Expect a fairly laid back wacky Spelljammer D&D experience set in a homebrew plane. We will be using a few homebrew mechanics on top of the standard D&D 5e rules system. I love to bring player actions to life, even during combat to help weave imagery in our minds. I tend to be pretty laid back in terms of allowing players to engage with the world however they wish, provided it does not impede on the fun of others at the virtual table. Will try to stick to the Rules as Written when possible, but plenty of opportunities to use the Rule of Cool.
PC romance between NPC's is allowed with a fade-to-black principle for any hard romance scenes. PC romance between PC's is typically not encouraged unless discussed beforehand and both parties consent. Evil characters are not encouraged but allowed provided they do not directly hinder the party.
Expect brief post session chats to discuss player feelings and iron out any issues during the session. If I notice a player issue I will speak with them privately to work it out, but will not hesitate in removing that person if they continue to be a problem for the table. Ensuring a welcoming, fun and positive atmosphere is an absolute must for my players.

So I just paid a bill for a storage unit. I have a monthly budget category for it that was funded for this month. But by paying for 3 months in advance I was able to get a 5% discount, so I took that offer and paid with my 0% interest credit card. This means the storage unit category is now overspent.
It’s a very tight month (very much YNAB broke) so I have no other category with spare money I can reassign to cover the overspend. But that’s fine, I understand at the end of the month that overspending will automatically convert to credit card debt. In the next 2 months I will assign the money I’d otherwise have spent on the storage to the credit card payment category instead.
But that means I’m stuck with the overspending warning which is highly irritating. Whenever there is an overspend normally I want jump straight in and reassign money to clear the warning straight away. But now I won’t know if other categories become overspent unless I regularly go in and check the overspent notice. As we’re still at the start of the month this is going to bug me for too long to bear.
So does anyone know of a way of hiding a specific overspent category warning? Or is my only option to reassign money from another savings builder or sinking fund category to the storage category to clear the overspend (I’d rather not do this if possible).

We had major storm damage to our house, and needed to replace our roof and siding. Insurance has been helpful, we found a contactor, their quote looked good at $24k. This was in late March, and the initial contact told me that the work would be done within six weeks.
We were happy, and paid the deposit at $9k in early April, all from insurance. We understood that we would pay the remainder of the quote after everything is done, because it's all being paid by our insurance.
We waited weeks without an update. I called maybe two times to ask for an update, since I wasn't getting anything. Then, one day without warning, they come at replace the roof - all in one day. That was fine, I get that scheduling is hard.
But now it's been almost ten weeks since we paid the deposit, and I've called every other week to ask about the siding. Every time, our project manager says, "I'm actually scheduling it right now!" and blows me off, essentially. (I would rather he just tell me, "we're behind - it'll be in a few weeks" than lie to me.)
Then, last night, we got an email with a "first draw" invoice for another $9k. We can't get this money from our insurance until they do their job and put our siding on.
I am at a loss for how to proceed. I don't want to be an asshole, but I'm also deeply irritated that this is taking so long, that the project manager won't just be straightforward with me, and now this invoice, when they have not completed the work. Is this normal? Am I right to be so irritated?

Since then I have transformed into someone and done things I’ve never thought I could accomplish. A few being, started doing brazilian jiu jitsu, got a $20,000 raise at work bc of taking more risks and stepping up. Going from 25% body fat to 15% and looking like a whole new person. Taught myself computer programming, reading a book a week, and started a dropshipping business as a side business. None of this would be possible as the old me who fapped 2-3x a day and told myself everytime this is it, I am done!
The technique and simple mindset reframe: Instead of focusing on nofap and the negatives that watching p*** and fapping cause to you, you need to reframe this to the massive benefits that semen retention give you!If all you think about all day is I am doing nofap I will not watch p*** you are relying solely on willpower and one bad trigger away from a relapse. Now take this reproach, instead of focusing on nofap, switch to “I am retaining my semen, every second I retain it I am getting more stronger and powerful and becoming the ultimate version of myself.”
If you play video games, you character will most of the time have a health bar and a special powers bar. Visualize it like this, every second you retain, you get stronger and your super power bar is charging and refilling. You can feel the energy and super powers coursing through you and you are becoming the ultimate version of yourself to conquer the world and walk your journey and conquest.Switch from focusing on the negatives of what happens when you fap and watch p*** to the BENEFITS YOU GAIN from retaining your semen.It makes it so much easier, again, to go throughout the day with this reframe thinking “I’m getting stronger and more powerful every second I retain.” vs Today I will not watch p*** and fap.
With this is mind, think about this, if I told you to close your eyes and don’t think of an elephant, what’s going to happen? You are going to think of an elephant. This is why the whole approach of “I’m not going to fap, I’m not going to fap, I’m not going to fap, I’m not going to watch p***” may not have worked for you.
Switch those thoughts to “I am retaining and getting stronger”. Visualize yourself mentally as your favorite video game character getting stronger and stronger to god mode!
HOW TO HANDLE URGES: Here’s a little trick that works for me. Think about your favorite battle scene you have seen in a movie, tv show or video game. (Lord of the rings, John Wick, The Matrix is for me, any awesome battle scene, etc.) When the hero of that movie/tv/video game was fighting in a battle, and he was completely overrun and it seemed he was going to be defeated. But then BAM! He went into god-mode found the strength and energy and completely destroyed the enemy.I like to think of that scene in the Matrix when neo is in the courtyard and all the bad guys are coming after him and he is just destroying them. Then they all jump on top of him and it seems he’s defeated. But atlast he blasts off into the sky and defeats them.
Or when I used to play assassins creed and I would just destroy a group of bad guys. Whatever scene gets you fired up, use this, visualize your bad thoughts and urges, they aren’t you they are trying to capture and take over your mind. But you are godmode you destroy them every time they try. THEY DO NOT STAND A CHANCE!
Think of your urges like this. They are the enemy and demons in your mind and you are the super hero, you unleash god-mode and you completely fuck them up slaying the enemy, completely destroying them. They keep coming at you but you default them in the most bad ass way you can visualize. And everytime you do this you get stronger and stronger, bc you are retaining and getting your super power bar up!
Your mind is the fortified castle, your urges and the puny enemy, who wants to so desperately take over it, but you are strong and powerful and you demolish them! The enemy (urges) are running to your kingdom. But you stay calm and strong at the front lines, sword in hand with your army behind you bc you know they don’t stand a chance. And as they approach you slay them down and completely fuck shit up!James Clear in Atomic Habits says this – “You don't need to quit smoking, you just need to return to being a non–smoker. You don't need to transform into a healthy person, you just need to return to being healthy.”To apply this to our situations: “You don’t need to quit p*** and masturbation, you just need to return to being a person who doesn’t do thatEasiest way is to change your identity. Nah, I just don’t do that, that was the old me.
Myself, I always need to understand the “why” to really buy into something so I recommend instead of reading, learning and watching videos about nofap, read about benefits of semen retention. It will open up a whole new mindset for you!Remember, the reframe, it is not today I not watch p*** I will not fap. It is, every second I retain I am becoming more powerful, unleashing god-mode to conquer my life and put destiny into my old hands. The old weak you has died off, you are now the hero of your life’s story. And for urges, visualize your favorite super hero, or bad ass character you love, slaying and demolishing your urges, making them beg to stop! And each time you do this you are becoming stronger and stronger and the ultimate version of yourself.

There is a lot of media that depicts the prison planet theory. Some people think that elites do this because they require some level of consent from us but I disagree. They might need our consent when we are in touch with our entirety but down here? I doubt it. In fact I’m hesitant towards ideas that suggest a grander conspiracy on Earth. I’ll try to lay out my ideas.
Depictions in media:
When I first started thinking about reincarnation I wondered how I might send a message to my future self to warn them of the cycle. Could “disclosure” simply be that very same thing? That our soul remembers enough subconsciously to put these ideas out to the masses through the genre of fiction? Fiction seeds minds without the controversy of the non-fiction label. It allows people to play with the ideas and spread it when they otherwise wouldn’t. If it wasn’t for fiction I wouldn’t be awakened to this path at all. I am extremely grateful for it and it’s why I’m not so quick to slap the maker’s mark of the “elites” on everything.
It could be done with the intention to discredit but I don’t see it. We already live in a materialistic world and these ideas are clearly dangerous to the system. It simply isn’t necessary, which brings me to my next point.
Involvement of elites:
I shy away from the concept of micromanagement by them. What sounds easier:
A.) To craft the incentives of your universe so people naturally work in your favor.
B) Micromanage a global population of billions by being deeply involved at every level of power.
If you play a video game the developer already knows the environment they created and what you’re likely to do. No more effort from them required. Put the player in a world where they have to trample over each other and they will. Humans are responsible for our acts here.
They’re parasites. Minimum effort, maximum returns. The more energy they spend manipulating the less profit they get to enjoy.
I’ll use a video game reference to explain: Mass Effect. The Reapers come and harvest the galaxy in cycles once it reaches a certain level. They even have indoctrination technology. So how do they pull it off? Do they infiltrate every level of galactic governments and puppet them around? No. They simply left some mass relays to be discovered, which formed the basis of technology and space travel in every society. Once they come back to harvest they seize these relays and punish their dependency. Minimum effort, maximum returns.
Let’s be honest with each other: If they had the immense level of power in our society like some believe, we wouldn’t be talking right now. Secret police would be at your door at the very least, but they’re not. We can find the truth in our media instead of it being censored. If they were our masters they wouldn’t need to take it easy on us, we’d just lose. A lot of views focus too much on the modern. It would’ve been easiest for them to enslave us at the very beginning of our history, not now. 300,000 years for them to do with us as they please yet here we are speaking freely.
Conclusion? The greatest trick they’ve ever pulled is getting us to come here. They aren’t physical, they can’t even directly partake in their own creation. They simply aren’t all that. Do some people communicate with the Archons and benefit from them? Probably. But again if they were all powerful the game would already be over. With every piece of media released the truth digs deeper into our psyche, never to be truly forgotten. It is a great triumph of the human spirit. Do not be so quick to dismiss them and credit our enemy, lest we play into their hands.

A place where a little song and moonshine shared around the fire might make your night, and a single piece of silver might save your life. You and your companions have been through the worst of it. Now you travel the mountains helping your neighbors with their troubles, discovering the secrets of the Deep Hollows, and holding back the dark of night. Welcome home, traveler, why don’t you stay for a spell?
The Shudder Mountains is a horror-fantasy setting based on Appalachian folklore and the Silver John stories by Manly Wade Wellman. It’s a sort of 1910’s era D&D with some limited firearms along with swords and magic. Monsters here are more akin to cryptids like Bigfoot or the Mothman than beholders and dragons. Your characters are monster hunters in the vein of Supernatural or The Witcher who wander from place to place in the mountains helping people with their problems and exploring dark and forbidden places.
I currently have 5 players, and I am looking to add another 1 for a weekly game Wednesday nights 8 pm – 11:30 pm EST. Please be able to show up every week and have a reliable internet connection. We play using a mix of Zoom and Discord with both audio and video. Encounter mix is typically 40% Combat / 30% Exploration / 30% Roleplaying, but we might go a little heavier on roleplaying in this one. Character death is on the table and could happen at any time as determined by player decisions and the dice. We’ll be using a dice bot in Discord and will not be using D&D Beyond. I’m looking for players age 25+, we’re LGBTQ-friendly, and new players are welcome.
We are currently 1 session into the campaign, halfway through the first adventure and had 2 players suddenly drop out. Looking to add 1 new player prior to our next session Wednesday June 14th so you can start the campaign with the other players. We are doing a 0-level Funnel adventure for character creation rolling 3d6 for attributes straight in order. If you’re not familiar with that, I’d be happy to explain it to you.

What happens when you mix alien tech with the kinds of people that implant chips into each other (Warning: needle, dot of blood)? Problems apparently.
Wait Who is Doing This?
So you remember the shows you'd watch as a kid (before it all became a little too real) where there'd be characters that were cyborgs or androids? Well, there's a group of people, who call themselves grinders, that want to make that a reality.
These grinders are diy body modification specialists who are doing things like undergoing experimental medical procedures and implanting themselves with RFID chips and magnets in order to become "more than human". It's a rather extreme method of biohacking, or do it yourself biology. I know it sounds like something that started after the Avengers, but this movement has been going on for a while. The first human safe RFID implant was actually in 2005!
It did become a lot more popular once superheroes came out though. The grinder community proudly claims Tony Stark as a member because of the arc reactor that was planted in his chest, although to my knowledge he has never acknowledged the community in any way.
Once the Avengers were revealed? Ho boy the community exploded. Here was tangible proof that human modification had real world possibilities. Captain America? Biohacking. The Hulk? Biohacking. There were even some people insisting that Black Widow and Hawkeye had to be biohacked because there was no way a normal person could do that.
Of course, the Avengers' creation coincided with lots of alien material raining from the sky...
The Drama Part 1
We all remember 2012 and the invasion, no need to rehash that whole thing. Now, most of the Chitauri tech was cleaned up by first responders and DODC, but the thing is when you have a massive battle over a major city, you're going to get debris spread out over and picked up before official sources can get to it. So suddenly, there was a lot of people who had their hands on genuine alien tech.
Of course, that meant that people looked at the Chitauri tech they had, looked at the Avengers and their body mods, put two and two together and decided that they were going to become transhuman by implanting themselves with alien material.
So here's the thing: despite what you may think, many grinders have a lot of genuine medical knowledge. Not all of them, or this post wouldn't exist, but a lot of grinders actually do know what they are doing. And an implant like that is (obviously!) not safe.
First, everything that goes into the body needs to be biocompatible. That means that if you stick something in your body, your body doesn't reject it. A pretty common example is ear piercings: your body either accepts the new jewelry and you're fine, or it doesn't and you get an infection. Or if the earring is not cleaned properly, then again, you get an infection.
Guess how many people properly cleaned their new alien tech?
Secondly, radiation? Energy leakage?? How are these things powered, and is that energy safe to be in a human body? Is the sample even complete enough to do anything? Or is it like a battery with the case cracked leaking toxic whatever?
Of course, to some people that just meant that maybe they'd get powers from the energy leakage...
Now, I do want to be clear: implanting with Chitauri tech was a fringe movement within an already fringe movement, and one that was highly criticized by the main movement as well. But there was enough people trying to do it that several of the top grinder forums had to put up banner warnings that discussing body moding with Chitauri tech was highly frowned upon and that it was incredibly unsafe.
I don't remember how long this phase of the drama lasted, but it was a while. However, after enough people posted horror stories and some frankly disturbing infection photos, even the thick headed wannabee figured out that sticking potentially unstable, unknown Chitauri material into your body was a bad idea.
As such, it appeared the drama was over. Until...
The Drama Part 2, the Hydra Bugaboo
Again, we all know what happened, no need to rehash it. The only thing you need to remember is that it was discovered that Hydra had kidnapped civilians for a variety of reasons.
On October 28th, 2014, a person under the username ChitHuGod (Chitauri-Human-God) logged on and posted in several grinder forums that he had been one of the people that had been kidnapped by Hydra. Why had he been kidnapped? Because he had somehow successfully implanted himself with Chitauri tech. He even had pictures of the implants.
The forums went nuts.
It was possible? It could be done!? You have to remember, the grinder community is full of people who believe in transhumanism, the movement to improve the human condition past human limitations. Something like this was straight out of their wildest dreams.
Speculation was rampant until a few days later, one eagle-eyed poster noted some signs of photoshop in the photos.
The house of cards collasped. ChitHuGod was bombarded with demands to explain, until he eventually deleted his account. The community as a whole was pissed.
The Aftermath
Once burned, twice shy. The grinder community as a whole learned their lesson with Chitauri tech, and frankly alien tech as a whole. Unless they fully understood it, it wasn't going in their bodies. I know at least one forum has a sticky thread explaining why, with examples, for newcomers.
Every once in a while a ChitHuGod copycat starts up claiming to have done something similar, but often they get very little attention and most delete their accounts soon after.
The community itself keeps growing, and with the increasing instability of the world it's getting fairly popular, albeit still fringe. And who knows? With all the crazy things that have happened lately, I wouldn't be surprised if one day someone did manage to turn a human into a Chitauri cyborg...

Hi all, I’m a new grad and just started an OR orientation. It’s in a big city at a level 1 pediatric hospital. On one hand I’m insanely thrilled because OR is what I’ve always wanted to do and I didn’t think I’d be able to get my foot in that door right out of nursing school. I hated most of my clinicals and would be miserable in a bedside role, and have heard job satisfaction is better in OR nurses. I’m also completely enchanted by surgery and think it’s the coolest thing ever.
I’m about a week into orientation and haven’t actually been in an OR yet but I’m starting to have my doubts. Our learning specialists keep warning us about having thick skin and not taking things personally because some of the staff and preceptors can be mean. I also feel even more incompetent and clueless than I did in semester one of nursing school. The learning curve and potential red flags of a toxic environment are really daunting to me right now. The burning shell of a downed helicopter was put out when its killer, the small but dangerous Mi-2 Hoplite landed next to it. The fires gathered temporary momentum from the wind, but it was not enough to stop the flames from flickering out. Once the rotors of the Hoplite spun to a halt, three men emerged from it. Vityukha, Felka and Sokolov met their Redemption friends and free stalker allies, with Dimka and Sevka joining the joyous crowd soon after. Cashier, the local trader, gave Sokolov his finest bottle of vodka as a gift of gratitude, while Yar promised to help fix the Valkyrie with Sokolov to its final state. Sokolov explained that when he had seen the hostile chopper, he had began working tirelessly to get the Valkyrie up into the air, because he feared that it would be the only thing stopping the enemy copter.
Everyone was in a relieved and celebratory mood, with the defeat of the two opposing forces now clear and most of the crew in good health. Still, Boris looked around him and saw tired, wounded men. Sanyok, Dimuha, Felka and the other Ukrainian Securite Service survivor besides Yvanova, Kovalev, were all out of the fight for some time. To add to that, Dimka was barely standing, having been wounded by Khan during the death throes of the UNISG. With Vityukha and Stitch in the same place, however, Boris was confident the men would be able to recover. Another matter was their gear. The weapons, armours and other miscellaneous gear all needed proper repair and maintenance, or they would cease to work altogether.
Yet all these wordly worries alone could have been a headache, but despite all the pats on the back and relieved clinking of bottles, Boris couldn't help but eye Strelok and Degtyarev mingling with their respective groups. It was a powder keg waiting to blow, and any minute now rest of the men would realize that they never dealt with the whole SSU-Redemption standoff. Boris was not at all surprised to see Dima realize this first, shooting a glance at Boris. Boris nodded to confirm that there was indeed going to be some sort of scuffle soon. He saw Dima turn towards Vityukha and Sevka, whispering something as he did. Boris had intentionally sought out this position, sitting between the free stalkers and Degtyarev's remaining men. Now, with Dima, Vityukha and Sevka ready to help him if things got ugly, Boris was more confident to be the arbitrator. And as it turned out, he did not need to wait long.
"Now that we have finally settled the matter with your many enemies, Strelok, it is time to come back to the fold. Come peacefully, and the higher-ups have promised you your position back, no questions asked. Otherwise we will be forced to drag you back there. I think this is enough evidence of just how much you're wanted by certain individuals and states, and that leaves us no choice but to keep you safe and under watch.", Colonel Degtyarev ordered, making the room go from rowdy and celebratory to dead silent in a second.
"How about fuck you?", Rogue noted, and Yvanova drew his weapon, prompting all non-wounded stalkers in the room to do the same.
"Careful, pig. We don't take kindly to jarheads here, and if all cops are bastards, secret service are doubly so. Holster that gun or face judgement, suka.", Uncle Yar ordered in turn.
"Yar, Rogue, others. Calm down. Let us hear what Strelok has to say first.", Boris bellowed, and the men lowered their guns a bit.
"I will not come. I am done with the Institute, I am done with the power-hungry cleptocrats running it, I am done with the needless oversight. I tried to warn you, that something was deeply wrong in the Zone, and none of your government agents listened. It was down to us Zone-dwellers to fix it once more. And now you not only have an expanded Zone in your hands, but an international fiasco and three dozen unnamed bodies to dispose of. This is not the kind of "protection" I wish to have.", Strelok replied in a calm tone.
"This is not a matter of preference. You are too valuable to the state, and to many actors, to be let run free. If our enemies were to capture you, there is no telling what would happen.", Degtyarev retaliated in turn.
"And yet, your enemies were just repulsed, decimated, reduced to corpses and ash. We won. I remain free, and it is clear that I have enough allies for the situation to remain so for the foreseeable future.", Strelok responded.
"UNISG may have failed, but they will return. So will Omega. The latter has spies all over the Zone, in every faction. It would take years to dig all of their locations up and finish them off. Years we most certainly do not have.", Degtyarev sighed.
"There are places in the Zone they do not know of. Places I can easily hide in. Believe me, if they are so hellbent of finding me, they can spend the rest of their lives doing so.", Strelok commented, and despite the outlandish claim, Boris believed him.
"Bullshit. You're lying.", Degtyarev scoffed.
"Normally I would have said the same, but me and my boys have entered so many areas with practically no stalker activity. Areas so long abandoned and unknown that it would literally take decades to fully explore. So I do believe that Strelok is correct. The Zone is vast, UNISG are newcomers with little experience with it and Omega seems to lack manpower, not exactly the forces to comb it all.", Boris noted.
"What makes you think Omega lacks manpower?", Yvanova questioned, and unexpectedly, Sanyok replied to him.
"We have seen them possess a helicopter and two squad's worth of men. They have highly advanced gear and expensive weapons, yet could only spare a squad's worth of men to achieve such a massive task? For UNISG, it was a necessity caused by their casualties, but Omega was well-established here. Yet they seem to rely on mercenaries outside the payroll of Dushman, which are a rare breed these days, and on espionage and infiltration tactics, which are not very manpower-intensive tasks. In short, they most likely would have to go through great lengths to gather enough men to search for Strelok, and even then we have seen that two squads of their seemingly elite troops failed in the task."
"Uh... You raise good points. Still, they did locate Strelok here, and almost got him in a surprise attack.", Degtyarev commented in turn.
"That was because my platoon sold the information to them. We knew Strelok was here because a talkative stalker happened by our camp, but he didn't share the location and we did not care too much at the time. When Serbin's men arrived, we sold information about the surrounding territory to them, and that piece of information as it now became valuable. Still, they had to comb the entire city to find him first.", Meeker interjected, his monotone voice rising over the bickering.
"So there you have it. Wherever Strelok goes, he will always have allies to support him if more kozyols show up.", Boris tried to conclude the whole conversation, but Degtyarev was still sceptical.
"Uh-huh. Weren't you supposed to be a neutral arbitrator now?", Degtyarev asked.
"Listen, I was a stalker, most people here are stalkers. We live by the Zone, and to some of us, this is home right now. Some, like Strelok, are inseparable from it. You can take him out of the Zone, but you can't take the Zone out of him. He will survive this place, and any urod who tries to go after him, or take his secrets to the grave. He may not use your methods to protect the current status quo in the Zone, but he will protect it all the same. So I find it pretty fucking hard to be a neutral entity when it's so blatantly obvious that what you both want is the same thing.", Boris explained, voice full of anger, leaving the room in silence for a minute.
"Damn.", Degtyarev said slowly.
"You're one of the few cops of the Zone I actually respect. Why? Because unlike most, you've got the heart of a stalker too. You realize that while the government wishes all stalkers to disappear, we are vital to this place. And we need it to survive, because many of us have no choice but to be here. That is why I have held on not shooting you and your two men here to solve this problem, because I know you can understand Strelok's point of view. So at least try to do that.", Boris continued, calming down slightly.
Degtyarev looked stupefied. He was controlling his expressions to mask it, but Boris could feel the wheels turning inside the colonel's head. His two surviving comrades looked at the man in anticipation, gripping their weapons, loyal to fight even a last stand here. Finally, Degtyarev breathed out, raised his chin and looked Strelok in the eye. Whatever wordless communication passed between them, the meaning of it missed Boris until the army man spoke once more.
"I understand his point. And I cannot, in good conscience, detain him or cause a firefight over his arrest. Years ago, I helped you, Strelok, leave the Zone, yet now you wish to return. I should not stand between you and the Zone, if it is your sincere wish. And not only that, you saved my life earlier during this battle, and that is something I cannot overlook. What do you two think, Yvanova and Kovalev?", Degtyarev asked, and the two men shared a silent look before Yvanova answered
"We lost good men to detain him, but never to them. They have always waited for us to escalate, and even when we were attacked, they supported us instead of turning on us. That alone tells me that they have no ill intentions, and are merely committed to the protection of their ally. If they are willing to face the wrath of SSU by fighting it, they are willing to do so for the other actors too. I trust them to keep the VIP safe, and seeing him in combat, I doubt we need to worry too much, sir."
"Hopefully so. Going forward, you will be dead to the Ukrainian state, Strelok. I will mark in my report that you were killed by Omega agents during the battle, and that will be it. Keep yourself hidden, and do not let yourself get captured alive. Godspeed, old friend.", Degtyarev ordered, and the legendary stalker observing him nodded in agreement.
"There is a place up north not many people know of, where an old adversary of mine has retired to. I will go there, to be at peace for once. But Colonel. Remember that the Zone doesn't quite belong to the state either.", Strelok said mysteriously and nodded to his men to signal that it was time to leave.
As Rogue, Stitch, Yakut and Kamaz began packing things up and buying supplies for the trip, Strelok nodded to Boris and Dima to follow him upstairs. Boris agreed, but first asked Degtyarev in turn to wait for a little while longer. The colonel seemed surprised, but seemed to oblige. Boris and Dima followed Strelok upstairs, and entered the same office they had met the man for the first time. Strelok sat on the table there, and grabbed something from one of the drawers. It was a small file, with a pendrive inside it and a stack of documents, which Boris discovered when Strelok handed it to him. He looked at the folder, then up to Strelok, and raised his eyebrow questioningly.
"That's a collection of, eh, notes, you could call them, that my friend made of the various factions and locations of the Zone. It's incomplete, as he left to pursue other stories for a while, but it should give you more than enough knowledge. I'm giving it to you because I believe Redemption to be able to help fight the good fight in the Zone. The pendrive has an upgrade in it, which will allow you to utilize more recent military images of the Zone. These will reveal many previously unknown locations to you, which Rogue added descriptions of. We still lack data on all possible points of interest in the Zone, but I know of only one group who possesses such and I have been unsuccessful in convincing them to give it up.", Strelok explained.
"But why give this to us? I am grateful, of course, but also confused.", Boris asked.
"As a gift of gratitude for helping me and my team survive. And also because I trust your men to use the knowledge well. Take it as a parting gift from me, for I doubt we will see each other again any time soon.", Strelok offered and reached out his hand.
"Good luck out there, Strelok. And if you ever need help storming the power plant, give us a ring.", Boris said and shook his hand.
"Or if you're in need of excellent comedy relief, come on down to Meadow.", Dima chimed in, and likewise shook Strelok's hand.
"We shall see. I may take you up on those offers, but not soon. Goodbye, you two. It has been a pleasure to work with you.", Strelok replied, and gave them a faint smile before leaving.
"That's the end of it, then. Damn. Never expected for us to live to see this happen.", Dima wondered out loud.
"Same here. It's been a long time coming, too.", Boris muttered, when somebody knocked on the door.
"Care if I come in now?", Degtyarev questioned.
"Yes, indeed. We need to talk about a certain trip I have been planning. Do you perhaps have any connections to Belarussian authorities?", Boris asked, and the colonel gave him a surprised look again.

FTM, due 12/25. :) I've been with my company for almost 6 years. I currently have intermittent FMLA on file for a lifelong condition. I sometimes miss work maybe once or twice a month at most for that, sometimes not even. I started the process of filing for it for pregnancy, due to my symptoms and if I have to miss work due to appointments. I've run in to a major issue because I've already missed 3 days of work due to nausea (I work a physical job where I'm unavailable by phone for sometimes hours), and my OBGYN's office apparently only filled my FMLA paperwork out to miss 1 day of work per month for any doctor's appointment. Absolutely nothing about symptoms. My absences currently aren't protected under FMLA and I'm running in to an issue with my company now. If I miss anymore work right now before the beginning of next month, I'll have to go to a meeting with management. We have an attendance policy unlike any other and are on a points system for missing work, unless it's a covered absence under FMLA, or something like funeral leave, jury duty, ETC. It's Friday at 8:30 AM, so I'll be calling at 9AM. Has anyone else run in to a problem like this? How could my OBGYN claim I'm only covered to miss 1 day of work when anything can happen with pregnancy/symptoms? I don't expect for it to be a crazy high number, but that just seems unreasonable. My pregnancy is also going to further exacerbate another chronic condition that I have that I currently don't even have FMLA paperwork for and years of working a physical job has caused. I've already been in touch with my union, but really no progress so far. I'm really considering taking all the leave I can before birth/after and just resigning at that point to be with my baby/boyfriend and figure something else out for income. Was just curious if anyone had any help or advice to offer.

EDIT: Thought I should add - The amount of stress and anxiety this has caused me is just AWFUL. I have an impeccable record at my company and have never had any disciplinary action/warnings/meetings, ETC. I've been so anxious that I can barely eat and none of this is any good for me/our baby. My company has really been no help, either. The leave of absence department didn't even say congrats or anything. I haven't told my direct supervisor as I don't see her on a daily basis, and I've been keeping it on the DL since I'm not showing yet. I'm pretty private at work and just don't want a lot of people knowing my business. Obviously when I'm showing, they'll know.

China and Russia are rejecting a U.S. offer to hold "Unconditional" nuclear arms control talks, a move that risks further fueling global proliferation.
U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan warned in a major address last Friday that the post-Cold War agreements guarding against global nuclear proliferation were fraying and invited Beijing and Moscow to resume direct discussions on the issue.
"We now stand at what our president would call an 'inflection point' in our nuclear stability and security," he said.
"China's nuclear strength is far from being on par with the U.S. and Russia. The time is not ready yet for [Beijing] to join the nuclear arms control negotiations proposed by some," Washington embassy spokesman Liu Pengyu said in a statement.
"China upholds a defensive nuclear policy. It has promised not to be the first to use nuclear weapons and has maintained nuclear strength at the minimum level for national security needs," Liu added.
Russian President Vladimir Putin's government also dismissed Sullivan's June 2 overture, warning that no engagement on arms control can occur while the U.S is pursuing a "Hostile" policy towards the Kremlin in Ukraine.

I have had windows 7 on my non work pc since 2012. It works perfectly fine and I go with the motto: "if it's not broken, why fix it".
That being said, the chrome and Edge browsers have explicitly started giving the warning that I need to update to windows 10 to be able to use their latest versions. Firefox has been kind so far in this regard, but I need at least one more browser for security reasons. Is there any that has continued to support Windows 7 up till now? Thanks!

I'm writing this in part to vent, but also to warn of a trivial mistake that very naturally cascaded to my patient's death.
30 years old MDS patient with splenomegaly crossing midline and hypersplenism going for emergency splenectomy.
Patient was generally cytopenic, low platelet, wbc and rbc counts, with documented AIHA.
Preop Hb around 9 g/dl, platelet 45
RSI, good peripheral lines but CVL nonetheless as an extra measure. Rt Radial Arterial Line as well for frequent sampling.
Nothing can go wrong...
Until I missed up the blood transfusion.
Another patient with the same second and third names and similar first name was supposed to undergo a colectomy later that day. I transfused the entire unit before realising.
I only realised this because, after the spleen was removed I requested a count of how many units we still have for this patient, and the number's didn't add up.
Frank and devastating AHTR.
Called for help.
Invasive blood pressure connected. Aggressive fluids and Lasix.
Massive transfusion protocol intiated.
Patient's Hb 3 g/dl. After 6 units of blood now 6 g /dl
Oximeter can't even read a pulse. ECG showing HR 130 BPM, BP 80/60 and falling. Heamturia.
Inotropes now in place.
Surgery can't close up the abdomen due to persistent oozing, DIC probably. Closed the abdomen over packs.
Patient admitted to ICU Intubated on Maximum Norepinephrine support.
In the ICU the patient was place on Max Epinephrine support along with Norepinephrine.
Passed on Later that afternoon.
Beyond the very obvious mistake.. several other mistakes that added salt to wound:
-Aggressive fluids should've been with Saline and not Ringer -At some point, crystaloids were connected using Blood transfusion kits, which is an absolute precipitant of DIC -Tetrastarch was used (senior staff decision), which was very questionable -Patient should've been placed on Hemodialysis in the ICU
The consensus of the investigation was that several other factors lead up to this and better blood products segregation will be practiced in the future. nevertheless.. this patient died directly by my actions.
This has been looming over me for a while now, I'm never careless, and I'm not bad at my job.. but still..someone died because of me.. so either I learn to live with it or quit this job entirely.

I am a person of color. I drive an expensive car. I live in a high cost of living area.
It’s important for me to mention these things because for all of my life, the people I know and associate with - plus the media that shows up on my feed - believe that people like me are targeted and mistreated by the police. They hate law enforcement. When I bought my car, people told me to be very careful because I would probably get pulled over and harassed. This isn’t to say that those types of things don’t happen. However, I have my own beliefs that I am:
Always treated fairly. The police are here to protect me. The police aren’t against me because I’m not a criminal.
I also have the belief that I NEVER get pulled over. I haven’t received any kind of traffic infraction in years.
So a few months ago, I picked up my morning coffee and started driving back home. As I approached a stop sign, I looked to my right and saw a cop parked by a commercial building. I wasn’t worried. I didn’t tense up. They were just doing their job, and I was minding my business.
Well, as I turned right onto the main road and drove past him, he turned on his lights and pulled me over.
WTFFFF?!!?! But I never get pulled over!!!! Lol
I could’ve gotten combative and aggressive. I could’ve seen him as my “enemy” and I could’ve made a scene and told him he was targeting me for XYZ reason. But those aren’t my beliefs.
He told me I didn’t fully stop at the stop sign, and I told him I thought that I did come to a complete stop, especially since I clearly saw his vehicle before I pulled up to the intersection. But either way, I gave him my info and he went back to his vehicle to do whatever.
So as I was waiting for him, I got a little bummed and told myself, “well, I guess I can’t say I don’t get pulled over anymore.” But what I was thinking didn’t even feel right. It didn’t align with my natural state, so my inner thoughts instantly shifted.
I started telling myself, “Okay, so what if he pulled me over? He’s not going to give me a ticket. I never get tickets EVER. This is just a 3D glitch. I’m not getting a ticket.”
I said this a few times, laughed at the 3D, sat back, and sipped my coffee lol I was so unbothered because I already knew what was going to happen.
Even as he walked back to my car with a piece of paper in his hand, I didn’t care. I knew I wasn’t going to get a ticket. He handed me the paper and it had statistics about the number of accidents we have in the city and why it’s important to drive safely. He let me go with just a warning.
I told my SP and a few other people what happened and they couldn’t believe that someone that looks like me only got a warning. Because in their realities, they believe people like us get pulled over and locked up “for any reason.”
A few things I learned from the situation:
It’s important to build up your beliefs. Start deciding how you want things to operate in your life right now. Get ahead of any thoughts that contradict your desire to live the life of your choosing.
The 3D is going to do whatever the hell it wants. It’s your job to observe it but not let it affect you. My beliefs about police were so solid that I was able to laugh at the 3D. The circumstances couldn’t even bother me.

Hello, my wife is physically abusive to me in front of our five-year-old daughter. I have a condition similar to rheumatoid arthritis so she can physically overpower me. My daughter has been the victim of this by, for example, stepping on shards from a wine glass my wife threw at me. My wife also throws my daughter's toys across the room in range in front of her, yells extremely lewd things at me in front of her, tells her I don't love her, yada yada. I don't want to describe everything, just: I need a divorce.
I have been romantically involved and financially supporting my Cambodian wife since 2007, when I was teaching English in Cambodia. The relationship basically started with a fling and her threatening suicide if I left. We did not initially marry but it would be considered common-law. This included a period when I returned to Canada to complete my Bachelor's.
We moved to Bangkok before my daughter's birth for the better health care, and because it was central for my regional work. We immediately applied for and received both Canadian and Cambodian citizenship for my daughter through the respective embassies.
Soon after, our years-long application for my partner's Canadian Residency was approved. We lived in BC from May 2019-Nov 2022. We got married soon after arriving (we are not married in Cambodia, a country that does not recognize foreign marriages). Her behavior steadily declined during that time. As I believe that abuse toward a spouse is also abuse toward the child, I warned her I would call the police if she continued. She did, and I did. The police asked if I wanted to press charges, I didn't, but CPS got involved, interviewed friends and neighbors, etc. In the end, the agent told me to get divorced from this woman.
So I had a first consultation with a lawyer. On the one hand, he said I could probably win full custody, but that would be cruel to keep them completely separate, and I agreed. On the other, he pointed out I'm between a rock and a hard place, because since we've been together for so long I'd be on the hook for spousal financial support. I was a consultant at the time and was barely treading water, and just couldn't take the final step.
I am now ready to take that final step. I have a new regional (ie Asia)-level job with a steady income. I am seeing a counsellor and see that I can move forward. The problem is, since I had to return to Asia for this job (we had a choice of countries but chose Cambodia of course), I'm now under a new legal system, and Cambodia typically gives full custody to the mother. I'm being warned by expat friends who've been in the same place that a lawyer here will just string the foreigner along, knowing he won't get custody in the end.
I would therefore like to get legal advice from the Canadian side, but don't know where to start. Can I please have guidance?

I kind of don't know what to genuinely do with myself. It's been approximately 3 months since that dreaded night and I've been lost, alone and completely heartbroken.
To put it simply, my partner of 5 years broke up with me on our year engagement anniversary. It came out of the blue with no warnings or visible intentions. She simply picked me up from a day out, had my bags packed in her car and ready to take me to the train station so I could go home. I was given flashcards with reasons as to why she wanted to end the relationship and she said to me that she didn't want to be with me any more and could no longer marry me. I asked if we could discuss it and we did at length. There was no negotiating with her. I asked if we could go to her house and discuss it with her mother. Again we did, and to my surprise her mother wanted nothing to do with the conversation - we always got on well which I found odd.
During our discussions, it was summarised that I was a controlling person, I didn't spend enough money on her, I was too obsessed with trying to build a life for us, her friends actively disliked me and her family believed I was a bigoted person. This all hit me like a bus as this never was communicated to me in any way whatsoever. I don't feel or believe that I am or was any of those things but those words among others have got me questioning the entire belief of who I really am now. I was also informed that she had doubts 3 months before we were engaged and had went along with my proposal as she got caught up in the excitement of planning a wedding.
It's a surreal feeling. That weekend as I previously discussed was our engagement anniversary weekend. We were trying wedding cake samples on the Friday night (the last part of our wedding to be booked) and this happens on the Saturday evening after we both spent the day with our respective friend groups. I had a full day out planned for the Sunday which we had both agreed we would celebrate together as our anniversary celebration. I feel entirely broken. On the Sunday, I was going to say to her on the walk I had planned I was ready to start a family with her, I had a house lined up for us to buy and that I would be open to her idea of a previously discussed elopement if that's what she really wanted. I gave my entire heart, mind, body and soul to her. I was completely committed and bonded to her.
After the break-up, she apologised for hurting me. I did the same although not knowing how exactly I did. There was no actual direct reasoning closure. Her speech previously kept going back and forth with no real context or foundation when I queried. Everything was fine for the first couple days (well... As fine as it could be) then, libellous implications started appearing on her social stories. This upset me greatly as the picture being painted was not a true representation of myself. Eventually I was 'blocked' (prevented from seeing stories and posts, unfriended - but still showing as a contact) and then mutual friends were messaging me with posts saying how cruel it was that she was doing this. Coincidentally, the 'block' occurred on the night I was out with my longest acquaintance celebrating a new job and I was tagged on her socials.
This kept continuing and still is ongoing. I am hurting myself more and more and more but my stubbornness, pride and my desire to get back together is preventing me from blocking her even though from everything on her side, my existence has pretty much been erased. It's difficult to admit but I still love her and still would do anything for her.
Then of course, the wind changed this week. I messaged a mutual friend via her story over a food product I had saw. The friend becomes unusually chatty and starts asking about my life which she has never done in my 5 years of knowing her. I be honest and truthful but I notice the friend is only replying when my now ex-fiancée is online too and the conversation keeps getting more personal. I keep the conversation going (it was just nice to talk to someone) then the friend sends 2 screenshots of our conversation to me, then immediately unsends them... I was immediately ghosted in the conversation and both women go offline instantly. Is my ex now asking about me? Is there still hope? All this flood of emotion comes back to me. I don't know what to think.
It is tough to know what to do. Physiologically, I have not felt warmth in 3 months. I can't even feel the sunlight on my skin. My hair has been falling out and is beginning to lighten and turn a very light grey. I have a constant unease in my stomach, a crushing feeling in my chest and my muscles are tight and regularly spasm. Mentally I am a wreck, some days are of course better than others but I feel a continual need to cry. I have sought medical advice and have been told I'm experiencing what they term as a 'living bereavement' and have been told my body is currently in a constant state of flight-or-flight and the only healer will be time. I've been advised also that I need to seek an emotional trauma psychologist/therapist/counsellor - I am extremely afraid of this in case it changes who I am completely.
Ultimately though I just do not understand what lead to all this. She had told me that there was a guy recently who had revealed romantic intentions for her in addition to that she used to romantically like a best-friend. Was there maybe a meet-up in which she was curious and cheated? Did she feel our spark was lost? Did I just utterly fail and let her down? I will never know the answer. All I do know is that she is having a great time without me. I have tried to move on via dating apps but there has been no success. I miss chatting and conversation - the companionship. That though did more damage than good as when I inevitably encountered her profile, I found a picture from our engagement day as a profile pic, and our plans for the summer she wanted to do as activities with other men.

I know that one day the sun WILL shine again but for now I belong to the depths of the abyss. Journaling isn't working, exercise isn't working, the new job isn't working - nothing is working. What can I do? One thing I do know however is that I'm happy and at peace that she is happy and has moved on. Despite her coldness to me, I wish her well and don't resent her. I'm glad when I see her photos, she is smiling.

After 11 years, I (late 20's) was blocked by my "best" friend--"Lucy" (F, early 30's, single, childfree, a theater kid). My borderline personality disorder and her being my "BPD favorite person" made this friendship toxic, and sadly the reason I stayed so long. I tried to be as great of a friend as I could, but she would seem aloof, so I would give her more attention--then when I gave up and pulled away, she would appear to give me more attention, even asking me if I was mad at her when I wasn't. I know I played a part in it too--sometimes when I'm hurt I can get really sarcastic and shut down for a few weeks, and through my teens and mid-20's I battled with depression and anxiety. We met at church when her parents moved to lead the church I used to attend. The beginning of our friendship formed on hating where we live, and unfortunately I was a chronic complainer for the first 4ish years (I was only a senior in high school and she just graduated college, with a 4-year age gap). I did not know I had BPD until this past December.
BACKGROUND: She's an evangelical pastor's kid who moved states quite a bit: struggled with anxiety, depression, and avoidance, but also wildly entertaining when she was in a good headspace. From the start she would often change plans at the last minute to help her family at that convenient time, or she felt sick. I usually had to reschedule. A few times she forgot about me and would leave me waiting for 30 minutes, even after reminders, then have to cancel. The times she did make it, she was typically late. I understand depression and anxiety causes people to withdraw--I struggle with it as well--but it never seemed like my help was ever helpful when I tried to give it.
In 2020 I tried to behave less intensely and eased off a bit. When she got Covid, I made her soup from scratch and delivered it with a few containers of tea. I noticed during the years she would "get deeper in her faith" or the months I would communicate less, she would try to pull me back in and try to kick up the friendship again. She seemed to care more when celebrities or Youtubers passed away than actually hurting the feelings people she knew personally, but I guess that comes with detachment.
May 2022, she moved back to the Midwest so her family could be at the church there and she could get into theater. I cooked dinner for her the week before she left. She did FaceTime me a month later (on her own, for the first time!) to show me her house, but didn't warn me, and it was while I was having lunch with a coworker. We didn't text again until Thanksgiving, but it was brief.
On December 2022, I discovered that I have Borderline Personality Disorder after my meltdowns with others were getting frequent. I got a diagnosis and going through therapy. I never really poured my heart out to Lucy as much as I reached adulthood because she was always pretty detached, but I felt like she should know why I used to be so clingy with her and aloof the next. I was actively starting to research ways to remedy it. Her response--"That's great! Something we can work towards praying about." I was put off by the generic response, so I said "I guess that's all we can do." Silence for a while, which was normal--I could count on my hands the times she initiated any text.
End of March was her birthday, so I sent her a text. No response. Sent her a birthday video, a bit drunk since I got upset over seeing my ex flaunting a new relationship through a mutual (my mistake). She left me on read for a few days while liking posts on Instagram, so I sent her a text apologizing for clearly not being the friend she needed or wanted. She blocked my number. A few days later I insisted and asked her on Instagram if our friendship meant anything, or if we were only friends because I had something to offer. She blocked me on Instagram and Facebook. So there was my answer--without explanation.
I cried over it for about three days, could not sleep, and luckily had a session with my therapist on the third day. He asked me if I felt I needed to beg for my friendships. I told him I shouldn't have to. We talked about it and worked on releasing the hurt and anger by talking myself through it.
Today I realized she unfollowed but didn't block my art account. Still spiteful, I did the stupid thing and told her she should get a trophy for her acting skills of convincing me our friendship mattered. I told her she could have been a proper friend and actually said something before blocking me. Told her off for being so dismissive when I was just expressing my feelings, and yes...I did block her on that account. If she did it the first time, she would do it again.
Maybe there could have been hope. Perhaps she was waiting until she felt she could talk to me, and perhaps I could have been less emotional and direct. Maybe I should have called her, and I shouldn't have been so petty with having the last say and final block. Knowing her personality and her level of maturity--the ability to handle uncomfortable situations--I highly doubt she will. If she does, well she can unblock my number and text me. If she's such a Christian, she can learn to forgive and talk it through like an actual goddamn friend. For now, I will focus on the people around me who actually reciprocate my friendship, keep me grounded, and are helping me to heal.
TL://DR: "BFF" of 11 years blocked me on all formats because she couldn't handle me confronting our friendship after she moved. I tolerated years of this goddamn codependent relationship. It seems like my therapy is half-working, seeing as although I'm still mad, I still do care for her and miss her--I don't hate her like others I started seeing as "villains" because of BPD. At the same time, just...no thank you. Sometimes I wish I never carried on with it for so long.
Edit: This isn't the first thing something like this happened to her. About 5 years ago she posted anti-trans agenda on her facebook and her LGBTQ+ friends/allies lashed back. Probably worse than I did. She was really broken up about it...crying about it during a testimony she gave at church, saying they all blocked her and she apparently lost her friends. Yet, she turned around and did the exact same to someone who she hurt repeatedly. We all cared about her. She's just self-centered.

LONDON, June 8 - House prices in Britain are likely to fall 10% over the next two years and a more severe downturn in the housing market could trigger a lengthy recession, credit ratings agency Moody's said on Thursday.
Unexpectedly strong British inflation data last month sparked a big jump in market interest rates as investors scrambled to price in more increases in borrowing costs from the Bank of England in coming months.
Interest rates offered by mortgage lenders have soared in response and are now far above 5% for two-year deals, compared with rates of less than 3% only a year ago.
