Untrimmed capes and ensouled heads
2023.06.08 17:55 nbc121 Untrimmed capes and ensouled heads
So I recently got my first 99 it's in HP so I was super pumped that it is untrimmed. Someone thankfully warned me that whenever you got any other 99 you would need to have the cape on the floor when you got the experience points to get the 99 level up. It was explained to me that runescape can't keep track of which 99 was the first 99 the player received. I am currently training prayer and am doing ensouled dragon heads and am reading up on the wiki and apparently you can reanimate them anywhere as long as the heads haven't been traded, noted or banked otherwise they need to be done at the dark alter. My question or complaint is why is runescape able to track ensouled heads in that manner but not what my first 99 was.

2023.06.07 17:39 Titanic_Harp Keep politics out of OSRS!
In light of the recent event announcement i just want to say again that it is absolutely unacceptable to include sexuality in the game so I am making an official request to have the quest Romeo and Juliet removed from the game permanently. Before you bite my head off I'm NOT a heterophobe in any way, but I do believe politics have no place in osrs. This game so far has had ZERO politics in it and I think I speak for the rest of the entirely 32 year old male player base when I say we would like it to stay that way. We are VERY upset.
Furthermore, shoving this blatant heterosexual propaganda down our throats is unacceptable. If you're heterosexual, go be heterosexual! I don't care at all! I just don't think that that ideology should be forced on us, when no other ideology like religion has been forced on us thus far, and if it were, I would be very vocal about that too, surely!! If they (God forbid) released a Christmas event me and my boys would be out in droves boycotting it.
Again not a heterophobe but keep politics out of my reskinned cookie clicker game!!!!! No more Romeo and Juliet!

2023.06.06 10:08 Lobotomist How do you handle the need for light sources and sneaking?
So in OSR especially , lightsources ( torches etc ) are important and beloved staple. For example Shadowdark is all based about dungeons being completely dark, monsters having darvision while players not. And having to carry torches as precious resource, or risk death to darkness.
However this begs the question how sneaking works?
Since if dungeon is dark, and players must walk around with torch ( and can not be without ). This is automatic homing sign above their heads. Its literally visible to anyone in clear line of sight, and since light spills, its also visible around corners, under doors, and even reflects quite long way.
Even if a thief hides. Let say he sets a torch in the room, and goes to hide behind a crate. A monster walking in will still know 100% that thief is in the room. So any kind of surprise, even with thief is out of question.
Also any forward scouting is pretty much impossible in dungeons because the torch is visible from far away.
So how is this supposed to work? How do you solve this problem ( a suspension of disbelief nugget that was bothering me ever since I picked up first OSR book )?

2023.06.05 20:21 99wcIRL [Discussion] About to buy my OSRS machine
Previous post describing what I'm looking for: HERE After about a week of asking for help from friends, google, and this subreddit, I think that I have settled on
THIS pre-built set up.
My reasoning for choosing this PC: I suppose that I am just looking for that final nod before hitting the buy button.
- It's super clear that there are endless possibilities at every price point for PCs -- it can make your head spin! For someone who doesn't have a ton of preferences for their PC, and just wants to stream the smoothest possible play of Old School Runescape (a 20 year old game!), it's probably healthy to settle with "good enough".
- From what I understand, the most important part of the PC for what I'm looking to do is the GPU and a 3060ti looks to be above and beyond what I'd need. The PC that I think I've settled on, however, is on a sale for the next 12 hours, which will get me the 4070 for the 3060ti price. Makes sense to me to jump on that?
Some (mostly small) hesitations: - Am I unnecessarily spending too much money? I've combed over performance comparison sites, though it is easy to fall into the trap of "higher number = better" when I don't even know what minimum metrics I am looking for.
- I don't love the case that it comes in. Shoot, I don't really like any of the gaming PC cases, though I'm sure it will easily become part of the background in my home easily enough.
- I am hopeful that I can change the light settings to be softer colors.
- I 100% will buy a pastel-ish mechanical keyboard to off-set this.
---
Like I mentioned earlier, the sale is only on for that PC for the next few hours, so I will likely purchase later today if it all lines up. I would love some feedback to let me know if I'm on the right track, otherwise what pre-built set ups you might go with instead of what I've snagged.
In case it is helpful, I have a Costco membership and am not afraid to head down there to grab my new gaming PC and a Costco dog all in one swoop.
Thanks everyone for the help with this!

2023.06.05 18:37 Either-Bell-7560 Looking for a System/Game for survival horror/fantasy/gritty lower power game.
I apologize if this is a bit sprawling. I've been trying to get my head around playing this in 5e, and just can't.
I've got this setting kicking around in my head - basically the gods were killed in a cataclysm, a mix of local spirits/powers/etc and eldritch abominations are the main sources of power, etc. Celestials and Fiends walk the earth, but are no longer tied to the higher powers. Kaiju, etc. The death of the gods tore the weave and just unleashed madness.
Giant post apocalyptic mess where (modern) humanity has mostly been in hiding for a couple hundred years and are just starting to pop their heads out of bunkers, and stuff is bonkers. (between "Love and Monsters" and "The Mist", but fantasy)
So I'm not necessarily looking "low magic" here - but I am looking for magic being costly, and never being an "easy button". For example, with 5e, I can work with Fireball, but Knock, Goodberry, Light, etc are more problematic. I need spellcasting to either be really risky, or costly.
I generally like 5e as a system - ability checks as a fallback for conflict resolution are simple and elegant, and advantage is easy - but the implied setting (The classes, the spells, etc) just aren't appropriate for this. They're all too flexible and high powered, and just erase so many of the environmental/survival/etc challenges that I'd like to play with. I've tried things like longer rest rules, and they help, but DND seems to solve these problems the wrong way (Ranger means you never get lost, etc)
I want PCs to be able to starve to death, or get badly wounded and die of infection, or go insane, etc - but I also think DND encumbrance and tracking rations and all that is tedious - do any games handle these threats well?
And this probably screams OSR to a lot of people - but I keep bouncing off. I don't want "Magic Guy" and "Sword Guy" - I want interesting classes with codified options for combat/etc.
I want interesting tactical combat - but not fiddly like a lot of 5e is (IE, lots of process/pieces that don't seem to do much).
Any suggestions?

2023.06.05 17:03 Vrantamar How my party derailed the campaign on the first session and their shenanigans thereafter
TL,DR: party derails star wars campaign, get approached by ISB but then became the leaders of a swoop gang. Then we get to the absurd death of one them in a cave, while it was carrying half the party loot.
I'm the DM for a group of 3 players. We're playing modded version of SW5e that is more similar to 5e power-level wise, along with a new class and a couple of new rules, including the midichlorian count that gives an inspiration dice daily. The game is OSR like, so the leveling is steep, the encounters are deadly, they have total freedom, there are random tables and so on; they started from level 1 and they hit level 2 after around 4 sessions. We're about 6-7 sessions in and they're having a blast.
The game is set on Tatooine, almost contemporary to the events that can be seen in the Book of Boba Fett series. Introducing the Party: a female wookie that was an active rebel in years prior; a female chiss, former Imperial sub-officer who betrayed and saved the wookie, and a custom made bodyguard droid built during the Clone Wars, whose age has corrupted some its circuitry and now act as a womanizer.
The three meet to carry out a simple escort mission for a Bothan merchant, from Mos Eisley to Bestine. In their first interaction with the Bothan, she checks for their biometric signature as a standard practice (they know it is) and the wookie (who sports a very dignified 6 to INT) attacks her, saying that she doesn't want to be profiled. The situation escalates quickly: the bothan bodyguard, a trandoshan, has his rifle on the ready and he's aming to shoot the wookie. The chiss and the droid manage to de-escalate the situation, and we move on. At this point in time, I'm foreshadowing that all my prep will go to waste. They proceed toward Bestine on their speeder bikes, when under the Twin Suns a Desert Storm rapidly approach them and engulfs them. They are quick-witted and head for the only cover, the entrance of Slauce Canyon, where they can catch their breath and wait the storm. There, they have an encounter with an enemy party of tuskens: there, the wookie, who caressly went out of cover, got downed by focused fire. They're now understanding that this is deadly if they're not careful, and so they all work together and kill them. The storm dies down and so they manage to avoid further combat and arrive at Bestine.
They unload the cargo in the bothan's warehouse, and they get paid. Everyone except the wookie, as compensation for her aggression before. Bomber wookie at first laughs because she thinks this was a joke, but it is not. So she comes rushing back and blows the door to the warehouse, where she finds the bothan and the trandoshan having a "happy time" (which I purposefully have them do as in a subtle cue to the player to stop, to no avail). The others do not try to stop her (as the player will say to them later), as the wookie comes in blasting the door, they kill them both. But they are not fast enough to stop the bothan putting a 6k credits bounty on each of their heads by the Hutts.
This was session 1.
Later, they find that one of the personal belonging of one of the tuskens is a very old radio beacon that points to a place in Jundland Wastes. There, they come across a vergence in the Force, a small lake where the wookie and the chiss have a vision: their most important ones come forth and question their life choices (the ones in their background). This was peak roleplaying to me, both of the players were really invested in it. The character are a bit shocked after that, but compose themselves and explore the cave where the radio beacon is pointing to. There, they find the skeleton of a Jedi who died meditating and his/her lightsaber, a saberstaff, that ignites for a short bit and then turns of with a few pop sounds. But that place was the lair of a Wraid, they got ambushed and again fought for their life against the beast: it downed two of them, but in the end they manage to kill it.
They also find an old and abandoned ship in a difficult place to get to, cut through the main hold door and get inside. They find there a cubic holocron and a black stone stele with markings on it. The language can be interpreted by the droid, but fails to do as it's stuck in a deadlock loop.
They now go back to Bestine to buy some spare parts for the ship, while fending off some of the Sand Demons bikers, a local swoop gang: the droid takes one of the leather jackets and wears it. In Bestine, they hit the cantina, where the chiss is apporached after a while by an older human gentleman, that is none other than her former professor of espionage in the Imperial Accademy, an ISB. He forces her into a deal, to recover some data from the capitol building in Bestine, in exchange for the safety of her sister and father. They then got caught in a crossfire between the two underground factions that are trying to take over Bestine, the Hutts and the Exchange. They narrowly avoid death as the Hutts recognize the bounty and ambush them. The following day, they are going to a merchant to get supplies to find whatever intel is hidden in the capitol building, but get approached by a couple of the same gang members, who recognize that the droid is wearing one of their jacked. Poor rolls lead to a fight that kills the gang members and have the party get another 2 jackets. They now want to infiltrate the gang and use it against the Empire that is still present on Tatooine apparently.
They arrive at the hideout, that is located outside Bestine, at around 8 am: most of the gang is "not fast-thinking" at the moment, recovering from booze and the night before. They go into it and hand over the supplies the other 2 real gang member were supposed to buy at the merchant. They try to pass a members there, and roughly succeed, but then head outside to tinker with the gang swoop bikes, removing fuel from the bikes. They get spotted by a gang member, and try to persuade him, saying something like "The boss has sent us to do this". Too bad that I rolled on a random table and got 99, so they're saying this to the de facto boss of the gang. "So you're telling me that I've sent you to do this?" replied the leader, a Klatooinian. Chaos ensues and another combat starts. The Leader dies after 2 rounds, but then the gangs start coming out from the hideout.
Now, bomber wookie made another, bigger bomb this morning. After a Nat 1 attempt that exploded just outside the tent, waking up everyone else, she built this thing she called 'Lil Destroyer'. This thing was pretty powerful, dealing 4d8+1d4 in a 20ft radius. She blows up 6 gang members and the explosion shakes the whole place. The gang inside is scared shitless, so the seize the moment and fool them into thinking the Empire was attacking. The Empire has officially retreated from Tatooine, but some remnants may be still there. They run with them and assume control of them.
They need another place to stay and regroup while and fooling the gang, but stumble across a cave system that leads them into finding big Durindfire crystals (and also one for a lightsaber). Here, there is a mushy and slippery wall they have to descend, they fail and fall. They take a bit of damage, recover the crystals and come up. Of the cave system, they didn't check one (one had a bigger cave with the cristals, the other had a bit of water). I describe to them as this tunnel begins to tilt down pretty harsh after a bit, at around a 45 degree angle: they don't see the end. They are weighting their options, while the droid goes "I'll see you there!" and jumps in it, super mario bros slide style.
I was taken aback. WTF?? I was flustered: should I kill him? What do I do? If I go by the layout of the caves, the pc is dead.
In the end, I decided to kill the pc. I don't want to ruin the game and all, but a) it would have died and b) throwing yourself on a slide, while inside a cave system and you don't see its end, it's waaaay too much reckless. So I start describing how he starts picking up speed, and the slope starts getting more and more steep. He replies by yelling to the wookie and the chiss "I'm not there yet!". I keep describing as now he does not feel the slide anymore and is tumbling down in the void, untill ... splat. The party hears like a rock falling in the distance, as the droid take 10d6 fall damage, and is outright killed, as the character goes to negative full HP.
We all laughed soo hard at this for like 10 minutes. The player didn't want to believe it. One of them goes "His last words were "I'm not there yet!" hahahah".
But wait, there's more: he also had 4 big ass Durindfire crystals and 3k credits with him. So a big chunk of the party loot is now basically lost in that cave.
This campaign is all over the place, but we're all having mad fun.

2023.06.04 23:07 Squarrots Getting players out of 5e mindset of attack
So my players have always been used to 5e and Pathfinder and we're also pavlovianly trained to not think outside of the box by our old GM. What I want is to teach them the old ways encouraged in OSR.
Now, we've played with me as the GM for quite a bit now and it seems that no matter what I do, I can't break them out of it. They don't check for traps, listen into rooms, plan ahead, heed telegraphed danger, etc. Just walk, punch, walk, punch, can I rest now?
We're pretty deep into Shadowdark and I have them travelling through an underground city on their way to my first big campaign idea. A couple of them have been through a few characters and the other 2 still have their starters (the more tactically sound ones).
The end of the last session had them heading toward an extremely dangerous place (other paths are available) full of necrotic spiders and zombified humans meant to turn the players back or be approached with thought and care. (Kind of like they've booted up Dark Souls for the first time and headed straight toward the catacombs). Unfortunately, they've rushed in and are now at that freeze frame moment of "I bet you're wondering how I got here" as they're in a dead end with a dozen, very dangerous zombies heading toward them. This is looking like a TPK.
I've given them the OSR 5 Mantras of One Torch Left, both as a read aloud and an available resource. I've also straight up said at the table that I'd like to see more planning go into actions.
It sucks because the players who still have their starters are generally smart about things while the other two are about to get them killed.
How can I encourage them to retreat and rethink their approach before this happens?

I just completed a mutated bloodveld task on mobile and I’ve ran into an issue with the ground items popout. I’ve got my minimum value to show up set at 2000gp. Stuff like adamant chainbody, mithril platebody, etc did show up. However, the x30 blood runes drop did not show up, neither did the ensouled heads. These drop are >2000 however. Am I missing something in the settings?

| Been nostalgically revisiting my DnB collection recently and wanted to add to my collection. Ordered these off Discogs and couldn’t be happier. Ordered Buried Treasure Volume 1 & 2 direct from Mr. Offshore Recordings himself, DJ Clever. He is an awesome dude and threw in some old school BBS and OSR stickers which was an amazing gift. I already had the digital version of Buried Treasure V1 and the CD of Troubled Waters, but wanted a new hard copies just to have. I had never heard Buried Treasure V2 until now and I love it so much. Just wanted to share this score with fellow DnB heads who will appreciate this as much as I do. 🤓 submitted by thenewguy_intown to DnB [link] [comments] |

2023.06.02 09:27 LuigiMPLS In the last month or so, Jagex has invited other content creators to check out/consult things besides Necromancy in RS3. I'd like a more open channel of communication if possible.
Over the last month Jagex invited a handful of talented
content creators (as listed here) to come out to Jagex HQ to check out and play test the new Necromancy skill as a first look.
However, not really mentioned, but the OSRS side of Jagex also invited at least one, if not more OSRS creators to check out the new content recently for their version of the game as well. I can recall, but cannot find the clip of Purespam commenting on the rerelease of Bounty Hunter off the top of my head, however here is
proof of him going to Jagex HQ to at least provide feedback as one of multiple playtesters on the upcoming Desert Treasure 2 content in a similar time frame. Josh Strife Hayes is an established MMO reviewer that was also invited to Jagex during the same time frame, unannounced to the public,
to give constructive criticism of the early game of RS3 ahead of the Necromancy release (
even getting a selfie with our man Waydots.) He speaks openly in that video about how passionate and talented and phenomenal the content creators visiting Jagex were doing high level things. However he was the only one asking questions at the lower level that no one thinks about. He pretty much nailed the head on what makes
RS3 combat suck to learn and why EoC pretty much failed us when it comes to a tutorial on the intricacies of how combat works.
Now keep in mind, I'm a 20 year old veteran, w/ 5.6b xp, so I'm no newb to this game, so I understand how difficult it would be to integrate tutorial island into the Burthrope pathing system into trying to explaining the EoC combat system into a tutorial might be. That's impossible. You want to try and explain the basic concept of skills into the game (ie woodcutting->fishing->firemaking->cooking), try and explain that it's a sandbox MMO, then explain how complex the combat can be (stuns, bleeds, adrenaline, thresholds, ults, etc), and I don't know how that's possible to streamline that all in one encompassing "tutorial".
So, the point of this post? I was hoping some of the community managers could fill us in of any progress made by meeting with people like Josh Strife Hayes and any if their meetings helped them gain insight on how to grow the game or if their input has made any sort of difference and if so, how.
If not, was there was anyone who could help with making combat easier to understand besides sticking us with a basic revo bar and saying "this is why the things are this way" and skipping over all the reasons to pay attentions to stuns/bleeds or when/why you should use defensive abilities. You're never really taught why you should use them or when. How could you incorporate these ideas into a tutorial of combat and when and why you should use them in a teaching/tutorial capacity? Prime example, I'm a Comp'd player who is 200m in all skills and I've still to this day never learned the timing or use of the Resonance ability. That should be an issue of concern.
In conclusion, pardon my ramblings. Jmods, if you see this, great. I hope to hear back from you. If not, I get it, please continue to be the rockstars you are.

2023.06.02 01:01 OddInnRusKeyParJen DxWrapper killed Oblivion entirely
Idk how had this happened but still:I used dxwrapper with dxwrapper.dll and ddraw.dll and toggled on d3d9 feature. After that my game collapsed on load before main menu.
Before I inserted dxwrapper everything was fine, I want to underline that.
I deleted dxwrapper entirely and game still crashed (!). Crashlogger said that the problem is in oblivion exe file.
For several times i deleted EXE and oblivion launcher exe and everything was almost the same but after that I could go futher to main menu but game failed to load the game on 1\4 loading bar momentum.
I returned dxwrapper and tried to manipulate with its options. I've found that there is an incompatibility between dxw and OSR (oblivion stutter remover) and if I delete OSR I can make it futher to actually load the game.
But there was even more weird stuff: PC's head was strangely distorted as if smb tried to make a usual for oblivion funny ugly face with fat cheeks and extremely saturated color of skin. And UI was distorted completely: brown text without any UI sheet.
Of course I changed nothing in UI before! So I have no clue what's going on.
After some toggling of options in dxwr game suddenly crashed and now its crashes permanently even before main menu. Reverting to old settings of dxwr changes nothing.
If somebody can explain at least something of this extermely strange behavior I would be appreciate that because I am clueless...
I have AMD system with additional Intel core if it helps.

2023.06.02 01:00 Pipenguim Make Chat/Quest Text Easier To Read
I have difficulty reading in general, and the font used in game is really bothering me and actually making my head hurt. I would swap to a dyslexia friendly font, but that does not seem like a possibility in the game. Is there any way to make the text easier to read? I went through all the settings both in Runelite and in OSRS, and I couldn't find anything that helped with that.
I really want to enjoy the game, but this is really making my experience a lot worse, since it makes it physically difficult to play. Is there any way I can make it easier for me?

2023.06.01 22:32 Wamblingshark Returning player after many years looking for direction so I don't start over with a new email again.
Hi there. Aside from like a month in 2020 and another month in like 2018 I haven't really played since OSRS. One of the things that prevents me from getting back into the game is being overwhelmed with all my stuff, not remembering my progression, what I was doing, and what I should do next.
Because of this in the past when I've returned to the game I make a new account so I can start over a relearn the game. I don't want to do that this time.
Would love advice for finding direction/setting goals, remembering what things in my inventory are even for, knowing what kind of daily stuff there might be to do if any..
Also treat me like a newb. I was never an expert at the game. Mostly just mined a bunch and sold/crafted stuff. Didn't start bothering with quests until 2020.
I think I suffered from a lack of direction when I played in the past as well. I'm returning now to be able to mine or something while I do my data entry job (I'm not slacking! It's just that my eyes glaze over and I start to space out if I'm not multitasking.. ) so actually...
Bonus question: are there any activities other than mining that I do l can do while tabbed out of the game?
Sorry if this seems like a disjointed mess of a request for advice. Head is a little foggy today.

2023.05.31 19:03 ThatWaterAmerican 40-Year-Old OSR Guys Bully an Actual Child
When I was about 8-10 years old, my mom begged my dad to let me play D&D 3.5e with his regular group. I was never told how to play. They just gave me a rogue character sheet and sat me at the table. I was in way over my head but I was having a good time, even though I didn’t know what I was doing.
What I didn’t know until years later was that the other players said I was ruining the game (I don’t blame them for that tbh I literally did not know what I was doing). I’m sure this story would be very different from their perspective.
So, I think it was the third session I got up to use the bathroom. When I came back, the DM said that my character had triggered a trap and died. I asked if there was anything anyone could do.
One of the characters… cast animate dead on me. And my character rose up as a zombie that I was allowed to control. They said I had to follow their orders and that zombies can’t talk. That meant I couldn’t do anything except roll dice in combat. And everyone laughed at me.
As a child being bullied by five 40-year-old men at a stranger’s house, I started crying because I didn’t even know how my character died and obviously, I did not want him to be a zombie.
My dad told me to calm down and the other guys started teasing me. Just being straight up mean. My dad sat there and stared at me as his friends called me names and made snarky comments, which made me cry more. Which made my dad take me outside and tell me to calm down or he'd call my mom to pick me up.
My zombified character survived two combat encounters and died during a big fight against kobolds. The guys told me there was nothing they could do because zombies can’t be resurrected again. And so, I sat at the table for several hours, not allowed to do anything but watch.
After that session, I was not invited back. To this day, my dad has never talked to me about it. And I only found out how the other players felt from my mom over a decade later.
I fully acknowledge that I was most likely annoying and ruining the game for these OSR guys, but I wish my dad had talked to me and taught me to play the game instead of finding a creative way to make it so I couldn’t speak ,and gave me a ticking clock before I was out of the game.

2023.05.30 18:33 Angelzodiac Bad Luck Prevention System
Personally I find that the capability of people to go so dry in OSRS is such a detriment to the game. This game ultimately is about setting goals and making progress towards obtaining that goal. In my opinion, the fact that you are able to go infinitely dry at a drop without making progress is against the spirit of those core principles of OSRS.
My suggestion is to use the same system as Vorkath's head or at the very least the Elidinis Thread/Jewels from ToA at every drop in the game. If things were to be made guaranteed like the Vorkath's head I personally would not support anything lower than twice the drop rate for non-raids and triple the drop rate for raids. In my mind it would be something like 1-2x drop rate for guaranteed drops outside of raids and 2-3x drop rate for raids. In regards to raids, I would think this system would work best if KC itself was ignored and only purples were tracked (i.e you would need ~69-104 purples from CoX to guarantee a tbow.) After receiving a drop for the first time, this system should be disabled for that drop entirely.
Below are some examples of how this system could work in practice and how many KC you would need to green log the encounter:
- GWD 1.5x rate: 762 per boss ignoring shards, 1,143 green log
- NEX 2x rate: 1,548 trio without hilt, 3,096 green log. 10,320 and 20,640 KC for the same in 20 man masses
- Alchemical Hydra 2x rate: 2,002 without dragon throwables, 4,002 for green log
- CoX 2x rate: ~69 purples, ~1,870
- ToA 3x rate: 72 purples, ~1739 KC 300s, ~849 KC 400s, ~557 KC 500s (all solo)
- ToB 2.5x rate: ~47.5 purples, 1,729 KC 4 man normal mode
I opted to ignore pets but 3-4x drop rates for them would work good enough. As you can see from above, these numbers are killcounts that the majority will never get to. Some stats from the dry calculator from the wiki:
- ~0.67% of people will go 5x dry for a drop
- ~1.82% of people will go 4x dry for a drop
- ~4.96% of people will go 3x dry for a drop
- ~8.18% of people will go 2.5x dry for a drop
- ~13.5% of people will go 2x dry for a drop
- ~22.3% of people will go 1.5x dry for a drop
- ~36.8% of people will go 1x dry for a drop
As you can see from above, if bosses start at 1.5x dry this system will only benefit the 22.3% unluckiest people. If bosses instead started at 2x dry with this system, only the unluckiest 13.5% will benefit.
I'm not expecting people to be extremely receptive of this idea as I know there are counterpoints that people do find valid. Feel free to comment below with your ideas about all of this and tell me what you think. I just wanted to plant this seed in people to see if it will grow to anything meaningful. Thanks for reading <3

2023.05.30 07:16 Additional-Handle-55 New to RPG’s and OSR
Hi y’all! So I’ve been a wargamer for 20 years but never played a rpg till last Friday. Im hooked! A friend mentioned in passing I should look up OSR, I’m now way over my head lol! Can I use 5e rules for OSR material? Or should I be looking at other rulesets? And if so which ones? There’s so many out there, I’m not sure what to get, advanced dnd? 1e?2e? 3.5? Dungeon crawl classics? Old school essentials looks nice…? Which rulesets would y’all recommend for someone just getting started?

2023.05.29 20:39 bootstrap_mcghee just woke up from a terrible nightmare!
I look up at my computer monitor and see some weird green program pop up beside runelite and immediately overides my actions it also starts messaging players who's names i've never seen before. Whoever or whatever was controlling my account starts running towards the bank, in some unknown osrs location (looked like an edgeville bank in the desert) and starts taking out alll my best items. While all this chaos is happening, i'm scrambling to click esc and exit the the game but even my mouse is not responding! I rush to unplug my computer from the power cord but before everything shuts off i wake up!(in sweat)
*big sigh of relief*
has anyone else every had a runescape nightmare?!
also i think what partly caused this dream is me recently trying to fix my collection log plugin and when i clicked on an option it said it would share my ip with a website which i declined to do. ever since then i've been slightly paranoid and i guess sub consciously brewing up getting hacked thoughts in the back of my head!
