2023.06.10 18:08 BudgetWeevil1668 Does anyone sell a decent rotors anymore?

I was a mechanic for 10 years in the early 2000s, and we used to be able to get decent rotors from the aftermarket and would cut rotors until they approached their wear limit
I still maintain all my families vehicles(multiple jeep grand cherokees, 2 Ford fusions, gmc terrain, chevy 1500), but I can't find decent rotors that last. No matter where I buy them- NAPA, carquest, O'Reilly, Powerstop- they all warp in less than 2/3 pad life and it seems shops have all abandoned their brake lathes. I'm certain it's not procedural, and I never used to have this issue. What's going on? Where do yous guys get your brake frisbees?

2023.06.10 16:30 khoafraelich789 Off-Road Comparison: Ford Bronco Sasquatch vs Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Recon

Off-Road Comparison: Ford Bronco Sasquatch vs Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Recon
Jeep and Ford take different approaches to 35" off-road packages, each with specific strengths.

https://preview.redd.it/7osf1yj5ad3b1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=2af5f7f65a9ad46e024396fa1fe0cf966ec22533
Elle Alder: Jeepers creepers, look at that Bronco! We’ve got a mightily rubbered matchup today, mates. Before us are the Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch and the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Recon 392. Riding 35” tires, big suspension, and uhh, ‘comparable power,’ these off-roaders represent quite nearly the most capable of their breed.

Clayton Seams: Nearly, but we are short one carnivore: the Ford Bronco Raptor. The muscled-up Braptor was not available to pair up with the Wrangler 392, so we’re making do with the still-incredibly capable Ford Bronco Badlands Sasquatch. The ‘Squatch can’t match the big Raptor for high-speed off-roading or acceleration, but it’s a closer rival to the Jeep Rubicon — or it would be, were it not for the badge on the Jeep’s hood that says “392”. Those three little numbers make a very big difference.

EA: Very big. Converted from cubic inches, the big Jeep’s V8 measures 6.4 litres displacement. It’s straight off-road muscle, but fortunately for Ford, this comparison is really about the platforms beneath. The arrival of the new Bronco has unquestionably challenged Jeep’s trailhead throne, and the big question is how the two match up on road and trail.

Assessed as equals, these rigs offer similar but distinct skill sets at a similar price point. The V6-equipped 2023 Ford Bronco Sasquatch comes in from $72,189 with destination, or $74,289 as tested. A V6-powered 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Recon arrives from $67,480, from $78,495 configured with the good stuff, or a mighty $116,890 for the tested 392 V8 with one-touch power top and all of the goodies.

CS: Mechanically, the largest difference between the two is the front suspension. Jeep famously hangs a solid front axle under the front of every Wrangler and Gladiator, while the Bronco uses an independent front suspension setup. Out back, both use burly live axles and coil springs. Both of these are real 4x4s built largely in the traditional way with body-on-frame construction, two-speed transfer cases, and are specced up with huge 35” tall tires. Underhood, the Bronco can be specced with a turbocharged 2.3-litre inline-four (the one to have), a 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6 like our tester, or the top-dog 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 that you only get in the Raptor version.

EA: Jeep’s modern reputation was built on six naturally aspirated cylinders, and the available 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 — by no means a powerhouse — is plenty of power for the platform. Its 285 hp and 260 lb-ft bounce and crawl with a reputation for reliability and serviceability, making it an entirely respectable path. Standard today is a 2.0-litre turbo-four producing 270 hp and 295 lb-ft, an efficient commuter for the lifestyle crowd but perhaps not to the tastes of NA traditionalists. Manual transmissions are available in some Wrangler trims, but don’t expect to see many of them amid the usual ZF eight-speed automatic configurations.

The 6.4-litre in the Wrangler 392 is the naturally aspirated gasoline powerplant seen in the Ram 2500 and Dodge Scat Packs, tuned here to deliver 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. It’s a fun option with a silly sound and an expensive gasoline habit — and also entirely overkill. Accelerating in 4.5 seconds on solid axles and wobbly sidewalls is a skittery affair.

Ford Canada hasn’t dared make any Bronco Raptors available for comparison with the 392, so in the interest of fairness we’ll overlook the Jeep’s obvious power advantage and treat it as a Rubicon Xtreme Recon — a comparatively priced suspension and goodie package available with everything you see here, less the 470-horsepower V8.

CS: While you’re commanding that muscle-car V8 through the trails, you’re sitting in a 2023 cockpit like no other. The exposed door hinges mean the doors swing freely with no stops to easily keep them from hitting cars next to you. There’s more visible painted steel in this interior than a 1985 Toyota Starlet, and the windshield appears almost vertical in front of you. Sure it has Stellantis’s latest uConnect touchscreen system, Alpine premium nine-speaker audio, and heated front seats complete with fetching Rubicon embroidery. But even when compared to the equally rugged Bronco, the Wrangler interior feels like a throwback to an earlier time. The cabin is noticeably narrower than the Bronco, the dash is more vertical, and it still knocks your ankle with its long door harness. It is certainly a Jeep.

Conversely, the Bronco interior manages all of the rugged off-road looks and sacrifices nothing in practicality over a ‘normal’ SUV on the inside. The cabin feels more modern, the touchscreen is much larger than that in the Jeep, and the quality of materials throughout the cabin is superior to the Jeep’s. Despite costing as much as a luxury sedan, both of these SUVs have rubber floors — not carpet — for easier washing after a muddy day on the trails. One gripe would be that the chunky grab handle is located on the dash and not higher on the A-pillar. This makes it easier for passengers to grab during “oh heck” moments, but less helpful for shorter people using it to hoist themselves into the cabin.

EA: Fording is a loss for the Bronco. Ford says that the Sasquatch is good for the same 85-cm (33.5 in.) water crossings that the Jeep is rated for, but that V6 engine leaves its alternator low and vulnerable to rushing water. The Wrangler, meanwhile, mounts its alternators up high and clear of water, and an optional water-diverting intake provides further protection from overenthusiastic gulps — albeit at the compromise of a seriously hefty hood.

That weight shouldn’t be surprising, however, for nothing about either of these rigs is in any way light. Exact figures vary depending on configuration, but equipped with V6s, the Bronco Sasquatch curbs around 5,100 lbs; the Wrangler Xtreme Recon at ~5,200 lbs.

Similar as these curb weights are, the two SUVs carry their weight very differently. The Bronco’s independent front and overall construction feel lighter, whereas the unsprung mass of the Jeep’s solid Dana 210 front axle (an electronically modernized 44 variant) renders a more precarious highway drive and more heaving sensations on the trails. With that handling shortcoming comes confidence in durability, however, and I’d certainly rather have the option of running that solid axle up a log for a backwoods wheel swap than wince at the mercy of a mud-footed jack under the Bronco.

Such weight doesn’t assure invulnerability, however. While both the Sasquatch and Xtreme Recon packages equip these SUVs with underbody shielding in vulnerable areas, it does leave a little to be desired. Hesitant gut impressions of the Bronco’s under-sump shielding and the Jeep’s fuel-tank cladding will hold most stock drivers to the side of caution.

CS: But to get to those trails where fording depth, breakover angle, and tire height matter, you probably have to commute there on pavement. And in that asphalt environment where these vehicles will spend easily 90 per cent of their time, these SUVs are severely out of their element. To be fair, the 392 Wrangler is the first Wrangler that’s ever been fun to drive on the street, thanks specifically to its outrageous muscle-car power and NASCAR soundtrack. But the Wrangler is sketchy to drive at speeds in a way that no other modern ‘car’ is. Those huge meats and solid front axle make for a decidedly wobbly experience on pavement, and drivers must constantly steer a Jeep in its lane on the highway to keep it pointed between the lines. Wind noise is strong at speed, though it faces competition from the droning mud tires and the 392’s dual-exit exhaust. On the plus side, the steering wheel turns easily even with those massive tires, and the ride is cushy-smooth across rough pavement because, of course it is. And that’s before we talk about the fuel economy which is good only when compared to a TRX. Even with gentle driving, you can expect to average around 14 L/100 km at best, and you won’t get that number without a tailwind and some luck.

Compared to the Jeep, the Bronco is a serene experience much in the way that skydiving would feel calm after going over Niagara Falls in a barrel. The independent front suspension allows the Bronco to do novel things like track straight down a highway lane. Although the exhaust is markedly more subdued (granted, the V6 Wrangler is similarly tame), the Bronco’s seats are not as comfy as the Wrangler’s and the ride is a bit harsher over highway bumps. That said, I vastly prefer the Bronco’s stereo, and if I had to take one of these on a road trip, I’d choose the Bronco.

EA: As a single vehicle to live with every day, I must reluctantly agree that the Ford takes it. The Bronco is significantly more ‘car’ than the Jeep, and carries itself along the commute with far shinier technological comforts as well. Nicely appointed and priced to compete directly with the Wrango-dango, it’s simply a better truck for the roads of today.

Still, neither vehicle should be looked to as a commuter. These trucks are large, inefficient, and costly toys better suited to a multi-vehicle family. Relegated to a secondary role for off-road play days, the Jeep is doubtless the hardier, more trustworthy, more capable, and more customizable rig. The Bronco makes trails more accessible, but it’s no old-fashioned, hard-knockin’ Wrangler.

2023.06.10 16:16 DarkSoulsIsMid Talk me into/out of ecodiesel and 4xe

I’m looking to buy a gladiator, this would be a weekend warrior car, plus groceries, no commuting.
My adventures look like camping occasionally, overlanding occasionally, some trails, mountain biking, lots of trips to ski resorts (hopefully with lots of snow) and road trips around and out of Washington. Mostly longer trips to get from Seattle to the cascades or the Olympic peninsula.
I’m really attracted to the idea of a novel fuel source, I’ve never had an electric or diesel vehicle. But when I do the napkin math, it just doesn’t add up. The 4xe doesn’t exist yet but it will probably have like a 7-10k usd markup and I don’t qualify for the tax credit. And the mpg is only marginally better, with the downside of lugging around a heavy battery. To make it worthwhile you would need to do daily trips within plug-in range right?
Diesel would be fun but still the mpg gains are marginal, and the cost of maintenance and fuel makes it not so worth the extra 4k for the drive train.
In either case, the economic break-even point could take years to reach and by then there may be better options on the market.
Finally, if I go gas I could get a manual transmission. I’m intimidated by the prospect of off-roading in a manual because I never done that before, but I do enjoy manual on the pavement.
But I still want a electric Jeep or a diesel, because of the coolness factor. What do I do?

2023.06.10 15:49 OptiflexGaming Recommendation on All-Terrains

Avg. Road king with weekend desert trips. Since it's my daily. I also need some decent ride quality nd mileage. I don't expect to put much KMs on it. I go to the desert once in a while and when i do, I expect the best from these tires. I currently use K02's, But i am unhappy with the fuel economy on those. The k02's also have poor wet traction, Any wet white line or expansion joint caused a loss of traction and some scary moments. Wet braking on tarmac was also really poor. I drive ~25 KKms a year.
TL;DR Decent ride quality, l/100km, Loose Sand Traction, Wet traction, Durability in Hot climates .etc
(If the vehicle is required for any reason, It's a Jeep Wrangler. Tire size: 285/70/R17)

2023.06.10 15:45 Mar_Koo_Sha Xbox - Dynamic Campaign Map - A Few Complaints or My Ignorance - Long

COH3 is the first in the series I've played because I haven't had a PC since Jesus was an M-60 gunner. Hope that didn't offend anyone. I am an Army Infantry veteran, and we used to say that to denote something that's really old.
I love this game and find it addicting.
But...
I can find no correlation between unit sizes on the DCM and the RTS. I never know how many units I'll start a skirmish with. As a commander in the field this is vital information. It would be nice if we could know how many tanks and what types the enemy will start with, as well as other units, such as how many other vehicles, how much infantry, and so forth. I would love to have this information before I initiate a skirmish, etc.
This information would also be useful when we're making new units at HQ. For example, I had a skirmish where I had to capture the areas surrounding their HQ. I've learned in these situations to build up several units and send one group each into each area around their HQ that I need to capture. Typically each group has infantry, engineers, bazooka squad, tank, a half-track with the anti-tank gun and one with .50 cal gun. I will also throw in the jeep with the .30 cal. Typically, a group like this will easily capture and hold. If you move that group somewhere else, the enemy will take it back. Hence, the need for three groups.
I did this and captured two of the areas quickly. Suddenly, the Germans counter-attacked with heavy tanks and the vehicle that has four machine guns on it. They also called in artillery and they had mortars as well, and probably 100 ground troops. Militarily, it was a brilliant counter-attack. But they wiped out all of my vehicles and ground troops; and chased me back to my HQ. It was a blood bath. I had nothing that could damage their tanks. They damaged my motor pool. I was able to fight off most of their ground troops but the tanks almost wiped me out.
I had no heavy tanks, and no real air support of the ability to drop in tanks or aiartillery support. . Eventually, they got tired and went home. They lost a lot of men, but I lost.
I replayed it and with the knowledge I now had, I was able to build the right gear and easily won.
It would also be nice if true north was indicated on the DCM,
Another complaint I have is that they throw too many missions at us, especially side missions. I think one main mission and an alternate would be good. I'm on the Adriatic coast and the General is barking about Anzio. This, to me, is just stupid. Getting from the Adriatic coast to Anzio takes a LONG time. Let me finish one mission before you throw something new at me with a target on the other side of the peninsula. Missions are typically assigned based on the unit's location.
I find it frustrating that ships cannot travel from one side the peninsula to the other. If you have two ships in the Salerno area and you're attacking the Adriatic coast, the ships are worthless in terms of naval gun support. And planes from an aircraft carrier cannot reach the other side of the peninsula where they'd be valuable assets to ground units in that AO.
I've not been able to move a heavy bomber to a different airfield, though that command is in the order wheel. I've tried many times to move a bomber to a blue airfield closer to the front, and each time it was a no go. These bombers become useless when they're too far from the front. I need bombs where I'm fighting, not in already captured areas to my rear.
I don't care for the bantering between the generals and the resistance leader. This is totally unnecessary, and it would nice if there was an option to turn this off.
There is but one commander, and the other officers carry out his orders. Having two generals assigning missions to the same armies is a cluster-fuck. Eisenhower was the supreme commander of the allied expeditionary forces, and he gave orders to Montgomery and the units under him, and different orders to Patton. There was some overlap because of the rivalry between these two generals, but the point remains.
I love the idea of the DCM, but I find it clumsy and unrelated to the RTS maps. A commander always assesses the strength of the enemy before deciding to attack and which units to use for the attack.
Corporal Conti should be a division or brigade sergeant major. No corporal is going to be barking out orders to units. At best, a corporal might be a team leader in a platoon; meaning they're might be six troops under him.

2023.06.10 15:29 euphorheya Interview with Paulina 😇 [Official Info by Dmitry, Author of GC ⚔]

Hellooo everyone, I'm back with another interview with a GC character 😊 For those who don't know: there's this section on VK where fans can ask a GC character some questions, and the most interesting one(s) will be illustrated by artists. The answers are considered to be canon, as they are issued by the author of GC himself 😄
NOTE: I am not a professional translator. I only used both Yandex and Google Translate. You may add corrections to this post if there are any mistranslations 😊
Alright, let's get into the interview with Paulina…

❗All information is official, and issued by our favourite screenwriter Dmitry
Friends, the beautiful Domina Paulina has come to us with answers to your questions. 🥰
1. Can the beautiful domina share some cute or funny story from her childhood?
"Almost all of my childhood memories are somehow connected with Dad. I especially remember one moment well when I decided to please him for the first time with a delicious hot wine with spices. For some reason, I decided it would be a good idea. As a result, the wine was spoiled, although dad tried not to show it and sincerely praised me. But his face gave him away 😄"

2. What helps Paulina herself in difficult times? How is she holding up?
"When you are surrounded by people whose fate is much worse than yours, faith is the only way to hold on. The belief that one day something can be changed. The belief that now you can ease someone else's suffering. Probably these are the things that move me. For evil, you don't need much - to answer someone sharply, to drive someone away. I was lucky, but what would have happened if I had been born into another family? Would they treat me well? But, as now, I would be looking for warmth and kindness."
3. How did such a rational and cold-blooded Cassius have such a tender and sensitive daughter?
"I know him differently... For me, he is the most loving father who will always help and surround me with warmth and care. He doesn't need to be cold-blooded and rational inside the family. We are his small fortress, where he can give free rein to his love, of which he has a lot. ❤"
4. Would you be happy if Rix gave you flowers? What kind of flowers do you like?
"Let him take me to a blooming meadow better 😅 I love fresh flowers that you can take care of. In this I find some kind of harmony and peace... I really love violets ❤"

That's it, everyone 😊 Unfortunately, yes, Paulina's interview is the shortest. But overtime, the interviews are getting longer, since more GC characters are being interviewed. Translating Cassius' interview will be the biggest pain in my ass 🤣🤣🤣 Anyway, I will be posting Labelle's interview tomorrow 😃👍

2023.06.10 12:56 DraagedehRed CR of modified Gladiator

I’m modifying the Gladiator stat block slightly for an encounter, buffing it. My goal is to elevate it from CR5 to CR6.
First change is them using a halberd or glaive instead of spear and shield.
The change to halberd changes weapon damage from 2d6 + 4 to 2d10 + 4. Gladiators Brute feature adds an extra damage die to attacks. They also attack 3 times a turn because of multi attack.
Taking away their shield leaves ac at 14 instead of 16, so another step in buffing can be by replacing studded leather with scale mail. This brings ac back to 16.
Our third step in buffing can be to add PAM, which gives a bonus action attack for 2d4+4 damage, and AoO when entering reach.
Any other ideas? How many “levels of modifications” should it have for CR6? Is only the halberd enough? Halberd and scale mail? Or the whole package?
Thanks for reading and thank you in advance!
Edit: Thanks to u/Chagdoo for help. Final build was with halberd and scale mail, but no PAM.

2023.06.10 08:09 alurry [US-TX] [H] Entire 4K Collection (250+) [W] PayPal

I am selling my entire personal collection. 95% of these were purchased new by me. Immediately after purchase I put them into the plastic protectors and haven't removed them since. None are heavily damaged (bending, major dents, multiple large scratches, etc.). There may be tiny dents, scratches, and the odd spine slash here and there. When you are ready to purchase I will let you know if I see any noticeable damage, however minor or major.

These are all used and opened and none contain the digital code or j-card. The vast majority contain all the original discs but a few might be missing the regular blu-ray. Most discs have never been played but I have watched a few once or twice. No issues while playing any of them.

I will ship for free via Media Mail. If you would prefer I ship using First Class or something else we can work out an extra fee. I would prefer to use PayPal F&F but will accept G&S if you insist. I will ship with the plastic protector (or with the slipcover that originally came with the SteelBook) and I will ship securely in a box with lots of bubble wrap (see picture below).

Prices are somewhat firm but it's hard to say what a lot of these are worth so feel free to make an offer. The more you buy the better deal I can give you. 10% off (possibly more) if you buy 2 and it only goes up from there. I would prefer to keep most of the collections together for now but could sell individually for the right price.

Proof (https://imgur.com/a/UOAZ2UL). If you want more assurance I have 224 transactions in DigitalCodeSELL (check my post history). I can also link you my eBay page if that is allowed. 3.6K items sold with 100% positive feedback.

2023.06.10 05:29 t_john_13 Looking to buy a family vehicle - Grand Cherokee L. Info and advice greatly appreciated.

Our current two row SUV is down and out so we’re looking to upgrade and get something with a third row. My wife and I have one son and planning for at least two more in the next couple of years.
We set out this past week looking at SUVs: Traverse, Highlander, Pilot, 4Runner, and now a GCL. I had never even known about the GCL line until one of our local car lots offered to let us take one home for one day to test. Needless to say, we both fell in love with it. This was a ‘21 Summit, but we’re more interested in a Limited trim as we don’t need all the perks. I think it’s a great vehicle for space, comfort, off-road ability, and towing. None of the others checked all boxes at once like this.
I’ve read great things and bad things about these. What did Jeep do with the GCL when building these vehicles? Is it a replication under the hood of a GC, but just longer?
I see there are some recalls for the ‘21 GCL and known issues, is this the same for GCs? A used ‘21 is more in our price range, but should we stay away and buy new if we want a GCL? I’m attentive at taking care of maintenance of my cars, but still have concerns and longevity and reliability of buying one of these.
Thank you for any input.

2023.06.10 05:10 leecelu91 Advise on private sale

I have a wonderful setup and wondering if people ever buy a class c and tow vehicle together? And if so, recommendations on how to proceed quickly? (Husband is having a mid-life crisis and we are very very unexpectedly getting divorced). I just need some words of wisdom please.
Here are the details:
2022 Entegra Coach Esteem 30x
Like-New Entegra Coach 2022 Esteem 30x
12k miles (only used since 10/22). So many additions (manufacturer)!
Additional updates include: VERY VERY comfortable mattress, ply wood cut to fit loft area to double as storage.
Additional Options: It is all hooked up to flat two a Like-New 2021 Jeep Rubicon 20k miles! Everything is done for you, additional braking system for Jeep!
Additional BONUS if Jeep and RV are sold together-keep all supplies (there are NOT like new, they are well loved) propane griddle, all the outdoor 💩💧supplies, additional Jeep supplies AND the Jeep comes with passes for multiple dunes. And I’ll throw in all of the passes for that I have (good for another 6 months). Will also throw in the RV GPS that also has a Dash Cam!

2023.06.10 04:26 Simple-Young6947 Can I afford a pleasure vehicle?

My wife and I are 40. Two children in public grade school. Gross household income is $200,000. Net is $116,000 after insurance and retirement contributions.
I've always wanted a Jeep Wrangler as a "summer car". and my wife says I should "live a little" and not be like my father, who refuses to spend his money on anything. My in-laws farm and I can keep the "other car" there during the season I'm not using it for.
Assets:
Debt/Expenses
I would probably put down $5,000-8,000 and take out a loan on the rest. Max payment would be $350/month. Logicistically I'm not worried about it, I am wondering if it is something we can afford. Thanks!

Watching embeded I remembered this Key & Peele sketche and how religious most of the brazilian fighters are (and big percent of american fighters too) and made a meme about hypocrisy of some fans.
P.S: Wasn't made as an attempt to start a religious, political or any other dispute and wasn't made as an attempt to disrespect any religion or brazilian/american fighters, once again, just a meme about hypocrisy of some fans who are always whining about muslim fighters "bringing religion into sports" but are okay when others do it, haha

2023.06.10 03:43 -White_Lightning- Loud clunk, Tow truck, No start, maybe Fuel Pump?

1997 cherokee XJ 4.0L.
So a few weeks ago on my drive into work, I was speeding up to get onto the highway when there was a loud clunk from the rear of my xj. I lost all power to accelerate and i pulled over and shut it off. While waiting for the tow truck I looked around and there was no obvious damage. No leaks, no broken pieces, no smoke. Nothing.
Once home I checked all of the fluids and they were full and clean. I looked under the jeep and didn't find anything broken, as well as nothing broken under the hood (that I can tell). I checked all of the spark plugs and they are worn, but not damaged or by a piston head or anything.
Right now I simply can't get it to start back up. It'll crank and sputter but I get nothing. I'll give it some gas and it seems to sputter a little more, like it's right on the cusp of turning over, but still nothing.
I bought a fuel injection pressure tester and found out that when I turn the jeep on it'll pressurize up to 45psi, but begin dropping very quickly (down to 20psi in 10 seconds or less). So I'm thinking fuel pump perhaps? Maybe fuel filter is also a factor?
One other thing, I was draining some fuel from the fuel rail using the same tester, and I bypassed the fuel pump to do so. With it bypassed the pressure would be steady at 45psi, and steady at 20psi when draining. Not sure if this helps.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks!
Edit: there are no codes being thrown currently.
