I’m in the habit of trying to find how my new matches are related to me, no matter how distant. So a few days ago, I got a new match and I found our relation pretty easily, as she’s listed as a survivor in my great grandma’s uncle’s recent obituary. That makes her my 2nd cousin 1x removed.
So I dig through our shared matches, and see she has a matched daughter with a very strange name, strange enough I realized she wasn’t listed among the grandkids in that obituary I found.
So I google the daughter and find she is a pro-life activist, literally fronts a band that tours so she can tell her story about being adopted from birth because her teen mother gave her a chance. And she even talks on her public Facebook page about how she has no idea who her mother is!
Like wow!!! The life changes that are going on for those two people right now! But I also feel like I know something that I should not lol. I can kind of see why Ancestry does not want to implement the feature that shows relationships between shared matches.
Any other stories like this?? I can’t stop thinking about it. I hope they’re doing okay!

He was, at the time, in a relationship with me. He was in his forties, I was ten years younger. His mother had terminal cancer, so it was a very difficult time. I would make him meals, clean his house, bring him gifts, hold him when he broke down, and I also gave him space when he wanted it. He kept saying he couldn't really be present as a partner until his mother passed away.
I never got to meet his mother. He said it was a bad time, with all the family trying to cope with the grief. I understood and didn't push for it at all.
One day, he came over to my house. I had spent about three hours making him dinner. He sat down, ate, and then abruptly told me we were not together anymore. He said he needed time to work on himself, he needed time to help his dying mother -- maybe six weeks or so -- and after that, we could be together again.
Except, it turns out his "dying mother" was already dead. She had died about three days before he suddenly broke up with me. In the weeks that followed, we still saw one another. He kept going into detail about how hard it was caring for his dying mother, that his life would change once she had passed away as then he would have time and freedom.
This went on for two whole months before I saw her obituary and realised she had already died months before. When I confronted him, he denied it -- but when faced with irrefutable evidence, he caved in, and said he simply hadn't wanted to burden me with the news. Which is ridiculous. He had sat there, looked me in the eye, and gone into detail about caring for his mother, how hard it was, that his life would be different when she had passed away -- but she was already dead.
How bad is this? Am I right to think this is deeply wrong? That he could sit there and lie about his own recently deceased mother? And for what reason? I have been trying to wrap my head around this lie for months now.

I guess it started a week ago, when my boss (let's call her Alice), refused to let an employee go home... because his daughter that was in the military died.
Gets only worse from there.
See, I asked her about this the next day she was over, and she said that "Ben left in the end", but I pushed her and I knew well that it wasn't Alice herself that let Ben leave, myself and another coworker did after she left (early, I might add). When I pushed this, she said "Are you trying to reprimand me?"
She gave me a laundry list of reasons she didn't let Ben leave, from needing an obituary to having to approve it through her boss, it was all BS. I dismissed myself with a "I guess that's that, ma'am" and left.
But this wasn't enough for her. She called me back to her office, twice I might add, to more or less scream in my face, forcibly extracted the reason I wanted to transfer (because I don't like her, can't imagine why), threatened to call HR for "false accusation" after I merely asked for clarification, and most disgusting of all, Alice called in Ben to straight-up lie to support her case.
Moreover, the whole thing left me shaken and Joel was going to let me leave early, but Alice screamed at him about it and forced him to make me stay.
This was all yesterday. Today, I texted her about talking to Tim at another store, and she gave me some "this is unacceptable and inappropriate" crap and refused to talk further until I went to work today. My plan is to get Joel to back me up during the talk.

Her second career failed because of her propensity for favoritism and damaging children. She fantasized about having a perfect family and centered her personality around motherhood. When she fled her home state as a young adult, she brought all the abuse with her to inflict upon her new family. She is survived by a husband that was actively divorcing her because he recently discovered self-love. He's since found love for another survivor of narcissistic abuse who's exceptionally kind to him. [REDACTED] is survived by a smothered golden-child who whispers behind closed doors that they're honestly relieved. This golden-child learned to demand better from their partners than [REDACTED] taught them to expect, and chose a profession that is making the world a radically better place. Posting this because after seeing the news of the death of another person named Clive Barker I figured it'd be good as to avoid confusion and panic. My heart sank as soon as I saw this on Wikipedia's deaths page but then I saw the name and then saw it was another person sharing Clive's name. Clive has had some health issues in more recent years but is thankfully still alive and I hope health-wise he's been doing better.
I'm not familiar with this other Clive Barker but it's sad news nonetheless and may he rest in peace. Here's to hoping the obituary for our Clive is one we won't be seeing for many years from now.

Posting this because after seeing the news of the death of another person named Clive Barker I figured it'd be good as to avoid confusion and panic. Clive has had some health issues in more recent years but is thankfully still alive and I hope health-wise he's been doing better.

I've been researching Robert Barr, my 5th Great Grandfather, from Lanark Scotland. He was born in Oct 1766 and I haven't been able to confirm when he died.
Family Search has this record attached: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QLSH-HWK3 which says it's an obituary from May 1854. I can't see any images or links attached, or the name of the newspaper it was in. I've searched British Newspaper Archive website too but haven't been able to narrow it down.
Does anyone know how I could find the obituary the FS record is referencing?
