My wife and I were driving home yesterday on the NJ parkway. She was driving. It is three lanes and my wife is in the middle lane. A guy passes her on the left and cuts in front of her with about one car length clearance and then proceeds to slow down slightly so that my wife had to brake. About 30 seconds later, my wife signals to the right to change lanes. Before she can, the guy moves to the right lane (no signal) and blocks her, so before her lane change is even complete, she moves back to the middle lane. The guy looks like he is staying in the right lane so my wife starts to pass using the middle lane, except the guy moves over the dividing line about a foot into the middle lane, so my wife lays on the horn for about 2 seconds. She ends up passing him, but he follows us and starts to continuously blow his horn whenever he is to the side of us or behind us. My wife speeds up, but he continues to follow and do this. I call 911 and get patched through to highway patrol. I describe the events and give them a description of the vehicle and its license plate number. What are the odds that the Highway Patrol actually tracked this guy down and did anything?

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a new home that came with "standard" security. They included video doorbell, basic home alarm system, and door keypad. The sales person called me and tried to force me to pay 60 bucks a month + activation fee, without me giving much input, so I halted the transaction.
I was thinking about doing it myself, but not sure what I actually need. I know that I'll get the Ring video doorbell for the front door, 2 floodlight cameras one front and back, and the indoor alarm security.
But what about garage door opener (geo-location something), honeywell thermostat, smoke alarm/CO2 detector, and smart door keypad? Those are the 4 that the sales guy said will also come with the subscription. I don't think Ring offers those products. How do I look further into this if I want those to be automated too/what do you think about this setup idea? Thank you.

So I’ve had the 13980HX/4090 model for about a week, zero issues (I’ve been on the road for work so only light gaming use a couple evenings).
I got home, wanted to test out thermals on a cooling pad, fired it up….screen artifacts like crazy for a good 30-45 seconds and goes black, resets and windows comes up like normal.
Now I’ve tried to replicate this issue for the last 48 hours and can’t get it to do it again. (I’m using dGPU only with latest drivers and HDR off). Can’t seem to get it to freak out again. I’ve run a random 3d mark suite on a loop, run it off AC power and on. Different gpu modes in armory crate. Can’t seem to get it to do it again however.
I have another week of return window to swap it for another new one if needed. Just not real sure how to proceed at this point. If it was a cheap beater I wouldn’t care but $4k after one big incident like that is a big yikes 😂.
I think I saw another Scar 16 on here somewhere do something similar to mine but hey I’m open to any info anyone has out there. I definitely don’t mind returning and trying again if this is a looming sign of bigger issues to come, I just can’t seem to make it fail again.

Looking for some advice on my situation.
First time buyer in Scotland with my partner, we’ve been saving to buy our first home for a couple years now but are fortunate enough to find ourselves in the situation where we’re able to buy outright with no mortgage (value ~£220K)
We’re currently renting so have no chain, our solicitor has said that puts us in good stead with sellers looking for a quick sale. We’re also looking for what we’d deem a forever home so no moves within the next 10 years.
Is there anything we should be aware of buying outright, possible pitfalls or areas of opportunity vs buying with a mortgage.

I (female, 23) just started my first salary job 5 months ago. It is a job working in marketing for a Fortune 500 company.
Yesterday evening, my city’s division had dinner meeting. At the meeting, mostly everyone drank and spent time discussing work but also personal lives, sports, etc. Most of attendees had a night booked at a hotel so that anyone who wanted to drink would not worry about driving.
As the dinner was wrapping up, myself and 2 other young coworkers decided we wanted to go to one more bar before going to bed. As we were arranging this plan, an older coworker (male, around 50) asked if he could join us. We said it was fine and headed to the bar.
As we were walking in, my ass was slapped two times. I had assumed it was my young female coworker since we are pretty comfortable with each other. We got drinks then the four of us sat down at a table. A few minutes later, the older coworker asked me if I could chat with him at another table, and I said that was fine.
The first few minutes were ok, but then he suddenly asked, “would you want to fuck me?”. I said no and got up to go back to the original table. While I did this, my older coworker went to the restroom. I immediately told my two younger coworkers what happened and they said they watched him slap my ass two times on the way into the bar. I was shocked.
At the same time, my older coworker was walking back to the table so I asked my younger female coworker to go to the restroom with me. For around 10 minutes we discussed the situation and decided the best course of action was just to leave the bar. As we were waiting for our Uber, my older coworker fell completely down out of drunkenness.
My younger male coworker helped him up, then we got into an Uber that took us back to my apartment building (which is only one block from the hotel the three of them were staying at). When we got out, my older coworker assumed that we would go into my apartment building and into my apartment together. We all said no, but he was being persistent.
So for safety, all four of us walked back to the hotel knowing that after my older coworker got to his hotel room, that I would be able to walk back to my apartment safely.
I got home just after midnight and cried for about 30 mins before going to bed.
This older coworker of mine has been with my company for 15+ years, and I’ve only worked here for 5 months. My direct manager is also an older male, and isn’t the type to understand the severity of sexual harassment in the workplace.
In 5 months, I’ve had to complete two separate work harassment training modules, but I still feel as if if this incident was reported to HR that my side would not be taken, even with two witnesses.
Do I just let the situation go and going forward avoid interactions with this coworker (who I do not see on a daily basis) or do I report it to HR?
I want to choose whichever option has a neutral impact on my job and position within the company. I want to report it, but I feel as if all of my coworkers would hate me since my older coworker is loved by so many.
Has anyone faced this same or a similar situation and has advice? I would be greatly appreciated!!

Hey everyone I just wanted to place to lay out some thoughts i've been having.
Last year my wife gave birth to our second daughter. We had our first one in 2010 after only knowing each other for 2 months! I was a real loser at the time; worked at a minimum wage job, no college, sharing a studio apartment with a friend of mine (literally slept in the closet), no car, I biked and took the bus everywhere, doing a shit ton of drugs, and properly supporting my drinking habit/addiction. At the time I was doing a lot fo "soul searching" and when she told me she was gonna keep it, I made the decision to stick it out with her and see where it would take us. I found a better paying job, and started making arrangements to get back into school and pursue the dreams I had. I spent a lot of time away from my daughter, especially once I went back to school with crazy late nights. But the reality is I was terrified to be a father, I did anything I could to stay away from the home. Even after school and in my first job I had to "prove myself" a lot and "network" which meant long nights most of time, and more time away from the family. This is NOT to say I was never there, we made sure to do a lot of things as a family, especially when my daughter got out of the toddler age. So we have a lot of core memories and good times to share as well....
Cut to now where I have the career I've always wanted, a house, a car, pretty much reached what was once thought of as the middle class, so it's still a challenge to afford things sometimes. My wife got unexpectedly pregnant after 3 miscarriages and I was so scared, with a 12 year old now we had gotten used to a certain lifestyle, going out more, traveling more, freedom again, but my wife was so happy what could I do?
Well now our daughter is here and it has been wonderful! But it has hit me how much time I didn't spend with my now 12 year old when she was a baby, and it makes me sad. I grinned so hard to help provide a decent life, and ended up making a lot of the mistakes MY parents made with me. It feels nice to have a "second chance" to experience a lot of the things I didn't get to with my now 12 year old. It has help me foster a better relationship with her now as well.
Overall I just want to say to first time parents, take some time to really appreciate the infant stage. Let them get to know you through touch and feeling. Watch them learn to roll over, sit up, crawl. Try to make the time to enjoy these times because when it's gone it's gone forever.

I was driving home from work the other night. Two motorcycles ripped past me like I was standing still. I was doing 80. A couple of miles down the road I saw brake lights. When the police arrived an EMT relieved me and I stood on the shoulder watching as they attended to him. After working 60plus hours at the refinery that week I was exhausted. The fire grew and grew and I was no longer helpful so I left. I wrote this poem over the next week or so.

my neighbors across the street HATE me, i’m assuming bc my ex of 10 yrs (childs fathers) is now re-married and wifey is good friends w my neighbors. My neighbors are in their 70’s and have been an issue since day 1. But they have a camera pointed at my front door and every time i have someone over, even my parents, they call my bd and his wife. I’m a very average person, i’ll admit i do t have much of a life but these neighbors of mine are causing so many problems by exaggerating things that go on over here. For instance….my 14 yr old has a little moped 🏍️ and i allow him to ride it just out in front on our home on the road and they told bd and his wife that my son was riding all over town. We live in a very small town. I can’t have my front door open bc they have a camera pointed right inside. IS THIS EVEN LEGAL!!??? What should i do about this situation, it’s a huge headache and they cause so much drama!!!

I test drove a second hand Ford Fiesta mk8 car in 2020 and the air con was making a funny noise. The salesman phoned me to say they re-gased the air-con so I went back and bought the car. Several months later I wasn’t sure if the air con was working and eventually tested it with a meat thermometer a couple of months ago to confirm it’s just blowing hot air.
I took it back to the garage I bought it from and they quoted me £170 to re-gas and use a UV dye to search for a leak. They then said they found the leak and it would cost over £600 to fix and that they managed to reclaim the gas before it leaked out. They wanted me to pay the £170 bill to take the car home while deciding what to do. I had to really push the garage to reduce the bill based on the premise they reclaimed the gas, they put me through to the sales manager who easily then said yes of course I shouldn’t have to pay the full amount as the gas was reclaimed. I paid £130 and got the car home.
I told them I had lost my trust in them as I had raised the air con issue before buying the car and that’s when they should have noticed the leak. They tried to say that they have paperwork their end showing they did check for leaks when they re-gased the car before I purchased it and that the leak didn’t exist then.
I then took my car to a garage I trust, assuming they could see where the leak is and then quote on fixing it. But, we couldn’t see the UV dye anywhere to show where the leak was. I phoned the untrusted garage and they specified where the leak was (different position to where they originally told me). I still can’t find the leak. My trusted garage even gave me a UV light to take home and check myself, I can’t find anything. The un-trusted garage even gave me the list of parts they said needed replacing but I can’t find where these parts are:
