2023.05.29 00:14 notFrenchToast What is the proper maintenance schedule for a '17 Hybrid?
Since it's a hybrid, typical maintenance schedules don't seem to apply. I just passed 100k, and if I was following a normal maintenance schedule I would have changed my brakes twice. However, I'm still running original brakes at around 7mm.
So far, I have been doing services based on need instead of recommendation. I just keep to a strict 10k oil/filter change, and a vehicle inspection alongside it at the dealership. I changed my transmission fluid and spark plugs at 75k, and that's about it.
Is this okay? Am I slowly ruining my car by not getting all the recommended services on time? Is there something I should do right now?

2023.05.28 22:57 Miru8112 Today I cracked 5 PR, my VO2 Max Rose by one and the erz wants me to rest for 3.5 days. I'm proud of myself today 😁
| I never had a recovery time of 3.5 days. I never had a readyness of 4 either. When I started running with the garmin 9 months ago I ran 5k, on the edge of my lungs capacity, in 45 minutes. Today, for the first time, cracked the 30 minute mark. I ran 10k only once in my life before, last September. I had a few strong runs in between, but they usually only lasted 8 or 9K in the end. Today, after I ran said 5k I still felt strong and I kept running. I wanted to at least try and up my "longest run" PR from 10.2 km to... Well, at least 10.3 km. Baby steps. When I started those 9 months ago, my VO2 Max was set at 41. It took me 3 month to raise it to 42 and that's where I stuck ever since. Today it rose by 1 to 43. 😃 In the end I ran a (for me) crazy 15 kilometers. As I felt incomprehensible (to me) strong even after 11 km, I just kept going. My will and energy... and knees... started to deteriorate at km 13. 5, but at this point there was no way I wouldn't try to hit those 15 km today! By the end of my run I was happy, exhausted and broke 5 PR: fastest 5k, fastest 10k, fastest mile, fastest {I forgot} and longest run, and my VO2 Max moved for the first time in 6 month 😁 I am fully aware, that this is wimpy for like 99% of you out there, but to me this is nothing but sensational. Thank you for your attention. Stay safe. Have a great week. submitted by Miru8112 to GarminWatches [link] [comments] |

Second owner has a ton of money and work in to it and was asking a pretty high $17,000 CAD. It is a bit of a unicorn but still that seems pretty high. The LBJ are MOOG which is a bit of a concern to me, anyone have any experience with them? Also what do you think is a fair price? submitted by EoC77 to ToyotaTundra [link] [comments] |
2023.05.28 22:41 hotheadnchickn Tendonosis that won’t improve
Hi all, 38F here, would love some advice or perspectives. Health history: healthy weight, chronic migraine controlled with Botox, low-dose gabapentin for sleep, and some minor and fluctuating autoimmune symptoms (UCTD). History of tendon issues - tendon and nerve RSI issues in arms that have been a problem for a decade, also tendonosis in glutes from weight lifting that still has minor symptoms after about 8 months of PT. Minorly hypermobile but EDS has been ruled out.
About two years ago, I woke up one day with terrible pain in my sit bone area on both sides. I had been doing yoga for a few years and “yoga butt” is a common injury - tho I was very careful about not overstretching, did strength training as well as yoga, and had not had any pain leading up to that morning. Sitting or stretching the hamstring triggers pain at the ischial tuberosity that will throb at night and can last for days. My walking capacity was also reduced.
I bagan PT with the diagnosis of proximal hamstring tendonopathy. I started with isometrics and working up to include a number of eccentric exercises. My sitting tolerance slowly increased (but not stretching). Things were going well.
Nine months later, I took a long weekend trip, driving five hours each way. I was nervous but had no pain on the way there or after the drive. No pain on the drive back either. But the next day I woke up with really bad pain.
We reduced my PT exercises and slowly worked back up. The left side recovered but the right never really did. I could sit for an hour at a time by arranging hand towels so that there was no pressure on the ischial tuberosity.
Despite PT that I did religiously (and I believe my PT is very skilled and knowledgable) it just didn’t improve. Last fall, a year and a half after the original injury, I started seeing a very highly regarded local ortho doc. Imaging showed tendonosis that looked mild with some calcifications.
We started with a cortisone injection to the bursa. I was very sore after and I could no longer sit upright even with my hand towel arrangement. That was November and I have not been able to sit properly upright without instant pain since then. Doc and I were surprised by this result. My workout capacity has never gone back up to what it was before this procedure.
In January we tried dry needling of the tendon. Doc said he could feel scar tissue as he did it which was a good sign it might help. Again soreness and no detectable improvement. Again had to reduce PT load and slowly try to work back up.
In April, we did PRP. My baseline soreness is increased since this procedure, my exercise capacity has seriously reduced, and my walking capacity (before pissing off the tendon) had reduced from about 10k to 5k.
Dr said PRP was the last option.
I am really disabled - I can’t sit at a restaurant or dinner table, I can’t drive more than about fifteen minutes, I can’t fly, I can’t work sitting, I have had to cancel important plans, and I’m just going to Zoom events so I can do them reclined. My professional and social life are very impacted. I also hurt my tricep tendons by the elbow working on a laptop reclined for a few weeks instead of at my ergo setup - they also don’t seem to be healing well even tho I’m completely using voice for computing now.
My PT (my most trusted person in this) suggested I don’t do more needle-based interventions for the leg and maybe try blood flow restriction therapy.
No one understand why my body had reacted as it has to these interventions, why I progress slowly in PT in general with all these injuries, why I am so prone to tendon injuries, or what to do next.
I’ll see the ortho again soon but he already told me there’s nothing he can offer after PRP. Would love your ideas or suggestions about what is wrong and how to fix it.

2023.05.28 22:37 dogmaticapatheist I found a lvl9 brute on battlefield-corpse looters quest from cortia for my party of 7-lvl6, 1-lvl7 and a lvl8 bear
2023.05.28 21:36 Arandomglitchtalefan Part two of operation copper! (Other parts linked in replys)
“We’ll, she must be suicidal.” Aron said as he pointed his weapon at the figure.
“How about instead of just shooting everyone we try to take her alive, she looks important.” Cole said.
“Cole’s right.” Gram replied. “In other words, aim for non lethal.”
“Bite me! If she decides to fight she’s gonna get a fight!” Uzi said as she pointed her railgun at the figure.
“Damn right.” Aron said as he smiled.
Somehow even with a ballistic face mask on the Figure looked to roll her 2 red glowing ‘eyes’.
“I guess I’ll just hold our friend here while you guys deal with that.” V said as she also rolled her eyes.
Popping the smoke bomb, it suddenly filled the room before anyone could fire, still everyone had the same reaction of shooting into it. V with her MP5SD, Aron with his AR, Cole with his AA12 and Gram with his MP5K. Gunfire rang out throughout the hallways and casings fell onto the floor but everyone ran out of ammo and reloaded except for V who held her gun facing the ceiling while Uzi held her railgun and scanned the smoke, however strangely nothing was there. Thad meanwhile grabbed a metal pipe from the ground as he backed up behind V.
“Coward.” V said under her breath as she glanced at Thad.
“Hey! I’m not a MD ok?” Thad replied.
Silence lay upon the team as everyone wondered if whoever that figure was was dead, gone, or something else. Unfortunately they were wrong.
Emerging from the smoke the figure seemed to dive through the air and onto Aron clunking him against a wall. Firing her M45 at his chest each of the shots ricocheting off his armor and behind her with only slight dents left, and eventually running out of ammo as the M45’s slide stayed back and each gunshot was replaced by a constant clicking.
“What is it sweetheart? Didn’t bring AP rounds?” Said Aron as he smirked. Everyone else trained their weapons on the figure as she held Aron.
Annoyed, the figure tossed the M45 in the air to catch it by the barrel and pistol whipping Aron’s helmet hitting so hard it knocked the night vision off its mounting onto the floor and dented his helmet with blood staining the wound.
Aron didn’t let himself get hit without a fight as he immediately pulled a knife from his side and tried to stab the figure, however she was faster.
V rolled her eyes and was about to fire on the figure when the MD beneath her saw his chance and got up fast enough to make V unbalanced, he then slammed his cuffs on a nearby pipe hard enough to break them as he turned around and activated his blade arms. V rolled her eyes and did the same as her visor turned into an >< before she started to fight the MD.
Backflipping off Aron and reloading her handgun so fast that the fresh mag went in before the spent one hit the ground the Figure shot the AA12 out of Cole’s hands before he fired and the MP5K out of Gram’s and as each of them saw this they drew knives and attempted to fight the Figure. Holstering the handgun with a stylish spin, she drew a silver kukri that had the unique appearance of the blade looking like it was constantly reforming itself over and over again like it was some kind of anomaly.
“Fascinating….” Gram said as he intensified the grip on his knife.
Wasting no time the two attempted to fight the Figure charging at her from both sides, dodging both of their attacks she grabbed Cole’s arm and spun him around hitting the floor with the floor beneath him cracking it. As this happened Gram attempted to get the figure while she wasn’t looking but she somehow was and elbowed him in the face cracking the helmet’s visor and knocking the Night vision off its mount. Gram however didn’t let up as he used his leg to suddenly kick the figures, making her unstable and slightly loosen her grip on Cole who immediately plunged his knife into the left red eye on her mask.
The figure only staggered backwards as she calmly took out the knife with no blood staining it. “Impressive, but you shouldn’t have done that.” She said,
The figure immediately threw Cole’s knife straight at his gut, spraying blood everywhere as he immediately held it and applied pressure, she then kicked Gram across the hall, slamming into one of the walls making a slight dent as he was knocked unconscious. Aron tried one last time to shoot the figure as he loaded his sidearm, however he was too slow when the figure managed to dodge the first bullet shot and punch Aron’s head into the wall knocking him out like the others. As she looked around to see Uzi aiming her railgun right at her. However Uzi underestimated the figure as she used her powers to try to encase her in some metal. However she was fast and quickly escaped before jumping directly behind her. And as Uzi was about to say BITE ME! The breath coming from her voice box to do so the figure spoke with the same Voicecoder as before. “Did any of these guys ever tell you to not get close to someone with a Melee weapon?” she said letting out a very short maniacal laugh “.... What?” said Uzi But it was too late to recognize her mistake. Reacting quickly the figure put her arm over the railgun aiming it towards the floor, Punching Uzi the the Face with the force to Crack the Visor and splatter Oil onto herself before Elbowing the railgun away from Uzi knocking her back and she stumbled over to the ground. As she looked up she saw the figure aiming her own railgun at her using her elbow to brace it along with shouldering it too.
However V unexpectedly pounced on the figure, knocking her back, the figure looked back to the MD to see him knocked out on the floor with a cracked visor.
“I see you’ve dealt with my friend.” The figure said.
“Your next!” V said with a smile. However before she could do anything the figure expertly flipped them over, causing V to be on the ground and the figure on top.
Before V could do anything else the figure's kukri was at her throat. However then Thad came charging in with the pipe as he screamed in what seemed like a sad attempt at a battle cry.
The figure caught Thad’s pipe before it hit her, she then looked at Thad and said in an annoyed tone. “Civilians….” She then kicked Thad into a nearby wall, making a crack on the wall as Thad slumped down from it, knocked out.
The figure then turned her attention to V and said. “You're lucky you're worth more alive.” She said as she pulled out a pair of what looked to be those MD cuffs and was about to put them on V when suddenly she was knocked off V by a punch.
V looked to her right to see Red standing there shaking off her hand before pulling out her sword.
“Leave. Her. Alone.” Red said.
“About damn time I found you.” The figure said as she got up.
“I’ll deal with her, V, get the others to the medical bay.”
“That’s a stupid idea. I’m staying and fighting with you.” V said in response.
However the figure snapped her fingers, suddenly the MD that jumped into the vents earlier came out now fully regenerated at the figures side.
“Deal with V, I’ll take care of Red.” She said as the MD nodded.
Then the MD charged and tackled V unexpectedly as Red just barely managed to block an attack from the figure with her blade.
Red tried to slice at the figure, however she was faster and dodged out of the way as she went in for her own slice. However it was Red's turn, Red immediately slid to the left and grabbed the figure’s hand holding the knife before allowing the figure.
The figure responded by kicking Red’s legs from under her as she tried to pounce on her. However Red rolled to the side and used her sword to try to slice at the figure, however she barely missed and instead sliced the figure's hand. The figure’s hand bled, however it wasn't normal blood, it was black but not oil. The figure's blood spilled out of her hand before she stopped the bleeding. She looked at her hand and back at Red.
The figure immediately charged at Red however instead of a tackle she threw her kukri at Red, causing Red to grab it midair but leaving her open to the figure then tackling her. She tackled Red into a wall and pinned her to it as she held her kukri to Red’s neck.
“He trained you well. But not good enough, traitor.” The figure said. Just then a bullet shot was heard as the other MD collapsed, injured and holding his side as V put her foot on his core. V then punched the MD on the ground instantly knocking him out.
The figure then said. “I don’t have time for this.” She then picked up Thad’s nearby pipe and threw it at V as she was still reveling in her victory. The pipe hit V and knocked her out immediately.
“Now back to you.” The figure said, turning her head to Red. Red then immediately tried to head but the figure, however she was unsuccessful as the figure used her own momentum and knocked her to the ground. The figure then put her foot on Red’s throat and started to slowly squish it.
“Say goodbye.” The figure said as Red started to have trouble breathing.
Suddenly a voice from down the hall said. “Let her go.”
The figure turned her head to see a man in a white trench coat with a black shirt and pants beneath and a black fedora on his head. Peeking from his hat was what looked like blond hair, he looked relatively skinny.
“I said. Let her go.” He said as he walked closer.
I don’t have time for this.” The figure said now even more annoyed.
The figure got off of Red as she breathed in heavily and held her throat.
The figure ran towards the man as he just stood there with a smile. The figure leaped at the man, however he expertly dodged out of the way causing her to land behind him, she then pulled her kukri out and tried to slash at the man with lightning speed. However he dodged all of them without a problem, all with a smile on his face.
Suddenly he made his first move, grabbing the figure's hand wielding the blade and threw her behind him as he kicked her as hard as he could away from him. She got up instantly and went in for another attack, however she didn’t expect a hard and quick punch by the man directly in the face. This punch was so hard her mask broke off her face. She held her face in what looked like pain. However she kept her right hand blocking her face as she used her left to grab her now broken mask. She then turned around and threw something on the ground that made some type of portal that she immediately leaped through before it dissipated.
The man then went towards Red as she slowly got up with a cough. “Who are you….” Red said out of breath.
V and Thad also got up with a brown as Uzi coughed up some oil, she was dazed as she used her abilities to start regenerating her cracked visor.
“I'm your reinforcements.” The man said as he looked around.
At that moment, Aron, Gram and Cole got up. Cole still held his wound as he staggered up. Aron also got up and took off his helmet as he held his head in pain.
“It looks to me you all need a trip to the medical bay. She kicked your asses.” The man said with a chuckle.
“You didn’t answer my question. Who are you?” Red said, now a little annoyed.
“I’m Dr Alto Clef. That’s at least the version you can pronounce. I'm here with my associate…. If he wasn’t outside.” Clef said.
“Dr Alto Clef…. In the flesh.” Gram said in astonishment.
“Hell ya! I'm a big fan, Clef! I loved that time you killed five reality warpers with an out of date 9mm!” Aron said as his head pain seemed to disappear, or at least he ignored it.
“We’ll i'm glad to see my accomplishments are getting some attention, Shaw owes me five dollars now!” Clef said with a chuckle.
“Wait wait, am I supposed to know who this is?” V said, confused.
“Ya, this is going wayyy too fast for my liking.” Uzi replied her visor now fully healed.
“Ughhhh…. My head….” Thad said as he barely got up holding his head in pain as he tried to force himself to stand up straight. “How can you guys even walk?….”
“Training.” Everyone said in unison.
“Anyway, back to my point! Who are you really?” V said.
“We’ll sweetheart I’m the one and only Dr Clef, hero of the foundation and killer of all things that threaten your very existence.” Clef replied with a wink. V rolled her eyes.
“Wait, weren’t you in a thing with 173 a couple years ago? Why are you suddenly flirting with her?” Aron said, confused.
“He what?!?” Red said now fully wide eyed and surprised. “173!?!??!”
“It’s a long story.” Gram replied with a sigh.
“Ya well it didn’t work out…. Mostly because of this war and the fact that it tried to kill me with everything it had last time I saw it. So now I’m looking for something else to fill that void…. That and the fact that talking to a statue gets boring really fast.” Clef said as he took out a cigarette from his coat, lit it, and smoked it.
“You know doing that will kill you right? It will shorten your lifespan by ten years at least.” Uzi said.
“Not me, I’m fucking immortal.” Clef said casually.
“Your what?” V said, confused.
“I’m immortal. Listen, you don’t make a child with a goddess and not become what is basically a demigod, ok.” Clef said as he smoked another cigarette.
“…. What.” Red said unbelievably confused.
“Long story.” Gram said.
“Well. Anyone want to stop standing here and turn on the generator? If so, follow me.” Clef said as he started to lead the way. “Oh, and you better go to the medical bay.” Clef pointed at Cole who was breathing heavily making sure not to move the knife.
“G-Good point….” Cole said as he walked off.
“Wait, do you even know the way to the generators?” Gram said.
“Of course! He’s Clef!” Aron said excitedly.
“…. Good point.” Gram said with a sigh.
“Fine! I’ll follow him. Get those cuffs on that MD V.” Red said, clearly angry about Clefs presence.
“Thad, you go back, you're not cut out for this.” Uzi said as she patted Thad on the head before she went along with the other’s.
“I figured that out….” Thad said as he wobbled back where he came.
V was grabbing some cuffs and putting them on the MD and cuffing him to a pipe in the wall. However Clef noticed her behind them and said. “Come on, what was your name, V right? The names Clef if you haven’t heard. Ah what am I saying, you’ll be screaming my name later after I’m done.” Clef winked and chuckled to himself.
“If you try to flirt with me again, I’ll personally rip your face off, I’m not interested and never will be, I’m not into humans!” V replied.
“Sheesh, is she always like this?” Clef said.
“You’d be surprised.” Aron said.
N was still running looking for his friends and seemed to stop by the same hallway sixteen times. They all looked the exact same, still carrying his special admirer who seemed to be muttering in her sleep about something, all he could hear in this panic was his name and also something she called a demon.
As N stopped to ponder this, another unfriendly pair of Yellow eyes emerged from the darkness, watching him from the vents as the distant sound of gunfire and the dripping of blood still echoed through the halls, as N kept Pondering and as the MD pounced something he could have never expected what happened next. Fennec lept from N’s hold and onto the MD, her handcuffs shattering as the blue glitched red and a symbol of three lines emerging from an ace of spades glitched red in place of eyes or a MD ><, and as she changed her left armor into her Pincer blades, the MD attempting to parry each strike finding each successful block cracking her blade more and more as she had to step further back without landing a hit on Fennec as she laughed maniacally the laughter causing her mouth to open the standard MD sharp-toothed smile. The kindness and warmth from earlier was gone, replaced by a fury unlike the MD had ever seen even from her own. This was no Angel. This was a demon. And as the MD’s blades finally cracked ‘Fennec’ leapt onto her, knocking the MD to the ground cutting both her lower arms off, splattering oil onto herself as the MD screamed in terror and pain, the demon grabbing at her head with the standard MD Claws, tearing off chunks of her visor and consuming it, oil staining her mouth and then reaching down and starting to tear up her chest. Ripping out some entrails and eating those too, unstable maniacal laughter being interrupted by the consumption of the MD’s insides. Deciding to end it ‘Fennec’ shoved the last tube in her mouth and stabbed the MD in the core and then cut off its head letting the oil from that leak into her mouth and then dropping it, when it stopped leaking oil with a thunk as it hit the ground. As the ace symbol dissipated Fen’s eyes switched back to their normal oval shape and as she looked at herself and the very dead MD on the floor her eyes emptied with fear as she backed up against a wall shaking slightly, starting to hyperventilate as she looked at her oil-stained blades. “L-Let’s never speak of this again….” Fennec said as she looked at N, wiping the oil off her mouth.
“Ok…. I’m very much traumatized!” N said, giving a thumbs up with a forced smile.
With that they continued walking through the halls, suddenly when they turned a corner N and Fennec bumped into the rest of the team, now with Clef.
“HOLY! GET DOWN N!” Yelled Aron as he pointed his gun at Fennec. Gram did the same as the panicked oval eyes filled her face.
“Wanna answer us as to why you're with the MD that tried killing us just a few hours ago!?!?” Uzi said as she pointed her railgun at Fen.
“Wait! S-She’s fine ok? She helped me.” N said as he tried to calm everyone down.
“I highly doubt that.” V said.
“Hey V…. I’ve heard a lot about you!” Fennec said, trying to sound friendly.
“How exactly can we trust her? Give me one reason?” Red said.
“…. She’s not killing us right now? Plus she could’ve killed me while we were alone.” N replied.
Everyone stood still for a few moments.
“We’ll…. Ignoring that…. Oh! Hey guys.” V said. “Have fun?”
“Ughhhhh Yea! Totally!” N said.
“You're obviously hiding something, but I could care less. Anyways, let's get to that generator.” V said.
“What I was thinking.” Red said as she glanced at Clef with suspicion.
“Say, your N right? I’ve heard about you.” Clef said as he looked at N.
“You have?” N asked, confused. “Am I famous!”
“No not at all, I just heard about you from your file. Serial designation N, made by Anderson robotics as a dissemembly drone. Over a hundred confirmed kills. Not a big number compared to V over here.” Clef said with a snicker.
“Oh….” N said now a little sad.
“What about me!” Fennec said. “Am I famous?”
“No, even less than N, I couldn’t even find a file for you.” Clef said.
“Oh….” Fennec said, also sad.
“We should be just a few halls to the containment cells.” Gram said.
“Yea I want this done as soon as possible please.” Uzi said with an eye roll.
“Same.” V said.
“Then stop lollygagging and move!” Red said, now visibly impatient.
As they moved back through the halls, they managed to finally find the now broken doors to the containment cells, they were crooked and looked bent. Inside were two more MD’s, one female and one male. The male one had Jane held against a wall as the female chuckled. The male one had his right arm turned into a blade as he held Jane up with his left, his blade arm was up to her throat. The male MD had the same orange jumpsuits every other MD had and so did the female. The male one had straight black hair while the female had long light brown hair.
Suddenly the female one noticed the team now staring at them. Suddenly the Male grabbed Jane and held her in front of him with his blade to her neck as the female ran behind the male MD and turned her right arm into a submachine gun before pointing it at the team.
“STAY BACK! OR SHE GETS IT!” The male yelled as he held his blade to Jane’s throat. Jane was awake and held her arms to the MD’s blade arm and tried in vain to pull it off her to no avail.
The MTF pulled their weapons and pointed them at the MD’s, Uzi did the same with her railgun as V did the same with her right arm. Clef pulled out his magnum with his right hand and pointed it at the male MD while Red unsheathed her sword and Fen changed her right arm into what seemed to be a modded arm cannon and pointed it at the female one.
“Put it down.” Clef said simply.
“MAKE US!” The female yelled with a chuckle.
“What do you want for her release?” Gram said.
“We want our own freedom!” The male MD yelled.
“I say we just shoot them.” Uzi said as he studied her railgun.
“The chances of hitting Jane are too high, trust me I calculated it.” V replied.
“You sure are fast when it comes to that.” Red said, glancing at V.
“I’m literally a robot, I’ve told you this before.” V replied while Red, looking embarrassed, nodded.
“Let her go tin cans!” Aron yelled.
“MAKE US! FLESH BAG!” The female MD yelled.
Suddenly a bullet shot rang out, however it didn’t come from any of the team, it came from behind the MD’s, the bullet hit the male one directly in the core as he yelled in pain before falling dead. Jane moved quickly to the side. Leaving the female MD in shock.
“I don’t think you're in a position to make demands any more.” Aron said with a smirk.
The female MD then reluctantly turned her arm back to normal and slowly raised her hands as the team moved in closer. Gram immediately placed a pair of the cuffs on the MD as he restrained her tail as well, all with a gun at her core. Jane looked behind her as everyone else did as well. Behind Jane was Lizzy holding a MTF rifle, she immediately put it down as she saw everyone looking at her.
“H-Hey guys.” She said.
“Gram, get that WD and MD under control.” Clef said.
“Didn’t expect to see you here.” Jane said. “I also noticed your new friend.”
“To answer your first question, no one truly does. To answer your second question, she kinda just decided to tag along.” Clef replied.
“You two know each other?” Uzi said.
“Yep, I was stationed at site 19 while Clef was there, mostly to decommission another reality warper.” Jane replied. “Anyway enough about him, where’s my rifle?”
“I have no idea.” N said with a shrug.
“Oh I know! You left in the habitation sector thing!” Fennec said.
“Huh, we’ll anyway get this generator back on and make sure the area is secured.” Jane said.
“I’m getting something near the colony exit, looked like three MD’s, the last ones by the looks of it.” Gram said as he showed his iPad. He had cuffed the female MD to a nearby wall.
“We'll need to go and stop them now are we?” Aron said.
“Yep, follow me I know a shortcut!” Uzi yelled as she ran out with everyone following her.
Meanwhile back at the exit of the colony, a couple MD’s were just starting to get to the exit, they stole a keycard off a dead foundation guard a few halls ago, and now had access to the door.
“Finally! Even if the sun is out I’ll be happy to actually see it again!” One said.
“Don’t get your hopes up, there could still be guards.” Another said.
“We’ll just fly off, no worries.” The third one replied.
“Oh right!” The other said a chuckle as he swiped the card on the door.
However instead of the cold welcoming of the outside, they instead were met by a man wearing a lab coat, he had a red amulet around his neck and smirked as he held a large gun labeled, ‘Micro HID’.
“What, says the dead guys?” The man said.
“What-“ The MD’s said at once before suddenly with a burst of energy from the Micro they were all disintegrated.
Just then the others got to the exit to see a pile of ash next to the man.
“Oh, hey Clef!” The man said as he waved. He had ginger hair, black eyes, white skin, and a small stubble beard that was barely noticeable.
“Dr Elias Shaw, what are you doing here?” Jane said.
“Ahh nothing! I was sent here for the same reason as Clef!” Shaw said.
“Wait wait wait, who are you?” Uzi said.
“Ya I’m confused.” N replied.
“I’ve lost the capacity to be confused.” V said.
“Same here.” Red said.
“Oh! I haven’t introduced myself! Sorry. I’m Dr Elias Shaw! At least that’s what my new name is! We don’t talk about my old name….” Shaw said.
“What was your old name?” Uzi asked.
“Dr Bri-“ Clef started before Shaw shushed him.
“Nope! I do not want to even mention that name!” Shaw said.
“Anyway…. All you need to know is that I’m immortal with this amulet, bla bla bla. Let’s get to working now!” Shaw said as Clef smirked.
“Wait what.” Uzi said.
“Best not to question it.” Aron replied. “That’s the best way to deal with Shaw.”

2023.05.28 20:00 tsteinholz Trident 660 - Rattle Machine
| Has anyone else been having issues with excessive rattling with their Trident 660? I bought this 2022 Trident 660 back in October 2022 and put about 12k miles on it during that time. Every 3-4 thousand miles, my bike starts to rattle excessively. I brought in into the dealer where they made a warranty claim to replace the gasket (which took a couple of month to complete). I brought my bike into my 10k miles service early due to the excessive rattling coming back. After completion of the service they said my oil was very dark and very low. About 3-4k miles after getting my bike serviced, the rattles are back again. This time I did see residue leaking out the left seal of the engine and was unable to measure any oil when checking it. I have topped off the oil twice now and the levels seem to be reading some lightish brown oil there - but it’s still rattling as shown in this video (granted not as bad as before). Any ideas what’s going on - is anyone else having these issues with this bike? I do ride the bike a lot, but it’s falling very short of the advertised 10k mile service intervals…. submitted by tsteinholz to Triumph [link] [comments] |

2023.05.28 17:34 Gargus-SCP Related Works - Wesley Dodds as The Sandman (Jan-Jul 1941): Troubled Sleep
After a 1940 defined by gathering strengths and refinement across the feature, the early months of 1941 bring a few troubling portents behind-the-scenes for Fox's affectionately termed Grainy Gladiator. Nothing ruinous in itself, but signs of an upcoming radical shift away from what the character represented to start.
For one, the April issue of Adventure Comics (#61) brings with it a new cover feature, Ted Knight AKA Starman, courtesy writer-artist Jack Burnley. Already the second lengthiest entry in the book at nine pages, Starman quickly managed what neither Sandman nor Hourman could during their respective years as star attractions and upgraded to a full thirteen pages by his third appearance in #63. For context, Sandman only went from six pages to ten with its upgrade, while Hourman has remained rockstaedy at eight pages, and neither took down another non-superhero supporting feature to justify the page increase like Starman did Barry O'Neil and Mark Lansing. Moreover, from Starman's second appearance on, he is only drawn by Burnley; writing duties now belong to the Sandman's own Gardner Fox.
Which loops in with two other issues at play over Wesley's tossing, turning figure. Starting with issue #61, available online sources no longer fully agree who wrote what for the Sandman feature. You must understand, outside superstar figures with major pull like the creators of Superman or Batman, very few creative teams are properly credited in these Golden Age comics - my credits the last few posts have all been crossreferenced across numerous wikis and databases who owe their credits to investigative work by fans like Jerry Bails back in the 1960s. Such work was sadly not exhaustive, and while a few places (like DC Continuity Project and Wikipedia) state or else imply Fox stayed on as writer for the next few issues, from June to November there is no consensus as to who penned the stories.
I shouldn't be surprised if Fox's involvement terminated with the March issue, for April also saw All-Star Comics shift its format slightly, with Fox writing all nine interior stories for the 64 page mag in addition to his duties on the longer Starman feature. Man would have to work double time to keep pace, even if Sandman didn't drop to eight pages with #62 in May. Either way, Fox is certainly gone following #64 in July, as that issue features the final story drawn by regular artist and co-creator Creig Flessel, who departs to work on Shining Knight later in the year. As I say, things are changing fast for Sandman, and not all changes seem necessarily for the better. Best, however, to take the stories on their own level before drawing any final conclusions!
Coverage note: This entry goes to July rather than June for the sake of my sanity. If I stopped midway through the year, I'd only need cover seven features here, but the back half of '41 would require coverage of eleven. A nine-nine split feels much more feasible.
Orchids of Doom - Gardner Fox, Creig Flessel, Chad Grothkopf
Once again, a socialite friend to Wes and Dian is at the center of a minor mystery with big implications - namely, how can Pedro Nogades, father to Carla, rightly claim he breeds otherwise purely wild orchids in captivity? Investigating as the Sandman, Wes and Dian find a dead man in the Nogades greenhouse with his head stripped to the bone, and in following another fellow who sniffed an orchid before promising a shipment of such to some ruffians on the bad side of town, see his own face dissolve to bare skull. A visit to the police chemist reveals the orchids on the dead men's persons were laced to release a deadly flesh-eating gas on exposure to natural air, which is enough probably cause for Wesley to enlist Carla's boyfriend Bill in staging a raid on the Nogades manor. Some close shaves and fisticuffs end with the group discovering a diorama of the local coast, laid out to assist enemy agents in an invasion. Pedro is put away and the orchids revealed as concealing microfilm copies of the coastal plans, but how do we square the mystery that started it all? Simple: Nogades was no botanist, and called the flower by the wrong name when concocting his cover story!
An alright yarn to kick of the calendar year. As per usual when Fox tries for a somewhat complicated mystery, he's no adequate means of tying off loose ends other than large blocks of text, but it's lively and keeps the situation evolving with decent justifications for mid-story action and dragging Bill along for further fisticuffs. Hooking the entire mystery on, "Oh, the bad guy misspoke," is a tad lame, if understandable in the context of Fox's passion for slipping general knowledge flexes into his stories. Flessel and Grothkopf get some good mileage out've the skull imagery that crops up whenever the flower kills, and I rather like the brief bout of fisticuffs towards the end. The minor social awkwardness when Bill gets in the car with Wes and Dian is pretty good too, and I'm sorry to report I can't add this story to the "Wesley getting shot" count, as the bad guy only plugs his hat. Kinda funny having a Golden Age Sandman story involving orchids given Neil's own pre-Sandman work with Black Orchid, innit?
The Story of the Flaming Ruby - Fox, Flessel, Grothkopf
There exists a ruby of blazing red, which has driven men to rage and madness wherever it appears, and today it sits in the hand of a young man in the local jeweler's shop, who flashes it cross Dian's vision. Later in the evening, she wakes in a trance consumed with the urge to kill her father, stopped only by Sandman as he rushes in from investigating a similarly queer case. A bank teller friend from his private life has found himself driven to steal from the vault and deliver it to some crooks on a lonely road every night, all after one of those men flashed him the ruby. Wes and Dian are unable to stop this night's transaction (on account of the ruby briefly turning Dian against Sandman), but seeing the gem in action gives Wes an idea on how to counteract its effects, and go into battle during the next drop armed with blue cobalt glasses. A brawl puts down all the blackmailers except one, but Wes opts instead to go after the head of the operation, knocking him out and lurking in the dark to catch the last as he reports in, revealing the bank teller! Turns out the ruby DOES have hypnotic properties and was used to assist their robberies, but the teller - hoping by playing at the victim to lure Sandman into his cohorts' midst and rub him out - spoke as if he remembered the whole experience, where Dian forgot herself on every exposure. Oops!
Same basic mystery structure and resolution type here as last month, complete with overly-wordy explanation, although I find the hook of pitting Dian and Wesley against one another gives it a minor leg up, as does the relatively straightforward nature of the criminal operation compared to planting microfilm in deadly flowers. There's a more even balance between the rush in bust 'em up style of crime-fighting the feature has developed and the stealthy skullduggery I think suits the character best, with nice action art to match each. Dian has some silly faces whenever she wakes from her hypnosis, and the four panel sequence of Wes halting her murder attempt works pretty well. This is, unfortunately, the final pencil-inking collaboration between Flessel and Grothkopf, and much as I've kvetched over the second man's solo work, I'm sorry to see the back of him in this capacity. When the two were in proper tune, they were the best artistic team Sandman enjoyed yet.
(Stop dodging bullets, I want to see you gunshot.)
Mystery at Malay Mac's - Fox, Grothkopf
Hey, a rare post-Hourman, pre-redesign cover appearance! That's always nice. "Hello, officer? Yeah, coupla chucklefucks right here, the alley off Fourth, can't miss 'em."
What's this? Dian breaking into a notorious criminal slumlord's safe in the bad part of town? A safe, as Wes discovers after he scares the lady off, filled to the brim with poison gas! Evidently not, as Dian is sound asleep when Wes arrives at Belmont manor to investigate, and a subsequent visit to Mister Mac reveals the only person who'd know the safe was booby-trapped is a local kidnapping organizer. Some blind, flailing fists turns up the girl, Dian's perfect duplicate, snatched from out of state to replace Dian and gain leverage over the cops. Too bad the kidnapper's made of strong stuff, knocking out Sandman and taking both woman for a ride to get back at Mac. Fortunately, Dian leaves Wes a trail of jewelry out the window, enabling him to follow and take down all the crooks with one throw of his gas pistol, revealing in the process 'twas Mac himself who tipped Dian's duplicate to his safe, in hopes of spoiling his rival's big plot.
Art-wise, this is probably Grothkopf's best work for Sandman to date. His tendency to exaggerate is translated into some properly goonish faces for the villains and really, really strong action poses, with some properly atmospheric shots sprinkled in for good measure. He cannot draw the gasmask for piss, but there's such an improvement I almost thought this was a Flessel joint before checking the wiki credits. Makes me wish we could see what he'd do if he kept on as a solo artist - free from the impulse to treat the feature as a cartoon, he produces damn fine work. As a story, this makes good time to mention my misgivings with Wesley's tendency to burst through windows and start swinging long before he thinks to use his sleeping gas. While it's great fun to describe and hype up as the mark of a madman who's even cooler as the badass normal than Batman, it also encourages a faster degradation in the character's identity. I'm sure you'll notice it's been yonks since lurking in the shadows and thinning the ranks by knocking them out in advance has factored into the stories. That Wes handles the bad guy by literally clonking him over the head with the gas gun rather than pulling the trigger speaks to the influence other, punchier superhero features have exerted over the strip.
The Menace of the Metal Gun - Fox?, Flessel
From aboard a mysterious aircraft, a madman fires upon the city with a metal-melting ray that dissolves the skyscrapers into slag! Alerted to Doctor Borloff's activities, Wesley meets with swift defeat when the rogue scientist melts his gas gun and escapes in his cylindercraft to terrorize afresh. There IS a bright side, as seeing the ray firsthand gives Wesley some idea how to counteract its effects, and he sends Dian and her father warning for the local airforce to coat their planes in sand as a silicate buffer against the ray. Alas, only one officer heeds his message, leaving Sandman alone to get aboard the machine via his new wirepoon gun and defeat Borloff from within. For his brawling process, a good midflight fight is nothing if the hero gets tossed out an open door, but fortunately he can grapple onto the lone surviving plane, recover his bearings, zip back up, and put a stop to Borloff's dreams of world conquest once and for all!
Action is the name of the game here, and even without Grothkopf's inking enhancements, I think Flessel does a fine job on his own. I'm wary of the wirepoon in the future, as by year's end it will completely replace the gas gun as Sandman's sidearm of choice in further drift from the original Christman concept, but taken as a neutral in its debut, giving Sandman greater aerial mobility does lead to some cool shots and enhance the sense Wes goes stark bananas in the mask by pulling some stunts that would almost certainly pull his arms from their sockets in real life. There are, however, some particularly stiff action shots, and in one panel Flessel cocks up the design on the mask worse than Grothkopf last ish. Based on the opening vignette, Borloff decimated millions of innocent lives in addition to all the planes he melted out of the sky, making him easily the deadliest foe Wes has faced to date, and in turn making the "We did it, gang, everything is bright and peachy again!" ending sorta offputting. They'll have to organize mass funerals tomorrow, Wes. Show a little respect.
For America and Democracy: The Grey Shirts - Fox, Grothkopf
In the top-level story, the JSA learn of their mission for the FBI: a group of Nazi insurgents known as the Grey Shirts are plotting subversive and destructive activities all across America, and are now posed to badly destabilize the nation in a series of disruptive attacks. Each is assigned a mission at critical points cross the nation, though given the widely-ranging disparity in their powers, their usefulness to the cause varies equally wildly. The Atom humiliates some goons spreading Nazi ideology at a single college, Hawkman barely prevents the destruction of an aviation plant in California, and Hourman's defense of an Oklahoma oil field ends with him toppling one of the oil towers to stop his quarry. Meanwhile, Green Lantern detonates a zeppelin secretly jamming radio transmissions nationwide, the Spectre casually annihilates some otherworldly vampiric globes sympathetic to Hitler's cause, and Doctor Fate uses his magic to out every single spy on the eastern seaboard. Uneven efforts or not, the group converge on the Grey Shirts' ringleader, and with a little help from Johnny Thunder, turn him over to good ol' J. Edgar Hoover's custody. Alas, Wesley does not get the blood he's thirsting after.
(Also Doctor Fate alerts Wesley to the identity and location of the ringleader before his mission starts rather than letting him figure it out on his own like everyone else. Prick.)
For his six-page leg of the assignment, the Sandman is off to El Paso, Texas to assist a local newspaper under threat from the Grey Shirts for printing pro-democracy and anti-Hitler editorials. Of course, this being Wesley Dodds on the job, he gets this information by roughing his way into the newspaper offices, then acts on it by beating on the guard at the Grey Shirts' camp and pounding down a band of brainwashed young men to prove he's a better American than them. After sending the wannabe Nazis for a whirl by running their bomb shipment off the road, Wesley doubles back to completely break the recruits' spirits, daring them to prove their hard enough by shooting an unarmed man in Hitler's name, chiefly himself. When none can cut the mustard, he marches them back into town with collars strapped to his car, and inspires the lot to join the Army to a few shirtless bars of "God Bless America."
Cripes but jingoism produces some heady results, doesn't it? I'm not sure I can rightly condone the ridiculous levels of patriotism on display here, even against such classically anti-American enemies as Nazis, yet at the same time, look at this and tell me it isn't the hardest shit you'll see all week. Again, though I've my misgivings about Wes as a brawler no matter how entertaining the results prove, there's something endearing about him being so raring for a fight his first move is to altercate the receptionist at the place he's assigned to defend. On the whole, Grothkopf's final Sandman contribution also shows refinement from his earlier works, the broader, thicker elements of his linework now tempers on a somewhat more grounded approach. Certainly the Sandman himself keeps a consistent look better than he does in any other issue published thus far this year. I DO notice he reused Flessel's design for the District Attorney wholesale on the newspaper publisher. Since he's going and heading out on a job well done, let's not hold it against him, eh?
The Purple Death Ray - Fox?, Flessel
At the nightly planetarium show, a member of the audience screams and falls down dead, stricken by a litany of strange symptoms with no obvious cause. Wesley, believing the man was killed by a death ray, examines the auditorium's projector, only to find no obvious alterations or fault. Undeterred, he purchases himself a seat next to the murdered man's for the next show, which is now occupied by another fellow who received a last-second courtesy invitation. Acting quickly, the Sandman reexamines the projector from the shadows and finds a replacement bulb screwed into the socket pointed directly at the man's chair. With assistance from his wirepoon, Sandman swings down and wrenches the man from his seat just as the show starts, the bulb bathing his seat in deadly radiation. On learning the man is a former judge and the deceased a former DA, it's not long before Wes ferrets out the killer; it's the cashier, a former scientist sent to jail for misappropriating university funds years ago, out for revenge and now stopped cold.
See, while I'm skeptical about the growing presence of science-fiction elements in the series, they make fine fodder when they play to Sandman's strengths. Lurking high above a crowd of people seeking the answer to some deadly mystery is exactly Wes' bag, and plus or minus some strange mask drawings, Flessel captures that thrill of closely examining a big deadly machine in secret before it fires. I'd submit the page where Sandman saves the judge from the beam as an easy contender for best of the year thus far, and the shot where Wes pushes Dian away from the killer's bullet is another fine piece of work. My memories of this one before sitting down to reread and write were a lot chillier, probably because I wish the series remained in crime pulp rather than raygun pulp, but a good outcome is a good outcome. Seriously, though, why is the mask going so bobble-eyed of late?
The Voodoo Sorcerer - ???, Flessel
As Dian and Wesley tiff over his interest in an exotic dancer they know through a mutual friend, the woman's tail-lashing dance is interrupted when she sees a great glowing triangle materialize before her eyes. With the shock straining her bad heart, the Sandman brings her to boyfriend's house, where he reveals the triangle is a voodoo witch doctor's means of accusing someone of murder - just as news comes over the wire that the man the woman lashed with her costume tail has died! Smelling a rat, Wes rushes to the scene of the crime to find the taile barbed with poison quills, only for the titular sorcerer to bumrush him out the window. It's a big misunderstanding, thankfully: he's as shocked by the murder as Sandman, and only summoned the triangle on suggestion from an acquaintance, forgetting the dancer would know its significance through her partner. By happiest coincidence, this provides Wesley the solution to the mystery right quick, for only his friend's chauffeur would have motive, opportunity, and knowledge to frame his employers and their associates for the murder of a stock broker who owed them money.
Hmm, ah, see, on the one hand, it IS nice that the voodoo guy is innocent of everything except a lapse in judgement and the real twist is an unassuming little man exploiting the mystery and fears around the craft to cast suspicion off his person. On the other hand, eek, yike, zoinks! None good. Bad, even. Outside unfortunate depictions of non-white persons from the 1940s, the story's pretty weak for a murder mystery, as numerous elements are evidently known to the characters well in advance, yet only made clear to the reader right before they become relevant, like the exact identity of the murdered man. It's only eight pages, so there's little opportunity to piece information together on your own time, and as such it is heavily reliant on narrative cheats to generate cheap surprise. About the best thing here is the big page-dominating panel of Wesley swinging through the city on his wirepoon, unconscious woman tucked under arm. Kinda hard to convincingly raise my dander about what it means for the character and his feature when it's successfully operating on the long-standing principle of "masked mystery men swinging on a wire through skyscrapers looks really cool." S'like a solid fifth of the formula behind why Spider-Man is so enduringly popular.
(Also not a big fan of how Wes dismisses Dian from participating in the case without any adequate reason why. She calls him out over it, even, and nothing in the story justifies his decision to fly solo on this one.)
The Unseen Man - ???, Flessel
Dian's purchase of paints from a local hobby shop includes quite the unusual accidental item: a paint that turns anything and everything invisible on contact. Determined to solve this mystery on her own, Dian investigates the shop with the dealer's cooperation, only for the dread Unseen Man to get the drop on her. Fortunately, Sandman is there to save her because he won't let Dian do anything on her own; unfortunately, Dian doesn't know Wes can see her attacker through his blue cobalt lenses and pulls him away, thinking him mad and letting the Unseen Man go free. As reward for her screw up, she's targeted in her home the next night, only for Wes to barge in again, having anticipated the only possible secret identity for the crook would make him likely to strike back at Dian. It is, unsurprisingly, the hobby shop owner, who Wes turns over to the police before heading out to patent his invisibility paint with the United States Army.
Alright, it's definitely not Gardner Fox writing anymore, because I cannot imagine Fox treating Dian so poorly. I gave her some dignity in summary, but this story is plain dumping all over her as a fussy, incompetent tryhard who fails at investigating on her own on account her womanly ways. Just look at the sheer antagonism between her and Wes; you two are partners, she's saved Sandman's skin like a dozen times, worn his costume and wielded his gas gun to do it once, even! Don't try to BS me into thinking Wes would run this paternalist "let me handle it, Dian, I wear the pants in this relationship" crap on her. You're only alive because she's worn your fucking pants. Otherwise, 'nother instance where the story and art alike don't give me much of note. I reckon Flessel was about done with the series with Fox gone and sorta phoned in his last few assignments. They're nowhere near the standard of his early solo artistic duties on the title. There IS another good wirepoon swinging shot, if one counterbalanced by a crummier instance with yet another weirdly-proportioned mask.
The Mysterious Mr. X: The Kidnapper's Union - Fox, Cliff Young
The Justice Society are bored. Bored, bored, bored. Why are they bored? There is no crime. Not a single ruffian or scoundrel or roughneck lawbreaker anywhere in the city! Where did crime go? Crime has taken an enforced vacation, courtesy the plans of big crime boss Mister X (hats off), as prelude to his scheme for taking out the JSA and putting all his criminal enterprises back on easy street. It's quite the collection of rackets out against the superheroes - an arsonist ring for Flash, a jewel snatching gang for Hawkman, leader of the phony fortune teller underworld against Doctor Fate, even hard-pressing gym membership shakedowns for the Atom! Naturally our heroes triumph, though every one also encounters a strange little man idly strolling through their battlegrounds. He's so omnipresent despite his mousiness, he's even there when they convene at the police station to organize Mister X's (hats off) arrest. Except this unassuming slip of a man? He IS Mister X (hats off), and with the Justice Society having taken all the fun out've crime, he's turning himself in to live comfortably on the state's dollar in jail. WHOOPSY-DOODLE!
For his six-page part in the game, Sandman must contend against the kidnapper's union, who naturally enough have abducted Dian to get his attention. Not only have these lowlives taken Dian hostage (though she doesn't particularly mind), they've taken out phony accident insurance claims against themselves should the hero injure any of them en route to his untimely death! Nobody quite expects Wes to avoid the sniper-guarded roads to their remote hilltop hideout, though, and a quick wirepoon swing over the canyon (complete with Mister X - hats off - sighting) puts him right in the criminal den. From there, it's a simple biff wham boom to take down the punks and disarm their supporting fire. Alas, Sandman is once again only in the loop on the true nature of the threat against the JSA because someone notifies him from their own investigation, this time Flash via telegram. Let him do his own detective work, you pricks!
Right. You see these panels? You see Dian being calm and collected in the midst of a kidnapping operation? You see Wes trusting her with a submachine gun to keep watch on the fools who mean them harm? Yeah, THAT'S Fox writing Dian. Whoever's writing the Adventure feature at this time ought've taken notes. Artistically, Young makes a fine replacement for Grothkopf and Flessel in Adventure - he can match the first for goons, the second for action, manages a nice turnaround effect before Wes swings on his wirepoon, and even gives us a by-now all-too-rare heavy shadow shot on Wes and Dian. I'm a big fan of the lead kidnapper who calls the JSA the "Justiss Sassiety," and find this instance of Mister X (hats off) the second best in the book, behind only his appearance in the Hourman story, which I think speaks for itself. Probably the only time I'll express preference for something Hourman related over Sandman.
The loss of all three major contributors to the Sandman feature across early 1941 and the crunch down to eight pages has certainly made the Adventure Comics side of the Sandman line a rockier experience. It's still possible to derive enjoyment from the wonky mysteries and higher-concept criminals, but one must accept atmosphere and and particularity have been near-entirely sacrificed for generalized bombast and louder appeal. Don't misunderstand, I've become a fan of Wesley Dodds, Fist-Swinging Bullet Sponge, and my past praises for him aren't diminished by the realization of what this has done to his integrity as a character circa today's stopping point. The trouble is, while I enjoy this half-mad, impossibly reckless read on the character, it simply no longer bears any resemblance to the early days' lurking and creeping through the seedier parts of town. There's a great series of justifications running through the Sandman concept - he's no powers, so he uses the gas gun, so he needs the gas mask, which hides his identity so perfectly it frees him to wear the ordinary business suit, which highlights his vulnerability. Fling him around like a ragdoll who knows no fear of injury or death, although I'll clap for the bravado of it all, I must object if it means any notion he should be sneaky or cautious degrades.
Especially if it means the gas gun vanishes from the character. It hasn't met its final end just yet, but for this seven month block it's proven a very perfunctory aspect of the strip, hung by his side and occasionally brandished without acting as an integral part of the action or storytelling. The wirepoon has subsumed its function as the sidearm, and while I must stress there are plenty aces shots of Wes swinging that fully justify its prominence, taking precedence over the thing that makes him the Sandman, Crimefighter What Fights Crime By Putting The Criminals To Sleep plain rubs me the wrong way. Be awful nice i we could have both without the new toy putting the old out to pasture, y'know? It's not led to anything I'd full-throatedly object over just yet, but... ach, you'll see next time. Speaking of...
Next time! 1941 comes to a close as Wesley picks up another feature to his name, and also a stupid, ugly new costume!

2023.05.28 11:18 sonrises2 A fan roster breakdown: Barcelona Dragons.
We are less than a week away from kick off, and I thought to be a good idea that we ,as a fans, could share in this fantastic community our views of the teams we support. Rather than an expert breaking down all ELF rosters for us, we could break down and analyze the team we support for the others in this community to have a different view of ELF teams than those published in the "official/expert" websites.
I will start myself with Barcelona Dragons. Please join me and share in this thread the roster breakdown of the team you support.
BARCELONA DRAGONS
*COACHES
HC: 🇲🇽 Gabriel "Black" Sanchez
OC: 🇲🇽 Miguel Angel "Micky" Romero
DC: 🇲🇽 Gabriel "Black" Sanchez
🇲🇽 Coach Black is promoted to HC/DC from last year's DC duties. He brings along quite a few countrymen to take on key coaching positions this year. The likes of 🇲🇽 Coach Micky Romero to lead the offense, 🇲🇽 Eduardo Yagues to develope the Offensive Line or 🇲🇽 Genaro Alfonsin, former CFL player, as DB coach. Some familiar faces are back for another run too like 🇺🇸 Chase Baker, former NFL player, as a Defensive Line coach or 🇪🇸 Victor Martin to take again on WRs. 🇺🇸 Alexander Durazo signs this year to take the lead of special teams & LBs unit.
Dragons fans are very excited with coach Black promotion to HC position while keeping DC duties. Coach Black made an amazing job last year by unexpectedly building a proficient defensive unit at ELF level. Arguably, one of the best defenses in the league. His comeback has also been cheered by the players themselves who talk wonderful things of his leadership, football knowledge, passion and coaching style. The franchise has heavily invested in the coaching staff this season. Special mention to coach Eduardo Yagues. Over two decades coaching OL players at City College of San Francisco, brings over his knowledge to make the OL to grow and perform at its best. It is well known that Spanish football is not overloaded with homegrown talent and the departures of key Spanish players to other ELF teams added salt to the injury. Therefore, it was time for an audacious approach: Develope better and faster the rich young but somehow raw talent available in the country. Conclusion is that some of the biggest Dragons signings this Offseason are not in the field but by the sidelines. Be ready, dear readers, for a "spicy" Mexican branch of American Football.
*IMPORTS
🇺🇸 Imports: QB-WR-DL-S
🇪🇺 Imports: OL-OL-WR-WR-DL-S
*OFFENSE
Quarterback: Big change of style in this position. Dragons move from the athletic and open play specialist in Zach Edwards to a more classic pocket QB in 🇺🇸 Connor Miller. It is well known the capacity of Zach in extending broken plays and run for his life when necessary. Instead, Connor will most likely provide a different approach to the offense, exploiting multiple reads within the security of the pocket. Unlike Zach, Connor has proved in his successful career in Europe to be a vocal leader that has the ability to gather individuals towards a common objective. Dragons fans are willing and excited to embrace this shift of paradigm in the most important position in football, QB.
Wide Receivers: This unit has been almost entirely revamped. Only young local star and fan favorite 🇪🇸 Jordi Torrededia comes back to the team to continue his solid progression in his 3rd season in the league. Kyle Sweet is a sensible lost for Dragons. To fill this shoes comes 🇺🇸 Josh Johnston right off from Denver Broncos mini-camp. Johnston finished his college career this last season with Colorado School of Mines (NCAA D-2) where he posted top stats and earned multiple awards. 🇸🇪 Theodor Landstrom and 🇫🇷 Melvin Palin complete the poker of aces to follow in this unit. Palin has a long experience playing college football in Canada. Last year he moved to GFL to play with Dusseldorf Panthers. Landstrom comes from Telfs Patriots (AFL) where he posted 55 rec for 888 yds and 9 TD in 12 games.
Tight Ends: Big hopes and excitement around newly signed 🇪🇸 Raul Cernuda from Badalona Dracs (LNFA). A top Spanish player who finally makes the move and joins Dragons to showcase his skills at ELF level. Very good hands adds to his big size and body frame. Disciplined and good blocker, stands out for his goods hands to catch any pass coming his way. On the cons...lacks speed. Youngster 🇪🇸 Elias Rodriguez moves from 3rd string RB to TE in his 3rd season with the team.
Running Backs: 3rd year veteran 🇪🇸 Toni Monton returns to the team. Elusive once he gets his wheels spinning, brings good hands to the mix too. New signing 🇪🇸 Eduard Molina will be Toni's partner in crime in this unit. Eduard comes from having a monster season with Badalona Dracs (LNFA) this last year. Very good stats with 1121 run yds and 13 TD in 8 games.
Offensive Line: Most likely the line most affected by departures of homegrowns players this offseason. The losses of last year starters Eduardo Sanchez and Celestin Ngimbi to Musketeers and Gabriel Rodriguez to Guards called for bold action from the franchise. Last year's starters 🇪🇸 Elvys Núñez who most likely will take on C duties and 🇪🇸 Jose Ariza return to the team. Rotation player 🇪🇸 Mikel Gómez will be promoted to the starting unit as per sources. After that, new faces all over. 🇳🇴 Jonas Hagerup has already 2 years experience in the league after stints in Leipzig Kings (2021) and Wroclaw Panthers (2022) and 🇬🇧 Ben Dixon comes from Hamburg Huskies (GFL2). Youngsters 🇪🇸 David Culebras and 🇪🇸 Diego Varela from reigning Spanish Champs Las Rozas Black Demons should add depth to the line. 🇪🇸 Enzo Biasizzo from Dragons Academy (LNFA Jr) could be an unexpected surprise as season moves along. Nonetheless, the biggest signing this Offseason in this unit is coach Yagues. He has been given the mission of crafting the interesting material he has been given into a proficient unit at ELF level.
OFFENSE FINAL COMMENTS: Many new faces in this side of the ball. Only 6 players returning from last year's roster. The capacity of coaches Black, Micky and Yagues to swiftly develope chemistry and glue this unit will determine Dragons fate this season. We can expect Dragons to remain pass focused but we also expect to be far more unpredictable than previous years by moving away from the one-dimensional, Zach to Sweet/Constant, approach of previous coaches. Coaching staff is fully determined to implement a much richer offensive approach and get more players involved in offense. Overall, good vibes coming from training camp...
*DEFENSE
Defensive Line: One of the units where Dragons fans are more eager to see on the field. Although the key losses of homegrowns Alejandro Fernandez to Fire and Yago Rivero to Potsdam Royals (GFL) plus Michael Sam retirement from football, big things are expected from the DL. Key DTs 🇪🇸 Sebastian Bowen and 🇪🇸 Daniel Franco are back for another season. DE/rusher 🇺🇸 Darius Slade has impressed in training camp with his technique, athletics and implication with the team. Experienced 🇸🇪🇺🇸 Benjamin Egbudiwe brings more fire power to the line. Newly signed youngsters 🇪🇸 Mamadou Ka Thiobane from Terrassa Reds (LNFA), 🇪🇸 Diego Paz from Las Rozas Black Demons (LNFA) and 🇪🇸 Leo Rovesti from Alcobendas Cavaliers (LNFA) have already made some eyebrows rise in training camp. Other signings in 🇪🇸 Francisco Olivas from Mallorca Voltors (LNFA) and 🇪🇸 Rodrigo Sanz from Osos Rivas (LNFA) seems to point towards a deep and exciting DL for Dragons this season.
Linebackers: Good news here too. The LBs Corp are back almost in full for another season. 🇪🇸 Cesare Brugnani, 🇪🇸 Alex "Posito", 🇪🇸 Victor Albarracin and 🇪🇸 Sebastian Castañer, not only they proved to fully belong to this league last season but actually shine. To add more gun power, Dragons signs experienced LB 🇪🇸 Manuel Fernandez from Ravensburg Razorbacks (GFL)
Safeties: Another unit ready to brightly shine this season. 🇺🇸 Luke Glenna comes right off the University of St Thomas Minnesota (NCAA D-1) where he earned All American team and All Conference first team honors in 2022. Fan favorite 🇦🇷 Lautaro Frecha comes back for his 3rd season with the team and 🇪🇸 Jorge Félix Velasco is back too to complete the transition to S from LB that coach Black already envisioned last season. 🇪🇸 Hugo Minguez from Las Rozas Black Demons (LNFA) is another addition that might surprise as the season evolves.
Cornerbacks: Good talent in this unit but it might be the thiner unit in defense at this moment. Team captain 🇪🇸 Jordi Brugnani and 🇪🇸 Lucas Masero return to lead this unit for a 3rd season in a row. Experienced DB 🇪🇸 Julio Aguado from Las Rozas Black Demons (LNFA) and young but very promising prospect 🇪🇸🇩🇪 Pascal Sendelbach from Dragons Academy (LNFA Jr) will need to adjust quickly to the league and step up to help consolidate this unit.
DEFENSE FINAL COMMENTS: Defense has been reloaded and ready to go again after an already good performance last year. Defense will need to take the lead early in the season so that the offense earns time to get fully oiled in the first games of the season. Many team veterans are back, key import signings are giving out good vibes in training camp and a loaded promotion of promising young players seems a good receipt for success. And above all, defensive mastermind in coach Black ruling them all.
*SPECIAL TEAMS
Kicker: 🇪🇸 Luis Cereceda. After year and a half under Giorgio Tavecchio wings as a mentor, he is now ready to take charge of this position.
Punter: 🇦🇺 Sam Higgins. Former Australian rules player, took on football by joining Badalona Dracs (LNFA) a couple of years ago. Joins Dragons this season.
Long Snapper: 🇪🇸 Pep Tricas comes back for his 3rd season as long snapper specialist.

2023.05.28 09:12 LonleyWolf420 Suggestions for my next move?
Im going to be moving to florida for my wife soon (her family moved there and my family is barley in our lives)
The plan right now is to go OTR for prime inc. (Also suggestions on this company? They treated my cousin very well for the last 7 years till he came off the road for a killer crude oil job..but i know there on the lower end of pay now adays.. this is because they have nice equipment and will allow my wife, dog, and cat along)
The plan is to go OTR and basically live on the truck for around a year so we can get our debts paid off and buy a nice house (probably in florida for reasons mentioned, she doesnt wanna be stuck in a state away from family while im on the road)
If i can find something florida based her family has offered to us to live in an RV converted bus till we get on our feet.. (OTR, regional, LTL i dont care.. equipment hauling could be fun tho and is an achievement i want (have lifetime of experience helping my dad move equipment for an ex-family construction company/farming company and helped him move rental equipment after he got divorced 1st time i drove truck i was 8 in a 1980somethin 379 with a 13 speed and and a KW T600 with 18spd i caught onto floating right away and its in my blood since..)
Im at a year and 6 months having my CDL with a year and 3 months verifiable experience.. 1st job was local mail movement 5-6 days a week 11-14 hr shifts with them constantly trying to get me to do 18-22 hr shifts trying to pull one over on me because i was a new CDL holder.. they started treating me like shit and jipping my pay because i refused to brake federal driving time laws..and at 3 months exact i move to a regonal startup doing mostly local 6 days a week with a few weekly trips (multiple western states) and eventually they started treating me like shit and blaming me for equipment failures (they refused to fix trucks because they were selling them soon and getting new ones for the startup.. you have all actually seen another driver post a pic of one.. (quad truck, quad axle dryvan)) and im in good leu with that company because they keep calling almost daily trying to get me back.. but ill be in the lowest tier of pay with no option to make what i was at the startup agreement because i left and the startup drivers have a "ghost tier" that no newer drivers can get..
Anyway i appreciate any feedback.. this sub has been my favorite.. im just stuck in a rut not knowing what to do and what route to go.. the next company i go for i want to be a good one because as i said i plan to basically live in the truck with some hometime between utah and florida so we can slowly move what we need to florida..

2023.05.28 06:35 goodsoup-throwaway First day “out”!
Just finished my second year of teaching. It was also my last.
This field has helped me grow in a lot of ways, which I am extremely grateful for. I am a better public speaker, I am more confident in myself, and I am great at juggling 1000 tasks.
But this career was wrong for me. I hate the constant confrontation, I hate dealing with pushy/entitled students, and I hate the emotional toll it has taken on me. Most of all, I hate not having the energy or emotional capacity to connect with my partner at the end of the day because of all the fight or flight and decision fatigue of the day.
Anyways, I am moving to a nearby state for a new job next month. It pays 10k more. My future bosses seem so nice and have already expressed that I should never even THINK about work after I’ve clocked out. Which is so different from the culture here.
I have worked really hard to get this new job (ugh so many interviews lol). I am ready for this big change.
I felt like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders when I walked out of that school for the last time. Today was so nice. I can’t wait to feel like myself again.
Just wanted to share! I would love to hear experiences from other people who are leaving now or left a long time ago! Is it really better on the other side? Do you enjoy your life more?

Obviously, the bigger the outcome, the greater the devices rate. Ultimately, numerous various other elements have to be taken into consideration, such as the power circumstance, the amount of kilowatts the neighborhood transformer can drive; whether the website area is sufficient; the degree of automation and more. Costs range from tens of thousands to thousands of thousands as well as millions. We will certainly discuss the specific price as well as welcome online consultation. The biomass pelletizer operator is very crucial The biomass pellet machine driver is really important to the high quality of pellets processed by biomass gas pellets. For biomass fuel pellet mill, no matter whether the procedure is normal or not, it will straight impact the high quality of the product. The tensile stamina of the powder to be granulated by the symmetrical biomass granulator need to have a proportion of " typically less than 2/3 of the diameter of the ring die hole; wetness. After satiating as well as solidifying, the dampness should be controlled at 10% ~ 18%. The molding price Greater, greater density, filtration. Magnetic splitting up tool is called for prior to granulation, to make sure that the mould will not be harmed as well as unnecessary losses will certainly be prevented. The real facility of the biomass pellet maker device is the wedge factor of the rolling or the feed between the copper and the die. Nearly all various other devices in the granulation process is an auxiliary part of its crucial parts. There are three stress points: https://preview.redd.it/b94sc87a3j2b1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76b4ff0405e150ef4c6a5385d0068ac67c01f944 Rollers that act upon the product extrude the material into the die. The die itself has resistance, preventing fluid from passing through the holes in the die. The pressure exerted by the rollers is incorporated with the frictional stress developed by the formula itself. This pressure causes the material to be pressed and protects against the product from coming out along the impact surface in front of the stick. When we increase the change of the variable speed drive or control and also enhance the feed rate of the biomass pelletizer, the quantity of material rises in the form of an apparent front. Simply put, a high force is needed to push the material into the crushing intrusion factor rather than falling under the pressure. In other words, the quality as well as production degree of pellets is very closely pertaining to the high quality of the drivers of biomass pelletizers. The biomass pellet mill driver must change the moisture material of the powder according to modifications in ambient temperature and also moisture. Variants in pellet dimension, adjustment of formulations and wear of tools, along with unique demands of customers, generate certified granules. To generate top notch products, staff members have to have extra detailed knowledge, abundant experience, strong sense of obligation, and also overcome different difficulties in order to produce better-quality products. To comprehend the acquisition procedure of the maker, the quality is extremely important, as well as the after-sales service is additionally very crucial. Richi Machinery is a manufacturer of various biomass pelletequipment. We give complimentary devices setup, appointing and also technical workers training as well as various other relevant services. Users rate ahead to speak with as well as negotiate. Reasons for biomass fuel pellet equipment pellet fuel home heating :. s is processed by biomass fuel pellets, and the raw products are corn stalk, wheat straw, straw, peanut covering, corn cob, cotton stalk, soybean stalk, chaff, weeds, branches, leaves, sawdust, bark, etc. Solid Waste. ( 1 ) Biomass pellets are renewable resource, sustainable means that they do not deplete natural deposits. The power of biomass pellets originates from sunlight, when trees expand, sunlight shops energy, and when biomass pellets are melted, you are releasing this power. On winter evenings, shedding biomass pellets is like casting a ray of sunshine on a fire place! ( 2 ) Reduce the global pollution When nonrenewable fuel sources are melted, they launch huge quantities of co2, the major greenhouse gas for worldwide warming. Burning fossil fuels, such as coal, oil or natural gas, releases carbon dioxide right into the ambience deep in the Earth in a one-way circulation process. Trees soak up co2 as they expand, and also when biomass pellets shed, carbon dioxide is launched and afterwards waiting to be taken in by thick forests, trees are regularly cycling co2, so melting biomass pellets just maintain you warm, not the international warming impact! The pellet gas of the biomass pelletizer can change firewood, raw coal, gas oil, dissolved gas, etc, and is commonly used in home heating, living stoves, hot water central heating boilers, industrial central heating boilers, biomass power plants, etc. RICHI MACHINERY has actually been established for greater than 25 years, concentrating on biomass pellet mill available for sale, the development and manufacturing of single/complete biomass pellet assembly line such as pet feed, biomass gas, wood waste, lawn, straw, natural plant food, etc, as well as give layout and solutions for EPC/Turnkey biomass pellet mill projects! submitted by Carmen-Huang to pelletmachinery [link] [comments] |
