It’s great to see the resurgence zyzz has had in pop culture. Tik tok definitely has a big part of that with all the motivational edits and such. People like tevvez, baby zyzz and the new aesthetics guys like Soosh all are at the forefront of the revolution. All this is inspired by Zyzz and that’s very touching but at the same time it feels like who Zyzz actually was is being lost. For example if you go to Spotify and type in Zyzz music all that comes up is new hardstyle and not the trance edm and hardstyle from the time Zyzz was actually alive. I guess what I’m trying to say is Zyzz has become something of a character and legend in todays gym culture. And it’s bittersweet because I feel like it dilutes the true man. Any thoughts brahs?

Ive looked through a lot of hardstyle playlists, and whether its Frenchcore, Uptempo, or anything, a lot of the songs sound slowish/boring with some motivational speaker in the background (Tevvez as an example although some of the songs are good), what specific genre would be like Unicorn on Ketamine genre. (I know there is a genre focused around the horse sounds but any genre that sounds like Unicorn on Ketamine in general is good).

Since everywhere has some sort of "year in review" like Spotify Wrapped, Reddit Recap, etc. I thought it would be fun to write a little "year in review" for my weight loss journey, in the hopes that some of you want to play along! Since August 15th, 2022, I have: -Lost 45lbs, or 20 kgs! (From 407 / 184.) -Been to the gym 87 times. (An average of 1h 30m!) Along the road came some neat perks! -Biggest gym achievement: Joined the 800lb club! [250lb squat, 345lb deadlift, 215 bench press!] -Through it all, one motivational quote kept coming back: "WE'RE ALL GONNA MAKE IT, BRAH! WE GO JIMMM!" -Top 3 motivational songs: Legend - Tevvez, Concerto No.2 in G minor RV315, Anthem of the underdog - Rise against. -Weight left to lose: "only" 177 lbs (or 80 kg in real units!) -Biggest NSVs: Back pain is gone! Can walk for several miles without dying! Can do 10+ real push-ups!
What's your achievements for this year till now? Show em' all, and be proud! We're all gonna make it, bros and broettes!

So I guess it's no surprise to anyone who follows the scene that people like Tevvez have brought hardstyle to a much larger audience via a tiktok/gymgoing crowd. All fair - to some people he's controversial, but he makes original music and generally plays by the rules. What is more shocking to me are these copycat artists that seem to release 'covers' of the exact same songs. For example:

Can You Feel My Heart ->
Sometimes it's just the same audio file, but reuploaded by different "artists". Like this cover of On The Floor, where one is just a sped up version of the other:

Sped up version
Not to mention this version which is just a straight up theft of Twisted Melodiez' bootleg
Before I continue, I should clarify how cover licensing works: In general, you need explicit permission to release a cover (called mechanical rights), and there are a few rules that comes with producing covers. For example, you cannot use any sample from the original production (unless provided explicit permission). However, there are some streaming platforms such as Spotify that handles this process of acquiring mechanical rights for you, meaning that you can effectively release covers on the platform without seeking explicit permission from the original author (or their record label, or whom/whatever holds the rights to that particular work). So in this way, you have people like TCM basically making a career out of producing covers.
But while there are a few of these money grab accounts that does pay attention to these rules, there are definitely a whole lot of them that don't and are clearly directly samples vocals and other soundbits from the song they are covering. It's honestly both a bit upsetting and saddening to see, not to mention that a lot of these people rake up literal thousands of dollars in royalties from Spotify before (or even if) they get caught.
