The title sounds worse than intended, believe me there. It's a little harsh. I suppose I could of phrased it in a nicer way. But how does one go about saying something like this? It's a sensitive topic. One that could leave one, if not both of us hurt. And that's the last thing I want. To hurt you. But I can't deny it any longer. I suppose I should just say it. Get it out of the way.
I don't think I want to be your friend anymore.
No. I want to be something else to you entirely. I want you and I, to become one. Together. I want you to be mine, and for me to be yours. I want you to love me in a way that a friend can't. I want you to love me the way I love you. Can't you see it? Can't you hear it in my voice?
Everytime your name graces my lips, or your presence invades my thoughts I'm left speechless. Your smile. Your laugh. Oh your laugh, which has become one of my favourite sounds. I'm always trying to make you laugh these days. Hearing it just lights me up from the inside out, fills me with a pride I've never known.
Just being around you, fills me with a joy strong enough to be felt by my scarred and jaded heart, numbed by years of constant abuse and depression. You cause smiles so wide my face hurts, reddened cheeks and bitten lips. You make me nervous in a way that's almost indescribable, my heart beating faster than I knew possible.
Every second with you is pure bliss. You're my favourite everything. You seem to of climbed behind my eyes and built yourself a shrine, curiously traversing your way through my brain. My whole universe is singing for you. 'I love you, I love you so much!' Although, i must admit it is rather off key, and tuneless. My song falls on deafened ears however, which may be for the best. My love is not for the weak. I wouldn't want to overwhelm you with affection. Although, I can feel us growing closer.
More time spent together. More talks, more little gestures. I know you're only being friendly. I should probably stop projecting my own feelings onto you. Sometimes I can even convince myself you feel the same way. But unfortunately, it's a double edged sword. I find it just as easy to convince myself you hate me.
You haven't been saying 'I love you' as often as you usually do. You used to say it every time I said it. Everytime we said goodbye. But now you don't. But I know you still love me. At least I think you do. You've just started to show it instead of telling me. Showing it through gifts and quality time, secret sharing and remembering.
There's been times I've said I've wanted something, just randomly really. I could be talking absentmindedly as we get on with things, and then I'll mention something randomly. "Oh I wish I had [blank]" "Hmm.. well maybe next time I'll get [Blank]" And the next thing I know you're surprising me with the very thing I mentioned. It makes me feel special. Not that you NEED to do that. Your companionship is enough for me. It's all I think I'll ever need.
You remember almost everything I tell you, often reminding me of what I've said myself. I love you so much. But it's strange. Not only do I love you, but I feel as of I'm starting to care more about myself in the process. I want to look pretty for you. And in order to look pretty, one must feel pretty also. Sometimes I find myself resisting the urge to flirt with you. Not that I'd be very good at it.
Flirting isn't something I have much experience in. You're my first crush. My first love. I wonder how you'd feel if you knew that?
Now I know that I myself, am not very much to look at. I'm not very interesting either. I prefer to keep to myself, getting lost in a world of books and videogames, spending my days painting and daydreaming of adventure. I'm pretty basic, in the way all it really takes to keep me satisfied is a long stroll with good company. I'm like an oversized, glorified dog, but twice as affectionate. Once you get close to me, that's it. I'll love you forever.
I can't offer you much I'm afraid. I don't have all that much. But I can offer you my love and loyalty, my companionship and my affection. I can take you on my adventures, write you poems and paint you whatever your heart desires. I'll bake you whatever you're craving, and keep you safe. Anyone who crosses you best watch out. 2) functional pen storage?.. a magic magnetic connection is good for a quick storage. But transportation requires buying a folio... Thats proof you know your decision to go with form is lacking function... Maybe maybe? Make the pen the size of the remarkablely useless pencil and make a storage space that actually holds the pen in place with a mechanical detent?.. already on my remarkably useless i have had to wrap tape around the pencil just below the opening for the hole of the folios pen holder because the pencil falls right out otherwise..
3) Keyboard... Great idea. But maybe more energy into designing one capable of being protected when it's connected.. both the remarkably useless and the tab C have keyboards but the remarkably useless has you beat books. They don't lay the keys on the back of your truck with a sheet of aluminum tread plate or on the metal decking or on the table at the restaurant..with their origomi folding it lays on the back of the screen protector.. they have tab c beat. So... Tab c. Copy that idea and make another keyboard option that provides the ip69 ratings and creates the mill spec protection. (100% when closed.) And (higher percentage when open to protect from every day life fixing thing.

Are there any works that properly address LDS epistemology? I've read a few works related to it but none that directly systematize it. And I don’t purely mean doctrine, but that and something more general, like the LDS approach to truth and knowledge. I've included below a few items I've looked into. ~ ~ ~
There was a response to a characterization of Mormon historiography as postmodern, which Joseph Spencer, who has a PhD in philosophy and works in the religion dept at BYU, had repudiated. He describes the church as antifoundationalist but still foundational in not embracing the nihilism of postmodernity and in its attempt at an alternative ‘Enlightement’ or ‘modernity’. Joseph also went on to describe the viability of phenomenology as a model, adding the following: “Among the philosophical projects that can be called attempts to forge a second modernity, one might perhaps class phenomenology. I was initially impressed with This Is My Doctrine by Charles Harrell, but found his use of historic sources too esoteric to give an effective overview of how those in the past had interpreted scripture, as Matthew Bowman noted in his review. ~ ~ ~
Britney Hartley, author of Mormon Philosophy Simplified, claims that the church doesn't do epistemology. She described the approach to knowledge as fundamentally existentialist and the individual's experience of the phenomenal world, with spiritual faculties as ways of generating phenomenal experiences of what Kant calls the noumenal world. She adds that the LDS approach is more about seeking light which increases our capacity for knowledge instead of seeking knowledge itself. ~ ~ ~
I listened to a few episodes of a podcast by Dan Wotherspoon who has a PhD in philosophy, notably one titled “More on ‘What is truth?’” He discusses 3 definitions of truth in relation to the church, and a listener came on and presented alternative ways to interpret the phrase "the church is true" beyond 3 definitions of epistemic truth, like true to its members (he specifically said, I might not believe my wife will get out of bed when she says she will, but I think she is still ‘true’ to me), and then there is being true to its mission of salvation and exaltation. ~ ~ ~
There was also an article by Michael Goodman describing models of doctrine members had made. One statement the author makes is, “These scriptures and comments highlight the relational nature of truth in Latter-day Saint thought. “Truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come” (D&C 93:24), but only God knows this truth perfectly, and hence he is the only sure source of truth. Accordingly, it is only in compliance with and in relationship to God that man can come to know all truth. A philosopher who is a Latter-day Saint explained that “among the main original senses of ‘truth’ was ‘troth’—a pledge or covenant of faithfulness made uprightly and without deceit. . . . It is in the spirit of these ancient etymologies that Latter-day Saints believe that to walk in truth is to keep one’s commitments to follow Christ’s way uprightly.” To know truth according to these statements is to know God. For this reason, Church members often believe the surest source of truth comes by way of direct communication (revelation) from God.”
I recall reading that phenomenology characterizes truth as relational, a sort of emergent property of experience. Is there something to this? ~ ~ ~
These are some sources I might look into, but are you aware of any others? Any thoughts on the legitimacy of the above views?

Hey!
I’m trying to get a 1960’s sunshine pop/early British Invasion feel. This song is through the perspective of a stray dog.
My friend said all my songs sound kinda the same due to my limited strumming patterns, so as a challenge I decided to try to make a more fleshed out song!
I was wondering if anyone here had ideas for how to convey that 60’s pop sound? Little frills/recording tricks. But any feedback is welcome. My friend said I should ditch the strumming in this one all together and just play whole or arpeggiated chords, but I think the strumming adds some momentum. Does anything sound too overpowering?
This song is very much still in progress, I will be re-recording the vocals (to sing more in tune lol) and add/tweak as I go. I will probably choose less reverby effects. I only have an acoustic guitar to work with and I can hardly play it, so reverb is a good coverup but hey! I’m having fun.

SCP-1048 is a small teddy bear, which appears to be sapient and capable of movement by its own accord. Initially, this sapience was believed to be the extent of SCP-1048's anomalous qualities, and SCP-1048 was allowed free rein to roam the site it was contained at due to its seemingly amicable and affectionate nature. He now sells his work to support the civilians in his city and the warriors from it, who are mostly fighting in and around Bakhmut. In addition to his ongoing painted shells initiative, he's currently selling a limited edition series of engraved knives signed by the artist. Also, check out his latest post and DM him if anything catches your eye! (What I wouldn't give to be able to afford one of his ~~boomsticks~~ boomboxes....)
So far, Ukraine, you've helped him raise over $16,000 for Humanity, which provides humanitarian aid and evacuation in Nova Kakhovka and Kherson, and for Nova Kakhovka's warriors at the front. Here's a great example of what he's doing with the funds you help him raise.

2023.05.29 03:44 Hour_Savings146 This is my little mermaid review. I'm not a professional critic, but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night.

I'm also a regular listener to the pop culture crisis podcast and occasional superchatter.
So friday night I bought a ticket to the super mario movie and then walked into a showing of the little mermaid. It was hot garbage. The first third of the movie is the worst. It's literally dark and gloomy. The characters are either reenacting the witty banter from the scenes in the animated movie with no emotion or spouting new cringe inducing dialog pulled right from a gender studies graduate's thesis. The best part of the opening act is where the crew of prince Eric's ship is singing a sea shanty.
They butcher part of your world by changing the lyrics to be more girl powery. They did however knock ot out of the park with under the sea. They actually used the computer animation to make an animated scene. The music slapped, the guy voicing sabastion sounded like he was the time of his life and it transfered to the audience. If only the little merperson of color hadn't chimed in occasional it would have been perfect. She was not bringing the same energy as sabastion.
I was looking forward to the part of the movie where Ariel couldn't talk. But after trading her voice and arriving on land she had 2 new songs sung by her inernal monolog. And those songs were hot garbage. And the worst part about that is hally baily actually did pretty good conveying emotion and intent without speaking. They did a servicable job with kiss the girl.
The new side characters stole the show for the on land segments. They subtlety plan and manipulate under the prince's nose, and have original cheeky/witty banter that they deviver perfectly. After a solid 7 minutes of competent film making they have the climax of the film where Arial stears the ship into Ursula instead of Eric because shes a strong independent merperson of color who don't need no man.
Then there are 3 diffrent endings because this movie is an hour longer than the original. The first ending is actually great. Ariel goes back to the ocean and Eric stays on land. Eric and Arier both have dialog about how foolish they were being. It was actually close to the ending of the Hans Christian Anderson novel. Then triton sprinkles some glitter on Ariel and and she gets legs and we get the second ending. An extended wedding scene, on land, with Eric's mother gushing about how happy she is to have a progressive open minded son who is willing to marry a merperson of colol, and how wrong she was to tell him not to fool with merpeople of any color. Then the last and worst ending occurs as eric and Ariel are rowing out to a ship as they are about to go on tour as funkyfish and the Ivory keys band. King Triton intercepts them and gives a humiliating apology about for how old and stupid he was, and thanked his daughter profusely for showing him the error of his old patriarchal ways.

The footy world needs to start talking about the magnificence of Jye Amiss’ set shot goalkicking.
The Walyalup (Fremantle) forward is the beacon of hope amid an industry which is struggling to seize opportunities in front of the big sticks.
Time and time again we are watching players missing set shots. Yet Amiss has now kicked a goal from 10 of his last 11 set shots.
It’s an extraordinary figure which belies what we are seeing elsewhere. If you’re a Dockers midfielder streaming through the centre of the ground, it must be an amazing feeling to know that your key forward is so reliable once he has the ball in his hands.
Make no mistake, Walyalup’s seven-point win over Narrm on Saturday was achieved through accuracy from their set shots.
The Dockers had 11 set shots for the day and kicked nine goals. Melbourne had 14 and booted five. The Demons’ tally included shots that failed to even score.
The contrast was clear late in the match. Kossie Pickett missed with 7:20 remaining and 10 points the difference. Three minutes later, Jacob van Rooyen also missed to reduce the deficit to nine points. And with 65 seconds left, Angus Brayshaw also missed a set shot opportunity.
When the Dockers had chances in front of goal, they made the moment count.

Amiss is a teenager in his second season. He’s played 13 games. Players with more experience would love to be kicking like him.
On Friday night, Carlton had 10 set shots and kicked only three goals from them.
West Coast had 11 set shots on Saturday night for four majors. The Western Bulldogs sprayed three of their set shots so badly against Gold Coast that they didn’t even score.
On Sunday, Ken Hinkley must have been going crazy watching his team dominating the final quarter against Richmond and being unable put them away. Darcy Byrne-Jones missed a set shot with 14 minutes left and then didn’t even want to take the next opportunity he got moments later.
Lachie Jones then missed with eight minutes remaining and instead of the Power having a match winning lead, they were in front by only 11 points after kicking 8.17.
I’ll repeat. Amiss has nailed 10 of his last 11 set shots.
Imagine being a defender playing on him. There’s enormous pressure knowing that if he takes a mark, the ball will almost certainly be sailing through for a goal.
Clubs spend days analysing games looking for any type of edge on the opposition. Recruiters endure cold, wintry days trying to find talent. Players put their bodies on the line trying to get the ball forward. It’s soul destroying when opportunities are missed.
Athletes around the world struggle when the game stops and everyone focuses on them.
Whether it’s serving in tennis, a free throw in basketball or pulling out the driver in golf, executing skills in a controlled environment somehow seems harder that doing it under pressure. The mind plays tricks, and when one player misses, suddenly the pressure builds on everyone else.
We’ve seen it happen on massive stages. West Coast kicked 8.13 in the 2015 grand final. But Dom Sheed became a hero with a set shot goal which will live on forever in 2018.

Which brings us back to Amiss. He’s a kid, but he’s the future. Key forwards who kick goals earn a hell of a lot of money throughout their careers. Key forwards who take marks and then miss their chances earn plenty too, and constantly leave their fans immensely frustrated.
We celebrate a lot of things in footy. The high mark is awesome. The courage to keep your eyes on the ball is amazing. Dribbling goals from the pocket makes your head spin.
But the reliability of lining up for goal with a set shot and sending the ball directly over the umpire’s head time and time again, is the thing that truly matters. Amiss doesn’t miss and that makes him an incredibly valuable commodity.

2023.05.29 03:13 tmux-vim Key fob problems

Hi, I am wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems:
Today, the key fob would not open the doors nor would it start the car once inside. I figured the battery was dead. No big deal. I plugged it into the key fob port in my vehicle and while the push to start button lit up, the car did not start and the "no key" light kept flashing on the dash.
Is the fob completely busted? This was very unexpected for me. I was guessing the key fob port uses RFID and if that isn't working something must be very, very wrong.
As a side note, the entire apparatus attached to the physical key (the metal one inside the fob) is destroyed so I can't attach the fob to my key chain. I lose it all the time. I also realized today that it's basically impossible to actually use that key without the plastic being attached.
I was thinking of buying this (link to amazon) and trying to remove the original un-smithed key and replace it with mine but I don't know if I would have to break the plastic to do this. Could someone maybe check their key and see if it would be possible to do this?

This is a new bi-weekly feature we will be running on the sub to highlight each of the bands mentioned in the song The Goddess of Doom by Reverend Bizarre. These threads will serve for those new to true doom to learn about its most important bands and for seasoned listeners to worship at the altar of true doom.
This week's band is the legendary Saint Vitus, and while this post originally started off as a place to worship this great band, in light of original bassist Mark Adams' passing this post will also be the subreddit's tribute to him.
BIO:
Hailing from Los Angeles California, USA, Saint Vitus are pioneers of doom metal. Originally formed in 1978 under the name Tyrant with Scott Reagers on vocals, Dave Chandler on guitars, Mark Adams (RIP) on bass and Armando Acosta (RIP) on drums, they would go on to change their name to Saint Vitus (after the Black Sabbath song, St. Vitus Dance from Vol. IV) in 1981.
Unlike their contemporaries and bands who followed them, Saint Vitus had a punk influence and were friends with local punk bands, particularly Black Flag. This led to them making a name for themselves touring with and opening for Black Flag and leading to their signing to SST Records, which was better known as a punk label. In 1984 they released their first, self-titled, album on SST Records.
After their second album, Hallow's Victim (1985), singer Scott Reagers left the band and was replaced by Scott "Wino" Weinrich, at the suggestion of Reagers. This lineup would go on to make the band's highly lauded Born Too Late (1986). The Wino, Chandler, Adams and Acosta lineup did two more albums, 1988's Mournful Cries and 1990's V before Wino would leave the group to reform his old band, The Obsessed (more on them another time).
At this point, Saint Vitus were looking for another new singer. While Messiah Marcolin of Candlemass fame and Chritus Linderson of Count Raven were both available and initially interested, the former having recently left Candlemass and the latter about to leave Count Raven in order to join Penance, it was Linderson who ultimately ended up replacing Wino on vocals. The resulting album, 1992's C.O.D. (Children of Doom), is the most different album in the Vitus catalogue. While all of Saint Vitus's previous albums had been under 40 minutes, with several of them even under 35, C.O.D. was over an hour long and contained 12 tracks. After the album and its subsequent tour, Linderson would go on to leave the group. He is now well known for being the singer in Kimi Kärki's post-Reverend Bizarre band, Lord Vicar.
With Linderson gone, the band broke up. However, the split didn't last long and original singer Scott Reagers was once again at the helm. The album that followed, Die Healing (1995), was to be the final Saint Vitus album and it was for over 15 years. The band ceased all activity in 1995 and, besides some reunion shows in 2003, remained dormant until 2008 when they reformed, again with Wino on vocals and Henry Vazquez on drums, replacing original drummer Armando Acosta. Acosta would sadly pass away at the age of 58 in 2010. The album that followed, 2012's Lillie: F-65, apparently a reference to a drug that Dave Chandler used to do back in the day, featured 7 new tracks of classic Vitus-style doom. After touring on the album and riding the wave of reunion hype, Wino left once again to focus on The Obsessed (again, more on them soon enough) and original bassist Mark Adams left the band as he was suffering from Parkinson's, being replaced by Pat Bruders (Down, ex-Crowbar, ex-Goatwhore).
Who better to replace Wino for the second time but Scott Reagers, now in his third stint in Saint Vitus. The most recent Saint Vitus album as of the writing of this post is simply titled Saint Vitus (yes, another self-titled record) out in 2019 on Season of Mist records. The album features more classic-sounding Vitus tracks like 12 Years in the Tomb, more upbeat numbers like Bloodshed and even a hardcore punk (!) tune, Useless, showing that Saint Vitus are as strong as ever.

2023.05.29 03:08 inevitablee Five things i learnt from my first TWICE concert

I was fortunate enough to go to both Melbourne concerts (involving the infamous 'say something' encore) recently, and came out completely blown away by the experience. It was my first kpop concert experience, even though i've been a kpop fan since mid 2000s and i couldn't ask for anything better. Still suffering from post-concert depression, I've been rewatching my fancams and reliving the experience and thought I'd share some of the lessons i learnt and things I'll take note of for next time!

Camera settings! This was probably my biggest takeaway. I didn't take many videos but the videos i did were over-exposed. I learnt later on that many people adjust the exposure settings (and possibly more?) when they take the video/photo so it turns clearly. I'm pretty gutted about this as I had some great videos where you can still see really well but their faces were more exposed than what I would like!
Be in the moment! I had an interesting experience here as my seats the first night were close but not close enough to gain an interaction whereas my seat for the second night was really close to the stage. As I was further away the first night, I didn't consider taking any videos/photos (maybe 1 or 2) and lost myself in the moment – enjoying the performances, vibing to the songs, watching all the shenanigans on stage, dance cam... the list goes on! It was so fun. But the second night, being so close to the stage, I felt a sudden pressure to be taking photos/videos because I was SO CLOSE to them and everyone around me had their phones out. I'm someone who loves dancing at weddings, dancing and vibing in general but I felt a sudden fomo like if I stopped even for one second that I'd miss some key interaction with them. And because everyone around me had their phones out, they were mainly swaying but not really dancing and I felt nervous for potentially blocking someone's view or being too enthusiastic. It was so strange! But during Fancy, while I was having this internal struggle of fighting the fomo of videoing but dancing at the same time, my desire to vibe won and I put my phone away and said heck it and danced and at that moment, Momo noticed and smiled so brightly and pointed at me as part of the choreo! I was so astonished! After that, I compromised with myself and only took videos when there was no choreo and they were just roaming about the stage.
Going alone is totally fine! I went with some friends the first night and had a great time but I went alone the second night and also had a great time. I was worried about not having anyone to talk to in between soundcheck and the show but I chatted and made friends with so many people. Everyone is sooooo friendly and honestly, chatting to so many ONCEs made the concert experience so great as well. I saw a few older guys by themselves and I also talked to them. No one judges, everyone is here to have a good time. And honestly, when the show starts, all eyes are only on the stage!
Prepare to be bias-wrecked HARD! Sana's my bias. Love the girl. Love her personality, love her smile. But lord, Mina absolutely stole my breath away. I chose seats on different sides of the stage for each night so I could have both perspectives and unluckily (and luckily) Sana went to the opposite side more while Mina stayed on my side a lot of the time. As a result, my camera roll that I expected to be filled with Sana is now full of Mina and her twerking and hip shaking. Can't complain. Sharon was out in full-force, especially that second night!
Post-concert depression is real! It's been three weeks (?? time means nothing to me after the concerts, jk) and I still can't stop thinking about the concert and performances and the girls. I rewatch my overexposed fancams frequently and sigh in pcd at the number of times Mina glances over my way. I wallow in regrets and wishes – that I did not overexpose my vids, that I should've bought soundcheck for both nights instead of one, that I should've gone to the Sydney show too, that I should've danced more – but I break myself out of it by reminding myself just what a stellar experience that was and how fortunate and privileged I was to have experienced it. And that I will see the girls again one day! And I have learnt some valuable lessons. :)
