2023.04.02 14:43 Odd-Independent-7105 Ticket Help

I bought tickets to the Denver show abt 2 months ago, and realized this morning that I forgot to accept them. StubHub shows a link for the tickets in my account when I log in, so it looked like I have them, but when I click on them it just says “Get Tickets”. I think the email from the seller to claim tickets was auto deleted, so I can’t recover it at all. What do I do?

I live in Bolivia/Canada/Costa Rica/USA, why are you posting on a Saturday?!
Because I'm writing this from Europe in the future where it's already Sunday. Timezones be crazy.
Why are there a bunch of non-board games in the board game list?
Because the Tabletop games category on Kickstarter includes anything remotely related to board games and sometimes things slip through my filters.
Why is this future award winning board game and literal saviour of humanity missing from your list?
Sometimes my filters get a bit overzealous and discard actually valid projects. If you feel something is missing for this reason, leave a comment and I'll add it (maybe).
Can I donate all my money to you?
Can you help me promote my game?
Please no. I make lists. Nothing more.
Your list is full of errors and now my printer is out of cyan and won't print!
Indeed, this fine piece of code runs purely on thoughts and prayers, so anything can happen. Leave a comment and I'll see what I can do.

2023.04.02 13:53 MesterenR I can't click Merchant-Prince Damaskus after having completed the story

I killed Arimahn (or however the hell that is spelled) And now I have to click Damaskus to continue, but the game won't let me. It is like he hasn't got a hit-box to click.
He has the star indicating he is the next point in the quest line, but I just can't click him.
In fact the only things in the city plaza that I can click is my stash and Zanafer (the gem smith). The rest of the traders in the square doesn't even seem to be there, and the mission table is gone too.
Does anyone know of a fix to this. I can't progress now, and the entire game is just stalled (at least for that character).

2023.04.02 13:37 JeppeAnd How to contact SMITE support?

I’ve been trying to find any way to contact SMITE support, but I can’t seem to find an email or any online support portal - I’ve even been to page 3 of a Google search (clearly shows the dedication once you’re that deep).
I can only find their official website which provides commons answers to support related questions; but no way to actually contact them regarding something not mentioned in their general answers.
In the SMITE game itself I want to buy 8000 gems due to the gem sale; and the price is being advertised as 53 EUR (I’m from the EU) - but whenever I press the button, I’m being forwarded to nexus where they’ll only sell them for 67 USD. Due to the currency exchange rate, that’s a difference in price at around 10 USD.
So I’d like to send in a support ticket, asking how to buy the gems for the advertised price.
I have tried to write [email protected] but I’m being told that I no longer is useable.
I hope someone here might be able to point me in the right direction.
I wish you all an awesome day!

2023.04.02 13:33 bakedrefriedbeans If you wont be getting GB Cena to 6SB, which PH is best to take to 5SB? Otis AA. Ridge. or Beth?

Upcoming talent kickoff is the prime time to make some upgrades to your roster and theres one I've been lingering on for a while. my Otis AA is primed to go to 5SB but without Rusev or the Titan skill plate I've been unsure since I already have WALTER at 5SS and he does the job well
There is VERY LITTLE chance i'll get GB Cena to 6SB and i see people saying that Ridge makes GB Cena a beast, but if you aren't 6 starring GB cena, is there any point taking Ridge up when i already have Otis ready? (Ridge is 4SB) Then this Month threw another wrench in the works, I wasn't sold on Beth at first but leveling her up, she started to show promise and at 5SB her Blast gem countdown is much more viable + she's my best Female PH (assuming i dont get Natalya)
So theres some conflict are they worth leveling up, or without the titan plate is there no point? and if i'm not getting 6SB GB Cena what "priority" would they be?

2023.04.02 13:23 GravyPaint Remains and Star Gems (guide)

What is the best use for star gems?
tl:dr : Small golden remains will give you many more common totems, and giant golden remains will give you about twice as many epics and legendaries. Both are good choices.
Feel free to link this guide when when someone asks.
The listed chances of obtaining totems are per totem, not per box. So the newly updated probability in giant golden remains (ggr) of 1.85% is for each totem. Since there are 10 totems in the box, you should get a legendary from about 18.5% of the ggr you open. In other words it's an average 1 every 5-6 boxes. (5.4)
In the case of golden remains, giant golden remains, and mysterious remains, the probabilities are adjusted to show an average. Each of these boxes has at least one totem that is guaranteed a minimum rarity that skews the calculation, but not the overall probabilities. In other words, the first totem in a ggr has an estimated 1/8 chance of being legendary, whereas the remaining 9 have about a 1/300 chance. The probability sheet simply accounts for this, and averages the chances for the box and then divides by the number of totems.
People commonly ask whether they should spend their star gems on ggr, sgr, or something else.
Spending your gems on sgr's will net you 3 times as many totems than if you were to spend them on ggr's. However you are more likely to get epic and legendary totems if you purchase ggr's.
As of the March 2023 update, If you had 3000 gems to spend on either ggr or sgr, here is what you could expect on average.
With 3000 gems spent on ggr you will get 100 totems. you should expect about 54 normal, 32 rare, 12 epic (11.9) and 2 legendary (1.85).
With 3000 gems spent on sgr you will get 300 totems. You should expect 231 normal, 62 rares, 6 epic (6.21) and 1 legendary (.96)
In my opinion, both options are worth consideration.
Alternative to buying ggr or sgr, you have the option to spend your star gems to open remains that you acquired while playing. The cost is 5 gems for every key you would have to spend. So a 3key box costs 15 gems to open.
So technically, you could spend 3000 gems on opening 3key boxes. For the following calculation I am making a guess that 15% of the time you will get 3 totems and the rest of the time the box yields only 2.
With 3000 gems spent to open 3key boxes you would get 430 totems. You would expect 340 normal, 81 rare (81.5) 7 epic (7.27), and 1 legendary (.99).
As you can see these rates are actually better than opening sgr's, but the cost would be that you have to grind out 200 additional 3 key remains. On the other hand, if you do ever find your start screen overburdened by remains boxes, you can toss gems at a few without worrying about wasting resources.

2023.04.02 13:15 jscott18597 My 3.21 EDC predictions.

Blight is a weird skill to scale with this build and always has been. You don't want cast speed for essence drain and contagion, but you need cast speed to get the most out of blight.
So good news bad news here. The bad news is blight duration went from 2.50 seconds to 2.00 seconds. That means we will need even more cast speed and duration to get the max number of stacks while pressing down blight. That is a pretty large nerf in top end blight damage with low gear (more on this later however!)
The good news is blight got a numbers buff, so assuming we can get our duration and cast speed high enough, blight is going to be doing more damage. It now deals 3.9 Base Chaos Damage per second at gem level 1 (previously 3.1), scaling up to 284 at gem level 20 (previously 257.4).
The really good news, we have an insane amount of (nearly) free cast speed coming at us. Firstly the caster mastery is pretty nuts for us. 6% cast speed for each spell you cast recently. I'm using essence drain1, contagion2, curse3, frost shield4, blight5. I'll post a boss video down below showing that I really do cast these spells constantly and getting the FREE 30% cast speed will be easy.
I'm convinced arcane surge changes is going to be a buff and I'm going to be using max level in my 6 link blight setup over quick affliction at least until mageblood. and again, cast speed you don't need to invest in very many nodes on the tree or gear is very very good for blight.
The reservation changes will be interesting to see. We can get the new 12% flat reservation mastery from a mana node no problem. I already get a mana node above witch so it's pretty free. I'll probably end up using small cluster jewels anyways (they really have been the best way to fix auras for the past few leagues anyways)
The final nerf is the withered notable going from 35% to 20%. This is a straight damage nerf, but I'm really not sure how much it will matter early on. I'm not going to be getting to 15 withered stacks with my withering step setup until i get a level 4 enhance along with anomalous withering step, both being pretty expensive early on. So we aren't going to be playing with a full set of withered stacks for a good while. Regardless, it's a nerf, but we have plenty of other damage buffs coming and it isn't like EDC was ever really about the damage anyways.
I'm 100% convinced EDC is one of the better league starters. I'm baffled why more people didn't pick it up last league, and I'm even more baffled that it continues to not be talked about at all.
Here are a few videos from last league. All this is pretty early in the league and although my gear is good, I didn't have mageblood or anything. (t16 map EDC is as fast of a mapper as ever) (more t16 mapping action) (530 depth aul. 40% chaos resist mod. Facetanked all abilities except slams which I most likely could still face tank) (for all you that seem to think EDC can't do bosses) (gear I ended the character on, gear isn't perfectly min maxed, this is a starter and I didn't play it more than week 2 or so)
EDIT: Forgot to mention this build got to 600 depth on day 6 of last league and I was the 4th person to get to that depth.

Finally got to my very 1st gem, rock, fossil show.. not impressed at all...
I went to Pitts gem, rock fossil show yesterday that was mixed w/the home show-Free admission this yr. I was so excited! I have a 4wk litter of pups, so I get them all sorted as early as I could. I had to run to Tractor Supply for pine pellets for litter, got momma sorted so she could tend to them and get time away without my help while Id be gone a few hrs. Yeah... maybe it was just small due to sharing space but, the only specimen samples were that exactly. Tiny little samples. 🤨 So Overpriced for most stuff! Omg. A 3" Amethyst skull was $300!! I've paid way less for 5" Skulls of far better quality material & carving I did however get a few things I needed and some I didnt know I needed. But I still believe I overpaid.. Captions on pics has price & type of material. What do ya'll think on prices please?

2023.04.02 12:47 Screamingartist Why does no one talk about this??

No one really talks about this but everytime I think about it, it makes me angry on stevens behalf.
This is from steven and Connies fight ehen steven comes back from literally sacrificing himself for connie, the gems and all the humans aquamarine and Topaz tried to kidnap. He literally could have died, and was basically tortured emotionally and connie was angry??? And so was Lion???
She literally stole his MOMS SWORD and his MAGIC LION, his PET. It literally makes me so upset, not to mention it complegoes again lion comforting steven earler in the episode, After Steven came through his mane. It just makes me so angry.
Like, Connie??? You can be a little upset that he left, since like he could have died and stuff, but oh my GOD Connie, be happy he didnt die, or something...
And lion being angry at steven didnt make any sense to me, either... Why was he angry? After he was comforting him???
The show has its flaws but this episode is on one of the main reasons i want to rewrite it, like thiss epissode makes me so upset... and ANGRY!

2023.04.02 12:15 phantomroguegalaxy 23 f (US) The art of making good, solid, long term friends online seems almost non-existent on here

Significant note: Please only message me if you're 21+ years old and from the U.S ONLY (due to the difference in timezones past 3 hours (PST) and I would like to hopefully meet up one day) no minors. I'm not interested in NSFW, drugs, alcohol, or politics either so please don't contact me if you like those things
It seems everytime I make a post the majority commenting are people interested heavily in nsfw DESPITE THE FACT I put in all bolded words in every single one of my posts do not contact me if you're into that BS. Stop being creepy in the freaking comments and especially in the DMs. I can tell people's friend making skills have absolutely diminished. I see more and more copy pasted comments and dms than I see original fking written responses. I'm not interested in chatting with you if you don't even want to spend a little time being original with me and actually showing me you're serious in a long term friendship. Cuz honestly? This isn't the funny business. A lot of us don't have access or are even able to make friends irl, so we have to go to places like this in order to find a gem in the rough. I hate how far and few between most friend sūbs are on here. There's just not enough variety
Anyways enough about this shitey sūb and it's counterparts, hello! I frequent these sūbs a little too often in the hopes I'll find at least 1-3 people or so I can actually enjoy talking with throughout my days and nights. I always have a TON of free time on my hands and no one to spend it with (besides my bf). While I'm fine being alone and doing my own thing, it honestly gets boring and stale after a while. When I do fun things in my day I want to be able to share said things. When I find new music I wanna share my findings! Etc etc etc. So if you are also looking for that come on down!
I'm a caring, supportive, kind, considerate, and high energy typa person (most if not all the time) and I'm looking for people who have similar traits. I want to be able to feel what it's like to be in positive and uplifting friendships (cuz I'm tired of all the negativity we deal with on the daily). I'm down to have Spotify group sessions instead of sharing playlists with one another. I'd also be open to watching YouTube videos and/or shows + movies at times as well! I'm not looking for a gaming buddy other than for a lesser known battle royale (ask me if interested). I game on modded Vita, PC, (and soon to be PS5). Some of my fav games are the uncharted series, tomb raider, life is strange series, until dawn, evil within 2, the Witcher 3, crazy taxi, Spiderman shattered dimensions, sonic, Batman Arkham city, and many more! I recently watched the dungeons and dragons movie (despite not having any experience with it) and it was quite entertaining. Much better than anything marvel and DC have been releasing lately. So if you'd like to talk about that let's do it!
Lastly I'm going to mention a few more things about what I look for in a friendship. I'm someone who mirrors others and tries to reciprocate what I'm given. If the other person gives me nothing to work with I have no problem walking away because I feel like a lot of people on here enjoy wasting my time and others. I highly value meaningful/deep conversations rather than having lifeless, dull small talk. I love sending and receiving long messages so if you did too that would be great (not at all required tho). First impressions matter so if you aren't coming in swinging like donkey Kong in my DMs with the effort then what's the point exactly?? I feel like there's not enough excitement when two people meet in these sūbs and that seriously needs to change!
For more info about me, I highly suggest referring to other posts I've made! Thanks so much for reading and I hope to see you in my DMs :D

2023.04.02 11:42 YamiJanp March - Fishing can be scary [13/25]

Not much happened in March. I slowly finished Divinity: Original Sin 2, which I enjoyed and then started several games at once. I barely touched Xenoblade Chronicles 3, then started Monster Crown, but didn't like it, I played like 3 levels from Heidi: The Game for GBA (don't ask), made a tiny progress in Final Fantasy 2, started Pathfinder: Kingmaker and I also played quite a lot of Hero's Hour. I decided to check the game as finished when a) the main story is finished or b) I play finish every map/mode in a game without story. Hero's Hour has no story mode. So, it will take me much longer than I expected. I hoped it will be short in and out strategy game. I'm almost done with the game now, I still have like 4 maps to win. Oh and I got awesome idea to make a "themed night" and played several games with horror-fishing theme on They were fun. I think I'll do something similar again with different theme. As always beware of spoilers. Now, let's talk about these games...
First, let's talk about the rabbit hole of Horror Fishing. Several Game Jams with this theme took place in the last few years. I hand-picked 4 games that looked interesting for me, played them and ranked them afterwards. Here are the games and my thoughts on them. Since all of them took me about 10 minutes to finish each and I didn't really measured the proper time, I don't mention time for each game separately:
A Wonderful Day for Fishing
The first game that got me to the genre, but to be honest, it wasn't really that great in comparison to the rest of the games in this post. It's a cool concept. You're fishing progressively weirder and weirder fishes, which you can either eat or release. I don't think releasing them does anything at all. Eating them sometimes gives you weird effect like your eyes being replaced by dark voids, your mouth growing big and so on, but I rarely got these effects and when they appeared, they only made me giggle a little bit by how comical they were. I spent the most time in this game, because it has no ending, which I had no idea about. So I kept fishing, even getting all different fish and waited for something to happed. It also didn't help that the gameplay is not that engaging. You're just waiting for a prompt to appear, look at a fish, read its desription and then either eat it or release it.
Overall, I think this game shows really cool idea that could be worked into a great horror game. But as it is right now, it was pretty weak. 6.5/10.
The Thing in The Lake
Suprisingly wholesome horror game. I liked the minimalistic art style and colour palette. It' short, I think I got both endings (which require playing the game twice) in about 5 minutes in total. There is no fishing mechanic, which si understandable with how the game presents itself. The writing is okay and especially the ending is somewhat surprising, wholesome from one perspective, but quite creepy in the other.
Overall, it was the second game I've played on the themed night and it was great after the not-so-good start. But it falls behind the rest games in this post. 7/10.
This game made me laugh so much at the end. I know it's a horror game, but the ending was just so unexpected and... actually original. The game itself once again took me about 5 minutes to beat. I enjoyed the PS1 aesthetics. The fishing part was simple - you cjust click a mouse and wait. This was also the first game, in which I was feeling uneasy and had to check my (in-game) surroundings every time I got a fish to make sure nothing is creeping up on me. And even after this, the ending came unexpected and actually made me jump a little bit.
Overall, the third game and the bar went up once again. And once again, I wish this was made into bigger game. 7.5/10.
Another PS1-like game and the one that is probably the most complete and offers the most content. It offers so much content that I managed to completely break it. The moment I started playing, I wanted to test how controls work and somehow opened a secret area. I was taken by surprise, but continued on and after few minutes of exploring, I unlocked a true ending. You can imagine how confused I was. So, I started the game again and accidentally opened another secret area. I unlocked another 2 endings in this area. And only on my third attempt, I actually got to the "main" storyline and the fishing. And it was fun. The fishing minigame worked well and I got quite good at it after a while. I don't know why, but some of the areas in the game reminded me of DUSK I've played earlier this year. The story was a little bit confusing, but that's probably on me for getting the information out of order. Also, I'm not sure how, but I missed the "final" jumpscares in 3 out of 5 endings. I was either looking somewhere else or didn't notice it at all until it was over.
Overall, this was the best game I've played during the themed night. It had the best fishing mechanic and the most horror elements in it. It also worked as a game and not just as a concept. 8/10.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 (BEWARE OF SPOILERS)
I was never a fan of CRPGs. I was afraid of them, when I was younger (and most of the famous CRPGs were new), because they felt too complex and hard for me. Last year, I've played Baldur's Gate and wasn't really a fan of it. It felt outdated, boring and nothing like people made me think CRPGs are supposed to be. So, it might be a huge surprise that I enjoyed Divinity and couldn't get enough of it to the point that I considered second playthrougth right after the first one.
The game reminded me of original Dragon's Age. Which is one of my favourite RPG of all time. Not just with the art style, but you could pick several different playable characters with different story beats and the story somehow reminded me of Grey Warden's journey. I picked Fane as my main character, which I think was the best decision I could have make. First, playing as undead added a whole new dimension to the game, with reverted healing and poisoning and the need to cover your face. Second, Fane's story was the most interesting out of all available characters' stories. Most of them were just a variation of "you're X and your goal is to kill Y" motivation. Fane's story was nice change. And it ties nicely to the main story. I also decided to do a small challenge and played solo, instead of in a group. This made a game even more enjoyable for me. There was small difficulty spike at the final location, but I still managed to solo the game.
The story was okay. I was never fan of "chosen one" storylines, but this was somehow manageable. And it makes sense for the most time. I didn't like the huge story exposition at the end, which was made worse by my choice to play as Fane. Also, I think Lucian's plan made no sense. He faked his death and locked himself in a tomb made out of material that blocks magic so gods can't find him, yet he's able to use magic to drain gods' power. And why did he fake his death anyway? He's popular and quite a few people don't like gods anyway. The ending felt rushed. Which is a shame, because it left a sour taste in my mouth.
I was glad there was turn-based battle system. One problem I had with original Baldur's Gate was early game combat. It took so much time to hit something. Divinity solved this problem and made the whole combat feel more like D&D. The amount of skills felt overwhelming to the point that I had to check some builds to get an idea on how to build my Fane. In the end, I went with 2H weapons and bunch of Warfare and Polymorph skills that gave me bunch of options to quickly move around the battlefield and deal damage to more enemies at once. And I got Barbar tag later in the game, which had no effect on battles, it just added more flavour to my build. When I got to Arx, this strategy wasn't enough. I had to find better strategy. And found out some Necromancy spells scaled with my stats and dealt physical damage. And it had one of the best AoE spells in the whole game.
Overall, I enjoyed this game more than I expected. And I mean it. It easily got to my RPG TOP10. And it made me consider buying Baldur's Gate 3 in August. 9.5/10.
I mixed up themes for March and April and played my April game in March. I wanted to also finish March theme on time and quickly picked up Hero's Hour in a hope it's a short game, but it backfired. So, I'll probably play both my original March game and Hero's Hour in April. Then, I'll try to clear a mess of several started games and will slowly start finishing them.

San Angelo Rodeo: Schedule, Format And What To Watch For
The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo features the top athletes across the PRCA competing in the final rodeo of the always crucial Texas Swing. San Angelo was first held in 1934 and has been going strong ever since. The rodeo, which is held in Foster Communications Coliseum on the San Angelo Fairgrounds will pay out over $690,000 to competitors.
The Format
San Angelo is a simple rodeo to follow. In Roughstock events, there is one Long Round where the 12 highest scores advance to the Finals. The Finals are a one-header where the championis crowned based on the two-head Average from the Finals and Long Round.
In timed events, there are two Long Rounds featuring the same athletes. The fastest on two-head advances to the Finals, where the winner is determined based off a three-head Average.

2023.04.02 11:13 KiraraChin A wonderful article about Kazuki Tomono

I translated it using DeepL for a different platform and decided to share it here too, for those who enjoyed his performances at the Worlds Championships. Here's the original link:
Why we are encouraged by Kazuki Tomono's fighting spirit. His "captivating" performance that had the audience on their feet, and his competitive spirit of "believing in himself".
Japan's first back-to-back championships won by Shoma Uno and Kaori Sakamoto. Rikuryu (Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara) became the first Japanese team to win the Grand Slam of the year. Furthermore, they became the first Japanese team to win all three categories. Kanadai (Kana Muramoto/Daisuke Takahashi) tied for Japan's highest ever ranking. The World Figure Skating Championships were full of records.
All the athletes, both domestic and international, shined in their own ways, but it was Kazuki Tomono who left an unforgettable sparkle in the hearts of all who saw his performance.
Despite some falls in both the Short Program (SP) and Free Skating (FS), he showed no signs of breakdowns, and placed 6th with his outstanding performance. Especially in FS, despite some mistakes, he marked 180.73 points, a new personal best. He made the packed Saitama Super Arena stand in awe of his performance.
He has now competed in 3 World Championships, and has recorded personal bests on all 3 occasions. What is the secret of his amazing strength in the competition? In order to tell you about Tomono's strength to live up to expectations, we would like to start by retracing his steps.
Never a promising athlete in his youth
Born in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture in 1998, Tomono began skating at the age of 4, but he was never a promising skater from the start. One of the proofs of this is the Nobeyama Training Camp. This was a training camp for novice skaters (9 to 12 years old as of July 1 of that year), both boys and girls, to gather promising skaters from all over the country, and the first group of students produced Shizuka Arakawa, a gold medalist at the Torino Olympics. Since then, world champions such as Daisuke Takahashi, Miki Ando, Mao Asada, and Yuzuru Hanyu have gone on to become world champions through this "Nobeyama Training Camp".
Current national team candidates such as Shoma Uno, Sota Yamamoto, Shun Sato, and Kao Miura have also experienced the Nobeyama Training Camp. However, Tomono has never participated in the Nobeyama training camp. In other words, he was not considered a future national team candidate at that time. In fact, as a junior, he was not selected for the Junior Grand Prix Series three years in a row. There was even one year when he went home feeling frustrated that he was the only one who failed out of all the competitors invited to the selection rounds.
Because the competitions are usually broadcast on terrestrial television, we tend to be under the illusion that we are watching figure skating, but the figure skating we are watching is an amateur sport. Most of the skaters are students and retire as soon as they graduate from college.
Tomono is also loved by skating fans for his unique programs such as "Japanese Doll" and "Fate of the Dog Officer," but the road to the top in Japan was difficult, and he revealed that he had planned to leave the competitive world after graduating from university.
However, in 2018, he placed 5th at her first World Championships. What was supposed to be just a student sport turned out to be the world's TOMONO. From here, Tomono's skating life changed at once.
The glory of "world No. 5" and the new conflict that emerged from it
However, as long as our dreams are far away, we do not experience the frustration of missing them. It is precisely because it seems out of reach and out of grasp that we become disenchanted with our own powerlessness and devastated by the two words "talent. After achieving the glory of "5th in the world," Tomono's competitive life was a battle against another kind of pressure.
After that, he trained hard to get back on the world stage, but he was unable to show his ability in the competition and finished outside the podium every year at the All-Japan Championships. The only thing that weighed on him more and more was the fact that he was ranked 5th in the world. In addition, a new generation, including Yuma Kagiyama, who later became a silver medalist at the Beijing Olympics, emerged, and the fierce race for selection became more and more intense. Tomono was always surrounded by first-rate talent.
And that seems to be where Tomono's conflict lay.
Uno, his classmate, has been called a "genius" since he was a Novice skater, and is a treasure of the skating world. Yamamoto, a rinkmate since childhood, was also considered a promising "star of the PyeongChang Olympics. The younger skaters, Kagiyama, Sato, and Miura, are such gems that they have been featured as "Kanto Three Crows" since they were still junior skaters. Of course, all of them have their own struggles and difficulties that cannot be described with superficial expressions, but they are exceptional in terms of the level of expectations. In contrast to these aces, I am just an ordinary skater. I have never experienced being a hopeful with high expectations. I have not come this far because I have special talent.
His openness to everyone is one of Tomono's virtues, but he is also a bit too gentle as a competitor, and is an entertainer at heart who professes that he does not like to fight. His many substitute appearances have paved the way for him, and he finds himself competing side by side with geniuses whom he thought were from a different world when he was a boy, but he is still somewhat unsure of his position in the world. I felt that such a weak heart, one more step, was clinging to Tomono's skating shoes.
This season's NHK Cup broke that spell.
Indeed, the result was not great, coming in 4th place. Uno, Yamamoto, and other rivals of the same generation were standing on the podium, but I could not bring home a medal. I wonder if he is still suffering from the same frustration that he felt at the Junior Grand Prix Series selection round. I felt that I was suffering from the same frustration that I had felt at the Junior Grand Prix Series selection round, and I was heartbroken. However, after the competition, Tomono's expression was clear.
He said, "I had been facing my weaknesses for a long time, and I thought it was time to let that go. After yesterday's match, I had a change in my mind, thinking that it was time for me to face my strength. Today was the first time I fully believed in my own strength and took on the challenge of facing my own strength.
Despite missing the podium, which had been his goal, Tomono never let out a negative or weak voice. Rather, he only looked forward. I felt a strength in him that I had never seen in Tomono before.
He faced his own strength, not his own weakness.
He won the representative battle, which was never in an advantageous position, and won the representative seat on his own. And then, he placed 6th in the World Championships in a magnificent performance, amidst the world's top skaters performing at their best. He himself commented on his "mysterious confidence," but I could no longer sense any sense of defeat or lack of confidence in Tomono, standing on the main rink of Saitama Super Arena. He believed in himself there, more than anyone else.
That is why, even if he fell down, he never lost his heart, never lost his passion, and skated what he could call his best. Unfortunately, he did not reach the medal, but without a doubt, he was the strongest Kazuki Tomono ever at that moment.
Behind those words was a break with himself, who had never been raised by the elite. It is true that my skating life may not have been what the adults expected of me. There may be many stars who are more talented than me. I believe that those who are in the world of competitions have to suffer in ways that we cannot even imagine.
But I am standing in this place right now. Let me believe in that, first of all. Let's expect more from ourselves than anyone else. That is how Tomono was able to change his mind. In this way, he was able to overcome his weakness.
Believing in Yourself" Makes Tomorrow a Little Better
Figure skating is famous for its short life span. Although not as long as women's figure skaters, most men's skaters also say goodbye to their competitive careers in their 20s. Tomono, now 24 years old, may not have much time left in his competitive career.
I am sure that teenage athletes will be gaining strength from now on. No one can guarantee that they will be able to compete in the World Championships again next year.
But strangely, when I look at Tomono, such pessimistic feeling disappears somewhere. Rather, my heart gets excited that Kazuki Tomono's prime period starts now. This is surely because we are also inspired by the "strength to believe in oneself" that Tomono has acquired.
People are not strong creatures. We make excuses, and we also make weak noises. We are tormented by a sense of inferiority, thinking we are not good enough compared to others, or we raise the white flag before we even begin to fight for fear of getting hurt. The more we grow up, the better we get at finding reasons not to do things.
It is easy to run away from our weaknesses. But that doesn't open the door to the future.
Even if you were not blessed with talent or the right environment from the start, if you have worked hard, you must first properly believe in yourself. Stop belittling yourself and give yourself more credit than anyone else for the person you are right now.
Seeing Tomono, who was defeated by his rivals that day, but still determined to "face his own strength, not his own weakness," gives me such courage. You don't have to have any evidence. It doesn't matter if it is bullshit or a bluff.
The highlight of Tomono's performance was the choreo sequence at the end of the competition. Failures, hesitations, worries, complexes, all are blown away as Tomono runs across the ice with such speed. The sense of speed and the exhilaration of his performance make the audience feel happy.
Even if I can't make someone smile like that, there must be something I can do. I too shall face not my weakness but my strength.
I was moved by Tomono's performance because it contained an important message for living life.

2023.04.02 11:03 erisenuni The Crystal Gems' inconsistent power levels

I like the show but the crystal gems having various degrees of power levels just grinds my gears.
Amethyst is a quartz and yet she's a pushover 99% of the time, and I understand that she was defective but as far as I can tell the only "defect" she has is her size, I don't think it's mentioned in the show anywhere that she's weaker than the average quartz.
Pearl quite literally has been fighting for most of her time on earth for thousands of years, trained in swordsmanship and knighthood, focus, discipline and determination and yet fumbles every time a new opponent comes along - this is very evident when Peridot made her appearance. Connie ironically is a better fighter than her. With that being said, I like Pearl a lot whenever she becomes unhinged lol.
Garnet is a weird case, she's a fusion but feels like she's just a regular gem, granted that Ruby and Sapphire seems to be like the lesser gems in the gem world I think thousands of years of fighting would have net them experience in combat.
Then Jasper comes along, and suddenly the crystal gems became "the shiny rocks" because they all couldn't live up to the name.
The only consistent character in the show is Steven where his ~~talk-no-jutsu~~ gem power literally grows alongside him.
I understand it's a kid's show but some consistency would be nice.
Also, Lapis is literally OP she could wreck every new bad guy if she wanted to.

2023.04.02 11:00 gamria A Fun Speculation on Elbaf and the prospect of Norse influence on its Geography

Don't know if this topic had been brought up before on this subreddit or not, but given that Elbaf has its own Yggdrasil tree of sorts, plus mention of a Prince Loki back on Whole Cake Island, I got to thinking since: Oda will insert plenty of Viking influences for sure, but will he also insert a number of Norse myth influences too?
So I started speculating how a One Piece-esque Nine Realms would work. Here's what I got:
Also, you know how Oda once teased (in the SBS I think?) we'll someday have a pirate with an eyepatch? What if Elbaf has its own Odin, and he'll have an eyepatch? And with Oda's propensity for respecting knowledge and history, perhaps his take on Odin will have his own badass "defender of knowledge" moment?
It's just fun to speculate Oda's wacky future showings, especially with Elbaf teased for decades!
