I've been a member of the f45 near me for about a year. For background, I go about 4 times a week and then hit a regular gym 3 times a week. Plus I have a pretty active lifestyle. My diet is on point, I consume about 1600-1800 cals a day, am vegan and stick to a mainly whole food plant based diet, take all the supplements one needs to when they're vegan, and limit alcohol consumption - basically I'm doing all the things you're supposed to do to get in shape.
At first I loved f45 bc I was being challenged, burning a lot of calories and seeing results, but about 3 months ago I felt like I hit a wall. I was only burning 300-400 calories per workout and the scale started to reflect that. Plus, the repetition was getting boring. So I decided to freeze my membership for a month, try another boot camp style gym for that time and see what my results are.
First off, the only way to update your account at my F45 is texting the owner. So I do and he asks me why I'm freezing my membership so I explain how I've plateaued and need to try something new. He knows I'm serious about fitness, how consistent I am, that I do things outside 45 yet he has the audacity to tell me the following:
"Yeah, generally has a lot to do with what you're doing outside of the gym, but cross training across concepts is always worth a try. I would also recommend blood work to see where your hormone levels are at."
He didn't follow up with a single question, like what I'm doing outside f45, how he can help, even offering assistance, a scan, anything. Just tells me things I already know and suggests a blood test?
This specific location really reflects how little the owner cares about the gym and the members. The equipment is old and rough looking, we don't really do events anymore, they have an awful schedule with few classes and always remove classes even when the members ask him not to. The coaches do the bare minimum and don't assist with form. Yet I'm paying $170/month for this.
He's said in the past the gym has been operating at a loss since it's opened bc the revenue from memberships doesn't even cover the franchise fee. Which I'm sure contributes to his overall lack of care for the gym and the members, because it wasn't always like this.
From my experience and other stories I've heard it doesn't seem like owners can sustain all the operating costs and thus members who are paying an arm and a leg suffer, and then eventually go somewhere else. And eventually that location closes. (If you've read the news about F45 as a whole you can see this reflected in its losses and lawsuits)
How has your experience with your gym and F45 as a whole been?

I am 27f, I think I would benefit from tracking my progress on my weight loss journey. Typically I give up after 2 months, and I greatly struggle with being consistent. Hopefully this will make all the difference. etc. Currently at my weight if I eat 1800 calories I will lose .5lbs, 1550 calories for 1lbs, and 1300 calories for 2lbs per week. My hope it to lose 7.5-4.2 lbs in a month. Maybe exercising every weekend will help me to push it up to 10-5, but we will see.

With the arrival of spring, the City is shifting focus from winter weather emergencies to summer recreation and tourism. Today, the City announced plans to sell its fleet of snowplows. Cash raised from the sale of this equipment will be used to build a gondola connecting the pump track on the Bellingham waterfront to the top of the Galbraith Mountain trail system.
After recent mild winters, Bellingham Public Works staff determined the most effective way to remove snow from Bellingham streets is to borrow City of Ferndale snowplows, known as: Golden Eagle, SanderYacht, Jam On and Plowtallica. By borrowing Ferndale’s equipment, the City will be able to sell its snowplows. The City will also start a volunteer program wherein local residents can attach locally fabricated, 3-D-printed snowplows to certain types of Subarus.
The expected $50,000 in revenue from the snowplow sale will be used to construct the Galbraith Gondola. Intended for use by mountain bikers, hikers, dogs, community members and tourists, the Galbraith Gondola will provide an easy connection from downtown Bellingham to the top of Galbraith Mountain, providing recreation access to the more than 65 miles of singletrack winding through 3,000 acres.
“This is just the beginning. After completing the first phase we will establish a coffee shop and a craft brewery at each end of the gondola,” said Arick Jahnsten, Vibe Chancellor with Bellingham Public Works, said in the April 1, 2023, announcement.
“The City of Bellingham has a nationally recognized commitment to biking infrastructure, with new bike lanes being constructed every year. When combined with our community’s support for recreation and trails, and as a draw for tourists, the addition of the Galbraith Gondola just makes sense. The combination of bikes, dogs, trails, coffee and beer is the essence of Bellingham,” he said.
Opening day for the Galbraith Gondola will coincide with the Northwest Tune-Up Festival. Use of the gondola will be free of charge. Operating costs will be paid for by fees charged for parking vehicles at the gondola base: Tacoma pickup trucks and Sprinter vans will be charged $50 per day, while all electric vehicles will park free of charge.

30 days ago I made a post listing a ton of movies I've never seen and hilariously got roasted in the comments for my lack of culture and for some of the movies on the list. My goal was to watch 1 movie per day until the list was complete but after a month of that I can honestly say that's way too much media especially since the list has grown to over 200 titles since posting. I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem or have any suggestions? - I have an iTrade account and Scotia gives me 5 free trades per year in the form of a rebate paid to my non registered account. I'm pretty good with taxes and calculating capitals gains, adjusted cost base, etc. To calculate correctly I should be removing any rebated fees from the costs of my share purchases and dispositions in any min registered account, but Scotia doesn't make it easy to properly account for the rebates because:

• Rebates aren't reflected on trade confirmations but are instead paid as a rebate into the account after the fact.
• The timing of the rebate doesn't immediately follow the trade so multiple trades may have taken place before the rebate is paid making it nearly impossible to know which trade it applies to and which side of the trade.
• Rebates are paid for trades in both registered and non registered accounts without any clear indication of which account the rebate is being applied to.

I'm debating taking a cautious approach and just removing the total amount of the rebates paid from any trades in non registered accounts.

The damages that brought my car into the collision shop were very minor. Replacement of bumper, hood, and radiator support (radiator was fine and fan was spinning.) The car was perfectly mechanically sound, and had just been at a mechanic shop around a month prior for an oil change and "complimentary inspection" which returned nothing significant except that my 2-year-old battery would need replacement soon.
When I arrived at the collision shop, they had me sign off on a work authorization form. Related points of interest in this document:

• Authorize them to perform repair work described in the repair estimate form.
• Not responsible for loss or damage beyond control of the shop.
• Unless otherwise specified by the customer, the vehicle will be driven to a car wash to be detailed before delivery. (using this one only to point out my car can't be driven anymore, and I certainly didn't tell them not to detail it)
• Must authorize a Pre/Post Scan. "Refusal of pre/post scan services releases [company name] from any and all legal responsibilities from any safety hazards or consequences directly involved with not being able to properly diagnose any remaining repairs needed."
• There are storage fees of $75 per day applied 72 hours after notification that the vehicle repairs is complete and ready for pickup.

I drove my car after my accident. They admitted to driving my car around their shop "just fine." There was a parts delay, so they had the car moving around their lot for over a month before repairs began. The pre-scan returned codes for weight control (which is passenger airbag) and the traction control system. They also caught wind from a document in my glovebox that I had "done some transmission work" in October of 21. (It was a total transmission replacement)
On Tuesday (almost 2 weeks ago) I received a call that there was only a minor part still back ordered, but due to arrive soon enough that they were going to begin work and they expected the car to be complete on Thursday.
On Thursday, I received a call that the body work was complete, but now the car was stuck in park and throwing a new error code. They gave me the code, and told me that the code was "turbo clutch. Powertrain" They were trying to say it was a transmission problem and use the fact that I had transmission work in the past to exclude any fault of their own in this matter, as well as justification to refuse to touch it. The ACTUAL code was PO237, which is in no way related to transmission. It is an error that there is too little airflow going through the engine's turbo sensor, and nothing to do with the transmission system at all. According to the dealership when I called in inquiring, the reason it won't come out of park is a safety mechanism, there is wiring for the sensor behind the bumper (which was replaced) and part of the airflow pieces attach to the radiator support (which was also replaced).
When I called explaining it, they agreed to have a mobile mechanic look at the car "because their mechanic refused because they didn't want me to come back and say that he caused the problem by digging around" They told me the name of the mobile mechanic, and every single review they have on Google for the past 4 years is a 1-star review.
Their mobile mechanic looked at it on Monday and Tuesday. They told me on Monday that they had cleared the codes, and there were no codes returning now, but the car was still stuck in park. They said the mobile mechanic thinks its the body control system but on Monday I was told that was not his final answer because he really isn't sure. (A body control system is basically the central unit controlling the entire electrical system for the car) They also told me that my battery had died (which was not unexpected as it was 2 years old) and that they dropped another battery in the car. The battery dying is their reasoning for calling it a failure of the body control system, as a symptom is draining batteries. That was not a symptom I was encountering before... I had never once jumpstarted that 2 year old battery.
I didn't hear a thing back on Tuesday. I called twice on Wednesday and they wouldn't take my calls, but I left messages stating that I did not authorize their mobile mechanic to do any repairs on my electrical system.
They didn't take or return my calls on Thursday, either.
Finally, when I called Friday they told me that they want me to pick my car up. It is still not coming out of park. Their assessment of this is the "body control system failure" and that it is not something caused by either the accident or the repairs, and "its just something that commonly happens in my make and model of car." (It is not even in the top 10 mechanical problems encountered by my make and model of car, and there are ZERO instances of anyone discussing it in the subreddit for my model)
They specifically told me that my car is still not mechanically sound enough to drive. Given that it is stuck in park, I would need a flatbed tow to retrieve it.
They want me to come retrieve it on Monday, and they want me to call and give them a heads up "so their manager can be prepared."
I am concerned that if I pick the car up from them, I am effectively signing off as accepting the current state of the car as "complete."
What advice would you give me on next steps? Do I accept my car and tow it to the dealership for diagnosis? Will I be able to hold them financially liable for these repairs? (I should note that my insurer paid for the collision repairs, but my insurer hasn't exactly been the most reputable through this either... Which is a whole side story that can be summarized in that they forced me to use their choice of shops, and I've never once been able to reach the adjuster involved.)

The rural first responders that are generally first on the scene with the restructuring of rural Manitoba EMS stations and healthcare. This is a long read, but it explains why our Medical First Response services in MB are in jeopardy and what we're doing to try and save it. We encourage you to share this post and to speak out & voice your concerns by contacting your MLA and local government. After all, it's the public's safety and emergency medical care that's at stake here.
HOW DID WE GET TO WHERE WE ARE
- The College of Paramedics of Manitoba (CPMB) decided to make changes to the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course which now sees the required training hours go from 120 to 312. These changes were made and approved by the College without any feasibility study or consultation with Medical First Response (MFR) agencies or the Municipalities that fully fund these MFR agencies.
- Once hearing of this news, MFR representatives tried to reason with the College and to get them to understand what the negative impact these changes would make in regards to sustaining our services, but it all fell over deaf ears and they went ahead and continued on their path without considering any of our concerns.
- Many resolutions from Municipalities that were opposed to these changes were sent to Provincial Ministers. Association of MB Municipalities (AMM) also passed a resolution to lobby the MB Government against these changes. Completed petitions were sent to AMM. The media also published stories of what was transpiring and how it would effect MFR services.
- Deputy Health Minister, Karen Herd, set up a working group comprised of Shared Health, MB Health, AMM, Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC), Manitoba Association of Fire Chiefs (MAFC), CPMB, and MFR reps. to try and come up with a satisfactory and reasonable solution that would meet everyone’s needs.
- Shared Health came up with a proposal that did not include any involvement by MFR representatives. This proposal outlined three choices for Municipalities to adopt. 1.Remain as Medical First Response 2.Provide a Fire First Response service 3.Provide no service at all.
- The MFR group was not satisfied with the proposal for the following main reasons: 1.Remaining as a MFR agency would not be sustainable for most in the province because the new training requirements for EMRs makes it close to impossible to recruit new students. MFRs are volunteer based so the EMRs that make up this service have other full time jobs and/or are raising families and cannot commit to the almost tripling of hours required to be trained as an EMR. 2.Fire First Response would not work without the affiliation and dispatching of MTCC. The skills that have been outlined with this service is not sufficient. We need to be able to continue performing delegated acts or skills such as ASA, Acetaminophen, Salbutamol, Nitroglycerin, Glucometry, Oximetry & a full set of Vitals including blood pressure.
- Shared Health has decided to hold a one-day Municipal Medical First Response planning workshop on April 25. Their objectives are to inform Municipal Governments by providing in-person forums, clarify legislative and regulatory requirements, provide information on first-aid and medical first response training options. They will not be presenting any other proposals or inviting any more ideas at this event.
THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The 2012 Emergency Medical Services review found many areas of concern with all levels of service, including MFR. Go to the following link to view the entire report. https://www.gov.mb.ca/health/documents/ems.pdf - EMS (ambulance) services continue to get worse in rural MB in regards to response times which makes MFR services even more important then ever before. - The new EMR training requirements implemented by the College of Paramedics will force MFRs to discontinue their services and either adopt a lower level of service or not provide the service at all. - The current proposed Fire First Response service would not allow us to carry or administer Aspirin, Tylenol, Salbutamol (inhalers) and Nitroglycerine. Meanwhile, any member of the public can get these over the counter, excluding Salbutamol. We would also not be able to check a patient’s blood sugar level or blood oxygen level. These are simple procedures that trained personnel can perform and when they are done early enough, can drastically change a patient’s outcome . It makes no sense to take these away from First Responders and we have not gotten an explanation as to why this has been done. - The public in which MFR agencies are present sees our services as crucial in rural MB and support our cause. - All MFR agencies are funded by local taxpayers through the municipal tax base. There is no cost to the province. - Municipalities can’t afford to pay yearly fees of $695 per EMR or to train new EMRs at a cost of over $10,000 per EMR. - Those few that are looking at becoming an EMR, cannot get enrolled with any of the educators because there is not enough enrollment so the courses keep getting canceled. This means, even if wanted to become a volunteer or full time EMR, you can’t get trained. - When dispatched alongside EMS, MFRs play a important roll in pre-hospital care by closing that gap in the response and providing professional medical care within our jurisdictions. We can be with a patient up to 30 minutes prior to EMS arriving. - MFRs take pride in the service they can provide to their local residents and those that visit our communities. They are knowledgeable of the area and know what is expected from the public. They are also committed to helping others by dedicating volunteer time and sacrificing time away from their families. - MFRs didn’t ask for change. Everything was working well the way it was. We have now been forced to fight for our survival and to be able to provide a high level of emergency medical care in our communities. - We will not back down until we are satisfied with the level of service we can provide. - We have the support of the public, Municipalities, AMM, EMS, MLAs and other organizations. Besides the College of Paramedics, there is no one that we know of, that is in support of what the College has done.
WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE
-Our current MFR group is willing to adopt a Fire First Response based system that was proposed by Shared Health in Nov, 2022. Saying that, the model of the proposed Fire First Response has to change. We are asking for two very important aspects to be added to make this an efficient and acceptable level of service.
1.Continue to be dispatched by MTCC for these reasons: A-To limit any delays in being paged out (within 45 seconds of EMS being paged) B-Having direct communication with MTCC dispatchers who are EMRs to relay critical information back and forth. C-Having the ability for MTCC dispatchers to get us and the incoming EMS personnel to communicate via radio to be able to rely updated patient reports, location details, additional resources required, ETA, etc. D-If we are not affiliated with MTCC, there is no way for them to know which Fire Departments provide Fire First Response services. They would have no way of knowing when to have a Fire Dept. paged out.
2.Allow additional skills to the service, even if it requires changes in legislation and regulations. These skills include carrying and administering ASA, Acetaminophen, Salbutamol & Nitroglycerine. Also, to be able to check a patient’s blood sugar level, blood oxygen level and full set of vitals, including blood pressure.

Hi everyone! I have my bachelors degree which I paid for upfront with a mix of OSAP/Federal student loans. I owe about $20k remaining and now I want to pursue my graduate degree since I’ve been out of school for a couple of years now (I make $450 payments per month on that current debt). I’m looking to get my degree internationally (in the US) so the conversion and international fees are a little steep. Hi everyone! I'm currently working on an a robo- advisor platform of sorts. However, I've run into a frustrating issue the brokerage APIS I've explored so far (Apex, Alpaca, and Tradier) all charge a hefty platform fee, with the lowest being $1000 per month Moreover, they don't provide the option to test with live data unless I sign a contract and start billing. I'm puzzled by the lack of usage-based pricing tiers, but as it's not my API or company, I have no say in that matter. As an independent developer in the early stages of development, I don't want to accumulate debt for a potentially unprofitable project. Does anyone know of any brokerage APIS that offer usage-based pricing models for their advisor APIS? Id greatly appreciate any suggestions or advice.
