2023.06.08 19:14 birbagel jobs at OSU vet med
So i’m going to be a sophomore this autumn semester and I was wondering if there are any student jobs for the fall semester at the vet medical center? I currently work as a VTA at my local animal hospital but i rly want to continue a VTA related job during the school year. I tried looking at osu vet med website but i honestly couldn’t find much info about jobs and i even looked on workday but they’re all requiring full time or like 6yrs of experience 🥲

2023.05.09 05:31 O_Martalis Summer job for a recent graduate
I just graduated and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a nearby summer job I can work until my full-time job starts in August.
I would prefer something close to campus that isn't retail or food (like a desk job or something). Though if it comes down to it, I'll work whatever. I'm not really picky about pay since my expenses this summer won't be very high.
I tried to find jobs through OSU, but it seems like everything on Workday is either research or only for students. If anyone is aware of any jobs I can work through the university as a recent non-student, or any jobs that fit within my aforementioned preferences, I would appreciate some pointers. Thanks!

2023.01.07 18:06 RJEP22 The 2022 Ultimate College Football Playoff - WEEK 14 RESULTS AND RANKINGS (PLAYOFF ANNOUNCED!)
TLDR: A 40% real, 60% simulated College Football season with conference alignment based on geography and promotion/relegation between inter-conference divisions. Think of it like a really fun "based on a true story" movie.
WARNING!!!! THIS POST IS LONG, SO IF THIS KIND OF CONTENT DOESNT INTEREST YOU, PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! Welcome to the 2022 Season of the Ultimate College Football Playoff, where there are no rules, no politics, and only bad ideas.
The concept is simple. What if there was a world in which the entire FBS was ruled under one entity that decided conference alignment, scheduling, playoff structure, and bowl matchups (all very preposterous I know).
In my world, I am that ruling entity and I have set out to find, in my idea, the most ideal way to set up the college football landscape with one goal in mind:
FUN (parity was a secondary goal, but idea is that "more parity = more fun").

CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND
I have attemted to create the ultimate college football championship weekend. With 12 games being played, and all of them having a direct impact on the playoffs and future conference alignment, I aimed to create a viewing experience that would rival the opening weekend of march madness.
- Games would have taken place over Friday and Saturday, December 1-2, 2022.
- Six games on Friday, Six on Saturday.
- Kickoff times: 12:00, 2:00, 4:00, 6:00, 8:00, 10:00 PM EST
- This way, as each game ends, the next game should be entering the second half. Barring overtime, only two games would ever be on at once, meaning dedicated viewers will never miss a minute of the action.
FRIDAY SLATE - Becuase Friday is still part of the workday, the four working hours kickoff slots consist of Lower Division games, as those will inherently command lower viewership and add demand. However, just like march madness, they make great games to have on the radio or a second monitor during the day get you excited for the prime time games.
- The ACC and PMC get the Upper Division action started on Friday Night. I want to give each conference a primetime viewing slot, and the Pac12 already likes to own Friday night, so it makes sense to give them the late night slot, so people on the west coast can watch during primetime.
- The ACC Championship would likely be the least hyped up matchup, but it would still be a huge game, and deserving of the Friday primetime slot.
- 12:00 PM EST: APC Lower Division Championship Game
- 2:00 PM EST: SEC Lower Division Championship Game
- 4:00 PM EST: SWC Lower Division Championship Game
- 6:00 PM EST: MWC Lower Division Championship Game
- 8:00 PM EST: ACC Championship Game
- 10:00 PM EST: PMC Championship Game
SATURDAY SLATE - Saturday is the day for College football, so it gets stacked with the four biggest Conference Championships sandwiched between two Lower Division games.
- The Big12 currently owns the noon slate, so it makes sense to start with the SWC Championship, but they get bumped to 2pm to make it an afternoon kickoff in Arlington. I think everyone will thank me for that.
- The SEC Championship kicked off at 4pm this year, and being the only real matchup carried over into this universe, its kickoff time remains the same.
- The two main primtime slots go to middle America, as the APC gets the newly created 6pm slot, while the MWC takes over the currently Big10 owned 8pm slot.
- 12:00 PM EST: ACC Lower Division Championship Game
- 2:00 PM EST: SWC Championship Game
- 4:00 PM EST: SEC Championship Game
- 6:00 PM EST: APC Championship Game
- 8:00 PM EST: MWC Championship Game
- 10:00 PM EST: PMC Lower Division Championship Game
NOW LETS GET INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND ACTION
I have orded these games in the same way they would have been expereienced over the course of the weekend. I will do my best to provide storylines and big moments as they would have happened based on the order of the action. I will be simulating these games in the order they would have occurred to make it as immersive as possible for both myself and you. Up first is the APC Lower Division Championship in Nashville!
APPALACHIAN CONFERENCE LOWER DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2022, 12:00 PM EST #16 Syracuse | Western Kentucky |
30 | 26 |
- Syracuse gets the first win of championship weekend over the Hilltoppers in a hard fought battle. Western Kentucky led 10-8 in the middle of the 2nd Quarter, but the Orange then went on a 17-6 run to lead 25-16 midway through the third. After Syrcasue forced a safety, WKU came back with a touchdown to cut it to one, but the Orange scored the final points on a field goal with less than a minute to go. The Hilltoppers were not able to get it down the field and score in time, as time expired after a sack.
- Syracuse will now play Virginia for the spot in the Upper Division next year.
- With championship weekend off to a hot start, we head to Atlanta for the SEC Lower Division Championship!
SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE LOWER DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2022, 2:00 PM EST - Welcome to the field goal fest that was Tulane vs Troy. The Green Wave hold on after taking a late lead over the Trojans. This game featured 9 field goals between the two teams. Tulane had an early 9-8 lead, but a 9-0 run by Troy made it 17-9 Trojans early in the third. Tulane answered with a touchdown to cut it to one, and then the two teams traded field goals to maintain the deficit at 19-20. Tulane took the lead for good early in the fourth, but missed the 2pt conversion that would have extended the lead to 7. Instead they lead was 5 and with 3 minutes left, Troy elected to take the points and kick another field goal to cut it to two, but their defense couldn't get them the ball back and the Green Wave was able to kneel it out.
- A red hot Tulane team will now get the chance to boot Louisiana from the Upper Division.
- Two great games down and still four more to go on friday. Not a lot of work getting done with games like these going on! Now onto the Southwestern Lower Division Championship in Arlington.
SOUTHWESTERN CONFERENCE LOWER DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2022, 4:00 PM EST #25 Texas Tech | SMU |
41 - OT | 34 |
- What a game we had in Jerry world involving the Mustangs, the Red Raiders, and our first overtime of the postseason. This game went back and forth, with SMU leading 11-3 early, but then Texas Tech went on a 14-0 run to take a 17-11 lead into halftime. The Stangs then opened the second half with their own 17-7 run to hold a 28-24 lead going into the fourth. The teams then traded field goals to keep the deficit the same, but Texas Tech scored with 47 seconds left to seemingly put the game away at 34-31, but SMU used their two remaining timeouts effectively and was able to get into field goal range, where they kicked a 43 yard game tying field goal as the clock expired. In overtime, the Red Raiders scored on the second play on a QB run, and the defense then stepped up with a game winning interception on 2nd and goal. Instant Classic.
- Texas Tech now has to face Arizona State with a spot in the Upper Division on the line.
- People in the east are getting off work and heading for home just as the MWC Lower Division Championship is kicking off in Indianapolis!
MIDWESTERN CONFERENCE LOWER DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2022, 6:00 PM EST #22 Illinois | Toledo |
30 | 18 |
- This was a classic grind it out, bend don't break win for Illinois. Toledo had 8 trips into plus-territory and only came away with 6 field goals, 1 INT, and a Turnover on downs. Illinois led 11-9 at the break in a defense filled first half, but opened the third quarter with a long touchdown drive to take command of the game 18-9. Toledo kept responding with field goals and only trailed by 5 going into the fourth quarter. After a Illini field goal, the Rockets again responded with another of their own, but an Illinois touchdown midway through the fourth quarter put the game to bed. Toledo could no longer settle for taking the points, and turned the ball over on downs to allow Illinois to run out the clock.
- The Fighting Illini now have a date with Michigan State to see which program will be heartbroken in 2023.
- With primtime hitting the east coast and west coast people heading for the parking lot, the first Upper Division championship is set to kick off in Charlotte!
ATLANTIC COASTAL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2022, 8:00 PM EST #8 Florida State | #19 Maryland |
33 | 28 |
- The one thing we have yet to have all day is a historic collapse and Maryland provided it for us. This game was back and forth for the first half, but the Terps ended the half with and Touchdown and opened the third quarter with one as well to jump out to a 28-17 lead. The game looked in hand for them but the Noles got back in the game with a Touchdown just before the end of the third. From there Maryland would never score another point, while Mike Norvell kept making the conservative, yet untilmately correct, decision of taking the points. FSU kicked field goals on three straight drives in the fourth to take a 33-28 lead that they would not give up. After racing out to 28 points, the Terps would end the game on 2 punts, 1 INT, and a turnover on downs.
- Florida State was likely already in, but now they have a chance to push for a 1st Round Bye if other results fall their way. With the heartbreaking loss, Maryland's dream season comes to an end after being just one quarter away from the playoffs.
- It's late on the east coast, but out west the part is just getting started and the biggest event in Vegas is set to kick-off, lets head on over to the PMC Championship!
PACIFIC MOUNTAIN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2022, 10:00 PM EST - We have our first upset of the day in the night-cap, as Oregon takes down USC in an instant classic! The teams traded blows in the first half. Oregon had the better oppotunities, but only came away with a touchdown and 5 field goals to lead 19-17 at the half. The Ducks opened the 2nd half with another field goal, but the Trojans responded with a TD and elected to go for 2 to take a 25-22 lead. Near the end of the third, Oregon was finally able to punch it in, but a blocked extra point kept the margin at 3, 28-25. USC added a field goal to tie it at 28 heading into the fourth. Oregon struck next with a touchdown, but USC only needed 3 plays to hit back with one of their own to tie it at 35. With just under 4 minutes left, a costly Oregon INT gave USC great field position, but the Ducks only gave up a field goal. With a minute left, Oregon drove right down the field to kick a game tying FG to send the game into overtime! USC got the ball first and scored a touchdown right away. On Oregon's posession, a 4th and goal reverse play put the Ducks an extra point away from a 2nd overtime. Instead Dan Lanning elected to go for two, and a Bo Nix run gave Oregon the win!
- With the win, Oregon securs a spot in the playoff, but USC will likely still get to host a first round game.
- Day 1 of Championship weekend has come to a close, and gave us six competitve and exciting games. 3 of the 12 playoff spots are filled, and Saturday will give us the remaining 9, as well as fill out the final promotional matchups
ATLANTIC COASTAL CONFERENCE LOWER DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2022, 12:00 PM EST - Saturday gets off to a hot start as Duke gets the win over East Carolina in another close game! Like many of the other games we have seen, this game came down to who could score touchdown and who would have to settle for field goals. After a dead even first have that went to the break with Duke up 17-16, ECU opened the second half with two straight field goals to lead 22-17. Then the Blue Devils answered with a touchdown and 2pt conversion to extend the lead to 25-22. The Pirates were then finally able to punch the ball in the endzone to take a four point lead at the start of the fourth, but it would be the last points they scored. Duke ended the game on a 9-0 run after kicking a field goal and scoring a touchdown, missing the 2pt conversion that would've given them a 7 point lead. In the end ECU ran out of gas and couldn't continue settling for field goals.
- With the win, Duke now gets to play a dissappointing Boston College team to detemine who will play in the Upper Division next year.
- With the appetizer finished, we shift our focus back to the upper division as a rejuvinated Texas team takes on the undefeated Hypnotoad in Arlington!
SOUTHWESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2022, 2:00 PM EST - Many wondered how TCU would fare in a rematch to a resurgent Texas team, and the Horned Frogs showed up! A tight first half ended with TCU having a 19-18 lead at the break. In the second half the TCU exploded as it has all year as they raced out to a 33-18 lead in the third quarter. Texas tried to comeback with a touchdown to end the third and cut it to seven, but the Frogs answered again with one of their own. A final Texas touchdown with 6 minutes remianing gave them life, but a TCU field goal on the next drive put the game out of reach, and a Quinn Ewers INT sealed the game for the Horned Frogs.
- Alabama did not get the blowout they needed to jump Texas, so the Longhorns are still safe at #12. With Maryland losing to FSU, Texas should be set to make the playoffs, as no other teams below them have the chance to jump above them.
- Finally we get a non-simulated matchup in the SEC Championship Game as LSU looks to take down the defending champs in Atlanta!
SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2022, 4:00 PM EST - We all saw this game as it occurred, but just to recap, LSU was able to play with the Dawgs for the first 15 minutes, as they only trailed by seven at the end of the first quarter. Then three straight Georgia touchdowns in the second quarter gave them a 35-10 halftime lead that could not be overcame, despite the Tigers winning the second half 20-15. LSU had the lead cut to 19 going into the fourth but an immediate Georgia touchdown put the game away for good.
- The Dawgs roll and will be no lower than #3 in the final rankings, while LSU will likely slip to #11 in the final rankings.
- Now onto the highly anticipated APC Championship in Nashville!
APPALACHIAN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2022, 6:00 PM EST #3 Tennessee | #7 Penn State |
41 | 43 - 2OT |
- WHAT. A. GAME. I only wish this could've actually happened. To provide context, whenver the score is tied after 3 simulations, I do one more sim to pick a winner in overtime, however if the score of the that fourth sim is decided by 1 point or fewer, then the game goes to another overtime. For this matchup, it took 5 sims (2 Overtimes) to decide a winner! This game was an absolute shootout, not a single field goal was kicked! Tennessee raced out to a 14-0 lead, but Penn State cut the lead to seven right before the half. The Vols got the ball coming out of the half and extended the lead to 21-7. From there, Penn State went on a 21-0 run to take control of the game at 28-21 with 8 minutes to go. After going scoreless for much of the second half, Tennessee was finally able to punch it in the endzone to tie it up at 28 and get the game to overtime. In the first overtime, both teams traded touchdowns to force a 2nd overtime where Penn State got the ball first and scored quickly to go up 43-35 after the 2pt conversion. Tennessee followed it up with a touchdown of their own on third and goal, but Hendon Hookers 2pt conversion throw fell incomplete out of the back of the endzone. Nittany Lions win!
- Tennessee will be in the playoff, but lost their first round bye. Oh well, I guess a home game in Knoxville will have to suffice. On the other hand, Penn State will likely get the last first round bye, with TCU, Georgia, and the MWC champion.
- Speaking of the MWC, The Game Pt. II is kicking off in Indianapolis and soon the final conference champion will be crowned!
MIDWESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2022, 8:00 PM EST #1 Michigan | #4 Ohio State |
20 | 35 |
- This game went about the exact opposite as the first game went. My flair will tell you that I am well versed in both of these teams and the many ways a game script between them can go (and has gone). The way to beat Ohio State is limit possessions, make Stroud uncomfortable, and make the Buckeyes kick field goals. On the defensive side, Jim Knowles will bring pressure and provide you with 1-on-1 home run opportunities on the outside. All of these were things that Michigan got right in the real game this year, but they were not able to replicate that success in this simulated matchup. Instead Ohio State was able to score 5 touchdowns on 5 red zone trips, and was also able to limit the big plays, as J.J. McCarthy did not have the accuracy under pressure that he had in November. After a slow first half that ended with a 14-6 OSU lead, Michigan was able to tie it up coming out of the half with a Touchdown and 2pt conversion. From there, Ohio State was able to score 3 touchdowns, while Michigan was only able to muster two field goals. Their second cut the lead to 8, but a final Marvin Harrison Jr. TD put the game to bed. These two teams could very well meet again in real life and in the simulated playoff, and who the hell knows how it will go.
- The Buckeyes grab the final first round Bye and will likely be #2 in the final rankings. For Michigan, hosting a home playoff game in the middle of a winter storm is certainly not a punishment for this team, especiually if they get matched up with a warm weather opponent.
- With all of the playoff relevant results decided, we shift our focus to a worthy nightcap, in which a PMC Lower Division Champion will be crowned in Vegas!
PACIFIC MOUNTAIN CONFERENCE LOWER DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP GAME - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2022, 10:00 PM EST #17 Oregon State | Cal |
37 | 22 |
- Unfortunately, Cal never really had much of a chance in this game. The regular season matchup was a 28 point real life Oregon State win, and this game pretty much felt the same way. Save for a 15 point Golden Bears run in the second half, aided by an onside kick recovery, the Beavers were in control from start to finish. Oregon State raced out to a 20-7 lead at the half and only added to that in the third quarter, extending the lead to 30-7 before Cal finally woke up. After a successful 2pt conversion midway though the fourth, that cut the score to 30-22, the Beavs put the game away with one final touchdown.
- The win for Oregon State sets up a date with Stanford to see who will play in the Upper Division next year.
Champioship weekend has come to a close and it's time to calculate the final Points Standings. What we know forsure at this point are the six conference champions that have secured Auto-bids, and the remaining seven teams hoping for those final six at-large bids. PLAYOFF AND PROMOTIONAL MATCHUPS
PLAYOFF TEAMS - #1 Georgia (12-1) SEC Champion
- #2 TCU (13-0) SWC Champion
- #3 Ohio State (12-1) MWC Champion
- #4 Penn State (12-1) APC Champion
- #5 Michigan (12-1) At-Large
- #6 Tennessee (12-1) At-Large
- #7 USC (11-2) At-Large
- #8 Florida State (11-2) ACC Champion
- #9 Oregon (10-3) PMC Champion

PLAYOFF MATCHUPS FIRST ROUND | QUARTERFINALS | | QUARTERFINALS | FIRST ROUND |
| #1 Georgia | | #2 TCU | |
#8 Florida State vs #9 Oregon | Winner plays Georgia | | Winner plays TCU | #7 USC vs #10 Utah |

#5 Michigan vs #12 Texas | Winner plays Penn State | | Winner plays Ohio State | #6 Tennessee vs #11 LSU |
| #4 Penn State | | #3 Ohio State | |
- A lot to like about this playoff bracket, namely all the massive brands and matchups that qualified and the atmospheres that the first round would bring.
- Michigan vs Texas might be the biggest and most competitive 5-vs-12 matchup we might ever see. The Longhorns having to travel to Ann Arbor and play in negative wind chill is all you need to sell this game.
- Florida State vs Oregon is the battle of the "other Conference Champions" who were unable to get a first round bye. Oregon would be traveling from one corner of the country to the other to try and knockoff a resurgetn Florida State team.
- USC vs Utah is a rematch we got in real life, but not one we got in this universe, but we get it here in the playoffs, and in the Coliseum too!
- Tennessee vs LSU. A battle of old SEC foes in Knoxville. Both fanbases are rabid and will show out for this one. Pray for the goalposts!
PROMOTIONAL MATCHUPS - Birmingham Bowl: Louisiana vs Tulane
- Quick Lane Bowl: Michigan State vs #19 Illinois
- Citrus Bowl: Boston College vs Duke
- Alamo Bowl: Arizona State vs #20 Texas Tech
- Holiday Bowl: Stanford vs #17 Oregon State
- Music City Bowl: Virginia vs #13 Syracuse
We could be looking at 6 promoted teams this year, as all of the Lower Division teams are likely to be favorites in their matchups. This could be the year of historical Power 5 programs reclaiming their seats in the Upper Divisions.
STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT POST WHERE I SIMULATE THE FIRST ROUND OF PLAYOFF GAMES AND THE PROMOTIONAL ROUND GAMES!

2022.08.22 22:26 mymeIodyy Patient Care Jobs on Workday
I’ve been applying to a bunch of patient care associate jobs on the Workday website, but haven’t heard back in awhile. I heard it takes months for people to hear back from OSU or Wexner HR and was just wondering is there a way to speed the process up. Or does anyone know any places actively hiring for patient care jobs. Just been looking a lot for jobs to get patient care experience and haven’t found much luck. Any tips are appreciated !

2022.06.14 23:54 Sudden_Profession606 Hiring Process For Student Jobs
So I applied to a couple of on campus jobs I'm interested in but have had a frustrating experience during the hiring process. I got offered an interview for a library job 4 months after I had originally applied. I had a job at the time and turned it down but now that I'm looking to focus on school, I decided to transition into a student job at the school for summefall terms. I had a person contact me about a job I inquired about, asked for the hours I could work and asked me to apply through WorkDay as a formality. I have not heard back from them in 2-weeks and I'm baffled as to why. I applied to a few other positions now and have been waiting a few days on some and a week-plus on others. Has anybody else had similar experiences with the hiring process with OSU or am I doing something wrong during the process? Any input would be appreciated.

2022.04.10 04:32 leaf-of-eons My classes are...gone?
UPDATE 1: SO I called tech support and they gave me a vague "since you just got a job through workday the system might be having a fit if it doesn't fix itself by Tuesday give me a call back", but my professors are understanding and I was able to reschedule some assignments. So now it's the waiting game.
Okay so this is a bananas experience that I've been dealing with since this morning.
I opened the Carmen app to check a due date and none of my classes were showing up. I attributed this to a bug with the app and opened the OSU app, where I got a "there are no classes available for your account". I thought "that's weird" and opened Carmen on my laptop.
Screenshot is attached but I don't even have the option to enable classes for SP22 anymore.
Second screenshot is the error message I got when I tried to log into BuckeyeLink through the student portal like I always do. I can still access everything on Carmen like normal - old classes, inbox, etc. - but nothing is showing up for this semester. I can't even get into BuckeyeLink to see what's up.
I emailed BuckeyeLink since they're closed on the weekends, but since they're closed on the weekends, I don't expect a response until at
least Monday or later, but I know I have homework and this is stressing me out.
I've gotten no emails saying "hey here's a thing you need to do or we'll kick you out", I've not been dealing with academic probation (my grades are really good this sem actually i'm proud of that) or student legal or anything, and all of this stuff worked at 9pm on Friday night when I last checked my Carmen to-dos. I don't remember suddenly dropping out of school, and I can still access my email, the OSU app has an up-to-date transaction history for my BuckID...
Is this just a technical glitch? Am I going bananas? Is there someone else to reach out to?

2022.03.02 16:02 TheRayneMaster I think I got screwed out of 6 hours of pay from campus dining…
I have a work study position, but I can only work so much, so I decided to pick up an extra job to stay on top of my tuition payments. I decided to get the job on campus since I’m still living in the dorms. Last week, I had my orientation, and I could not clock into their machines. The person in charge of my orientation told me that was normal for students with multiple campus jobs, but she said she would contact a higher up and make sure I got the hour documented.
When I went to my first shift, I also could not clock in, so I talked to one of the people in charge, and she told me she would write down when I came in, and also told me to make sure to write in when I left on a clipboard. It was a five hour shift, and I made sure to do both of those things. By my second shift that week, I could finally clock into the system normally.
For this job, we have to make sure to submit our hours by Saturday night. I kind of lost track of time, but I still got the hours in time late that night. When I went to go submit, I saw that all the hours I had needed someone else to add were not there. It was too late to say something now, so all I could do was submit and email someone to get them processed. I did that Sunday morning. I got an email from workday saying my second shift hours got approved, but I didn’t hear back on the other shift.
I decided after a few days I’d check in about the hours. I didn’t get the chance, because Tuesday morning my OTHER boss told me to make sure to submit my hours ASAP before HR refuses to accept them. I was confused, since when I submitted hours on Saturday, that was for ALL hours worked on campus. I checked, and apparently my other hours were added without anyone letting me know. When your time is modified, it automatically unsubmits your hours worked. Not only that, but they literally added the hours to my OTHER job instead! We aren’t allowed to modify our own hours for that job, but I had to fix the position thing or else I was going to be screwed out of $200. I just emailed my boss for my campus dining job, explaining what I had to do.
There’s still been no confirmation on whether or not my 6 hours ever got approve after I submitted it. I think it’s just out of everyone’s hands now, and that really sucks. I did everything I was supposed to, and still got fucked over by my new job. Everyone there is so nice too! I have my first shift after this whole fiasco today, and I think this is just gonna hang on my mind the entire time. OSU can be such a frustrating shit house, whether it’s in terms of academics or working.
Edit: Thank you everyone who gave me advice on how I can for sure get this money. I’m glad I posted this, because before I was willing to just be passive and complacent, thinking there wasn’t anything more I can do. Thanks again for the help :)

2022.02.20 01:14 Ohitsmelmao Workday via OSU
Hi guys, is anyone familiar with how Workday works through osu? I’m trying to apply to a job for the autumn semester (so the position doesn’t go away) but I want to make that clear except I can’t seem to find any contact information about the employer. Should I worry about this or go ahead and apply, and notify the employer during an interview— I just don’t know how this process works and given that I’m a student I want to be sure to schedule around my schedule… any insight is helpful. Thank you.

2022.01.18 00:03 PuzzleheadedLog6253 How Long Should I Wait To Hear Back From OSU For Student Employment on Workday?
I applied for a student job on Workday last week and I'm getting kinda antsy because I want to know if I got the job or not. I applied for a job via the RPAC last year and it still says my application is under review so I'm not sure the timeline on when I should hear back about this new, different job with a different department. Anyone have any idea? When would be too soon to reach out to the department and ask about it?

2022.01.09 06:09 profbard Does your degree matter once you have a job?
I got a non-CS bachelors in spring 2020. I got an associates in software dev (a two year technical degree in programming, without CS concepts). I currently have a job as a SWE. I’m thinking about going back to school either in a year or so (to be in school while I’m still at a great company to maybe finish a degree before changing jobs), or in several years.
This is probably partially imposter syndrome, but I feel like I’ll struggle to keep up as a dev if I don’t have an understanding of the core cs concepts a degree gives you. I do genuinely enjoy CS concepts and am planning on self teaching regardless, but should I be working on getting a degree even though I’ve got my first job? (And hopefully one I want to stay at for a few years?)
Bonus question, if I have no college math classes, is it better for me to look at CS second bachelors (or something like the OSU postbacc) or a masters? I don’t have the prereqs for a masters right away, which makes me feel like I need the bachelors anyway. There’s a CS bachelors capstone (4 core CS classes) that feeds into a “professional masters” near me at a great school, but it’s all in-person and they don’t have any classes not during the workday…
TIA for entertaining another degrees question, I was just having trouble finding threads about people who are already working in-industry.
(Also, pardon my flair, I am a junior with ~6mos experience, but didn’t feel this was a new grad topic)

I applied for 4 positions on workday at OSU Medical Center and Columbus Campus almost 2 weeks ago, but still haven’t heard back from any of them. It says the status of the application is under review but I am worried. How would I reach out to the person in charge of the position? Is there usually a contact email present on the position desc?

2021.07.28 09:07 13sonic Where is the best spot to play some high level bball in the city?
A couple years ago I used to play with the OSU men's basketball team at the arpac and in their facility during practice ( one of the assistant coaches was a family friend who let me ball with the boys).
I played division two basketball in Virginia, although I'm not NBA level good, I do have some pride in my skills. I just wanna play with guys who feel the same about themselves and are more skilled than I am. I envy the guys who play Soccer. Whenever I pass by the Westerville sports complex I see these guys playing a highly competitive game of soccer with no bullshit. Whenever I'm out walking my kids I see them sometimes and I just get lost in their game. Little to no arguments
I haven't played bball in 2 years and getting into the groove again. I shoot around with my little kids at the park but that's it.
I've noticed so many places in the city has some immature guys (regardless of age). Lifetime In Easton and YMCA ok n northland has some good guys who can hoop but majority of the guys aren't that good, can't handle trash talk (end up fighting), constantly argue for fouls. I come there to relieve stress from the workday and have fun, these guys ruin it to the point where most of the normal dudes just bounce.
Idk, maybe I'm going there at a time when the legit guys aren't there.
Anyways, I'm wondering where do you guys go to hoop? Places where there are legit ballers who respect the game and each other. Mature and skilled fellas. Obviously there will be occasional arguments, I ain't got no problem with that, shit happens. Im not a super social dude that's why I'm here on this subreddit😂. I'd appreciate some tips guys. Where are the hotspots, best time and day?

2021.06.20 22:29 Ok-Recommendation941 Ohio State Outpatient Care New Albany - Job Postings?
Did I miss the job postings for the new OSU Outpatient Care Center that just got built off 161 in New Albany? I know a ton of Med Center people who live East will jump ship because it is closer and you don't have to deal with the hellscape that is Main campus parking. But I still expected to see job postings...and I think it is about ready to open?
I didn't see a location for it on the jobs site, but Workday is a damn mess. There is a "remote" site with random postings, but I didn't see anything in there either.
Or perhaps I missed to boat on this one. If anyone knows, that would be great!

Millersport Coffee Community Market MORE EVENTS! TOO MANY TO LIST!
Or how I learned to stop trying to list every event and just give you guys the sources I'm working with.
The City of Columbus Community Center lists dozens of hobbies and sports events for children and adults that you can attend for free.
Columbus on the Cheap creates a weekly list updated every Wednesday night detailing tons of free or cheap events that can be done around town.
The Columbus Dispatch Entertainment section posts your "Best Bets" for the weekend every Thursday morning and the Columbus Navigator also provides news articles about upcoming performances. The Columbus Underground has their own event section to watch as well.
Columbus Makes Art lists various concerts, art displays, and other artistic events.
Meetup, Goldstar Events, Eventbrite and Facebook are a great source to search for events. If you're looking for events local to you, I'd suggest searching Google Maps for local bars and pubs, then looking up their websites or Facebook pages where they'll often have weekly events.
Safety
Coronavirus / COVID - As more people get the COVID-19 vaccine, the risks levels will change for each person depending on their own health. You must make your own decision on what you’re comfortable with. I offer no recommendation and no guarantee on the COVID Cleaning and Health protocols for any individual event. Please read and observe any COVID related safety protocols each individual event may have.
How Events are Picked
This is not a comprehensive list of events, just what I thought was interesting. If you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments. I will not be able to list every event, partially due to limits on the size of Reddit posts, and partially because I can only devote so much time to putting together this list.
Looking for events more than a week out?
To help organize and plan out this list I have a PREVIEW of events coming more than a week out posted on my Reddit Profile. Keep in mind that there could be some inaccurate information the further out you go, so be sure to track the event page in case there are last minute changes.
If you find any broken links, misspellings, or inaccurate information, please let me know. Thanks.

2021.04.03 20:43 Invisible-Gorilla13 OSU staff email access removed?
Hey all, I tried to search for this and I didn’t see anything helpful. I just quit (as of yesterday) and was assured my OSU staff email would remain open as I have A LOT of stuff on there I’m actively assisting the new person taking over my role even after I leave. Now it says I don’t have access to it at all, and same with workday (can’t even submit my final time sheet).
I’ve already called, left messages, and emailed several departments but I wanted to see if anyone here had experience with this.

2021.03.20 17:38 an_amount_of_carrot So wait, is it possible to take on-campus classes?
I was just recently admitted to the online postbac for Summer '21 (woo!). I'd assumed that we're restricted to online courses, since the postbac is specifically denoted as (Online) everywhere on the OSU site. But is that not the case? Reading around this sub, it seems like a few people have taken courses on campus.
I'm an Oregon resident, and looking at the tuition it appears I could save about 50% per credit by taking classes fully in-person. And I can work from home, so moving to Corvallis is actually pretty realistic (even if I'd have to wrangle the class schedules a bit around my workday). Anyone ever asked around about this or given it a shot?
