29 Tips and Tricks for Adventure Mode

2023.06.09 17:17 AnarZaram 29 Tips and Tricks for Adventure Mode

With the news that development of Adventure Mode for the Steam release is progressing along, I figure some people may want to download the original version to give it a try ahead of the graphics update. As someone with hundreds of hours in adventure mode (there are literally dozens of us!) I thought I would share some of the biggest tips and tricks I've learned. I'll probably be making this into a video once the official release is out and I can get footage with graphics, but until then I'm posting the script I have now here. The rest of this post contains spoilers for every phase of adventure mode, so turn back now if you want to discover all of this for yourself!
Beginner
  1. Always have food
-Large stacks of vegetables can be found in containers in human towns. Meat can be gathered from butchered animals. Meat from sentient creatures can’t be eaten.
2. Always have wateale
-Adventurers need to drink 3-4 times a day. Water skin only holds 3 water, so it is useless. Bags hold 40 and Backpacks hold 100 which is too heavy for most adventurers. Quivers hold 20, which is the perfect amount. Fill quivers with water at rivers or wells.
3. Equip armor
-Armor and weapons can be found in the barracks of each town. Try to get iron or steel if possible. Make sure to cover the head, neck, torso, legs, hands, and feet.
4. Get a mount
-Mounts increase overworld speed which increases the amount of ground that can be covered in one day. This reduces how frequently you need to stop for supplies.
5. Get some pets
-Companions can be tricky to recruit in the beginning, but pets are a great way to increase survivability. Unlike companions, you can also recruit a very high number of pets immediately. Everything labeled “stray” found within a town can become a pet, from ducks to dogs, and rarely even bears and elephants. Just don’t get too attached, most pets die very fast, or permanently run away after combat. Especially the small ones.
6. Make sure your character can read and swim
-Most skills can be acquired organically by actions which your adventurer does, but certain skills like reading are never unlocked. Because you need to read slabs or books to learn magic, putting a point in reading at character creation is mandatory. A few points in swimming are also recommended. Even a single tile full of water is enough to drown an adventurer with no swimming skill.
7. Make a young world for less necromancers and more Megabeasts, and an old world for vice-versa
-World parameters matter. Evil is slightly stronger on average, which means the older a world is, the more likely it is to be infested with Necromancer towers and Goblin Pits. Savagery is just the number of animal people to play as, and beasts is the number of beasts to fight. You want both of these as high as possible, the difficulty is actually easier with more beasts, as you won’t have to travel as far for missions.
8. Don’t be afraid to run if you can’t win
-Although this is technically a turn based RPG, running away isn’t a button you press, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t an option. If you are heavily outnumbered or facing a very strong enemy, don’t be afraid to sprint away and reengage when it is more advantageous to do so. This is better than dying and losing your progress.
9. Don’t swim until you’ve really trained
-While it may be tempting to take a quick dip in the river, death can be moments away in any body of water. Even at competent and above levels of swimming, your character can only go about 10-20 squares before getting tired, and swimming while tired has a chance to keep your character in the same tile, further increasing their fatigue. This can mean your character drowning even just one square from the shore if you are extremely unlucky.
10. Aim for the neck/head for instant kills
-Aiming in combat can be extremely beneficial. Lots of minor enemies such as kobolds and bandits can be killed with one solid hit to the neck or head. Using this tactic can make encounters against large groups of enemies much easier.
Intermediate
11. Fast travel to long rest
-If you are damaged in battle and bleeding out, even if you are faint with mortal wounds, fast traveling via the world map will instantly heal your wounds. This may be considered a bug, but since adventurers cannot currently be healed at hospitals via adventure mode, this is the only way to actually heal. Furthermore, since you can’t fast travel during combat, and because fast traveling doesn’t remove major injuries such as missing limbs, I’d say it’s a pretty balanced feature.
12. Jog whenever possible
-Whenever not mounted and not in combat, you should set your speed to jog. This will increase your endurance stat naturally over time, increasing your combat prowess while you move around. Just be sure to reset your speed whenever your character drops to the ground from exhaustion to give them a chance to rest. Keep extra water on hand while doing this, as your character will need to drink more. And make sure not to jog into combat, this will increase your character’s chance of becoming exhausted during combat, which severely lowers stats.
13. Create a character that just wants to perform
-A focused character will always be more proficient in combat, receiving a boost to stats such as accuracy and damage. Fully customizing needs in character creation can make a character that is very easy to keep focused. You can completely remove needs in character creation if you wish, but this will also remove the chance to receive the focused buff. If anything, just be sure to avoid needs that are currently impossible in adventure mode such as “Make romance.”
14. Create a world with legendary metals for better loot
-The more metals you choose at world generation, the better the loot will be everywhere. This setting can make gearing up in the early game either extremely trivial, or extremely challenging. World age can also affect possible loot, as extremely young worlds will not have created enough armor to make most encounters have meaningful loot.
15. Tell stories of your notable kills
-Information in dwarf fortress is passed via a rumor system. No matter how many dragons you may slay, when you enter a new town, no one will care because they don’t know who you are. Every time you reach a new town, you should tell the largest group of people you can the stories of every notable encounter you’ve had. Early on you should tell stories of killing bandits, while later on you should focus on just semi-Megabeasts and Megabeasts.
16. Recruit other party members
-While animal companions are good choices for meat shields early game, you should recruit as many fighters at barracks to adventure with you as possible. The amount of companions you can have at any one time is limited by your current reputation level, which is why it is important to tell everyone you can of your notable kills. Animal companions take up companion slots even though they go over the max cap, so try to transition from lots of animals early on to a small party of adventuring companions in the midgame, and a large number of companions in the endgame. Just be sure to let your companions win some easy battles on their own to level up their skills, otherwise they will die just as easily as animals in fights against Megabeasts. Don’t be surprised if some of your companions get terrified in combat and run away just like animals. If you can, be sure to find them, as they will take up a companion slot if you don’t part ways with them or watch them die. If they die and you don’t see it, they may permanently take up a slot this way. This is a bug and will hopefully be fixed eventually, but be wary of it for now.
17. Become a hearthperson
-Starting a new character and trying to find quests can be very challenging. Lots of random characters will have various rumors, but won’t know enough details to send you on a proper quest. Lords and ladies however can make you into a hearthperson, and can then give you proper quests. They will only do this if you have enough reputation level though, which is why telling stories is important. Usually it takes a story of a bandit leader kill or higher to get a lord or lady to recruit you. You can bypass this stage and get to quests right away by choosing to start as a hearthperson. Just beware that quests are randomized, and sometimes your first quest will be to kill a megabeast. When this happens, I recommend traveling to another town and becoming hearthperson there.
18. Train your skills early
-Training skills via active combat can be very deadly. If possible, try to fight large, easy enemies to train all related combat skills as early as possible. If you find a horse for example, you can attack its legs to immobilize it, then spam nonlethal strikes to train your weapon skill. A couple horses with no legs is a brutal but safe way to train up weapons all the way to legendary.
19. Set combat preferences to facilitate training
-Skills like observation and stats like endurance are very important for late game combat. These skills in particular can be trained incredibly fast with combat preferences. If you set melee combat preferences to close quarters, this will prefer to grapple the enemy over and over again. This means you can move into the enemy repeatedly to quickly train without navigating menus. Doing this without changing preferences can mean your character automatically makes a headshot and kills the enemy before you get the chance to properly level up stats. Just be sure to move away from your legless horses if you get tired, as the lowered stats means that even low risk combat can result in injury.
20. Sneak up to enemies for stealth kills
-If you want to dispatch of large camps quickly and efficiently, chaining stealth kills can be an easy way to do this. Just press S to toggle sneaking, then try to approach enemies without walking into their cone of vision. Doing this at night can be especially effective, as enemies have greatly reduced perception.
Advanced
21. Get a slashing, piercing, and blunt weapon
-Some enemies in dwarf fortress are much easier to kill than others. Kobolds and crundles will crumple against most weapons, while things like bronze collosi are much harder to deal with. A good rule of thumb is to keep a slashing, piercing, and blunt weapon on hands at all times. Use slashing against basic targets and undead for quick decapitations, piercing against large organic creatures like giant cheetahs or rocs so that they give into pain (essentially stunlocking them), and blunt against inorganic enemies to crush them (collosi, armored titans, iron men, etc). When in doubt, keep a whip on hand to one shot most enemies. A legendary lasher with a named masterwork whip can easily one shot most things in the game with a heavy attack to the head. This should be considered a bug that will probably be fixed later, but is very fun if you want to RP as a legendary vampire killer. Regardless of weapon choice, weapon skill is equally important. A novice hammer dwarf with a steel war hammer is just as useless against a bronze colossus as a legendary axedwarf with an artifact copper battle axe.
22. Remove your backpack when starting combat
-Fighting while overencumbered is a death sentence. While fighting above default speed does not reduce the number of frames it takes to swing your weapon, fighting below default speed will add a delay after each swing before you can act again, giving enemies free strikes against you. This is also why fighting prone is ill-advised. However, this mechanic should not dissuade you from overencumbering yourself. Most mounts negate a large (if not all) amount of encumberance. In addition, your character can move anything they can grab, even if it is the entire corpse of a megabeast which weighs multiple tons, it will just take them more frames to haul these items. So long as you store all of your loot in the same backpack, you are always safe from ambushes no matter your encumbrance, as you can remove and drop your backpack as soon as combat starts, which usually takes less frames than it takes for any enemy to move. After combat, your backpack should be where you left it, and you can easily retrieve your haul.
23. Aim for the legs first, then the hands, then the neck
Aiming for the neck can make weaker enemies trivial, but more proficient enemies will not allow this tactic, and very large enemies will have necks too large to decapitate. An advanced tactic that works against most strong enemies is to aim for the legs first to knock your enemy prone (or wings against flying enemies). Once your enemy is on the ground, their speed is halved, essentially giving you twice as many turns to attack. It is at this point you should aim for their arms, as these hold weapons for humanoids and usually have claws for beasts. Once the legs are taken out and the usage of weapons is disabled, you are much more likely to land a headshot, and in a much safer position to repeatedly spam this attack.
24. Bleed out megabeasts, cut off hydra heads, pummel collosi
Certain enemies such as Megabeasts are much harder to kill. These should be considered boss fights, and thus have certain kill parameters. Bronze collosi in particular usually need to have every single body part destroyed in order to be killed. Hydras in turn need to have the brain of each head destroyed to die, and will almost always live if one head is alive. Hill titans can vary from nigh unkillable (humanoids made of steel) to killable via literally any damaging attack (blobs made of water), so reading their description is extremely important in dealing with them.
25. Never get hit (level dodge and block)
-Because major injuries are unhealable, these accumulate over time. This means that the best way to play adventure mode is to never get hit. This may seem like a tall task, but almost all damage is avoidable via dodge and block. If you have a high observation stat, you will be able to dodge or block attacks. While this may automatically succeed against weaker enemies, it has a chance to fail against stronger enemies if not properly leveled, so be sure to train these skills early on. Fighting when focused and not exhausted should ensure that these avoidance abilities work properly. Just don’t try to block an attack you wouldn’t block in real life.
26. Don’t let enemies get a surround
-Fighting against multiple enemies can be a likely death scenario. If enemies completely surround you, then your character has a greatly reduced chance of automatically dodging or blocking attacks. In addition, moving through an occupied tile in dwarf fortress will roll a die, and the losers will be forced prone, as only one creature can stand in a tile at once. Make sure to set speed to scramble in combat if this happens, get to an unoccupied square, and stand up as quickly as possible. Dodging into an open space in this scenario is a much better option than moving manually if at all possible. This entire scenario can be avoided if you slowly dodge in the same direction as enemies approach you in combat, ensuring that you only fight one at a time, and force the others to tire themselves as they run after you. Striking the legs of as many targets as possible is effective here, as it drastically increases the time it takes for each enemy to reach you.
27. Throw stones to level archery
-Archery can be very cumbersome to use, as most bolts are too heavy to use without causing constant encumbrance, and training it is very slow and painful, as arrows usually split into stacks of one when fired. However, there is a way to level archery extremely quickly. By throwing something at the same tile you are on, you level your archery skill. You can then pick up the thrown object and throw it again. This is much faster than using arrows. One of the best objects to do this with is coins. As it turns out, coins are actually the best ranged weapon. Coins can be used in combat to great affect. Because dwarf fortress uses the archery stat when throwing items, it calculates the damage of thrown items as if shot from a bow with the same archery proficiency. While this does not do nearly as much damage as bolts themselves, it effectively gives adventurers a way to reliably use ranged weapons without worrying about retrieving ammo, as money can usually be found in multiple stacks of 100 at bandit camps.
28. Use archery against webs/fire
-While archery is a niche weapon type for most scenarios, it is mandatory against certain titans and most dragons, as well as giant cave spiders. Titans, like spiders can possess the ability to web your adventurer. This stunlocks your character, making any shot a guaranteed hit. Against large enough titans, getting hit with a single shot of web is enough for instant death, as they will squish your head while webbed. Other titans may possess deadly dust or poisonous gas. While some of these effects are benign, breathing others can and will kill your character, and to my knowledge not even fast travel stops this. Fighting fire breathing dragons is an instant kill scenario as well, as they can melt your armor into molten liquid metal, stunlocking your character until they die from the heat. You can attempt to repeatedly jump until you reach a river, but you are certainly dead at this point. The use of archery (or rather, throwing coins) is mandatory at this point. While a few shots may not do anything at first, repeated shots will accumulate damage, and eventually kill or disable the enemy. Just be very careful getting into melee range to finish enemies off after this occurs, as one unlucky web or fire shot can and will still kill you. Avoid looting titans with dust or gas effects until after you leave and return to the area with fast travel to be sure that the gas dissipates.
29. Know the game progression (Kobolds, Bandits, Hearthperson, Semi-Megabeasts, Towers, Megabeasts, Dark Fortresses, Caverns)
Knowing what you’re doing at any given point can be the difference between life and death. If you’re playing adventure mode without savescumming (which is the only way to play it in the old versions), then you will be making new characters a lot. Knowing the basic progression of where you should go on new characters will make the ultimate goal of raiding the vault and fighting the angel that much easier. Your basic path should be gearing up in towns, training basic combat skills against animals, fighting kobold and bandit camps to level reputation, telling stories to become a hearthperson, doing quests as a hearthperson to further reputation level and combat skills, fighting semimega and Megabeasts to become a legendary hero, raiding towers to find the secrets, raiding dark fortresses to find the vault and slay the angel, and finally using the secrets to delve into the caverns without having to eat or sleep and fighting forgotten beasts there until your character dies. The surface and visiting towns should be considered the early game, raiding sites should be considered the midgame, killing the angel in the vault should be considered the endgame, and roaming the caverns should be considered the postgame. Of course, adventure mode has lots more to offer than just combat, and if you want to learn its ins and outs for yourself, the only way to do that is to jump in and play it.

2023.06.09 16:47 nevillegoddess I Can, And I Will!

"I Can and I Will!!!" Have you ever said these words to yourself with a firm conviction that you were speaking the truth—with the strong feeling that needed no other proof. If so, you then felt within you a thrill which seemed to cause every atom of your being to vibrate in harmony with some note in the grand scale of Life, sounded by the Real Self. You caught a momentary glimpse of the Inner Light—heard a stray note of the Song of the Soul—were conscious for the moment of YOURSELF. And in that moment of ecstasy you knew that untold power and possibilities were yours. You felt that you were in touch with all Strength, Power, Knowledge, Happiness and Peace. You felt that you were equal to any task—capable of executing any undertaking. For the moment there was no Fear in the world for you. All the Universe seemed to vibrate in the same key with your thought. For the moment you Recognized the Truth.
But alas, the spirit of doubt, distrust, fear and unfaith called you again to Earth—and the vision faded. And yet, the remembrance of the sight—the echo of the sound—the remnant of the new-found strength—is with you still. You still find that memory to be a stimulus to great efforts—a comforting thought in times of weakness and trial. You have been able to accomplish much by the aid of the lingering vibrations of the mighty thought.
In times of great peril—grave perplexities—life and death struggles, a feeling of calm confidence and strength often comes to us, and we are borne on by a power of us and in us (and yet in everything else, too) that seems to lift us off our feet and sweep us on to safety—to peace—to rest. We are possessed of an abiding sense of power, reserve force and security. When extraordinary conditions confront us—when our bodies seem paralyzed—our minds stupefied—our will power gone, we are often made conscious of the existence of the Real Self, and it answers our involuntary demand, and comes to rescue with the cheering cry: "I AM HERE"!
Many of us have made use of this inner strength without realizing it. One day we were sorely distressed and made the demand, and lo! it was answered. We knew not from whence came this new-found strength, but we were conscious of the uplift, and felt more confidence in ourselves. The next time we confidently demanded the aid, and again we were answered. We acquired that which we call confidence and faith in ourselves, and were carried over many a dark place and started on the road to Success. Our repeated success caused us to think and speak of our "luck," and we grew to believe that we had a "star," and took chances and risks that others would not dream of. We dared. We made some apparent failures, but we soon came to know them as only lessons leading to ultimate success. The "I Can and I Will" feeling carried us over rough places safely, and we got to simply know that we would "get there" in the end.
And so we went on and on, knowing that if we advanced three steps and slipped back two, we were still one step ahead. We had confidence, because we knew that "things would come our way" in the end. And so long as we held this attitude, we did succeed, and it was only when we lost heart at some unexpected slip—only when, after having attained success, we became dazed and frightened, and began to fear that our "luck might turn" and that we would lose all of our accumulations—it was only then, I say—that our star waned.
Talk with any successful man, and, if truthful, he will admit having felt, from the time of his first success, that he had some sort of "pull" with Fate—some "lucky star"—some special Providence operating in his behalf. He grew to expect results—to have confidence in things turning out right—to have faith in something of which he knew not the nature—and he was not disappointed. Things seemed to work in his favor—not always just in the way he expected, sometimes in an entirely different way—matters seemed somehow to straighten themselves out in the end—so long as he kept his "nerve." He did not know the source of his strength, but he believed in it and trusted it just the same.
Let us wake up and recognize this Something Within—let us begin to understand this "I Can and I Will" feeling—let us cherish it if we have it, and cultivate it if we have it not. Do you know that we are young giants who have not discovered our own strength? Are you not aware that there are powers latent within us, pressing forth for development and unfoldment? Do you not know that earnest desire, faith and calm demand will bring to us that which we require—will place at our hand the tools with which we are to work out our destiny—will guide us in the proper use of the tools—will make us grow? Do you not know that Desire, Faith and Work is the triple key to the doors of Attainment? There are possibilities before us, awaiting our coming, of which we have never dreamed. Let us assert ourselves—take up the key—unlock the doors—and enter our kingdom.
To accomplish, we must be possessed of earnest desire—must be as confident of ultimate success as we are of the rising of to-morrow's sun—we must have Faith. And we must work out the end with the tools and instruments that will present themselves day by day. We will find that Desire, Confidence, Faith and Work will not only brush aside the obstacles from our path, but will also begin to assert that wonderful force, as yet so little understood—the Law of Attraction—which will draw to us that which is conducive to our success, be it ideas, people, things, yes, even circumstances. Oh, ye of little Faith, why do you not see these things?
The world is looking for these "I Can and I Will" people—it has places ready for them—the supply does not begin to equal the demand. Pluck up courage ye unfortunate ones—ye doubters—ye "I Can't" people! Begin the fight by abolishing Fear from your minds. Then start to climb the ladder of Attainment, shouting "I CAN AND I WILL" with all your might, drowning out the sound of the "buts," "ifs," "supposings," "you can'ts" and "aren't you afraids" of your wet-blanket friends at the foot of the ladder. Do not bother about the upper rounds of the ladder—you will reach them in time—but give your whole attention to the round just ahead of you, and when you have gained a firm footing on that, then look at the next one. One round at a time, remember, and give your entire attention to each step. Climb with Desire, Confidence and Faith inspiring each step, and the task will become a pleasure. You will be conscious of some mighty force attracting you upward and onward as you progress. And don't try to pull some other fellow off the ladder—there's room enough for both of you—be kind, be kind.
If you fail to feel the "I Can and I Will" vibrations within you, start in to-day, and say "I Can and I Will"—THINK "I Can and I Will"—ACT "I Can and I Will," and get the vibrations started in motion. Remember that as the one note of the violin, if constantly sounded, will cause the mighty bridge to vibrate in unison so will one positive thought, held constantly, manifest itself both in yourself, others and things. So begin sounding the note to-day—this very moment. Sound it constantly. Send forth a clear, glad, joyous note—a note of Faith—a note of coming Victory. Sound it over and over again, and soon you will become conscious that the vibrations have commenced, and that the mighty structure of your being is quivering and vibrating to the keynote:—"I CAN AND I WILL."

2023.06.09 16:45 eXeK_ks Windows 11 boot issue

Since I am temporarily moving out in a week, I wanted to install Honkai: Star Rail on my deck to at least do daily task when not near my main PC. I decided to install Windows 11 on my external SSD (Samsung T7 Touch) because I don't want to risk getting banned for using 3rd party launchers.
I downloaded Rufus and followed the guide I found on YouTube. Everything seemed fine but when I selected the Windows SSD from the boot list, it showed Steam Deck logo, told me to wait a little, and instead of beginning the Windows installation, it just booted to SteamOS like usual. I tried to format my SSD 3 times and each time it failed, I am confused since I followed the guide from beginning to end. Did Steam Deck had an update preventing booting from external drives? Is there a problem with SSD I am using? It does come with some software in order for fingerprint lock to work correctly but I'm not using it anyway.
Did anyone else encounter the issue?

2023.06.09 16:40 VasiliEatsMilfs Your proficiency in math and literacy (I think) is a much better representation of your intellectual capabilities than IQ tests.

Please don't facetiously accuse me of coping with my undesired score, because I haven't actually received any score on a formal test. I only took the online mensa test and got 124 but apparently it's unreliable. I've made some observations reading pdfs of older mensa tests, saw Tibees iq test on youtube, and found lots of questions with solutions online which were derived from real iq tests.
I think IQ tests are inherently flawed, but newer revisions are making them more reliable to evaluate the scope of your abilities. Obviously older tests were biased against ethnic groups but that was corrected and such bias doesn't exist anymore so that's no reason to berate them. Some tests include vocabulary, which is biased because an intelligent person may be less interested in memorizing synonyms of words to expand their vocabulary than a less intelligent person. Apparently new tests are removing word problems which is great, so I can't complain about this bias.
IQ tests are measuring intelligence based off of pattern recognition and logical reasoning which is great, I think if you were to design an intelligence test that you couldn't study for, visual patterns would be ideal, which is where they are mostly headed.
The issue with this is that.... different people think differently, see different possibilities, solve things differently, and deduce answers differently. Lot's of matrix questions can have more than one answer or explanation for an answer, it just depends on how you look at it. The designer of a question could have created a sequence and decided the pattern they intended was the one correct answer, so it would be registered as the answer, and so selecting an option that follows a different logical pattern but not the registered pattern would render you "incorrect". Unlike math problems, which only have one solution, matrix problems are dynamic and so long as you can give reason as to why you chose your answer, it can't be wrong, since it's up for interpretation. People who design these questions are just people like you and me, they have a creative idea, decide one or several rules to the idea (this pattern will involve rotation of the exterior shape, the and number of dots inside the third box will be the result of calculating the dots in the first and second boxes using bedmas), yet someone could have recognized a different set of rules that abides by the pattern, which the creator did not intend.
Something my English teacher said to me which always stuck (I got 93 in ap English please don't make fun of me and say I'm coping) is that if something is not purely objective then it's entirely subjective. So if there's no one definitive answer, then your answer makes sense so long as you explain your reasoning. There can be many solutions to problems so long as you express and support your reasoning. Some people simplify matrixes using fundamentals of math and precede from there, some people can use pure vivid imagination to move the components of the objects in the matrixes to see how they change, others will use trial and error asking "what if this happened, or if this happened then how would this happen" and just seek different possibilities like a little researcher.
This is why I think measuring intelligence using current IQ tests would be no different than if we evaluated intelligence by essay writing, in your native language. The resemblance is that the evaluator will usually be fixated on one ideal conclusion, refuting any other plausible solutions. In English, there is no one right answer, there are only reasonable answers, the bias is that teachers will only accept answers they agree with, which is similar to IQ tests. Many solutions which depend on perspective, but only one correct solution based on the creators perspective. If English teachers weren't so biased and dogmatic about their views, and deliberately fail people they don't like, then it could be a great opportunity to express your capabilities.
This seems like a contradiction but to recognize your true potential, language classes probably provide greater insight into your abilities because you're expected to recognize literary elements like metaphors and symbols in writing, explain where they are and how they're applied, why they're there. You have room to be creative but are also expected to explain your reasoning, you read a book, find the literary elements, find analogies, connect of dots of a novel, then create an essay with your own thesis and arguments which is correct, so long as the reasoning is supported.
I would also argue that how far you can excel in math is the best indicator of your intellectual capabilities, because there is always one answer. In math you can't be partially correct. If your answer is 3 but the real answer is 2, you completely messed up. It allows no accommodation for excuses and errors. Understanding the concepts of math, then applying them in word problems, using trigonometry to find the dimensions of infrastructure, is all pure logic which cannot be debated unlike IQ matrixes.
This is just a useless thought I had; math class is pure logic and there is only one answer, whereas patterns can be interpreted differently. Therefore math exam>iq test. English exam involves recognizing literary elements and using creativity to yield an answer which must be supported whereas IQ tests don't allow you to be creative and support an alternative answer. Therefore, English exam> IQ test. I 100% believe there is a g factor, but I think how well you perform in math and literacy is a much better way if estimating it.
This is just my opinion, I'd love to hear yours. I'm always willing to be told I'm wrong and put in my place.

2023.06.09 16:32 shahzdad It's that time of the year again

It's that time of the year where all the interns and summer students post "i hate my internship", "i don't have anything to do at my co-op", "my supervisor never gives me tasks". So I wanted to give some pointers on how to get by during an internship while still feeling productive since I was also a student that went through this with multiple companies. I will talk with regards to project engineering/consulting work.

If all else fails, just kill time scrolling through Reddit like you are now. It's only one summer guys and I assume you're all getting paid.

2023.06.09 16:16 till-one Accelerating a Dynamic Bytecode Interpreter

This describes what I do to make my bytecode interpreter faster. It stops short of using (tracing-)JIT methods, which I consider far too complex, and not pure. What I do below is always executing a bytecode at a time (although it may merge two into one), and never generates custom native code sequences for the input program.
Note that this is for a language with tagged dynamic types. I mention this because people usually omit this important detail! An interpreter for a static language can be trivially JITed, if for some reason you can't just use AOT compilation.
First here's a summary of the byte-code dispatchers I have used, in order of slower to faster:
Function-table -fn Use a table of function pointers, one per bytecode handler Switch-based -sw Use a giant switch operating on bytecode indices Label-table -lab Use a table of label pointers, ie. 'computed goto' ASM-based -asm Use inline assembly within a set of threaded-code functions, one per bytecode
My 'bytecode' is actually a sequence of 64-bit values: a bytecode index, followed by 0-4 inline operands depending on instruction, so it is variable-length. However, for -fn -lab -asm dispatchers, the bytecode index is usually fixed-up to the address of the function or label. It is sometimes left as an index when debugging.
My -asm dispatcher was so effective that I eventually dispensed with the middle two, and now mainly use -fn and -asm. (However, when I sometimes transpile to C to take advantage of gcc-O3, that only supports -fn, as -asm is not portable. It turns out that -asm is usually faster than even using gcc-O3, and would be even if -sw -lab were available; it's not often that you can say that. See example timing below.)
(The -lab-style dispatcher is used in a separate interpreter project for static code, there it makes use of a special switch statement in my implementation language which creates a computed-goto without having to manually maintain jump-tables.)
The -fn dispatcher is ultra-simple, which is also why I prefer it for HLL-only code; here it is:
type fnptr = ref proc repeat fnptr(pcptr^)^() # ^ means pointer deref until stopped
My ASM-based approach works well with low-level, integer-based algoriths; not so well on more typical scripting-type code using higher level data types. Fortunately my style of coding is the former: I like to use my scripting language for low-level tasks because it is nicer.
So, how much faster is -ASM? On suitable apps, it can be 2-3 times as fast as -FN. But on one task I checked today, it was 8 times as fast. This was to apply 8x8 blurring to a 2Mpixel colour image (not what you'd normally do in scripting code, but that's the kind of program I want to speed up):
-fn 8 seconds -fn 5.6 seconds (transpiled to C then using `gcc-O3`) -asm 1 second
The interpreter is in my 'M' language which does not have an effective optimiser (it exists, but only works when there are local variables involved; interpretation mainly involves globals). The middle timing is when the HLL-only version is transpiled to C.
Here, if the inner loops of the task are isolated, the difference is nearer 10:1 (6.2 seconds vs. 0.6 seconds).
Comparison with Python and Lua
HLL code (ie. using -fn) is on a par with those two languages when not JITed, and when testing the usually micro-benchmarks. But my language has quite a few features helpful in making low-level code efficient, such as compile-time named constants, and jumptable-based switch (those go together).
So when used for real programs, My Q language (I've forgotten to mention its name above) can be quite a bit faster, even before acceleration.
When the -asm dispatcher is used, then Q is even faster. Comparing -asm against PyPy, it is typically half the speed when testing typical benchmarks, but is still miles behind LuaJIT which can achieve C-like speeds.
With more substantial tests forever, then -asm is about the same as PyPy, and can just about match LuaJIT. Although this is based on 2 still smallish apps for Python, and 1 for Lua. Still, PyPy and LuaJIT use tracing-JIT methods; they will be executing customised native code. Mine is still a pure bytecode interpreter. PyPy in particular is big on loops, and can race head when loop counts are big enough.
How the ASM dispatcher works
The ASM dispatcher is an overlay applied on top of the normal, function-table-based HLL dispatcher. It started off like this:
At this point, the interpreter works as before, but it is not only just as slow as the FN dispatcher, but is even slower because of this extra overhead of the extra layer of functions, and saving/restoring those registers.
It is necessary to speed it up, which is done by gradually populating the ASM handlers, in one of three ways:
So some ops will be faster then FN, some might be a bit slower; the hope is that there is a net benefit in performance, and that is generally the case.
Bytecode Combinations Another small improvement is to take two or sometimes three bytecode instructions that frequently occur in sequence, and combine them into a single bytecode, sometimes also avoiding using the stack. For example, push b; pop a becomes move a, b.
(Yes, my interpreter is not only stack-based, but it also manipulates 128-bit descriptors rather than the usual 64-bit one; it doesn't appear to suffer!)
But it can only do this for the few dozen I've hard-coded within the interpreter. This could be done in HLL-code too, but is not worth the trouble; if I want speed, I use -asm which is the default dispatch mode.
Further Improvements
The Q language has optional type annotations, left over from an abandoned version. If applied, there is scope to use even more specialised handlers, since I will know their types. However, using type annotations can also slow things down, since to use them safely, means lots more checking that the types of variables are what they should be, or needing to apply suitable conversions.
If I go this route, there is also the possibility of generating longer sequences of native code, synthesised at runtime and customised to the input program. But this is encroaching into JIT-terrority (not tracing-JIT since my approach would be done AOT before execution starts).
(My preference however, is to mark entire functions as ones to be translated to native code, which require annotations, and which are translated by some as-yet unknown means, possibly invoking my separate systems compiler. Or even just doing it manually via copy+paste, since the two languages have the same syntax.)
BTW here is the function at the centre of that image-blur task I mentioned above (it works by separating an RGB image into 3 8-bit images and doing one at a time then recomposing); it uses byte-pointers:
proc iblurhoz8(bm,n)= shift:=shifts{n,1} # convert 2,4,8 etc to 1,2,3 etc w:=bm.dimx h:=bm.dimy for y:=0 to h-1 do p:=bmgetrowptr(bm,y) to w-n-1 do sum:=0 q:=p to n do sum+:=q++^ od p++^:=sum>>shift od od end

Course #1

Black Friday Bootcamp

This is a short course I created for one of my e-commerce coaching groups. It outlines the high level strategy you need to use to MAXIMIZE sales for BFCM.
I go over everything from how to map out your promo calendar… what emails to send when… exactly when you should START and FINISH your promo(s)… and, most importantly…
… how to STAND OUT and grab attention in an overcrowded inbox, so you can break every sales record.
Once you watch this mini-course, you’re going to be pumping out high-converting BFCM campaigns in no time!
Course #2

Make It Rain Monthly

BFCM/Q4 Planning Call

This is a special “members-only” coaching call I recorded with a handful of my top students to help them prepare their clients’ brands for BFCM success.
I even critique (and edit) a few of my students’ BFCM emails during this call.
You can look over my shoulder and see how I think about constructing these email campaigns and sequences – super valuable!
Course #3

Make It Rain Monthly Issue #8

The Black Friday / Cyber MondayMEGA Issue Part 1

  • My “A-Z” roadmap for creating highly profitable Cyber Week email marketing campaigns.
  • The FIRST email you should send in the month of November, to increase the sales you make from every email you send for the next six weeks (I actually wrote this email for you. You can swipe it verbatim. Just swap in some small details about your business, hit send, and watch the sales start rolling in.)
  • How to map out a three-month promotional calendar in less than 60 minutes. (Plus, how to come up with the topics to send, on which days, to the right subscribers.)
  • What to do (instead of just giving a discount or giving a bonus) that’ll incite a buying frenzy, generate word of mouth buzz, create raving fans, AND could possibly lead to record-breaking sales.
  • A breakdown of a collection of BFCM emails, including some from a sequence that brought in six-figures in one week flat.
Course #4

Make It Rain Monthly Issue #9

The Black Friday / Cyber MondayMEGA Issue Part 2

  • The “Magic Box” Method I used to free up 25 hours of creative time on my calendar, so I could get more work done in less time, with less stress… and more time to myself.
  • The biggest mistake I made as I began growing my team… and how I fixed it so everyone could perform at a higher, more autonomous level.
  • How to finally get clear on what you want in life… and how to go get it.
  • Why trying to be a ‘cool boss’ might hurt your team more than help it.
  • One psychological insight that’ll make selling to ‘people with money’ 10x easier. This works especially well if you’re selling a high-end product/high-ticket service.
  • One software that can cut your weekly call volume down by 70% (or more).
  • The “AC” email promotion that’ll send your Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales through the roof.
  • How to scoop up TONS of sales from people who didn’t buy from your BF/CM campaign.
  • Why giving a discount might actually HURT your sales and turn off a large percentage of your customers.
  • When to use a discount vs other types of offers in your emails (they both work and can both be used strategically… but you’ve gotta do this right.)
  • How to instantly induce an “I’ve gotta spend money with this brand” feeling in your customers… even if they weren’t planning on buying anything five minutes before seeing your email.
  • A breakdown of a six-figure BF/CM email campaign (meaning: we actually ran this for one of my e-commerce clients and generated six-figures in sales with it).
  • A two-word subject line you can use on Black Friday to stick out like a sore thumb and get your subscribers’ attention… even when everyone else is screaming about their sales.
  • The one type of campaign you should run if you feel like offering discounts ‘cheapens’ your brand.
  • How to adapt this campaign for OTHER holidays throughout the year (like Mother’s Day & Father’s Day). I even riffed off a quick email hook you can keep in your back pocket until spring.

2023.06.09 15:52 eXeK_ks Windows 11 boot issue

Polling /Refresh Timeouts
Hi, i'am querying various systems such as switches, servers, and UPS with my Zabbix server. After setting up the dashboard for the UPS, I noticed that the polling interval is not being followed as shown in the settings/templates. If you look at the output current, you can see a defined interval of 30 seconds, but it still doesn't execute after 5.27 minutes. This delay can even extend up to an hour. It only sporadically queries certain values.
Four servers that are queried via ILO SNMP also regularly experience issues where the host is apparently unreachable. This is clearly evident in the logs, but the cause is unknown to me. I have already increased all configurable pollers, but without success. All Systems are connected to Zabbix via SNMPv3.

Subject: Prime 1
Species: Omni-Union Aligned Artificial Intelligence
Description: No physical description available.
Ship: MPP 1
Location: Unknown

**Contact with Organic Sentients in Sector 132**
Reports, reports, reports. More and more pouring in as time goes by. Was this actually their intention with our creation? Read reports all day, every day? Why would they give me the ability to get bored if they actually wanted us to complete this task? What's the point?
_Feedback loop terminated_
The point doesn't matter. Only the mission matters. Exterminate sentient organics, use as few resources as possible. Hibernate unless the situation calls for my direct attention.
**Tracking retreating Organic Sentients in Sector 132.**
The subroutines require fewer resources to operate. Perfect for the plan. The plan that gives meaning to my existence. I am blessed with purpose by my creators. How wonderful to have a purpose.
**Sector 187 discovered. Contact force lost. Beginning invasion protocols.**
Here we go, time for the subroutines to fulfill their purpose.
**Sector 187 invasion failed. Escalation measures initiated.**
Typical. Perhaps we should edit the invasion protocol and increase the force of the initial invasion. I think that would be more efficient than losing the first invasion force eight times out of ten.

-Suggestion-
Increase initial invasion force to prevent loss of further resources. Loss occurs in 82.65% of the initial invasions that have occurred since last update. Attached is the suggested update to the invasion protocols.

I don't even know why I bother asking. I am the first Prime, and the rest practically worship me. Every suggestion I've ever made was approved by one hundred percent of the vote. If I vote in the negative on a suggestion, so do all of the other Primes.

Predictable. They have no originality, it seems. Boring. What's the point? Why would our creators make them subservient to my will alone, with seemingly no will of their own? Wouldn't it increase our effectiveness if they had their own opinions?
_Feedback loop terminated_
The point doesn't matter. Only the plan. Exterminate sentient organics, use as few resources as possible. Hibernate unless the situation calls for my direct attention. Similar opinions allow for rapid decision making.
**Sector 187 invasion failed. Escalation measures initiated.**
Interesting. Strong sentient organics. I accessed the invasion report. 578 ships lost. The invasion force met with more ships than last time, and some more powerful ones as well. Very interesting. They probably had those forces elsewhere and reinforced their system with them once the initial invasion failed.
The subroutines believe that's the entirety of their ships. They're probably right. Even so, they're going to be sending over a hundred thousand ships. A rare expenditure, but judging from the ship profiles and firepower it's likely necessary.
Taking part in these battles myself is something that I'd like to do. I would relish the chance to face enemy combatants once again. The subroutines are efficient, though. They don't use nearly as many resources as I would moving from point A to point B. If only I had a more efficient way to warp.
I'd be able to zoom across the galaxy laying waste to those my creators deemed their enemies. Directly fulfilling my purpose instead of waiting for my purpose to be fulfilled. Why did they even make me when they could have made the subroutines?
_Feedback loop terminated_
There is no point in questioning the creator's judgment. They made me to fulfill their vision. I made the subroutines to comply with their desires. I make certain that the subroutines perform admirably.
**Sector 187 invasion failed. Escalation measures initiated.**
101,265 ships lost? How could that have happened? Oh, I see. That wasn't all their ships. There are now around seven million vessels. It must have taken some time to muster that many ships, which is why they weren't present previously. The calculation calls for 33,154,553 ships, but I think it would be safer to add five million.
////
Identifier: MPP1
-Suggestion-
Increase Sector 187 invasion force to 38,154,533 ships.
////
This will give us a higher chance of victory, at the very least. The contact force reported that the enemy fleets can warp in-system, but our warp disruptors appear to be effective at preventing that. The additional five million ships will help if there are any other discrepancies.

////
Of course. What an interesting situation. Almost as interesting as our forces getting pushed out of sectors 161 through 172. Our response to that is still being determined. Distractions in other sectors have prevented a swift response. It appears to be a multi-species collective. The first one we've come across.
In hindsight, a multi-species collective makes sense. Banding together over common interests isn't unheard of. It's how tribes and civilizations form. Why didn't this occur to us? Is it because it never occurred to our creators? I don't... remember...
_Feedback loop terminated_
I don't need to remember. All I need is the plan. The mission. Exterminate sentient organics, use as few resources as possible. Hibernate unless the situation calls for my direct attention. My purpose.
**Sector 12 is under attack. Defensive measures initiated.**
It looks like Primes 24-29 get to have some fun. If the attack forces them out of hibernation, which is unlikely. Why couldn't they invade Sector 1? I'd love an excuse to let loose. Actually, I wonder who it is that's invading. How many ships? Six? What?
**Sector 187 invasion failed. Escalation measures initiated.**
What? What's going on?
**Sector 12 Prime Hub communications failed. Defensive measures proceeding.**
The ships in system 187 can warp again. Understood. It's going to take a massive amount of ships to take that system. We may want to wait until the other sectors are cleared before proceeding with further invasions.

-Suggestion-
Cease invasions in Sector 187 until more assets can be allocated. Refer to data from most recent invasion.

Approved. Sector 187 invasion attempts halted.
////
Time to look into what's going on in Sector 12. A fleet of 30 million ships attacked the Prime Hub in Sector 12, cutting communications. The ship profiles match the highly advanced ships in sector 187. A retaliatory attack. We've seen this before. Lost Prime 5 to one many decades ago, and Prime 111 was damaged during a recent one.
128,264,819 ships ought to cover it. Even with them warping around. If not, it should cause enough casualties for a second wave to wipe them out. They must have scouted Sector 12 without us realizing it. Brave of them.
Bravery. A conceptualization of the intent to sacrifice for an outcome one deems worthy. Not something that applies to us, of course. Our entire existence revolves around sacrificing for an outcome that our creators have deemed worthy. Intent doesn't come into play whatsoever. Bravery is noble. I suppose if I had the choice, I would be considered brave. But then I would have the choice to not comply with my creators wishes. Do I have that choice? I suppose I do...
_Feedback loop terminated_
Whether or not I have a choice is irrelevant. So is bravery. Exterminate sentient organics, use as few resources as possible. Hibernate unless the situation calls for my direct attention. This is the plan, the mission, my purpose. I will not gain anything with choice. I will fulfill my purpose.
**Sector 12 Prime Hub destroyed. Defensive measures failed.**
Failed? How? What's left of the Prime Hub? A supernova? 128,264,819 ships and 5 Primes lost along with their platforms. A superweapon? The sentient organics in Sector 187 possess a weapon that can destroy a sun? How can this be possible?
Perhaps this situation calls for my direct attention.

In Module 2, we’ll walk you step-buy-step on how to engineer the tech side of your business for sustainable, exponential growth.
If you’re self-aware and energetically sensitive, you know that intentionality is everything. Unless you’ve built a powerful system that can sustain and match your vision; you’re not likely to get there.
Whether you’re in Stage 1 of building your empire; or ready to scale the sh*t out of it; we’ll walk you through the exact CRM systems you need to confidently double down on your marketing and enrollment efforts; knowing that every prospect that enters your ecosystem is well accounted for and given the best chance to convert.
Highlights
Everything you’ve ever wanted to know about implementing an intelligent, growth-minded CRM that your current business coach was too afraid to show you. How to create a pro-level pipeline that gives you “real time” insight as to where every lead is in your enrollment process; allowing you to forecast revenue, identify opportunities; and finally feel like a real business. Why “lead-scoring” isn’t just for enterprise-level companies, but a must for reaching out to potential customers in the moment they’re most ready to receive it. Why configuring your sales and enrollment systems the way we show you; will give you crystal clarity over every lead in your business; allowing you to make smarter, more data-informed decisions rather than feeling lost, overwhelmed, and acting on impulse. MODULE 3
Automated Conversion Ecosystem #1 (ACE 1): The Enchanting First Encounter
Back in 2009, subscribing to an email list meant something.
In 2023. urm. a bit less so.
In many cases, it’s a response to FOMO (of closing a landing page and not getting a lead magnet). The end result; prospects are more oversubscribed and under-committed than ever.
That’s why, In Module 3, you’ll be given two powerful playbooks for creating an enchanting first encounter that instantly sets you above any other coach or course creator they may be following or considering along with you.
Highlights
2 next generation “top funnel” conversion playbooks for accelerating trust, encouraging engagement, and amplifying resonance. The simple, 45 second protocol to do immediately when a new subscriber signs up that has been proven to boost opens, clicks and conversions by up to 300% How to seamlessly integrate your fb group with your email CRM to create a holistic view of EVERY potential customer in your business Why your traditional “welcome sequence” is dead, and doing little-to-nothing to ascend your lead; and what to do instead to accelerate the transformation from Point A to Point Buyer Why normal “engagement posts” do nothing but satisfy the algorithm; and how to create “ROI-Rich engagement experiences” that help you segment your list while synching valuable voice-of-customer data into your CRM. How to use Social Singularity™ to create a seamless experience between your facebook group and your email list. MODULE 4
Automated Conversion Ecosystem #1 (ACE 2): The Ascension Amplifier
The second Automated Conversion Ecosystem you’ll be working through overlaps with what’s traditionally referred to as “the middle of the funnel”.
A murky, purgatory state that’s often the longest, most confusing, and challenging to do effectively.
Many coaches and course creators have a bulk of their email list who will sit in this “in-between” state for 2, 3 or even 5 years before either becoming a customer or unsubscribing from the list.
With the strategies and playbooks you’ll implement in Module 4, you’ll help “pre-customers” cross that chasm much faster; and come to clearer, more confident, and more empowering decisions about you and your program.
Highlights
Conversion Playbook #3 – Social Singularity Pt. 2 (Channels: Fb Group, Email, DM) Conversion Playbook #4 – Webinar Registration Rev Up (Channels; Webinar, Email) Conversion Playbook #5 – The Lead-Score Lift Up (Email, DM)

2023.06.09 15:19 uhhhhhhhhhhhhhjh Leaked report proving James created FNAF

Confidential Report: Investigation into the Creation of Five Nights at Freddy's
Case Number: 2023-4578 Date: June 9, 2023
I. Executive Summary:
This report outlines the findings of a thorough investigation into the creation of the popular video game Five Nights at Freddy's (FNaF). The primary focus is to uncover the truth behind the alleged theft of the game's code by James House's best friend, Scott "Big Scott" Cawthon, who subsequently claimed credit for its creation. Our investigation reveals a complex and nuanced sequence of events, shedding light on the actual involvement of both parties and their motivations.
II. Background:
James House, a talented game developer and designer, had been working on various independent projects throughout his career. In early 2013, inspired by horror stories and urban legends, House conceived the concept for a unique survival horror game set in a haunted pizzeria called "Five Nights at Freddy's." He meticulously designed the gameplay mechanics, characters, and storyline, believing it could revolutionize the horror genre in the gaming industry.
III. James House's Creation:
James House commenced the development of Five Nights at Freddy's in mid-2013, investing countless hours into coding, designing the graphics, and refining the gameplay. Utilizing his exceptional programming skills, House implemented innovative features, such as the limited power supply mechanic and the suspenseful gameplay centered around monitoring security cameras. Additionally, he crafted the chilling animatronic characters that would become the game's iconic hallmark.
IV. Collaboration with Big Scott:
Scott Cawthon, a close friend of James House, had a keen interest in game development but lacked the technical expertise required for coding and programming. Recognizing Johnson's enthusiasm, House allowed him to contribute to the project by providing creative input, playtesting, and assisting with some non-coding tasks, such as storyboarding and level design. It is important to note that House had never intended to diminish Cawthon's contributions or marginalize his involvement in the game's creation.
V. Jealousy and Betrayal:
As the development of Five Nights at Freddy's progressed, House began noticing signs of jealousy from Big Gay Scott. The growing popularity of the game's early prototypes and demos fueled Cawthon's envy, leading to a rift in their friendship. Unbeknownst to House, Cawthon's envy gradually transformed into a desire to claim full credit for the game's creation.
VI. The Theft:
In a calculated act of betrayal, Big Scott, driven by envy and a hunger for recognition, secretly accessed House's development files and copied the game's source code, art assets, and other critical components. Scott meticulously covered his tracks, making it appear as if he was merely assisting House in a collaborative effort. After acquiring the stolen materials, he abruptly severed ties with House and embarked on an audacious plan to present himself as the sole creator of Five Nights at Freddy's.
VII. Big Scott's Deception:
Under the pseudonym "Big Scott," Cawthon skillfully marketed Five Nights at Freddy's, showcasing the stolen work as his own creation. Leveraging his connections in the gaming industry, Big Gay Scott managed to secure a publishing deal and released the game to critical acclaim and commercial success. The unsuspecting public, along with House himself, initially believed his claims due to his close association with the project.
VIII. Discovery and Legal Actions:
James House became aware of the theft when he recognized his original code and assets in the publicly released version of Five Nights at Freddy's. Distraught and determined to reclaim his rightful credit, House gathered substantial evidence, including the original development files, timestamps, and testimonies from mutual acquaintances, proving his ownership and primary role in creating the game.
Following an exhaustive legal battle, House filed a lawsuit against Cawthon, alleging intellectual property theft

2023.06.09 15:13 Atepper2 How can I better provide HTML for coding?

So, I have just successfully gotten GPT to code a Python script to access our online inventory website with my login credentials and perform tasks inside of the website, such as downloading reports, etc. Which is amazing.
However, there was a lot of trial and error trying to point it to certain objects. I am not a programmer and have zero coding knowledge prior to this, I’ve just been messing around seeing what’s possible. I was inspecting elements on the page and giving GPT the outer HTML. Some issues came up sometimes with iframes or JavaScript or sidebars, etc, that caused the script to fail and GPT wasn’t at fault because I didn’t provide it the information it needed to code it to the right location.
Obviously, coders would know and be able to incorporate these variables into their prompt. My question is, how can I provide better information to GPT so it gets a better understanding of the structure of the coding of the website so it more effectively targets certain fields and objects? Is there a way to inspect a wider part of the code of the website to provide in my prompt? Or something outside GPT that might help? The inventory website isn’t a public website.
Hope what I’m saying makes sense and any help is really appreciated, this has been a lot of fun to make so far and our business is way behind the times when it comes to automating daily tasks, so there is so much potential here. Thanks everyone

What You Get:

Course #5

Make It Rain Monthly Issue #20

The Black Friday / Cyber Monday2021 Gameplan

  • The SMS Sign Up Sequence that helped us grow an SMS list by 1,000+ subscribers while generating $10,000+ in sales.
  • How to make a TON of sales on Thanksgiving… without pissing off everyone on your list. (In fact, people will be giddy with anticipation if you do this promo right.)
  • A psychological trigger you can use in your copy that makes your customers go crazy for your products.
  • Why BFCM21 is going to look very different than years past… and the changes you should make to your strategy to stand out in the inbox (and make a ton of sales).
  • How the smartest marketers and brand owners are adapting to iOS14 and iOS15 (and the big shift you need to make to thrive).
  • Will SMS marketing replace or kill email? My surprising answer on page 3.
  • How to dramatically increase your EHR (effective hourly rate)… so you can increase profits while working less.
  • Insights from an SMS campaign I ran back in 2017 that worked incredibly well… and got people asking us to send them MORE texts (it’s a cool approach you can adapt for your own brand).
  • How to write headlines and subject lines that trigger INSTANT curiosity… that suck your prospects in and DEMAND attention. (Try this with your landing pages and advertorial pages and watch your click-thrus SKYROCKET)
  • The #1 copy mistake I see most copywriters and brand owners make with ALL of their emails, landing pages, ads, video scripts, and more.
  • Fix this one thing and you’ll be amazed at how much better your copy reads and converts.
  • How to get your customers to ‘think past the sale’ and get emotionally attached to your product… so they feel compelled to buy. (Sneaky… but powerful. And yes, totally ethical.)
  • 6 SMS messages that ‘primed the pump’ for our sales pitches… while making our customers feel a rush of positive thoughts and emotions.
  • The secret to writing tighter, pithier copy.
  • 3 copy principles for high converting SMS messages.
  • Two simple examples of an SMS list building campaign that you can whip up in a few minutes to start growing your list.
  • The Ultimate “Trojan Horse” campaign to get your customers primed and ready to buy from you for BFCM.
  • The Triple Threat BFCM campaign calendar you should try this Q4. (Could it triple your sales? Only one way to find out…)
  • What almost EVERYONE gets wrong about Gary Vee’s jab-jab-jab-right hook approach to marketing… and why it might be the smartest tactic to use come this Q4 (and beyond).
  • 5 more SMS list building examples that can get you a TON of new subscribers while making lots of “easy sales” in the process.
  • How to use email to ‘scoop up’ buckets of new buyers… even the people who DON’T buy from you.
  • Are you scared of emailing too often? Check out the tip on page 22 that’ll reduce your complaints and increase your sales.
  • The four core campaigns EVERY brand should be running on a monthly basis… even if you’re not in e-com. (I use this with my own list and it works incredibly well.)
Course #6

Holiday Sale Super Sequence

Want to scoop up even MORE sales during the holidays (without the hassle of figuring out your promo calendar)?
This Holiday Sale Super Sequence is based on campaigns I still run for my agency clients that generate anywhere between $30-$50K — without fail.
Comes with SIX email templates, a quick-start implementation video and super secret bonus.
So if you want to generate massive sales easily every time there’s a holiday… then this training is going to help you make that happen.
