I have no use for the headlight washers. When they activate, they spray all over the fender and hood in addition to the headlight. Has anyone found a fuse that controls them? I've looked at Macan fuse diagrams for all three fuse boxes and can't find one for the headlight washers.
Has anyone shut these off?

Intellivision II blowing fuses
I got an Intellivision II console which is in really great phisical condition. However, the console would not turn on. After initial inspection -and following the Service Manual troubleshooting flow- noticed no AC voltage was getting to TP1 and TP2. Following the traces from the AC jack to the powerboard connector I quickly found the culprit. the 2A Pico fuse was blown.
I replaced the fuse with a new one, and got power flowing back again to the Power supply board. Hpwever, the console would not boot. A humming sound was coming from the power supply board and after a few minutes of testing the fuse blown again.
Long story-short, whenever I replace the fuse, after a few minutes of trouble-shooting it will blow again. So something may be wrong with the power supply -tested by removing the power board and the fuse would not blow.. of course, the console would not work either.
I have been trying to follow the troubleshooting guide and got struck at the next step, looking at TP8 -which is the control pin coming from the powereset switch on the mainboard. That pin should be at about +21 VDC once connected and powered down, go to zero VDC while pushing the reset button and then go up to +5 VDC, once powered on.
However, al I get is 9 VDC regardless of the state of the button. and if I leave the console powered on, the fuse will eventually blow.
I have probed different components with the multimeter trying to find any shorts. All diodes, resstors, caps, and transistors seem to be ok. The only odd behavior - and this is where my ignorance kicks in- was that I found all the tranformes pins (both input and output ones) to be shorted with the continuity test on the multimeter. Not sure if this is expected or not.
I removed the transformer from the board and noticed it has three sets of pins with colored wires on them. three pins are have green wires and the other three have red wires. The pins with same color wire, seem to be connected together. as those pins have continuity among them. However, the pins of different wire color are not shorted.

Having said that, because of the way these pins are connected to the power board, they all end up being shorted. This really defies me as I was not able to find a data sheet for this component. It seems odd to me that all these pins seems to end up shorted together.
Not sure how to continue troubleshooting this, voltage on TP8 (lower pin of the board connector) is not behaving as expected. However, I have no clue whether this might be connected to the issue with the transformer and where that humming noise is comming from.

2023.06.07 20:29 LawnCookie A/C blows air very inconsistently

I have a 2005 WRX and the a/c in it has been blowing air very inconsistently.
Sometimes when I start the car the air turns on immediately and works how it should. Other times the air does not come on when I start the car but will randomly start working halfway through my drive. And sometimes the air does not come on at all for my whole drive.
I have not been able to figure out much of a pattern to the air working except that driving on the freeway sometimes seems to help ‘jumpstart’ the fan?? A lot of the time when the air isn’t working if I go on the freeway it will start working while on the freeway and it will continue to work even after I’m off the freeway.
When it does blow air it can always do heat and cold easily, that is not an issue. Changing the fan speed and heat and cold does not have any effect on whether or not the air blows.
I have tried to look this up several times but I cannot seem to find anyone else with my same issue of the air sometimes working and sometimes not working. Also I did check my heater fan fuses and they look good still.

2023.06.07 20:18 Teddyworks Troubleshooting my in-laws mower.. Can a worn/loose drive belt cause a fuse to blow?

So my in-laws mower has been blowing a fuse after about 30 minutes of mowing. Its a ~2005 ExMark LazerZ. It’s the fuse that goes to the ignition switch and also to the PTO switch/PTO clutch.
My first thought was that the clutch was finally giving out since the PTO switch is only a year old. I find it odd that it takes about 30 minutes.
We did have the drive belt tensioning spring break about a month ago (the hook broke). The drive belt is definitely old and cracked, but after replacing the spring, the tension still seemed okay to me (although I’m not super experienced with this stuff).
Could a loose drive belt cause the engine to overheat and blow the fuse? Or is it likely the clutch?

Audio unit/steering wheel illumination issue
Hi i recently got a junkyard OEM head unit to get rid of the abomination that was previously in my car when I bought it (2004 RX8 6MT). I noticed at night with my lights on that none of my buttons were illuminated like they should be shown in the second picture from another 8. It’s not the end of the world but I like the look of the illuminated interior and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on ways to solve/troubleshoot this?
I checked the fuses and everything seems fine. I also looked at a PDF of the electrical diagram that showed the “Audio Unit Illumination” so I may look into ways to mess with that as well. The previous owner did install a metro kit that I then uninstalled to not sure if that may have something to do with it as well.
And a side-note, I also can’t seem to get my gauge cluster to change to the blue and red when I mess with the dimmer wheel and I thought that all 2004’s could do that but I could be wrong.
Trying to “restore” my car to its former glory so any tips or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I recently bought a seat Ibiza but the radio doesn’t work, it may just be a fuse so i do not want to waste time and money at a garage if it’s something as simple as that. When I looked in the fuse box the radio fuse is missing so I have got a new fuse but the fuse box doesn’t reflect the diagram in the manual with the car, so I am worried I may put the fuse in the wrong socket. Would this damage the car if I put the fuse in and quickly check if the radio works?

This bike was passed to me to learn on but it got abused from a much earlier previous owner. Rode it around the block yesterday after fixing clutch and replacing battery. Bike wouldn’t start at all today but that’s a separate problem. Removed seat/siding to access fuses and noticed that this tank/reservoiwhatever is open. I just cannot for the life of me figure what this is and google is riddled with Intruder 1400 and Volusia answers.
All I know about it is that it states Suzuki ⚪️38A50 and ⚫️38A60 on the side of it. I keep getting various parts when searching.
I’ve found owner’s service manual online, but no diagram had this depicted.

Ok so I need help. As the title says, my passenger headlight and break light aren't working. The high beams work, turn signals work, running lights work, reverse lights work. It's only the passenger side low beam and break light. Fuses are good, I changed all bulbs. Could it be a relay? Wouldn't both sides go out in that case? ..I'm having a hard time finding that diagram. And honestly I'm kinda stumped as to what to try next

2023.06.06 12:51 JeshSpaghetti Need help figuring out how to fix left side lights on 2005 Chevy Aveo LS

Hello, I own a 2005 Chevy Aveo LS and recently came across a problem that doesn't seem to have an easy fix for an average car owner like myself. To put it simply, the tail light and front side marker light on the left side of the car won't work. The thing that makes this strange for me and really throws me for a loop is that the brake lights work completely fine. This only happened recently and have been fine for the 2 years that I've owned the vehicle.
To potentially fix this, I immediately went to my local autozone and got the bulbs necessary to replace my left rear lights. Taking a look at the old bulbs showed that they had some wear and tear but not burnt out or unusable. Still I installed the new ones, and the problem persisted. So obviously not the bulbs, I inspected the fuses of my car to see if one of them was blown, pulling out every single one of them due to the fact that I wasn't 100% sure which fuse would be responsible for my problem. Every one of my fuses had that metal piece in the middle still intact, but I understand they can still be faulty. So I swapped out some of the more worn down ones with my provided spares, even changing around some fuses amongst themselves to see if anything changed and nothing worked. Today I took apart my front left headlight to get access to the front left side marker light below it and inspected the bulbs with a continuity tester. Sure thing all bulbs were good to go, nothing looked like it was blocking or broke exposed wiring. And just like the rear tail light, when I use my left blinker the side marker lights come on and work exactly as intended. Only when I leave these lights on in their normal "default" state that they do not work.
I seriously have no idea what to do or where go next for this aside from seeing a professional. I still want to try and fix it myself though since I have the tools and time and its a nice learning experience, though if this something more advanced like broken or faulty internal circuitry, then I suppose I'll have to go get help. However any sort of insight and advice is greatly welcomed and I'll keep taking cracks at it and researching in the meantime.
TL;DR - left tail light wont work but turns on when I brake, and left side marker light doesn't shine but works when signaling. Tried replacing bulbs and checking fuses, not sure where to go from here.

Posting for a friend. Drivers side front turn signal keeps going out not sure of the cause. So far the correct fuse is being used, bulb socket has been replaced I believe 4 times now one of which I helped with. Wires are wrapped, soldered and heat shrinked at the splices and don’t appear to be the failure point. I read a previous post on here about water getting in the housing and I don’t believe that is the issue as water has never been seen in the housing, also I believe the new housing is a sealed LED switchback unit, but the issue arose back with halogen bulbs. Also the car was drove immediately after replacing today and it is already out. I mention the fuse because my friend also says the bulb sockets he is replacing are burnt every time, which is strange because of the low draw and no oversized fuse. At this point if anyone has a diagram of the signal wires driver and passenger side that would be appreciated, I’m more than likely going to get a multimeter out and test continuity and resistance along the whole wire when I get the time.

2023.06.05 14:35 mythical_legend I just bought one of those 300 piece spare fuse kits from eBay. Are they safe to use? Does the internal wiring matter? Is the tester safe to use?

so I bought one of those 300 keys spare fuse replacement kits from eBay for about 10 bucks just to have and now I want to see about using it.

my first question is are these fuses safe to use? when i bought them i thought they were just fuses and if anything happens theyll blow but now im a little concerned about their quality since they arent painted with their amperage (like my 20 year old fuses in the car) and instead has a little diagram.
second even though i pulled a 20amp spare fuse and compared it against the new 20 amp the one i need right now is the red 10amp. the one in the car, like the yellows here, have "n" shapes but the new red ones have the swiggle like in the picture. surely its just a design thing but i wanna make sure theyre the same before i cause any damage.
third, and this might be a stupid one, but what are the shorter fuses for? i put 2 yellows in the picture to show you what i mean. the box has bigger fuses too but the shorter ones and the "normal" ones are in the same "square" so are they interchangeable?
and finally is the tester safe to use? i saw a video on youtube that said all i need to do is connect the alligator clip to metal and then use the tester end on the opening of the top of the fuses. just wanna make sure that using a cheap tester is safe.
