2023.03.22 19:04 Key-Piece-3206 Sports Betting Sign-Up Bonus Guide
| Originally posted in lunchmoney Background This is a method that goes over how you can make $5,000 - $10,000 risk-free by signing up for new user bonuses with various regulated sportsbooks (earnings depend on your location). Because I am in Canada, I will cover the Ontario market, but if you live in other regulated areas you can still use 99% of this guide to learn how to make money on sportsbooks. I made another guide on Sports Betting Arbitrage here, where I show you have you can make $500 per day, risk-free. I have personally made over $25,000 from sports betting and will answer any questions you have in the comments! Basics of Sports Betting Here are some common sign-up bonuses, terms and conditions (T&Cs), and sports betting lingo: Different Sign-Up Bonuses: - Deposit Match – A deposit match is what it sounds like, when you sign up for the sportsbook and make a deposit, the sportsbook will match your deposit in bet credits or cash.
- Bet & Get – When you sign up and place qualifying bets, the sportsbook will grant you a certain amount of bet credits (usually significantly more than your initial bet).
- 2nd Chance Bet – Some sportsbooks will offer a 2nd chance bet where the bettor only gets a bet credit if your initial bet LOSES. To make the most of this bonus, you should intentionally lose on the initial sportsbook and cover your loss on a different sportsbook and then use your 2nd chance bet.
Common T&Cs: - Minimum Odds – Some sportsbooks will implement a minimum odds clause in their T&Cs for bets placed in connection to a promotion. If the book sets the minimum odds to -200, this means you must bet on odds of -200, -150, +150, +200, … etc.
- Wagering Requirements / Rollover – A rollover clause means that you must bet the amount of your deposit a certain amount of times. For example, a 5x rollover on a deposit of $100 means you need to wager $500 to claim the bonus. Be careful because sometimes you need to rollover both the deposit and the bonus.
- "Stake Not Returned" – When a book does not return your stake, this means that for the bet credits you are granted, you only get the winnings and NOT the stake. For example, if you use $100 of bet credits that don't return the stake, and you bet it on a +150 event that wins, your account balance will go up by $150. If they did return the stake or if it was just a cash bet, your account balance would go up $250 (because you would get the initial $100 stake back).
- Flexible Bet Credits - if a bet credit is flexible, it means you can bet in any increment you want, for example: if you get a $100 flexible bet credit, you can place 100 bets of $1 each, 2 bets of $50 each, 4 bets of $25 each, etc.
- Semi-Flexible Bet Credits - if a bet credit is semi-flexible, it means you can bet in the increment that the sportsbook allows, for example: if you get a $100 semi-flexible bet credit that is split into 4 bets of $25 each, you cannot place 8 bets of $12.50 or 10 bets of $10.
*These are just a few confusing T&Cs. You must read the T&Cs of each promotion to ensure that you understand what the bonus entails because that could change your strategy to maximize each bonus! Common Sports Betting Lingo: - Stake vs. Winnings vs. Payout - in betting, if you place a bet of $100 on the Raptors to win at +250 odds. If the Raptors win, you win $250 and are paid a total of $350. From this example, the $100 was the stake, the $250 is the winnings and the $350 is the payout.
- This guide assumes you know the basics of sports betting. If you do not, please follow this link to find a quick online guide.
Maximizing Winnings on Each Sportsbook - Although all of the following sportsbooks are in Ontario, if you live in the US or Europe, many of these same books will have identical (or very similar promotions), so this will still apply to you.
- If you are in the US or Europe, go to my google drive resource here and download my bet tracking excel sheet. Under the "Bet Credit Retention" tab, you can customize your own bet credit terms, and my excel sheet will tell you exactly how much you need to bet to get a risk-free win! Remember to read the instructions for the excel sheet (also in my google drive) because it can get a little tricky.
- I will also put a ⭐ rating (out of 5) which only rates the sportsbooks sign-up bonus, which is not the same as what I would rate them overall!
- As a note, in the title of each credit, I will specify whether the stake is returned, what the rollover is (assume no rollover if I say nothing), and whether the bet credits are flex, or semi-flex (assume just neither if I say nothing).
⭐⭐⭐ 888Sport - 100% First Deposit Match (up to $250) - Stake Not Returned - Deposit $250 and bet in $50 increments on odds of -200 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
- Claim your $250 bonus and wager it on a +300 event, wager $562.50 on the opposite side of the original line at -300 on another sportsbook
- When the credits don't return the stake, wagering your bet credit on the highest possible odds will allow you to make the most money off your credit (in this case I chose +300 odds because they are quite high, and going above that is tough to find, even with the screening software I explain later on in this document)
- I explain why betting your credit on the highest possible odds is optimal later on, so keep reading!
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $187.50
- Reasoning: If the +300 wins, you get the $750 of winnings and since you bet $562.50 on the opposite side, your net payout is $187.50! If the -300 event wins, you get the winnings of $187.50 and you get your original $562.50 stake returned (since you used bet credits on the +300 side, you have no cost so you are still up $187.50 regardless)!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bet365 - Bet $1 and Get $250 in Bet Credits - Stake Not Returned & Flex - Deposit $10 and bet in $1 on any odds (this must be done according to the T&C) – no need to hedge on this as its only $1
- Claim your $250 bonus and wager it on a +300 event, wager $562.50 on the opposite side of the original line at -300 on another sportsbook
- Remember, because these are flex credits, you can place a smaller bet using your credits (on the +300 side) so you don't have to cover so much on the -300 side. And this goes for every other flex credit too, not just Bet365!
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $187.50
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bet99 - 100% Matched Bonus on First Deposit (up to $500) – Stake Returned, Flex & 5x Roll - Deposit $500 and wager your deposit 5 times on odds of -125 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook (since these are covered, you make nothing on these initial bets)
- Because the stake is returned, you can treat the bonus as a cash bet so you can bet the bonus on a +100 event and cover a +100 bet on another sportsbook (by betting $500 on the other sportsbook)
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $500
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Betano - 100% Matched Bonus on First Deposit (up to $500) – Stake Returned, Flex & 5x Roll - Deposit $500 and wager your deposit + bonus ($1,000) 5 times on odds of -200 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
- Claim your $500 bonus and wager it on a +100 event, wager $500 on the opposite side of the original line at +100 on another sportsbook
- Betano is a great sportsbook for hedging because it has a “MAX” button which tells you how much you can bet, allowing you to execute on another sportsbook first with high confidence that Betano will accept your bet on the opposite line!
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $500
⭐⭐⭐ BetRivers - 2nd Chance Bet (up to $500) – Stake Not Returned - Deposit $500 and wager your deposit on odds of -200 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bet on another sportsbook
- The goal with 2nd Chance Bets is to intentionally lose on the original sportsbook because you only get the credit if your bet loses. So you should try and bet on the highest odds possible (+400, +500, +600, +700 … etc.) and cover your bet on another sportsbook. I'll explain this later in more detail.
- Once you’ve intentionally lost on BetRivers, claim your $500 bonus and wager it on a +300 event, wager $1,125 on the opposite side of the original line at -300 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $375
⭐⭐⭐⭐ BetVictor - 100% Matched Bonus on First Bet (up to $300) – Stake Not Returned & Flex - Deposit $300 and wager your deposit on odds of +100 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
- Claim your $300 bonus and wager it on a +300 event, wager $675 on the opposite side of the original line at -300 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $225
⭐⭐ Betway - 100% Matched Bonus on First Deposit (up to $200) – Stake Returned, Flex & 10x Roll* - Deposit $200 and wager your deposit 10 times on odds of -150 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
- Claim your $200 bonus and wager it on a +100 event, wager $200 on the opposite side of the original line at +100 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $200
⭐⭐⭐ Caesars - 2nd Chance Bet (up to $500) – Stake Not Returned - Deposit $500 and wager your deposit on any odds (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
- Similar to BetRivers, you want to intentionally lose to claim the bet credit, so bet on the highest possible odds where you can find a hedge on another sportsbook
- Once you’ve intentionally lost on BetRivers, claim your $500 bonus and wager it on a +300 event, wager $1,125 on the opposite side of the original line at -300 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $375
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DraftKings - Bet $5 and Get $200 in Bet Credits – Stake Not Returned & Semi-Flex - This promotion is unique because you need to deposit $10 and bet $5 on a winning pre-game moneyline for any College Basketball game and then you get 8x $25 bet credits (totaling $200). Pick a heavy favourite to maximize your chances (there are no minimum odds for this)
- Claim your $200 bonus (of 8x $25 bets) and wager each bet on a +300 event, wager ~$450 on the opposite side of the original line at -300 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $150
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fanduel - 2nd Chance Bet (up to $1,000) – Stake Returned & Flex - Deposit $1,000 and wager your deposit on any odds greater than -300 (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
- Similar to BetRivers and Caesars, you want to intentionally lose to claim the bet credit, so bet on the highest possible odds where you can find a hedge on another sportsbook
- Once you’ve intentionally lost on Fanduel, claim your $1,000 bonus and wager it on a +100 event, wager $1,000 on the opposite side of the original line at +100 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $1,000
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ LeoVegas - Cash Bonus on First Three Deposits (up to $500) - LeoVegas offers a unique sports welcome bonus that will require some explaining
- The bonus is claimed in three different deposits. Firstly, you are going to want to deposit $300 and wager it 10 times on odds greater than -125 and hedge your bets on another sportsbook. Once you’ve done this, you claim a $300 cash bonus straight into your account balance.
- Next, you are going to deposit $100 and wager it 10 times on odds greater than -125 and hedge your bets on another sportsbook. Once you’ve done this, you claim a $100 cash bonus straight into your account balance. Repeat this one more time for another $100 cash bonus and then you are all done!
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $500
⭐⭐⭐ NorthStar Bets - 100% Matched Bonus on First Bet (up to $150) – Stake Not Returned - Deposit $150 and wager your deposit on odds of -500 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook

- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $112.50

- Claim your $100 bonus and wager it on a +100 event, wager $100 on the opposite side of the original line at +100 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $100
⭐⭐⭐⭐ PointsBet - 2nd Chance Bets (up to $1,000) – Stake Not Returned & Semi-Flex - Pointsbet’s welcome offer gives you a 2nd chance bet offer for your first 10 days as a participant. You can get $100 in bet credits (broken into 2x $50 bet credits) each day!
- To claim this, deposit $1,000 on your first day and wager $100 on any odds greater than -200 (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
- Similar to BetRivers, Caesars, and Fanduel, you want to intentionally lose to claim the bet credit, so bet on the highest possible odds where you can find a hedge on another sportsbook
- Repeat this step for 9 more days and claim your $100 bet credit each day!

--- Summary: Summing all of these guaranteed profits up, you can get $6,437.50 by completing all of these sign-up bonuses! Many of these same sportsbooks also offer promotions for active users that you can use as well (reload bonuses, boosted odds, refer-a-friend promos, etc.) so you can continue making money once you have done the sign-up promotion. Finding Odds How the Previous Section Assumes that Odds Work: If the Lakers play the Warriors and the Warriors moneyline is +100 on Fanduel, and since the Warriors will win 50% of the time (based on those odds) then the Lakers will also win 50% of the time. Because of this, based on expected payoffs, we assume Fanduel will have the Lakers moneyline at +100. How Odds Actually Work: Fanduel obviously wants to make money, so if they put the Warriors at +100, they will put the Lakers at -150 to give Fanduel a nice chunk called a spread. This is inevitable in the sports betting industry because sportsbooks need to make money. Assuming the spreads are 20% (which is like a tax on each bet), instead of making the original $6,437.50 from the sign-up bonuses, you will only make $5,150.00, meaning you would lose $1,287.50 if you took that 20% spread! How can we Save the 20% Tax: Software! Odds change every second of the day and after months of searching for odds manually, a very inefficient and time-consuming task, I finally found a tool called OddsJam. OddsJam screens millions of odds per second on hundreds of sportsbooks, including all the sportsbooks I’ve mentioned above. Using the OddsJam platform has saved me thousands of dollars and is the reason I was able to make so much off sign-up bonuses. If you decide to start harvesting bonuses on sportsbooks, using OddsJam is a must and you can use my link and promo code “ Firebet” at checkout for 25% lifetime discount (to ensure you get the discount, press on my link before signing up and enter the promo code at checkout)! Remember, this software can increase your earnings from the signup bonuses by $1,287.50💵❗You can make even more if you use the arbitrage tool, which I cover in a different guide (linked here). Example of Doing a Sign-Up Bonus Steps: - Log into OddsJam and go to the Arbitrage Betting Tool (this tool comes with the industry plan)
- Once on the Arbitrage Betting tool, use the filters to find odds
https://preview.redd.it/o5ppyuekybpa1.png?width=990&format=png&auto=webp&s=35f573172fc897e3fb214f52d444e6271ae63de2 - Find an opportunity on OddsJam and press the calculator to find how much to bet on each sportsbook
https://preview.redd.it/i58q81tlybpa1.png?width=988&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9c4c9e011b8fe3e80fe22fdc7b7979d57ca3d31 https://preview.redd.it/ftn2wp6mybpa1.png?width=988&format=png&auto=webp&s=7ed5f5983d380059f00315f4fcdb45da42efa7f8 - Log into each sportsbook and place the bets!
https://preview.redd.it/pzc1d26nybpa1.png?width=1031&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e629e813f6da7a7835c027d7c3a3cc4e295c044 https://preview.redd.it/fzu22vwnybpa1.png?width=1030&format=png&auto=webp&s=fa29396a8b73d0499f17a4bc03ce9c8d38d6b0fe - We have now completed part of our wagering requirements for Fanduel and Betano. We can repeat this process to harvest the sign-up bonus!
The Math Behind the Bets: - If we bet $50 on Fanduel on under 195.5 at +850. To covehedge this bet, we need to bet $410 on Betano on the over at -625
- Since there are only two possible outcomes (and we have bet on both of those outcomes), we are guaranteed to win $15.52! On top of that, we are also completing our bonus wagering requirements!
- With this particular bet, if the over wins, we get our $50 stake back and we get the winnings of $425 on Fanduel. Since we also bet $410 on Betano and this bet did not win, we lose our stake. Because the winnings of the initial bet are greater than our stake for the opposite bet, we come out on top!
- If the opposite happens, we get our stake back on Betano and we get winnings of $65 which covers the $50 stake we do not get back on Fanduel.
Why we Want to Lose our 1st Bet for "2nd Chance Bet" Offers - For 2nd chance bets, we only get the bet credit if our first bet loses
- So to give us the highest chance of losing our first bet, we should bet on the highest possible odds (+300, +500, +1000, etc.) where we can find opposite odds on another sportsbook
- For example, below we see odds of +250 on Betrivers and odds of -238 on Betano for the Pelicans – Mavericks game. The +250 odds imply that there is a low chance that this will occur so we take this bet because we know we have a $500 2nd chance bet on BetRivers
https://preview.redd.it/oqucp8mpybpa1.png?width=975&format=png&auto=webp&s=4b9b9c8a43e6e6b48e8882251cfd680fb08d5067 - Using the provided calculator, we bet $500 on the over using the Betrivers and we also bet $1,232 on under using Betano
- If the over loses, which it should ~75% of the time based on those odds, we win $517 on Betano and we lose our initial stake of $500 on BetRivers – so we still come out with a $17 profit
- We are then awarded with our 2nd chance bet of $500 on BetRivers which we can use as described in a previous section of the guide
Why we Use Bet Credits on the Highest Possible Odds - When given bet credits (that do not return the stake), we want to maximize our guaranteed earnings
- You may be wondering why I keep saying you should bet on odds of +300 (which are high) for each sportsbooks bonus guide
- The reason is that we want to maximize the potential payout-to-credit ratio, which gives us a higher retention of the bet credit
- As you see in the chart below, the higher the bet credit odds, the higher retention of the bet credit!
https://preview.redd.it/sq6qxj0rybpa1.png?width=770&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1997e31c5df7ec626207a3639800b4cdc3462c0 Summary - Sign up for each sportsbook and participate in their sign-up bonus (following my advice for each book and for each type of sign-up bonus) and make $6,437.50, risk-free!
- Sign up for the OddsJam platform here and use my promo code “Firebet” at checkout for 25% lifetime discount (to ensure you get the discount, press on my link before signing up and enter the promo code at checkout)! This software personally helped me make $1,000's and can help you save $1,287.50 by finding odds that have no spread!
- Go to my google drive resource page here to get my excel tracker that helps track everything (deposits, bets, credits, profit per day, week, quarter, etc.)! I also provided instructions to the excel sheet that should help
- If you want to learn more about how I made $500 per day (risk-free) by doing arbitrage betting, here is another Reddit post I made showing you how you can do the same thing as me!

2023.03.22 18:52 lbmn2 Persuade me to get the Ryobi generator vs cheaper alternatives
I'm shopping for a camp-site gasoline generator.
The weight is my biggest restriction, since I must be able to carry it into remote locations only accessible on foot. Wheels are useless on a muddy trail though the woods. 40-50 pounds is OK, but in gets increasingly uncomfortable above that.
I previously used cheap 2-stroke TailGaters from Harbor Freight ("700 running watts", but more like 400 in practice) that weighed under 40-lb, but they don't make them anymore. I also now have enough battery chargers (primarily Ryobi) for a more powerful generator - the more watts out the better.
There are currently two Ryobi-branded generators that fit my criteria. Both have "1800 running watts" (2300 starting), 79-cc engine, 1.2-gal fuel tank, inverter, 57-dB noise rating, and low oil / CO2 auto-shutoff.
But there are much better-value alternatives from other brands. For example:
- Pulsar 47-lb 3200-watt generator for $549. It has a bigger 145cc engine that puts out "4000 watts / 3200 running watts on gas; 3700 peak / 3000 running watts on propane". I don't really see myself ever using propane, since gasoline is easier to haul, but there are no down-sides to having this option. Noise isn't a problem (68-dB on full load, or 50-dB standby). "1 year manufacturer warranty."
- Champion 39-lb 1850/2500-watt dual-fuel for $545. The lightest 4-stroke inverter option. Dual-fuel, "3 year limited warranty".
- Pulsar 1800/2300 for $379. 80-cc engine, 59-dB, "1 year manufacturer warranty". Seems similar to Ryobi's, for less than half the price!
All those are sold through Walmart.com, and you can get an additional 3-year "protection plan" for around 10% on top of the price. I hope that means I can bring them to any Walmart for a swap or return. Is that much worse than Ryobi / Home Depot "3-year Manufacturer Warranty" / additional protection plan for $150?
So - can anyone persuade me to get the more expensive Ryobi generator? Or is there another non-Ryobi option that is even better?
Regardless of which generator I get, most of those watts are going to Ryobi battery chargers - to be used with Ryobi inverters, lights, fans, USB(C) / 20v laptop adapters, bug zapper, transfer pump, chainsaw, and other Ryobi products that are very useful in the woods. 🤠

2023.03.22 17:32 misterflocka Maintenance schedule for 2013 CRV questions - does everything look right?
I try to stay ahead of maintenance so my CR-V will last 20-25 years before I purchase my next car. After almost 4 years of ownership (I’m the longest owner out of the two previous owners) I am very happy with the car.
My maintenance plan:
- Spark plugs (NGK) every 100k miles
- Coolant every 100k miles (Honda coolant)
- ATF every 30k miles (Honda ATF)
- Costco brand Full synthetic oil & FRAM XG7317 filter every 5k
- Brake fluid every brake change (every 70k) was tested by my mechanic recently after 40k miles and still good
- Rear diff fluid every 30k?
- Drive belt every 100k
Ignore brake pads & rotors (fronts last about 70k, rears about 90k), headlights, batteries, tires, rotate and balance, alignments, engine air filters, cabin air filters, struts and shocks, and any other maintenance - I already have a sort of schedule for those. Any flaws in this plan?

2023.03.22 07:38 ambaqua Need help diagnosing issue!
Hi,
I own a 2005 Honda Accord EX Coupe 4cly vtec 2.4 L (220,000+ miles; a beast). This is only my second car fyi; learning more about mechanics every day (no parents)
I broke down just off an exit with check engine light that had been on (Was saving to fix). My car had cut off before but it would always start back itself; a misfire i suppose. Anyways, it didn’t start back itself so I turned key but it did not start. Tried again no luck.
Towed back home and tow guy checked my battery and oil which were both in good condition; this I know. He told me he think it could be fuel/fuel pump/fuel filter.
I tried starting next day and it started and i let it run for about 5 mins to warm and cut back off to restart; it did not start again. Check engine light turns off and battery light comes on with oil light.
Next day I try to start it again; it starts but as soon as I cut on AC to see if it works— the car looses all electric functions it seems (AC/radio/dash lights/headlights). I took out key and turned to half and lights on dash showed only ABS light and Brake light (brake was not on). Talked to a mechanic on the phone/sent him videos of me trying the car. He stated it may be the starter
Today I tried to start it; no start at all. A different mechanic came to take a look and jumped it for me. He wanted to see how long it’d run/ how it sounded.. it lasted about 4 mins. He says it is most likely just an O2 sensor.
Asking for opinions because I am hearing so many different things and from my research all of these do make sense. I cant afford a tow to honda dealer + their costs at the moment; they are pretty far from my area. Also getting codes ran tomorrow hopefully!

2023.03.22 02:33 _Lyum Two years with my 2019 Honda Civic Type R
This is going to be a long post of my experiences with my 2019 Honda Civic Type R. im writing this on mobile to please excuse any formatting errors.
Background
Ive been a car enthusiasts since i was a young lad. i am now 26 years old living on the Connecticut coast where i grew up as well. my first car was a white 1992 honda civic dx hatch 4 speed auto gifted to me by my lovely grandma who is still currently kickin it at 100 years old. she gave this to me because i used to service it like change the oil, i did the brakes and tie rods in my power tech class in highschool. i fell in love with this cars nimble handling, lightweight feel, and of course the honda sound when i stopped on the pedal and had to wait an eternity for the slushbox auto to downshift. drove this car throughout highschool. my next car was a 2004 honda civic lx that i used to college, i needed something more practical for college with 4 doors and something a little bit safer. once i graduated college in 2018 i purchased a 2018 honda accord 2.0 with the 10 speed auto. this was a fantastic car but still didnt give me the excitement and engagement i was looking for. one year after purchasing the accord i decided a i need to buy a car with a manual transmission so i could learn. so i did my research and decided a first gen miata was the right choice. i picked up a clean one owner 1996 na miata with the torsen lsd and a 5 sp in feb 2020 just before covid hit and drove prices up. i absolutely loved this car as well, the sublime 5 speed, the handling, top down. one of my fondest memories is riding around with my brother along the Connecticut coatsline and having a girl flash us in the miata. flash forward a year later, its Feb 2021, the accord has had daily duties for 2 years, i get into an accident on the highway that lands my accordnin the shop with minor damages. so im now dailying the miata in connecticut winter and ir realize that i do not mind driving the manual transmission everyday, in fact im looking forward to it. the body shop that my accord was at has eveyone get covid so it remained at the shop for quite some time. during this i realized i was watching civic type r videos everyday, working in the emergency room as nurse, which really changed my perspective on life. i decided it was time. i test drove a used type r and fell in love immediately. it was everything i dreamed of. i found a 2019 with 8k miles for 37.9k online and bought site unseen, traded in my accord which i had positive equity in, and sold my miata to my dad. i wanted a 2019 specifically for the physical volume and infotainment controls over the 17-18 MY and didnt want to pay the premium for the refreshed 20-21 MY. first ever picture
https://imgur.com/a/mt0lyk7 Ownership Experience
the civic type r was delivered on March 23, 2021, im currently at 30500 miles, ive tracked the car 3x and plan on doing more events this summer. i tracked the car stock only having done wheels and tires and had no issues.
https://imgur.com/a/lDnahLe i have had no issues with the car besides the infotainment occasionally needing to be reset. just regular maintenance such as tires, oil, rear brakes. i immediately put 18x9.5 wheels wrapped in 265/35/18 tires on it. also had it ceramic coated to protect the championship white paint. i love how my first car was a white honda civic hatchback and now my current car is as well. this car really means a lot to me and im very grateful that i have this opportunity at such a young age. i drive this car year round on all seasons including on dirt roads when im camping (full size air mattress can fit in the back)
https://imgur.com/a/NaELmJB and snow when im doing snowboarding trips.
https://imgur.com/a/nv5j9cn things i like
handling, power, space! can fit my bike in the back as well at 4 rims and tires, transmission feel, braking feel, seats are amazing. i also love how it looks, ability to track it stock, rev match downshifting is also a great feature for noobs like myself who want to track their car but arent heel toe pros yet. the aftermarket support is also amazing and confidence inspiring
things i dont like
no rev match downshift button (why is it in the infotainment), climate controls could be better, tweeter speakers rattle, 20 inch wheels with rubber band tires stock. this is nit picking yes
things ive done to the car
fk8 mods
ceramic coat - opticoat pro
18x9.5 +38 5x120 rays gram lights 57DR gloss black
Michelin pilot sport 4 all season 265x35x18 on rear
continental sport dws96+ 265x35x18 on front
oem wind guards (came with it)
acuity shift boot collar and poco shift knob
overland designs alcantera center console trim
uniden r3 radar
ma performance street exhaust burnt tip
k & n drop in air filter
3 way dash cam
prl hvi intake
ma performance catted downpipe
hondata tuned with pherable stage 2.0
approx hp/tq 360/360 at the wheels
in the past two week ive added the prl intake, ma performance downpipe and finally tuned the car. (shoutout The Shop in Stratford CT for the work) as you can imagine it feels like i unlocked a whole nother level. it feels exceptionally quick now and i dont feel like i need any more power. the intake sound is amazing.
overall this has been a wonderful experience for a young enthusiast and my first time modifying a car more extensively. ive learned so much, made friends in car community, and still look forward to driving to work everyday. i plan to keep this car for minimum 5 years before looking at used 991.1 Porsches (manual of course) thank you for reading and feel free to ask any questions. i have lots of pictures on my profile of the car. more pics

RULES: | |
- The giveaway will be open for ONE full day until 5PM tomorrow. There will be no tags for this raffle. It will end officially at 5PM on the second day, any requests thereafter will be ignored.
- If you participated in any month from March through August 2022, you are eligible to request spots up to six random spots total (that’s if you participated in all SIX months). With a TOP LEVEL COMMENT you may request up to six random spots and post the permalinks to YOUR PAID spot request links (one link from EACH month). You may submit ONLY ONE LINK PER MONTH. Given how large this is going to be, we HIGHLY suggest you visit the last giveaway here, to see how to do this correctly. Find your paid spot request permalinks beforehand and make sure you know the exact dates of your participation because Reddit has fooled many users. Freebie participation does not count. Spots in cancelled raffles do not count. Spots that were removed for non-payment certainly does not count. We will not allow donating your spot to anyone else for this giveaway. YOU MUST POST YOUR REQUEST AND LINKS IN ONE SINGLE TOP-LEVEL COMMENT. Given how large this is, we will ignore additional comments from any user who attempt to add additional months. The number of months you posted originally will be the maximum number of spots you will be eligible for.
- If you are caught calling a spot with an alt or try to cheat in any way or form, you will be perma-banned immediately with no exceptions. Do NOT send modmail to get whitelisted or upgraded during this period. And do not send modmail or reply to us asking why you were skipped and pooped. You should have read the rules in advance. Any such messages will be immediately archived.
- Not following the rules will result in one poop. Examples that will get you one poop flair: request a spot without a link, post a link to the wrong month, post links from the same month, post a link to the raffle itself (and not your specific spot request), post a comment underneath your first error with links, or delete/edit your spot request. Any of these will result in one poop flair. If you commit another error afterwards, that will be a second poop (and immediate 1-week ban if 2nd poop, or 1-month ban if it results in 3rd poop and your request will not be honored for the giveaway). If you already had a poop flair that has not expired and you incur an infraction during this giveaway, you will be banned accordingly and you will not be allowed to participate in this giveaway. If you are skipped, that means you made an error and you will receive a poop flair.
- HOW TO FIX YOUR ERROR: Make a NEW top level comment if you want to try again. But if you make another error at this point, this will result in a ban and your request will be ignored for the giveaway and you will not be allowed to participate in this giveaway.
- Once the raffle window closes, all slots will be SHUFFLED and the bot called for ONE winner. The winner will send modmail with their info. It takes a lot of effort on the part of several mods to check all the links to make sure that they link to your paid spot request to completed raffles and that the dates correspond to the correct months. If you send PMs or chats to any mods or send modmail during the giveaway period asking what you did wrong, why you were pooped, or why you were skipped, they will all be ignored. Do not reply to the mod team comments stating you were skipped and pooped asking why, and you should not reply beneath with the correct links. You should have done your homework by reading the rules carefully and following them. LEARN HOW TO READ AND HOW TO POST CORRECT LINKS BEFOREHAND.

This is a method that goes over how you can make
$5,000 - $10,000 risk-free by signing up for new user bonuses with various regulated sportsbooks (earnings depend on your location). Because I am in Canada, I will cover the Ontario market, but if you live in other regulated areas you can still use 99% of this guide to learn how to make money on sportsbooks. I made another guide on Sports Betting Arbitrage
here, where I show you have you can make
$500 per day, risk-free. I have personally made over
$25,000 from sports betting and will answer any questions you have in the comments!
Basics of Sports Betting
Here are some common sign-up bonuses, terms and conditions (T&Cs), and sports betting lingo:
Different Sign-Up Bonuses: - Deposit Match – A deposit match is what it sounds like, when you sign up for the sportsbook and make a deposit, the sportsbook will match your deposit in bet credits or cash.
Maximizing Winnings on Each Sportsbook
- Although all of the following sportsbooks are in Ontario, if you live in the US or Europe, many of these same books will have identical (or very similar promotions), so this will still apply to you.
⭐⭐⭐
888Sport - 100% First Deposit Match (up to $250) - Stake Not Returned - Deposit $250 and bet in $50 increments on odds of -200 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bet365 - Bet $1 and Get $250 in Bet Credits - Stake Not Returned & Flex - Deposit $10 and bet in $1 on any odds (this must be done according to the T&C) – no need to hedge on this as its only $1
- Claim your $250 bonus and wager it on a +300 event, wager $562.50 on the opposite side of the original line at -300 on another sportsbook
- Remember, because these are flex credits, you can place a smaller bet using your credits (on the +300 side) so you don't have to cover so much on the -300 side. And this goes for every other flex credit too, not just Bet365!
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $187.50
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bet99 - 100% Matched Bonus on First Deposit (up to $500) – Stake Returned,
Flex & 5x Roll - Deposit $500 and wager your deposit 5 times on odds of -125 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook (since these are covered, you make nothing on these initial bets)
- Because the stake is returned, you can treat the bonus as a cash bet so you can bet the bonus on a +100 event and cover a +100 bet on another sportsbook (by betting $500 on the other sportsbook)
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $500
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Betano - 100% Matched Bonus on First Deposit (up to $500) – Stake Returned,
Flex & 5x Roll - Deposit $500 and wager your deposit + bonus ($1,000) 5 times on odds of -200 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bets on another sportsbook
⭐⭐⭐
BetRivers -
2nd Chance Bet (up to $500) – Stake Not Returned - Deposit $500 and wager your deposit on odds of -200 or greater (this must be done according to the T&C) and hedge your bet on another sportsbook
⭐⭐⭐⭐
BetVictor -

Pick a heavy favourite to maximize your chances (there are no minimum odds for this)
- Claim your $200 bonus (of 8x $25 bets) and wager each bet on a +300 event, wager ~$450 on the opposite side of the original line at -300 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $150
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Fanduel -

- Similar to BetRivers and Caesars, you want to intentionally lose to claim the bet credit, so bet on the highest possible odds where you can find a hedge on another sportsbook
- Once you’ve intentionally lost on Fanduel, claim your $1,000 bonus and wager it on a +100 event, wager $1,000 on the opposite side of the original line at +100 on another sportsbook
- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $1,000
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
LeoVegas - Cash Bonus on First Three Deposits (up to $500) - LeoVegas offers a unique sports welcome bonus that will require some explaining

Summary: Summing all of these guaranteed profits up, you can get
$6,437.50 by completing all of these sign-up bonuses! Many of these same sportsbooks also offer promotions for active users that you can use as well (reload bonuses, boosted odds, refer-a-friend promos, etc.) so you can continue making money once you have done the sign-up promotion.
Finding Odds
How the Previous Section Assumes that Odds Work: If the Lakers play the Warriors and the Warriors moneyline is +100 on Fanduel, and since the Warriors will win 50% of the time (based on those odds) then the Lakers will also win 50% of the time.
If you decide to start harvesting bonuses on sportsbooks, using OddsJam is a must and you can use my
link and promo code “
Firebet” at checkout for
25% lifetime discount (to ensure you get the discount, press on my
link before signing up and enter the promo code at checkout)! Remember, this software can increase your earnings from the signup bonuses by
$1,287.50💵❗You can make even more if you use the arbitrage tool, which I cover in a different guide (linked
here).
Example of Doing a Sign-Up Bonus
Steps: - Log into OddsJam and go to the Arbitrage Betting Tool (this tool comes with the industry plan)
- Once on the Arbitrage Betting tool, use the filters to find odds
https://preview.redd.it/ldre9efnx4pa1.png?width=990&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9aae7abb7c0b2b2f6a524433d77144c2bd7fdcb - Find an opportunity on OddsJam and press the calculator to find how much to bet on each sportsbook

https://preview.redd.it/l0rbk5ipx4pa1.png?width=1031&format=png&auto=webp&s=a1edc10a99159d3fcc11497ec1ce40aaa9d3b63f https://preview.redd.it/58pb963qx4pa1.png?width=1030&format=png&auto=webp&s=619754015376ed51eff412b3af6e99561c09dc38 - We have now completed part of our wagering requirements for Fanduel and Betano.
Why we Want to Lose our 1st Bet for "2nd Chance Bet" Offers
- For 2nd chance bets, we only get the bet credit if our first bet loses
- So to give us the highest chance of losing our first bet, we should bet on the highest possible odds (+300, +500, +1000, etc.) where we can find opposite odds on another sportsbook
- For example, below we see odds of +250 on Betrivers and odds of -238 on Betano for the Pelicans – Mavericks game. The +250 odds imply that there is a low chance that this will occur so we take this bet because we know we have a $500 2nd chance bet on BetRivers
- Using the provided calculator, we bet $500 on the over using the Betrivers and we also bet $1,232 on under using Betano
Why we Use Bet Credits on the Highest Possible Odds
- When given bet credits (that do not return the stake), we want to maximize our guaranteed earnings
- You may be wondering why I keep saying you should bet on odds of +300 (which are high) for each sportsbooks bonus guide
- The reason is that we want to maximize the potential payout-to-credit ratio, which gives us a higher retention of the bet credit
- As you see in the chart below, the higher the bet credit odds, the higher retention of the bet credit!
https://preview.redd.it/rqrx7r6rx4pa1.png?width=770&format=png&auto=webp&s=2079602f75b5841adb94c30a24c6cdf38b877ed4 Summary
- Sign up for each sportsbook and participate in their sign-up bonus (following my advice for each book and for each type of sign-up bonus) and make $6,437.50, risk-free!
Feel free to comment and ask questions below! Also, let me know if you want me to do any other betting guides!

2023.03.21 19:19 Rasonics 2013 Pilot Timing Belt/WP Kit, Front Breaks, Syn Oil and misc work - This is what my Mechanic in TX charged and Pilot is running great. Fair price?
2023.03.21 04:59 DavidRandom Throwback to my first bike(s), and a cautionary tale for first time bike buyers.
To the seasoned rider, this will sound like common sense, but many new riders (including my younger self), might not know what to look for, or might be blinded by "Oh sick, it has pod filters!". Feel free to skip to the TL;DR at the end, I was just in a writing mood tonight and this got a little long.
My first bike, a
1981 Honda CB750 Custom, or, what was left of it. When I was looking for my first bike I didn't have a lot of cash, and really wanted a cafe style bike. Saw this one and talked him down to $1,200. I picked it up during winter, and it had been stored in a flimsy bike shed. Didn't even attempt to start it, the owner said the battery was dead from sitting over the winter but assured me it ran great with no issues.
Lesson 1: Don't buy without a test drive, and don't trust the seller to disclose all the issues. Also, always request that the bike be cold when you come to look at it. Feel the exhaust before they start it up. If it's already running, or hot when you get there, chances are there's an issue that takes some fiddling with to get it fired up. When spring hit I finally had a chance to really get into it. The more I went over the bike, the more of a mess I realized it was. Whoever did the cafe conversion did a real hack job, under the seat was a rats nest of wires, many that had just been clipped and covered with electrical tape. And the battery was just zip tied to the frame. (
I ended up fashioning an ammo can into a battery box )
Lesson 2: Reaaallly inspect the bike. Make sure all the lights work (Headlight, tail light, brake light, turn signals). Check the wiring. Check for any fluid leaks) I got a new battery in it, and after many times of draining and recharging the battery, it finally fired up. Did a few test drives around the neighborhood (first time ever driving a motorcycle), and it seemed to run well enough. But when I'd try to start it up again, the battery would always die before I got it started the first time. Bought a new battery thinking maybe I got a dud with the last one, and it fired right up. Decided to venture out a little more, and took off to meet a friend at the pub about 4 miles away. It died while pulling into the parking lot. I had to jump start it to leave. Made it home, but the headlights were mighty dim by the time I got there. Turns out it had a bad stator. Then I found oil leaking out of the head, and discovered some stripped head bolts. It sat in my garage for the rest of the summer, then I sold it for a loss. Put maybe 30 miles on it.
You'd think I'd learned my lesson after that, but nope. 2nd bike
1976 Honda CB550 This one was at least modded by someone who at least had an ok understanding of what he was doing. Drove to the other side of the state and picked to pick it up. Test rode this one, but it had already been started and heated up before I got there (See Lesson 1). It seemed to run fine after running it up and down the street, so I took it home. Found out it reaallly didn't like to fire up if the weather was on the cooler side. I could get it there, but it took a lot of coaxing. First time I took it out on a proper run, I learned that once it got warmed up, it liked to idle at 3k rpm when stopped. I could drop the rpm's if I slowly let out the clutch and pulled it in just before it died, but if I even touched the throttle it was back up to 3k. The carbs also seemed out of synch, and was exacerbated by the pod filters (those things are a nightmare unless you rejet the carbs, and even then, you need a miracle to tune it right). Also found out the fork seals were shot and leaking.
So after that, I decided I was going to save up and get a decent running newer bike. I was looking for a KLR or Vstrom, something more reliable and I could also take moto camping. But then this happened.....Saw a facebook listing for a
1975 Honda CB550. 100% stock, so no worries about a hack job, and they're almost impossible to find intact in my area. So I talked the guy down on the price, and went to look at it. He had it 1 mile from my house. Did a quick test drive (was in the city, so just puttering around), came back and handed him the cash. I bought it 3 hours after he listed it. The next day I took it to work to put it through it's paces. Once I got it up to speed I noticed a vertical wobble from the front tire. Then I noticed a fluid spot under the bike when I got out of work. It was leaking from the shift lever. Upon further inspection, I found a few big holes on the frame side walls of the exhaust (on both sides). It also didn't like sitting at idle, I'd have to keep it revved a little at lights to keep from stalling.
I had enough. Sold both of those. At this point I was up to 3 bikes, with maybe 200 miles between the 3 of them (at least 125 were just from bike #2).
I searched around for a while, and took my time looking for a deal (this was during covid, and the crazy markups weren't just limited to cars). I settled on an
'09 Kawasaki KLR650 (Pic taken after a few mods I made. Rally Dash, Touring Screen, 2" Dogbone suspension lift, Tusk Boxes). When I looked at it I did a thorough inspection of the bike, started it up cold, and took it out for a longer test drive (Stop and go traffic, Back roads, Highway etc). Questioned the owner about the bikes history, he hadn't ridden it much, he got it so he could ride with his kids on their new dirtbikes, but turns out the kids weren't really into it. But he told me about the previous owner. He maintained it religiously, as proven by the box full of receipts, and a log with every fluid change, and other maintenance. (also proof that the Doo was done, KLR owners know what that means). It had 37k miles on it, but it was solid. This bike served me well, it was my daily driver year round as long as there was no snow/ice on the road, and temps were above 35, along with many 2-300 mile afternoon road trips. Put thousands of miles on it. (I even did the Lake Michigan Saddle Sore run on it, 1k miles in under 24 hours). It finally died on me the day before I was going to take it on a Michigan to Key West round trip. The electrical system fried while I was getting on the highway. No regrets, I got my moneys worth out of it.
After that I went a few years without a bike, dealing with some curveballs life threw at me. I've been saving up to get something newer (5 years or less) and low mileage. Thinking a Triumph Tiger, or a Super Ten. But I couldn't handle not having a bike anymore, I spent the last two years being angry when I'd see other people out cruising around on nice sunny days.
So I picked up a cheap bike just to hold me over until I save up for what I really want. It's a
1986 Kawasaki Concours 1000 She's a bit rough around the edges, old, high mileage, but mechanically sound. Picked it up from a local pastor who put a couple thousand miles on it touring around with friends. If I were to stick with this bike, it'd probably need a little tlc next season to put it in tip top shape, but I plan on upgrading next spring.
Anyway, I feel like that all got a bit off topic.
TL;DR: If you're looking for your first bike, don't pick up a project because it looks cool, and you've got grand plans of whipping it into shape (unless you're already a decent mechanic). Those old bikes are really neat, but there's a good chance you'll spend way more time tinkering with it than actually riding it. Get a decent running bike first, even if it seems boring. Then pick up a project on the side if you must. Don't buy a bike without thoroughly checking it out, and give it a good test drive in different riding conditions, not just a few laps around the block. And always insist that the bike is cold (hasn't been started recently) before you get there Also, just another bit of advice. Never buy a bike without a title. It varies from state to state, but it can be a nightmare getting a new title as a buyer. They'll tell you "Oh, it's super easy, just bring a bill of sale to the DMV/SOS". But it's not that easy. If it was they would have done it already. Chances are it's either A. Stolen or B. They bought it from someone without a title after hearing the same "just do xyz to get a new title, simple!", then found out it's not so simple, and is attempting to pawn it off to the next sucker.

2023.03.21 01:45 lazymonkey28 My engine oil dipstick is stuck. I can't get it out to check the oil level. What can I do?
2010 Honda Fit Sport with 174,000 miles. The garage changed the oil filter, drained the old oil, and put in 3.8 quarts new, but they can't check it to confirm the right level. They said they could order a replacement stem and swap it out, but that seems excessive. They didn't want to try any harder getting it out for fear of breaking off the plastic handle of the dipstick.
One video I watched said to put some WD 40 around the top so it can work its way in and possibly lubricate the dried out o ring, but there seems to be a cap so I can't get it into the gap. What are my options?

2023.03.20 21:50 Key-Piece-3206 Sports Betting Sign-Up Bonus Guide

- Guaranteed risk-free profit: $200

- Once on the Arbitrage Betting tool, use the filters to find odds
https://preview.redd.it/na1o29ghiyoa1.png?width=990&format=png&auto=webp&s=704b8708b4250abe665422547ebe70ed08a3c57a - Find an opportunity on OddsJam and press the calculator to find how much to bet on each sportsbook

The +250 odds imply that there is a low chance that this will occur so we take this bet because we know we have a $500 2nd chance bet on BetRivers
https://preview.redd.it/nd98egsliyoa1.png?width=975&format=png&auto=webp&s=0a3a673f69fa386dd3e05706322bce650894bdc1 - Using the provided calculator, we bet $500 on the over using the Betrivers and we also bet $1,232 on under using Betano
- As you see in the chart below, the higher the bet credit odds, the higher retention of the bet credit!
https://preview.redd.it/sbe3033niyoa1.png?width=770&format=png&auto=webp&s=739177b124244803cf2fdc2f7ce20eea3c73ad9d Summary - Sign up for each sportsbook and participate in their sign-up bonus (following my advice for each book and for each type of sign-up bonus) and make $6,437.50, risk-free!

Why is my next service do expensive
Hey, I owe 2021 Murano, 21.5k miles. My next service will cost me 600-700$. It includes engine oil, filter, in cabin filter, break fluid, tire rotation and differential gear oil / transfer case oil.
I usually get it done at the dealership, and that’s the price range they gave me.
Does this seem correct to you? It’s 10x what I usually pay.
Does it make sense to look at other places to get all of this done?

2023.03.20 14:37 jjgrey05 Dr. Vassilis Grigoriou (Advent Technologies) in "N": Methanol fuel cells are "Key" to the decarbonization of Shipping
Monday, March 20, 2023
They convert methanol into hydrogen and after the chemical reaction into electricity.
Giorgos Georgiou •
[email protected]r "We strongly believe that methanol will be the fuel of the future for the global shipping industry, as well as an ideal means of energy storage."
This is what Dr. says in
an interview with "N". Vassilis Grigoriou, President and CEO of Advent Technologies, which started in Patras 17 years ago as an advanced technology start-up and is currently listed on the American stock exchange, "running" long-term investment plans in Europe and the USA.
The company is focusing heavily on the shipping space , developing the 'SereneU' fuel cells. These operate on methanol, using an integrated reformer, which converts on-board the methanol into hydrogen, and after the chemical reaction, into electricity.
"As a carrier of hydrogen, methanol allows for simpler storage and helps reduce supply chain costs, compared to pure hydrogen, and significantly enhances the safety of related processes and handling," points out Dr. Gregory.
In fact, fuel cells are used, beyond ocean shipping, in large pleasure boats, but also in sailing and passenger ships in coastal shipping.
It is noted that although Advent's size exceeds the borders of Greece, our country is still a springboard for business initiatives. "Advent's aim is to reverse the brain drain that Greece has been suffering from in recent years and turn it into a brain gain," emphasizes Dr. Gregory.
His interview with "N" in detail:
Tell us a few introductory comments about the company. How did it start and how did it grow to the sizes we know today? Advent started in Patras in 2006 as an advanced technology start-up that looked many years ahead. Our vision is to create a world of clean, safe, sustainable and affordable energy derived from hydrogen. Hydrogen can replace fossil fuels especially in the areas of:
● industry (production of steel, ammonia, cement, fertilizers, refineries, etc.) and
● in high-volume vehicles (trucks, ships, and possibly airplanes).
These two sectors contribute much more than passenger cars to the climate crisis (producing more than 30% of carbon dioxide emissions) and environmental pollution. In these areas it is impossible to replace the energy they need with batteries, and it is necessary to find an alternative fuel. This is green hydrogen.
At Advent we develop two products:
● Electrolysers, i.e. green hydrogen production machines from water and renewable energy sources. These machines will be the clean "oil wells" of the future and can be installed in every country.
● Fuel Cells, i.e. machines that generate electricity and heat. These engines will gradually replace internal combustion engines and diesel generators worldwide.
With more than 150 patents in fuel cell technology, we have completed 38 R&D projects that have been funded by the European Union, the USA, and nationally by the countries where we operate.
In February 2021, Advent listed on the NASDAQ New York Stock Exchange, successfully raising US$158.3 million to implement our business plan, and began its investment program in the US, Europe and Asia.
2022 was a milestone year for the development of our company. In July 2022, Advent's Green HiPo, an Important Project of Common European Interest of the Hydrogen Technologies and Systems value chain (IPCEI Hydrogen), received validation from the European Commission, following notification by the Greek State. The project will be implemented in Western Macedonia and will significantly contribute to the economic development of the region, through the construction and operation of a state-of-the-art industrial plant as well as Research and Development facilities for the production of innovative fuel cell systems and electrolysis units. The total amount of financing may exceed 700 million euros and will be completed in six years.
In addition, we are currently developing Advent's new next-generation high-temperature proton exchange membrane in collaboration with the US Department of Energy's Los Alamos National Research Center, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The new membrane opens up new perspectives in the global fuel cell industry, and its potential is already being explored by major companies in the automotive sector, such as Hyundai Motor Company.
What solutions does the company develop for the shipping industry? Advent's main business right now is fuel cells. Fuel cells are considered the most sustainable alternative to internal combustion engines, diesel generators, and ship and aircraft engines. Establishing fuel cells as a reliable source of electricity is one way to achieve net zero emissions in sectors that cannot rely on the exclusive use of batteries, including shipping.
Our advanced technology enables fuel cells to operate at high temperatures, between 80°C and 240°C, using hydrogen carrier fuels with low (methanol, biomethanol) or zero (green methanol) emissions.
To avoid confusion here let us emphasize that green methanol is nothing but a derivative product of green hydrogen and is considered the optimal way to use green hydrogen in ships.
We read during 2022 that the company signed memoranda of cooperation with big names in Greek shipping to carry out test projects on products it produces. Are there other similar agreements with Greek or foreign shipowners in the works? In June 2022 we announced the launch of pilot programs with reputable Greek shipbuilding companies. These programs concern the installation of Advent's "SereneU" fuel cells that operate on methanol on selected ships of our partners, with the aim of evaluating them as a source of electrical energy.
In January 2023 we announced a new and promising partnership with Alfa Laval, a world leader in marine technology. The collaboration aims to evaluate Advent's SereneU fuel cells that run on methanol – and later zero-emission green methanol – in the marine industry to replace electric power generators. This project is financed by the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program of Denmark, while Advent, Alfa Laval and a group of Danish shipowners will cooperate for its implementation.
Both inside and outside of Greece, we see an ever-increasing interest in the use of fuel cells, fueled with methanol by leading companies in the shipping field.
How do SereneU fuel cells on board work and what advantages do they offer? Do you think methanol is the answer to the difficult "equation" of alternative fuels in shipping? SereneU fuel cells run on methanol, using an integrated reformer, which converts the methanol on-board into hydrogen, and after the chemical reaction, into electricity. Our goal is to integrate SereneU into single hybrid systems, which use a combination of different energy sources (batteries, generators and fuel cells). Providing reliable power, SereneU fuel cells are highly environmentally friendly, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and operating quietly.
At Advent, we strongly believe that methanol will be the fuel of the future for the global shipping industry, as well as an ideal means of energy storage, significantly contributing to the achievement of the ambitious goals of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
As a hydrogen carrier, methanol enables simpler storage and helps reduce supply chain costs, compared to pure hydrogen, and significantly enhances the safety of related processes and handling. As of 2020, the IMO has approved the use of methanol as a safe fuel for shipping, and it is worth noting that methanol can be easily integrated into the already existing supply infrastructure, which is not the case for pure hydrogen. Additionally, methanol appears to be the most likely energy source to power ships with green hydrogen (since green methanol is produced from green hydrogen).
The company recently announced a partnership to develop solutions for superyachts. How will the specific systems work and what effect will they have? Advent will work with Siemens Energy to develop a variable scale innovative power supply solution ranging from 50kW to 500kW and will have applications in a wide range of industries such as yachts.
This particular solution will be based on SereneU fuel cells and is initially expected to be used as a hybrid power source, replacing conventional diesel engines in procedures such as anchoring and maneuvering. At the same time, the SereneU fuel cells are expected to cover the energy needs of basic functions of the "hotel" cargo of the yachts.
We recently welcomed executives from Siemens Energy and Sanlorenzo to our facility in Aalborg, Denmark to discuss the next steps of a project aimed at developing high-temperature fuel cells, running on green methanol, for Sanlorenzo.
Is it possible to use the technological solutions developed by the company in industries such as shipping? And if so, in what way? Advent's fuel cells can be integrated into the propulsion systems of small ships (recreational boats, sailing ships and passenger ships), and regardless of the size of the ship, they can also be installed in hybrid power supply systems, replacing existing diesel generators. In addition, they can serve as auxiliary power units on larger ships and also in the electrification of docked ships from land (cold ironing), thus contributing to a more ecological operation of the ports.
At the same time, the suitability of SereneU fuel cells for use on passenger ships has been confirmed since 2017, where we successfully completed another project on MV Mariella and MS Innogy. In this case, the hybrid power system consisted of Advent's fuel cells and batteries. SereneU fuel cells were used as range extenders, allowing the passenger ship to power itself for a full day, emitting significantly less pollution than today's equivalent power systems.
What is the company's investment plan for the next few years? Where does he intend to invest? What position does our country have in planning? Our investment plan includes investments in both Europe and the USA. We recently completed construction of a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility on the Hood Park campus located in Charlestown, Massachusetts, just a few miles from the prestigious Harvard and MIT universities. The facility is already operational and is focused on the development and production of the next generation of cell components. The new production facility will allow us to significantly increase our production capabilities and respond to the growing global demand for innovative products in the renewable energy sector. At the same time, since 2006 we have maintained research and production activity in Patras. So, there is no doubt that Greece has been and will continue to be the springboard for our business initiatives and efforts.
In this context of our continuous feedback with the Greek state, we should also place "Green HIPo". Aiming to create approximately 650 direct and multiple indirect jobs in the coming years, we hope that the “Green HiPo” will become a magnet for highly qualified scientific and technical personnel who have studied in the country's world-renowned universities.
The purpose of Advent is to reverse the brain drain that Greece has been suffering from in recent years and turn it into a brain gain, bringing back to the country, knowledge and potential that it lost in previous years.

2023.03.20 01:23 logdog421 ALH. What’s it worth?
Hello all, looking at a 2003 ALH and trying to make sense of pricing given the market for these. Vehicle has been in socal it’s entire life, 255k on it. Owner has boxes of filters, gaskets, parts etc to take it to 500k.
Interior needs a clean up and most importantly the door handle fabric needs replaced. Headliner was replaced and looks great.
Biggest concerns regard the engine - two spots that have some oil around them and I’m not sure if that is normal. Looks caked on there. Owner also mentioned vanes clogging up or something and then sending it to limp mode. Not sure if this is an easy fix or just needs a turbo replacement.
Otherwise, owner also replaced CVS with non-OEM axles and they chirp every once in a while. Hard turns, on the highway etc. nothing crazy but it is there. Otherwise drives straight and very well on the highway with no issues.
Paint is obviously extremely faded given the location but I’m not really worried about that.
Given this history, what is this really worth? I’m tempted to offer $3800 but don’t want to insult the guy. Maybe $4200? But I’m still looking at a potential turbo replacement.
Pic for reference.
https://imgur.com/a/dzV9H2N Update: He came back at $4500 with a box full of air, fuel and oil filters and parts. Going to let it simmer for now.

2023.03.20 00:29 JSel4545 Trade in values / offers virtually
Hi everyone,
I recently negotiated for a new 2023 Honda pilot trail sport with a dealer 100% over the phone. Part of the negotiation included the value of my trade in a 2018 Subaru Forester touring XT. I had received offers from Carvana, Carmax and other dealers and leverage those offers during the negotiation.
I really enjoyed talking to the dealer, they have good ratings and reviews online, and placed $1000 nonrefundable deposit on the car.
Initially they offered to match the value of one of the treatments, $21,500. After receiving the final offer, I was a bit perturbed by the $700 non-negotiable dealer prep charge. After asking the sales person what does 4 PM for me it was to prep the car for delivery to the customer, which essentially was cleaning the interior and exterior of the car. As a result of receiving this final offer, I felt I needed to negotiate to recoup that money and pushed to have an extra thousand dollars added to my trade-in value bringing the total value to $22,500.
The sales manager was the one that actually stepped in and finalize this negotiation. There’s quite a lot of back-and-forth and after I asked to meet in the middle, we agreed to this phone number. He sent me the offer. I signed it and sent it back and asked if he would sign it, as well as the sales person and send it back to me.
I’m curious if there is anything binding about this contract? My assumption is no. However, with that being said, do you think they’ll honor this trade in value? The kicker here is they have not seen the vehicle. With that being said it is in better than average condition. The interior is totally fine no issues no blemishes the exterior is that of a six year old car.
Should I plan to have that trade-in value diminish? Is there any way they will honor this? It is a little disconcerting to know they didn’t ask for a picture. However, I was completely honest when they asked if the car need a new tires or new brakes. I said, “I have not replace the tires in sometime and I probably plan on doing that. I do not know the condition of the brakes but I’ve had no issues. I have had regular oil changes and filled up the car with premium gas exclusively, there is no warning lights or issues.”
The dealer appears highly rated. Is there anything I should do prior to receiving this car ensure that my trade-in value is honored?
