An interesting thing happened to me tonight After a day of fighting with you online, I went to my altar and asked God to heal you of the poverty and addiction in your life that causes you to hurt and steal from other people. I meant it genuinely, because I know if you were a mentally healthy person you never would have treated a friend the way you did me.
I did not pray for your healing so that you would come back to me, because I genuinely wish to be free from your company. Once too much pain has been caused with zero remorse from the other side shown, there is no coming back. I am not into faking relationships with people just to make them feel better. I don't feel like a friend or a family member to you. I feel like a stranger who has compassion on another wounded human being that needs divine intervention in his life so that he can stop harming himself and other people. I hope you do get the help and support you need, even though I am unable to provide that for you because of the corner you pushed me into where basically helping you means I die.
Tonight as I did pray for your healing instead of the usual 'please God punt him into a different Universe as far away from me as humanly possible, or just kill him off so I don't have to ever hear from him again.' I asked him to heal you so that you don't have to feel like you're in survival mode to the point where you feel such tactics are necessary. After praying for this, I felt free of all the burdens you tried to put on to me this past year, of all the destruction you tried to do to my psyche. For the first time the heaviness was lifted and I realized how much more powerful God is than you. I remembered the miracles he is capable of performing and what he has already shown me. I felt stupid for ever worrying about you or your group at all. You are really insignificant specks compared to God, yet you pretend to be large because the reality of your small scale and vulnerability makes you frightened. It doesn't matter though, God will do what he thinks is best for you, regardless of how I feel. That was another huge burden off of my shoulders tonight.
I know you will have more retorts and try to trigger me into caring again because the idea of life without fighting with me is scary for you. Who are you if you're not running away from me or punishing me? What does life have in store for you, once I am no longer a piece in an imaginary game you made up? Written in six months, their book _Power and Progress: Our Thousand-Year Struggle Over Technology and Prosperity, _argues that widespread prosperity is not the natural consequence of technological progress, but instead only happens when there is a conscious effort to bend the direction and gains from technological advances away from the elite.
Tyler and Simon discuss the ideas in the book and on Simon’s earlier work on finance and banking, including at what size a US bank is small enough to fail, the future of deposit insurance, when we’ll see a central bank digital currency, his top proposal for reforming the IMF, how quickly the Industrial Revolution led to widespread prosperity, whether AI will boost wages, how he changed his mind on the Middle Ages, the key difference in outlook between him and Daron, how he thinks institutions affect growth, how to fix northern England’s economic climate, whether the UK should join NAFTA, improving science policy, the Simon Johnson production function, whether MBAs are overrated, the importance of communication, and more.

COWEN: If institutions are the key to economic growth, as many people have argued — Daron and yourself to varying degrees — why, then, is prospective economic growth so hard to predict?
In 1960, few people thought South Korea would be the big winner. It looked like their institutions were not that good. It was a common view: oh, Philippines, Sri Lanka — then Ceylon — would do quite well. They had English language to some extent. They seemed to have okay education. And those two nations have more or less flopped. South Korea took off. It’s now, per capita income roughly equal to France or Japan. Doesn’t that mean it’s _not_ about institutions? Because institutions are pretty sticky.
JOHNSON: Yes, I think of institutions as being part of the hysteresis effect, if you can get it in a positive way, that if you grow and you strengthen institutions, which South Korea has done, it makes it much harder to relapse. There are plenty of countries that had spurts of growth without strong institutions and found it hard to sustain that.
You make a very good point about the early 1960s, Tyler. There wasn’t that much discussion that I’ve seen about institutions per se, but education — yes, absolutely. Culture — people made the same comparisons. They said, “Confucian culture is no good or won’t lead to growth. That’s a problem, for example, for South Korea.” That turned out to be wrong.
I think institutions are sticky. I think history matters a lot for them. They’re not predestination, though. You could absolutely carve your own way, but the carve-your-own way is harder when you start with institutions that are more problematic, less democratic, more autocratic control, less protection of property rights.
All of these things can go massively wrong, but building better institutions and making them sustainable, like Eastern Europe — the parts of the former Soviet Empire that managed to escape the Soviet influence after 1989, 1991 — I think those countries have worked long and hard, with very mixed results in some places, to build better institutions. And the EU has helped them in that regard, unquestionably.

The conversation was heading towards a more personal/political topic which I did not try to provoke. *i am already comitted to drexel for the fall and am not planning on transferring. also i dont want this post to sound like i have a huge ego or whatever, even if it comes off that way im just curious on what my options shouldve been instead of the colleges i applied to
due to the fact i was originally planning on commuting and the schools that were near me were either pretty much a safety or a reach, everywhere i applied to all were either <20% acceptance rate or >75% acceptance rate. this left me with not a lot of options for schools that i feel like wouldve fit my academic record the best and although drexel seems to have a decent program, i have always had the issue with wanting people to see me as "smarter than average" or some bullsht so going to a school with a pretty high acceptance rate with gpa/sat stats below what i have (plus the fact that i was rejected from two schools ive wanted to go to since like 7th grade) made me feel kinda icky.

white male (idfk what gender i am so lets leave it at that), ~10 miles from philly, middle class (~120k a year?), local public school (nothing special), disabled (diagnosed ocd and autism [also severe depression/anxiety but idk if that counts as a 'disability'])

act - didnt take

A Russian lawmaker has made an outlandish proposal to boost Russia's army - using "Aggressive" stray dogs as military assets.
"We have a lot of cynologists in our country who can teach dogs all sorts of different skills," Tumusov said.
He added: "Cynologists can train large and aggressive dogs and send them to the Special Military Operation zone to help rescue wounded people and take part in mine clearance."

my climate control has stopp resonding. It lights up, and works (its set to Cold / A/C / fan is blowing. i just cant change any settings at all. All the other buttoms on the dash work (hazards, 4wd, etc). Any ideas?
Sidenote, i have been having some weird electrical issues lately for some reason. The doors have been locking a few times while driving... like multiple times in a row. My rear window stopped working momentarily.

I just bought a new phone and had all my data transferred from old to new. When I go to sign in to any apps through Google now, I type in my email and hit next, but nothing happens. I try to hit forgot email and nothing happens. I type in any other email and nothing happens. This happens with every app that I try to sign with Google on. I was only able to get in when I signed in on Safari. I've deleted the apps and redownloaded them as well as restarting my phone more times than I can count. Has anyone had the same issue or know how to fix this? I reached out to Google but got no answer.
