What is your favorite white colored blocks used for buildings?
When visiting various builder islands, I noticed that aside from various brick and stone blocks, when it comes to "flat color" blocks, white is by far the most popular.
Fortunately there's several white colored blocks you could use. Which is your favorite for buildings?
Chalk? I used this sometimes during in my story towns. I don't like its texture though
Marble. I think this is nice, in fact I prefer to use this than the purple blocks you create from them
Snow. I've only used this to build a temporary shelter outside of town during story mode
Plaster. I think this is my favorite among these 5. Also it can be dyed into other colors that are nice. The problem is farming the slime shells for these takes forever
White block. Can be made easily from chalk. Among the color blocks, I think the white block looks the best because it has some slight textures. The other color blocks are too solidly colored and don't look so nice on buildings. While I prefer plaster, sometimes I get lazy to farm sea shells and resort to white blocks instead.
How about you?

2023.04.01 09:00 domatilla 25 Books I Picked For Bingo (And 20 I Didn't)

25 Books I Picked For Bingo (And 20 I Didn't)
I dig the accidental navy/red vibes
Coming in at the absolute last minute (it’s still March 31st somewhere!) with another Bingo wrap up!
Since telling myself I have to read X book by Y date is the surest way to ensure I never pick up X again (sorry to my college roommate for moving cross country with your copy of Mansfield Park - I promise I'll get back to it any day now), I look at Bingo less as an exercise in finding books to fit the prompts and more as a chance to read as broadly as possible in the hopes I somehow hit all 25 by the end of the year. Some people are sharpshooters; I'm out here hurling a dozen book-shaped grenades at a single "Set in Space" shaped target.
So here we are at the end of the year, with 73 entries in my bingo spreadsheet. The earliest I could have called it done was January 9th, but that wasn't enough. I didn't want just any bingo card. I wanted *the* Bingo card. The Best of All Possible Bingo Cards. So I kept reading, and rearranging, and playing Bingo Card Sudoku late into the night, following the guiding light of two, unspoken rules:
  1. The book had to be *really true* to the spirit of the card. No "well, I can use this for Family Matters because grandma comes to dinner" technicalities if I can help it.
  2. I had to really like the book.
And now, with less than a week to go, I have a card with 25 books I (really) (mostly) loved, and a digital pile of 40+ others. With all that rambling aside, here are the winners of the 2022 Great Bingo Book-Off, along with some runner-ups that are honoured just to be nominated.
LGBTQIA List Book: An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon This square is the reason for the "no technicalities" rule because the first book I read for it was A Darker Shade of Magic and you know what that book doesn't have? Any significant queer characters. I didn't realize until too late that you don't get more than a throwaway line about the prince being into men until the second book. I'm glad I jumped ship though, because holy shit. An Unkindness of Ghosts knocked me out. It's a brilliant, brutal, beautiful read. It doesn't pull punches or give you the grace of easy answers. I will read anything Rivers Solomon touches.
Weird Ecology: Semiosis by Sue Burke Honestly, this one is a spiritual tie with Children of Time. Both are generational stories of evolution, survival, and human interference. I liked CoT a bit more but ultimately picked Semiosis but this is the category that future readers (me) will look back on and ask, what was she thinking? I think plants are much more suspicious than your friendly neighbourhood spiders.
Two or More Authors: The Steel Seraglio (or, The City of Silk and Steel) by Louise Carey, Mike Carey, and Linda Carey At first I read The Vela for this one - I bet it's gonna get a lot of love this year. I felt it never shook its piecemeal origins, so I picked up The Steel Seraglio after I saw it recommended here (and because I recognized Carey's name from X-Men, hah) and damn am I glad I did. A slow burn with beautiful prose, well drawn characters, it's somehow greater than the sum of its parts.
Historical SFF: The Empire of Gold by S. A. Chakraborty The only reason I booted out The Lions of Al-Rassan is I felt I could find something in real history, which is too bad because damn did I end up loving that book. I really struggled to get into it but was fully sobbing by the end. I have less to say about The Empire of Gold - it's the strongest book in the trilogy and finally succeeded in getting me to like one of the leads, who I'd been lukewarm on for two books. The Islamic-centric setting is still the strongest selling point, but I like that it didn't shy away from the messier implications of its plot for a nicely tied up ending.
Set in Space: Babel-17 by Samuel R. Delany This was the last addition to the card, muscling out The Vela (again!) and Dead Silence in February. I'm making a concentrated effort to read more classic sci-fi this year and I'm glad I started with some new wave because this is a delight. A deep dive into language and understanding the unfamiliar, and a reminder of how much contemporary sci-fi writers owe to the past.
Standalone: The Changeling by Victor Lavalle This category may have been "Best Book You Can't Fit Elsewhere," since I read mostly standalones. The Changeling is a fairy tale in every sense of the word - built around simple, straightforward actions, a cautionary tale, more than a little messed up.
Anti-Hero: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo Look. I didn't want to read this book. It's too obvious a HM pick. I read Shadow and Bone last year and hated it. But we were halfway through February and my only other option, These Violent Delights, had almost completely faded from my memory, so I bit the bullet. And you know what? Y'all are right. It's good. You win this time, Leigh.
Book Club OR Readalong Book: Bluebird by Ciel Pierlot I was cursed by a witch to never have my library's holds become available at a convenient time so HM for this square is a struggle. Out of the months I could jump in, Bluebird was the clear winner. It's just a really fun read with just enough emotional heft behind it to keep it from feeling frivolous. Plus I can tell Pierlot likes a lot of the same sci-fi as me.
Cool Weapon: Spear by Nicola Griffith I'm a simple reader. I hear Arthurian legends, I grab a book. I'm usually over woman-crossdresses-to-fight plots, but I was drawn in here by the deeper exploration of gender and the dreamlike prose. It's a very hazy read, like a story passed down through the mist.
Revolutions and Rebellions: Nona the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir I could go on about the many reasons I picked Nona over Babel, another book I quite liked that dove harder into the ideology of rebellion. I could say I preferred Nona's ground eye view of life in wartime, or her childlike attempts to piece together a struggle both far bigger and smaller than herself. I could talk about the meticulously crafted mysteries. But the truth is, I just love this book, I love this series, and I will follow Tamsyn Muir to the ends of the earth. Alecto the Ninth when.
Name in the Title: Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke Jonathan took this spot over Piranesi, a book I enjoyed much more, solely because there's two names for the price of one. It's not that I didn't like reading Jonathan - I very much did. I just like having read it more than I liked actually reading it. Piranesi, on the other hand, is the kind of poetic ontological mystery I live for.
Author Uses Initials: The Liar's Knot by M. A. Carrick This series is going to be another popular one for this card, I think. I read both The Mask of Mirrors and The Liar's Knot this year, and thought the characterization in book two was much stronger than the (already enjoyable) first. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series now that the top-notch worldbuilding is fully established.
Published in 2022: Leech by Hiron Ennis There are a few books I could’ve used here, but Leech was so good I needed to include it somewhere and it’s not technically HM for Non-Human Protagonist. But damn, did I love this book. Gothic mystery with really clever things being done in the narration - like an unreliable narrator that’s unreliable even to itself. I can’t wait to see what else Ennis writes.
Urban Fantasy: Small Miracles by Olivia Atwater Another popular one! I read a lot of urban-adjacent fantasy this year, but Small Miracles focuses on the struggles of surviving everyday century life in such a charming way it was hard to pick anything else. I almost went with Legends & Lattes for the same reason until I realized I was forgetting the “19th-21st century” part of the square. Might’ve submitted it with it there and lost the edit link, oops. I'm the one the mods warned you about. Learn from my mistake.
Set in Africa: Noor by Nnedi Okorafor This is Okorafor’s card to lose. I binged the Binti trilogy earlier this year and was a little disappointed at the way it didn’t seem to come together. I much preferred Noor, with its solarpunk locations, themes of tradition v. technological progress, and life on the edges of a capitalist hellscape.
Non-Human Protagonist: The Raven Tower by Ann Leckie It took me ages to get through Ancillary Justice and I had it filed as books I recognized as good without clicking with, so I almost didn’t read this, but I’m so glad I did. Another sort-of-mystery where the narrator knows more than the reader, using clever tricks with the writing to pull it off on a meta level. Add in a Shakespeare retelling and a metaphysical debate about the nature of divinity and you’re checking all my favourite boxes. Easily a new all-time fave.
Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey: Middlegame by Seanan McGuire This was me giving McGuire another chance after I bounced off Wayward Children. Middlegame was one of the first books I read this year, and nothing came to surpass it for this category. I had hopes for The Midnight Library, a book about things I should have loved, until it turned out I absolutely hated it. I loved Middlegame’s sense of scale, of depth in the universe, and the metaphysical mystery eschews metaphysical answers in favour of the very physical relationships.
Five Short Stories: New Suns, ed. Nisi Shawl Anthologies are tough collections to review but New Suns had mostly hits and few misses, and I pulled out about half a dozen new authors to check out. I needed something with more variety than my first pick, Silk & Steel, which I found monotonous. There’s only so many short romances I can get through before I check out in favour of something longer.
Features Mental Health: Son of a Trickster by Eden Robinson I waffled a bit on this one since the first book in the trilogy falls more into magic realism than pure fantasy, but A Prayer for the Crown-Shy fell flat for me so if Penguin Random House tags it fantasy that’s good enough for me. I loved the way the dry, straightforward prose speaks to the survival methods of the characters, and the unflinching but emotionally honest portrayal of addiction.
Self Published OR Indie Publisher: Zeroth Law by Guerric Haché This square was down to Zeroth Law or The Midnight Bargain by C.L. Polk, and Haché won me over with the Pacific Northwest. Vancouver Island is long overdue for a proper space elevator.
Award Finalist, but Not Won: Paladin’s Strength by T. Kingfisher This was the hardest square for me for one simple reason: I am very lazy, and looking up the award situation for every book I read is a lot of effort. Paladin’s Strength stands here representing the whole Saint of Steel series, all of which I read and thoroughly enjoyed. Kingfisher really understands the essence of paladins as people who are both extremely hot and extremely annoying.
BIPOC Author: Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse The scale of the world and the sense of dread that builds over the course of the book are killer. Black Sun was my favourite book by an Indigenous author this year including, unfortunately, Fevered Star. There’ve been two books of set-up so far and I hope the next book finally delivers. Honourable mention to Elatsoe by Darcie Little Badger, which is thoroughly charming and would’ve made the card if it was less of a suburban fantasy.
Shapeshifters: Comeuppance Served Cold by Marion Deeds I don’t have much to say about this one, other than it’s a delight and I used my other shapeshifter books elsewhere. The only one left was The Bird King, which felt laborious where Comeuppance Served Cold was light, breezy, and thrilling enough to knock out in one night.
No Ifs, Ands, or Buts: Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White I accidentally narrowed this square down to “Books About Trans Survival And Found Fantasy With Long Titles” when it came down to this YA tale of body horror and righteous anger, or to Light From Uncommon Stars’s examination of womanhood. The latter was ambitious but didn’t come together, the former was straightforward but managed to pull it off, and I’ve been more and more appreciative of some good ol’ rage these days.
Family Matters: Black Water Sister by Zen Cho Loved it. First book I read last April, parked itself in this square and refused to budge even when I *really* needed a HM Ifs, Ands, or Buts. It’s hard to get more family-centric than your grandmother coming back from the dead to scold you for not respecting your parents. It’s dark and resonant and somehow manages to not feel too heavy.
And there we have it! As of the time of typing, there are 3 minutes left in March and I just got a notification that my hold on Assassin’s Apprentice is released. Here’s hoping I can finagle it into tomorrow’s card!

2023.04.01 08:40 jjack339 Planning 1st Europe Trip Looking for Feedback Help

My wife and I want to do a week in Europe this summer.
  1. We live in Midwest USA so we want great beaches to be a part of the trip.
  2. Want to experience a major European city
  3. Reasonable budget. Want a nice Hotel with good locations to local food, nightlife and beach. Don't care if only 3 stars since we don't want to do a hang around resort trip(would just go to Caribbean again if we wanted that)
  4. Something different. We lived in Hawaii for several years, and have been all over the USA.
So right now I am thinking
6 nights in Lloret Del Mar. Seems like good beaches and night life there. We would rent a car. Several days enjoying beach and local Lloret Del Mar sights. At a least a full day trip down to Barcelona, maybe a mini road trip up to Carcassonne mixed in. Maybe Girona too or maybe we will feel Barcelona needs another day.
Trip would be late June.
This sound like a solid plan. We really want to rent a car since it provides freedom. Out favorite trip all time was when we hopped to the Big Island Hawaii rented a car, and just did whatever we thought looked cool.

The zartan people are named after a legendary hero and political and spiritual leader whom first name first name is lost to time. The zartan people named themselves after his death to carry on his legacy. Father zartan first encounter with the crystal coincided with his discovery on monster island later known as island zartan in which he singlehandedly dispatched a goblin mob. Father zartan naturally took to the crystals power and shaped it to what it is today. The zartans saw him as a prophet. He was a ultra-nationalist / nativist political party And sees Caucasians as the only free race and Viewed other race's with total contempt.
What do you guys think? What should I add or change about my lore?

2023.04.01 06:51 literaryguru Mr. Fake Name

This is very short, but pretty funny, so I thought I'd throw it up here. It also just happened on my shift about an hour ago...
I work in a resort that also has a marina and we get lots of drop in guests by boat. Because of where our island is, we get many repeat guests in the marina and we aren't too sticky with actually checking ID when they check in. Also, when they drop in without a reservation, they usually just give us their name and the system auto populates all their info. We just confirm it's them verbally and proceed with the reservation. It's all pretty informal.
Tonight, I get a call from a boat that's going to show up in an hour and they sound a bit drunk. I think, better off on the dock then travelling around drunk at night in the ocean, so I tell them to pick a slip and come up to the guest services at the resort and I'll make them a reservation.
The guy literally stumbles up the stairs from the lower doors that lead to the marina about an hour later. Here's how our conversation went:
Me: "All right, let's make you a reservation. What slip did you pull into?"
Captain Highliner: "Slip 48. You got a washroom?"
Me: "Yes, just on the second floor. I can wait."
Captain Highliner goes down the stairs, does his business and returns.
Me: "All right sir, what's your first name?"
Captain Highliner: "Bill"
Me: "And your last name?"
Captain Highliner looks slowly at the pens he has in his hand (He grabbed a bunch from my "free pens" bucket at the front desk) and then he looks back at me.
Captain Highliner: "Pen."
Me: "Ya, I'm going to need to see some ID."
Captain Highliner pulls out his wallet and shows me his real name on his ID and it isn't "Pen". I type the name in, make his sign-in sheet, which he signs. He then insists on prepaying with cash for his stay, even though he also gives me a credit card for incidentals. I take the cash and proceed with the payment. Then, he reaches in his wallet and hands me $50.
Me:"What's this for? A tip?"
Captain Highliner: "Yup. Why? Don't you want it?"
Me: "Oh, I want it. Thanks very much Bill. Enjoy your night."
Bill fist bumps me and wanders back down to his boat.
That was a pleasant interaction with one drunk captain.

2023.04.01 04:25 Monkeydp81 Windwail Highland's Forgotten Settlement: Part 4 (Final)

Windwail Highland's Forgotten Settlement: Part 4 (Final)

If this is your first time looking at this series please at least read part 1 before asking questions so I don't have answer things I've already covered

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
So you don't have to go back and forth between part 3 and 4 here is the map and key again

Map:

Due to the large and spread out nature of this area I’m going to have to do things a little differently. Below is a map of the area with every ruin marked and labeled. As such locations will only be described on the map and not in the ruins descriptions as was done before.
Part 3 covers ruins 1-9 while part 4 will cover 10-21.
Key: Clovers: Path markers for my own self reference
Stars: Ruin Locations
Red Line: Approximate path locations
https://preview.redd.it/3t71kzwkh6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9d0803c4db5f01b25ba2703d1ad7892147e006e
Ruin #10:
https://preview.redd.it/8sea5o3rh6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=08c4ade47dada6162b67a38eb967451f73ca408d
This is what I believe to be the ruins of another residence. On the left we have the remnants of a wall, in the center we have what was almost certainly a doorway, and in front of that doorway we have the remains of an arch. Additionally it is located at the start of one of the two large paths aside from the main one. The most interesting feature of this ruin is the mound of barren ground that the wall on the left is partially buried in. This mound is rather large and likely contains quite a bit of stone within it. This leads me to believe that part of this structure, most likely the floor, was disassembled and then buried at some point in the past. The floor stands as a likely contender because there are no other patches of barren soil present within Ruin #10. Something very out of place for something that was so clearly a structure.
Ruin #11:
https://preview.redd.it/rjs9ays3i6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=f7d2194da30bad06b8cdd94d768411a258c7afa6
This ruin is what looks to be another arch section. It sits right next to one of the large path remains and appear to have been buried quite deep. But it’s unlikely to have been buried intentionally as we can still see it. If it was done intentionally then it wouldn’t be higher than the level the path remains are at. This I feel leads some more credence towards stuff mentioned in the earlier sections about buildings coming down violently. A sudden structural collapse would account for a partial burial due to debris, which likely being organic (wood), would eventually turn into soil. Plus, (before I trimmed them away for the photo) this ruin has a lot of plant life around it, indicative of high quality soil. As for use, I think it was likely decorational as the path it sits next to is quite wide. It would be a very pretty place to have arches going overhead.
Ruin #12:
Angle 1

Angle 2
These ruins are a very interesting bunch. All the columns visible except for the one that still has a block topping it (Angle 1 third from the right), are made of unmarked stone. It is highly unlikely that the original civilization would suddenly start partially building with unmarked stone. A much more likely theory is restoration by a different group of people after the fall of this one. If this is the case, then it explains why they are scattered within so many other parts of the complex. It also means that this area has been settled by at least 3 separate groups. Those who used carved stone, those who didn’t, and those who founded Springvale. When it comes to the purpose of these ruins I would take a guess at it being a gatehouse of some sort. The ruins on the eastern side form a very small structure no matter which way you put the columns back up. The column on the western side of the path (Angle 2 far left) could be the remains of a wall. This would be a good spot for a gate as the natural features of the area provide most of the wall by themselves, meaning less material has to be used to create it. Why this area would be partitioned off I don’t know, as nothing that looks too important sits behind it. But that important stuff could well be all gone now.
Ruin #13:
https://preview.redd.it/s3j145pyi6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=429f810dceea3899b7f105dbca1f8e838dfce0bb
These ruins are that of a section of wall (far left), an arch piece (middle left), an inverted arch (right background), and an unmarked stone column (right foreground). These ruins are the first ones that I would firmly believe show evidence of terraforming in the area. These are too close together to not have been a part of the same structure yet if you stood them back up they would not align correctly, making it likely that they were moved. That’s not even mentioning the fact that half the ruins sit about a meter higher than the rest. To further back this up in the area where the nearby path section leads to the grass is actually physically shorter in a few areas (you can go check this yourself but I assure you it’s true). This of course likely means that there are obstructions buried in the soil. It would make sense that grass would be able to grow in a terraformed area, but the stones of the path/floor don’t just go away. The most likely reason these ruins were moved/terraformed would be to make the Statue of the Seven more visible, as this structure likely would have obstructed it. When it comes to the purpose of this structure I think it is highly likely that this was another residence, albeit likely a small one. The unmarked stone is once again a mystery.
Ruin #14:

Note: This ruin is separate from #15 due to distance even though they are likely related. Ruin #14 consists of an intact pillar plus the partial remains of a wall and (what was likely a) floor. Evidence that the exposed lower bricks may have been part of a floor can be seen around the edges of ruin. There the grass in the immediate area grows shorter (visible in the picture). This ruin was likely part of one of the largest structures in this complex (being ruins we of course cannot say this for certain) as it’s height is only comparable to Ruin #3. However this structure may have also been a victim of local terraforming. This puts forward an explanation for why plant life flourishes so much this close to the ruins of a rather large structure that almost certainly had a floor. Much like in Ruin #13 the area around this ruin exists at several different heights, with none of them really lining up with where the floor would have been located. This sort of terracing within the terrain has only been present around these ruins. Further evidence supporting this area being terraformed can be seen below in the section about Ruin #15.
Due to its size and location relatively close to some large path remains I feel this building was likely still a residential building of some sorts. The size may be indicative of being created for those in the upper part of the social order. If it wasn’t residential, then it would likely have been a public facility of some description.
Ruin #15:
https://preview.redd.it/m8kkhbp0k6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=2da6816e4b00d8b1593c716a679b254cdf5f1495
Ruin #15 consists of the remains of an arch (left), a pillar (center), and a column (right). The center ruin is being distinguished as a pillar rather than a column due to the flat brick at its very top that was likely used to support a roof. These ruins likely made up the entrance to the same structure that Ruin #14 was a part of. The arch appears to be quite deeply buried. Now there would be absolutely no reason to create an arch like this so close to a rock face as it wouldn’t serve any purpose. This further supports the theory that the area this structure occupied was subject to terraforming. But that only explains why the arch is against a rock face. I believe that these ruins are all that remains of the only multistory structure within this entire ruin complex. My train of thought is as follows. The flat base of Ruin #14 could well and easily be a floor, however it lines up very nicely with the pillar in the center of Ruin #15. The pillar in Ruin #15 likely once supported a roof as seen by the horizontal brick that sits at its very top. The 3 non-curved bricks of the arch would fit very nicely into this ceiling/floor as part of the second story wall. Ruin #15 being a multistory structure provides an explanation for why Ruins #14 and #15 both have load bearing pillars at two very different heights and, if true, would be quite an achievement compared to everything else present within the complex Finally the use of the column on the right could have been part something like of a covered entrance. Something not super far fetched considering the likely grandiose nature of this structure.
Ruin #16:
https://preview.redd.it/j7bojadnk6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=0ee7fd1807f1e1ba3f18d4f94c34e7bc227d120e
These ruins consist of the remains of an arch (left) and an unmarked stone column (right). It should be noted the arch remnant is partially sunken into solid stone. This could be more evidence towards terraforming but is more likely just a result of where the asset has been placed. Their proximity to some path remnants likely means that the arch once went over this path. The reason there might have been an arch going over this section of path is because the area lies further down the path already looks like its own separate area. An arch would help further reinforce this if it was used as such. The purpose of the unmarked stone once again remains unknown.
Ruin #17:
https://preview.redd.it/fpjn8lril6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=da329d5db9019d1c418c48da4867ed5c05fd083c
Ruin #17 consists of the fallen remains of half an arch. Because the base of this arch is still visible it allows for a very precise approximation of where the ruin originally stood. In this case the location was likely over the path remains present just out of view from the bottom of the photo. I believe this arch was once part of a gatehouse or similar structure. The reasoning behind this is the fact that this ruin (along with #19) is the westernmost ruin in this entire complex. But despite this the path still keeps going for quite a ways (not shown on map). For a path to continue for such a distance without any other signs of habitation would be unusual unless it was after an entrance/exit. I can’t say for certain that this ruin was a part of the same structure as Ruin #19 because Ruin #19 doesn’t really match up well with it.
Ruin #18:
https://preview.redd.it/xk3coxrwl6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=a3f508252dff23432711f82b5a5eda6c7e1f8e26
This ruin consists of a fallen entranceway/window (left) and the remains of a wall (right). I think it is likely that the entranceway fell inwards (towards the left) as it partially rests atop the ruined wall. For some reason this area bears no sign of a foundation in spite of the structure that obviously stood here. I believe this is a result of changes by a third party. The fallen entranceway is the growing place of two Windwheel Asters. A fallen entranceway is not exactly an ideal place for a flower that grows from soft winds. It might be fine in the later stages of its life when we find and pick them, but early life would be totally isolated from the wind. It would also be an area that would pool water after storms potentially drowning the plant. But with a bit of work from a person those issues could likely be solved. All in all it's not exactly a good place for one much less two flowers to grow. But they’re there anyway. Thus someone modifying the landscape to grow Windwheel Asters could be the reason as to why there is no sign of a floofoundation near ruins that clearly once formed a structure. The general location of the window/entranceway when it would have been standing along with its size compared to the wall has me believing that this structure was likely a small residence of some description.
Ruin #19:
https://preview.redd.it/2z187f1bm6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=ac15fa73c8132040a72abe7b81606b90a7532616
Ruin #19 is another inverted arch wall. It’s the first ruin in a while to show proper foundational evidence as there are some patches of barren soil present mostly around the smaller arch. Like most of the inverted arches this one is yet another mystery. It it likely at least related to the structure Ruin #17 was a part of. But it doesn’t seem to have been a part of it because the wall that would have been in line with Ruin #17 would go at best right into the inverted arch. This seems unlikely unless the inverted arch was originally holding something. But it was definitely part of something bigger than just this section as on its leftmost side a patch of barren ground roughly the width of the extant wall extends out beyond the ruin itself. If it is a part of the same structure as Ruin #17 then it was probably a part of the gatehouse/wall discussed in Ruin #17.
Ruin #20:
https://preview.redd.it/u6evckalm6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=b4bd30dda482b8cff1d1d7a792e24b7dfca287de
These ruins consist of a small section of an arch (left), the remains of a wall (center), and a fallen half of an archway (right). It should be noted off the bat that the stone sticking up from the ground in the right foreground is likely a part of the fallen archway. This archway is very useful in identifying the likely connection between these ruins and the structure they formed as there are no clear indications either a foundation or floor. I don’t think this structure was a house as standing both the arch remains back up makes for a rather thin structure that wouldn’t be very pleasant to live in. With these factors I really can’t say what this might have been used for. It was definitely a structure of some sort, but it doesn’t match anything else within the complex nor fit into any mold I can think of. It’s just kinda there.
Ruin #21:
https://preview.redd.it/pj9ae760n6ra1.png?width=512&format=png&auto=webp&s=6c2ce1ef005fcd51be022a4abdfd8bd06487cf1a
And for our final ruin, we have another column of unmarked stone. Because of course this massive analysis has to end on something that is totally unexplainable. It sits quite far from other structures, is nowhere near any path remains, and of course is unmarked stone. My only real guess is use as a marker by a later civilization then the one this analysis was looking at. It might not be but I wanna be done with this analysis so we’ll just say it is.
Alright then, 55 different images and 5,854 words later and we're finally done. This has certainly been an experience to write out. Some of it fun and some not. But in the end people seem to have enjoyed this throughout and I hope this last part feels like a fitting end. I will be taking a break before going into anything else as this last part was more of a job then something I was doing for fun compared to the other 3 parts. However when that time does come, I have two options to pick from and I'm interested to know if the people here have something they would like to see before the other. The options are A: The moon sisters and Tsurumi Island B: Analysis of Sal Vindagnyr's possible governmental and cultural ethic through the ruins present on Dragonspine
I am of course only asking and if you don't care about either what I do or if I post more that's alright.
But I am tired, so bye.

2023.04.01 04:19 throwawaytime1848 I'll be gone next week

Kinda just venting cause there's no one else to talk to - not going to burden anyone I care about with my personal bs.
I've wanted to die since middle school at least, and it's been a bit off and on. Don't have too much of a reason for it, just always had a deep underlying hatred for everything I am. My response to doing anything wrong in elementary school was to punch myself in the head until I couldn't anymore, so what can I expect I guess.
Never was abused or bullied, have minimal trauma that to even consider it so is disrespectful to the word. I'm a recent college grad with a great job, my educational and career goals are proceeding exceedingly well, lots of great and supportive friends, family that while sucky sometimes, is still around and is always there for me.
But, I just don't want to be here anymore. I hate my existence.
Every time I do something I dislike about myself it gets stronger and stronger, and usually I just push it off by thinking I deserve a more painful and suffering death than I'm capable of doing, but honestly I've always just been too much of a coward to do it. Hell I still am, resorting to something so low effort as a gun.
What's had me made up my mind is the words someone I really value said the other day. We went in a group to an island to camp, drink, and have a good time partying. Earlier on in the night, she made a statement that really resonated for me.
If someone's suicidal, they should just do it and get it over with.
She's gone through a lot, and has had her owns struggles with suicide. Her's actually well deserved, she's had a ton of trauma in her life, so much that her therapist has been like "Damn that's a lot of trauma. I'm surprised you're not dead yet."
Ofc she did make the quip "Or lose yourself in drugs and alcohol, like me!", right after. Everyone laughs.
Her words really felt right though. I've put myself through so much bullshit, and what's the point. I'm eventually just going to do it anyways. Might as well get it over with before I hurt even more people with it.
So a little while later, after thinking about things a bit, I just leave the group that was by the fire on the beach and go back to my hammock on the other side of the island. I order the gun that I've been meaning to get just to plink around with friends at the range so I don't have to keep borrowing, but have been putting off cause I have other purchasing priorities. Though, when I order it now it's entirely for the purpose of shooting myself.
I was thinking I was just going to head back to the group and enjoy the rest of the night after, but I just stare aimlessly for the rest of the night and into the next day in my hammock. Get up in the morning, eat something and hang for a little, then go back to the hammock and just do nothing until it's time to pack up and leave.
Kinda just been existing, waiting since then. Ignored some friends who wanted to hang out earlier in the week, started to feel like getting out today with a friend, but that fell through. I doubt I would have been a very fun person to be around tho, so probably for the best.
I'm putting off writing my personal statement for my grad school application by doing this rn too, should probably get back to it soon since it's due in a couple hours.
The gun should be getting to my LGS Monday. I'll have to drop in and pay the FFL + background check fee, and wait 3 days to pick it up since I never got around to snagging a cwp. Should have it by Friday.
I have an eye exam Friday too, think I'll still go. Would be rude to bail on an appointment, even if it's not going to make a difference for me anyways.
So yeah, sorry to anyone for the vent. Got a bit off the mark there at the end. I'm not going to TLDR because I don't feel like it.

The following letter was found on an abandoned research boat by a rescue team, after the father of two of the researchers reported the group missing. He claimed they had been gone almost a month longer than the team planned. When the rescue team finally managed to locate the missing vessel there was no sign of its crew, say for this single letter.

Fear is an inevitability that comes in almost endless forms. It can take the form of any person, place or thing depending on its target. Some people have many fears, and are likely to jump at their own shadow. Others believe they are completely immune to the idea of fear, until they are met with something that proves them to be completely wrong. Then there’s those who are enticed by their very fears, driven by them. Those who feel that cold shiver of the spine like a shot of adrenaline, and chase that high like a street junkie chasing down that last hit. I was always the third type of person, specifically the fear of the ocean. Ever since I could crawl, the deep blue unknown, along with the things that live beneath it, has been both my biggest fear, and truest love. This love quickly led me down the path of marine biology, specifically in the field of deep sea exploration. I even became quite adept at scuba diving, however my Thalassophobia prevented me from ever going too deep before the irrational thought of a 400 ft Leviathan emerging from below to swallow me whole, or the much more rational thought of a failed oxygen tank suddenly cutting off my air supply while half a mile underwater filled my mind and forced me to return to the surface.
Luckily it didn’t take me long to find a team that greatly complimented my shortcomings in the field. A small group of six including myself, who all met halfway through our second years of college. All extremely different, and likely would’ve never come together if it weren’t for one key similarity between us all, our love for the deep unknown. Even in this department our love for the ocean came from many different reasons. Marco and Malcolm were a set of twins born to a world renowned prize fisherman, and as a result spent the majority of their lives on the waters of the world, wrangling the largest and rarest fish the seven seas could offer. It didn’t take long until the two realized the challenge of fishing from the deck of a boat was too easy, and if they wanted a real challenge they would have to look deeper, much deeper. Rounding out our divers was Julia, who many including myself would say was born to spend her life under the ocean waters. This was a bit more than an expression too, seeing as how she was quite literally born on the waters, to a mother and father who had been a part of the U.S navy at the time.
The other half of our team consisted of those who preferred to study the ocean’s beauty and mystery from dryer views. Aside from myself who acted as the team's lead aquatic life researcher, there was Drew, our team's Horticulturist, or plant life expert, specifically studying how these underwater plants could be used to benefit humanity mainly in the field of medicine. Ironically he never intended to lead a career in marine biology rather botany. To be frank his real intentions were Marco, but after a few dates with him and his old man's fishing boat, the very boat that would become our traveling research station, he fell in love with the ocean, arguably more than Marco himself. Then last but not least we had Alexa who was the team’s technician, making sure all our tools and equipment ran at top shape. Much like me, Alexa had a fearful love of the ocean, specifically the fear of drowning due to not being a great swimmer. Despite her lack of swimming abilities, she never once turned down a chance to adventure the oceans, and with the six of us together, there was plenty of adventuring to be done. For well over a decade our little band sailed as far as the eye could see, studying and recording everything the seven seas could offer. From the depths of the Mariana Trench to the Twilight zone reefs of the Chagos Islands, if there was exploration to be done, we would be there. This thirst for exploration and discovery would eventually lead us to our most current expedition, studying the depths of Point Nemo, the furthest point a person could possibly get from civilization.
To study what kind of activity went on in a place so rarely visited by mankind was a dream to us all. The location was as natural as you could get, almost a completely other world, untouched by humans, and our minds raced at the possible discoveries to be found in such a place. The plan was simple enough. Sail out and anchor down in the Point for a week, two at the very most. The Diving crew would go under twice daily, once in the morning and once. They’d be equipped with both radios, and cameras directly linked to the boat's computer, so that any pictures or video may be viewed instantly by the research crew. For the first three days things were going great. We were able to study a vast array of fish, hydroids and invertebrates. Some of which I had never seen before in my life. We would all joke that this expedition would be the one to get our names in the history books…however our tones quickly changed during the first dive of day four.
Things started just as smoothly as the previous days, however no more than about 30 minutes in all three of our divers' cameras cut off simultaneously. Figuring it to be nothing more than some simple technical difficulties, we radioed them back up to the boat to hopefully fix the issue, and once they resurfaced our greatest fears since forming our little team had come true…we had lost a diver. The fact One less person had come up than the amount of people sent down was blatantly obvious. Far less obvious however, and far more concerning was the remaining two diver’s reactions, or rather lack thereof. It wasn’t 100% clear who for sure who was lost, as when we first met the returning divers on deck they were still completely covered in their gear. However based on the height and figure of the two it was clear that it was one of the twins who had gone missing. They quickly began to remove their masks and goggles to reveal it was in fact Malcolm to disappear, yet Marco and Julia had been acting like everything was normal.
The three of us who had remained on the boat desperately began asking what happened, and where Malcolm went. Asking if they had split up at any point, or if they saw him diverge from the group. Our desperate line of questioning was only met with confused looks from the two, before Marco said something that left all of us in complete silence. “Who the hell is Malcolm?” He asked in genuine confusion, the look on Julia’s face said she was wondering the same exact thing. We had spent what felt like hours trying to show them proof of Malcolm's existence, but no matter how many pictures we showed them, or how many stories we tried retelling, neither of them had even the slightest memory of him. They remembered every other detail about their lives, except for Malcolm. It was as if he had been completely wiped from their minds, like he never existed in the first place. What was even more concerning was the fact neither Marco or Julia seemed to care they had just lost their memories, even after being given undeniable proof. In fact the only thing they were concerned about was going back under. All they would say was how they needed to go back, and given the fact we had just lost a member of our team we probably would’ve let them in hopes of finding him, but they already made it obvious all their knowledge of our friend had disappeared with him, and even if we sent them down to look for Malcolm it was highly doubtful they’d even attempt searching. Along with that they…they just weren’t right. Their need to return to the ocean, and demands to send them back down were bordering on the lines of obsession and madness. We always tried to stay as logical as possible when out on these waters, but it was clear that whatever it was they found down there, it did something to them. So with great debate and a few yelling matches, we decided to refuse their request.
Instead we Opted to attempt and bring the cameras back up. Seeing as how they ran on a live feed, we figured getting it back up would lead us a step closer to finding Malcolm before it was too late. When the divers went down they all had full tanks of Oxygen. good for about 14 hours, but with how much time had already passed from them going under to the long argument over what the hell happened in the first place, we had to act quickly. Fortunately, Alexa was able to get the cameras running rather easily once we managed to get to work, Unfortunately…the sight it showed crushed any hope of saving Malcolm. Even with the camera's night vision it was extremely dark, but still gave off enough light to show it had been lying motionless on the ocean floor…Malcolm standing in front of it even more motionless than the camera filming him. He was stripped completely nude with his back facing the camera, just standing there without the slightest twitch. The sight was just as gut wrenching as it was mind boggling. It didn’t take a genius to realize he was dead, but how? How was he managing to still stand, let alone at the bottom of the ocean, and how did he manage to remove all his gear. While there were many unanswered questions, there was one fact we were aware of. His body was far too deep down to retrieve with any of the equipment we had, and even if we did have the proper equipment for such a dive, it’s not like the people trained to dive that deep were in a rush to find him in the first place. So after another long dispute we finally decided it was time to call off the expedition, and do our best to tell Marco and Malcolm's father about his sons passing as well as try our best to explain his remaining sons sudden acute memory loss…However we’d never get the chance to.
Shortly after finally deciding it was time to leave, we made the horrifying discovery that our engine was no longer running, In fact none of the boat's equipment was…including our radio. We were little more than a giant plant of driftwood, stuck floating in complete isolation with no our only connection to the outside world now severed. What made the situation worse was that while Drew, Alexa and I were sent into a reasonable panic over this new development, Marco and Julia had slipped farther into whatever madness had taken hold of them. They were absolutely elated, claiming this was a sign. That “it” was calling them back. That “it” needed them. They rather quickly got violent with us when we refused to let them suit back up, it got to the point we eventually had to restrain the two and lock them in the closest storage closet we could manage to force them into, only for them to immediately start banging and clawing at the door in desperation. Repeating “It needs us!”. Just over and over again.
After managing to get the situation under control, the three of us who’s sanity were still relatively intact gathered our bearings as best we could, and began trying to formulate a plan to fix the boat.
Eventually Drew said he would go under and check to see if perhaps something had got caught in the motor. At first Alexa and I strongly objected to that, or any other plan involving going into the water, but he was quick to point out we had very little options. He also pointed out that out of the three of us, he was the one who knew the boat best. He was used to helping Marco with maintenance, along with taking it out with him far more frequently than either Alexa or I did. He also reassured us that he was going no more than four feet deep, and the waters were more than clear enough to see him at all times. Eventually we gave in and agreed to the plan. While still very on edge his points were valid and logical, and that’s where we messed up, giving into logic. After everything we’ve seen we should have known logic didn’t apply to this place. By all accounts Drew should’ve been right. With how deep he said he’d be going coupled with how clear the water was we should have been able to see him at all times, but we couldn’t. Hell he didn’t even reach the depth he said he’d be going, because the moment, the very moment his head went under and he was fully submerged…gone. Vanished within a blink of an eye and lost to the sea like his brother in law before him. It was so sudden I didn’t even know how to react. I wanted to scream, or panic, but my brain was too busy trying to process what I had just seen that I simply locked up, frozen in a stasis bubble of confusion and fear. Alexa didn’t say anything either, and judging by her lack of reaction I could only assume she was in a similar state, which meant neither of us could react in time for what happened next.
Losing another friend, this one right before our eyes, caused us to neglect the fact we had two others locked away. Two others who have been desperately trying to get out. Only for a moment, but that was all they needed, as I was brought back to reality by the sounds of snapping wood followed by a large crash. I quickly turned around to see Marco and Julia had busted down the storage door, and were quickly making a break to the side of the boat, both yelling out how “it’s” calling them in near unison. They didn’t even bother to grab their scuba gear still laying out in the middle of the deck, only wanting to return to the depths. By the time I fully came to they were already well past halfway to going overboard, but it seemed Alexa had regained control of herself before myself, as I saw her make a break towards them just moments before I could follow. She jumped in front of the two pleading for them to stop, yelling how Drew was gone, but the divers didn’t slow for a second, treating her like nothing more than a bug on the windshield and…dear god…they took her with them.
I reached out in an attempt to pull Alexa back, only to graze her fingertips while she was sent careening back as Julia and Marco sent her overboard along with themselves. I slowly looked over the rail of the boat to see more friends lost to the seas, swallowed by a splash of rippling water and down into the cold dark depths. I slowly began to break down, curling into a ball as I began to sob. My whole team, my closest friends all taken from me by the very thing we dedicated our lives to. I was completely alone now, with no way of contacting civilization. After an unclear amount of time I finally managed to pull myself together and get back to my feet. I quickly got to work on attempting to repair the radio in hopes of finding rescue. Despite the vast array of emotions flooding through me I stayed focused on survival, reasoning to myself that the worst had already happened, but I was so wrong, because the worst came with the nightfall.
I was sitting in the captain’s quarters still trying to revive the radio when I finally heard another voice. It didn’t come from the radio, in fact it wasn’t clear where it came from, almost as if it was echoing around me from all directions. One thing was clear though, and that’s whose voice it was speaking to me…Malcolm. He was calling to me, beckoning me to enter the waters. Soon after him another voice followed to beckon me into the depths, this one belonging to Julia, followed by Marco, then Drew, and finally Alex. All five called out to me, pleading for me to join them. Not long after the voices of my lost friends began bombarding me, the room was filled with a dim glow. I slowly turned around to see the computer linked to Malcolm’s camera had suddenly booted back up, however it displayed a much different Scene this time. Malcolm was now facing the camera, his dead eyes staring down the lens with a large cartoonish smile painted across his face. This time…this time however he wasn’t alone. Now he was joined by his brother, along with the other three members of our team, all standing hand in hand as they look into the camera, a similar twisted grin as Malcolm's spread across their faces, as if they were watching me. Their voices continued to fill the room as they watched me through the camera, their uncanny smiles never wavering.
This continued until sunrise, when their voices left with the moon, and the computer abruptly turned itself back off. At first I had convinced myself it was a nightmare, or a stress induced hallucination, but that was soon proven false once night time returned, and my friends returned with it. That was 12 days ago, and they haven’t stopped. Every night, the moment the sunlight fades they come back like clockwork, begging me to join them. I’ve now officially run out of clean water, food, and any hope that rescue will ever come. The sun is setting now, and I know they are soon to come. I don’t think I can handle another night, so I’ve decided to write this, as a warning to whoever may be unfortunate to find this boat, and then, when the moon rises, I’ll accept their offer, and I’ll embrace the ocean’s depths.

2023.04.01 04:12 BrownTown427 Booking The AEW Women's Title Until Double Or Nothing 2024: Part I

Since becoming AEW Women’s Champion at Full Gear in 2022, Jamie Hayter has proven that she can more than hold her own as the figure everyone sets out to dethrone in the women’s division. With successful title defenses against Hikaru Shida and in the triple threat at Revolution against Saraya and Ruby Soho, all the critics have been forced to drink the Hayterade up to this point. However, with more challengers approaching, what will the future look like for the title? Let’s find out…

Dynamite (4/5/23):
With the start of the second hour of Dynamite, Jamie Hayter and Britt Baker make their way to the ring, the crowd cheering them on as they get ready to speak:
Britt Baker: “Long Island! Look, I could give some long talk about how we’re sick of the so-called Outcasts, but you all know that by now. And I could talk about how much it feels great seeing Adam (Cole) back in action, but I don’t need to: everyone knows we’re the Undisputed couple of this company. So how about we hear from the incredible AEW Women’s Champion, and my good friend… Jamie Hayter!”
Britt hands the mic to Jamie as the crowd gives a quick positive reaction.
Jamie Hayter: “As I sit here the best damn female talent on the roster today, I could easily talk about the now. But I want to talk about something different: I want to talk about the past. Throughout my entire career, I’ve been underestimated. People thought I wouldn’t make it in this industry. People looked at me as nothing more than Britt Baker’s lackey. And even still, people like the Outcasts have looked at me as being undeserving of holding this championship. Well I’ll be damned if I let that define my career as a wrestler. I’m going to defend this title next week, and I want a strong opponent. Another opportunity to prove I can step up to anyone and come out unscathed on the other end…”
Before she can go on though, she gets interrupted by…SERENA DEEB! After being on hiatus with an injury for several months, the veteran is back, and upon entering the ring, she looks the champion up and down. She briefly glances at Britt as well, before getting the chance to speak her mind:
Serena Deeb: “Jamie, I’ll be honest: you’re right. I was someone backstage who didn’t respect you early on. Since then, you’ve gotten out of Britt’s shadow, and now you’re a champion. But the issue is…I want to be champion too. Since joining AEW, I have yet to hold that belt, and I’ve had enough of sitting idly by and watching opportunities slip me by. So next week, you want a match against a strong opponent? You’re on.”
And with that, the title match is set for seven days from now, two figures confident in their abilities set to test each other’s limits. The only question is: will it be a clean fight? Or will certain other people decide to screw things up?

Dynamite (4/12/23): Serena Deeb vs. Jamie Hayter (c) - AEW Women’s Championship
To answer that question from before, the ending result is… a perfectly clean match! In her first match back from injury, the veteran Deeb looks to take the younger champion down a peg. She succeeds early on, getting control and slowing the pace of the match down in her favor. However, despite Deeb getting in some solid work on the leg of Hayter and even managing to apply the devastating Serenity Lock, Hayter fights valiantly back. She escapes the hold by clawing her way to the bottom rope, and shortly thereafter, decapitates Deeb with her signature Hayterade Lariat to seal things.
Jamie Hayter def. Serena Deeb via pinfall to retain the AEW Women’s Title (11:03)
After the match, Hayter indulges in the standard post-match victory celebration, but it’s soon interrupted by the Outcasts appearing over the titantron. At their feet is the weakened body of a particular women’s competitor… Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter’s friend Rebel! Saraya then starts speaking into the camera:
Saraya: “It’s a shame this had to happen to someone like Rebel. She did nothing wrong, if only she had friends that could’ve backed her up at a time like this…oh wait. Wasn’t she one of your friends? She thought so. But you two left her when she was no longer of use to you. For as many bad things as you say about us, we at least stick together. We’re trying to change this landscape for the better, but you keep trying to keep it down as a complete shithole. So enjoy that title for now, Hayter, but soon enough, it’ll belong to the Outcasts.”

Dynamite (4/19/23):
After a solid match between Toni Storm and Hikaru Shida ends with Storm picking up the victory (albeit by questionable measures after a cheap shot by Soho to Shida allowing Toni to get a surprise roll-up), Storm starts cutting a promo on behalf of the Outcasts:
Toni Storm: “Another victory for us, but that’s not surprising. We’re used to being successful after all, used to having millions upon millions of people clamoring for our autographs. But as for the current “champion”? She’s irrelevant. She thinks she’s special because she’s rehashing the open challenge concept, but where is she tonight? Sitting on her ass, not putting in work while I just beat a former champion. But where’s my title opportunity? I never got my rematch against Hayter, I deserve…”
It’s there that Hayter inevitably interrupts, standing at the top of the entrance ramp with an amused expression on her face and a mic in tow:
Jamie Hayter: “Really, Toni? Playing the popularity card, are we? As much as I detest Saraya, she at least was a focal point of women’s wrestling for years. And Ruby got to shine in the women’s tag division for a while. But you? You’re more known for getting pies repeatedly thrown in your face in the other company than for, you know, actual wrestling ability. But hey, I’ll throw you a bone. You did beat Shida tonight, so I’ll gladly fight you… and we can do it in two days on Rampage! See you soon.”

Rampage (4/21/23): Toni Storm vs. Jamie Hayter (c) III - AEW Women’s Championship
With these two having fought twice before in singles competition, each woman having taken one win apiece, it’s time to determine who wins the best of three and gets the AEW Women’s Title. Hayter starts off the match hot, taking the fight right to Storm, but it’s inevitable that the Outcasts and Britt will eventually come to blows at ringside. Hayter helps Britt take Saraya and Soho out momentarily, but upon getting back in the ring, Storm blindsides her, allowing her to get the advantage. However, she can’t seal the deal in the end, as with the ref turning a blind eye to the rest of the altercations on the outside, Hayter eventually regains control, out-wrestling Storm en route to hitting the Hayterade.
Jamie Hayter def. Toni Storm via pinfall to retain the AEW Women’s Title (13:37)
Unfortunately, after the match, Saraya and Soho attack Jamie from behind. Britt tries to help her friend, and she’s successful momentarily, taking Soho down and laying in shots against Saraya. But Ruby gets back in the ring, blasting Baker with a steel chair and allowing the Outcasts the opportunity to just dismantle Hayter and Britt. However, instead of destroying Jamie, they opt for her to have to watch the beating they inflict on her friend instead, with Saraya, Ruby, and Toni each taking turns hitting the chair on Britt’s arm and leaving it majorly injured. The segment ends with medical officials checking on Baker, while Hayter is left furious at the warfare being inflicted upon them.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

With Britt Baker being put on the shelf in kayfabe, Hayter would have to go at it the next several weeks on her own. Unfortunately, after another successful title defense against Anna Jay, Hayter would once again be blindsided by the Outcasts, with Ruby holding up the title to end the segment, signifying that she’s gonna be the one to challenge Hayter for the championship next. And though things aren’t looking good for Jamie, she has one trick up her sleeve that might work if all goes well…

Rampage (5/12/23): Hikaru Shida Pre-Taped Backstage Interview
As Shida is wrapping up a quick discussion with Tony Schiavone, Jamie Hayter would walk in. Shida immediately gets defensive, looking ready to fight if things escalate, but Hayter shows no interest in that. Instead, she says…
JH: “Shida, I’m not here to fight. I know we don’t have the best history between us, and I’m not looking to necessarily change that relationship. But as of late, the Outcasts have been wreaking havoc over the entire women’s division. And sure, they’ve mostly been sticking to making the lives of younger talents miserable, but who’s to say they won’t target you next? Saraya and Toni abandoned you once. And I know you want this title back more than anything, so when you try and get it, they’ll stop at nothing to take you out of the picture. So what I’m saying is, if you really want to make a big step towards getting gold back around your waist…I’d recommend making the first move against them…”
And with that, Hayter exits the room, Shida still looking annoyed but being left with something to ponder as well.

Dynamite (5/17/23): Athena vs. Jamie Hayter (c) - AEW Women’s Championship
In Hayter’s final title defense before Double or Nothing, she has to go up against the dynamic Athena. The former Ember Moon is able to put up a strong showing, using her combination of agility and solid strength to keep Jamie reeling throughout a good portion of the contest. But in the end, Hayter once again proves why she’s been champion for the better part of six months, eventually catching Athena as she goes for an Eclipse and instead transitioning it straight into the Hayterade Ripcord Lariat.
Jamie Hayter def. Athena to retain the AEW Women’s Championship (13:33)
After the match, the Outcasts start making their way to the ring, seemingly bent on once again destroying Hayter. But as Athena gets up, it initially looks like she might help Jamie, standing side-by-side with her as Saraya briefly holds Ruby and Toni back. However, Athena decides it’s not worth it fighting this battle, exiting the ring and walking by the Outcasts, not giving them a second glance. Saraya smirks at this, but just as it looks like Hayter is done for…
OUT COMES HIKARU SHIDA WITH A KENDO STICK! She starts battering the backs of Saraya, Storm, and Soho, leaving them all in a heap outside the ring while Jamie just looks on, a look of surprise on her face. Sure, she pitched the idea to Shida, but she didn’t actually think it was gonna work… And once Shida is through with the assault, she glances back up towards Jamie, her eyes quickly shifting towards the title, before walking out, uninterested in doing anything else at that given moment.

Double Or Nothing (5/28/23): Ruby Soho vs. Jamie Hayter (c) - AEW Women’s Championship
Although Jamie Hayter may have beaten both Saraya and Ruby Soho at Revolution, the singles match with Soho is still going to be quite the challenge, possibly even more than the triple threat. In addition to facing a talented in-ring competitor, Saraya and Storm stand at ringside, and it’s only inevitable they’ll get involved at some point. Despite these odds, Hayter fights Soho well, doing her best to ignore Ruby’s partners. However, after a move leaves both women down, the ref checking on Hayter quickly, Saraya passes Ruby a pair of brass knuckles! Hayter doesn’t see this, and while she gets Ruby in position for the Hayterade, Soho ducks it, leveling Jamie in the back of the neck with the brass-covered knuckles at an angle the ref can’t see! Hayter collapses into the corner, the only thing keeping her upright. This gives Ruby the chance she needs, pulling Jamie towards her and taking her out with the No Future Pelé Kick.
Ruby Soho def. Jamie Hayter via pinfall to win the AEW Women’s Championship
And just like that, we have a new AEW Women’s Champion, Ruby Soho having won the top prize in the women’s division and giving the Outcasts even more power than they already had. But a lot can change in a matter of merely a few days…

Dynamite (5/31/23): Outcasts Title Celebration
Following Ruby’s title victory, the Outcasts decide that it’s only fitting they tell everyone what they were dreading to hear:
Saraya: “WE TOLD YOU SO! That’s right, to all these idiot fans with the attention span of gnats, to biased commentators like the so-called “legend” Tony Schiavone, to all of those weak-minded women’s wrestlers backstage… WE TOLD YOU SO! When push came to shove, Hayter simply didn’t have the ability nor the experience to beat a superior talent like Ruby Soho. Ruby was disrespected by people like Britt Baker when she first came in, and now, she helped take her out of commission AND steal Britt’s best friend’s title. Sounds like a beautiful comeback story to me.”
Saraya then hands the mic to Soho, allowing the champ to get in a few words:
Ruby Soho: “It was a few weeks ago that Jamie talked about herself being underestimated, but she doesn’t know the damn meaning of the word. She’s been a spoiled bitch her entire time in AEW, and she never deserved to win that title in the first place. But me. I deserve this shit more than any of you people could ever know. I was always overshadowed. Hell, when I was released, I may as well have had my stuff thrown in a trash bag, that’s how little I was valued… oh wait, that was some other overrated, washed-up legend. Regardless, I’m at the top now. And if I could quote a wise man or wizard or whatever he identifies as now: disrespecting me or Toni or Saraya is a stupid idea from bad creative!”
It’s not longer after this that Jamie Hayer interrupts, looking quite agitated. Before she can speak her mind though, Toni grabs the mic:
Toni Storm: “What do you think you’re doing out here, Jamie? You lost to Ruby last night, and that puts you right at the back of the line where you belong. If I had to wait months to get my title rematch, you’re not getting it so soon either.”
Jamie Hayter: “Oh shut your mouth Toni, I just beat you a few weeks ago, don’t make me have to do it again. And I didn’t come out here to demand a title match: no, I wanted to make an announcement. The beauty of healing from an injury is that it seems to happen more quickly when you have a motivation behind it. And in the case of this person, their motivation is wanting to kick your asses! Everyone, please welcome back…BRITT BAKER!
The crowd erupts as the Doctor makes her return to AEW programming, arm looking to be fully healed. She walks out with two steel chairs in tow, handing one to Hayter, and the pair march to the ring, ready to dismantle the Outcasts. Saraya, Storm, and Soho initially hold their ground, but after each of them receives a couple of shots apiece, they’re forced to retreat.

From there, Britt Baker gets back into the fold of things, winning her return to competition match and making it clear her sights are fully set on vanquishing both the Outcasts as a whole and Soho especially to prevent their reign of terror. Ruby has no interest in that singles match happening anytime soon, knowing what’s happened in previous singles encounters with her and Britt. However, with Baker rising the ranks, it looks like a tag match will help decide whether Britt will get the opportunity or not. But she won’t be partnering with Hayter: instead, the match will be…

Dynamite (6/28/23): Saraya and Chris Jericho vs. Britt Baker and Adam Cole - Mixed Tag Team Match
With the Outcasts having paid homage to one of Chris Jericho’s past AEW quotes, they would also look to get him on their good side. This would later see Jericho even confront Baker after one of her matches, and with Jericho Appreciation Society having been feuding with Adam Cole recently, things get tense quickly. After an insufferable comment from Jericho, Baker slaps Chris, and while he looks agitated, he holds himself back, telling her that she’ll regret that decision.
And getting to the match itself, while Baker was hoping that Ruby would be the one teaming with Chris, Saraya opts to instead, knowing that she’s beaten Britt in singles competition before and can do it again. Despite Saraya and Jericho having never teamed before, they show good chemistry together, making frequent tags. And while it looks as though things are remaining steady, the match suddenly takes a wild turn. After Jericho hits a Lionsault on Cole, he goes for the cover, but Britt breaks up the pin. And in response…JERICHO HITS HER WITH THE JUDAS EFFECT! The commentators are horrified, and Cole is initially in shock, but that shock soon turns to outright anger. He unleashes himself on Jericho, absolutely destroying him with shots before not only nailing the Panama Sunrise, but a Last Shot as well for good measure to put an end to his feud with Chris and the rest of Jericho Appreciation Society.

Fyter Fest Night One: Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho (c) - AEW Women’s Championship
With her being a part of the winning team, Britt Baker receives the shot at Ruby she wanted, and she knows she has to make the most of it. She starts off the match strong, looking like what Adam Cole was doing to Jericho at the end of the match with repeated, vicious shots forcing Soho into the corner and then having to crawl away out of desperation. However, Ruby knew to expect a very difficult challenge, bringing her own A-game in the process for the rest of the match. At the end, Soho nails not one, but two consecutive No Future Pele kicks in succession, ultimately picking up the win.
Ruby Soho def. Britt Baker via pinfall to retain the AEW Women’s Championship (14:20)

Fight For The Fallen: Jamie Hayter vs. Ruby Soho (c) - Unsanctioned Match for the AEW Women’s Championship
Unfortunately for Soho, just a few weeks later, she has another tough test, this time having to fight Jamie in a rematch after Hayter goes on a multi-match win streak to earn the opportunity. And she manages to get in Soho’s ear about the potential benefits of having No DQ for their title match, who likely thinks that the Outcasts can just help her win if worse comes to worst.
However, before the match can begin, Britt Baker, with Rebel back by her side, fights Saraya and Storm into the back, leading to a completely even playing field. It’s a hard-hitting and violent affair, with each woman bringing out multiple weapons to use at their disposal. Hayter has a disturbing amount of fun with repeated kendo stick shots to Soho’s back, while Ruby pulls out a page from her former partner Liv Morgan’s book and hits Hayter with a Senton through a table. But at the end, as both women are down, out comes…Athena?!?!
Athena gets into the ring, staring down Soho. But as Hayter gets up behind her…ATHENA ROCKS JAMIE WITH A FOREARM! The commentators are stunned as Soho smirks, quickly moving back to Hayter to capitalize on Athena’s decision and nailing the Pele Kick to once again retain her title, albeit under dubious circumstances.

And while Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter are now firmly in the rear-view mirror, the Outcasts look towards the future. Or maybe, it’s the future that’s coming to them…

Dynamite (8/16/23):
Following a Toni Storm singles win, Ruby gets on the mic, mockingly asking who’s next. Everyone in AEW is either scared of them, already gotten beaten by them, or just not worthy of being in the ring with them. It would take someone from out of this world just to have a shot at beating them…
OUT COMES THE RETURNING KRIS STATLANDER! They wanted someone from out of this world, and on cue, out comes the Galaxy’s Greatest Alien. She gets into the ring, completely ignoring Saraya and Toni and immediately just getting in Soho’s face, already staking her claim to be the next challenger.

Over the coming weeks, Statlander more than showcases why she has what it takes. She wins in her return matches, including a singles victory against Toni Storm, and in promos, she talks about the hatred she feels towards the group. The idea of them merely coming together just because they were better in their old company? They don’t care about improving themselves, they care about wrecking the lives of everyone who actually respects this industry. And now that she’s healthy, she’s ready to help AEW out by taking Ruby’s title at All Out. But it’s also worth mentioning, there’s another high-stakes women’s match at the PPV as well…

All Out Match #1: Women’s Casino Ladder Match
With the men having had a casino ladder match for years now, it’s only fitting that the women would have one as well. And of course, the match gets to make its debut at one of the biggest AEW events of the year. The match kicks off with Athena and Jamie Hayter, both looking to tear each other limb from limb after Athena cost Hayter the title and joined the Outcasts. From there, Toni Storm, Saraya, Serena Deeb, Britt Baker, Taya Valkyrie, and the Joker Hikaru Shida enter the fray, leading to some interesting sequences. Deeb and Shida brawl early on, and the numbers game of the Outcasts slowly comes into play as the match progresses. However, as Baker and Hayter stand side-by-side, Shida too joins them, and a three-on-three person brawl between them and the Outcasts ensues. But in the end, Shida and Saraya are at the top of the ladder, dueling it out, but the woman who kicks the other off and grabs the chip is…HIKARU SHIDA! SHE’S CLINCHED A FUTURE WOMEN’S TITLE OPPORTUNITY!

All Out Match #2: Kris Statlander vs. Ruby Soho (c) - AEW Women’s Championship
And in another important match, we’ve got Ruby Soho’s possibly hardest match to date. Despite having been sidelined with injury for most of the year, Statlander doesn’t look as though she’s missed a step, keeping Soho on her heels with fast-paced action. However, as Soho gets damaged more and more, she gets more desperate, and realizes what she needs to do to win. She begins targeting the previously torn ACL of Statlander, using chop blocks to weaken the knee area. And while Statlander is able to initially survive this, the wear-and-tear of the match alongside that damage eventually causes her to falter, paving the way for Soho to hit the No Future and just barely survive in a tough battle.
