2023.06.10 05:49 Usernameisnowthis My Mother is Sick and I Can’t Help

My mother was emotional neglectful, scared of medicine/food past what’s the legal baseline, loves pushing my buttons, and incredibly paranoid. Up until recently she was blocked on everything and I was having a positive breakdown relearning who I am.
In the last few months she’s had a full devolution and it’s not good. She’s digging up the floor board to get to a “stadium”, having conversations with her dead father in an empty room, and most recently tried to run into the ocean fully clothed and punched a lifeguard leading to her second 5150 in 2 weeks.
She was released from the first AMA and decided to Marie Kondo the emotions away, when that didn’t work she’s gotten to the point my father has been calling the sherif 2-4x a day.
My sister is in a plane flying there to help her and she and my fiancé keep asking if I’m sure I don’t want to be there.
But I don’t. I really truly do not want to be there. She was a monster in my childhood and if she’s as scary and angry as she was then, I don’t want to be near her. But I can’t help but feel like a terrible person? Shouldn’t I want to be there for her?
They keep telling me “it’s the illness it’s not her” but if half of her symptoms are magnified personality traits she already had, isn’t it still kinda her? Or are you saying people who are bipolar are only themselves when they’re either manic or depressive and the rest of the time they’re an imposter?

2023.06.10 05:48 Dead-Bowl-4572 Seaside (Season Four, Part Thirty) Getting Comfortable

"Best sleep I've ever had in a year," I said, yawning as I sat up in my cot and looked out the window.
Thankfully the room Kyle and I were handcuffed and locked in had a small porthole in the wall, but the glass was eight inches thick, making it nearly impossible for me to punch my way out.
"Fuck, you're awake?" Kyle asked, as he did push ups on the floor. "I've been trying my old prison workout. Hits different."
"Yeah, well I haven't been to prison yet, so I wouldn't know."
"It's also a huge fucking shame that Task Force Nova Compass Hunter hasn't found us yet. Thought those guys would be coming over here, guns blazing by now."
"Same, but looks like these guys are the real deal anyway. Can't wait for the super-informative job opportunities we'll be faced with today."
Someone slammed on the door, and after the beep of an electronic keycard, Dennis unlocked the door, backed by a dozen guards in riot gear, and Lucy.
"You can chill with the security," I said. "We won't pull anything."
"Correction, you won't do shit." Kyle said, wriggling his wrists from his handcuffs as he jumped up, kicking Dennis in the solar plexus and sending him flying.
The room went fucking wild as I sat back and watched, while Kyle started brawling with a dozen men at once, as his face and head were battered with nightsticks and tasers. He waded through half of them until Lucy finally jumped in, pulling him off and picking him up with one hand before slamming him against the wall, choking him. Kyle kicked her in the face and cracked her nose, and she yelped in pain before throwing him against his cot.
"You like that, yeah?" Kyle said, waving his fists in the air. "Roger, c'mere. Back me up."
"Nah, I know exactly how this is gonna end."
Kyle jumped and drop-kicked the fucking mob of guards at once, planting both of his feet into a riot shield and sending the crowd soaring.
"Why aren't they shooting at us?!" I yelled.
"We're too valuable to shoot, dumbass. Now break your handcuffs and start fighting."
I sighed, telling myself I would wait ten more seconds, and if nobody beat the shit out of Kyle by then, I would jump in to help.
"ROGER!!" He yelled.
Luci picked Kyle up and slammed him into the wall, and stared directly into his eyes, and grabbed his arms as he slowly fell woozy and slumped over.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck." I said, panicking. "What did you do?! Did you fucking kill him?!"
"Relax, he's alive. I just 'put him to sleep'."
"You know, that's the expression most people use to say they killed someone."
I slumped off my cot, standing up and stretching, yawning as I watched Luci and the guards drag Kyle into a cell somewhere below decks.
"So… he's like, really not dead, right?"
"Like I said, he's just fine. I can influence people's minds and emotions by touching them."
"So what's going on with me then?" I asked.
"Since you didn't go apeshit like your buddy," Dennis said, standing up and groaning as he rubbed his head. "We'll proceed as planned. You'll be going on an operation with our combatives team."
"Is Kyle coming with?" I asked.
"Fuck no, who knows what that unpredictable shit is going to do."
"I'm not going if Kyle's not going."
Dennis tensed.
"Roger, I'll talk with my superiors and ask them what they think."
"Sounds fair. Should I get ready to go in a few hours?"
"Yeah, I'll come by here to pick you up near the evening. And, I'll tell you what came of Kyle."
"Thanks."
I lied back down on my cot, taking a deep breath and falling back to sleep, waiting for the knock at the room's door calling me to action.

***

"It's time," he said, as he walked in.
"Fuck it, let's go." I said, stretching and yawning as I stood up.
"You haven't changed out of your fatigues, so I'll just give you the same kit and rifle we picked you up with, all freshly cleaned and loaded. Of course since you're still a high-risk person, we're not giving them to you until the mission officially starts. Follow me."
I got out and walked with him into the corridors, ducking under the steel pipes of the ship until we finally took a short flight of stairs to the main deck, overlooking the ocean, just as the sun began to set. He took me to the side of the boat, where there was a ladder on the side of the hull of the anchored ship, leading down to several airboats filled with armed men. I noticed Kyle was in one of the boats, having no weapons or gear besides a helmet, plate carrier, and a flashlight. He was handcuffed and his feet were shackled to a hundred-pound weight. Dennis tossed my gear and weapons down into the boat, as I climbed down the hull and jumped into the airboat.
"They'll guide you through the mission," Dennis said, before walking off.
The dozen men sitting in the airboat with me all had assault rifles, wearing balaclavas and dark camoflauge under plate carriers stuffed with magazines.
"Listen," one of the men, supposedly the leader, said as the boat started and zoomed away. "Our main objective is to meet with a demon to exchange the skull of one of the Five Leviathans for a demonic artifact we're selling. It might be a setup, so we're keeping our numbers high and risk low. Stay quiet, and don't even fucking think of running, we'll shoot you if you even breathe suspiciously. If you do manage to get away, we put an ankle monitor on while you were sleeping that will explode if you take it off or disable it."
"That's comforting," I replied. "How the fuck did you get a skull of one of the Five Leviathans? Which one is it?"
"Don't worry about it. Focus on shutting the fuck up and paying attention, genius."
Kyle and I sat across from each other in the airboat, sandwiched on either side by the armed mercenaries, as he kept trying to blink at me in morse code while whistling, but he stopped that when he got pistol-whipped. Our boat droned on and on until finally, I caught sight of a small, rocky island covered in trees in the horizon, rapidly approaching in the falling sunlight. The lack of tropical vegitation combined with the weather of our surroundings led me to believe we weren't anywhere near the equator. Most likely in the Pacific or Atlantic, I had gotten familiar to the Northern seas during the months I had spent on battleships during the holy war, as well as my time studying as a marine biologist.

Prologue

Scene 1

This is our first introduction to the Snake storyline. It consists of a train of refugee children who are fleeing the provinces of Kolanse and are heading west. We are at the Elan Plain and the leader of this column of children is the oldest boy there, Rutt, aged about 13 or 14. He carries a small baby called Held while making sure she is protected from the sun by wrapping her well. Most of our PoV here is Badalle- a girl with green eyes and a way with words. The landscape is very desolate and it looks like Rutt is surprised every morning that they 'still live.'
Badalle describes various people/animals etc using unusual words. You can figure out most on your own, but could be a little frustrating, so if you would like to know-
Ribbers are dogs, Fathers are adults, Quitters/bones skins/Inquisitors are Forkrul Assail
She has come up from the south along Stump Road to join the rest of the Snake. She considers Rutt as the head of the snake and its fangs too. None of the children ask him where they are headed because it is the belief that he knows that is important.
We get the PoV of a 14 year old Visto who knows what the Fathers do to the children they steal away at night, because he has seen small bones in their campfires. The boy is full of a parasite called Satra Riders which would sooner or later burst out and kill him. He is impatient for the relief of death, and hopes atleast a ribber eats him and gets infected.
At the end of the day, Badalle looks back at the line of bodies of dead children they have left behind. The Snake of ribs is called Chal Managal in the Elan tongue. Don't skip her poems.

Scene 2

In the Wastelands, there is a nest of K'Chain Che'Malle called Ampelas Rooted. Our PoV here is the last surviving Elan tribal called Kalyth. When her settlement was attacked she fled the scene and feels guilty about her selfishness in abandoning her family. Alonmgside, we get description of this nest where the lower level is called Root, then Feed (where food is grown in the form of fungi and orthen- a type of rodents) then the Womb (where young ones undergo surgeries and are differentiated into factions according to the needs of the Nest), then to Heart which is guarded by Ve'Gath soldiers (these are purely for warfare and the Matron has been producing a lot of them, indicating that war is coming soon). From there she moves to Eyes, Inner Keep, Acyl Nest - home of the Matron. The final guard she meets is Brenigan, a 1000 year old J'an sentinel.
Sag'Churok and Gunth Mach have returned, and they report failure. Redmask was not the correct choice, and that Kalyth, who is acknowledged as a Destriant to the K'Chain, has made an error in choosing him. She, alongwith a small group of Guardians, is instructed to join this round of Seeking. She refuses but the Matron is adamant that they will find a Mortal Sword and Shield Anvil among humans. The adventure party consists of Sag'Churok, Gunth Mach, 2 more K'ell Hunters and a Shi'gal Assassin. The addition of the Assassin probably indicates that the Matron means business this time.
Quick note about the Shi'gal- there are always three present with the Matron because 2 alone might conspire among themselves and kill the Matron or each other. Sending away one of the Assassins is a huge risk, so maybe the Matron is descending into madness.
By spending all this time with the K'Chain, Kalyth has been given the gifts of their language and a higher percipience through oils.
Shi'gal Gu'Rull is sure that the Matron Acyl is insane. He considers humans, especially Kalyth, as weak. Since they returned empty handed from the west (Redmask), and the North is a realm of ice, they are to journey South. He takes off to do some advance scouting. He is flying out of Ampelas after 8 short centuries.

Scene 3

At the Wastelands, a ghost travels with a small group. They eat stringy meat from scaled rodents and a type of rhizan. As a ghost he flits from one person to the next and finds innate resolve and strength.
Sheb declares that all empty lands are useless and one day all cities should be merged into one. Last, who is a farmer, says that there won't be food if there are no farms. Before they can argue, Asane tells them not to fight. Sheb yells at her and Nappet defends her. He threatens to cut out his tongue because he knows nobody would object. Rautos (yes, familiar name) complains about his wife. Breath thinks he killed his wife by holding her underwater and drowning her. Drowning seeme to be her pet subject. At a distance they notice a massive narrow edifice. Taxilian (yes, another familiar name) wants to go check it out. The ghost is content to go alongwith them. He finds that Taxilian's curiosity is strong enough to overcome any misgivings from the others.
Now, you can go back and read this section again or click here to get an explanation. Or keep reading if you like a challenge.
the capemoths overhead note a lone, green skinned figure who talks with seven voices. He carries a sword but is naked and he is lost, maybe for weeks, maybe months. Many of us miss this and so the rest of the Ghost sections can be very confusing

Scene 4

After a long time we meet Heboric. He has plenty of visions.
  1. A short tail K'Chain looking at a dragon nailed to a huge wooden lattice, with the nails painted a "rust colour". The dragon is denied death and has been bleeding and suffering, while the short tail seems satisfied.
  2. Two wolves watch him from a ridge as he walks towards a number of statues in the distance.
  3. Overhead there are drifting stars from which faint voices are heard. As he stares he is unbalanced and floats up.
  4. Looking down, he sees more stars which give up a dozen suns of green fire that grew in size and sound as it neared him.
  5. He sees Fener, a cast down god who is trapped like him. Both are in the way of the jade suns. Heboric accepts all of it as "The Abyss cares nothing for us."
To end this prologue, here is a quote from Heboric, speaking in the voice of "his enemy", i.e. the Abyss.
Behold, my friends, I am justice.
And when at last we meet, you will not like it.
And if irony awakens in you at the end, see me weep with these tears of jade, and answer with a smile.
If you’ve the courage.
Have you, my friends, the courage?
What are your expectations and misgivings now that we are in the final stretch?
Next week we read Chapters 1 & 2 only

2023.06.10 05:45 kalajpizza Wife (39F) doesn't like me (37M) hanging out with friends or doing really anything social outside of planned events like dinner parties or birthdays.

This has been an issue sorta for a while but it recently came to a head. Me and my wife had very different upbringings. She came from the suburbs and I was raised in brooklyn, very different families and cultures and attitudes towards things. That being said we of course ended up falling in love and getting married, so its not like we were totally incompatible lol. This is not some major issue between us or anything, but it has always bugged me, and its clearly always bugged her.

We have very different views on socializing, and this became very apparent when we moved to Brooklyn from where we were in westchester around 2 years ago. She just doesn't really 'get' the idea of hanging out. Like, just casually socializing with friends for a few hours. To her, socializing is planned ahead of time and usually a more formal official event, like a dinner party or something. I have some friends in the neighborhood who have introduced me to other people in the area and I see them and we sometimes hang out at the corner bar or cafe or in the park or on someones stoop. Its just pretty normal stuff, its not like we are doing drugs or binge drinking. But she just cant really comprehend it, she thinks of it as immature or trashy or something. She is fine with the people themselves mostly, and its not as if she thinks this is 'taking time away from her' or something (thats never been a complaint). She legit just hates the idea of it. One issue we had was me and mike and his friend were hanging out on a bench just talking one day after I walked the dogs, maybe for like an hour or so, and she saw us, and she said to me later that we looked like a bunch of unemployed street losers hanging out with nothing to do. She apologized right away and laughed at how terrible that sounded, but I could tell she didn't think of it as totally a joke.

When I go out with her friends, they aren't like... upper class or anything. But they are way more formal in a weird way. Like socializing to them is just a once every month or two get together at some restaurant or something where they dress up a bit. Sometimes a baby shower or wedding. If my wife does ever have people over, she makes a huge deal out of it and lays trays of food out and lights candles and has to set the lights to a specific color and allllll this stuff, as if the simple act of having anyone over is some huge formal event. When we lived in the suburbs this was pretty much the norm too. Very different social culture there overall, people didn't really casually socialize much at all.

We've talked about this and she kinda seems to not want to talk about it very much. I honestly think there is a bit of shame there for both herself and for me. In the times that she does hang out, she always seems incredibly self conscious, especially considering so much of our hanging out is in a public space. But it just seems weird that she cant just look around at the neighborhood and see that everybody else does this too.

She is just... not really willing to talk about this in an honest fashion, and it kind of bugs me that she toes the line of acting frustrated at it but then acting totally fine with it anytime I bring it up. Not sure how to proceed. What do I do?
TL;DR - - Wife doesn't like to casually socialize, she prefers more formal social events. She thinks of casual socialization as pretty trashy and immature.

2023.06.10 05:44 Deep_Photograph4433 debating quitting (need advice!)

so i started working at a chipotle near me a couple of weeks ago, and since i started working there's been a lot of red flags. first off, i never went through any formal training procedures (though i'm not even sure chipotle has them?) like a store walk-through, training videos, and of that. immediately on my first shift (i've been working prep) i was put onto the fryer to make chips even though i was never taught/told how to properly use the fryer. i have food-service experience but i've never had to work on a fryer or anything, and i was literally just told about the salt/lime that had to be added once they were done. i've ALSO never been formally trained on how to use chipotle's register system or the menu. today i was told to run both line and register while my coworker (who had been on line) was on her break. i have NEVER been taught about the procedures for each item, or how to properly go through the process of making an order.

on top of this, i feel very unsupported by my coworkers and management team. just as an example, when i asked a coworker a question about the register, he literally rolled his eyes at me as if it was supposed to be an obvious answer. i've gotten similar responses from other workers, and management hasn't been too receptive about my asking for help/training.

i guess i'm wondering if this is the experience for all new employees (not a lot of training) or if i'm missing something. because at this point i'm feeling like this job isn't worth my time if my concerns aren't even being heard, and i think i would easily find work somewhere else. does anyone have any advice? sorry i know this was a lot but i'm feeling really anxious about all of this.

2023.06.10 05:43 Standard-Ad-8151 i5 - High CPU usage and Random High Fan RPM's

Hi all, I bough a CPU i5 12400F, 16gb Kingston Ram and a Gigabyte Motherboard B760M DS3H DDR4 to upgrade my system.
What happens its that many times (every day) the CPU usage is huge - very above normal - even not using heavy programs that justifies that. Many times, I check task manager, and the CPU usage, is very high, when I was just on Windows folders, and browsing - nothing more. It reaches easily 60/70% CPU usage, and sometimes even 80/90/100% with no reason. Different task's, makes the CPU reaches almost the limit - check the pics. Even "Windows explorer" task, sometimes reaches 50-60% CPU usage, I’ve check that many times on Task manager. This happen with no apparent reason, I do not use heavy software. And with the exact same kind of usage, with my last PC which were half powerful and with half ram ( a 9400F with 8Gb Ram) Never had this issues, neither, a so high CPU usage. Since this CPU is double powerful in all aspects, wasn't expectable that the CPU, on the same kind of use, works with less effort and have less CPU usage?! Even the Windows Restart's/Boot, were more quick with my oldest Setup than on this Setup ( and I’ve already activate the Fast Boot on Bios). The only difference were, that my previous motherboard was an MSI ( a very low end H310M PRO-M2 PLUS model), and this actual one its a "new" Gigabyte B760M DS3H DDR4 model. Could the motherboard model/Brand are making all of this underperformance and issues ? At normal use, i can say, that i can't notice any kind of performance improvement with this new Setup ( that is twice powerful) I only do feel a better performance on games, but I’m a casual gamer, and i almost play CS:GO, and less more. The real difference is that with this Cup/mobo, anything I do reaches high CPU and energy usage very easily.
I have Windows Fresh install, no Virus, Adware. Bios Updated to last firmware. No background running programs. Just Windows 10 64bit with the essential's.
Other problem is the High CPU FAN RPM's ( and noise, obviously ). I know that the Stock Fans were not the most quiet, but for many years, i never bought an aftermarket Cooler, since I don't use heavy software, and even gaming I don’t play heavy CPU games, so the stock cooler is more than enough for the needs, and I’ve checked a review/noise test comparison on YouTube, and my Fan doesn't perform near close to that: https://youtu.be/yhKBABCfmpk?t=240 , and note, the CPU and cooler its the same. I wish, my Fan run so smoothly and constant, and specially so quiet like the one on the video.
This video show's a "little" of the random RPM's i am talking about, with windows idle, closed programs, just opening/switching between folder's, but I can say that usually is worst than the video, and phone mic it not capture the best sound, personally the FAN noise is much more aggressive, and usually the RPM'S are worst, (VERY) annoying and uncomfortable, Specially at night : https://streamable.com/523h6e
The CooleFan just ramp up quickly to High RPM's, by no reason and completely randomly, like if i were using the CPU with really heavy programs. Sometimes by just opening a Browser tab or a Folder is enough to listen the Fan ramping up Hard - what its not normal. And the most weird, is that the Fan randomly changes RPM's frequently. By itself, the CPU CooleFan is not quiet, but actually is running very above normal and making a lot of noise - much above the usual. The Fan could be working at 1500RPM'S, but by no reason, changes to 2000/2200RPM'S, sometimes 3000RPM'S - while using Windows - once again; no heavy programs, just windows, folders, and browsing. Fan randomly and constantly changes RPM'S , never stays idle, like the CPU are. At night, is almost impossible, stay with the PC turned ON.
Its not the 1st time, that i have the PC turned on, but I’m not using it. I sit on my bedroom, at some PC distance, and I listen the FAN ramping up Hard... like !?!? I'm not even using the PC lol its on idle, there are no programs running. How the Fan ramp up like if i was using the CPU heavily ? PS: I have my PC Case well good refrigerated ( tbh, due to this problem, and to test, the PC Case is opened - No differences ).
PS: I configured and tested FAN Profiles on Bios, and its on a Silent/Manual smooth Fan curve, even so the result, is what I’ve explained. Since, if I let the default Profile "Normal Fan", the problem is even worst, and the noise its impossible to stay near the PC, it's almost an airplane noise. But even with a very smooth Fan curve, I can hear the fan a LOT . But the Random RPM's ramp up's and down, even with a manual smooth Fan curve remains exactly the same. The Fan constantly changes RPM's (hardly), looks like and F1 car motor on a race lol.
I spend lot of hours testing ( I have some IT experience ), searching, reading, and I cannot find any solution, neither what could be the problem root. To me, should be a faulty motherboard, or CPU, but I make tests to the CPU, and on all of them everything seems ok, so, i think that the problem could be the motherboard. I've contacted Intel and nothing were detected. I've contacted Gigabyte and they just simple ignore the questions, they just told me to take the board to warranty – No troubleshooting, no help, nothing !
The questions is to, trying to know the cause of this issues, since I still have the chance to return mobo and CPU, and change for a better and stable hardware choices. But firstly I need to know and understand which device is causing troubles, if the CPU, if the Board. And my budget it's not very high, so, I would like to replace the part that is causing issues.
Do you consider Gigabyte a good motherboard brand for low/mid end range? It's the 1st time i give a chance to Gigabyte, usually i buy MSI, and honestly i was happy with motherboard's, and with the UEFI BIOS . But honestly i doesn't like the BIOS at all, and with this issues, makes me very sceptical to Gigabyte, at the same time I also feel like this motherboard doesn't have much stability ( i could be wrong). I bought this Gigabyte Mobo due to the price point, and they bring heatsink on (half) VRM and a heatsink to the SSD M.2 Nvme... Maybe i was caught by the Brand marketing. I have a Gigabyte Graphic Card and no issues, runs well. But for low/mid end motherboards, Gigabyte could not be the best option. I'm thinking to return this motherboard since i have 2more days to do it, and buy an MSI again or a Asus. But the last MSI I have was 3years ago, don't know how are they now. My last MSI was an H310M PRO-M2 PLUS, a super entry level motherboard, but always worked Flawlessly with a great performance and stability, and with a very Good UEFI BIOS and configuration options !
Is it from Windows ? Motherboard issues ? the CPU ?
If anyone got ideas, from what can be, I would appreciate. Since I search and tested everything and don't find nothing that tells me the cause.

2023.06.10 05:41 4paul I accidentally killed some baby chicks, I feel so bad, what can I do to make it right??

Weird post, not sure where/who to ask... but want some advice on "giving back", story could be graphic, not sure but here goes...
I've been feeding some roosters/baby chicks (not mine but they always come to my yard), I put a little old cat house I had in my yard with a little pillow and some food. It's been the cutest dang thing seeing the mom and babies walk around, eat, follow the mother, etc. Well I left for a small vacation for a week, and came back and the cat house and fallen over (strong winds when I was gone) and trapped 3 of the babies and they died (squished). I felt absolutely horrible, nearly cried, I try not to think about it which makes me think about it more, sometimes keeps me up at night, etc. I know it's just nature, and they could have died any other way (they cross the street with their mom multiple times a day and have never been hit by a car and I live on a main/busy road), but something about just seeing them there, the aftermath, something I did (not intentionally obviously) just eats me up inside.
So I feel the need to somehow make up for this, anyone have any recommendations? Like can I rescue some baby chicks, can I raise some on my own? Is it a lot of upkeep to buy a chicken house and raise some chickens? I know nothing of farming/homestead but can learn if it's easy. Maybe donate somewhere? I dunno, I just feel in my mind I need to balance the universe somehow and make this right :

2023.06.10 05:41 Standard-Ad-8151 i5 - High CPU usage and Random High Fan RPM's

2023.06.10 05:41 CodingBuizel L15 Gen 4 vs E16 (AMD)

I was thinking of getting a Thinkpad and I have settled on getting either the L15 gen 4 or the E16. Both cost nearly the same. The T series is too expensive for me. I will be using the laptop for programming, light gaming and streaming. I will not be using an external display or a dock.
Specs: L15 Gen 4 * CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 7730U Processor * RAM: 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) SO-DIMM DDR4 3200MHz * SSD: 1 TB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe Gen4 TLC Opal * Display: 39.62cms (15.6) FHD (1920 x 1080), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, 45%NTSC, 250 nits, 60Hz * Wireless: RZ616 Wi-Fi 6E 11AX (2x2) & Bluetooth® 5.1 * Ports: 2 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.0, RJ45, Headphone / mic combo, MicroSD card reader
E16 * CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 7 7730U Processor * RAM: 24 GB (8 GB Soldered DDR4 3200MHz + 16 GB SO-DIMM DDR4 3200MHz) * SSD: 1 TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 TLC Opal, Empty M.2 2242 connector * Display: 40.64cms (16) WQXGA (2560 x 1600), IPS, Anti-Glare, Non-Touch, 100%sRGB, 400 nits, Narrow Bezel, Low Blue Light * Wireless: Realtek RTL8852BE Wi-Fi 6 11AX (2x2) & Bluetooth® 5.1 * Ports: USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (full-function), USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, 2 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 1.4, Ethernet (RJ45), Headphone / mic combo
I've heard that the L series is more durable and has better build quality than the E series. Is that still true?

2023.06.10 05:41 GoatMoh Advice to make friends

Good evening y’all, I just got done with freshman year and I’ve struggled to create a decent social life for myself being a international commuter student of nearly an hour. Figured Ide put myself out there for people who would like to hang out that are going through the same things as me. Im 18 turning 19 next month, fairly active physically, love movies, cars, and various activities. Not a party person at all I’m very calm headed and I don’t drink or smoke. I don’t judge if you do though, don’t care if you’re a wonderful guy or a beautiful gal or anything else for that matter as long as you have good intentions. If you share these interests hit me a text and we’ll figure something out! 😌

2023.06.10 05:40 Unhappy_Hamster69 Is it over for me?

I (26M) grew up in a typical poor first gen viet family with all usual trauma. No privacy or boundaries, no dating until I finish my degree, no going out, no going to birthday parties. Didnt get a phone and pc until 16 and that was only because it was required for school.
At 18 I had enough and left home. I was completely socially stunted at this point and really struggled to get a job. Like at the interview they would ask how i was and i wouldn’t know how to answer or i would panic and saying something really dumb. I might aswell been mute.
HR: can you tell me about your past job experience? Me: nah past is the past, its not a good indicator of who i am now
Anyways, i managed to get shitty jobs in warehouses and factories that exploited the fuck out of me. I was making enough to live pay check to pay check working long hours everyday. I had no free time for hobbies or to improve my social skills. The only social interaction I had was at work with mainly immigrants who spoke to each other in their own language… so pretty much nil.
At 24, i got lucky and got a high paying job on an oil rig. Its a pretty masculine and racist industry. I struggled at first due to my lack of social skills and being weird (doing inappropriate stuff stemming from parents boundary issue) but had an empathetic non racist white guy who had an asian wife take me under his wing. Im now at a point now where my social skills is good enough for work. I bought my first car and learnt how to drive. Can afford gym and build muscles.
Fast forward til now, my health is good, i am going back to college for a stem degree (expected to grad at 30) so i can better work life balance. Hopefully with my degree ill be rich atleast, if i fail at everything else in life.
Kinda embarrassing but ive never been on a date or even know how to talk girls. I stopped talking to girls in like 6th grade cuz while waiting for my parents to pick me up after school i would talk to girls. My parents would embarrass me by asking the girl if she was my girlfriend. Like in 6th grade i didnt even have any attraction for girls. I didnt even know what sex was til 8th grade and thought babies came out of asses. For highschool they put in an all boys school.
Now that i have my shit kinda together i want to start dating. I dont wanna die alone and so much things i wanna do in life isnt really that great without someone that you care about. Someone that you can create and share memories with.
Im also not autistic so i have no excuse for being socially inept. Just missing out on those fundamental years in hs has caused me so many problems. I dont know how to recover from my current situation. I keep trying but things take so long to improve and im afraid ill be too old when i get my shit together.

If anyone got ideas, from what can be, I would appreciate. Since I search and tested everything and don't find nothing that tells me the cause.

2023.06.10 05:38 scaredofgirlz Grubhub won’t pay me

I’m wondering if anyone’s experienced this. I took an order from a pizza place, picked it up, and had no service on the way to the customer. I took a photo of the food delivered and left, and went to mark it as completed, but they unassigned me. I called support and they said they couldn’t do anything. Wasted an hour, and it was 20 miles so I wasted gas too. Is there anything I can do? Has anyone had this happen?

2023.06.10 05:38 Inevitable_chick Feeling burnt out, I’m tired of being a mom

So, I am a full time mom. I live with my mother since my relationship didn’t workout since I was pregnant. My mom doesn’t really like to watch my child for me to be able to go out and do anything, if she does I have to pay her. So I’m mainly stuck with my child 24/7, the father pays for groceries and the car I drive. Mainly to just have me “stuck” here. There’s so much more to the story. I think I’m depressed. My child literally does everything he’s not supposed to. Gets into everything. I’m so tired. I’m so fed. I’m tired of being a mom and being stuck in this damn life. I’m so unhappy with this. I use to be a better mom. A mom who cooked 3 meals a day for my baby. That was just months ago. Now I don’t even want to get up in the mornings. I want to put the father of my child on child support or just even get 50/50 custody. I’m tired of feeling like I’m the only parent taking care of him 24/7. My life is stuck at no career, no job, meanwhile the dad is doing amazing things for himself. Today while I was getting ready to shower my child, I lashed out. Screamed at him and pulled him and physically sat him down because I just couldn’t handle him anymore. He was literally sucking water that fell, from the floor, in the restroom next to the toilet. I don’t hit my child, I never believed in physical discipline. But the way I screamed and began crying just took over me. He looked at me in a way he has never looked at me and I couldn’t help but to cry even more because I know I’m fuc*ing up. I’m just so angry that the dad can pass by once or twice a week and share cuddles with him and laughs. Meanwhile I look like the bad parent because I’m left to deal with everything else. I’m just tired. I’m guilty. I’m tired of being a mom. I feel like a bad mom. I feel like crap. The one day I left to do something for seven hours straight. His father brought our child back and my child was literally not even a tad bit excited to see me. But grandma whom gives him candy and chips all the time, he definitely screamed of excitement when he saw her. I’m just done.

2023.06.10 05:38 Only_wish_you_knew How in H.E. Double hockey sticks do you ever get ahead?!

I (30F) am just frustrated. I don’t understand how to even begin to move forward and get ahead. Money is the worst!! I am at a big adult job now and make 65k which is the most I have ever made. It’s awesome and I love my job it does keep me busy but overall it’s great with good people. Every month I pay 3k to bills (rent, child care, utilities) this leaves me with $400-$500 every paycheck, which is the 15th and 30th of every month. I know it seems like a lot but it’s not. I have a husband (41M) who is graveyard and doesn’t make much but gets paid weekly maybe $450-$550 a week and a toddler (4M) who takes a lot of time and money obviously. Car payment is auto take out $288 and second one I try n pay $350 so we aren’t paying $680 all at once. I’ve had to take out a payday loan and it’s been eating at me. Credit cards are maxed out for gas and food and it’s hard to pay them and not use them.
I feel like I’m drowning. We barley have $15-$20 in our account after everything. I guess my question is, does it ever get better? What am I doing wrong to have it so near death every month? What in the world can I do to do better?
I was thinking of a second job but then I would never be with my kid or even sleep. I feel so torn I think I just need some personal advice on how to make it work.
Thanks 😊

2023.06.10 05:37 bowl_of_frut Currently trying to be convinced to take part 61 instead of 141

I have no flying experience and want to get my private pilot license in order to pursue my dream of being an astronaut. I've been looking at different flight schools to see how I can get it in a way that suits me and have determined that I want to take part 141 program primarily because of the cost difference compared to part 61. I contacted this flying school in NY called the Academy of Aviation and told them I wanted to do the 141 which costs only around 14,000 and then two days later he sends an email saying:
"I know we spoke about the 141 minimums, but I want you to succeed in this program and have the best possible training for your private pilot license so i changed the estimate for you to succeed in getting your PPL. This isnt the only reason why i changed estimate, the other reason is im trying to save you from spending big money. If you were to go the 141 minimum route, and if you exceed the amounted hours that are required for the part 141 minimums (35hr) then you would have to pay full retail price and that is a bit more costly then our Private Pilot License Program. So to help you succeed, and also spend less money overall I put an estimate out for our PPL Program which is more flying time, and more hands on training for you to complete the Private Pilot License Program (PPL). This is way more of a beneficial route then the 141 minimums. If you have any questions regarding the estimate you can always give me a call and we can discuss further on how to achieve you dream of getting that PPL."
The cost for this new part 61 program is 24,000 which is a drastic price difference that I am unsure of. Now I'm wondering whether he really means this and the difference is that the major between the two programs is that big or whether he was just told to say this by someone else. Do you really get charged retail if you exceed 35 hours? And does anyone know good flying schools where i can get my license for relatively cheap in NYC / Long Island Area? Thanks.

2023.06.10 05:37 Standard-Ad-8151 i5 - High CPU usage and Random High Fan RPM's

2023.06.10 05:35 Junior_Cress2828 How big of a container should I move my axolotl in?

So, tomorrow's the big move. Aziraphale is packed up and ready (for....the most part. I'm just moving across town so his water CAN come with us and will remain cooled and ready to go, it's literally like a 5 minute drive, but his water is still in his tank. His stuff will be the last stuff in the uhaul and the first stuff to get moved in.) And Zira's a little mad at me, as I'm sure anyone would be if I snatched their tank decor for safe moving and was only able to provide a temporary hide for this evening. He's a bit peeved with me. That's fair. But here's the last thing I need to do for this laddie. ... How big of a container should I move him in? I know I can move him in an airtight container "large enough to accomodate the animal" but what does this mean realistically? Like I'm not tossing him in the bucket with his tank water to slosh around the back of a uhaul, that's NOT happening, boy is getting carried by hand to the new place. He's about 7.5 inches long nose-to-tail, not the biggest boi out there, but larger than a goldfish yknow. I still have the ice pack the breeder sent with him when he was delivered to me nearly 2 years ago, as well as some homemade ice packs for the move. The plan is to stick him in an insulated bag with his ice-packs wrapped up snugly in an air-tight tupperware container, surrounded with papertowels so he doesn't move too much, and then to be carried by-hand to a safe place (likely the fridge) during the ~hour it'll tank to set up his tank. All in all, I doubt he'll be out of his tank for more than 2 hours tops. But I don't want him to have more stress than nessecary during this time. How big of a container should I be preparing for him? Will he be fine in a container where he sits slightly curved, or should I go for something he can fully stretch out in? There's no perfect solution to decreasing stress when moving, but I want to do everything I can to ensure my gilled friend makes it through this trip.
