24(f) here. I feel like I’m very behind in my life. Everyone my age is getting engaged, getting high positions in big companies, moving to other cities and starting a new life, getting into relationships, traveling the world and so much more. Me on the other hand, I’m existing each day as it comes. I don’t even have a plan. I feel so sad seeing everyone around me moving forward in life, into the next stages but my life is stagnant. I don’t have any life outside of my job.
Everyone around me are blessed with the best of everything be it looking good, having a partner by their side who are their peace in life, a good job, freedom to do what they want without someone holding them back. They look happy in life.
I work a job where I get paid less and it’s not enough to “start a new life”. Every job I apply to rejects me and I only get as far to the interview round but never hear a call back. My parents are really toxic and I’m stuck living with them. I’ve got no one I can look for help to. I’m scared that day will come where I have to do something. My parents won’t be around forever. 2023.04.01 10:26 Early_Cockroach2122 Foster kid experience, was this universal or only in the homes I was in? (sorry for typos and grammar)
I'll probably add some more posts likewise to this one as well as others now that I work in the social work field, but backstory: I was in and out of care my whole life, lived in many homes, attended many schools etc. Was separated from my two younger sisters who were moved to a city 9 hours away adopted by their aunt who was unfit to care for them (great job CPS!) I had been raising them as a young child, they were my babies. To this day, I still get sick at the thought of how they were failed. We were put in care for the last time (all four of us before my two younger siblings were "adopted") at the age of 10, becoming wards of the state (crownwards as I am from canada) and like winning a lottery with stakes that are never in your favour, my twin and I were so graciously adopted by our last foster parents at the age of 17.
Now to the experience I want to ask of, being placed in a home with your own siblings, did anyone else (i'm sure many have) foster homes have children of their own? how was that dynamic? did you get along? did the children mistreat you? favouritism? I know in a specific home where I had lived, many times we were treated as outsiders by their children, they wouldn't let us forget the burden we had placed on their family.
I remember holidays and birthdays (which are some of the most triggering times for a child in care) being asked (at the age of 8) to take their family photos for them? While their family came bringing gifts for my foster parents bio children, hugs, kisses, all while my sisters and I sat aside in a corner awkwardly placed as we knew we didn't belong watching the party like a holiday TV show special (we were told to keep quiet and behave so we were sure to not make any rukus) reminiscing our holidays past with our own family wishing so deeply they could go back, would ask us all in the midst of this to take photos for them. The worst was when the whole family would gather for the picture, adults of all ages, social workers, teachers, adults from all corners of life with children of their own all huddled by a christmas tree posing with smiles and silly faces watching an 8 year old foster kid take their christmas/easter whatever holiday photo. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but was just another reminder that I wasn't home with my family.
Now don't get me wrong, I understand laws exist on photos of kids in care, and I never ever expected for a random family member of my foster parents to bring us any gifts or shower us with hugs and attention. I knew this from a very early age. On holidays, it was easier to sit with my sisters and lay low and behave as we were told before events likewise. My reasoning for this post is I feel like so many of us have had these moments, moments in our childhoods where we understood that we aren't their family. Parties didn't end with a family photo and hot chocolate where we came from, sometimes, and normal to alot of us parties ended in police lights and cleaning up a mess from a long night of substance/verbal and physical abuse. It feels like we had this big letter X tattooed on our foreheads in bright red, symbolizing to the word "FOSTER KID FOSTER KID"
Now I know there are good foster families out there, amazing parents who foster not for reward but because they care. Who do everything they can to give these kids a proper life, and to make them feel loved. I have been with families who do it only for good looks, money or as it is their "due diligence" for the church. Maybe these families started off with the right heart and burned out. Anyways, likewise to this experience, Im sure many of us have had similar situations, this one is only a grain of sand on a rough and windy beach.
I think some foster families need to be hyper aware of these situations. Get a tripod. Place your phone or camera on a chair, do ANYTHING but make your young foster children take your family photos. Include them in your family festivities the best you can. These kids aren't getting a real holiday. Please don't make it more awkward and uncomfortable then it is.
I'm not trying to bash foster families, I know its hard for everyone and I know maybe they didn't have the best judgement at the time. I don't know. I also know during that time life didn't revolve around me and my siblings and I'm not expecting every foster family to put us on a higher pedestal just because were foster kids, only to make us feel wanted and equal. (although I do stand by not making a child take your family photo like that ever) I just wanted to share an awkward - sad experience I had that makes my heart still feel weird to this day, even 15 years later.
If anyone has any other experiences to share feel free to do so, aren't alone. Just know, I wouldn't have made you take the family photo ever.

Soooo here’s the story… Bare with me..
I moved to a new state almost four years ago after a six year failed relationship/split/custody agreements. I didn’t know anyone in the state other than one aunt that I hadn’t seen in years. I live in a major city and I basically had to start from ground zero career and all to get myself established.
During this time there was a business I would go to frequently because of how close it was to my house and I ended up getting to know the manager. Long story short we started seeing each other and basically spent the next two years together. He was my best friend and partner I really cared about him deeply, and he was better to me than anyone else ever had been. I must say I wasn’t the best person ever to him truthfully because of my previous separation which was a very toxic relationship adjusting to joint custody and trying to build a foundation in a new city, I wasn’t ready to settle down the way he wanted me to so I ended the relationship. It really hurt him and he didn’t want to end things but I knew that I wasn’t capable to give him what he really wanted and honestly deserved.
I stopped going to the business that he managed and went about my life. I apologized for the hurt I put him through and paid my respects he moved on and got a girlfriend. Throughout the first few months of their relationship he begged me to be with him but I denied and soon after had minimal contact for two years.
Plot twist…
My boss comes in to the office one day a couple months ago, talking about a new café that just opened up around the corner. my boss actually has me grab lunch there frequently now because the office ended up really liking it.
However unbeknownst to me, the manager of the new café is my ex. Once I realize this, I would go in grab the items that were pre-ordered. Be polite say hi and get what I needed not trying to really engage in any real contact. He would always make it a point to make sure that I had to have some type of interaction with him. For example, always being near me when I’m there and trying to spark up small talk. I can tell by the way that he goes out of his way to interact with me that he still has some type of feelings for me.
Today I went into his store and for the first time he made it very obvious that he was flirting with me to the point where he admitted that he will always like seeing me and asked me if I still think about him and asking me when will he see me again…. There has always been a chemistry between us and honestly I’ve thought about him a lot in the past couple of years.
I know this sounds terrible and I’ll probably catch shade but I can’t seem to get away from this kid. We ALWAYS somehow end up crossing paths and it’s starting to stir up some old feelings in me. 🤦🏻♀️
I’m not the type to intrude into someone’s relationship and I would never want to hurt someone or have anything similar happen to me vice-versa but I can’t help how I feel and I’m not sure what to do with it especially since I have to go into his business frequently due to my office and now he’s made it clear that he is still interested in me.
We went through a lot in our time together and shared so much of our lives and what we have been through as people and honestly I do really care for him but I know it’s just not right for me to care for someone who’s engaged.
I know I should tell my boss I no longer want to go into his business but another part of me has this wanting to be around him and see if there is something real behind us that I will always question myself that I missed out on..

Hello,
I am an American 29m. I got a fantastic job about 5 months ago working in my field of expertise. The condition of this job is that I’d have to spend some time in another country for company training. “That will be amazing,” I thought, and gleefully carried out my duties to the best of my ability in the US until the day finally came for me to pack and leave my dog (who is currently being watched by my roommates of 5+ years) and home behind for about 3 weeks. I got on the plane and made the trip out. First day in country I realized how severe my social anxiety is. I can’t leave my room, I can’t speak the language, and I don’t know how to make friends.
In America I resigned myself to being a robot, I was able to maintain a level of contentment through virtual stimuli that kept me from extreme depression. I haven’t had a good friend or relationship in years because of this, feeling it is better for most people not to know I even exist, and having other outlets for socialization. I’ve had my dog, who has been my best and only friend to keep me company. I am a loner, someone who does not particularly enjoy the extended company or presence of others. I feel completely out of place here, and I’m not sure how I’m going to get through the next few weeks of being here. I am not a bar fly, I do not drink. I am not religious, I am not an even remotely experienced tourist. I feel lost, helpless, and angry.
The only thing I can do is focus on my job, and learning as best as possible. My boss(who is from this country) expects me to visit several cities, and most of my family who I’ve told of this journey expect the same thing. I don’t care in the slightest about letting them down, but I will feel a certain resentment towards myself if I can’t even leave the hotel room.
If you made it this far, thanks for taking the time. This is just a rant, I likely will remain in the hotel room the entire time, and only go out to go to work, pushing down the hatred and resentment of my choice for the rest of my life. There will be weekends where I cannot even eat because I can’t build the courage to speak with the people in this country. Some people would call this the ultimate prize; a wonderful getaway. This is a punishment from my deepest nightmares, probably one of my biggest regrets in life so far.
The people here are wonderful and the country is beautiful.
I wish I could be different.

Harvard: He was a really cool former teacher who I think thought I was interesting. Our interview was a couple of hours and it was really great, BUT I didn't talk much about my ECs, really just talked about my goals and perspectives rather than my accomplishments
Princeton: He was a cool guy. We talked for a couple of hours. He seemed really, really impressed by my UN work and seemed to like me.
Yale: Cool guy. Seemed to really like me and talked about how he saw himself in me as a fellow POC. Talked for a couple of hours.
MIT: Cool guy. Really impressive. I think he thought I was great, just not a great applicant to MIT. Asked me a physics question which I got wrong. Talked for a couple of hours.
Georgetown: My interviewer was like hella impressive. Former lawyer. We connected well. He thought I would be great for GTown. Talked for a couple of hours.
Rice: Terrible. I didn't prepare and didn't have great answers. Interviewer was very STEM (I'm not) and didn't seem too interested in my activities. Cut off interview at 30 mins.
Penn: I thought it was really good lmao. I had a lot of fun and we went way over the schedule time and she thought I would be perfect lmao.
WashU (scholarship interview): Timed interview but I felt great. Interviewers were super sweet; laughed at my jokes and made me feel great :)
Brown (video interview): Low key kinda funny; did like a day in the life where I made pancakes for my brother and had a big interview
Berkeley (special program interview): I was not prepared and it was during school hours so I kinda joined 1-2 mins late. I also kinda just read out my application essay as a response for a couple of questions. They didn't seem impressed.
Emory (scholarship interview 1): I got cut off by the virtual timer each time, but I felt quite prepared I think and I think I had great responses
Emory (scholarship interview 2): Really great group interview; gave some great responses. I thought I was resourceful and the interviewers seemed to like me too :)
Emory (scholarship interview 3): Also a group interview; we created something really great and wonderful. Went out of my comfort zone but created something many thought was great. I also met with 2 of my interviewers before and after and both thought I was very articulate and thought I was insightful during the interview.

Common App Essay: (11/10) I honestly loved it lol. It was a conflict of "he" vs. "they" and I thought it was great and really showed who I was. It was also really fun and engaging to read and not too long. Everyone I spoke to LOVED it A LOT so I guess that has to mean something lol
Supps: I really liked a lot of mine and put a lot of time into them. Many of them were really funny or really deep and conveyed the duality of my personality. I will say tho, in the application process, I applied to a bunch of schools I wasn't a fan of, and, as a result, my sups were very rushed. How much I cared about the school and spent on the supp really reflected my admissions decision (except for 1)-- see parentheses below for info on this.

Me and my family moved to this town some years ago when my sister and I were barely two years old. It was such a beautiful site and back then there was no town to behold. Back then it was just what was left behind from a fire, it was my parents who built up the town, mostly on their own. They built this town because of their sadness to the view, how desolate it appeared and how hungry for new life it viewed. And so, here I am now, in this more or less unnamed town, just down from the small city we moved from.
I think I must have been about five years old when this happened, I remember waking up to my little sister crying whilst peering through the window at the nearby mountains. My mom looked at them and said she saw an amazing site and we all need to go see it closer. I decided that morning to be rebellious, I suppose. I wish I hadn't, or I would still have them. I guess I do kind of have them, but they don't believe I'm their son and brother.
So, here's what happened after they went out to see the mountains. They never came back. I looked outside for them and called for them and waited awhile. I must have waited for hours, maybe even the whole day. I remember when I went outside the mountains looked pure silver, there was no source of light as both the sun and moon were nowhere to be seen, and the town my parents had been building up felt eerie, as if there were a million people there yet no one was there at all. I'm not sure how more to describe it. After waiting some time longer, I made the cautious trek back to the city on my own. It was there I stayed for four months, not only recovering but giving the search team any information I could. Those grueling four months are what cause me to regret leaving now.
When we finally returned to get some evidence from where I lived, there sat my parents with my sister. Just as I had seen them the night prior to losing them. I was so excited to see them that I almost started crying, but tears of happiness turned to fear and sorrow as they asked who we were.
"Mom, Dad, you remember me, don't you?" I tried to no avail. I looked at the officers of the search team pleadingly, however, they were as confused as I was if not more.
According to these people who resembled my family, I'd woken up one morning and called out to them after witnessing a beautiful site on the mountains. I begged them for permission to go out early and take a closer look, as much as they tried to convince me not to, they finally caved and told me to return before sunrise. They had been sitting in this room since then, waiting for me. Except, I was right here, and they were right there. I was their son, them my parents. It didn't take long for a search team to go into the mountains themselves to hunt down my real parents or solve this mystery, however that team never really returned. They did return of course, but it wasn't them. When they came down, they didn't recognize me either, they informed my parents they never found me and that they had to consider the worst and start the process of moving on. They went up looking for my family, came down losing me.
It's been a few years now; I still talk to the family that resembles my own. My sister is okay, she misses her brother but thankfully is okay with the idea of me being her brother. My parents say they only talk to me because I resemble their son so much and think he would be like me if he was still here. I guess I got adopted by my alternate family. I tried sharing my story to some organizations, however when they make the hike up to check on things they came back down altered just as my family and the first team had been.

And if you are in places like Varanasi, Haridwar, you are likely to get scammed by pandas.
Not many people know, but the politics around who’s going to be the head of the temple committee, who’s going to manage funds, who will be a member, is pretty crazy too. I know people who serve on these committees, and like regular politicians, they have little interest in temple management and focus mostly on exercising the power that comes along.
Now coming to people’s attitude. I see people treating their temple visits like a holiday or picnic. There’s hardly any spirituality you can sense looking at their behaviour. You’ll see them throwing plastic bottles and garbage all around, spitting on the temple compound walls, fighting with fellow devotees, pushing people to get a “better darshan”.
I have also seen chappris filming women at Har Ki paudi, looking for prostitutes, smoking and coming drunk. There’s no action on them.
This is a rant, but I really hope for a day when our temples will return to their old glory, and their sanctity will be restored. I wish that it’ll become a beautiful experience visiting our holy cities, instead of having to deal with filthy streets, unruly crowds, crappy infrastructure, and chaos all around.

Note this is a repost and not my story but I found it online and thought it would be interesting to get your guys perspectives.
My Experience in a Seemingly Alternate Reality. Screenshots Provided
The concept of a parallel universe, a world similar to our own but differing slightly, perhaps possessing a subtle divergence in history, has always been a prevalent theme in literature. Several individuals have even claimed to have visited alternate realities, experiencing a slightly different, possibly darker, version of the world we know. The vast majority of these people are certainly crackpots, or cranks desiring attention. Nonetheless, a small percentage of these claims are difficult to dismiss, and lead me to significant doubt about the true nature of the world. A couple months ago, I think that I actually experienced, briefly, life in an alternate timeline. From what I can see, this subreddit might be open to stories beyond the ordinary, and I at least hope that you take the time to consider my account.
On June 28, 2014, my morning was the same as any other day. I woke up, brushed my teeth, ate breakfast, got in the car to go to work. I was confused, however, after I switched on the radio. I usually listen to music on my morning drive, but the station was playing some sort of news talk show. The host was exuberantly referencing our "victory in the Great War", as he praised troops and the armed forces. At first, I thought that he was discussing the recent end to the War in Afghanistan, as our combat troops were withdrawing at the time. I was confused, however, when he started discussing the conclusion of our "victory in Italy", and how the "second Great Depression will come to an end as our victory is secured". I assumed that this was some strange sci-fi or fictional program, and largely forgot about it. At my lunch break at work, however, I overheard my office co-workers talking about our "victory in Italy" and how "unity" will be preserved. For some reason, they kept mentioning the numbers 33-13. I asked them what the hell they were discussing, but they told me that my ignorance was "disrespectful towards the troops". It was then that I noticed that one of my fellow co-workers, Sam, was not present; when I asked if he was sick, nobody knew who he was. Strange.
On the way home, I took a different route (through the city) to avoid traffic. Numerous "victory" banners were hanging on the walls of buildings, showing images of American marines braving some foreign beach. I couldn't help noticing that the city looked far poorer than I remembered, and many buildings were abandoned and crumbling. In my apartment, I turned on CNN, just to understand what was going on. The hosts discussed how "Italian logistical targets were decisively defeated with little civilian casualty" and that the "insurgency in Greece and Ireland is drawing down with every passing day". The experience was so unexpected, so bizarre, that I can still remember the words of the newscasters vividly.
I decided to peruse Wikipedia, as I knew that the site would at least give an overview of the "war". As I read the page, I grew increasingly confused and bewildered. The Greek debt crisis had exponentially increased in intensity; there was a string of defaults across Europe, and the Eurozone collapsed into civil war. The United States was in a worse depression than the 1930s, as global finance collapsed, and the war bankrupted our economy further. Ireland and Greece were occupied by "coalition" forces, and there was a violent nationalist insurgency in both countries. I decided that I must be dreaming; to test whether this was really happening, I took screenshots of the pages on my phone. Sure enough, after I woke up, the pictures were still there:

After this experience, I examined the possibility of parallel universes. According to the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, each event leads to a divergence of timelines, with a different outcome corresponding to a different reality. My Experience in a Seemingly Alternate Reality. Screenshots Provided
The concept of a parallel universe, a world similar to our own but differing slightly, perhaps possessing a subtle divergence in history, has always been a prevalent theme in literature. Several individuals have even claimed to have visited alternate realities, experiencing a slightly different, possibly darker, version of the world we know. The vast majority of these people are certainly crackpots, or cranks desiring attention. Nonetheless, a small percentage of these claims are difficult to dismiss, and lead me to significant doubt about the true nature of the world. A couple months ago, I think that I actually experienced, briefly, life in an alternate timeline. From what I can see, this subreddit might be open to stories beyond the ordinary, and I at least hope that you take the time to consider my account.
On June 28, 2014, my morning was the same as any other day. I woke up, brushed my teeth, ate breakfast, got in the car to go to work. I was confused, however, after I switched on the radio. I usually listen to music on my morning drive, but the station was playing some sort of news talk show. The host was exuberantly referencing our "victory in the Great War", as he praised troops and the armed forces. At first, I thought that he was discussing the recent end to the War in Afghanistan, as our combat troops were withdrawing at the time. I was confused, however, when he started discussing the conclusion of our "victory in Italy", and how the "second Great Depression will come to an end as our victory is secured". I assumed that this was some strange sci-fi or fictional program, and largely forgot about it. At my lunch break at work, however, I overheard my office co-workers talking about our "victory in Italy" and how "unity" will be preserved. For some reason, they kept mentioning the numbers 33-13. I asked them what the hell they were discussing, but they told me that my ignorance was "disrespectful towards the troops". It was then that I noticed that one of my fellow co-workers, Sam, was not present; when I asked if he was sick, nobody knew who he was. Strange.
On the way home, I took a different route (through the city) to avoid traffic. Numerous "victory" banners were hanging on the walls of buildings, showing images of American marines braving some foreign beach. I couldn't help noticing that the city looked far poorer than I remembered, and many buildings were abandoned and crumbling. In my apartment, I turned on CNN, just to understand what was going on. The hosts discussed how "Italian logistical targets were decisively defeated with little civilian casualty" and that the "insurgency in Greece and Ireland is drawing down with every passing day". The experience was so unexpected, so bizarre, that I can still remember the words of the newscasters vividly.
I decided to peruse Wikipedia, as I knew that the site would at least give an overview of the "war". As I read the page, I grew increasingly confused and bewildered. The Greek debt crisis had exponentially increased in intensity; there was a string of defaults across Europe, and the Eurozone collapsed into civil war. The United States was in a worse depression than the 1930s, as global finance collapsed, and the war bankrupted our economy further. Ireland and Greece were occupied by "coalition" forces, and there was a violent nationalist insurgency in both countries. I decided that I must be dreaming; to test whether this was really happening, I took screenshots of the pages on my phone. Sure enough, after I woke up, the pictures were still there:

After this experience, I examined the possibility of parallel universes. According to the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, each event leads to a divergence of timelines, with a different outcome corresponding to a different reality. It seems that somehow, somewhere, our universe diverged, and a different, darker timeline formed.

This is somewhat debatable up to Grand Theft Auto IV, which stunned audiences with its mix of macro-scale simulation and micro-scale detail. GTA V and the newer Red Dead Redemption 2 have continued this tradition, and both are still capable of putting the hurt on modern PCs. That's largely thanks to their forward-looking design that integrates features that contemporary systems weren't really ready for when the released.

The thing is, even though it just got a re-release on the current-generation consoles, GTA V originally released in 2013. The game's still fun, of course, especially the online mode that has seen continual updates over the years. The technology behind the title is getting a little dated, though, and fans of the series are understandably chomping at the bit for a new release. Rockstar has confirmed that GTA VI (or at least, the next GTA game) is in the works, but as usual, the company hasn't released any information about the title, nor mentioned a release window.
The leaks and rumors that we've heard so far place a hypothetical "GTA VI" at the end of next year, or even in 2025. That's a lot of development time, even if the company only moved into active development in the middle of last year, as is supposedly the case. In a time when almost every other development house (from Square-Enix to CD Projekt Red) is moving to the Unreal Engine, it seems like Rockstar will thankfully stick with its own in-house tech, known as RAGE.

You can see the tweet above. Chris says that he has been in touch with people who have seen the latest version of RAGE in action, and that its graphics engine is "assez incroyable." Chris describes the latest version as RAGE9, which is interesting; Rockstar doesn't talk about RAGE as a separate product from its games, likely because it doesn't license the tech.

It's not hard to imagine what sort of features the game engine might include to warrant that description. Heavy usage of ray-traced graphics will go a long way toward impressive presentation, but based on what we've heard in the past about GTA VI, it seems likely that the latest RAGE might be more impressive in its ability to scale content from infinitesimal details all the way up to gigantic cityscapes. We've seen demonstrations of similar technology in Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5, and given the nature of "GTA", such capability would be perfectly suited to the games.

Historically, Grand Theft Auto's NPCs have been extremely simple stand-ins mostly intended to give the scene a realistic look without having much in the way of personality or believable behavior. From what we've heard, the next Grand Theft Auto title will be set in Vice City once again, so look forward to exploring the city's tropical environs. No word on the chronological setting, though; it could be set as far back as the Cuban Missile Crisis, or it could be set in the modern day. We also don't know necessarily what platforms the title will appear for, but based on Rockstar's history, we'd expect it to be available for the PS5 and Xbox before it appears on PC later.

A recent post asked, 'how would you write a Tyranid story?'. This is my response. There might be more if the mood strikes, as the idea - and the challenge! - are definitely tempting. We'll see how it shakes out.
A TIME TO EVERY PURPOSE
Falling.
We are falling.
If space is bent - if the gravities of all the little lights and rocks align against us - then we can do nothing but fall. Down the darkling way. Down the four-dimensional plane. Down, down, driven down. We are thrust through the veil on Narvhal’s horn; we pierce the distance between here and there. We are carried on the carrier-beast’s final breath, riven by plasma and lance and exotic matter. Farewell, Narvhal. Farewell, our pursuers - farewell, for now. We shall surely meet again.
Will we be ready when we do?
Now, we must tell you, there will be deceit. We do not wish to call it deception, though clearly, we deceive. We speak to you in words we hope you will understand. We ask for your patience.
Imagine…
Imagine, then, a castle. Imagine grey-brick redoubts, grand old walls wrought by ancient masons that keep out the sprawl of old, dark woods. Imagine their bare branches, riven by snow and season, their rough, tough roots sunk deep into frozen earth. Imagine moving through the courtyards and gardens and finding not a soul, the attendants and groundskeepers and courtiers gone, lost, destroyed.
Imagine the creak of rusted hinges and protesting timber as you open the inner gates. Imagine an ornamental indoor lake filled with the deepest black you have ever seen, the darkness that dwells in the space beyond a dream, and know that the Lady is still here.
She leans on the balustrade, eyes twinkling, snug in fur and downy robes. The cold and isolation do not touch her. She is not weak, here. She is not shriven of biomatter and the last of her brood guard, her mantle seared and cracked by Imperial malice, frozen blood on the black carapace as it sculls slowly, painfully, through the void. She is whole and complete and wonderful and all-knowing and she cannot possibly fail.
‘Come to me,’ she whispers, and all must obey.
Now, imagine the smallest thing possible. A quark, a genome, something closer to an idea than a reality. Something so infinitely delicate can only be a child. It does not squall or cry in its amniotic cradle - it simply looks to the Lady, attentive as only those who yearn for purpose can be…
(Remember: this is not a castle, there is not the smell of woods in winter and age-crisped paper and elderly oak. These are metaphors, these are similies, these are likenesses used to convey a meaning so that you may understand what is about to happen within the ruined, half-dead husk of the Norn Queen, her last unmurdered birthing chamber and what few potential zygotes remain.)

The hasp will be broken, tomorrow or in ten millennia, and the faces will reverse in a single day. Unsuited to our purpose, even if the chance of discovery were not so great, but a valuable lesson. Even the Lady betrays a trace of hunger as she considers the possibilities. Surely in that choked, toxic atmosphere, we could arrive unseen. But where? And after that, how would we protect her? The officialdom of these worlds is not the only danger - their petty rulers, their slum-lords and criminal masses are just as paranoid, just as fearful of the alien, the unknown, the visitors from the stars no matter how humble or hidden their guise.
‘We only have one chance at this,’ the Lady says. Again, she shakes her head, though not without regret. ‘I cannot make you strong enough to prevail here. The flaw is mine. We look again.’

The inner system crouches behind it - we dare go no closer, fearing the sensors and snares and ships that glitter between those worlds. They are closed to us. What else is there?

No. Here is a world that could serve us in a million years, as life nests close to its molten heart, the surface in tectonic upheaval. Perhaps, if they were less attentive, but they would be just as alert to extrasolar intruders as the inner system.

That, alone, makes our survival imperative. We must return this knowledge to the greater mind.

Tattoos: Sure, whatever, as long as it's not overwhelming or flat out tacky, in this day in age it's harder to find someone with none, so as the trend follows above.
Piercings: Depends, some people can pull off septum piercings, but I personally dislike them, so if it compliments your facial features, sure why not. But there is definitely a breaking point where it becomes overwhelming and you just look like Hellraiser.
Education: Strong preference towards educated women, this does not necessarily mean academics, open to all.
Profession: No preference, but I do tend to like women in psychology (I have my reasons.)
Personality: If I have to learn "your" pronouns, or apologize for my "white male privilege" you can fuck right off; I don't care about politics.
Children: Strong preference in favor of not having them, unless we never intend to meet, or you don't expect a level of commitment from me to them, then I don't readily care, non-factor. To explain a tad bit, it isn't that I can't, I just would rather not raise children, I have too many plans in life that children would derail, maybe later.

Well just to filter some things out, since I get this so many times... I will not be putting a big editorial process to this update(I say this now, after already re-reading, and editing a minimum of 5 times; I'm a slave to my own perfectionism,) so if you mostly have questions about me, ASPD, and things of the like, read this before you message me.
While I absolute love to talk about myself because I'm just such a narcissistic-hedonist, I also do get bored of repeating myself, even if it is a new person. As such read everything in it's entirety before you message me, as I'm going to entertain less, and less messages about me, and not what I'm seeking, I'd rather focus on only replying to potential partners, and absolutely nothing else, that being said if anything I have not covered in this update, or post still burns an answer from you, by all means message me.
"Were you formally diagnosed?"
I get asked about this A LOT, I'm not going to go into very many details, suffice it to say, yes, but it's been labeled as a misdiagnosis, all you need to know is I score high, and I do the things you'd expect, the pyromania, the violence that is actually associated at early age, the works, I'm not comfortable giving you more beyond that, and I will not be entertaining questions about my personal life, maybe a partner could ask me those questions, but I'm not letting you in my head, that's my game, not the other way around :).
Please do your own research beyond this point, it's borderline laziness how often I keep getting asked about this.
"Why are you so open about it(ASPD)?"
Isn't it obvious? A lot of you can't fathom why someone with ASPD would just openly come out, and admit to people, well I guess I really should've brushed up on this when I first made my post, or at least go into a far more descriptive detail than I had originally, so here goes:
If I'm ever to lead a sort of a long term relationship based on trust, and honesty, just how in the HELL do you expect me to explain this to you ever so casually? It's best to show your cards in the beginning, this is my own baggage, or some form there of.
There's two reasons I'm choosing to do this online, and vehemently under anonymity; 99% of you will be irrelevant to me, 99% of you will never meet me, it's just that simple, ergo why wouldn't I just preface my entire description as such, and as brutally honest as possible? Secondly I do not want a partner whom I need to continue to wear a mask for, I want to be me, the real me, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
What I find the most is women that fetishize the entire ordeal, that's all fine and dandy, but it does show just a lack of understanding about what APSD is as a whole, and to be perfectly blunt, you're wasting my time, I don't need to feed into your lonely thrill romance you spun in your head from watching true crime dramas. More often than not, this what happens, spare us the role-playing, I'm just not that bored.
"Empathy"
One clear distinction I'd like to make, so I can stop getting asked about it, we DO have empathy, it's just not how YOU experience empathy. Think of a light switch, by default most of the population's is on, ours is off by default, and furthermore we have the ability to turn it on, and off. Yes, it is that simple, yes we use it for manipulation, now stop asking me about this, it's boring to repeat this.
"Emotions"
Boredom, rage. This is what I'm capable of in the dark, empathy off. I'm constantly seeking stimuli, if you notice by actually looking through my posts, I've moved a ton of times, and always national parks... New atmosphere, new adventures, new dangers, you know, the shit that gets your heart pumping, adrenaline. This is my favorite drug, this is the high I constantly chase to kill the boredom. Rage is just self explanatory, my defaults are animalistic.
I am fully capable of experiencing all emotions, it's just for the most part, because I don't want do, I don't allow myself to.
"Manipulation"
For the longest time I told myself who cares if I burn bridges in my wake, I'm building a highway in its place. Mostly still true, and I absolutely use it on a daily basis for survival, I must stress, and emphasize survival, here is why; I'm human, like the rest of you, what do you do on a daily basis, if not find means, and ways to survive, and entertain yourself? I know no other way other than to use people to my advantage, I minimize the damage where I can, and move about my daily existence, guilt, and worry free about doing any wrong, an argument could be made that we all use each other in some weight, or capacity, and that's good enough for me.
I'm sure by now you're probably wondering what the hell any of that has to do with anything, it's simple if the point flew over your head, again. I'm tired of manipulating people, using them, abusing them, discarding them, I didn't grow a conscious I'm not "growing" as a person, but much more likely, I'm just bored of the routine, or the process, which has become the symphony of my life.
"Love"
I by no means ever want to experience this love you all chase like Alice clumsily falling down the rabbit hole. I've seen it so much in my life it's downright pathetic, and I actually feel bad for those of you that have such strong emotions, see empaths. You're slaves to these emotions, you let people use and manipulate you, you've been hurt, and had your heart ripped from your chest, and it feels like you no longer have purpose, lacking direction, and meaning in life. I merely know this from generally observing humans for most of my natural born life. I'm more than happy to remain the way I have always been, and never wish to experience emotions in the way you do, I find it to be an advantage, one I can apply to more important things in life, like the pursuit of knowledge.
I hope the psych nerds will now stop asking me these questions, I've paid my dues.
"Preferences"
My preferences, are just that, a list of my preferences, at no point in any of my writing did I say I was prejudice between one thing, or that I show favoritism. I merely made a chart listing some of the attributes that I myself, personally find to be significant to me, but that isn't to say, or detract from other things. It's the equivalent of asking me if I prefer Metallica, or Megadeth; well I'm going to say I prefer one over the other, but I enjoy both, and the genre as a whole, the genre being women in this case. I enjoy women for my own personal entertainment, and amusement -- which makes it all the more hilarious to me when I get called a misogynist.
so please spare me all your comments, and messages telling me that it's so "intimidating", if my post intimidates you, what can I really even begin to say about that? It doesn't sound like we'd be compatible, or much less you'd be able to accept me as a person, in any case this is a personal issue.

I know what the help is, they just remind you repeatedly that your actions have consequences, they do not prescribe a medication for this, just therapy, and I know enough already to check myself, it really is that easy.
