I think I know why Tom made the phone call he did, and it relates to his potentially dwindling influence with Logan. It's pretty clear at this point that Shiv will probably be the one to ask for a divorce, and given that they had a pre-nuptial written, it's likely that the divorced party collects some degree of assets from the divorcee. Considering the circumstances of their marriage I doubt it's an enormous percentage, but it's still likely significant, originally intended to guard against Tom divorcing Shiv and running away with Waystar stock.

At the moment, Section 8 violations (serving as a director for competing corporations) are not really enforced at all, so it's a completely believable outcome from a legal standpoint. Whether or not the playing both sides was accidental, I would predict that this could come into play later.
Also, I can't help but wonder if Mencken will win and somehow become involved with the Waystar sale. Given that he can make FTC appointments, he could probably prevent the sale if he wanted to, it's just a question if his inaguration, should he win, would be too late for that. I read that the writers, Veep-style, might want to keep the president an anonymous figure, hence having Eavis not win the primary. Still, I would be disappointed if Mencken doesn't play a bigger role, because it was strongly alluded to that this would happen.

So, when I was 13; I was really into snowboarding so every chance I got, I was out doing that in winter. (Though in recent years, I could do so in July.) There was one huge hill that was open to anyone, everyone all year long so long as they didn't cut trees or wreck the place. Because some assholes decided to wreck property and trespass, I cannot even snowboard on my own property because the neighbors complain that 'I might break their fence' so unless I want to pay hundreds of dollars to go to some fancy resort, this is the ONLY place I can snowboard! On a plot of land half a mile wide, I'm fairly fucking certain we can all enjoy it!" I didn't wait for a response, I just went on down the hill (swerving to avoid all the kids who think laying down in the middle of a place everyone is skiing, snowboarding, or sledding is a good idea) and thought that would be it. But, as you can guess, I was wrong...
I was never the best at stopping so I stopped when I hit the trees; thankful that they were still rather bendy. Over the sounds of laughter and snow being shredded, I heard the Karen screaming and turned to see her at the top of the hill, pointing at me and calling me every name in the book. Apparently, she called her husband (who confirmed they lived nearby) and said that 1) I had threatened her, 2) I had called HER everything in the book, and 3) I was a grown adult. At 13, I was MAYBE 3'9 and looked like I was 10. (Her husband had to fight laughter when he saw me stomping back up the hill; wearing a hot pink "Barbie" snowsuit and carrying a cheap "Monster Energy"/black with electric green board under my arm.)
He asked what I had said, I repeated it and admitted I knew cursing was wrong but expressed how annoyed I was. He tried to calm his wife but she screamed more and said "I'M CALLING THE LAND OWNERS!" I smiled like the Cheshire Cat and told her "Go right ahead! I'll speak to them, too!" So she did and she launched into a huge rant; very animated with lots of flailing and hopping similar to an angry hen. Finally, when she starts losing steam, I can hear one of my uncles saying "I'll be right there; sit tight!" The shitty smile that spread across her face when she heard that...she sneered at me and said "I'm going to get you in sooo much trouble!" (Her husband had gathered the kids and told them to wait in the truck by then; he looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole and die of embarrassment.)
After about 15 minutes, a truck pulled up and out hopped my uncles. They came over and spoke to the woman; I could tell they didn't 100% believe her but because this was THEIR land, if anything happened, they'd be on the hook for it. She got loud again and demanded I be "banned for life" and all that. They looked around and asked her to "Point to the dangerous and disrespectful woman" as clearly, I was the only one snowboarding that day. She huffed and grabbed me; giving me a shake as she shouted "THIS BITCH HERE!" Despite it being the middle of January, I swear I heard crickets as the wheels in their heads turned. (Knowing these men and how much like their own kid they saw me, it was mostly to keep from yeeting this woman into the sun.) Finally, one of them spoke:
"You mean our NIECE!?" Karen sputtered and tried to come up with some sort of response but, failed miserably. My uncles then gave her the choice: Leave now and come back in a couple days (they'd drive by to make sure she stayed away). OR Continue acting how she was and they'd press charges on her to have her banned and charged with assault for grabbing me as well as being on the hook for any damages her kids caused to anybodies gear. (Apparently they'd been getting calls but nobody knew her name so the cops couldn't do anything.)
She huffed and stormed off, her husband following and looking like a beat dog. She never did come back...

Hi everyone, this ist my day 60 post :) In the last 2 months I visited this sub daily and your posts gave me the strength to keep this nocaf thing going. I hope this post will help someone of you to survive the day! I'm 38 years old, drank about 5 big cups of coffee per day and for the last 10 years I tried to stop, but I failed again and again. What brougth me back to coffee was the need to work and earn money. Withdrawal made me a zombie without motivation, even after months.
In my early 20s, coffee was not a big thing for me. I drank a lot and without it my univerity and business career would have been impossible. I didn't like my studies and I didn't like my jobs, but coffee made me a working machine. When I was about 28, things started to change - coffee began to make me more and more tremulant, sleepless, anxious, aggressive etc. until the side effects totally dominated my life in a vicious circle of bad sleep and evil side effects. My social life suffered, my longterm girlfriend left me because I was stressed and aggressive all the time. I lost many friends and for the last 5 years I lived like a unhappy hermit. That nearly killed me because I'm a very social person that needs human contact.
60 days ago I became a heavy gastritis, the third time in 6 months. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy :( The doctor told me, I have to stop drinking coffee or otherwise I will have gastric ulcer in a few years. So I sweared to myself, this time I will stop it forever. As always the first 4 weeks were hard withdrawal time. Since that the only 2 remaining symptoms were sleep problems and lack of motivation. But all the other symptoms disappeared. The most important is for me, that I started to enjoy speaking to other people again. I found new friends and reactivated old friends, what made my private life much more happy.
But what still bothered me is the lack of motivation at work. I realized that I don't like my profession, I always worked as a sales guy and project manager for greedy and soulless companys. Since 3 years I also have to work at home most of the time, looking into my laptop 8 hours a day, what really aggravated the hermit thing. So, a week ago I decided to change things completely. I applied for a job at a facility for people with mental disabilities, because in my new working life I want to help other people. They invited me to visit them for a whole day, just to see what it means to work there. I don't know what they expected, but I loved it so much, I didn't want to leave! I would earn less money there but as long as I can survive financially, I don't mind. Just to be happy in my life and to feel joy at work, that's whats I want. They will tell me this friday if I get the job :)
I have the theory that lasting lack of motivation is not a result of caffeine withdrawal, it's just getting obvious when you loose your stimulant. If you want to motivate yourself for doing a job you don't like, caffeine is your best bet. I don't want to tell everybody to retire their jobs and to care for people with disabilities (althouh that would make the world a much better place). But when you still have motivation problems one month after you stopped coffee, then ask yourself if there could be a job out there, that would motivate you to do it without any stimulant. When you can do that job without having to starve, than go for it. You only live once!

I (f26) have been married to my husband (m28) for almost two years now and I won’t want to be married anymore.
Over the course of our almost 6 year relationship we have travelled the world together and overcome some great challenges, the first 2 years were completely long distance with a few short visits and we spent an additional year apart during COVID but as soon as he could he travelled to my country and we got married 3 weeks after he landed.
For some context, I have struggled with mental health my whole life but about 6 months ago I started weekly therapy and have been working extremely hard on bettering myself and re-getting to know myself. I have been falling for myself lately, enjoying more time alone with myself and becoming more confident. I have had second thoughts about him before but through this self discovery it has become solidified for me that we are not meant for each other. Our values just do not align, and that was easy enough to ignore when we were having fun and travelling around but now that we are settling in I can’t overlook anymore.
I have been the financially responsible one for the last 4 years, he has also pushed away most of his friends and family over the last 2 years so I am also responsible for all of his mental, physical and emotional needs as well and I have reached the end of my rope.
I recently layed all my cards on the table and he says he is willing to do anything to save the marriage and that “we made vows to at least try”. But he doesn’t see our differences and the ones he does see he doesn’t think are a big deal.
I feel like a villain because I do still have love for him and know how badly he wants to make this work, but I am currently at a point where I don’t even want to try but know without my financial and emotional support he has slim to no options.

• There are some things that we know about him for sure.
• He found the Lor Starcutter and Kept it for himself.
• He has knowledge regarding this universe’s past.
• His technological skills rivals Haltman's company.
• He looks similar to Hyness

Let’s start with his name alone.

• He’s the only character who has correlation to the Jambastian Language. “Lor” means paradise.
• while there’s nothing correlating with Mag, or Mago, we DO have Mafo. In the Japanese version of the game, he’s known as “Mahoroa.” Mafo is phonetically similar to Maho, and Mafo means Lie or Falsehood.
• “False Paradise” is very fitting– since his actions in the Kirby series onward LOOK like good intentions, but have a bit of a dark side.

• It also seems sentient. Well after Magolor is banished into “Another Dimension,” The Lor Starcutter is flying off with Landia. We don’t really know how long he had had it for, but what we do know is that the Lor Starcutter was willing to give consent to Magolor taking the wheel.
  • Lor sensed something was amiss when it met Magolor. It can travel to far-off paradises with ease...so why didn't it? Perhaps it hid its true power, wanting to be stopped after stealing the crown...”

His past is unknown, but his knowledge of the universe’s treasures isn’t something to ignore.

• We know from post dialogue that he knows about Novas– aka Clockwork stars, meaning that he had traveled for a long time. He also travels through Another Dimension with little effort, and he has knowledge of Kirby according to sprinkled dialogue post-campaign.

Now before you lash out on me, I don’t think he’s part of the Jambastian clan. There are two sets of Ancients after all. I think he’s part of the Technology Clan, rather than the Magic Clan that we all know and love.

• I want to address something I’ve noticed during his possession of the Master Crown. While many say that the Master Crown caused him to become part of Dark Matter, I have my doubts. Landia was able to use the crown just fine, and while they were hostile, we can brush it off as a defensive response. Even while he’s completely under the influence, they don’t seem to be turning into any Dark Matter Variant.
• “Strong as it may be, even the crown’s guardian, Landia, cannot fully control the overwhelming terrible power to rule that swell within its legendary crown, said to be a creation of the ancients.”

Void Termina did use the Master Crown, but its energy is in the form of a rainbow, meaning that it’s part of its memory. Backing up that evidence, Dark Matter himself used the Rainbow sword that he was defeated by– which was also casted by a rainbow, and when Void Termina had enough of Kirby’s resistance, the Body of it did indeed disappear, so we can assume that it’s simply a calculated coincidence.

I think what happened to Magolor was two things:

• His true intentions were obviously terrible, and his thoughts were calculated.
• He corrupted himself due to the fact that he’s not used to having this much power.

Part of his dialogue in Magolor’s Epilogue regards that once his powers are maxed out, he’s afraid of furthering his power even further… It may be due to the fact that he lost control of himself last time.
That probably means that he’s not used to wielding magic. On top of this, the fact that he does wield magic excites him. His dialogue, while silly and occasionally childish and mischievous, also gives his character as an excited scientist discovering new things. If he was part of the Magic clan, that means that this would be a la-de-bla to him.

• “So much power! Better stop here. If this attack gets any stronger, I could end up warping to other worlds! Ooo, scary.”

A set of his magical powers during his cutscenes also has gears faintly in the background. This could be brushed off as him needing gears for the Lor Starcutter, but even so, it means his knowledge of technology is no small feat.

  • I initially said that his expertise in tech with Haltman’s Company is on par. There has been speculation that Haltmann colonized both Halcandra and Shiver Star. Shiver Star is very likely, but I think Halcandra is the other way around. The origin story of HR-D3 is left by saying that its owner is long dead. Haltmann is very much alive (at least before the events of Planet Robobot). I think the blueprints were given to Haltmann, but by whom exactly? We don’t know, what we do know is that if he’s familiar with Halcandra, he is also familiar with Egg Engines, their industrial practices, and its features. Another set of evidence is that both Susie and Magolor are familiar with Another Dimension.

• If that’s not evidence enough, the Holo Defense API has data of Sphere Doomers when fighting Kirby, and since Susie tends to create defense mechanisms to defend Haltmann Co. The only other solution is Star Dream. Anyone who uses the Mother Computer (which the only two people are allowed to do so are Sue and Max) on Star Dream can bring anything into reality– artificially. The inhabitants of Sphere Doomers don’t go outside of their own dimension, so she HAS to know about them.

• There’s a lot of similarities between the two parties up to but not limited to both of them being experts at owning, running, and blossoming a business without fail. The Problems with Magolor being friends with either President Haltman or Susie is how they both are tonally.
  • Magolor’s maturity is much more childish and mischievous while the Haltmann family leans to no-nonsense and stoic.
  • Haltmann’s Company obviously had more sinister intentions, while most of Magolor’s businesses are more or less pure and aimed more towards fun.
• So while I believe they COULD have worked together, it doesn’t mean they were coworkers, let alone friends.
• The second one is the Jambastian leaders, which I can immediately throw out the window.
  • If my Technology Clan theory is correct, in Pre-Star Allies, they would DEFINITELY not get along. During the Void Termina Era, There were characters that we either knew were there or possibly there. The Jambastians: Tech Clan and Magic Clan, Galacta Knight, and Obviously Dark Matter– in the shape of Void Termina. Galacta Knight was instructed to fight against Void, and his ragtag group of warriors succeeded without any issues– it was almost too easy. Galacta Knight and Co sealed him away, and the two clans were scared of him, causing Galacta Knight to be Also sealed away by the Magic Clan. Knowing that the Magic Clan sealed away Galacta Knight, who sealed away Void, they were terrified of their existence, banishing them away.

• The third option makes the most sense, safe of one problem, but let’s get into it. He may be talking about Kirby and the Gang. Kirby and Co. are the best fliers, and he did spend a lot of time with them despite betraying them. Magolor also apologizes constantly towards them, and makes it up to them by making attractions and minigames fun– I.E. Dedede Drum Dash. While yes, he does charge them, his Lor Starcutter is gone: Man’s gotta eat. The slight wrench to the problem is he’s clearly jealous of Kirby’s power. He knew about Kirby in the first place, and his dialogue during Maxing out certain powers claim that he may even surpass the powers of Kirby. However, that might just be a respectful off-putting compliment for Kirby. Kirby did save him from Magolor’s megalomaniacal power trip, after all. So him considering Kirby and Co. as friends is almost perfect.

In short, I probably have no idea what I’m talking about, and Magolor’s backstory is very interesting and left ambiguous. While many of them are facts, some are just speculation and thoughts living rent free in my mind. Be kind, and remember it’s just a theory.

I know there are probably lots of other forums but I feel comfortable here.
I live in a very small place with a roommate. There has always been a bit of friction but we have been able to work it out.
Right now the issue is his hoarding. He was just way too much stuff for someone living in one room. He has so much stuff crammed into the little dining area (that he long ago took complete control of) that we can't even easily get out the back door.
In addition to his too many personal belongings he picks up trash and brings it in, ostensibly to sell on Craigslist or a yard sale. But he never even tries to sell it, it just stacks up.
On top of that, and I knew this when I moved in over 13 years ago, he stuff illegally (I presume) crammed into the attic.
I am noticing cracks in the ceiling. Not sure if it's just paint or if the stuff up there is actually putting stress on the support beams. When I was seeing fallen trees throughout my neighborhood I was getting even more concerned about possible safety issues. I asked him if one of the trees fell into the building if it would send everything up there crashing into my head. He said the tree won't fall. I am not unsafe. Okay maybe if there was an earthquake but it's okay because there are any numbers of ways I could die, "you could die in a nuclear war."
This dude gets easily triggered when confronted with anything, or anything that upsets his routines. Whatever that is I don't know. Suggesting a storage facility doesn't work because he doesn't work and is in an increasingly futile quest to keep surviving without working. Prior to lockdown he did some movie extra work and housesitting gigs but even in 2020 those were already drying up and he was aging out.

So I am getting increasingly anxious about my personal safety. If there is structural damage I would like to get ahead of it and find out for myself so I could sue the landlord for relocation expenses. If not I would still like to get him to at least get the stuff out of the way of the back door and out from over my head. I pay him rent directly to pay the landlord. In effect that means he is my landlord. So I could withhold rent until he fixes it. Of course I would make sure the real landlord gets paid.
Or maybe my anxiety is irrational and needs to be treated as a separate issue?
I could involve the landlord but I would have to tread carefully. Even with my recent rent increase the equivalent units in the building are going for $600 more than this one so he could just throw both of us out. Actually my roommate was helping fix those up. To help pay off "back rent." So I might have to talk to the landlord anyway to negotiate a soft landing for myself should that become a more pressing issue.
Telling me to just move is not a solution. I am living in a far below market place in Los Angeles and I like my location and neighborhood (right by a Trader Joes and on the bus line I use most) in a bigger than average room. Not only that, I am just not doing the roommate thing again. Ever. I think I would just check out should that become a necessity. He isn't even a druggie or thief (actually very trustworthy and a similar values system to myself) which I was always most scared of. But yes, you heard that right, I would rather just lay down and die than have to ever go thru anything like this or move in with a stranger again.

I've tried searching here and Google for a few weeks now and I haven't seen anyone come up with the same issue I'm having so I think I might be on my own but it never hurts to try!
I'm trying to sync my Woocomm site with our point of sale system and the POS devs are blaming the failure to sync images on the "meta_data -> id" value being too large (beyond a 16 bit integer.)
I've gone back in the database and found the date when the meta_data ->id value jumped from reasonable (in the tens or hundred thousands) to what it is now (8 quinitillion) and it was while the site was hosted with SiteGround. SG moved to using Google cloud at the same time and I think that's the root cause of the huge number.
So my question is: is there a way to reset the meta_data->id or restart the site with the id starting at 1? If there is a way to restart at a value that's above the old "normal" values and below the current "too high" values that would be ideal. Or if you have any other ideas I'm all ears.
I'm not a system admin by any stretch but most things have been pretty easy up to now so I've been doing it myself.

Context: I'm close to completing my undergrad in finance from SFU in Vancouver, BC. I only have 4 courses left. I'm giving CFA level 1 exam in August 2023. I eventually want to get into portfolio management. Also, I have completed 8 months of co-op, but it's not related to finance. It's MIS related.
I have two options now:
1) Search for a finance co-op and get the co-op certificate. After that, I'll take 4 courses and graduate. However, I'm facing a hard time landing any interviews for finance related roles. So it might delay my graduation further if I go with this option.
2) Take 4 courses this summer and graduate by September.
TL;DR I'm worried if I don't have any finance related experience, I won't get a full time job. Additionally, a finance related coop might help me land a better full time job??

Had a job interview today. So nervous. Please pray they see past that and hire me for my experience. It's a more technical experience position, but it's something I know I could handle and it would be 4 times what I make right now (I make min wage weekends only so not much, due to availability and family situation, this would be a huge improvement) but I really want this and need this rn but want it to be God's way, what he wants for me too. Hi LegalAdviceUK, I do not no if anything that breaches FCA rules etc has occurred, but I feel I have been treated unfairly.
In December 2022 I moved into a new house which is freehold but has charge for maintenance of communal areas. The estate has appointed "Residential Management Group Limited" as the managing agent for the development.
Dated on the 24th January 2023 I received a letter from them stating "We will shortly be issuing you with a statement of account, invoice and information on how this can be paid".
Their next correspondence with me was dated 27th Feb 2023, with a final request for payment "Your current balance is £201.93 of which £201.93 is overdue", they then provide a few payment options and "You have now incurred an additional a charge, as stated on your last invoice, due to non-payment." "Should your account still be overdue after 7 days from this letter and we have not heard from you to agree payment arrangement we will reluctantly refer your account to a debt collection representative to ... additional charges which may be in excess of £240.00"

Now here, obviously I should have paid, but I didn't... this quarter is always very busy for me.

My next correspondence was received from "Property Debt Collection Ltd", which do from a quick google/companies house check seem to be associated?
Anyway this was dated the 16th March 2023, with the following invoices

So seeing as there was threats of possession etc, I have gone ahead and paid the £555.93.
But I feel very unfairly treated, having a supposed £160.32 turn into £555.93. When the first time I saw a number was the on correspondence dated 27th February 2023 and PDC were instructed 15 days later.
I haven't found information related to max costs associated with things like this, but the scale of costs for a letter and timescales seem very predatory, and I am wondering if I could do anything to recover them?

Was thinking of new brews for pioneer and I'm sure this has been mentioned before - but wanted to get some thoughts on what a GB vampires list would look like -
A very rough draft of what the decklist will be - was thinking something along the lines of:
4 Elvish mystic 4 Llanowar elves 4 Oath of Nissa 4 Vessel of Nascency 4 Sorin, Imperious Bloodlord 4 Olivia, Crimson Bride 4 Ghalta and Mavren 2 Lord Xander 4 Thoughtseize 2 Traverse // Lili of the Veil 22 Lands
Gameplan would be very linear -

1. T1 elf and ramp into a T2 Sorin to cheat in Ghalta + Mavren and threaten 12 damage on T3 or Lord Xander
2. T1 oath to find the Sorin and same gameplan as (1)
3. T1 vessel, T2 crack to find Sorin and (hopefully) drop a Ghalta or Lord Xander into the GY. T3 Sorin into Olivia and cheat out another creature

For interaction, with the amount of legendary creatures, could make use of mana confluence & NEO channel lands at a discounted cost.
I dont really brew that much but I figured that this deck pretty much played out the same way as Greasefang. Very linear but technically can go off quicker (T2) and its more or less impossible for non-black decks to interact with a Ghalta or Xander if you manage to get them on the board.

TL;DR: for someone on a budget with average smart-phone needs: the Note9 is still relevant.
Last week I took advantage of the Samsung's store offer to trade in my Note9. After the US $400+ trade-in, the out the door price was $1k (unlocked, 256gb). I did the full Samsung Switch data transfer and used the S23 Ultra as my sole phone for 2 days.
For context: I'm not a gamer / pro-photog / social media person. What I do use my phone for: Whatsapp, lots of non-pro photos, work-related communication / emails / Google Drive doc editing, journaling with SNote, Sketching/Painting w/ SPen, and a ton of Kindle / Audible.
My take:

• S23 Ultra's wide-lens camera and video stabilization are *incredible*. It's almost like having a go-pro on your phone. (Almost). But considering the hefty price tag, I'm fine with sticking my cheap wide-lens accessory on my Note9, for the few occasions I need to.
• S23 Ultra's battery life: not much better than my Note9, used daily in the same way. Maybe 10% more. Same battery settings: location accuracy levels, optimization, etc.
• Charging the S23 takes so much longer. Using the same generic wireless charger. My Note9 is charged in 2-3 hours from 10%. The S23 on the same charger: 4 hours. And charging from my portable battery: it charges my Note9 twice over. The S23: charges 70% before running out of juice.
• eSIM! The idea of not having to perform microscopic SIM-tray surgery on a bumpy plane ride before I land in the next country sounds excellent. But eSIM comes with its own hassle. For example, my primary service provider has a "once you switch to eSIM with us, you can *never* go back to using a physical SIM with us". So, I'd never be able to use a older backup non-eSIM phone should I lose my eSIM phone. Also: you need a wifi connection or existing mobile connection to install a new eSIM. When I'm in a foriegn airport with no wifi: I'd be out of luck w/ eSIM. And, finally: my attempts at installing an eSIM didn't work. I relatively technically inclined, and I'm sure with a few more hours of troubleshooting with the eSIM provider, I could have gotten it to work, but my point is: it's not that straightforward.
• The S23 Ultra's SPen is a little longer I think, which is nice. Didn't make a difference though really. Exact same response and functionality.

If I had money to throw around, sure I'd spend that extra $1k on this awesome new phone w/o a second thought. But I'm on a tight budget. So I'm sticking with the Note9. It's been 3 days since I returned the S23. So far, no "returner's regret".
