Now get up and go back to where you came from. Speak to the people who worship Buddha and who worship idols. Tell them they must go to hell if they don't change. Those who build temples and idols will also have to go to hell. Those who give offerings to the monks to earn merit for themselves with go to hell. All those who pray to the monks and call them 'Pra' [respectful title for monks] will go to hell. Those who chant and 'give life' to idols will go to hell. All those who don't believe in Jesus Christ will go to hell." Peter told me to go back to the earth and testify about the things I had seen. He also said, "You must speak in your new name. From now on you are to be called Athet Pyan Shinthaw Paulu ["Paul who Came Back to Life."].
I didn't want to go back. I wanted to go to heaven. Angels opened a book. First they looked for my childhood name (Thitpin) in the book, but they could not find it. They then looked for the name I had been given when he entered the Buddhist monk hood (U Nata Pannita Ashinthuriya) but it wasn't written in the book either. Then Peter said, "Your name is not written here, you must return and testify about Jesus to the Buddhist people."
I walked back along the gold road. Again I heard beautiful singing, the kind of which I have never heard before or since. Peter walked with me until the time I returned to the earth. He showed me a ladder that reached down from the heaven to the sky. The ladder didn't reach to the earth, but stopped in mid-air. On the ladder I saw many angels, some going up to heaven and some going down the ladder. They were very busy. I asked Peter, "Who are they?" Peter answered, "They are messengers of God. They are reporting to heaven the names of all those who believe in Jesus Christ and the names of those who don't believe." Peter then told me it was time to go back.
It is a Ghost! The next thing I was aware of was the sound of weeping. I heard my own mother cry out, "My son, why did you leave us now?" I also heard many other people weeping. I realized I was lying in a box. I started to move. My mother and father started shouting, "He is alive! He is alive!" Other people who were farther away did not believe my parents. I then placed my hands on the sides of the box and sat upright. Many people were struck with terror. They cried out, "It is a ghost!" and ran away as fast as their legs could carry them.
Those who remained were speechless and trembling. I noticed I was sitting in smelly liquid and body fluids, enough to fill about three and a half cups. This was liquid that had come out of my stomach and my insides while my body was lying in the coffin. This is why people knew I had indeed been dead. Inside the coffin there was a type of plastic sheet fixed to the wood. This sheet is placed there to retain a corpse's liquids, because many dead bodies release much fluid like mine did.
I learned later that I was just moments away from being cremated in the flames. In Myanmar people are placed in a coffin, the lid is then nailed shut, and the whole coffin is burned. When I came back to life my mother and father were being allowed to look at my body for the very last time. Moments later the lid of my coffin would have been nailed shut and I would have been cremated!
I immediately started to explain the things I had seen and heard. People were astonished. I told them about the men I had seen in the lake of fire, and told them that only the Christians know the truth, that our forefathers and us have been deceived for thousands of years! I told them everything we believe is a lie. The people were astonished because they knew what kind of a monk I had been and how zealous I had been for the teachings of Buddha.
In Myanmar when a person dies their name and age is written on the side of the coffin. When a monk dies, the monk's name, age and the number of years he has served as a monk are written on the side of the coffin. I had already been recorded as dead but as you can see, now I am alive!
Epilogue Since 'Paul who came back to life' experienced the above story he has remained a faithful witness to the Lord Jesus Christ. Burmese pastors have told us that he had led hundreds of other monks to faith in Christ. His testimony is obviously very uncompromising. Because of that, his message has offended many people who cannot accept there is only one Way to Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ. Despite great opposition, his experiences were so real to him that he has not wavered. After many years in the Buddhist monk hood, as a strict follower of Buddhist teachings, he immediately proclaimed the Gospel of Christ following his resurrection and exhorted other monks to forsake all false gods and follow Jesus Christ with all their hearts. Before the time of his sickness and death he had no exposure to Christianity at all. Everything he learned during those three days in the grave was new to his mind.
In a bid to get his message out to as many people as possible, this modern-day Lazarus began distributing audio and video cassette tapes with his story on them. The police and Buddhist authorities in Myanmar have done their utmost to gather these tapes up and destroy them. The testimony you have just read has been translated form one of those cassette tapes. We are told it is now quite dangerous for citizens of Myanmar to be in possession of these tapes.
His fearless testimony has landed him in prison at least once, where the authorities failed in their bid to silence him. Upon his release he continued to testify of the things he saw and heard. His current whereabouts are uncertain. One Burmese informant told us he is prison and may have been killed, while another informant was told he is now released from prison and is continuing his ministry.

Dear Triplegem Members, The following message was posted to the NDE.com Website by someone called 'James' on 23rd July, 2000. (NDE = Near Death Experience). The Monk's story is identical. But the source is different. Details can be viewed at
<>
The message began with: "Buddhist Monk visits Hell" I believe this person died, body decay & rotten. He was then brought to those places by the LORD to show him some vision. <-------
This is taken from a mission paper "Northside Missions Update" Northside Christian Centre 31-61 McLeans Road Bundoora Victoria 3083 Australia
The same 'Monk's Story' followed. Then, exchange of interesting messages took place at the NDE.com Bulletin Board among NDE regulars, some of them are Christians, and finally, someone called 'Melvin', 'a Myanmar Buddhist', posted the following message and the discussion came to a close.
The fact that the same story has re-surfaced in another form (cassette), perhaps in a another country is a bit disturbing!
Best wishes to all our Triplegem members, MM Lwin

2023.06.05 04:22 Common-Lobster-1939 Are you guys able to work??

19 F H.pylori neg chronic gastritis- unknown cause have been on strict bland diet for 5/6 months. Diagnosed via endoscopy. (Results said consistent with peptic duodenitis & gastritis).
My symptoms have been plain debilitating for MONTHS. Even if I have a few good days, that’s doesn’t really matter in the long run. The symptoms always come back. I am unable to work, and had to stop doing school.
I’m just curious what other people’s activity levels are, and how much this has effected or continue to effect their life. I feel so useless 98% of the time. My husband never complains about having to do everything financially, but I can’t help but feel like a burden. It’s been 7 months since I’ve worked. Before, I worked over 40 hours a week at an animal hospital & loved it. I love to work & help provide for our life. It’s just such a hard thing to sit at home every day… idk. I know everyone’s symptoms are different though. Not everyone has them THAT severe. My issue is the 24/7 excruciating nausea. On top of that, the gastritis has made my POTS 10x worse, so the dizziness takes over my life. I can’t stand for more than 10 minutes without getting the “you’re about to pass out warning”.
Sorry for the rant. I’m just curious how other people function :/

2023.06.05 04:11 RBrim08 The conclusion to my first real attempt at a FireRed Nuzlocke.

Here's the previous post I made, for those seeking more context.
I, sadly, did not take very comprehensive notes after this point, as I was busy with several things and was just busy with playing at the time.
I did catch a male Krabby, which I named Boris, in Cerulean City to replace my Gyarados that I lost in my Sabrina fight. I trained it up into a Kingler and focused on training it on Route 9 to give it lots of Attack EVs and Speed EVs from the Ekans and Rattatas and Spearows. This guy did a good number on Blaine's and Giovanni's gyms, but ultimately got taken out by Giovanni's last Rhyhorn outspeeding me and getting an Earthquake off.
I picked up a female Tentacool on Route 20, which I named Vera, and evolved it into a Tentacruel. I was planning to make use of this girl in the Elite Four, but a Marowak in Victory Road had other plans and killed her with a Bonemerang.
To replace Vera, I picked up the Lapras from Silph Co. in Saffron City, naming him Indigo. I also picked up an Abra from the Game Corner in Celadon City, which I named Oswald, and leveled him up to become an Alakazam. I used the Old Amber I got from Pewter City to add an Aerodactyl to my team, which I named Crush, who take the place of Cerberus, my Dodrio.
Nossu, my Electrode, met his end against Blue just before Victory Road, getting taken out by Blue's Alakazam. I went to the Power Plant in hopes of getting a good Electric type and found an Electabuzz, which I named Kurtis.
Getting through Victory Road, I found myself at the Elite Four and, after grinding my team to about level 55, I decided on this team:
Lorelei, Bruno and Agatha were all clean sweeps. Kurtis took out most all of Lorelei's Pokemon, with Zheos coming in for her last 'mon, Jynx, to take her out with a Flamethrower. Bruno was absolutely destroyed by Indigo using Surf and Oswald using Psybeam and Psychic. Agatha was utterly demolished by Oswald alone.
And then came Lance... I began the battle with Kurtis, taking out his Gyarados with a single Thunder Punch. He then switched into Aerodactyl. I decided to switch to Lapras, hoping his extensive HP EV training would help him remain bulky in the face of Ancient Powers. Sadly, he only got one Ice Beam off before succumbing to Rock Tomb. I sent in Kurtis to finish the bastard off with a couple of Thunder Punches. The rest of the battle had a few close shaves, but I managed to take out all of his remaining Pokemon with my team. Crush was the MVP here, dodging an Outrage that would have killed him with Fly, the Dragonite becoming confused and hurting itself on its following turn and, not wanting to risk a low roll, taking out the Dragonite with a Double-Edge (thank you Rock Head).
Then came the battle against Blue. I sent in Kurtis to handle his Pidgeot, which it took out with a Thunder Punch and Thunderbolt. Blue sent out his Rhydon in retaliation and, sensing an Earthquake, I switched in Crush to dodge it. I attacked with an Earthquake from Crush in hopes it would take out his Rhydon, but the tanky bastard lived and took out Crush. You shall be missed, you crazy bastard.
Sending in Oswald, he managed to flay the Rhydon with a powerful Psychic, before Blue sent out his Arcanine. I decided to set up a Calm Mind in hopes I could sweep with Alakazam... but a critical Flamethrower from the Arcanine killed Oswald in one shot. He wasn't with me for long, but he did a damn fine job getting me passed Bruno and Agatha.
I sent in Myon to try and follow up on some damage with a Confuse Ray and Shadow Ball, the latter not making him hurt himself in confusion at all and the former doing only some marginal damage. Unfortunately, a Flamethrower and Bite sealed Myon's fate and down he went... and at this point, I felt that the run was over. I was down to two Pokemon, Kurtis and Zheos, and Blue still had four, healthy Pokemon for me to get through.
I sent out Kurtis... and remembered that he still knew Light Screen! I used that bad boy to reduce the damage he took from the Flamethrowers and spammed Thunderbolt on that Arcanine to take it down. Next came out his Alakazam, the bastard that killed Kurtis's predecessor. After a quick topping off and another Light Screen, Kurtis avenged Nossu and took down the Alakazam.
Blue then sent out his Exeggutor and, knowing Kurtis wouldn't be able to handle this palm tree, I sent in Zheos. Two quick Flamethrowers fell the tree, before Blue sent out his Blastoise. Kurtis was still a bit dinged up from fighting Blue's Arcanine and Alakazam, so I decided the safest option was to leave Zheos in, knowing he would likely die to any of Blastoise's water moves, so I could heal Zheos up to full. Thankfully, Blastoise missed the Hydro Pump that would have killed Zheos and used a Rain Dance on the turn I switched Kurtis in.
With a mighty Thunderbolt, I took his Blastoise down to half health, dodging his second Hydro Pump in the process. And with one more Thunderbolt, I took down the beast and defeated Blue, earning a come from behind victory, becoming the Pokemon Champion and succeeding in my first serious attempt at a Pokemon Nuzlocke!
I'm sad that I wasn't able to bring Barbeque the Charmander, my starter, any further than Brock's Gym. But I hope he's proud of me, along with all the other Pokemon I lost along the way.

2023.06.05 04:10 autobuzzfeedbot The New Docuseries About The Duggar Family And Their Ministry Was Just Released — Here Are 21 Shocking And Absolutely Heartbreaking Things I Learned While Watching

  1. Growing up, Josh belonged to a boy's club named "BOYCOT," which stood for Boys' Christian Outreach Team. Jill Duggar reveals that Josh and his friends created the club after a neighborhood convenience store started selling things they didn't agree with. Jill says, "I think they started selling...either alcohol or pornography or something like that. And they were like, 'We're gonna boycott them.'"
  2. Discovery, which owns TLC, helped pay for the 7,000-square-foot house that the family built. Jim Holt, a former close friend of Jim Bob, says that since "Jim Bob needed help getting his house done...the show made arrangements to finish [it], which was 200, or several hundred thousand dollars to get it finished."
  3. When Jim and his wife Bobye found out about Josh's abuse in 2003, Josh, who was 15 at the time, was dating the Holts' daughter Kaeleigh. When Jim learned that the abuse had been happening since Josh was 12, he asked Jim Bob and Michelle when they were planning on telling them about it. According to Jim, Michelle responded, "We weren't gonna have them tell you guys at all. We were gonna have Josh confess to Kaeleigh once they were married."
  4. Jim Bob asked Jim, who was adamant that Josh confess to molesting underage girls, to go with him and Josh to the state trooper's office. After Josh admitted what he had done, Jim alleges that the state trooper said, "I'm gonna let you go this time, but if you do it again, I'm really gonna come down hard on you." Jim claims it wasn't until later that he found out that the state trooper was Jim Bob's friend.
  5. Bill Gothard, the founder of IBLP (the ministry that the Duggars are involved in), focused on authority and obedience in his teachings. He would hold seminars and teach about "umbrellas of protection," warning that "if we get out from under that umbrella, we expose ourself to the realm and the power of Satan's control."
  6. A huge part of IBLP was ATI, or Advance Training Institute, a curriculum designed specifically for parents to homeschool their children. The program consisted of 3,000 pages of what was referred to as "wisdom booklets," all based on the Sermon on the Mount.
  7. Several voices in the documentary allege that the booklets were often very misogynistic. Chad Harris, an ex-IBLT member, says that one of his friends was never taught "math outside of fractions because her dad said, 'Well, you use fractions in baking, and that's good enough.'"
  8. In one exercise from a booklet, children were shown pictures of women in various outfits and instructed to circle any "eye traps," basically anything that would tempt a man, like an exposed shoulder or leg. Brooke Arnold, another ex-member, says of the assignment, "Instead of learning math, you're learning slut-shaming."
  9. Amy King, the Duggars' cousin, alleges that the Duggars had "a huge bonfire where they burned everything Disney and...literally everything that was 'worldly.'"
  10. In fact, according to the documentary, there were specific rules about all sorts of pop culture-related things. For example, according to Heather Heath, an ex-IBLP member, some kids couldn't watch Winnie the Pooh because Eeyore "glorified depression." Others couldn't have Barbies because they were seen as "harlots."
  11. According to Brooke, Bill Gothard was also vehemently against Cabbage Patch Kids and says he "taught that Xavier Roberts, the creator of Cabbage Patch dolls, was a warlock."
  12. According to those in the documentary, Michael Pearl and his wife Debi's book To Train Up a Child was used as teaching material for the ministry. Michael Pearl, a fundamentalist preacher, has said that "the rules, the principles, [and the] techniques for training an animal and a human are the same." According to the documentary, he taught to punish children by spanking and hitting them with rods and similar objects.
  13. Lara Smith, another ex-member, claims that these teachings were indeed enforced. "All children, if they were following the institute's guidelines...[were] spanked until [they] stopped crying, which could be hours."
  14. When cousin Amy is asked if she ever witnessed the Duggar children getting hit with rods, she responds, "They called it encouragement."
  15. According to Jill, Jim Bob and Michelle, in an effort to try to save their TLC show from being canceled, put pressure on Jill to do an interview with Megyn Kelly to talk about the abuse, something Jill says she's "not proud of." She adds, "In hindsight, I wouldn't have done the Megyn Kelly stuff. I felt like I was in a place again of bearing the burden and the weight...even though you volunteer, it's like you feel obligated to...help." Jill's husband, Derick Dillard, claims the situation was even more severe than that.
  16. After 19 Kids and Counting was canceled, according to Derick, Jim Bob was "clawing to get the show back as quick as possible." But Jill says TLC wanted to only focus on the older kids who had already moved out of the house and came up with the idea for Jill and Jessa: Counting On. Jill says she didn't want to do the show but had "never said no to [her] family before," pointing to the "umbrellas of authority" as the source of her fears.
  17. Jill says that in 2014, on the day before her and Derick's wedding, Jim Bob asked all the Duggar kids to sign a contract which, according to Derick, they "found out later...was a commitment of [their] life for the next five years to the show." With all the chaos of the wedding, Jill wasn't exactly sure what she was signing. She explains, "We were literally running through the kitchen, and it was like whoever you could grab on the way through, like, I didn't know what it was for."
  18. Jill claims that when she asked TLC for money to pay for her medical expenses from her first child's birth, they said they gave the money to the family, which meant Jim Bob. And Jill never saw any of it. In fact, she says, "For seven and a half years of my adult life, I was never paid."
  19. Sometime during the filming of Counting On, Jill and Derick refused to travel from El Salvador, where they were living at the time, to America to film something for the show. According to Jill, this was the first time she said no to her family. Afterward, Derick received threatening text messages from an anonymous sender. The texts mentioned how Derick had "mistreated" Jim Bob and how he had done him "great evil." When asked if he thought Jim Bob sent the texts, Derick says, "I don't know. I can't speculate."
  20. In 2016, after countless sexual harassment claims caused Gothard to step down from IBLP, several women came forward to sue him for sexual abuse and IBLP for covering it up. But after the lawsuit was dismissed due to the statute of limitations, Gothard countersued the women for $18,000 each. Ultimately, he lost the case.
  21. And finally, the influence that IBLP and Gothard's teachings have had is extensive. According to Eve Ettinger, an educator and ex-Quiverfull, the ministry's ideas were the basis for "The Joshua Generation." Alex Harris, a lawyer and former Joshua Generation leader, defines the movement as "a decades-long multi-generational plan to raise up an elite strike force of Christian homeschool graduates to infiltrate the highest levels of government." Basically, kids are being born and raised specifically for the purpose of spreading the conservative Christian message across America.

2023.06.05 04:09 sashy311 My current world was started August 2021 - should I just start over?

Hi :) I am one of those players that plays a bunch in a week then not again for months. So my current world was started in August 2021. I know the game has been updated several times since then. I know that (most? if not all?) new items drop in old worlds but I am not getting any new biomes. While I am not very far in the game, I have however put a tonne of time into building stuff, although the majority of it would be easy to re-build if needed.

So I am wondering... since I am very early in hardmode (i.e. I haven't beaten a mechanical boss yet), with my world being so old, am I missing enough at this point that it would be worth it to just start over? Or am I getting enough of the new content that I am not missing enough to start over?

2023.06.05 04:03 HercHuntsdirty Should I Text Her After Breakup (6 Years Together) To Show How Much I Value Fixing What We Had?

TL;DR AT BOTTOM
Never thought I’d be bringing this to Reddit, but here I am!
I (26M) was recently broken up with by my (24F) girlfriend of 6 years right after opening up to her about how I had been struggling a lot mentally recently. That's not necessarily the cause, but it happens to be a terrible coincidence.
Backstory:
About 10 weeks ago I had a very long night out and woke up extremely hungover. My brother met up with me that night in our parents car and ended up staying with us for a few drinks, so evidently he left the car.
Of course, I woke up and had a boatload of caffeine so I was already on edge a little bit. My brother was still asleep, so my mom asked me if I could quickly drive my dad to the car so he could take it home. No problem, I hopped in my car and drove there with my dad.
On the way home, completely unprovoked and no anxiety prior, I had an insane panic attack. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. I think I’ve only had one panic attack in my life, and for some reason it left me with a very small amount of social anxiety. During this attack, my hands and feet were completely numb and sweating. At first, I had literally no idea what was going on - I thought it was a legitimate health issue. I ended up taking a bit to drive home, but I made it.
Since then, I've just had heightened anxiety. I've had one other panic attack in the past and I eventually got over the lingering anxiety, so I knew it wasn't permanent.
Mental Health Backstory on her end:
To preface this, we both have anxiety/depression in our genetics unfortunately. In fact, her mom spent some time in the hospital when they were young because of how bad it got.
She also apparently had a ton of anxiety from work recently (she's a nurse, I'm in tech).
On my mothers side of the family, my mom, grandma and great grandma have struggled with anxiety their entire lives, some of them taking antidepressants.
Not fun genes for either of us to have, but we persevered!
Our Relationship:
This is what has been getting to me, our relationship was very healthy. We argued probably 2-3 times per year, we spent the majority of days together - as we lived only a 5 minute drive apart. We were both fully a part of each other's families. All of the normal relationship stuff, we were completely engulfed in it. We had also been looking at engagement rings for a bit and ALWAYS talked about our life together.
When I was about 19 before we were together, I used to drunkenly talk about her all of the time to my friends saying "if she ever gets out of the relationship with her boyfriend (at that time) she's the one I'm going for". When I was graduating high school, I went into her class on yearbook day, grabbed her yearbook and wrote my number in it. Long story short, she ended up single and within a month of that happening, we were together.
The "problems" we had over the years that were semi-recurring:
I didn't suggest enough of our plans. I explained to her a number of times that I'd happily go anywhere, I just don't tend to suggest ideas because sometimes she wanted to, other times she didn't. I've lived by the motto "happy wife, happy life" in that relationship, so I tended to go along with whatever she suggested.
We didn't take enough pictures together. I don't really like being in too many pictures and that bothered her.
We didn't travel together enough. This goes back to the anxiety, I hate flying and haven't done it in almost a decade. However, I have an appointment with my doctor in early July where I'm requesting some "emergencies only" anxiety medication to use for that exact scenario. Note - she went on a number of trips over the years with her closest friends. Furthermore, we had done weekend getaways via car together but those apparently don't count. To add, her friends are hopping on planes at least once per month to go somewhere, I think comparison became the thief of joy here.
I didn't tell her I loved her enough or hug her enough. This one is hard for me because I felt like I definitely told her I loved her a lot. She used to occasionally say "do you even love me", semi-joking but also serious, and I always told her of course I did and even though I may not say it a number of times a day, of course I do. I also did a TON of things for her to show how much I cared (ie. she very rarely had to make a lunch for work, I cooked for her almost every day and we don't even live together) The hugging thing is a bit different, as she's always been extremely affectionate and I never really have been. I truly think it comes down to how I was raised, affection just wasn't a huge part of my childhood. (note, that's not a problem for me or anything, I had incredible family/parents, it just wasn't as prominent as it was in her childhood)
I cared a lot about money and how we could set ourselves up to move out. She had taken 5 trips (two of them by train, three by plane) with her friends in the past year and after the 5th one I asked if she planned on slowing down so she could focus on tackling her student debt and so we could start saving to move out, have a wedding etc. Specifically, I wanted us to be in the position where we weren't renting a home, ESPECIALLY given how much money we were making combined. This part kind of confused me because she was the first one to suggest moving out, but when it came time to adjusting the lifestyle to prepare for it, she didn't like the idea. But, I did use it as a crutch for my anxiety to get out of things sometimes and I did open up to her about that. As an example though, I still went with her to the Gucci store and helped her pick out a very expensive purse to celebrate getting her first real nursing job after graduating. I don't feel that I cared about money (especially given the stage we were in in our lives) more than any of my buddies with girlfriends. I wanted us to be set up well for the coming stages of our lives; they were fast approaching. Furthermore, her friends are catching a plane every weekend and are living with their parents but pay cheque to pay cheque with no prospects of ever leaving unless it's renting
The Situation:
About 7-ish weeks ago, a few weeks after my panic attack, my girlfriend was very adamant that we needed to book a trip together. She said we hadn't been on a "real" trip during our relationship (by real, she means getting on a plane). We were sitting down in her bed on my laptop looking at destinations and flights, but I was incredibly anxious about the whole thing. As we were about to book, I broke down and was fully vulnerable to her for one of the first times in the 6 year relationship. I said that I just don't see myself getting onto a plane right now without some kind of medication to calm me down. On top of that, it would stress me out financially a bit, as I'm a full-time masters student and working full time. Plus, it was during my one-week semester break, so I honestly just wanted to relax.
From that day on, our relationship started going downhill. She said she felt extremely disappointed by the whole situation and she couldn't shake the feeling. We then started only hanging out maybe once per week and it was very bland when we did. A couple weeks after that incident, I slept over at her house and I could tell she was genuinely just not happy at that time.
Brief backstory - despite being 26, my mom still gives me a ton of flack if I sleep at her house. It was rare that I got away with it. But, I did it that night anyway because she always asked me to sleep over but I rarely wanted to have to deal with my mom. I thought it would help show her I'm really trying to get better. She also invited me over the following evening and I obviously went.
After that day, I don't think we saw each other for about 2 weeks. I texted her on a Friday evening and said I just don't feel like she wants to be with me anymore. She picked me up so we could talk, and explained that she felt very disappointed about how we were so close to booking the trip and ended up not doing it. She said she needed a break and I was fine with it, I understood where she was coming from.
During this time, I started seeing a therapist. I found one online who was one of the highest rated in my province and was also extremely experienced in marital/pre-marital counselling so I could tell her about the relationship issues I was having along with my anxiety.
Fast forward about 2 more weeks (last weekend) she texted me saying she was ready to talk and picked me up. She said it's probably best if we just end the relationship for the time being. She explained that she felt she had been disappointed a few times over the years and was bottling a lot of things up. She said she needed time to "find herself again" and didn't know if we would get back together at all in the future or not. Then, we sat there talking in her car for another 30 minutes like things were normal so it really threw me off.
I ended up texting her the next day and asked if I could pick her up because I was confused from the night prior since we talked so normally after the breakup conversation. We ended up talking again, sharing some tears and what not, but I kind of understood why she felt she needed to be alone for a bit, even though she didn't know if we would get back together or not. She said that people do this all of the time and sometimes they come back stronger, but if it was meant to be then we'll get back together. I also told her about how much help I'm getting and how I'm setting a goal to take a vacation when I finish my masters in November. She was noticeably happy and asked a lot about how I was talking to my therapist about improving as a person and a (what I thought was soon to be) fiancé. She asked for all of the details about what we talked about in regards to our relationship and was very happy that I was putting that much effort in.
A couple days ago is when she deleted are photos together, but it came right after she posted an Instagram story while out with a friend who has no stability whatsoever. This friend has been on and off with the same guy (who treats her terribly) for as long as we were together. Not to mention, she sleeps around a ton. I can't help but feel like some of this breakup is being influenced by her friends (specifically this one) wanting her to be single like they are out of jealousy or something. Or, they want her to be flying somewhere once a month with them with no plans for the future. My girlfriend has cried to me in the past because she had been brought to places she didn't want to be because her friend wanted to go for a guy. That friend has also been binge drinking several times weekly for years. The following night, her two friends posted a story of her incredibly drunk in the back of a car with her feet out of the window I'm sure in hopes that I would see it. We're grown ass adults, I can't help but feel like that's just not a cool thing to do to your friend in general? I don't care how drunk you are, in fact I expected her to have a night out with her friends and let loose but posting someone else like that is just insanely stupid to me! To put the icing on the cake, one of my long time buddies from high school decided to go for one of her friends and I gave him substantial warnings about her. Within a year, that relationship was completely over with and she was on to the next.
Neither of us were ever the type one to have one-night stands or get around, so I'm not concerned about anything like that during the breakup. If it happens it happens, but I won't be sleeping with anyone until I've put in all of my effort to saving everything we've built. She's only ever been with me and her ex, while I've had a handful more partners before her - but I've experienced enough in my 26 years to know that there was is only one woman for me.
After all of this, I still couldn't shake the feeling that I felt I was being abandoned during the one time in my entire life I've opened up to anyone and really wanted some support. I'm also just having a hard time processing why it happened and how I can salvage it.
I've texted her once per week since the breaks & breakup happened just telling her that I loved her and wished we were going to XYZ events coming up. I also always say in the message that "You don't have to respond or even read it, I just want you to know". I'm having a hard time deciding if I should continue giving her that weekly text or not, but I really do want her to know how much I care and thought we were a dream team.
I just can't help but feel like we had "problems" that were very fixable and were very minor compared to 99% of couples. Her two best friends have had 5+ boyfriends each in the time that we were together and countless one-night stands. Every time they would break up, I'd hear a story from my girlfriend about how terribly they were treated by these guys and we talked about how lucky we are to have each other. There was no forms of jealousy or self-consciousness between us either, neither of us were bothered when we went out alone with our respective friend groups. I also never for a second worried when she travelled with her friends that she'd cheat or something.
This wraps in with why I can't process the breakup. Aside from the few things we argued about here and there (few times a year) it was an incredibly healthy relationship. I had a great relationship with her friends (despite some of the things I've said about them above) and would often times opt to go out drinking with her group over my group of buddies. I acknowledged my shortcomings as a boyfriend (ie. the affection) with my therapist and she's giving me some help with it. Am I crazy for thinking that we can easily salvage everything we’ve built over 6 years?
TL;DR - We had a very healthy relationship, never argued, no cheating, but she said I didn’t tell her I loved her enough or wasn’t affectionate enough. Said she doesn’t know if we’ll get back together or not. I’ve been texting her once a week just to say I hope she had a good weekend, to let me know if she wants to talk and that I love her. Should I continue it?

  5. Questions regarding Medical Eligibility (except Vision) will be removed, as no one here is qualified to answer whether or not you will be able to join with whatever condition you have. Likewise, questions asking what conditions in general would lead to disqualification will also be removed. If you have such a question, you're encouraged to review the Medical FAQ. Questions regarding the Recruiting Medical Process, Trade Eligibility Standards, or the documentation you need to submit regarding your medical condition as part of your application may still be accepted. Vision requirements are fine to post, as the categories are publicly known. Source
  6. If you report a comment, or have concern about info being provided, Message the Mods, and provide a link. Without context or explanation, the report will be ignored. Comments may be removed at Moderator discretion, with or without warning.
