Places for a Salamander vacation? So far I've been to the Smokey Mountains

2023.03.22 23:42 admaciaszek Places for a Salamander vacation? So far I've been to the Smokey Mountains

I have an absolute obsession with salamanders something about them absolutely enthralls me I live in MA and all the ones here I have seen hundreds of times and I would love to travel to somewhere with a diverse population. A few years back I took a trip to the smokey mountains and I felt like a kid in a candy shop with amazingly diverse and really unique salamanders I have never seen before especially the iconic Red Cheeked Salamander and even went spelunking to see the species of cave salamander. Across the week I identified 12 species a very large percentage of what is there. I felt like I was collecting (only spotting and photographing) all of the pokemon in the tall grass gotta catch them all haha.
I was thinking of returning but also was considering possible other National parks for diverse salamanders. I know this sounds hyper-specific and silly to go on vacation just to find salamanders but this is a big passion for me. If there really is no place quite like the Smokey Mountains for Salamanders what time of the year is the best time to visit to find the most?

2023.03.22 22:55 AFatCracker what substance did my mom find my little cousin doing?

My cousins recently came to visit at my moms house (i dont live there) Liz, her kids, and the one in mention 16M we will call Kai. Theyve since gone home. My mom said during a shopping outing today that kai was acting strange. Like, he acted completely normal the entire time but once said "im going to go outside" but it was super cold, and raining. We are in the south. We dont like the cold. My mom found it strange. Especially since everyone in the family smokes weed, so like... if kai was going for a "weed walk" he'dve just smoked it in the house like no big deal. After they left my mom decided to walk around outside and play detective (my mom is nosey like that)
She said that she found a peice of aluminum foil, not crumpled, but neatly folded in the grass near the fence, clearly attempted to be hidden. She said she hasnt bought foil in a while so she knew it wasnt hers.
In the foil was ash, like cigarette ash. And a white powder. My mom is stupid. She freaked out/panicked threw it over the fence and has been absolutely tripping since trying to think of what it was.
I asked what kais behavior was, she said normal! He wasnt tweaking or anything, he came back inside sat on the couch and chilled there. No issues. She asked my sister, too, a VERY EXPERIENCED recovering addict. And my sister had no idea what it was either. She said it didnt sound familiar.
Liz, kais mom, has a brother named Matt who lives on the same property she does. Matt does a significant amount of drugs. Meth, heroine, you name it hes probably licked smoked or stuck it up in some orifice. Idk i dont talk to these people theyre weird, im tired, and theyre a bunch of theives.. they also live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere country town. So, i would say that the only place Kai couldve gotten it from would be a kid at school, or Matt. Eapecially since Matt doesnt work, and would probably sell it to him.
Anyway, i work security. I said my bet was that it was powdered heroine or coke. But the behavior doesnt track. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the substance would have been? What should my mom do?
She did not tell Liz, Liz is weird and a very negligent mother in general. I could go on about her shitty parenting but id rather not. Just TLDR shes 600lbs life (no. Im not exaggerating) +5 kids from all different dads. No idk how she got 5 different men to impregnante her i would assume they used the same tool they use to inseminate cattle. She doesnt take initiative to anything and frankly neither my mom or i believe she would do anything other than ask Kai what hes doing then roll her eyes about it.
Mom is debating on calling cps or some sort of youth-drug assistance program
Final questions:
What steps should we take?
What substance does this sound like it may be?

2023.03.22 21:27 LostSignal1176 Does anyone use head tracking?

I forget what it was called but my friend used one for flying like.... 20 years ago, lol. It was just an unobtrusive head hat band with a few sensors and some syncing sensors on our around his monitor.
I just want to drive and be able to look left and right by slightly turning my head.
Anyone using anything like this? I don't want VR, that is a "never touch grass again" scenario I don't want to be in.
They've got to be cheap as hell now?
Thanks. Very excited for this 3rd round of amazing.

2023.03.22 20:44 frieden7 My teeth hurt so bad that I feel like death is the only way I will get relief. r/confessions 2014

I am NOT OP. Original post by u/Tomato_Juice99 in confession
DO NOT contact any of the people involved in this. It's against the rules here. I talked with OOP in advance, and he's fine with this post.
Random fact for spoiler space: A rainforest is an area of tall, mostly evergreen trees and a high amount of rainfall. Rainforests are Earth’s oldest living ecosystems, with some surviving in their present form for at least 70 million years.
trigger warnings: possible eating disorder, mention of vomiting, wanting to die
mood spoilers: Positive
Here's a puppy picture for the preview, since some people are sensitive to teeth pics:

My teeth hurt so bad that I feel like death is the only way I will get relief. - December 30th 2014
https://www.reddit.com/confession/comments/2qvy9a/my_teeth_hurt_so_bad_that_i_feel_like_death_is/
My life has been going well for the most part lately and I feel horrible for even thinking of wanting to die to escape the pain. I have 2 kids that need me and a family that loves me, but love doesn't buy new teeth.
I did it to myself back in highschool by throwing up after each meal. I don't smile often and when I actually do I have to cover my mouth because I don't want others to be grossed out by my teeth. Most of the time I just grin to the right side. My kids don't like me going to their school, meeting their friends and teachers because they are embarrassed of my mouth. I try not to show it, but that hurts more than the physical pain I endure from the infection that is spreading.
Anyways, thanks for taking time to read this and I hope that you (the reader) live in a country that would help with dental problems.
Photos of OOPs teeth
It is pretty disgusting) - an xray of cracked and crowded teeth
Here is a regular pic of my teeth as of tonight. It's nasty so look at your own risk) - description from OP: a close up of OOP's mouth. His lips are curled back to reveal his broken teeth, some of which are blackened from cavities.
The user SushiAndWoW replied below:
If this is true, I will pay for your treatment. Either at a place near you, or if it's more cost-effective, I will buy you a ticket to Costa Rica, and for you to get treatment at a reputable clinic here.
You can check my history to see that this is a legitimate account that's not into trolling. I can't help everyone in the world, but I can help you. Your situation hits a nerve with me.
Maybe you can make it up to me by posting before and after pictures, or something. That would be nice to see.
PM me.
Update (2 hours): I'm happy to report that OP contacted me and sent pictures. He does have a problem that needs help. His kids are super cute, they look amazing. I proposed the next steps, which will take some time. This is the first time for me doing this, but I hope things go well, and we will do this. :-) Exchange so far.
Between the dashes is the transcription of the text from the photo of the DMs between OOP and SushiandWoW:
----------------------
Tomato_Juice99 (OOP):
I have never asked anyone for aid before and tonight when I posted I was just venting and hoped that others would be grateful for the help they have to them. When I was first reading your post I thought it was fake. But when I realised that you were being serious I started to cry.
I have included pictures of the X-rays that were taken a few months ago when I got a free exam and pictures of my teeth tonight.
Even if you decide to change your mind for any reason it's fine, just knowing there are people out there that are willing to help a stranger is awesome.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Few things about me real quick: My name is [redacted]
father of [redacted], non-smoker and drug free (was just drug tested at work right before the holidays). I live in [redacted].
SushiandWow replied:
I am happy to hear from you. :-) I received the pictures. If I understand correctly, that's a picture of your [redacted]? They look amazing. :-). I am indeed serious, and my offer stands. I would like to help you with this. All I ask is, because I am not in the US, that you be willing to do the leg work.
I understand that you've already been to a clinic, and they gave you an informal estimate. Well, I would now need you to possibly visit a clinic again, and procure something more formal. Optimally - if you are able to arrange this - I would like to see something like this:
"The situation right now is such and such" - the doctor who has looked at your situation describes your current condition.
• The most effective treatment for this is such and such - the doctor describes what they plan to do.
• The cost of this treatment will be such and such - the doctor commits to a price which they plan to honor.
• The doctor's payment plan and instructions (e.g. if they want all upfront, or deposit first and balance after; wiring info).
This information should be on the clinic's letterhead, and signed by someone with authority (e.g. doctor or clinic administrator). The clinic needs to be something I can look up and verify it exists. The wiring info needs to sensibly correspond to publicly available information.
Can you procure this? For your peace of mind, I am [redacted]. You can confirm my existence at my personal page, my blog, and this is my company's website. [links removed]

Tomato_Juice99 replied:
Sorry, not sure how to send the pics. Thought I linked it.

User danhook replied to SushiandWoW's post:
Dentist here. If we can get him to my office I'll donate my services. I practice in west palm beach and Jacksonville, FL.
Edit 1: Wow!!! Thank you for the gold!!!! I am honored to be involved in helping! I am currently speaking with some suppliers and OP to set everything up. Cheers to a great 2015 for OP!!! Happy New Year!!!

SushiandWoW made another edit to their post:
Update (next day): So many other people have pitched in to help - most significantly danhook**'s** amazing offer. OP set up a fundraiser to help with expenses; it has already attracted some contributions, and I also added to it.
Several people contacted me, and told me of their situations similar to OP's. Each of them deserves just as much attention, but not all of them can get it. Thanks to danhook's generosity, perhaps I can help someone else, too.
Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and wishes. May the New Year find you well. :-)
-----------
SushiandWoW also edited in links to a charity (website no longer works) and some DMs they'd received from people who had experience with dental tourism, positive and negative.

A different user shared this warning to OOP:
This is something you need to take seriously. Oral infections tend to spread to the heart. One of my father's friends died from this. I'm glad these people are willing to help you and I hope they're legit!
OOP replied:
The people that did the x-ray told me that the infection, if left untreated, would kill me. I had no idea how long it was going to take so that very day I started to get everything prepared for the big day. It looks like with the help of so many kind strangers I can put that day off.

[Update]My teeth hurt so bad that I feel like death is the only way I will get relief. - February 7th 2015
https://www.reddit.com/confession/comments/2v4au3/updatemy_teeth_hurt_so_bad_that_i_feel_like_death/

Hello everyone, I know a lot of people requested pics of once I got my teeth done and I have photos here - description from OP: a photo of OOP. He has glasses, close cropped hair, and an open mouthed smile, showing two rows of even white teeth. and here. Description from OP: OOP smiling again to show off new teeth. In this photo, he wears a hat.
So before the turn of the year I made a confession about my oral pain caused by my teeth. I didn't think I would receive much attention if any at all. Well, I was surprised after so many people shared their stories and offered to help. I got a lot in donations and had a couple of offers to do the procedure for free. The story blew up after the offers (most notably sushiandwow and danhook) and picked up by many websites. I am nothing but grateful to each and every person that made this all possible.
After checking to make sure danhook is who he said he was I took him up on his offer to go see him and let him help me. On Feb 1st (Super Bowl Sunday) I went down to Florida to get a hotel room before I met him on Monday. He is cool as sh*+. Totally chill guy that knows what he's talking about and very professional. Anyways, we discussed about what he was going to do and about the timeline for everything since I was only down there until Friday. Wednesday he took out all my top teeth and I got a denture for it. He told me that he wants to save the bottom teeth and after discussing it with another Doctor there they decided it was best. Which I am excited about because a bottom denture would suck.
So as of right now I have a denture on top and nothing was done on my bottom. Sometime in Mid-May to early June I will be going back down to get my permanent top denture, maybe some implants, and get all my bottom teeth fixed. I learned a lot while down there about how to take care and restore my gums and what I need to do so all of this isn't for nothing.
I had an amazing time from the time I left until the time I was home. I did so many new things and it was all thanks to the reddit community. Without you guys, gals and others I would still be in pain.
If anyone has any questions I will try to answer them and I'm sure the dentist danhook will chime in a time or two.
Edit 2/22/2015: Got my kids for the first time since the operation and they love the new teeth. Everybody at work seems to like them as well. I still get people that are jealous, but that's natural. I've been preaching to my kids about the importance of oral care and to not end up like me. Their mom and I don't have good genes when it comes to teeth, so they need to brush, floss and use mouthwash when after breakfast and before going to sleep.

A few recent comments from the original post:
19 days ago someone said
Hey how r ur teeth now 8 years later
Only have my bottom teeth, but they are great. Thank you for asking.

Seven days ago someone who misunderstood OOP's comment replied:
why?? somebody paid THOUSANDS did you neglect them AGAIN??? SMH
The original dentist in Florida took out the top ones and fixed up the bottom ones. I have been taking care of them ever since.

Reminder - I am not the original poster, and don't DM or chat any of the original posters.

2023.03.22 20:12 JRE47 Nifty Or Thrifty: Mountain Cup

The "Nifty Or Thrifty" article series takes a comprehensive look at the meta for PvP Cup formats: Mountain Cup, in this case. As is typical for the NoT series, I'll cover not only the top meta picks, but also some mons where you can save some dust with cheaper second move unlock costs and/or leveling up! Because for those on a stardust budget — and/or folks trying to save up some dust for the future — it can be daunting trying to figure out where to spend or not spend it.
So as I try to usually do, I will start with those with the cheapest second move unlock cost and steam ahead until we finally arrive at the expensive Legendaries. I do try and put extra emphasis on the thriftier stuff, especially for formats like this where you may not use some of these things much in the future. (For a rough guide to reusability, though, I will rank things with ♻️s, with three being solid in other Great League formats, two being okay in at least certain Cup formats, and only one being something that, honestly, you're unlikely to use again.)
A quick reminder of what Mountain Cup is:
Okay, enough intro. Let's dive in!

10,000 Dust/25 Candy

DIGGERSBY ♻️♻️♻️
Mud Shot/Quick Attack Fire Punch & Earthquake/Hyper Beam
So let's talk about Ground, right here from the get-go. This meta is stuffed with Steel and Rock types, both of which Ground hits super effectively (and resists, in the latter case). Ground is, of course, weak to Ice, but even that is somewhat mitigated here with Diggersby's Fire Punch... it may not actually beat many Ices that way, but it at least keeps them on their toes. (As well as, conveniently, Grass types that try and prey on Ground types as well.) In the end, when you add that all up with Diggersby's incredible bulk and extra resistance to Ghost (thanks to its Normal typing), you get this. Not a meta-busting performance, granted, but a very solid one, and one with some alternative options, even. Mud Shot and Earthquake drives wins versus Lucario, Empoleon, and Aurorus, but Quick Attack and Hyper Beam instead slam the door on Walrein, Marshtomp, and Gliscor. Or heck, you can even go with something like Quick Attack/FP/Quake to try and capture some of each. Pick your pleasure! I will recommend that if you try and go with a low rank, hundo (or near-hundo](https://pvpoke.com/battle/multi/1500/mountain/diggersby-42.5-10-15-15-4-4-1-1/11/0-3-2/2-1)) Diggs, Mud Shot/Quake seems to be your best bet, beating all the same stuff as higher rank Diggersby with the sometimes-exception of Lucario or Escavalier and their scary Counter damage. Play around in those sims with your own IVs and see what happens.
WHISCASH ♻️♻️
Mud Shot/Water Gun Mud Bomb & Blizzard
Not nearly as much moveset variance with good old Whiscash... you clearly want Mud Bomb and Blizzard, as always. There IS some potential intrigue with the fast move, though. Mud Shot is the standard and the one you will surely see the most, but there IS a case for Water Gun, which loses to Lucario but beats down Escavalier instead. Either way, the overall performance (and what you beat) is pretty similar to Diggs, but you do beat Diggersby head to head, and Froslass, at the cost of losing to things like Skarmory and Ferrothorn that hate Diggersby's Fire Punches.
MARSHTOMP ♻️
Mud Shot Mud Bomb & Returnᴸ/Surf
With no Swampert, your only other 10k Mud Boy option is Swampie's little bro Marshtomp. And on the surface, it's subpar, even with Return for closing power. But there is hidden value here, such as being able to take out Dewgong and Lapras that Diggs and Whiscash cannot... thanks to Return. On the flipside, it only beats Diggersby if it has Surf, and flops versus Skarmory, Runerigus, Froslass, Ferrothorn, Escavalier, and Quagsire no matter what moves you're using. Especially when compared with the others above, Marshie is kinda niche.
TORTERRA ♻️♻️
Razor Leaf Sand Tomb & Frenzy Plantᴸ/Stone Edge
And now for something completely different. In a meta with so many big name Grounds and/or Waters and/or Rocks, Grass is obviously a potent option. Just by typing, it resists Ground AND Rock damage coming back at it too, though at the cost of being double weak to Ice. In the end, that leaves it a very good role player, able to rip through all of the above Pokémon along with most of their fellow Waters and/or Grounds, and despite that fragility to Ice, it can even take down Walrein and Aurorus. Oh, and it beats prominent Cradily as well. The big downside is a complete lack of shield pressure, and that you basically need a Shadow version to get all that... non-Shadow struggles to beat Cradily and Aurorus. And even the one big plus that comes with non-Shadow -- taking down Ice Shard Lapras -- can be mostly matched by a Shadow with higher Attack. Recommend rolling with Shadow and not looking back.
EMPOLEON ♻️♻️
Waterfall Hydro Cannonᴸ & Drill Peck
Another way to smash through Grounds and Rocks and NOT be resisted by Steel is Water. Empoleon puts out plenty of Water damage, but the obvious downside is that its Steel subtyping makes it weak to Ground itself. In the end, as with Torterra, there's good and bad here, with Empie washing away Rocks and Ices left and right, and stuff like Skarmory, Cradily, and even Abomasnow (thanks to Drill Peck), but flopping against most Grounds, Bugs, and other Grass types. Empoleon has a role to play for sure, but it's not quite as potent as you'd probably like it to be.
WORMADAM (Trash) ♻️♻️♻️
Bug Bite Iron Head & Bug Buzz
It's Bug Bite you want in this meta, as it beats a slew of things Confusion and its sloooooow cooldown cannot, like Lapras, Aurorus, Ferrothorn, Quagsire, and Marshtomp. Perhaps even better is that you can build a lower rank Trashadam without needing any XL Candy and still get the same performance! A performance that includes the big Grasses, Ices, and Mud Boys. Not too shabby!
MAGCARGO ♻️♻️
Incinerate Rock Tomb & Overheat
You would be forgiven for thinking that Mags would be choked right out of this meta with the Mud Boys and so many Grounds and Rocks around in general. And indeed, Magcargo needs to avoid them like the plague, but it does plenty of good elsewhere, roasting numerous big name Steel, Ice, Grass, and/or Bug types, and Runerigus for good measure. Be ready with a quick hook if you can for the hard counter matchups, but on the right team, I think Magcargo could feast in this meta.
LUCARIO (Baby Discount™) ♻️♻️
Counter Power-Up Punch & Close Combat/Aura Sphere/Shadow Ball
Wrapping up this section with a GREAT one, as Lucario is ready to rumble in this meta. 🥊 Fighting is incredibly handy in Mountain Cup, beating up on Steel and Rock and Ice types and dealing at least neutral damage to nearly everything here...just a handful of Ghosts and a small group of Grounds with a Poison, Flying, Psychic, or Bug subtyping actually resist Fighting damage, and Luc still beats most of them anyway! The really scary thing is how much of that work comes with just Counter and Power-Up Punch 👀... other charge moves are really only needed for things like Froslass, Quagsire, and Gliscor. Shadow Ball or Aura Sphere work equally well, but the "best" may be Close Combat, which can also outrace Diggersby. Lucario has been big in several past formats (most recently this season's Fantasy Cup up in Ultra League), but this may actually be its best format yet. Get ready to see everybody who has a shiny one pulling it out to show off!

50,000 Dust/50 Candy

ESCAVALIER ♻️♻️
Counter Drill Run & Megahorn
Now that we've looked at the success Lucario can have, Escavalier's high success rate is probably not a huge surprise. In many ways, this is about the best meta it could ask for... Steels and Ices and Rocks to both resist AND pick on with Counter (and Drill Run, as needed), big Megahorn to take down Grasses and knock aside tanks like Whiscash, and hardly any Fire around to exploit the one and only weakness of Steely Bugs. (Really just Diggersby's Fire Punch, Mawile's Fire Fang, and maybe the occasional Magcargo or Hippowdon.) As with Lucario, this might be the best meta Escavalier has seen yet. Get ready to feast.
DONPHAN ♻️
Counter Body Slam & Play Rough/Heavy Slam/Earthquake
Not nearly as overpowering as Luc or Escav, but Donnie has Counter too, a unique mono Ground typing, and spammy Body Slam to keep a range of opponents on their toes. The problem is that its tying is pretty easily exploited, and it doesn't operate very well as a non-Shadow, needing a Shadow boost to hit key breakpoints against several opposing Pokémon in this meta. As a Shadow, in becomes more interesting, though not so much with Earthquake (which it just has trouble reaching in time)... it looks more promising with Heavy Slam (which adds on Dewgong, Lapras, Cradily, Ferrothorn, AND Gliscor) or, even better, Play Rough (which further adds on Quagsire and Registeel, despite the latter resisting it). This is admittedly much more a spice pick than the true meta pick that Luc and Escav represent, but it's a nice way to immediately make use of those Shadow Phanpys that arrive this coming weekend.
I'll also give a quick shout-out here to LYCANROC (Midnight), which for once doesn't have much use for Stone Edge, and instead wants to run Psychic Fangs and widely-unresisted Crunch, powered out by, of course, Counter. Crunch is not a straight upgrade, as Stone Edge is usually needed to punch out Gliscor and Alolan Ninetales, but Crunch uniquely beats Froslass, Ice Shard Lapras, Ferrothorn, and Galarian Stunfisk instead. Yeah... you can probably see why Crunch gets my vote.
PERRSERKER ♻️♻️
Shadow Claw Foul Play & Close Combat
No Counter here, but Close Combat dishes out Fighting damage when you need it, primarily against Ice types like Abomasnow, Dewgong, and Aurorus that require a well-timed CC to overcome, and Perrserker's mono Steel typing is handy for beating Ice and Grass types in general (with bonuses like Skarmory and Runerigus). If you only have them with hatch-level IVs, don't fret... higher Attack may actually be preferred here, winning not only the mirror but also Galarian Stunfisk and potentially Shadow Gliscor too!
RUNERIGUS ♻️♻️
Shadow Claw Sand Tomb & Shadow Ball
Another Shadow Claw user that may want higher Attack is Runie, which is fine with average IVs, but gains the mirror (obviously) and potentially Aurorus with an elevated Attack IV. Either way, you dominate the Counter users (Ghost double resists Fighting, remember) and manage to outduel several notable Steel and even opposing Ground types. I think Runerigus could definitely be a nice role player on the right team. Also worth pointing out that it gets really nasty in 2v2 shielding as Sand Tomb debuffs pile up.
FROSLASS ♻️♻️♻️
Powder Snow Avalanche & Shadow Ball
As per usual, Froslass looks average in sims, but the actual impact she has on the meta is likely to be much higher as players agonize about trying to guess when the Shadow Ball is coming with each shielding decision. That all said... this IS a meta filled with a number of things that resist Ice, so Froslass can have just as difficult a time trying to land Shadow Ball, as having an Avalanche or two go through unshielded at the wrong times can prove equally disastrous. Froslass users that enjoy such mind games: here's another chance.
WALREIN ♻️♻️♻️
Powder Snowᴸ Icicle Spearᴸ & Earthquake
With steady Ice damage to maim much of the meta and Earthquake for the otherwise scary Steels and Rocks, you almost feel like Walrein should do better than this. It is absolutely still a great performance (including Shadow Wally, you just might be left wanting a little bit more. Well, with high rank/high bulk IVs, you DO get more, with Ice Shard Lapras and sometimes Quagsire moving into the win column, so there's that.
DEWGONG ♻️♻️♻️
Ice Shardᴸ Icy Windᴸ & Blizzard
I'll keep saying it until I'm as blue in the face as I would be under an Icy Wind assault... run ]Blizzard, not Water Pulse. With Blizzard you can steal wins versus Ferrothorn and Quagsire and others that likely won't see it coming... including potentially even Galarian Stunfisk if Gong has a higher Attack stat! Dewgong is more consistent than Walrein in grinding down Grass types (Wally struggles mightily versus Cradily, Torterra, AND Ferrothorn) and Skarmory as well, not needing any particular IV or Shadow trickery to take them out. Don't forget about the OG WateIce bulkmeister! I actually lean slightly towards Dewgong over Walrein here, which I did NOT expect going in, but both have plenty of value (and Wally does have more at least theoretical "out"s in bad spots).
SEALEO ♻️♻️
Water Gun/Powder Snow Body Slam & Aurora Beam/Returnᴸ
Powder Snow plays similarly to the other Icy Waters above, with only Mawile and Galarian Stunfisk standing out as things it struggles with that at least one of Walrein or Dewgong can conquer. What could separate is a bit is running Water Gun, which carries the same record but gets there its own way, shedding Cradily and Torterra to instead beat Mawile and Empoleon and easily beat Froslass. If I were to run Sealeo, that's how I would do it. And don't forget the potential of Return on your purified Sealeos as a big fat neutral beatstick... again, something the other Watery Ices above lack.
ALOLAN SANDSLASH ♻️♻️
Shadow Clawᴸ Ice Punch & Bulldoze
Double resists Ice, resists Grass, deals widespread neutral damage with Shadow Claw, spammy Ice damage with Ice Punch, and has Bulldoze for the Steels? What's not to like? Weeeeeell... there's also a weakness to Ground just like other Steel types, no real way to threaten Water tyoes, and critical double weaknesses to Fire and Fighting damage that will likely be on the majority of teams. So in the end, A-Slash will surely make an impact, but where it loses, it can lose alarmingly quickly. High risk, high reward.
ALOLAN NINETALES ♻️♻️♻️
Powder Snow Weather Ball (Ice) & Dazzling Gleam/Ice Beam
I slightly lean towards ShadowTales here, as it can overpower Cradily, Runerigus, and Skarmory with just its Ice moves, unlike non-Shadow (which instead can outlast Froslass). But if you DO run non-Shadow, I recommend looking at the unconventional Ice Beam rather than Dazzling Gleam. Yes, it leaves you without coverage, but really the only coverage you'll usually need is versus Steels, and they resist Gleam anyway. At least Ice Beam gives you the closing power to finish off Cradily, Runie, and Skarm too, and non-Shadow can also outlast Quagsire while Shadow cannot. I do NOT really recommend CharmTales here.
PILOSWINE ♻️♻️
Powder Snow Avalanche & Stone Edge/High Horsepower
Piloswine still has problems that hold it back, namely being an Ice type that doesn't resist Ice and takes super effective from Water and Grass, and a Ground that gets burned by Fighting damage and, well, Fire as well. But its moves keep it relevant, with either Stone Edge for opposing Ice types (beating A-Ninetales, for example) or High Horsepower for opposing Steels and even some Grounds (beating Quagsire this way, as well as solidifying an otherwise very shaky win over Galarian Stunfisk).
NIDOKING ♻️
Double Kick Sand Tomb & Earth Power
Now HERE is a spicy pick. Nope, not Nidoqueen, which really struggles here. But Nidoking finally has a spot to make use of its funky moveset. Earth Power is still key, but instead of oft-resisted Poison Fang that Queen has, Nidoking uses oft-effective Sand Tomb to set things up. The real key, though, is Double Kick, which is of course a coveted-in-this-meta Fighting move. Add it all together, and there's some real potential here, particularly with Shadow King that can further add on Quagsire, Diggersby, and even Dewgong!
QUAGSIRE ♻️♻️
Mud Shot Stone Edge & Earthquake
Lord Quag is always the forgotten Mud Boy, and if I'm being honest, in this meta, it does trail the others. But what it has that the others lack is a true anti-Ice weapon with Stone Edge that can punch out things like Dewgong, Walrein, and Froslass without a moment's notice. And it does get more interesting with high rank IVs, adding Diggersby, Escavalier, and a surer win over Walrein.
GASTRODON ♻️♻️
Mud Slap Body Slam & Earth Power
Unique among the Mud Boys thanks to heavy fast move pressure with Mud Slap, literally slapping Steels aside left and right, as well as Aurorus, Lapras, and the other Mud Boys! With some extra Attack, it can do all that AND overcome Escavalier as well! Don't sleep on the slug, folks.
ABOMASNOW ♻️♻️♻️
Powder Snow/Razor Leaf Weather Ball (Ice) & Energy Ball
So first off, this does have the look of a meta that favors Shadowbama over non-Shadow, with Shadow able to overpower things non-Shadow cannot like Cradily, Skarmory, Lapras, and Walrein. There's also Razor Leaf to consider, which you may remember was very effective in Weather Cup and works similarly here, shredding Waters (Lapras, Walrein, Dewgong, even Empoleon) like nobody's business, and even Alolan Ninetales.
CRADILY ♻️♻️
Bullet Seed Stone Edge & Grass Knot
And speaking of Weather Cup, the terror of that format works here too, still shredding Waters (and now Grounds and Rocks) with its Grass damage and smashing Ice types with Stone Edge. Consider one with extra Attack, which does abandon a close win over Abomasnow, but gains Galarian Stunfisk (and the mirror match). You know I gotta say it... dilly dilly!

75,000 Dust/75 Candy

FERROTHORN ♻️♻️
Bullet Seed Power Whip & Mirror Shot/Flash Cannon
The utility of its Grass side should be obvious by now, though Ferrothorn has the extra advantage of making Ice coming back its way deal only neutral damage, a huge plus in this meta that makes things like Dewgong, Walrein, and Lapras much more surefire than other Grass types. And conveniently, Ferrothorn also double resists Grass damage and thus it beats down those other Grasses as well. These are both helped by utilizing one of Ferro's Steel charge moves, either Mirror Shot to pick away and bait shields, or Flash Cannon for big booms instead. (Mirror is better in 2v2 shielding, while Flash is superior with shields down, both for rather obvious reasons.) You do have the common Steel problems of Fighting and especially Fire damage to avoid, and Ferro has no real answers for enemy Steel types, but there are several teams that have a Ferrothorn shaped hole on them. It's really good in Mountain Cup.
FORRETRESS ♻️♻️
Bug Bite Mirror Shot & Earthquake
Bigger, fatter, spinnier Trashadam, basically. The biggest difference is that Trashy's closer is Bug type, whereas Forret rolls with Earthquake, with which it can bury Galarian Stunfisk and Perrserker that Trashadam cannot. Otherwise they play very similarly, honestly, with the caveat that Trashy brings a little more pressure to Ice types with Iron Head than Forret does with underpowered Mirror Shot (shown most clearly by Trashadam beating Dewgong while Forret typically falters). As with most Shadows I have not specifically mentioned above, Shadow is less recommended here.
SKARMORY ♻️♻️♻️
Air Slash/Steel Wing Sky Attack & Brave Bird
This is another of those metas where Steel Wing may shine, with nice wins over Aurorus and Diggersby and, as anyone who played Flying Cup knows (shudder), the mirror match. But yes, Air Slash will likely be more standard, with its own wins over Lapras, Gliscor, and Marshtomp. Either way, I like how Skarm looks more than I expected to in this Ice and Steel and Rock filled meta. I give it a thumbs up, and I did NOT expect to be doing that going in!
MAWILE ♻️♻️
Fire Fang Power-Up Punch & Iron Head
With so many flammable things in this meta, it's back to old-school Fire Fang Mawile instead of the now-more-common Fairy Wind. You burn through all the Grasses and most big-name Steels and Ices that way, even stuff like Lapras, Empoleon, and Aurorus that take only neutral from Fire, and scary Counter users as well. Shadow Mawile works fine too, though it usually misses out on Registeel, taking down Dewgong instead. In addition to the mandatory Power-Up Punch, Iron Head is important for helping ensure wins over things like Cradily and Lapras.
GALARIAN STUNFISK ♻️♻️♻️
Mud Shot Rock Slide & Earthquake
Yes, it's here, it's good, get used to it. We're all suffering together. It does flop versus the Mud Boys (and Diggersby) and most of the Grasses, and wants nothing to do with the Counter users unless it's ahead on energy or shields. But uh... yeah. We're gonna have to just hunker down and endure it this week. I'm no happier about it than you are!
GLISCOR ♻️♻️
Wing Attack Night Slash & Earthquake
Not a lot of Flyers in this meta, and the rest are Steel, Rock, or Ice types, meaning that Gliscor (and Gligar) is the only one that actually resists Fighting damage... and yet it STILL loses to Lucario! Bah. It still does more than enough else to be viable, perhaps Shadow Gliscor in particular with its extra win over Whiscash, and its performance is perhaps even better than the numbers, as nearly all of its losses are to Ice types which deal double super effective damage. For now, I'll call it a wild card with a good deal of upside, for those who want to try to make it work. It can wreck an Ice-free team, for sure.
GLIGAR itself comes less recommended, being stuck with the subpar Dig rather than Gliscor's far better Earthquake.
LAPRAS ♻️♻️♻️
Water Gun/Ice Shardᴸ Surf & Ice Beamᴸ/Skull Bash
Maybe you saw this coming with my other odd moveset recommendations above, but yeah, I am NOT recommending Ice Shard here, even though Lapras takes down Gliscor and Torterra that way. Instead, I firmly believe Water Gun is the way to go here. With that, you add on wins versus G-Fisk, Registeel, Mawile, Cradily, Aurorus, Empoleon, and the mirror match. As with Sealeo, Water Gun really separates Lapras from the Walrein/Dewgong crowd and makes it an extremely potent threat in this meta. Just don't go with Shadow Lapras... you want to hold onto that bulk!
AURORUS ♻️♻️
Powder Snow Weather Ball (Ice) & Meteor Beam
Particularly with high rank IVs (with which you gain Abomasnow), Aurorus is a risky but deadly option. It's an Ice that is kind of awkward versus Grounds that a good Ice should dominate, and similarly has to tiptoe a bit around Grass types too, and it's even more vulnerable than most other Ices when faced with Fighting or Water damage. But it pretty well dominates other Ice types, and beats up more than enough things to be recognized as part of Mountain Cup's "core meta" Pokémon.

2023.03.22 20:11 JRE47 Nifty Or Thrifty: Mountain Cup

2023.03.22 18:26 tvchase THE GREATEST TRICK THE DEVIL EVER PULLED - Part Four

"Fragile Ego, Fragile Body, Weak Mind, Weak Spirit"
In Part One, Part Two, and Part Three, we've built a timeline and tracked the story of an old man who came back to professional wrestling. Disgruntled and broken, he had abandoned the business to which he’d given himself for fifteen years. They were a tumultuous fifteen years, but within that time he reached the height of the industry. He held the attention of every single person who was a wrestling fan and even many of whom weren’t fans at all. To get to such heights, he plumbed the depths of cruelty and villainy in character, going places many of his peers wouldn’t dare touch. He attacked the sobriety of recovering alcoholics and substance abusers. He preyed upon the anxiety and insecurity of those with mental health issues. He lied, he gas-lit, and he betrayed on the way to the top. Even for someone as vile as himself, however, it simultaneously became all too much and not enough. At the mountaintop, sick of himself and everything around him, he walked away.
“I was never gonna get healthy physically, mentally, spiritually or emotionally, staying in the same place that got me sick in the first place.”
Who could fault him? But then he came back seven years later to, as some have called it, “Wrestling Paradise”. In that Paradise, as he turned uphill, he crossed the path of a Snake slithering deceitfully among the weeds. The Snake bit him and at first, it seemed only a surface wound that would easily heal in time. That Snake’s venom, however, was slow-acting and allowed the bite to be all but forgotten as the Snake slithered out of sight and out of mind. Then one day, he’s finally back upon that mountain top, having gone a different route than before – a longer and more winding route, but seemingly nobler and more sustainable. Many of our faithful heroes weren’t buying it. They knew him before and have studied his ways, knowing he could quickly revert back to the evil and destruction he was for so long. He brushes away their suspicion to assure both us and himself: he’s a new man. He feels at peace with himself and he is bathing in the adulation of his friends, his fans, and his peers… until suddenly on that mountain top, the Snake leaps out and reminds him of the venom coursing through his veins.
September 4, 2022 – MJF returns to All Elite Wrestling and steals Punk's ovation in Chicago.
The final words of the PPV broadcast:
What does this mean for AEW?
Shortly before midnight, a live stream goes up on YouTube for the post-event media scrum.
The stream has a longer delay than usual before the presser begins. Bloodied, battered, sweat-soaked hair in his eyes, draped in a towel… CM Punk looks like pure hell as he sits down to take – and to ask – questions from a group of wrestling reporters.
The mic goes to Nick Hausman first:
“Hi! Nick Hausman here from Wrestling Inc–”
Punk cuts him off:
“--I’ll start, Nick. Show of hands. Who here fancies themselves a journalist? You a journalist Nick?”
Nick:
“... I try my best.”
Punk:
“You still do improv?”
Nick:
“Not for a little bit..”
Punk:
“When you did improv, who’d you do improv with?”
Nick curiously uses a shoot name:
“I did it with Scott Colton.”
Punk:
“Okay, so you fancy yourself a journalist. Would you say you’re friends with Scott Colton?”
Nick:
“Uh… no. I haven’t talked to Scott in some time.”
Punk:
“So you’re not friends with him?”
Nick:
“No… Scott and I do not see eye to eye.”
Punk, to the whole room:
“Oh wow… Well that makes two of us. My point is, if you fancy yourself a journalist, even if it’s for the silly world of professional wrestling, and you have journalistic integrity… people who report things, mostly that are bullshit and slanderous lies against myself… you should probably disclose who you’re friends with.”
Punk, directly to Hausman, somewhat quietly:
“You blew my spot… If you’re not friends with him, I apologize.”
Nick:
“I’m not friends with him…”
Punk, ignoring him, continues on:
“I haven’t had anything to do with Scott Colton for almost a decade. Probably wanted nothing to do with him even longer than that. It’s fucking unfortunate that I have to come up here and speak on this when I’m on my time and this is a fucking business. Why I’m a grown-ass adult man and I decide not to be friends with somebody is nobody else’s fucking business. But my friends, if I fall backwards, will catch me. Scott Colton, I felt, never would have.
My problem was I wanted to bring a guy with me to the top that did not want to see me at the top, okay? You can call it jealousy, you can call it envy, whatever the fuck it is. My relationship with Scott Colton ended long before I paid all of his bills. I have every receipt. I have every invoice. I have every email. I have an email where he says ‘I agree to go our separate ways, I will get my own lawyer and you do not have to pay anymore.’
That’s an email that I have and the only reason the public did not see it is because when I finally had to counter-sue him, through discovery we discovered he shared a bank account with his mother. That’s a fact. As soon as we discovered that fact and we subpoenaed old Marsha, he sent the email ‘Oh, can we please drop all this?’ Now, it’s 2022. I haven’t been friends with this guy since at least 2014, late-2013.
CM Punk and Colt Cabana weren’t even faced with the famously divisive legal bills until 2015 when WWE’s doctor filed a defamation lawsuit against them. Colt didn’t file suit against Punk over legal fees until 2018. The timeline here is very fuzzy and totally unreliable. The line about Colt's mother sticks out like a sore thumb, but if you've read previous installments, wrestlers' relationships with their mothers have been referenced before and most notably in recent promos.
Punk continues:
The fact that I have to sit up here because we have irresponsible people who call themselves EVPs and couldn’t fucking manage a Target and they spread lies and bullshit and put into the media that I got somebody fired when I have fuck all to do with him, want nothing to do with him, do not care where he works, where he doesn’t work, where he eats, where he sleeps… the fact that I have to get up and do this in 2022 is fucking embarrassing. If y’all are at fault, fuck you. If not, I apologize. What did I ever do in this world to deserve an empty-headed fucking dumbfuck like ‘Hangman’ Adam Page to go out on national television and fucking go into business for himself? For what? What did I ever do? Dave [Meltzer]?… I didn’t do a goddamn thing.
At this point, Punk calls on a guy in the front row and asks his name. The guy is wearing a Pittsburgh Penguins shirt.
Punk:
“Fuck the Pittsburgh Penguins.”
Tony Khan interjects, referring to an article where he had briefly discussed the rumors about Colt Cabana’s “sidelining” in weeks prior:
“I made it very clear in Forbes and I just wanna make it clear again–”
Punk cuts off Tony Khan, the company owner, his boss:
“It’s not his position to make it very fucking clear! There’s people who call themselves EVPs that should have fuckking known better. This shit was none of their business. I understand sticking up for your fucking friends, I fucking get it. I stuck up for that guy more than anybody. Okay? I paid his bills until I didn’t and it was my decision not to.”
TK:
“Yeah but I shouldn’t have no-commented when Nick first said it, it’s my fault, I should’ve taken it head-on”
Punk:
“I appreciate that, but I’m trying to run a fucking business. And when somebody who hasn’t done a damn thing in this business [Hangman Page] jeopardizes the first million dollar house that this company has ever drawn off of my back and goes on national television and does that, it’s a disgrace to this industry, it’s a disgrace to this company. Now we’re far beyond apologies. I gave him a fucking chance, it did not get handled, and you saw what I had to do, which is very regrettable, lowering myself to his fucking level. But that’s where we’re at right now. And I will still walk up and down this hallway and say ‘If you have a fucking problem with me, take it up with me. Let’s fucking go’.”
Nick Hausman finally gets to ask his question to Punk, and it’s regarding the return of MJF.
Tony Khan is the one who answers:
“If I may… I am the one who asked him back because MJF’s a big star in this company and this is one of the biggest events. A year ago, CM Punk debuted here and I thought it was right for the fans. I felt that, for the fans, one of the best things we could do is bring MJF back.”
After rolling his eyes and stuffing a muffin in his mouth, Punk jumps in:
“It’s because he wants me to work with pricks. Constantly.”
TK brushes it off:
“...Nevertherless… Two of the top wrestlers in the world. It’s a big match down the line.”
At this point, Tony Khan looks like he’s about to vomit.
Punk:
“Oh, sorry, I keep fucking bringing this up… When it came down he was going to sue, I asked to talk to him. He denied… When I offered him money, it wasn’t enough [Punk is banging on the table for emphasis]. He went ahead with the lawsuit and sued. It’s his fucking funeral. He shares a bank account with his mother, that tells you all you need to know about what his character is.
Nick Hausman:
“Well… You were always very nice to me.”
Punk:
“I appreciate that. I’m sorry I’m a little bit snippy. I’m hurt, I’m old, I’m fucking tired and I work with fucking children.”
TK:
“I regret not answering your question the first time you asked it…”
Punk:
“We’re all learning here, Tony. It’s okay.”
Punk goes on to plug Mindy’s Bakery in Chicago, the supplier of his muffins.
The scrum moves onto its next question, this time for Tony.
“You saw the reaction to MJF when he came out at the end of the night. He was cheered over Punk… the hometown guy… Do you have any worries about MJF… becoming this sort of anti-authority figure?”
Tony Khan gives some boilerplate word salad about how it’s great to have two compelling and charismatic figures, while Punk makes snarky faces and continues chomping on his muffins.
Punk doesn’t want to talk about MJF. He goes back into his rant:
“I’ll tell you why I’m upset about it. If you’re an EVP, you don’t try to middle your top babyface, try to get your niche audience on the internet to hate him for some made-up, bullshit rumor. Really pisses me off. Stepping on your own dick… Trying to make money, sell tickets, fill arenas, and these stupid guys think they’re in Reseda.”
Next question regards how “modern talent can take advice from some of the older guys” to “help grow as a company”. Tony lets Punk give the answer.
“We have a locker room full of pretty brilliant minds… When I came back, when I cut my promo my second week here, I thought it was pretty decent. I kinda blur the lines a little bit, ya know, ‘What’s he doing? Crazy Phil, going into business for himself’, when really I was just defending myself. Mix that in with attacking Moxley, calling Kingston the second best Kingston – which is a pretty great line – but our locker room for all the brilliance and wisdom it has, isn’t worth shit when you have an empty-headed dumbfuck, who hasn’t done anything in this business, do public interviews and say ‘I don’t really take advice.’ Who the fuck do you think you are? I’m on a team with Barry Bonds, Mark McGuire, and Sammy Sosa, and I don’t need to work on my swing? … Fucking go fuck yourself… Grow up.
Bonds, McGuire, and Sosa are most famous for hitting insane amounts of home runs in the late 1990s and early 2000s, breaking numerous historic records, rejuvenating interest in MLB, and most notably, using banned PEDs which would ultimately ostracize them from the baseball community and block them from enshrinement in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
A question comes up for Punk from an old friend in the press pool: What’s his message for MJF?
The notion of having to speak directly to MJF seems to sap all of the energy from Punk. All of the piss and vinegar leaves him. He’s quiet now and reserved now… almost sheepish. It’s like he’s speaking to the mirror once again.
Punk:
“Do I have to answer this… I guess… I don’t know. I’m tired of wrestling these pricks. I’m tired of wrestling with these kids who think they know everything… But I’m not the boss… He won number one contender. I guess I’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Max is supremely talented, but this goes for him and every other individual in the locker room that doesn’t wanna be here. The grass is not greener on the other side. The grass is greener where you water it. Max likes to shit where he eats instead of watering the grass. So we’ll have to see how that goes.”
Next question:
“A year ago we were in this room. It was after Adam Cole, after Brian Danielson… You said it had the feeling of ‘Bash at the Beach’ [1996]...
Punk, sarcastically:
“Oh boy… Did I say that?...”
Reporter continues:
“A year later… What's your honest assessment of the last year, personally and professionally?”
Punk:
“Look, I know it sounds like a pretty ridiculous statement, but in five years, I think you’ll see the impact of it. There’s a chance I’m wrong. We’ve got an uphill battle in a lot of respects… There’s just so much drama and turmoil going on. I like to believe in the place I work. We do have a very, very strong roster and we have a lot of brilliant minds backstage. If young talent is willing to actually listen and receive advice… There’s always gonna be people who think they should be the top guy and wanna be pushed. I get that. That was me… I always wanted more.”
Meltzer asks about Punk’s foot injury from a few months before. You’ll remember, he wanted to soak in the adulation of the crowd the next show after Double or Nothing where he won the belt, and he got hurt doing a reckless stage dive.
“...This is the worst injury I’ve ever had… This was really hard for me. I really wanted to have this great Summer and do good for Tony. I wanted to sell tickets and draw money, help with ratings. And it all came crashing down… I missed Forbidden Door in the United Center… I have pride in my work and I really wanted to carry the title through the summer and just help grow the business, so it was mentally devastating.”
The final question concerns the significance of the victory over Jon Moxley. Both the reporter and Tony Khan make note of the fact that it is Moxley’s first clean pin defeat in three years.
Punk:
“Oh man. Well I guess people are REALLY mad at me then, huh?... We came from the same place. Felt a lot of the same things… Guys could’ve helped us out a little bit more, passed the torch… I’m here to elevate everybody. And I’m not saying I elevated Moxley, but maybe I did. Because I think that’s what all of our jobs are: to reach back and get everybody to that level. We have different philosophies about pro wrestling, but it’s all pro wrestling. When done right, it’s magic.
The scrum session for Punk officially comes to an end, but Punk pauses things and calls out Bryan Alvarez:
“Alvarez… I saw that video man. You were so incredulous that I went into business for myself.”
Alvarez explains how he said he only pointed out some were pro-Punk and some were anti-Punk about the whole thing [his worked shoot challenge to Hangman].
Punk dives deeper:
“...I’ve eaten shit on this subject for a very, very long time. I am very sad today that I had to get up here and say his name. He doesn’t fucking deserve it. But facts are facts. Name two people that have made the most money off CM Punk. [He looks at Tony Khan] I don’t think you’re there yet. The first one is Vince McMahan. The second one is Scott Colton. I hope you all have a good night. Please be more responsible with the news you get from certain people and just remember, we’re human beings.”
Punk packs up his muffins and his drinks, gives his dog Larry a shout out, and runs down the Pittsburgh Penguins. He gives Tony Khan one of his sodas.
“Contrary to popular belief, I am a very nice guy.”
Punk walks off the podium after nearly 25 minutes.
The rest of the scrum is often overlooked, but on closer examination, it’s no less interesting, and seems to be developing a common theme.
Next up come the reigning tag team champions, Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee. Midway through their match against The Acclaimed, the audience in Chicago was nuclear hot for the challengers. Sensing this, Swerve In Our Glory began working heel en route to a successful defense of their titles.
One of the first questions concerns “problems” between the pair that have flared up in recent weeks, with the two not always on the same page and Swerve eliminating Lee in a battle royal.
Swerve:
We didn’t really have problems. We had a dip in the road and we fixed that. You know what fixes everything? Winning. I can get violent and ravenous in that ring when I have to… If I have to push the envelope and bring Keith Lee to that level to defend these titles… So many people were against us having them in the first place… I’m always like that. Super King Petty. I read all of y’all. I read everybody in here. I literally listen to all your podcasts. First thing y’all said when we won the titles… No congratulations, nothing about Keith Lee almost losing his life fighting COVID, nothing about where I come from and both of us being let go… When we finally climbed the mountaintop, there was so much ridicule and bullshit against us about how we don’t deserve this. [You said] these opportunities should have gone… everywhere else… I’m not gonna apologize. I’m gonna gloat.”
The next reporter asks Tony Khan if he gave consideration to calling an audible on the match due to how over The Acclaimed were, changing the finish on the fly. He’s skittish to answer, so the question is rerouted to the talent.
Swerve, on how people felt The Acclaimed should’ve won:
“I couldn’t care less.”
Tony starts putting over how great of a match they just had, then puts over how great The Acclaimed are. He begins hinting that it makes sense to possibly have a rematch at Grand Slam in just over two weeks.
Swerve is beside himself:
“Wow. Why? Why??... How much more we gotta keep proving??”
Keith Lee starts trying to rationalize how it makes sense but Swerve is pissed.
Tony Khan:
“People are asking... Look, I think it would be one of the best thing we could do at Grand Slam–”
Swerve cuts off Tony, even putting a hand on his shoulder to stop him, and Tony gives him a hell of a look.
“Tony… Tony… This is just another tag team they all want the belts on instead of us!”
Keith Lee:
“I find it interesting in our losses, we had to go down the ladder, but you wanna do this rematch… But I’m not gonna speak to that.”
TK:
“I’ll take some time to think about it, but I just think it’d be a great match for the fans.”
Swerve:
“...It is what it is, but miss me with it altogether… listen man. That’s what you wanna do… I mean, you pay the bills man so you do what you gotta do… But don’t be surprised if somebody gets hurt. Are we done? Are we done?”
Keith Lee, nervously laughing:
“I’m not a part of that statement.”
This portion of the scrum ends abruptly.
Next up is Toni Storm, who has secured the AEW Interim Women’s world championship. Brief chatter about how the women in the locker room all feel devoted to helping each other and elevating each other as a whole, before a reporter asks:
“We’re in a situation now where we just saw Jon Moxley come off a run where he was an interim world champion, and he made his thoughts very clear about how he felt about the word ‘Interim’. How do you feel about that?”
Toni Storm:
“Yeah. It’s not ideal. Thunder Rosa says she’s injured… Okay. So when she says she’s not injured, she can come back and lose to me, and that’ll be the end of that.”
Tony Khan, laughing nervously:
“Well, that’s a… That’s a statement…”
A few questions allow the new champ to put over the depth of the locker room and how AEW has been very good to her after her career was in limbo. Then it circles back around to Thunder Rosa:
“We had formed kind of a friendship… But I want her to know that I’m not just going to sit in her corner and cheer for her and be her little friendI didn’t come here to make friends. I’ll be cool. I’ll be civil. But when she comes back, I’m gonna whip her ass.”
Toni Storm’s portion wraps up.
At this point, the new trios champions – Kenny Omega, Nick Jackson, and Matt Jackson – should be arriving at the podium. Someone to the side alerts Tony Khan that it will be Chris Jericho coming up next instead. Tony looks surprised. He starts reading and responding to messages on his phone. A reporter randomly asks Tony about the contract tampering allegations, but he declines to comment on it. He stalls for about five minutes before Jericho gets to the podium.
After commenting on what a pleasure it was to finally wrestle against Brian Danielson and call a match on the fly (“there’s very few people in the world you can do that with”), Jericho takes a question from Nick Hausman:
“I asked Tony about this earlier this week… There was a mandatory backstage talent meeting that Tony confirmed happened. Reportedly you spoke at that meeting, Chris. Wondering if you could tell us what you said to the roster and what kind of advice you’re giving to talent… and to management… right now at this point in AEW?”
Jericho:
“The specifics don’t need to be discussed… and that was one of the things that was addressed: don’t leak shit that’s supposed to be private among us. My message is always to remind people how special AEW is and don’t take that for granted… I always want to remind guys, please don’t ruin or potentially ruin this amazing world that we’ve created.”
TK:
“We don’t want guys going into business for themselves… or girls…”
Jericho:
“We don’t. Where I came from, working for twenty years, with Vince… That would never happen [Note: it happened all the time…] and I’m trying to let people know we’re getting to the point where these things are unacceptable. We will start doing things that Tony would do in the NFL or at Fulham. We are a pro sports, multi-million dollar company with a huge contract, with another huge television contract coming up soon. A lot of guys don’t have that experience and don’t realize how special this is. So that’s what I try to do whenever I have them, and Tony has them… Now it’s just a little more frequent, just to remind everyone: stay on course… both guys and girls.”
Meltzer asks Jericho about having to constantly reinvent himself. Jericho says he’s not big on nostalgia, but tapping into the past and bringing up history always helps tell a compelling story:
“... We’re building a whole story around it. It fits in with the whole Heel-Jericho delusion: ‘I’ve found the fountain of youth! I’m better than ever! I’m the best wrestler in the world!’ I can say that stuff as a heel. It’s so funny: when I lose a match, it’s a great match. When I win? ‘Oh, 51-year-old Jericho is burying the young guys!’ So I can kinda use that. That intrigues me… That little kernel of truth, that I always like as a heel, that I can over blow to the point where people are like, ‘Shut the fuck up already, man!’... So let’s use that to our advantage, hide behind it…”
Tony Khan then recounts a story about how he had first seen Chris Jericho in person at an ECW show in 1996 in Chicago, the same show from which a photo was shown on Dynamite the week earlier when Jericho was the young Lionheart. He recounts how when Jericho left ECW, they chanted “You Sold Out!” He also mentions a sign he had at the ECW event that night: “Shane [Douglas] ♥️’s Shawn [Michaels]”, alluding to the famous grudge between those two men.
The story between Douglas and Michaels is notorious and quite relevant here.
“The Franchise” had originally been in WWE in 1990, where he made a name for himself filling in for the injured Michaels as Marty Janetty’s tag partner in The Rockers. Caring for his ailing father, Douglas stepped away from wrestling full-time but intermittently appeared for WCW, then ECW, where he finally became a top guy. When he returned to WWE in 1995, HBK and the rest of the Kliq had assumed nearly full control of backstage politics and were tyrannical in the locker room. Michaels invited Shane Douglas into the fold. Considering them childish, he declined. The rest of his tenure in WWE would be smothered after rejecting Michaels and The Kliq. HBK vowed never to do the job against him, and even faked an injury to avoid dropping the Intercontinental title to him. Douglas left the company the following year after Vince was infuriated that Douglas would not wrestle at Madison Square Garden, despite a doctor explicitly telling him that if he worked through his back injury it would risk paralysis.
The scrum moves on, and eventually Denise Salcedo asks Jericho about MJF’s return.
Jericho:
“I said to him, ‘When you come back, you’re going to be a babyface…’ and he said, ‘I don’t wanna be a babyface, I don’t know what I’m gonna do.' ...It’s easier to make people hate you than it is to make them like you. But once they start really hating you, that’s when they start really liking you. He’s almost at that point. That’s my prediction: he’s gonna be one of our top babyfaces, whether or not he wants to be, very, very soon… A game changer.
At this point, the Jericho portion wraps up, and as he stands to leave he says something to Tony Khan, in a whisper, but very much able to be picked up on a live mic. What he said was either, “We gotta talk after” or “We called the cops”, but follow-ups to the local police department revealed no call was made so it is very likely the former. What’s indisputable is that he said “Some shit happened” directly in front of the cameras and the microphones. TK says to Jericho, “I’ll meet you in my office afterwards.” There is zero sense of urgency around anything as Jericho leaves thanking the press pool and Tony sits down to field his final questions.
A few “no comments” are issued to questions regarding WWE's alleged contract tampering as well as a proposed super-show with WWE. Tony Khan says he has good feelings toward WWE but they’re not exactly reciprocated, and from there he doesn’t comment any further.
A reporter asks:
“Leading up to All Out, there were unfortunately some reports that the AEW locker room and talent were facing some adversity… In comparison to a sports team, a big win usually pushes them over that threshold of challenges they were facing. With the overall success of tonight, do you think that will help the locker room overcome those roadblocks?”
Instead of taking this softball as it was pitched, TK leans into the premise:
“I think there’s still a lot of wrestlers in professional wrestling who don’t get along… now more than ever, those things are apparent. But I also think that the industry has thrived on creative tension for a long time. Yeah, you might say, what if it doesn’t manifest in a match right away? In the late 90s and early 2000s, which was the business, the interest, and the general peak of pro wrestling in many ways… There was certainly a big group of pro wrestlers who didn’t like each other. A lot of times they weren’t even in the same companies and they would rip each other, and it wasn’t gonna produce a match… But that is what we produce, is wrestling matches…
There’s a lot of matches between people who don’t get along and it’s not always an easy road to get people in the ring. But when you can get people in the ring to settle their differences, it’s really exciting. And there’s a lot of people… some people even here have gone out and blatantly slammed me in public. I have a pretty calm demeanor… I’m willing to put up with a lot of abuse… but there’s only so much knocking me and slamming me I can put up with. On the other hand, I will do what’s right for business when I have to…”
Brandon Thurston asks him about the business aspect of the weekend, and Tony admits it was challenging with a lot of direct competition, some of it seemingly targeted directly to hit the AEW bottom line. Then, Tony’s general tone shifts he legit cuts a promo:
“I have to face the competition out there. When I compare myself to Jim Crockett promotions… This weekend, I think, I got a taste of the same medicine Jim Crockett promotions took. But I have a lot more fucking money than Jim Crockett did. I’m not gonna sit back and take this fucking shit.
Probably the most uncharacteristic thing I have ever heard Tony Khan say.
The next question centers on the start of the scrum:
“You see without a doubt your biggest star, your biggest mainstream attraction… He goes off the rails a bit toward your EVPs and another of your big young stars. You, as the leader of the ship, how do you diffuse the situation?”
Tony Khan:
“That is a dicey situation. It is contentious and frankly challenging. But, I have to do what’s best for the sake of the company. Everybody you’re talking about are great wrestlers with big reputations… Some of them have been around from the beginning of the company. Some have been around for about a year now… The fact is, these are people that drive revenue, and they help create jobs for everyone. I’m not gonna comment on what you heard here tonight, but like I said earlier this week… It’s no secret that a lot of professional wrestlers don’t like each other. Now it’s probably more out in the open than it’s been in a while. But I don’t think that’s a bad thing for the pro wrestling business given the product that we produce: matches.
The next reporter asks about the ongoing role of The Elite within the company and Tony puts them over as invaluable assets in putting together and organizing the shows, as well as mentoring younger talent and helping to grow revenue streams.
Before Tony wraps up the scrum, he singles out a young man in the press pool to ask a question. The young man asks about CM Punk’s dog, Larry, who had ran out in front of the crowd earlier.
“... Well… Larry is a live wire… he got a taste of the live crowd… I thought he had a good time. When he arrived, he seemed like he was in good spirits.”
Tony then leaves the podium.
In the coming hours, news would steadily emerge from backstage. As the story goes, the EVPs of All Elite Wrestling went to CM Punk’s locker room accompanied by Megha Parekh, AEW’s Chief Legal Officer and Director of Human Resources, along with Christopher Daniels, Fallen Angel and Manager of Talent Relations.
While in the locker room, CM Punk punched Matt Jackson, a chair hit Nick Jackson in the eye, and Ace Steel bit Kenny Omega on the arm. Larry the Dog was in peril also, later seen being carried by Megha away from the area. Brandon Cutler, Pat Buck, and Michael Nakazawa were all present. At some point Chris Jericho made his way to Punk to tell him he was a cancer to the locker room and detrimental to the company as a whole, only to be told in turn that it was none of Jericho’s business and he should leave. Aside from Megha, all parties present (aside from Jericho who arrived late) were immediately placed on paid administrative leave, pending investigation.
News dropped quickly that Punk would be out for six-to-eight months regardless of anything else due to his torn triceps suffered that night in the main event.
Aside from the injury, none of this has been 100% confirmed. None of these details exist on any official record. All accounts are, at best, third-hand information. The facts of the story changed wildly from the first 48 hours to the first two weeks, with absurd initial claims such as the Young Bucks (super)kicking down the door to Punk’s locker and Larry losing teeth in the maelstrom. To this day, no one other than those present know with any degree of certainty what happened inside that room.
But what happened outside that room was a remarkable shattering of perception about CM Punk, the Elite, but most importantly, AEW itself. In the immediate aftermath, massive fans such as myself couldn’t help but feel as if something was taken away from us. In the months since, so much has been made of getting AEW back to the old days, regaining that old feeling that made us fall in love at the beginning. We want to go back to what Jericho called the “amazing world” created by everyone at AEW, but none more so than by the Elite.
How could CM Punk so grossly and directly attack the founders and shapers of this company which, up to then, was widely hailed as the only place a wrestler would want to be? I thought back to the very last thing said to AEW cameras by Cody Rhodes, a founder whose absence loomed large that night in Chicago. A lot of people don’t realize his final words in AEW weren’t those uttered by a ladder, inside a ring where he famously claimed credit for construction of the Forbidden Door. No, it was in the bowels of the arena after his unification match with Sammy Guevara, over eight months before All Out… There, he talked about how proud he was of everything he had helped to build. Fighting back tears, he talked about how he would never feel more at home than he does in an AEW ring. “It’s Paradise, right?”
… Paradise.
Paradise… Paradise… Paradise Lost… The Fall of Man… Snake in the Garden…
Oh, enough already! I’m grasping at straws to find some connection that can't exist. How would a guy whose contract expired at the end of 2021 be even remotely connected to stuff throughout the next year and culminated on 9/4/22?
Huh... 9… 4… 2+2… 944?
What was it that I noticed back in Part Two?
June 27, 2011: Punk delivers his landmark Pipebomb promo in WWE.
He would ultimately leave WWE and professional wrestling altogether 944 days later.
On January 1, 2019: All Elite Wrestling is founded.
944 days later, tickets for Rampage: The First Dance sell out within minutes.
Okay. But still, what does any of that really have to do with The Elite, in particular Cody? Hell, if anything Cody might be more inclined to side with Punk than the Elite. His history with Punk went back all the way to 2007 and they worked shows together for the next seven years. Both guys left WWE with similar frustrations. Cody would certainly know what it’s like dealing with the Bucks… From Cody’s last match in WWE to the creation of AEW, he was tied at the hip with Nick & Matt Jackson. As soon as he hit the indies, he linked up with them and many other AEW stalwarts in Reseda, California. You can learn a lot about people in…
Huh. That’s interesting.
May 16, 2016: Cody’s last match in WWE.
December 16, 2018: Cody’s last match before signing with AEW.
... 944 days.
Well, that’s actually pretty wild. These guys must have a really firm grasp on the history of their careers to line up Easter eggs like that. But really, that’s all they are: Easter eggs. The Elite and Punk are all famous trolls, so they may have been hoping some obsessive fool like myself would catch on and get pulled into the rabbit hole.
The trail stops at All Out, though. We can’t go into the future and see what happens 944 days from that media scrum, and the paths of most people involved in Brawl Out seem so divergent it’d be impossible to predict with any sort of accuracy. Punk is sidelined indefinitely, perhaps permanently. Kenny and the Bucks are back in action but their contract situations have started bubbling up in dirtsheets, so we can assume Hangman won’t be far behind in those rumors.
Meanwhile over in WWE, Cody Rhodes is sitting pretty. He’s getting massive cheers the AEW fanbase refused him toward the end, when his vision lost alignment with ours. Each passing day he climbs toward a mountain top of his own. In less than two weeks from now he will go to WrestleMania and try to overcome the most impenetrable obstacle in that company: the Bloodline.
If Cody succeeds at WrestleMania, his personal story would have a crowning achievement nearly every wrestler in history would envy. The fact that he bet on himself so many times and always won is remarkable. He’ll look even better considering the stains and scars imposed on “Paradise” after his departure. Maybe he could’ve helped avoid the embarrassment of All Out, but we’ll never know and that’s not for him to dwell upon. His primary focus should be on the Tribal Chief and stopping that historic reign in its tracks at...

... 944 days.

PART FIVE WILL EXAMINE THE FALLOUT FROM BRAWL OUT, THE CORONATION OF MJF, RIPPLE EFFECTS ACROSS PROMOTIONS, AND SPECULATE ON THE FUTURE…
I AM TAKING A DEEP, DEEP DIVE INTO ELITE LORE... SO IT’S GONNA TAKE A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF WORK AND MIGHT NOT BE HERE QUICKLY, BUT I THANK YOU FOR STICKING WITH ME THIS FAR AND I HOPE YOU’LL STAY ONBOARD FOR THE END OF THE RIDE!

2023.03.22 18:00 ZHODY ZHODY's FireRed Fire Reverse-Monolocke, Part 0: Rules and expectations

Welcome to the first part of my next Reverse Monolocke run. After successfully getting through the boring Dragon Reverse Monolocke in a difficulty hack, it’s time to finally do a Reverse Monolocke of a more interesting type. Namely, Fire-type!
The game I’ve chosen for this challenge is u/the_gerund’s favorite, FireRed. I’ll even be playing with the same Physical/Special Split patch they used! Since it won’t be randomized (aside from using UPR to allow impossible evolutions) I’ll be making some tough enemies of my Rival and Blaine.
These are my rules (which are closer to gerund’s rules this time): * Base nuzlocke rules. Dead is dead but blackout is not a game over. Battle type is SET. * Only Pokémon weak to a certain type are allowed. Pokémon who lack the weakness, but gain it on evolution are allowed. Pokémon who lose the weakness on evolution are prohibited from evolving. * One chance of catching per route (first encounter), but only valid Pokémon count as encounters. I can check Bulbapedia’s FireRed walkthrough to see whether or not a valid type appears on a route. * Kantonian Dupes Clause: Dupes Clause is only present if a new Pokemon appears in that area. If not, you're getting a duplicate. * Level cap is on par with each individual Pokémon of the next ‘boss battle’ (gym leaders, rival battles etc), with the exception of the problematic SS Anne rival battle. In case I have more Pokémon than the enemy, my excess Pokémon are lower than the enemy’s lowest Pokémon. In case I have fewer Pokémon than the enemy, I am allowed to add a level where I see fit for each Pokémon that I’m missing. * Shiny clause: any shiny that is weak to the chosen type may be caught and used no matter what. A shiny that does not have the weakness cannot be used but may still be caught and exchanged for either reviving a dead Pokémon or revisiting a previous route for another catch (all randomly determined). * In-game trades between two valid Pokemon are free game. In-game trades where the requested Pokémon is non-valid but the given Pokémon is valid may also be accepted, but I must “pay” a sum of money equal to the given Pokémon’s base stat total * its base xp yield. This will make sure the best Pokémon don’t come cheap. Examples: Bulbasaur 20K, Venusaur 123K, Magikarp 8K, Gyarados 102K, Dratini 18K, Dragonite 162K, Mewtwo 208K, Chansey 177K, Blissey 328K. It should be pretty rare to find a trade like this and pretty challenging to get 100K together to spend on it, so I think it’s fairly balanced. * Token rule, needed for rare types: For every route where I have to forfeit a catch because no valid type appears there, I get a token. 3 tokens can be spent to revisit a route where I know I can catch something. I can also use 2 tokens to catch in another subsection of a location (e.g. if Mount Moon has valid types on two floors and I missed a catch on Route 1 and 2, I can catch on two floors in Mount Moon). * If I manage to defeat Blaine I will roll a number for all of the Johto & Hoenn that share the chosen weakness and cannot be obtained normally. (Evolutions related to Kanto Pokemon do not count.) I will get a gift of that Pokemon (via PkHeX) to count as my Cinnabar Island encounter.
Starter Obviously there’s only 1 Starter that’s weak to fire, so Herb picked up Sage the Bulbasaur (male, Serious) while my rival Ash chose Charmander. About that Rival name: I had looked up synonyms for char and when I saw ash I just knew that would be the funniest Rival name. Feel free to imagine my rival as Gary wearing Ash’s (original) hat.
Sage easily survives the rival battle thanks to two Growls, though it took a lot of Tackles. BTW, his name comes from the new nickname theme, culinary herbs and spices.
Strengths and weaknesses If you’ve read my Weakness Type document you would have seen that the types I can use are Grass-, Bug-, Ice-, and Steel-types. Pokemon with one of those types and a sub-type of Fire, Water, Rock, or Dragon aren’t weak to Fire and therefore won’t be allowed.
Flying-types will be a huge weakness until I can get an elusive Ice- or Steel-type, but Water and Rock-types won’t stand a chance. Other than that, I’ll have plenty of status moves on hand to debuff my foes.
There will be plenty of Bug- and Grass-types available in the wild, but not as much of the other two types. Of the two Ice-types I’ll be able to use, one is clearly better than the other, while the three Steel-types are all equally great. Steel is my favorite type, so I’ll look forward to them~
Opportunities and expectations I'll go over all available evolutionary lines quickly:
BulbasauIvysauVenusaur: Great strong beast with plenty of utility, but I’ll only get one.
Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree: I’m excited to try gerund’s Sleep Powder+Dream Eater combo for the first time.
Weedle/Kakuna/Beedrill: Good for the early game before being quickly outclassed.
Oddish/Gloom/Vileplume/Bellossom: Great Special Attack.
Paras/Parasect: Weak to everything, but that ability to learn Dig could be useful.
Venonat/Venomoth: Psychic Bug... 2!!
Magnemite/Magneton: I’ll desperately need something to kill Flying-types.
Onix/Steelix: The Blaine Killer, mayhaps?
Exeggcute/Exeggutor: Tricky to use but that secondary-typing could be great.
Tangela: In desperate need of Tangrowth.
ScytheScizor: Way better than Beedrill.
Smoochum/Jynx: Bit of a glass cannon, but I’ll trade for her regardless.
Articuno: The only Pokemon Weak to Fire in Seafoam Islands.
Bellsprout/Weepinbel/Victreebel+Pinsir: LeafGreen Exclusives. Not in the Post-Blaine gift roll.
As for the Johto and Hoenn Pokemon...
Wanted: Chikorita/Bayleef/Meganium, Ledyba/Ledian (screens could be useful), Pineco/Forretress, Heracross, Sneasel, Swinub/Piloswine, Skarmory (My fave 🥹), Celebi, Cascoon/Dustox, Seedot/Nuzleaf/Shiftry, Shroomish/Breloom, Mawile, Cacnea/Cacturne, Tropius, Snorunt/Glalie, Beldum/Metang/Metagross, Regice, Registeel, Jirachi.
Unwanted: Spinarak/Ariados, Hoppip/Skiploom/Jumpluff, Sunkern/Sunflora, Yanma, Delibird, Treecko/Grovyle/Sceptile, Wurmple/Silcoon/Beautifly, Surskit/Masquerain, Nincada/Ninjask/Shedinja, Volbeat, Illumise, Roselia.
Well, turns out I like the majority of the Johto and Hoenn mons for this run, so hopefully I roll a good one. I don’t plan on doing a gift like this in any future runs, so this one chance better not go to waste.
So, what are my expectations and hopes for this run? Probably a lot of death to Ash, but I’m also really excited to see what Blaine’s defeat might gift me. My original plan for the gift was for me to get a random Johto Pokemon after Lt. Surge and a random Hoenn Pokemon after Blaine, but two gifts seemed like one too many, so I decided to stick to one.
Expect Part 1 with Brock sometime soon~

2023.03.22 17:02 anabolic_coach Q&A #68...Majestic Herbs Gynostemma for the Win!

Q&A #68...Majestic Herbs Gynostemma for the Win!
Q: Hey man I just wanted to say I really liked the info you gave us about Gynostemma tea. I never even knew this tea existed let alone all the performance and health benefits that it offers.
You seem to know a lot about herbs as well as all the other bodybuilding supplements too. You are like an encyclopedia of knowledge and not just on drugs and training info.
I am an older bodybuilder closing in on 50 years old. I have been on and off the gas for over 30 years. I really like all the longevity content you are discussing and I find it very informative and interesting.
I have one complaint though. You didn't mention what brands of Gynostemma to buy? I am sure there are good and bad quality ones, like just about everything out there.
I found one called Majestic Herbs Gynostemma. Did you ever hear of it? If so please let me know what you think of this brand?
Thanks Coach for all the wonderful content!
Majestic Herbs Gynostemma is of the Highest Quality!
A: Hey man its great to hear from you. So you liked the info on Gynostemma tea eh? I am very happy that I was the one to introduce you to this nutritional powerhouse. It has so much good stuff to offer that its too good not to drink. Plus I actually love the taste of it too.
Yes I have heard of Majestic Herbs brand and it is one of the ones that I recommend. I am planning another article about all the different forms of taking Gynostemma and brands as well in the near future. But today I will cover the Majestic Herbs Gynostemma as that is what you wanted to know about.
With the two part series I did on the health and performance benefits of Gynostemma tea I received a ton of DM's with questions and praises. Today I want to give you an in depth look at one of the products that you mentioned and that is none other than Majestic Herbs Gynostemma tea.
I Love Gynostemma Tea!
Rare Medicinal Herbs at Your Fingertips!
First off when it comes to different companies that produce high quality herbs and teas, Majestic Herbs is one of my favourite. Now for those of you who don’t know, Majestic Herbs is located out of Thailand but it is run by a fellow Canadian who moved out there a decade ago. He created this business to fill the gap of sourcing rare medicinal herbs especially for those that live in areas where they are nearly impossible to find.
He also wanted to provide customers with the highest quality organic medicinal herbs and teas available at an affordable price. This would allow these rare medicinal herbs to be shipped right to your door. No longer would you have to search high and low trying to get your hands on high quality herbs. With Majestic Herbs being an online business, getting your herbs is quick and easy.
Gynostemma Offers Amazing Health Benefits!
What Does Gynostemma Offer Your Health and Performance?
Now for those of you who have missed my series on Gynostemma I recommend you go back and give it a read. I have provided a ton of information based on medical studies to help you understand all that it has to offer your health and training performance. Here I want to highlight just a few of the many positive benefits Gynostemma tea has on the human body.
  • Gynostemma can help fight and prevent several forms of Cancer

  • Works with chemotherapy to improve its effectiveness and reduce damaging effects that it is noted for

  • Prevents cardiovascular disease from several angles

  • Optimizes blood pressure to treat both low and high levels

  • Lowers cholesterol, triglycerides, and irregular heart beats

  • Strengthens the immune system against bacteria and viruses

  • Provides potent antioxidant protection against free radicals

  • Improves muscle pumps in the gym due to increased nitric oxide production
  • Helps to reduce mental and physical stress and replenish depleted serotonin and dopamine levels

  • Helps ease insomnia and regulates your sleep cycle
  • Increases training endurance and recovery between sessions

  • Helps to decrease body fat levels

  • Improves insulin sensitivity for optimal health
  • Stimulates Glutathione Peroxidase product to help detox the body of toxins, pesticides, and heavy metals

  • Now these are just a handful of the different things that Gynostemma tea has to offer those that consume it.

  • It has been studied by medical researchers for several decades with tons of studies that have been conducted on it. This is truly one of the healthiest teas you can drink.
Gynostemma's Performance Benefits are Amazing for Bodybuilders!
Why Do I Like Majestic Herbs So Much?
Now there are many different Gynostemma teas available on the market so what makes Majestic Herbs different? One thing that really stands out is the integrity of this company. For me this is a big thing and I am sure many of you reading this feel the same way. Majestic Herbs Gynostemma tea is first off organic. This is a big plus for me especially when you don’t want to be thinking about what kind of pesticides could be used. Majestic Herbs source of Gynostemma is a fair trade product grown by local hill tribe farmers.
Beautiful Gynostemma Farms in Thailand!
This provides income to local farmers that have in the past relied on drug crops such as opium to provide for their families. By growing and cultivating Gynostemma it has provided a way out for these farmers to earn money while not relying on illegal drug farming. This allows them for a better way of life and a way to take care of their families without resorting to past means. In fact, Majestic Herbs Gynostemma is not just pesticide free but no chemical fertilizers are used as well.
Organic and Fair Trade
These Gynostemma farms are also run under a project by the government to help solve the issues of deforestation and soil erosion to make it easy on the environment from every angle. Under this Royal Project program, only sustainable and organic methods are allowed and practised in the farming of these crops. These farms and their products are also licensed and inspected by the Thailand version of the FDA. Since no chemical fertilizers are used, these hill tribe farmers rely on compost and humus methods.
Making Sure Your Gynostemma is Free of Pesticides is a Must!
Once the Gynostemma is ready to be harvested it is hand picked and dried using the traditional pan drying method. This is one of there reasons why Majestic Herbs Gynostemma tastes amazing, but also why it is so potent. When someone purchases Majestic Herbs Gynostemma not only are you benefiting your health and wellness, but you are doing much more. You are also helping provide a legal income to farmers and help sustain the traditions and way of life for the indigenous hill people of northern Thailand. Now with all that I just mentioned, how could I not want to spend my hard earned money with a company based on integrity and transparency like Majestic Herbs?
How Do I Prepare this Amazing Tea?
Now many of you might be wondering what is the best way to brew up Majestic Herb’s Gynostemma tea. There are a couple ways you can do it but I will outline below the best procedure to make the tastiest and most potent method available.
Start with Clean Water!
Step 1: Use High Quality Water
I am assuming the large majority of you reading this do care about the quality of the water you drink on a daily basis. One important note is that to get the best taste from tea, using a high quality clean water is a must. It can be reverse osmosis, distilled, or any other high filtration method to make sure it is clean and toxin free.
Don't Over Heat Your Gynostemma!
Step 2: Dial in the Temperature
Now take this clean pure water source and get it heated up to around the 90 degrees Celsius mark. You can use a food thermometer if you like but I am sure many of you don’t have the patience for this. I do seem to know my readers well, don’t I? To make this even easier you can bring the water to a boil on the stove. Once you have reached this point, remove it from the heat source and allow it to cool for about three minutes. This will most of the time get it to the right temperature without all the hassle.

Step 3: Add in the Gynostemma Tea
Here you can add in 1-2 teaspoons for each 250 ml of water used. If you are going to make a litre of tea, simply add in 4-8 teaspoons of Gynostemma to help provide the optimal dosage. You can try with the lower amount your first time and then increase from there to help you see not only where you like the flavour best, but also for its effects as well.
They Don't Call it \"Wonder Grass\" for Nothing!
Step 4: Steep for Potency
Now the next thing you want to do after you add in the tea is to steep it. Here you can cover and allow the tea to steep for a minimum of ten minutes. This is the least amount of time you want because you want to extract all those amazing gypenosides that I discussed in my series. One thing I like to do is let it steep for a full two hours. Oh yea I like my Gynostemma tea strong that is for sure. This allows the maximum concentration of those healing saponins to be pulled from these delicate leaves.
Brew to Perfrection!
Step 5: Drink and Be Merry
Now that your tea is ready, its time to drink up all that goodness that it possesses. You can drink it anytime of the day or night without any concerns. Like I mentioned in my articles, Gynostemma is dual directional. This means that it will help provide energy throughout the day, and then help you calm down and relax in the evening.
Tips and Tricks
Now many of you might be wondering how much to drink daily to reap all the benefits. For the beginner I would recommend at least 2-4 cups each and every day spaced out. Don’t try and drink that much all at once as you will get better results spacing it out. In terms of when is the best time to drink this delicious tea, consuming it about half hour before meals on an empty stomach is best. You can also take it a couple hours after a meal as well.
Make Sure to Use Enough Dry Tea to be Potent!
Now in the above paragraph I recommended 1-2 grams of tea per cup of water. For those of you who are more advanced and have responded well to the tea, this can be increased to find your sweet spot. Remember Gynostemma is safe and non toxic in nature. It has been consumed for thousands of years by people who drink large amounts everyday. The thing noted by these people is not only their healthy bodies free of disease and illness, but also their very long lifespans as well.
How Do I get my hands on Majestic Herbs Gynostemma?
Now like I mentioned before, getting your hand on this amazing tea is simple and easy. All you have to do is go to their website which I will leave below and place your order. They also have a contact form on their website. This way if you have any questions or concerns they will get back to you. They even have a customer service and order line as well if you would like to reach out and call. I have always received fast and courteous service that goes above and beyond what other companies offer. This is another reason why I have always liked dealing with “Mom and Pop” businesses over large corporations where they care less about your needs.
Majestic Herbs Gynostemma for the Win!
Conclusion
So take it from me. If you are new to Gynostemma tea then you are in for a real treat with Majestic Herbs organic tea. For those of you who have read my articles over the last two decades, you know that I try and source out those hidden gems that are not so easy to find in a wide variety of niche areas that strength athletes can benefit from.
Majestic Herbs is one of those hidden gems that you will be very pleased with that is for sure. If you are looking for a high quality organic Gynostemma tea, then look no further. Majestic Herbs will provide you with an amazing high quality and potent Gynostemma that will truly help you on your path to health and longevity!

2023.03.22 15:42 TeaAndCozy 9 more Nui Cobalt Bees & Favorite Things

I'm back with thoughts on my new Nui Cobalt Bees! I previously posted thoughts on the 19 Bees and Favorite Things I'd tried HERE - I have a bunch of favorite Bees, including Queen Bee and Bees Love Blue for florals, The Bees' High Tea, Honeymoon Suite, Wasp, and Busy Bee, all especially wonderful for particular seasons of the year, Bee Kind To Yourself (concept by our very own u/propheticperfumes here at IMAM! Truly not to be missed), and Emotional Support Bee and She Stopped to Pet a Bumblebee for gentle, delicate, my-skin-but-better scents. Today I'm sharing my thoughts on 9 more, all of them new releases this year. Despite being sick for the last two weeks and counting (ugh), after the first week of illness I was happily able to get back to enjoying perfume. Thus this review post comes a little later than my usual, but I'm delighted to still get it out in time for the next release (April Fools this Friday!) in case you might want to add any of these to your next order.
Ordering specs: Nui Cobalt's website is easy to navigate, shipping is very affordable (please note that since the slight price increase this year, base shipping has gone up from $2.99 to $3.45, just fyi), items come very securely packed, and customer service is always spectacular. I don't think I've ever placed an order that took more than 2-3 business days to ship (and recently it has usually been literally the very next day). Samples are generous - 1.15 mls at least - in vials with wand caps. Each order comes with one free sample, chosen by them (there’s no box to insert requests).
Nui Cobalt's typical annual schedule of releases: (I [and especially Nui Cobalt] make no promises, of course, that these collections will recur; this is just in my experience)
My preferences: I especially love snuggly scents, incense, golden amber, cardamom, black tea, beeswax, non-gourmand vanillas, and white florals (though sadly I am allergic to lilies and in my admittedly limited experience, jasmine doesn’t work on me). I don't like hay, overly sweet gourmands, excessive musk, dragon’s blood, leather, patchouli, labdanum, or any really dark scents in general. To my great devastation, Nui Cobalt’s apricot and pear notes don’t tend to work on me, though I haven’t given up hope and I continue to try new blends with those notes occasionally.
These perfumes were provided as press samples by Nui Cobalt in exchange for an honest review.

New Bees

It's Hive Code [Spring harvest honey, a faithful accord of rare Ghost Orchid, neroli and bergamot hand lotion, and a dark base of melted fudge] - I got this sample because most of these notes sounded absolutely heavenly. Honey, orchid, neroli, and bergamot? Count me in - that sounds amazingly light and springy. I kept my fingers crossed that the fudge would be minimal. In the vial, it's a base of honey and chocolate fudge, with the light citrus and floral above, and on my skin, it continues to be a fight between the gorgeous, breezy springtime floral and the heavier, waxy (almost tootsie roll-ish) chocolate. And it's so strange, because up close, the chocolate is so much less obvious that it really almost is the scent I wanted it to be. Personally, I just really wish it didn't have the fudge - I think all of the other notes are just perfect! All in all, It's Hive Code is much more atmospheric than springtime. Like the the several NCD blends that pair caramel with wildly different notes (Mad Scientist, Glass Pumpkin, Venus Verticordia), this one is a thoroughly unexpected combination. My approach to it is also slightly hampered by the fact that I haven't seen the Netflix show (Wednesday) that it's an homage to.
The Bees' Carnival [Cotton candy spun from crystallized honey, fresh leaves of lemon verbena, blue raspberry drizzle, and a grounding smolder of sweet myrrh] - This one is COTTON CANDY and a lot of honey, with only mere hints of the lemon and blue raspberry. (If you love the cotton candy of Nephophilia [A fluffy melange of pink cotton candy, ivory cashmere, silk tree blossoms, blush suede, and steamed vanilla] but wanted it to have even more cotton candy, The Bees' Carnival is for you!) I was expecting more blue raspberry, but happily I do have Blue Moon [A diaphanous lunar musk entwines living honeysuckle and sugared blue raspberry] and Dewdrops on Spidersilk [Cerulean strands of cotton flower bejeweled with dewdrops, cold crystalline musk, tiny black vanilla beans, frozen blue raspberry, and gentle incense] to scratch that itch. The herbal quality of the lemon verbena and the slight earthiness of the myrrh come out in the drydown, keeping the really golden nature of this honey from becoming too cloying.
Honey, I'm Home [Snowdrops and fresh nectar from their first petals unfurled, golden sunlight, yellow crocus, and warmed honeycomb] - This one is GORGEOUS - the light-golden warmth of an early spring day. After an initial burst of warm but airy honey, the honey blends in with the flowers, which really are yellow in their scent color. There's nothing grassy about these florals but they remind me of chamomile nonetheless - chamomile and daisies perhaps, they're just so cheerful and happy. This is the springtime sibling to Yellow Leaves [Blooming moringa, olivewood, coriander, oakmoss, tangerine, and helichrysum], the most perfect autumnal floral. After its initial burst of honey, this scent dries down to cling quite closely to my skin, a private little bubble of buoyancy and optimism.
Wretched Hive of Scum & Villainy [Portrait of an extraterrestrial desert and its elusive denizens: dry white sandalwood, Tunisian tea, cracked coriander, cassia bark, amber resin, raw cotton, and combs full of precious honey that few will ever taste] - Friends, Nui Cobalt has done it again: another spectacular black tea scent! This one is black tea spiced with coriander and cinnamon, gently sweetened with honey, and with some very subtle nuances of cotton flower and sandalwood (making it a much more rainy-day-cozy scent than the perfume's name might suggest). This tea note is more incensey than Blarney: Irish Breakfast Tea [The warm, tannic comfort of a proper Cuppa sweetened with a touch of raw honey and smoothed with fresh cream], more like the black tea in Unbought & Unbossed: A Tribute to Shirley Chisholm [The fragrance inspired by her is a strong and sophisticated spiced tea with raw honey and Barbados sugar sipped among the sunlit roses of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden] and Cloak of Evergreens [Snow-covered spruce, iced cedar tips, golden pine sap, icicle musk, and the fading memory of tea by the fireside].
The Beekeeper's Funeral [This comforting blend opens with gentle Bulgarian lavender and petrichor, then blooms with Casablanca lily, honeysuckle, and wet grass, and settles at last into a pillow of fluffy whipped honey] - A very pretty, understated floral-aquatic. I get white florals (but not too bold), an herbal lavender, grass, and rain - this petrichor is more the smell of the watery rain itself rather than wet pavement. Oddly enough for this being a Bee, I actually don't get any honey, though there is a little bit of sweetness that reminds me of the white amber in Mirror [Pale amber and white tea are accented by dry coconut, angelica, and cooling rain], in part because of the shared rain note.
Bee You Tiful [Honey-roasted pistachio and chestnut, pink magnolia, and sweet apple blossom] - When it first arrived, sniffed in the vial, this one smelled entirely of honeyed-salty-toasty nuts. On my first wear (though I was getting sick at the time so I didn't count it as a proper "first-test"), the florals were there, but almost entirely obscured. So this one is definitely one that benefited from a proper rest, because when I wore it again, wow! I'm really not sure that I want to smell like nuts (although I remain utterly fascinated by the idea of Black Baccara's Shamrock Potion [Pistachio mousse, fresh whipped cream, slivered almonds, and a drizzle of french vanilla syrup] and hope someday to buy a really small decant), but this perfume is awfully convincing. I still get toasty, honeyed nuts, but they are beautifully balanced with the florals, particularly the apple blossom. Nui Cobalt has a gorgeous apple blossom note! I have previously said that Pixie [An apple orchard in bloom, spring grasses alive with an unearthly glow, vanilla bean offertory cakes, and sparkling honey mead] is an early autumn perfume for me, and Venus Amica [Sun-warmed wildflowers, olivewood, apple blossom, light amber, moringa leaf, and sacred benzoin] is an early spring perfume; well, I think Bee You Tiful is going to be a "transition from spring to summer" scent for me. The honey, pistachio, and faint apple combine to be reminiscent of some sort of delightful pastry - is a pistachio-apple galette a thing? And yet this isn't a realistic gourmand, especially with the wafting florals making it much more atmospheric. The overall impression is of a garden party. Many hours later, the top-note florals are gone, but the gentle nuts remain.

New Favorite Things

All Dolled Up [Spiced apricot preserves, almond blossom, pink peony, Hawaiian and Australian sandalwoods, balsam of Peru, and sunlit amber] - Despite the notes list starting off with apricot and almond, All Dolled Up does NOT read like a Squirrel (which all start with the same base: "A playful blend of almond and spiced apricot, grounded in rich benzoin and copaiba balsam"). Instead, it reminds me strongly of Rose Gold Sky [Fuzzy apricot, amber resin, styrax, pink sandalwood, clove bud, melissa, and blush rose], but lighter and more warm-weather. When I tried this, I didn't have the notes list in front of me (and I didn't remember it), so my impression that this scent is pink amber + apricot + clove (see the connection to Rose Gold Sky?) was completely independent of the actual official notes. Then seeing the notes list a little later in the day, I could also easily make out the peony (a very "pink" floral), which is a big part of why this reads as more summery than Rose Gold Sky.
Candlelight [Molten vanilla caramel, Egyptian musk, mahogany, honey amber, black tea, cathedral incense, a pinch of galangal, and a glimmer of white grapefruit] - Caramel and honey, thick and rich and luscious, backed by golden amber, a touch of grapefruit to cut the molten sweetness, and a whole lot of very expensive-smelling Egyptian musk. There are some indistinct spices too, which is perhaps how my nose is reading the black tea and incense. (This is a bummer, because I LOVE Nui Cobalt's black tea + incense combo, but this scent doesn't really feature them.) It's a heavy, luxurious scent, a sister to Ailurophilia (Love of Cats) [Egyptian musk, tonka, and dulce de leche wrapped in luxuriant cashmere, soft suede, wisps of sandalwood and copal smoke]. Its dark, honeyed quality is also reminiscent of Arcana Snug [The scent of staying in to watch the snow fall: dark honey amber, marshmallow, and the glow of beeswax candles], but with caramel instead of beeswax. All this being said about its complexity and rich layers, my colleague walked into the church choir room this morning and from across the room from me said "It smells like pancakes!", to which I sheepishly admitted that it was probably me. (It was.) So, this one has tremendous throw, much stronger than most Nui Cobalts, and to an untrained nose, apparently smells extremely (and solely) like maple syrup! (To me, though, it's not nearly as similar to the mapley Little Brown Rabbit as it is to the caramel of Ailurophilia.)
Fairy Garden [Cool dewdrops cupped in clover leaves, early purple orchid, a porcelain thimble of green tea with oat milk, and frosted almond cakes served in an acorn cap] - It goes on more gourmand than I was expecting, primarily oat milk, green tea, and sugary frosting. Behind these are a bit of acorn earthiness (I recognize a similar acorn note to Deep Midnight Wildwood [Pumpkin Bread, Incense, Acorns, Dried Apple and Orange Peels, Fading Bonfire], the only other place I've experienced an acorn accord) and a touch of floral. At first (and to my surprise, based on the order of the notes list), I don't get any aquatic dewdrop nor any grassy clover but as the scent dries, these start to emerge as the sweetness of the frosting recedes. Eventually, all these notes combine to create a very balanced and detailed scent portrait not just of a fairy garden, but of the fairies holding a fancy tea party among the flowers. I'm curious, for anyone who has tried both: how similar is Fairy Garden to Poesie Green Girl [Pistachio, wildflower honey, oatmilk matcha latte, heliotrope blossoms, marshmallow musk]? Fairy Garden has a Poesie-style whimsicality which I'm really loving.

Personally...

The stunners from the new releases, for me, are Honey, I'm Home and Wretched Hive of Scum & Villainy.
Or if you want to imagine yourself part of a fairy tea party, go for Bee You Tiful and Fairy Garden.
And The Beekeeper's Funeral and All Dolled Up are just lovely warm-weather scents.

Where these landed in my collection:

I would love to hear your thoughts on these - which ones did you love most? - or if I've inspired you to add any to your wishlist!

2023.03.22 15:00 KhoaFraelich 2023 Ineos Grenadier review

2023 Ineos Grenadier review
Not only does it live up to the original Land Rover Defender brief, the Grenadier goes above and beyond but it's not perfect.

https://preview.redd.it/rizu8018k9oa1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=1c4544853e9d4c891199a795e6e7a6c70c08ce3c
The Ineos automotive brand might be new, but what has led to the creation of the Grenadier wagon and soon, the Grenadier ute is nothing short of extraordinary.

With the absence of the Land Rover Defender in its original, tough ladder chassis form, the gap in the market for a fully capable off-road vehicle that feels at home in the city and one which you can hose the mud out of, was left to no other than British billionaire and chemical engineer, Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The original idea was to simply buy the tooling and the manufacturing products from Land Rover and continue producing the Defender one way or another, but the British brand evidently wasn’t very keen and what was then conceived at the Grenadier pub in London almost as a ‘we can do it better ourselves any way’, became the Ineos Grenadier.

Imagine this; start with a near-unlimited budget for a passion project and hire the likes of Magna Steyr to engineer your vehicle, BMW to produce the engines, ZF to make the transmission and Bosch to supply a great deal of the other parts… then you buy a pre-existing Mercedes-Benz production facility and further invest a claimed $770 million AUD in upgrades to produce the vehicle.

That probably needs some context because if you don’t know, Magna Steyr happens to be the same company that makes a similar car, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class – or G-Wagen.

Yep, that’s right, the same company that produces what is probably the most famous SUV in the world also happened to engineer the Ineos Grenadier. Conflict of interest? Don’t tell Mercedes.

It gets better though; because having talked to the engineers who have made the project come to life, most are from the likes of Mercedes, Jaguar Land Rover, and even McLaren.

Thankfully, the Grenadier starts at $97,000 (originally $85k) and not the $400,000 on-road the G-Wagen has become, and that is perhaps what the Grenadier is here to do. It’s to provide a fully capable alternative to the ultra-expensive off-roaders that have become as much a fashion icon as anything else.

The main question isn’t about the Grenadier’s intent or its individual parts, however.

We know Magna can engineer a car, we know BMW can make great engines that work amazingly well with ZF transmissions, and we know Bosch supplies automotive parts to the absolute majority of other manufacturers.

The real question, is whether the Grenadier is a genuine alternative for the original Defender and befitting of a new model in 2023? The answer to that question is actually a resounding yes, but with some caveats that we will discuss in this review.

How much does the 2023 Ineos Grenadier cost?
As previously mentioned, the Grenadier saw a substantial price increase last year which added as much as $13,000 to the price of the Wagon and Ute.

Although Ineos has put this down to the increasing cost of materials – which is definitely a contributing factor – we also have no doubt that the increase is also driven by market dynamics of supply and demand and perhaps a repositioning of the brand itself given just how popular the original price point was with buyers.

2023 Ineos Grenadier pricing:

Utility Wagon

Base: $97,000 (up 14.8 per cent or $12,500)
Fieldmaster Edition: $107,400 (up 12.5 per cent or $11,905)
Trailmaster Edition: $108,525 (up 13.6 per cent or $13,030)
Station Wagon

Base: $98,000 (up 14.6 per cent or $12,500)
Fieldmaster Edition: $109,525 (up 13.5 per cent or $13,030)
Trailmaster Edition: $109,525 (up 13.5 per cent or $13,030)
Prices exclude on-road costs

If you were lucky enough to get in at that price, you have got yourself a bargain, but for the rest the price increase does genuinely position the vehicle in a place now that makes you really have to consider whether you can trust a first time manufacturer to produce a vehicle that costs well in excess of $100k.

While the price increase is unfortunate, options in the hardcore 4×4 market are limited considering orders for the LandCruiser 70 remain closed on the back of rampant demand unmatched by supply.

There’s also no haggling given Ineos is using an ‘agency model’ with fixed pricing. The company will control inventory and pricing, and pay dealer partners a “straight-forward commission”, much in the style of Mercedes-Benz and Honda.

Australia is a huge market for the Grenadier in terms of orders, coming in the top five, which means local market feedback and input has been well and truly taken into account. You can find a list of Ineos Grenadier retail locations here.

What is the Ineos Grenadier like on the inside?
First impressions when you get inside the Grenadier cabin are that of a modern and actually not all that austere interior. It was not what we expected and it’s fair to say we were pleasantly surprised.

The Recaro seats are comfortable in all available configurations, whether it’s cloth, vinyl or leather. We found the seating position in the front to be excellent for visibility and ease of access to the switchgear and cabin.

With the majority of off-road controls cleverly placed on the roof – inspired by aircraft cockpits – there is heaps of room in the cabin itself and it never feels overwhelming or unusable.

This is a case of what happens when a new company that has never made cars is allowed to rethink the basics. Having used the 4WD controls on the roof, the question becomes – why don’t all cars have this?

So front seat ergonomics are fantastic, but not perfect. There are a couple of issues for right-hand drive models that seem a little bizarre.

Firstly, the windscreen wiper does a terrible job of cleaning the edge of the right side of the screen. A decently sized area near the A-pillar on the right of the windscreen is basically untouched and given the wet and muddy conditions in which we drove the Grenadier in, it becomes a genuine visibility issue when turning right.

You get used to it and its likely not an issue for the absolute majority of the time you are driving, but it is nonetheless a strange thing to encounter in a modern car.

Secondly, right-hand drive vehicles are disadvantaged with the exhaust manifold of the BMW engines (diesel or petrol) both taking up an unusual amount of space in the footwell where you would usually have your footrest.

This means your left foot is sitting a fair bit higher than one would probably be used to and if you happen to use the car on a farm, with big boots, this further exaggerates the problem.

Again, we got used to this unexpected feature after a few hours of driving but as with the wiper, it’s not something you would expect from a modern car.

When quizzed, Ineos engineers told us they initially planned to change the engineering of the vehicle to address it, but it would have changed the cabin or chassis size and this wasn’t feasible.

It’s also worth mentioning that in some of the vehicles we drove, the fit and finish of the interior were not as great as we would have wished for.

From the roof control panel feeling easy to pull off to the outside door handles that jammed (we are told these will be fixed for all Australian-delivered vehicles), there is no doubt that first batch production vehicles have some room for improvement; and hopefully those improvements are passed on to the first vehicles delivered for our market.

For all the niggling issues, the interior is genuinely excellent for its intended purpose – it’s comfortable, it’s spacious and has heaps of storage.

The back seat is also a great place to be for long drives as you can easily fit two six-foot adults behind one another, given the ample leg and headroom in both rows. In saying that, while the front Recaro seats are ideal for off-roading, those sitting in the back have literally no support outside of holding on to the handle.

The 12.3-inch touchscreen display is super clear and very high resolution with wireless Apple CarPlay that works brilliantly. Ineos has outsourced the unique software and it’s on par if not better than some well-established manufacturers. You will have no issues using the infotainment system.

Without a traditional instrument cluster, though, you are forced to use the centre screen to see your speed and we did find that a little frustrating because, unlike other vehicles in which that is also the case (Tesla being the prime example), the Grenadier’s interior is vastly larger so the focal change point from the road to the screen is also more than other vehicles.

Given the Grenadier’s ‘instrument cluster’ is a tiny screen to show things like ignition light, check engine light etc, we feel it would have made a lot of sense to put a basic digital speedometer in that position.

The front and rear diff locks, plus the off-road mode and wading depth controls, are on the roof but to actually engage low range and lock the centre differential you need to use an old-school lever and, to be fair, it does look a little odd sitting next to the BMW-sourced gearstick which is super modern in design and appearance. So this is definitely a case of lots of parts being put together.

Even the steering wheel itself is interesting because, given the recirculating-ball setup, the number of wheel turns you need to do in basic manoeuvring lends itself to using a wheel that is not so circular and allows for a better understanding of the top and bottom.

The 1255L boot is huge, and the way the rear doors open allows super quick access from the left side using the smaller door, because opening the larger one on the right is not only a heavier operation (it carries the spare tyre) but also requires far more room to swing open.

What’s under the bonnet?
Ineos will offer 3.0-litre straight-six diesel and petrol options, both of which have been sourced from BMW and are codenamed B57 (diesel) and B58 (petrol).

Ineos says these engines, used across BMW’s sports cars and SUVs since 2016, have been tested in the Grenadier across 1.8 million kilometres and diverse climates. It’s not a straight fit and play, with ECU tuning taking place to better unlock torque down as low in the rev range.

The 3.0-litre twin-turbo diesel six makes 183kW of power (3250-4200rpm) and 550Nm of torque (1250-3000rpm) and is capable of moving the Grenadier from 0-100km/h in 9.9 seconds.

The 3.0-litre single-turbo petrol six makes 210kW of power (4750rpm) and 450Nm of torque (1750-4000rpm) and is capable of moving the Grenadier from 0-100km/h in 8.6 seconds.

Both engines come mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission (codenamed 8HP51 for the petrol, 8HP76 for the diesel), with what Ineos calls a new “heavy duty” torque converter.

The WLTP combined-cycle fuel economy for the diesel is a rated 10.3 to 11.8 litres per 100km, while the petrol uses between 13.2L/100km and 15.3L/100km.

Both engines have stop/start, and the diesel also has a 17L AdBlue tank. The standard fuel tank with both engine options carries 90 litres.

All Grenadiers come standard with permanent four-wheel drive (4WD), with low-range accessed through a 2.5:1 Tremec two-speed transfer case. Matching the class leaders, the Grenadier will also have a 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity.

There are no other powertrains confirmed for the Grenadier for the moment, however, the brand is well advanced creating a hydrogen fuel-cell version and is also working on a new model which will be a full electric version on a smaller and all-new platform for 2026.

How does the Ineos Grenadier drive?
The Ineos Grenadier came to life to meet a very specific design and engineering brief.

The wagon and utility versions are essentially a modernised iteration of what would otherwise be considered commercial vehicles; in fact they are very much considered commercial vehicles when it comes to tax purposes.

With that in mind, it’s vital that buyers looking at the Grenadier understand this is not a cheap G-Wagen, nor is it a new-old Defender. It’s its own unique vehicle, with its own set of characteristics and traits – some of those are better and some are worse than said vehicles.

When it comes to driving, we will break this down into two parts; on-road and off-road.

From an on-road perspective, the Grenadier rode exceptionally well, even on poorly surfaced roads. There is no doubt that you can drive this vehicle in the city and it will do an excellent job of keeping you happy and comfortable.

The suspension setup and the way the vehicle behaves on sealed roads is a credit to the engineering team behind it.

The diesel engine is undoubtedly the powertrain that makes more sense to most buyers looking to tow or do long-distance rural driving, with better fuel economy and more torque.

Nonetheless, if you’re buying this and intend to do a fair bit of inner city driving and actually enjoy the driving experience, the petrol is a fantastic option – it’s faster, more responsive, sounds great and makes the Grenadier feel far more engaging and purposeful.

This tester would pick the petrol regardless of requirements just for its capacity to overtake other vehicles on the highway with significant ease.

The ZF eight-speed transmission is mated beautifully to both powertrain and frankly, given this exact setup has been used in BMW vehicles for a number of years, there is no contention around the powertrain and its ability to perform day in day out. It’s solid and reliable.

What may catch out some buyers is the recirculating-ball setup steering box, something more suited to trucks than most modern cars.

According to Ineos engineers, the reason this particular Bosch steering system was picked was due to its incredible off-road durability and capacity. In other words, it has been around and used in heavy-duty vehicles with over 1,000,000 kilometres without issue, and Ineos decided to go with that to suit the rugged character of the vehicle.

This is all well and good but for on-road driving, it’s a bit of a handful, literally. The amount of turning you need to do to make a basic manoeuvre can get a little frustrating but even just turning left or right at an intersection.

It will often see you turn, and then turn again and again until you realise you have likely done one too many rotations and turn back to correct. It’s entirely unlike a normal modern hydraulic or power steering system and more akin to driving a light truck.

You absolutely will get used to it, and by the second day it didn’t feel as cumbersome as our initial impressions, but while this may be fantastic for those that only do long-distance drives mixed in with rural roads and off-roading, it’s not ideal for those looking to drive these around inner-city environments.

The other option we wish it had was adaptive cruise control. Model-year 2024 Grenadiers will have autonomous emergency braking (AEB) but it will still not enable active cruise, which is unfortunate because this vehicle will likely do plenty of highway kilometres and it would be great to that driving stress further removed.

Overall though, the on-road driving aspect of the Ineos Grenadier is much better than we expected due to the ride comfort, power and torque delivery. The cabin is also very quiet with low levels of noise, harshness and vibrations.

Take the Ineos off-road and it goes into its true element. This is a vehicle that was designed to go off-road before it was designed to go on-road. Most car companies tend to put car reviewers on off-road courses that you can usually do in a basic medium SUV, but Ineos didn’t hold back.

An Off-Road driving mode disengages parking sensors, seatbelt reminders and start/stop, and from a regulatory standpoint we’d imagine this function is only accessible in low-range. The hill-descent control function can brake each wheel independently.

We crossed some of the most spectacular natural terrains, in the water, up and down Scottish mountains, and four-wheel drive tracks that would make hardcore enthusiasts proud. There is not much to say except that we never got stuck and the diff locks and the powertrain worked spectacularly.

It can occasionally be cumbersome to engage low-range using the manual lever (neutral to be engaged first), with some occasional crunching – which occurred even to our Ineos engineers – and as there are no sensors to detect differential locking positions (to save complexity and weight), wheel speed sensors are used which means engaging and disengaging the front and rear diffs are basically manual and require movement that highlights the differing wheel speed (like a turn).

All-terrain tyres are supplied by Bridgestone (Dueler AT 001) or BFGoodrich (AT T/A KO2) depending on spec, and Brembo disc brakes come standard. Electromechanical Eaton diff lockers front and rear are also available either as standard or an option depending on grade.

Ground clearance is 264mm, wading depth 800mm, approach angle 36.3 degrees, breakover 28.2 degrees, and departure angle 36.1 degrees. Powder-coated skid plates and a fuel-tank plate are standard.

The other great thing is that the amount of accessories expected for the Ineos (given the company has made the blueprint for the car publicly accessible to support the aftermarket) will be huge, so those looking to start with a base car and build what they need will have plenty of options.

The Ineos is an excellent compromise between on- and off-road driving as it can one pretty well and the other spectacularly. The only place in which owners may find the driving dynamics challenging is in built-up, city areas that require a lot of close manoeuvring but even then, it’s an intimidating car that will make its own way.

Is the Ineos Grenadier safe?
There is no official crash test data from any resting authority for the Grenadier and there is every chance there never will be, given the position of this vehicle as commercial rather than passenger.

Standard safety features include:

Front, side and curtain airbags
ESP with trailer-sway control
Tyre pressure monitor
Reversing camera and sensors
ISOFIX and top tethers (five-seat versions)
There’s no mention of driver-assist active safety features such as autonomous emergency braking or lane-keeping aids, meaning a five-star NCAP or ANCAP rating looks impossible.

How much does the Ineos Grenadier cost to run?
The Ineos Grenadier is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty with five years of roadside assist.

Servicing intervals are recommended at 12 months for normal usage or six-month servicing “for continuous use in tough environments”.

As well as servicing Grenadiers at its retail centres, Ineos has cut a global deal with Bosch Car Service centres to cater to more remote operators. “Flying Spanner” techs based in the Australian HQ are also said to be available, if the service network needs help.

For owners who want to carry out work on their Grenadier themselves, Ineos is taking a novel approach by providing online 3D interactive manuals with support from the technical team at HQ a call or a click away.

“The vehicle has been deliberately designed and engineered to be easy to work on inside and out,” the company claims. It bills its “open source” approach, without trying to “ring-fence” buyers into its own ecosystem, as a point-of-difference for enthusiasts.

It’s not yet clear what conditions will be placed on DIY owners, from a warranty perspective.

CarExpert’s Take
There is a lot to love about the Ineos Grenadier.

It started life as nothing but an idea at a pub between friends, and ended up bringing together an enormous amount of knowledge from some of the best engineers in the world and huge amounts of investment to create an ultra-modern, rugged vehicle that is just as suited to the farm and rural areas as it is for a drive from Sydney to Melbourne.

The Grenadier is an excellent adventure vehicle and those looking to get out of the city, camp and enjoy a more outdoor lifestyle will also benefit massively from the number of accessories available for the vehicle.

The only asterisks for us are the niggling initial production quality issues that we are very hopeful will be solved before local cars arrive, and a steering system which will take some buyers a bit of getting used to.

2023.03.22 14:24 pdthrowaway104 [M4F] - Stressful day, help me unwind. 17 Prompts to pick from!

18+ only for these RP's please. I have a pretty down day so I'll be around for a long time today. Very much into tiny little fun-sized girls taking their first BWC or BBC
I tend to lean towards playing closer to my real age. (early 40's)
1 - First time doing porn : You ran away from home and moved to L.A to pursue your dreams of being a actress, only for it to never take off like so many other women. Eventually, broke and unable to get work you decide to go to a casting office for one of the big porn studios. They love you instantly and agree to use you in the next shoot. What you don't know is that the male lead they are basically feeding you to is known for breaking newcomers. Violent, rough and vicious are how people describe him in scenes.
2 - Celebrity Contest - You are a young starlet looking to get some more press. Your agent suggests that you run a contest for your fans with the reward being you. When the contract is drawn up you just sign it without reading it. Without realizing it you've now made yourself the winners slave who has to live with them for a full week, alternatively you willingly enter into a free-use situation with the contest winner. We can discuss what exactly the contest is, as well as anything else about the scene you'd like to alter. Please include the celeb of your choice
3 - The new live-in maid - You've taken a job for a very wealthy (and more attractive then you expected before the interview) single man on the outskirts of town. I enjoy this one both ways. Either it starts with a uniform sluttier then you would of liked and slowly progresses to me getting more and more aggressive. Or you decide to get the slutty outfit and pursue me aggressively.
4 - The Club - You decided to go out with your friends, all dressed as slutty as possible. They all pair off with a guy at the club fairly quickly but you head to the dance floor alone. You feel a very large man come up behind you and encircle your waist with his hands and begin dancing with you, grinding against your back. This one can go many ways, either I'm super aggressive, or I put something in your drink. Alternatively you are just a cock hungry little slut out to have some fun and its my lucky night. (A favorite of mine right now)
5 - Girl Next Door - You've lived next door to me all your life, that older single guy that seems to have all the toys and the party life style. When you got older and your parents retired and spend most of their time away, you still lived at home and spent most of your time out sun bathing. We speak often as my hot tub is near our shared fence. It was innocent when you were younger, now its flirty and I'm obviously checking out your body whenever you're in a bikini. One night you're bored and lonely and see me out in the hot tub listening to music and drinking beer from a cooler and decide to come down and ask to join me. Alternatively you could be the slutty girl next door and come over with the exact purpose of seducing me into some rough play. (This is one of my favorite ideas right now)
6 - Blackmail - You are a minor or major celebrity with a secret, it could be a sex tape or any number of other things. But someone has it now, and all you know is you are ordered to show up to a hotel room at 8pm tonight.
7 - The Party - You went to a party at some ones house you didn't know, of course between the joints and the booze being passed around it isn't long until you're completely trashed. Eventually one of the guys at the party takes you upstairs to "lay down", we all know what happens from that point. This can either be non-con, dub-con or could be that drunk you is slutty as hell
8 - Mind Control - My character has developed a app that will make people who use it completely open to suggestion from him. You could be a regular woman or a celebrity who he tricks into downloading the app, making you his own little slave.
9 - Pornstars stalker - Simple enough, pick a porn star and I'll play her stalker that eventually gets his hands on her to use like a toy. Or combine with some other prompts.
10 - Best friends girl- Your best friend has the most amazing piece of ass for a girlfriend. However one night she's hanging out, drunk and lets it slip that their sex life is less then impressive and goes on about how she just wants someone to rip her clothes off and use her.
11 - Down on your luck - You got kicked out of your house the day you turned 18. After years of not gaining any useful skills you find yourself living on the street. Until one day a man shows up offering to let you stay with him, no strings attached. Until the strings end up tied around your wrists.
12 - Need a ride - Maybe you're unable to find a taxi after coming out of the club, tipsy and alone. Maybe your hitchhiking or maybe your car broke down.
Either way I'm the first car that has stopped for you and you know what they say. Cash, grass or ass
13 - The Purge - Set to the theme of the movie, you're a hot little thing with no plan for surviving the night and decide to do what you always do. Try to get some big strong man to help you by flashing your tits and ass. Only he decides he wants to do a lot more then look.
14 - The Festival - I have several ideas surrounding this. Either spurred on by drugs or just the general atmosphere of the festival.
I don't want to go into too much detail here as I'd rather work it out with a prospective partner but it can go either very dark including non/dub-con or it could be that she is the one that comes hard for me, perhaps wants a RV to spend the festival with and views my needs as payment for it.
15 - Daughter's slutty friend - I'm looking for someone to play my daughter's slutty friend. Over the years you've gotten more and more flirty. Teasing me whenever you're over to our house or sleeping over on the weekend.
Few years pass and I get a divorce. You are staying over with my daughter and decide now's when you're going to make a run at me. Even packing something extra fun to wear when you sneak into my room later that night.
If choosing to go long term this can either be an affair or a long term sneaking around behind my daughter's back.
16- Obsessed with finding a BBC - I'm looking for a partner who wants to play a very petite woman who is absolutely obsessed with finding a BBC to see if she can take it.
Where you find me we can discuss, either a club, the gym or anywhere else you'd like. You come onto me and get me to take you home and I'm so excited to have such a tiny little thing to use I'm much rougher then you expected. Throwing you around like my own living fleshlight.
Today if you've read this far I'm really in the mood for a aggressive partner who comes for me for a change. If you want it to be a darker prompt perhaps she just wants to tease and I can't help myself once she gets me riled up.
Feel free to combine any of the above prompts if you'd like.
Only limits are bathroom play and animals. I am open to pretty much any kind of kink setup. Rough, Soft etc..
Please describe your character or include a reference picture. Please let me know what limits you have

2023.03.22 12:32 Tall_Strategy_2370 Admissions Accomplished: Updated - Part 1

Hi all, I ended up condensing this story a lot and I changed the trajectory of some of the students. I added a new student (Rachel) and took out another (Sarah). Hopefully you all liked this story! I took out some of the "fluff" scenes and decided just to focus on college stuff for the most part.
This is it *phew*. I had to split in two parts because Reddit has a 40k character limit.
Link for Part 2 below Reddit - Dive into anything
IntroductionEthan Green:
Julie Green:
Priya Rabinowitz:
Matthew Hernandez:
Rachel Lee:
David Anderson:
Minho Park:
Alicia Davis:
Alex Madrigal:
Taylor Chen:
Raj Singh:
Mary Sinclair:
Chapter 1: Beginning of Senior Year The crisp autumn air swirled around Green Hills High School, a prestigious public high school nestled in the suburbs of New York City. A sense of urgency and anticipation permeated the school, as the college admissions season had arrived. The pressures of academic achievement and looming deadlines weighed heavily on the shoulders of the senior class, who each bore their own unique dreams and aspirations. Among them were twelve students, each with distinct backgrounds and stories, all vying for a chance to secure a place at their dream colleges.
Ethan Green, an academically gifted slacker, found his once-promising future in jeopardy due to personal struggles and substance abuse. However, a stunning 1590 on the SATs breathed new life into his aspirations, rekindling his desire to attend the University of Chicago. With the unwavering support of his twin sister Julie, a straight-A student with a passion for music, Ethan began the arduous journey of repairing his tarnished transcript. Julie, on the other hand, had her heart set on Duke University, where she hoped to pursue a career in journalism.
Priya Rabinowitz, a brilliant, mixed-race overachiever, was the epitome of a perfect student. Her dream was to attend Brown University, driven by her passion for social justice. Despite her many accomplishments, she harbored a secret fear of not being "good enough." Her best friend, Rachel Lee, shared a similar sentiment, feeling inadequate in comparison to her academically perfect older brother Brian, and her high-achieving friend, Priya.
Matthew Hernandez, a top student with perfect grades and a near-perfect SAT score, dreamed of attending Harvard University, but his impoverished background made paying for college seem like an insurmountable challenge. At the same time, David Anderson, the school's star quarterback, yearned to attend Stanford and study business, but feared that his intelligence would be overshadowed by his athletic prowess.
Minho Park, a computer science prodigy who moved from South Korea at a young age, aimed to attend a prestigious school like MIT, Caltech, or Stanford. Alicia Davis, one of the few black students at Green Hills High School, aspired to attend Georgetown University and become a lawyer, her warm personality making her a natural confidante to her peers.
Alex Madrigal, another top student with a passion for math, science, and soccer, focused on getting into Stanford University. Meanwhile, Taylor Chen, a recently out nonbinary student, sought a college that would provide a safe and supportive environment for them to thrive.
Raj Singh, a senior at Green Hills High School who excelled in debate, hoped to attend Yale University. Lastly, Mary Sinclair, a talented artist who faced the pressures of being a double legacy at Brown University, worried that she may not truly be qualified for the prestigious institution.
As the college admissions season unfolded, these twelve seniors navigated the treacherous waters of self-discovery, friendship, and ambition, their journeys intertwining and shaping one another in ways they could never have imagined. The story of Green Hills High School's senior class was one of hope, heartache, and the relentless pursuit of dreams, all set against the backdrop of an unforgiving, competitive world.
Chapter 2: Applying Early The sun had barely risen on November 1st, the day when early college applications were due. A flurry of last-minute edits and double-checking consumed the lives of Green Hills High School's seniors as they prepared to submit their applications. The twelve friends, united by their dreams, sat together in the school library, each nervously finalizing their college applications.
Ethan, his heart pounding, reviewed his application one last time before hitting the submit button for Early Decision at the University of Chicago. He felt a mixture of excitement and trepidation as he considered the possibility of attending his dream school.
Julie, sitting beside her twin, took a deep breath and clicked submit on her Early Decision application to Duke University. She allowed herself a brief moment of relief, knowing she had poured her heart into her application and showcased her love for journalism.
Priya's hands trembled as she applied Early Decision to Brown University, her anxiety about being "good enough" momentarily set aside in the hope that her passion for social justice would shine through.
Rachel, her heart racing, sent off her Early Decision application to Columbia University, trying to shake off the pressure from her family and praying that her talents as a writer would be enough to secure her a spot at the prestigious institution.
Matthew, his jaw clenched, submitted his Restricted Early Action application to Harvard University, knowing that his future depended on receiving sufficient financial aid. He hoped that his stellar academic achievements would make it impossible for Harvard to turn him away.
David's eyes were filled with determination as he sent off his Restricted Early Action application to Stanford University, after completing his football tryouts. He hoped that the admissions officers would see his potential both on the field and in the classroom.
Minho, his fingers tapping anxiously, submitted his Early Action application to MIT. He had poured his heart into his computer science projects and was eager to showcase his passion and talent in his application.
Alicia, with a supportive smile from her friends, applied Early Action to Georgetown University. Her dream of becoming a lawyer seemed closer than ever as she hit the submit button, the pride she felt in herself evident in her eyes.
Alex, filled with anticipation, sent off his Restricted Early Action application to Stanford University. He knew that his academic achievements and passion for soccer had the potential to make him stand out in the competitive applicant pool.
Taylor, their hands shaking with nerves, applied Early Decision to Swarthmore College. They hoped that the accepting environment of the school would allow them to embrace their nonbinary identity and pursue their artistic passions.
Raj, his heart pounding, submitted his Restricted Early Action application to Yale University. He knew that his father would have been proud of his accomplishments, and he hoped that his debate skills and determination would be enough to secure a place at his dream school.
Mary, her face a mixture of hope and worry, applied Early Decision to Brown University. Despite her double legacy status, she longed to be admitted based on her own merits and her passion for art, rather than her family connections.
As the twelve friends hit the submit buttons on their applications, a collective sigh of relief filled the library. They had taken the first, crucial step in the college admissions process, their dreams laid bare for the admissions officers to see. The waiting game had begun, and their futures hung in the balance, but for now, they took solace in their shared journey, knowing that whatever the outcome, they had each other's support.
Chapter 3: Early Admissions Results
It was a chilly December evening when the early decision and early action results were released. The twelve friends gathered at Ethan and Julie's house, huddled around their laptops and phones, each waiting with bated breath for the email that would determine their future.
Ethan opened his email first, his eyes widening as he read the words, "Congratulations!" He had been accepted to the University of Chicago! The room erupted in cheers and applause as Julie hugged her twin, her pride in his accomplishment shining in her eyes.
Next, Julie nervously opened her own email, letting out a squeal of joy as she discovered that she had been accepted to Duke University. Her dream of studying journalism at the prestigious institution was now a reality, and her friends celebrated with her, sharing in her happiness.
Priya's hands shook as she opened her email from Brown University, only to find that she had been deferred. Her heart sank, and she tried to mask her disappointment with a smile. Rachel, whose application to Columbia University had been rejected, wrapped an arm around her friend, offering silent support.
Matthew's face fell as he read that his application to Harvard had also been deferred. He fought back the fear that his family's financial situation might prevent him from attending his dream school, even if he were ultimately accepted.
David beamed with pride as he announced that he had been accepted to Stanford University to play football. His friends cheered for him, although Alex couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy, knowing he was more academically qualified. Alex's own email from Stanford revealed that he had been deferred, causing the disappointment to settle heavier in his heart.
Minho's face lit up with joy as he discovered that he had been accepted to MIT. His friends congratulated him, knowing that his hard work and dedication to computer science had paid off. Alicia, too, had reason to celebrate, as she was accepted to Georgetown University, one step closer to her dream of becoming a lawyer.
Taylor's heart raced as they opened their email from Swarthmore College, only to find that they had been deferred. They tried to remain hopeful, knowing that the college search was far from over.
Raj's face paled as he read that he had been rejected from Yale University. The disappointment stung, but his friends rallied around him, reminding him of his incredible accomplishments and assuring him that he would find the right college in the end.
Finally, Mary opened her email from Brown University and was met with the news of her acceptance. The room filled with cheers and congratulations, but Priya couldn't help feeling a twinge of jealousy. While Mary was a strong student, Priya's test scores and grades had been higher, and she knew that Mary's double legacy status had played a role in her acceptance.
As the evening came to an end, the twelve friends had experienced a roller coaster of emotions. Some had reason to celebrate, while others were met with disappointment, jealousy, or uncertainty. Despite the various outcomes, they knew that their friendship would remain steadfast. Together, they would continue to navigate the ups and downs of the college admissions process, their bonds only growing stronger as they faced an uncertain but hopeful future.
Chapter 4: A Few Random Scenes Before RD Decisions Income Brackets The twelve friends gathered at a local park on a sunny Saturday afternoon, enjoying each other's company as they picnicked and played games. As the sun began to dip in the sky, they sat on the grass in a circle, sharing their thoughts and experiences.
Alicia, ever the good listener, brought up a topic that they had all noticed but rarely discussed: their different income brackets. It was a sensitive subject, but Alicia felt that it was important for them to acknowledge and understand the unique challenges each of them faced.
Matthew, who came from a low-income family, hesitated before speaking up. "You know, sometimes it's really hard being one of the poorest students in our school. I've had to work a part-time job to help support my family, and that's meant less time for studying or extracurriculars." His friends nodded in sympathy, recognizing the additional pressure that Matthew faced in trying to balance his responsibilities.
Ethan, Julie, Minho, Alicia, and Taylor, who all came from middle-class families, shared their own struggles. "It's not always easy for us either," said Julie. "We may not have to worry as much about making ends meet, but we still feel the pressure to work hard and achieve our dreams without having a financial safety net to fall back on."
Priya, Rachel, David, Alex, and Raj, who were considered upper middle class, acknowledged the advantages they had but also shared their perspectives. "Sure, we have more resources," admitted Priya, "but it sometimes feels like there's an expectation for us to succeed no matter what. That pressure can be really overwhelming."
Mary, who came from an upper-class family, listened to her friends' experiences and nodded in understanding. "I know I'm fortunate," she said softly, "but it's not always easy being seen as the 'rich kid.' Sometimes people assume I don't have to work hard, or that I don't have my own problems. Money can't buy happiness, and it can't guarantee success either."
As the conversation continued, the friends found themselves opening up about their fears, insecurities, and the unique challenges they faced because of their different financial situations. They began to understand each other's perspectives more fully, realizing that no one had a perfect life, regardless of their income bracket.
The sun had almost set by the time the twelve friends decided to pack up and head home. As they walked together, they felt a renewed sense of unity and support. They knew that their friendship was more important than any financial differences, and they were grateful to have one another as they faced whatever challenges life had in store for them.
Ethan
The twelve friends were seated in the school library, working on a group project for their history class. Their task was to research and create a presentation on the American Revolution, and each student was responsible for a specific aspect of the project.
As they discussed their findings, Julie mentioned a piece of information that she couldn't quite recall. "I remember reading something about the Battle of Saratoga, but I can't remember the exact details," she admitted, frustrated.
Ethan, who had been quietly browsing through a book, glanced up and said, "Do you mean the fact that it was a turning point in the Revolutionary War because it convinced the French to support the American cause?"
Julie looked at him, surprised. "Yes, that's exactly it! How did you know?"
Ethan grinned sheepishly. "I saw it in one of the books we were using for research last week. I just happened to glance at the page, but it stuck in my head."
His friends exchanged glances, impressed by Ethan's uncanny ability to remember things he had only seen briefly. It was a talent they had all noticed before, but never really discussed.
Curious, Minho asked, "Ethan, do you have a photographic memory?"
Ethan shrugged. "I guess you could say that. I've always been able to remember things I've seen or read, even if it's just for a short moment. It's just something my brain does."
The group marveled at Ethan's unique skill, and they began to ask him questions about various historical events and figures. To their amazement, he was able to recall an incredible amount of information, often down to the exact page number where he had seen it.
As the group continued their project, they couldn't help but feel grateful for Ethan's extraordinary memory. His ability to retain and recall information made their research more efficient, and it quickly became clear that his talent would be a major asset in their project.
The friends were not only impressed by Ethan's photographic memory but also inspired by the way he used his gift to help the group. It was a reminder that each of them had their unique strengths, and when they worked together, there was no challenge they couldn't overcome.
Rachel The twelve friends had gathered at Priya's house for a relaxed weekend hangout. As they lounged in the living room, a pile of their old middle school yearbooks lay on the coffee table, stirring up nostalgic memories and laughter.
Raj picked up one of the yearbooks and flipped through the pages, pausing when he came across the "Creative Writing Club" section. He looked up at Rachel and said, "Hey, I remember you won a couple of writing contests back then. Are you still writing?"
Rachel blushed and nodded. "Yeah, I've been working on a few short stories recently."
Her friends exchanged glances, intrigued. "Would you mind sharing one with us?" Alicia asked gently, her eyes full of genuine interest.
With some hesitation, Rachel agreed and disappeared into her bag, retrieving a small notebook. Her friends gathered around her in anticipation as she flipped through the pages, searching for the story she wanted to share.
"Okay," Rachel said, taking a deep breath. "This one is called 'The Timekeeper's Daughter.'"
As she began to read, her friends listened intently. Rachel's words painted a vivid picture of a young girl named Lila, who lived in a world where time was a tangible currency. Lila's father was the town's Timekeeper, responsible for managing and distributing time to the citizens.
The story was filled with imaginative details and intricate descriptions that transported the friends into Lila's world. Rachel's writing was both elegant and engaging, seamlessly weaving together the threads of the plot as the story unfolded.
As Rachel's voice carried them through the emotional highs and lows of Lila's journey, her friends found themselves hanging onto every word. They felt the young girl's joy and sorrow, her determination and fear, and the ultimate resolution of her story.
When Rachel finally closed the notebook, the room was silent for a moment before it erupted into applause. Her friends marveled at the beauty of her storytelling, praising her extraordinary writing abilities.
"Rachel, that was incredible!" Julie exclaimed. "I felt like I was right there with Lila in that world. Your descriptions were so vivid, and the story was so unique and compelling."
"Yeah, you have a real gift," David added, his admiration evident in his voice. "You should consider writing a book someday."
Rachel blushed again, overwhelmed by their compliments. As her friends continued to praise her creative writing talents, she felt a newfound sense of confidence and determination to continue honing her craft.
For the twelve friends, the experience of listening to Rachel's story brought them closer together, as they were reminded once again of the diverse talents that each of them possessed. Together, they celebrated Rachel's extraordinary writing abilities and the unique gifts that each of them brought to their circle of friendship.
