2023.06.08 08:47 TheShadowspawn Chapter Fifty-Two – Negotiations Part 2
Human Dave: “I don’t think this thing fits me anymore, Commander.”
Human Dave enters the hallway, after having changed into more official clothing in anticipation of the diplomatic negotiations.
Commander Beckett: “Nonsense. It fits just fine, Anders.”
HD: “Yeah, as long as I don’t need to breathe or anything.”
Human Dave manages to get a finger in between his neck and the collar of the official robes he used to wear back when he was a diplomat; in an attempt at loosening the choking sensation he was feeling around his throat.
Commander Beckett slaps Human Dave’s hand away from the collar of his robes.
CB: “You’ll rip it if you keep fiddling with it.”
HD: “… never thought I’d live to see the day when you act like a mother hen, Commander.”
CB: “As the person in charge of you for about half of the bullshit you pulled during your Specialist days, I was doing nothing but.”
HD, grinning: “Yes, but I never saw that, did I?”
CB, exasperated: “Get your arse into that damn conference chamber, Anders.”
HD: “Wait. Did Terran High Command have anything for me? Shouldn’t I get some kind of list of what we want?”
CB: “Personally, I’d just be happy if we don’t go to war with them. Terran High Command, however, has decided to leave it to you to decide what’s best for us. As the only human who has interacted with the Keltiss in any significant manner, you know more about them than we do, which means that you will have the best chance at getting the best outcome for Humanity.”
HD: “… brilliant. No pressure, then.”
...
Alien Captain: “Human Dave, I do not understand why you wish for me to accompany you for this negotiation.”
HD: “That’s an easy enough question to answer, Captain. Did you still want to do the negotiations on your own?”
AC: “Absolutely not. The Keltiss will devour me, and enslave my people.”
HD: “They really won’t, Captain. They have far too much respect for you, as the one who tamed the beast that ended the Hunt. Hell, they might even fear you, since you decided to bring the little guy along.”
AC: “… is this why you are bringing Minnie along with you? For the intimidation factor?”
HD: “… maybe?”
AC: “Human Dave, will this not cause undue stress to the Keltiss, who are to be our future allies?”
HD: “… now that I think about it, it’s probably not the best of ideas. I’ll just go put her back, and we can get this show on the road.”
Commander Beckett walks up to the pair as they are moving back towards Captain’s ship.
CB: “There you are. Come on; they’ve already waited too long as it is.”
HD: “Wait a second, Commander. Just have to drop this little lady back to the ship first.”
CB: “There’s no time, Anders. Just bring it with you.”
Commander Beckett grabs Human Dave by the arm, and all but drags him along.
The Viscer-Tel on Captain’s shoulder squawks as Human Dave, Commander Beckett and Minnie continue down the hallway without them.
AC, to himself: “Well, this will either go wonderfully or terribly.”
...
No sooner than after Commander Beckett had all but dragged Human Dave to the conference chamber, the pair encountered a familiar face.
Keltiss War-kin: “Ah, Human Dave. It is good to see you once more.”
HD: “War-kin. I didn’t know you were coming along. If I had, I would have come to greet you earlier.”
KW: “My presence here is a formality, Human Dave. As the official witness, I am the one who will vouch for Humanity to enter an alliance with the Scattered Tribes. Should the negotiations fail, I will be punished, as the one to offer the alliance.”
HD: “Then I’ll do what I can to make sure that the negotiations are successful. The last thing I want is for anyone here to get hurt.”
KW: “I am honoured that you would treat one such as I with such importance, Human Dave.”
HD: “Anything I should know before we go in?”
The War-kin sees the Aflarrian in Human Dave’s arms, and bares his teeth in a facsimile of a grin.
KW: “By bringing the nightmare beast, you start from a position of power. The various Chief-kin will respect this power-play, and know the prowess of Humanity.”
AC: “… and what of this one, War-kin?”
The War-kin looks at Captain, and immediately recoils at the sight of the Viscer-Tel on his shoulder.
KW: “… by virtue of its mere presence, Captain, you will be honoured as Master of the First Hunt, and be afforded every respect a Keltiss is capable of giving.”
CB: “Well, if we’re all done now, get in there, Anders. Go break a leg.”
Commander Beckett walks off after saying this, leaving behind one slightly nervous human, and two very confused sentients.
AC: “Human Dave, what did Commander Beckett mean when he said for you to ‘break a leg’?”
KW: “Does your commanding officer wish for harm to befall you during the negotiations?”
HD: “No, it’s a figure of speech. He’s hoping I do well, and said ‘break a leg’ as a way of wishing me good luck.”
AC: “… seems a strange way to wish someone luck, Human Dave.”
KW: “Agreed.”
Human Dave hands off Minnie to Captain, and rubs his hands together in a nervous manner.
HD: “Well, come on, then. We may as well get this over with sooner rather than later.”
...
As the doors to the conference chamber slid open automatically, Human Dave walked in to see very many Keltiss of differing types.
The red-scaled War-kin standing imposingly along the borders of the chamber.
The white-scaled Shaman-kin, all seated in a small ring near the entrance to the chamber.
The grey-scaled Elder-kin, whose focus seemed to wane with every passing moment.
And the Green-scaled Chief-kin, all wearing elaborate headdresses made of the bones of various large animals.
As Human Dave enters, all eyes turn to him, and his composure slips for a moment, before he recalls his training, and strides into the room, calm as can be.
HD, to himself: “Remember what the data packet said, Dave. They’re direct, and respect bluntness.”
Human Dave walks up to the podium situated in front of the crowd of Keltiss in front of him.
HD: “I am Human David Anders, the designated voice of Terra. Who speaks for the Keltiss?”
The Designated Speaker stands up from his seated position, and turns to face Human Dave.
KS: “I am Chief-kin Ta’or; Designated Speaker for the Scattered Tribes of Keltiss. We have come to forge an alliance with Terra.”
HD: “Terra asks the Designated Speaker of the Keltiss: what are the terms of this alliance?”
KS: “The Keltiss demand mutual assistance, and a pact of non-aggression. Terra’s enemies will be enemies of Keltiss, and the enemies of Keltiss will be the enemies of Terra. When one side fights, the other will fight alongside. Nothing more, and nothing less.”
HD: “…”
AC: “…”
KW: “Are the terms acceptable for Terra?”
HD: “… is that all?”
KW: “... are our demands too extravagant, Speaker for Terra? We Keltiss are a warring people, and we may have enemies, but we do not wage war lightly. If the terms are too much, then we will—”
HD: “No, Designated Speaker. The terms are more than acceptable. It’s just… we humans expected your terms to be more… well, we expected to have to do a lot more to secure an alliance with the Scattered Tribes of Keltiss.”
KS: “The Keltiss may be nothing more than scattered tribes, but we are an honourable people. We do not kill for the sake of killing. And we do not demand anything more from our allies than we would not be willing to do ourselves.”
HD: “I can see that. The terms are accepted, Designated Speaker.”
KS: “Then, henceforth, our alliance is forged!”
The Keltiss present all let out roars of happiness, spooking both Captain and Minnie, who jumps out of Captain’s arms and runs to Human Dave for protection.
One of the Chief-kin sees this, and begins to panic.
Keltiss Chief-kin: “NIGHTMARE BEAST!”
The surrounding War-kin stand at attention and start scanning the room, looking for the threat.
Human Dave crouches down and picks up Minnie, to the horror of the surrounding Keltiss.
KS: “Speaker for Terra, do not move!”
HD, smiling: “It’s alright, Designated Speaker. This one is with me.”
Human Dave starts stroking Minnie, and a purring trill escapes her, much to the fear of the surrounding Keltiss.
Captain steps forward, and raises his arms in a placating manner.
AC: “Honoured Keltiss, the Aflarrian- the Nightmare Beast has been tamed by Human Dave. It will not prove to be a threat unless you intend to harm it, or Human Dave.”
The words seem to calm down the Keltiss somewhat, until they realise where the words originated from, and see the creature on Captain’s shoulder.
KS: “VISCER-TEL!”
The surrounding Keltiss all stiffen, terrified of drawing the attention of the creature sitting calmly on Captain’s shoulder.
The Viscer-Tel cocks its head, looking around at what was a room filled with movement, which has now all stopped.
The War-kin that entered with Human Dave and Captain speaks up for the first time.
KW, bowing lowly: “Honoured Chief-kin, Revered Elder-kin, Treasured Shaman-kin, brother War-kin; the Viscer-Tel upon the Cradelian’s shoulder is the same one spoken of when the Hunt was witnessed. It will not bring harm upon any here unless provoked.”
Keltiss Chief-kin, panicked: “How are we to know what will provoke the creature?”
KW: “Do not bring harm upon the Cradelian, or the Human voice for Terra.”
Silence reigns throughout the conference room, before the Designated Speaker breaks it with a question.
KS: “This Cradelian is the Master of the First Hunt?”
HD: “Correct, Designated Speaker.”
KS: “… he speaks for his people?”
HD: “Also correct, Designated Speaker.”
AC, whispering: “Human Dave, what are you doing?”
HD, whispering: “Trust me.”
AC: “…”
HD: “Captain speaks for his people, but as we can all see, the various creatures we have had to bring with us have derailed the negotiations somewhat. What are the terms for an alliance with the Cradelians?”
KS: “The same as with Terra.”
Human Dave nudges Captain with his elbow, and tilts his head in a manner that seems to indicate to Captain that he should agree.
AC: “The terms are accepted, Designated Speaker.”
KS: “Then, henceforth, Cradelian, our alliance is forged!”
The room is filled with silence at the proclamation, as none of the surrounding Keltiss seem to want to do anything to draw attention to themselves in the presence of two apex predator species.
...
Human Dave, Captain, and Commander Beckett are walking through the hallways leading back to the Trailblazer’s docking bay.
HD: “Well, that went better than expected.”
CB: “You’re telling me. They couldn’t wait to get off the Trailblazer fast enough after the negotiations were finished.”
HD: “That was partly your fault, Commander.”
CB: “Me? What did I do?”
HD: “You didn’t let me put this little lady back on Captain’s ship. Almost caused a diplomatic incident; letting an apex predator into a room full of diplomats.”
CB: “What? This little thing?”
Commander Beckett extends his hand towards Minnie, and gives her chin a little scratch.
Minnie leans into the touch, and begins to purr, happy with the attention she was getting.
AC: “At least I do not have to go through with that on my own cradle-world.”
HD: “Aren’t you glad you trusted me, Captain?”
AC: “… I suppose I am, Human Dave. Thank you for the help.”
HD: “Now, how are we going to let the Galactic Community know about the alliances forged today?”
CB: “Oh, they should already know. Terran High Command should have made an announcement that should spread throughout the Galactic Community within the next few days.”
HD: “I’ll bet that’ll go over well with everyone. Especially anyone already allied with Terra.”
CB: “Terran High Command will just have to smooth over any ruffled feathers when it happens.”
HD: “Speaking of ruffled feathers; Captain, aren’t we late for a cargo shipment?”
AC: “… crap.”

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is one of the franchise's more enjoyable outings.

Sample Reviews: It’s got a relatable human story that works, and thanks to a script that actually has sustained bursts of dialogue, the robots felt more real to me as characters than they usually do. - Owen Gleiberman, Variety
These Hasbro action figures, and their onscreen incarnations, are capable of reducing even the most mature, jaded adult into an awestruck child who just wants to get down on the floor and play with them. - Frank Scheck, Hollywood Reporter
Rise of the Beast is another generic story about an intergalactic menace from the sky carries all the plot predictability of a broken clock. - Valerie Complex, Deadline Hollywood Daily
Rekindles something akin to Sam Raimi’s first two “Spider-man” films, remembering that at the heart of many an emotionally worthwhile mainstream flick, regardless of its scope or hefty VFX budget, are underdogs who defy their impossible circumstances. - Tomris Laffly, TheWrap
Look, maybe we should be anxious. ChatGPT clearly could have a written a better movie.
1/4 - Mark Kennedy, Associated Press
Unable to rise above this internal conflict, it’s a film that’s both dull and disposable. Though it sets up the opportunity for more interconnected franchise filmmaking, this is a beast that needs to be put down.
1.5/4 - Katie Walsh, Tribune News Service
The series has thankfully, found its way out of the doldrums of the Michael Bay era and discovered a satisfying groove of nostalgic bliss.
3/4 - Brian Truitt, USA Today
I liked this story better when it was called “The Lord of the Rings.” I didn’t even mind it in 2018, when it was called “Avengers: Infinity War.” “Rise of the Beasts” is like an unlistenable cover of a once-decent song.
0/4 - Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle
No Michael Bay. No Mark Wahlberg. No oppressive bombast.
3.5/4 - Soren Andersen, Seattle Times
It’s not a revolution, and it’s not trying to be. But it is proof that even the most one-dimensional concepts can connect on a deeper level if treated with care.
2.5/4 - John Wenzel, Denver Post
Everything has a vague partial finish, as if director Steve Caple Jr and the five-person brain trust responsible for the script banked on the audience’s familiarity with the shape of a movie to fill in the gaps they’ve left.
1/5 - Charles Bramesco, Guardian
On the positive side, at just over two hours it’s one of the shortest in the Transformers franchise, and so unfolds like a brutalising yet mercifully limited attack on the occipital lobe.
1/5 - Kevin Maher, Times (UK)
Under-tens hooked on the Hasbro toys that inspired this whole series, will be intoxicated by Mirage, but for parents and/or guardians this will still be a harrowingly dull and disjointed experience, with the plot making less sense by the second.
2/5 - Charlotte O'Sullivan, London Evening Standard
Don’t even get us started on its flagrant and clumsy attempt to set up a Hasbro Cinematic Universe.
2/5 - Dan Jolin, Empire Magazine
It’s as if some executive saw Mattel and Greta Gerwig turning “Barbie” into genuine art, so they made a George Costanza-style decision to veer in the opposite direction purely out of spite.
D - Christian Zilko, indieWire
Gives you some people to care about, sprinkled among the clanging heavy machinery that remains the real star of the series. - Alonso Duralde, The Film Verdict
A genuinely entertaining summer blockbuster, with its high point being Pete Davidson as Mirage.
B - Liz Shannon Miller, Paste Magazine
It’s still a movie about giant space robots talking trash and smashing into each other, but “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” is better than most offerings in the franchise.
2.5/4 - Christy Lemire, RogerEbert.com
SYNOPSIS: Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world,
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new faction of Transformers – the Maximals – to join them as allies in the existing battle for earth.

2023.06.08 04:11 Cassaroll168 Art car had catastrophic failure, looking for ideas to adjust design
Images here Link to sketchup rendering of design Hey everyone! Could use your help in thinking of ways to save our beautiful peacock art car. The feathers on the car have been bent to shit and we need a way to reinforce them without sacrificing aesthetics too much. The five metal feathers are cantilevered off of the back at around 120 degrees. Looking from the front, the outside feathers are angled out from the vertical at about 15 and 30 degrees. Each weighs between 15-25 lbs and is about 9 feet long. The feathers use steel square tubing for the structural support "quill," laser cut aluminum for the pretty parts.
We attempted to reduce bending by supporting the feathers from the front using dyneema rope (which is supposed to have minimal stretch) anchored to each, high on the feather. These five ropes were then tied to a single ring which was then tensioned using a single piece of dyneema through a cam cleat and tied off with a dock cleat (my dad is a sailor). We also attempted to reduce bending to the side on the outside feathers by tying them to each other (imagine the five feathers as the fingers of your hand, we tied the thumb to the pinky and separately the pointer to the ring finger).
This worked fairly well for a few years but significant bouncing (rough roads) at last years event slowly bent the steel tubing "quills" at the supports leading to catastrophic failure on the last night. All five feathers are significantly bent. We are attempting to find ways to change the design or add to what we currently have to make sure our feathers do not bend in the future. We have bent them each back to straight (though I'm worried they have lost their structural integrity in the process) and inserted solid steel into each to try to reinforce them (though I worry that the added weight cancels out the added strength).
Curious what ideas you all might have or feedback you can give.
Some ideas we have with drawbacks in parentheses:
- Horizontal support shelf underneath the feathers in the back with vertical beams going up to a high point on each feather to stop them from falling back/down (attachments will be difficult, lots of work, affects aesthetics)
- Weld second set of quills on back and sides of current quills with spacers between (unclear whether it will work, may have to redo lighting)
- Replace some portion or all of quills with next size up steel tubing and weld new sleeve supports on top of current ones with next size up tubing (lots of work)
- Support from front with steel cables with turnbuckles instead of rope, secure each cable to its own hook rather than coming to a single point (unclear whether it will be enough on its own, not all that different from what we’ve already done)
- 90 degree supports going back and up to support feather higher, similar to horizontal shelf (affects aesthetics, unclear how supports attach or how big/tall they will have to be to be useful)
- Weld thick metal tabs on back and sides of sleeves to support, moving bending moment up feather (these will likely eventually bend too)
- Change angle of feathers (lots of work, may not solve problem)

2023.06.08 04:07 Cassaroll168 Ideas to reduce bending moment on cantilevered element of my Burning Man art car
Images here Link to sketchup rendering of design Just began my BS in ME so forgive me if I'm not using correct terminology, trying to communicate the issue as specifically as possible. We built a peacock art car for burning man and cantilevered five metal feathers off of the back at around 120 degrees. Looking from the front, the outside feathers are angled out from the vertical at about 15 and 30 degrees. Each weighs between 15-25 lbs and is about 9 feet long.

2023.06.08 03:19 Select-Boot-6445 I've been playing guitar for a few months now and I'm stuck.
I've been trying to learn Why Georgia by John Mayer but in the first verse you have to have your fingers on the 2nd and 3rd fret and then use your pinky to hammer on a string on the 5th fret (and I can't reach it with my pinky) and I was wondering if there's any ways to help with either increasing the space between my pinky and ring finger or if there was a more simple way to play it (other than strumming because I like the sound of picking the strings) thank you in advance

2023.06.08 01:29 onewatt The "Wisdom Literature" of the Bible: Perspectives on Human Suffering (and Other Stuff You May Not Know or Learn in Sunday School)
As we hit the book of Job in the Bible this month, it's worth looking at the "big picture" of the text, which almost never happens in Sunday School.
Job is one of three books in the Bible that are not considered historical. Their original authors are unknown and they probably were copied, edited, and written for over a thousand years. These books are Job, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes.
These books contain three main types of wisdom:
- Folk wisdom contained in short pithy statements, such as " A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. " (proverbs 31:10)
- Royal wisdom on how to deal with politics and bureaucracy, such as "When you sit down to eat with a ruler, observe carefully what is before you, and put a knife to your throat if you have a big appetite. Do not desire the ruler's delicacies, for they are deceptive food." (proverbs 23:1-3)
- Theological wisdom on deep topics of a spiritual nature.
The most constant and over-arching wisdom addressed by all three books is consideration of the question, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" Or rather, if God is good, why is there human suffering? Professor of Theology, David Penchansky, says that the ancient sages who wrote these texts "believed in a balanced universe in which the good are rewarded for their goodness and the evil are punished. These two sources were in tension at times; human experience showed that sometimes good people suffer and evil people sleep peacefully. The sages agonized over the contradictions in their system and took different sides in their debates. " (
David Penchansky, "What Is Wisdom Literature?", n.p. [cited 1 Aug 2022]. Online: https://www.bibleodyssey.org:443/en/passages/related-articles/what-is-wisdom-literature )
You can see the debates still ringing through these three books.
- Proverbs seems to teach that if you do good, good is your reward, and the universe is fair and orderly.
- Ecclesiastes seems to teach that no matter what you do the result is randomness and meaningless.
- Job seems to say that the things that happen to us aren't because of our goodness or badness, but part of a larger plan (but then contradicts this idea with Job being rewarded for his goodness... so...).
I can't recommend the Bible Project wisdom literature video series enough to see how these books represent different perspectives on our shared experiences of living and suffering. Watch them here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gab04dPs_uA&list=PL4jGSR4csHzqjSjSDrR8OIfNyh5Wuu7q5 As you study these books and participate in Sunday School classes, keep these things in mind. If a teacher suggests that a certain verse or section of the text is a complete explanation of the why behind suffering, remember that these texts are meant to provide a multitude of perspectives, not a solid answer to that most difficult of questions.
Especially remember how the restoration has brought new, additional
perspective on human suffering and how God speaks to us.

2023.06.08 00:10 CaptainFalling 32m - Making friends as an adult is way harder than it should be! Let's fix that!
Hey folks!
I have realised I am socially isolated and have been for far too long! I would love to meet some new people to chat with, game with, even meet up with in thw future! I am looking to make real friendships that will hopefully last as long as possible, mobility scooter grand prix anyone?
So a little about me: I am a 32 year old, disabled dad. I am very much the modern nerd, I love gaming, movies, cosplay, anime, all that good pop culture stuff! I am also very artsy, I do a lot of digital work at the moment, mostly colour work for peoples line art! I love fashion, make up, and photography, as well as modelling.
I would like to think I am fairly intelligent. Kind, compassionate, and pretty easy going. I have a whole load of different interests and am always eager to learn about new things!
I suck at these "about me" things so feel free to ask me anything! I'll leave a random ice breaker here:
Half of these facts are false, can you guess which ones they are? -I have arms longer than my legs. -I have had art shown in the British Museum. -I am related to Mick Jagger. -I have been on TV. -I cannot bend my toes. -I have never read The Lord of the Rings. -I have incredibly small pinkie fingers. -I cannot taste sugar. -I am missing most of my upper teeth -I have a pet rock called Sydney.

2023.06.07 21:00 Bass_slapper_ Help my pinky!
I’m doing quite well keeping my fingers close to the fretboard so that they’re ready to fret the next note, but I find it physically impossible to keep my pinky near the fretboard. It’s stuck completely up until I fret with my ring finger, does this happen with every bassist or is there a fix for this?

2023.06.07 19:29 USArmyRecon Cradle: The Road so Far (Reaper - Refresher for Waybound)
Carry on my wayward son, There'll be peace when you are done, Lay your weary head to rest, Don't you cry no more…..
—————————
This was originally a MUCH more detailed post but I couldn’t get it to post. I assumed the issue had to be size so I cut down quite a bit. I will be posting detailed posts for each book separately instead while adding back details to this post. I chose Reaper first because events in book ten set up the final leg of several key storylines more so than any other book.
Reaper begins in Refuge, in the Desolate Wilds. To Lindon’s surprise, the new Twin Star Sect crops up around him, thanks to Eithan and Jai Chen.
The Blackflame emperor Naru Human arrives in Refuge via cloudship with provisions for the grateful refugees, loudly hailing the empire’s new Sage and Herald, Yerin.
Soon after, Lindon takes his family and his young acolytes to Serpent’s Grave. In Serpent’s Grave, the Twin Star Sect is given a school building.
Just as life seems to settle down Eithan begins to sense something is happening out west, towards Sacred Valley.
Eithan and Lindon leave to check it out and as they approach Lindon’s home valley, they see that the rings around Mount Samara have changed.
Why? Because in an effort to rule over all of Cradle, Monarch Reigan Shen has switched the cores beneath each holy peak in order to awaken all the Dreadgods at once.
Shen thinks he can assume control of them, and use them to kill all the other Monarchs.
Meanwhile, as Lindon and Eithan draw nearer to Sacred Valley, Lindon is suddenly flattened by a powerful burst of hunger aura while his Copper sight is open.
When he comes to, his friends are at his side and they all reluctantly agree to go check out the labyrinth with Eithan and Lindon.
They enter the Labyrinth via the Ancestor’s Tomb, high on Mount Samara. Bad assness ensues down in the Labyrinth, and simultaneously, a battle against the Dreadgod Cults on the mountain outside.
The weakened lion Monarch battles Lindon and co but fails to kill them.
He steals the ancient Soulforge belonging to Ozmanthus Arelius and kills Subject One and takes his core, in an effort to control the Dreadgods.
Eithan teaches Lindon advanced soulsmithing with soulfire and gives him a soulforge in a void key.
Lindon immediately forges a powerful hammer and spear.
Mercy advances to Overlady.
Lindon advances to Archlord. He wins the trust of the entire Labyrinth and with its power invested in him, he first takes Subject One’s arm to rebuild his prosthetic, and then he sends Shen and the Dreadgod cults far away.
After Lindon learns the truth about the Dreadgods he is confronted by Monarch Akura Malice as she tries to intimidate Lindon into secrecy…..kinda works for now due to power gap and Lindon must swear an oath to Monarch Akura that he won’t tell anyone the secret to ridding Cradle of Dreadgods.
Soon afterward, as the story seems to be settling down into a safe ending that probably would’ve been unremarkable, the words explode off the page as we get one of the greatest scenes/reveals in the history of scenes and reveals!!!!
As Lindon, his friends and Eithan are discussing crap, the Mad King comes out of nowhere to erase Cradle with a scythe created by Abidan Judge Makiel.
With literally no hope of Cradle surviving otherwise, Eithan crushes his black marble, removing his origin shroud and all restrictions.
Suddenly Ozriel is standing there in Eithan’s place. Simultaneously blowing your f’n mind and leaving you in tears, all while saying I knew it…… Ozreil in all his badassness confronts dick face, but the Mad King realizing he done f’d up escapes into the Void.
In reality though the Mad King’s escape was a Good thing, as Ozriel is rusty as f and not yet at full strength. Oz/Eithan tells the kids he loved every minute of his time with them. (Definitely NOT crying at this emotional goodbye)
The Abidan judges led by Suriel arrest Ozriel.
Suriel, the one who saw in Lindon what no one else did all those years ago invited he and his friends to fulfill Ozriel’s plan and become heavenly Reapers.
As we move into book eleven, all four Dreadgods are awake. All four of them are more alert than they’ve been for eons. And Reigan Shen is still Pinky and the Braining it…...
