2023.06.05 06:22 CreeperTacoBoss 12 role ideas I initially rejected
These are role ideas I had a bit ago, but I rejected them before posting for various reasons. But if we get that "all any chaos" mode I suggested in an earlier post, then I feel these might actually be viable and cool editions. Here we go.
Idea #1 - Forcaster
This is a town support
This role gets a one use day ability where they can prevent a full moon the following night
They also have a three use night ability where they summon rain on someone's house the next day.
When rain is summoned on someone that player, does not come out the following day. Meaning they cannot vote, be voted, count towards the majority vote, or use a day ability. However, that player can still speak and see chat.
Reason for rejection: sounded kinda boring
Idea #2 - Diener
This is a coven deception
This role gets a 3 use night ability where the fake the cause of death of another player.
Reason for rejection: I made the psuedosidist
Idea #3 - Kidnapper
This is a coven killing
Every day they select a player to kidnap. That player will be effectivly jailed, only instead of seeing bars they see chains. That player can see coven chat (coven are annominous obvi) and the coven can see them chat. 3 times, the kidnapper can choose to terminate the kidnapped. That is upgraded to no choice but to terminate should the kidnapper posses the necronomicon.
If they terminate while possessing the necronomicon, it will say "killed by coven" otherwise it will be very explicit what killed them.
Reason for rejection: felt overpowered
Idea #4 - Introvert
This is a coven killing
4 nights they can go on alert and kill all visitors
Visitors will "go missing" and their role/last will are hidden.
Reason for rejection: its a copy paste of the original medusa
Idea #5 - Blackmailer
This is a coven something
Every night, pick someone to blackmail. That person will then be forced to vote the same as you during trials. They won't know they are blackmailed until a trial verdict comes in.
They can also read wispers.
Reason for rejection: felt kinda lame at the time I came up with it
Idea #6 - Consiglierie
This is a coven something
Every night, pick a player to investigate. You will know that players exact role, who they visited that night, and who visited them that night.
Reason for rejection: Potion Master reveal potion
Note before moving on: the next 5 roles are similar in nature, all rejected for being overpowered. These were all in their own sub-faction called "town leader"
Idea #7 - Cheif
This is the leader of the town investigatives. On day 1, they receive a count of exactly how many town investigatives there are in town.
Every night they can enhance investigative power. When they use their ability they select a spacific investigative role to enhance. They they can only enhance one role per night. Once a role is enhanced, the effect from the enhance is worn off the next night. They cannot enhance the same role twice in a row.
Enhanced seer can get the exact allignment of both targets ONLY IF they are enemies
Enhanced investigator becomes resistent to enchants
and so on...
I am not coming up with something for every investigative right now.
Idea #8 - Govoner
This is the leader of the town protectives. On day 1, they receive a count of exactly how many town protectives there are in town.
Every night they can enhance protective power. When they use their ability they select a spacific protective role to enhance. They they can only enhance one role per night. Once a role is enhanced, the effect from the enhance is worn off the next night. They cannot enhance the same role twice in a row.
Enhanced bodyguard doesn't die defending their target
Enhanced crusader will not attack town
and so on...
I am not coming up with something for every protective right now.
Idea #9 - Senator
This is the leader of the town supports. On day 1, they receive a count of exactly how many town supports there are in town.
Every night they can enhance supportive power. When they use their ability they select a spacific support role to enhance. They they can only enhance one role per night. Once a role is enhanced, the effect from the enhance is worn off the next night. They cannot enhance the same role twice in a row.
Enhanced retributionist can raise a non-town the next night (cuz a little late for this night)
Enhanced admirer will escape a toxic relationship (assuming it started night of)
and so on...
I am not coming up with something for every support right now.
Idea #10 - General
This is the leader of the town killings. On day 1, they receive a count of exactly how many town killings there are in town.
Every night they can enhance killing power. When they use their ability they select a spacific killing role to enhance. They they can only enhance one role per night. Once a role is enhanced, the effect from the enhance is worn off the next night. They cannot enhance the same role twice in a row.
Enhanced vigilante will upgrade to powerful attack
Enhanced veteran will avoid killing townies
and so on...
I am not coming up with something for every killing right now.
Idea #11 - President
This is the leader of the town powers. On day 1, they receive a count of exactly how many town powers there are in town.
Every night they can enhance powerful power. When they use their ability they select a spacific power role to enhance. They they can only enhance one role per night. Once a role is enhanced, the effect from the enhance is worn off the next night. They cannot enhance the same role twice in a row.
Enhanced monarch will stop knighting if the person their trying to knight is evil
Enhanced jailor will be safe from their jailed target attacking them
and so on...
I am not coming up with something for every power right now.
And Finally....
Idea #12 - Bully
This is a nuetral evil
Every night, they select a player to bully. That player wont be "attacked", but they will be beat so bad they fail to perform their nightly ability AND cannot speak the next day.
The bully can never bully the same player twice.
Once every living player in the town has been bullied, the bully becomes ultra powerful, transforms, and a boss fight sequence begins.
Every player (no matter the role) must team up to kill the bully while the bully tries to kill them.
The civilians job is to pick up tomatoes and hurl them at the bully to deal damage. The bullies job is to kill them all with special attacks.
Should the bully be defeated, the game will resume as normal, except everyone the bully murdered is still dead. Oh well. If the bully kills everyone else, they win.
Reason for rejection: boss fight sequence

2023.06.05 06:12 herbeatupbirkin Should we type brands too?
I mean there's style logic behind the designs and overall philosophy, right? And I think they're pretty consistent as well ofc under the same creative direction.
There's a huge difference between Tom Ford's Gucci and Alessandro Michele's. There creative direction is formed by different style logics.
Both Coco's and Karl's Chanel I think are RU, just of different archetypes.
Miumiu seems to be RD. Louis Vuitton too! Celine as well, hence choosing Lalisa as their Brand Ambassador whom I think is an Illuminatrix.
I haven't yet studied Saint Laurent, but I feel like Yves/YSL himself came from LU logic (but then again, I could be wrong). Tho I really find the brand to be L based.
I know designers could possibly have different style logics from their visions and designs. Well, sometimes. I think that's much rarer and less likely tho. In fact, their designs could actually be the true representation of their aesthetic or a more accurate visual representation of their style logic (in case they feel they can't carry it themselves and the runway is their outlet). Like they express their real style through their designs, maybe.
But a good example of this is The Olsen Sisters🥂
Their aesthetic is so RD but their style logics is different. So they have their own take of the quadrant, just expressed more true to home or origins (RD) in their designs and brand ideals.
The Row is by MK (LU) and Ash (RU) and their brand is more of an elevated RD. It seems to be focused on experience rather than impression despite both of them being impression-based in terms their personal style logic. They mentioned that they wanted to create timeless and foundational pieces because they wanted a quality base for other designer pieces.
They started with the perfect t-shirt and emphasize a lot on the importance of quality and comfort. I believe their focus is on giving their clientele a comfortable and quality experience. To feel at home. Literally some of their shops are houses in exclusive neighborhoods with clothes placed in normal shelves making it feel like you're shopping in the comfort of your own home.
Ashley is more responsible for the business side and Mary Kate, the creative side. Mary-Kate despite being an LU, seems to be more an the down side of it. The Row's focus on refinement and timelessness is rooted in Ashley's R logic, while the preference for comfort and experience is rooted in Mary Kate's. It is L because it's based on the desire to ensure convenience for the wearer's body and focused on making sure she feels good in the clothing pieces. Their logics combined, you get an elevated RD! Fascinating. I love how it's up yet down at the same time. Sensual yet refined. Innovative yet quiet. Contemporary yet classic.

2023.06.05 06:07 lankylanklank How have you experienced bigotry on campus?
After watching the new spider man movie and how well POC were handled/represented it got me thinking about if our actual world is even like that. While in most ways I would say yes, something happens every once in a while that makes me remember that there is still a lot of prejudice in this world.
The moment that has stuck with me the most in my time at UMD was when I was eating outside the spot on the benches near T row and a Toyota Camry full of white guys pulled up and stopped in front of me and just started making "Indian" noises (I don't even know what you would call it, imagine the first five seconds of this clip:
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/14H4Q1qsN8o). I told them to fuck off and they just stared at me in silence and drove away.
So I wanna hear from you guys: what are your instances where you realized that there is a presence of racism and/or bigotry at our University? Is there really anything we can actually do about it?

Wiki
Never before had Rapier stood witness to such an enormous fleet mustered in one location. Dozens of assault carriers and troopships, over three hundred battleships and cruisers, and each one of these capital craft were surrounded by ten frigates for close-in defense. This was the Armada of the Small of which Wakizashi spoke.
Rapier gazed out of the bridge, captivated by the shifting lights in the distance. Such a show of force had surely been ordered by Her Dominance herself, but it was grounds for worry. Not since the war against the great machine empire of the Upsilon had a force so large been raised, and for a moment he wondered what that meant about the current conflict. Then, he expunged doubt from his mind. He may have had his misgivings with his immediate superiors, but his faith in his sovereign, like most Poslushi of the day, remained unshaken. If the great Katana II wished it done, it had to be for good reason.
On a somewhat more relieving note, Rapier had been all but relieved of duty. Overbattlematron Dao of the Oxilini Brood had assumed joint command of the fleet with Wakizashi, but the Tethylen and her escorts would remain as the spearhead of their offensive, joined by a strike group of battleships and carriers.
“You know, this is only about a tenth of our might. Even if we subtract ten thousand of our craft for border patrols, ten thousand more for Judge retinues, and a generous twenty thousand for policing, that’s still only a sixth.” Wakizashi explained.
“It’s impressive, I must say.” Rapier replied, antennae standing almost straight with excitement.
“Her Dominance has made it clear that she will not tolerate delays in the campaign from this point forward. She expects to be meeting with me on Earth quite soon. It shouldn’t be a problem; the Armada alone outnumbers the navies of all their nations combined almost two to one.”
“They really number so little? Damn, we could’ve just had the Council of Arbitrators send a Peacekeeper detachment and been done with it!”
Wakizashi chuckled at the prospect. “Would’ve served those yokel people right. Better than the tit-sucking softskins deserved, even.”
Rapier saw one of the Ovinis crewmen give Wakizashi a dirty look when she wasn’t looking. For a moment, he thought to remind her that such anti-mammalian language was not to be used in mixed company, but found that it would be too blunt and too suspicious.
“Though, that does raise the question: what are you planning to do once we win?” Rapier asked out of a mixture of genuine curiosity and a willingness to change the subject.
Wakizashi’s eyes narrowed in thought. “First, I’ll demolish the capitals of the nations of man and build my palace from the stones, as is custom. Then, once mankind has been brought around, I’ll probably have to rekindle their old martial history. The Council will have… issues with the Combine gaining too much from this war.”
“A prudent choice, ma’am, but would the Council bring a coalition to bear against one of its own Tribunals?” Rapier asked. Such a thing had never occurred before, not counting the war that replaced the Psychocracy with the Upsilon in the position of First Tribunal.
“Remember, Rapier, to put nothing beyond our enemies, and even less beyond our friends.”
Rapier tried to remember what the quote was from. “Tribulations of Sunsword?”
“Axioms of the Before, actually. Nasty time, that was.”
Rapier didn’t know much about the Before; it had been a time of great pain that existed before the rise of Sunsword as First Warlord of Poslush, and all information beyond that was restricted to Judge eyes only.
The bridge door hissed open and someone entered with heavy footsteps. Rapier spun in his chair to see Ulo standing just barely on the inside of the doorway. His bright blue plumage quivered on end with excitement.
“Viceroy, Captain-General, commnets are up and running with all craft. 900th through 1210th Mixed Legions are deploying to the surface as we speak, with artillery and armored elements soon to follow. We’ve currently got 30,000 Aerial Knights in Omen’s high atmosphere as well, but I imagine they’ll be suffering high casualties soon. Human air effectiveness is not to be underestimated, ma’am.”
“Oh, don’t be such a pessimist, Captain. I’m sure the Aerial Knights will perform as admirably as they have ever done.”
Rapier envied Ulo at this moment. As he wasn’t the direct subordinate of Wakizashi, she couldn’t punish him for speaking out without overstepping social norms.
“The issue is not one of performance; it’s one of technology and honor. I’m sure you know of the human air forces’ self-steering air torpedoes, and their tendency to attack without warning. If they were to be engaged by our Knights, it is likely that each enemy fighter could inflict significant losses before running out of munitions or being overwhelmed. The Judges of the Squireworlds would not be pleased to see their Knights wasted, ma’am.”
A foul smell permeated the room and Rapier cringed with apprehension. Wakizashi’s voice had a sharp, angered hiss to it. “Well, you can tell the Judges of the Squireworlds that they can write their complaints down, roll them up, and shove them up their cloacae. I am still Viceroy, and the forces they entrust to me will still answer to me. Her Dominance does not tolerate factionalism within her demesne, and neither will I. Understand, Captain?”
Ulo lowered his gaze and tilted his head forward, the closest thing to an apology an Aralu could push aside their pride to give. “Understood, ma’am.”
“Good. Tell Dao that we are ready to proceed with the offensive.” Wakizashi said, shooing Ulo from the room with one hand. Then, she turned to Rapier.
“What do you think, Captain-General? How should we proceed?”
Rapier’s antennae raised in excitement. Ever since she had stung him, she had paradoxically become more open to suggestion. Perhaps she was willing to be more vulnerable before somebody she thought didn’t have the capacity to use such vulnerability against her.
“Well, in this situation, I would suggest a doctrine of combined-arms tactics. The Aerial Knights wrest control of the skies and work in tandem with our artillery to bombard enemy positions, and our armored and infantry columns support one another in rolling over what remains.”
A sweet scent tinged the air once again. “Sound strategies as always, Captain-General. Rally the Driver Caste; I’ve been wanting a human servant ever since this war began.”
—
“Flush,” Simmons said, laying her cards out on the floor of the barracks. Overjoyed, Pavlov took his turn to show his hand. “Four of a kind, baby!”
“Ugh, two pair,” Sparrow said, facepalming.
Darren, the dealer, took the opportunity to speak. “And the taker of the grand jackpot of two dollars, a novelty stamp, and a free drink when all this is over: Corporal Pavlov!”
Pavlov eyed the stamp greedily, but before he could collect any of his winnings, Darren’s PDA flashed twice and a message appeared on the screen with a loud ding. Darren picked up the tablet and read the message.
From: Capt. Devon McCullough, USSAC, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Astral
Get your equipment and proceed to Fort von Richthofen’s helipad for your next assignment. Say your goodbyes; it’s unlikely you will return before the fort has been evacuated.
End transmission.
Darren put the PDA in his bag and said, “Get your gear. We’re leaving.”
“Where to?” Pavlov asked.
“Dunno; it just says to wait for a helicopter.” Darren responded, already donning his ballistic vest and helmet. He picked up his rifle, freshly cleaned and greased, and slung it over his shoulder. A minute of slipping into his boots, adjusting his belt, grabbing his pack, but mostly adjusting his belt later, he was combat-ready and already on his way to the vertiport. The walk was short and the air was brisk and clean, unlike Earth’s cocktail of smog, industrial aerosols, and synthetic ozone that passed for an atmosphere. The place would make a good holiday retreat, as long as CAST won the war first.
The Dark Sparrow lay in wait on the helipad, rotors still spinning. Darren ducked under the blades (such behavior was greatly reinforced after he watched a taller trainee get the top of his head removed during Ranger School) and climbed into the back of the helo, the rest of the platoon close behind. The moment Pavlov, bringing up the rear, got in, the doors slammed shut and the aircraft lifted from the ground. Soon, Fort von Richthofen was nothing but a slowly-shrinking cluster of structures behind them, a little city soon to vanish forever.
The flight was solemn and quiet; the gravity of the situation was clear to everyone for the first time. Normally, someone would step up with a quip or joke to lighten the mood, but it seemed that humor was no longer a viable option. The only noises to occasionally break through the drone of the engines were the occasional report of an artillery piece or the whine of a passing fighter. Darren silently dictated a final address to his mother on a piece of stationery. When the helo came down, he left it with the pilot in case he didn’t return; he couldn’t help but notice several others doing the same.
Darren’s PDA flashed one last time as they emerged atop one side of a steep mountain-rimmed valley, about a hundred feet above the floor of the landform. A column of French and Dutch evacuees had recently passed through, and had managed to goad a more foolhardy Battlematron into sending her forces through the canyon in pursuit. To that end, the platoon, alongside two Marine Raider and one SAS detachment of the same size, would set an ambush for her forces, inflicting as many casualties as they could in hopes of degrading her soldiers’ morale. When the job was done, the four platoons would retreat one after another, the Rangers covering the last of the Marines. Darren chuckled as he imagined what the Marines were thinking about not being last out.
“This is Staff Sergeant Hardwell, 75th Ranger Regiment, requesting sound-off, over.” Darren said, one hand to his ear.
“Sergeant Armstrong in position, over.” a gruff, heavily Scottish voice responded nigh-instantly.
“You’re late to the party. Staff Sergeant Walker and Staff Sergeant Kennedy. You might remember me from that intel raid, over.” another voice with a Brooklyn accent spoke.
It took Darren a minute to remember what he was talking about. “Oh, with the Battlematron Sparrow took a leg off. Yeah, I remember you! How’s Abilene, over?”
“Recovering; some asshole put a Bouncing Betty in our patrol path and she, erm, disarmed it. With her unmentionables. We’re running with a replacement, over.”
“Yeesh.” Darren exclaimed, cupping his hand over his microphone. Looking over, Pavlov looked to be simultaneously horrified and suppressing a laugh.
“Well, that’s all. Let’s try to maintain radio silence; God knows whether or not they’re listening in on us, out.”
“Roger, out.”
“Affirm, out.”
Sighing, Darren clicked off his radio and tried to find a good spot to set up his gun. However, he was immediately interrupted when Pavlov called out, “Hey, they left us a cache!”
Instantly interested, Darren ran over to Pavlov’s side, and sure enough, two large steel crates had been partially buried, bearing the insignia of the French logistics corps. When Pavlov cracked them open, it was like they had struck gold. One crate carried dozens upon dozens of STANAG rifle magazines, and the other contained five anti-material coilguns with enough sabot rounds to put a tank brigade out of commission.
A dark whimsy overtook Darren and he smiled as only someone about to destroy something could. This was going to be fun.

2023.06.05 06:00 thearks I defeated a certain miniboss for the first time today
And OH. MY. GOODNESS. Playful Darkness is the most difficult fight in the entire game, in my opinion. This is my 6th playthrough, and the first one where I kept trying until I succeeded. My strategy was thus:
- Apply heroism, bless, communal stoneskin, crusader blade, effortless armor, hurricane bow, & sense vitals to my party (the relevant buffs on the relevant characters). Turn on turn-based combat. Have the whole party sit in the hallway where two of the ghosts spawn. Send Regis in ahead to trigger the encounter.
- Have Ember drop Selective Volcanic Storm on the entire battlefield, killing the 4 ghosts & hurting Playful.
- Have Regis, Ulbrig, & Seelah run up to tank & smite him. If they hit him that's great too, but they're primarily sitting there to tank him.
- Aru pelts Playful with arrows, Ember casts Enervation on repeat, & My Angel KC tries to hit Playful with every spell she's got that won't hurt the party-- Mass Castigate & Seering light were the ones I focused on.
I defeated him, barely, & only after he knocked Regis & Ulbrig. Ember & Aru wound up being my unsung heroes: Ember dropped 8 of his levels, & Aru hit him with 2 crits in a row, dropping him to only a few hp left.
Anyway, there's my storytime for you guys. My 1st Angel, lich, demon, trickster, & Aeon KC's couldn't pull it off, but my 2nd Angel finally got the job done.

2023.06.05 06:00 LucyAriaRose AITA for spending a lot of time in my bunker away from my family?
I am not the Original Poster. That is u/ThrowRABunkerMan. He posted in
AmItheAsshole Mood Spoiler: Hopeful Original Post: May 22, 2023 My grandfather was an incredibly talented man who also suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, and he was convinced that the nuclear apocalypse was going to end the human race at some point, so he built his own bunker and then buried the entrance because he was convinced that both the KGB and the CIA were watching him and wanted to keep the bunker a secret. Yes, he was a crazy man. My dad inherited his house but never lived there, so when I had my first child in 2018 and got married in 2019, my dad made me an incredibly generous offer for the house. I bought computers that were more expensive than the house.
The bunker became kind of an urban legend, mostly because my old grandpa used to tell a lot of crazy stories, but out of curiosity I went looking for it and found the entrance. THE OLD MAN REALLY DID IT!
So, thanks to being stuck at home during the uneventful 2020 and 2021, I started remodeling the bunker to look less like a Fallout Vault and more like my own man cave. Everyone loves it, especially the kids (My nephews and friend's children). So the house is decorated to my wife's taste, while I can do whatever I want in the bunker, play gaming, fix computers, set up a whole home server, work from home, etc.
However, lately she has been complaining about me being distant and spending a lot of time there and less time with her and our child. She is pregnant again, so she said she was worried, but I just promised to spend more time at the house. After a few weeks that wasn't enough for her and she accuses me of abandoning her.
I'm asking for judgment here because I'm trying to be there for my family, but this bunker feels like it's the only thing that's really mine and where I can actually have a break, but my wife has said she's going to seal the entrance otherwise I might miss the birth and not even notice. Should I just move all my stuff into the house and forget about it? Am I really being neglectful, or is this just her pregnancy hormones talking?
To be clear, I do help with the house chores and spend time with my son when I'm there and I have an intercom in the bunker so my wife can just call me if she needs anything and I'll go up there immediately.
ETA: Everybody is asking me this. I spends at least 6 hours at the Bunker on week days. I work there so I think is reasonable, and at least 4 hours on weekends. But yeah, ur right, I need to make arrangements.
I forgot to mention: Our son goes to kindergarten so my wife has time to work and sometimes be alone at home.
ETA 2: Guys, I swear I'm taking notes. I'm just trying to understand what I should change about myself and how to talk to my wife about this. Remember that I spend at least 6 hours WORKING, not scratching my belly. My manager allows me to log out early if I finished my work for the day but can't log out if I've been working for less than 6 hours. I also spend time talking with my team on Slack.
ETA 3: So many of you are picking up on my language. I would appreciate if you explain calmly why my choice of words is so bad so I dont fuck things up when I speak to my wife.
Mini-Update: I had a talk with my wife. Overall I think it went well since she told me everything, but there are so many raw emotions right now and I was sent to sleep in the spare room. She had no mercy on me but we needed this talk so we can have a clear path for our future together.
Relevant Comments: More about the bunker: "The entrance is like 900 feet away from the house. There was also a tunnel connecting it to a hidden place on the basement but it collapsed I don't know how many years ago, so we sealed it."
"Yes, the city inspected it and is ok. I didn't bother with the tunnel because it seems to be badly built and there was a risk that could keep collapsing if we tried to fix it. We also had to add more columns and reinforcements to make sure it won't collapse. I was recommended to have yearly inspections."
Clarify- you say you work AND game? Are you doing those at the same time? "No bro, when I mean working, I mean having a fight with my IDE until shit works, and when I mean networking, I mean talking to my team on Slack. Speaking to your team is as important as doing the work itself. Also can be spent reading doc. Then after finishing, I can game for like an hour before going up."
"Yeah, I see how bad it sounds. Year sometimes can be 2 hours, but hear me out. I usually don't play online games, but single player games with a linear story and clear objectives. So is easy to do the "Till next check point" (Tho modern games can be saved at whatever point) and log out.Yeah I think I should stop doing this or do it inside the house."
Where did you work before you had the bunker? "Before getting married I just went to the office everyday but had my main computer in the bedroom. When we first moved into this house, I got a room to place my computers. During this time yes, had more contact with my family but it was harder to make it feel like an "office"."
OOP is resoundingly voted YTA UPDATE (Same Post): Most likely May 23 (next day, based on comments and web archive) I talked to my wife. I asked her to be very honest and I promised to let her talk until she was done. First of all, it's not just about the time I spend in the bunker now, but she felt completely alone taking care of our little baby while I spent almost all of my free time remodeling and building and when it's done I'm just down there. I explained to her that it was basically my office now, she understood and apologized and then continued to explain herself. I'll just quote the gist of it because we talked for hours.
"I haven't been my own person since my first pregnancy, I feel like a doll, every day is the same, I'm bored, frustrated, angry, just when I thought it might get easier, I get pregnant again, how many years until I can just be me again".
"You have a big hole underground where you can play and not care about the word, I haven't read a book in years, I can't read 2 pages without falling asleep"
"Yes, the house looks nice, but what about a place for me? I don't want a Kindle, I don't want audiobooks to listen to while cooking or driving, I want a PHYSICAL collection, where do I put them? When was the last time I went to a library? When was the last time you gave me something made of real paper?"
(For context, she's always been a bookworm, loves books and the aesthetic of having shelves full of them, but it's true she hasn't read in a long time, I gave her a Kindle for our anniversary and I pay for her audible subscription, I thought those would be good substitutes, but they're not)
"Stop thinking that a screen can solve everything, I need you with me, I married a human, not a sim, download some emotions.
"I want to write again, but how? When? Will you read my first crappy drafts or just take a look and say it's okay?"
"Can you have our son in the bunker for a few hours a day? He's bored here, he won't be bored down there."
It was hard, but I needed it, and she needed it.
I'm going to move my gaming consoles into the house and see if I can set up SteamLink to stream games from my gaming PC to our TV or something. We agreed to go on dates outside the house, and I'm going to take on more responsibilities around the house.
I want to address something. I was told by my parents that I had to "help" with the house, "help" with the kids. But then I come to Reddit and it turns out that "helping" is a problem.
You talked a lot about mental load, this was the first time I heard about it, who was supposed to teach me that? "Helping", not having addictions, being loyal and always being there seemed like what every good husband does, now I realize it was just the bare minimum. I feel like I have to relearn everything, and it's hard to realize that I'm a bad husband and father for thinking that the bare minimum was all I needed to have a long and happy marriage. I became a reddit villain by being clueless, but I accept that.
I'll see you again soon, thank you all.
Update Post: May 29, 2023 (1 week from OG post) Hey guys, I hope you remember me. I'm the bunker guy. Not much has happened in terms of big events, but things are getting better.
After the talk I had with my wife, I started taking more responsibility around the house. I've been taking on as much as I can so she can rest. Except I'm a terrible cook, so I have some frozen and instant food that I just heat up and call it done, but I've been taking our son to school and picking him up, spending more time with him in the Bunker (he loves it), I've been gaming in the living room because I moved my consoles there and successfully set up Steam Link. So overall, my wife is sleeping more and has a few hours to just do nothing. She is much calmer now. She said she loved being able to just chill on the couch and not have to worry about anything. This pregnancy has been rough on her emotions so I'm glad to see her like this.
She also spent some time with me in the bunker, doing her own work, sleeping, or just hanging out. She even got The Sims and started playing again. The first thing she did was build an almost exact replica of our house. We also did a lot of cuddling down there and even had sex. I have to admit, I'm loving every second of this new dynamic, even though there are still a few things that need to be changed and tweaked.
I offered to build a room for her in the bunker, but she says it gets a little claustrophobic after a few hours and she likes sunlight, so that was declined. Then I suggested building a shed for her. She said nothing, but after a few hours showed me a shed she built on The Sims, a hexagonal brick structure with a U-shaped couch in the middle, a door, and bookshelves on every wall, connected to the main house by a fenced-in path. I think it looks nice, so I will send it this week to the same people who helped me rebuild this bunker so they can convert it to CAD.
Nothing is perfect yet, I have a lot to learn and haven't started couples counseling yet (that will be in about 2 weeks) but I am trying my best, I have been an idiot for way too long and have a lot to make up for. Thank you all again.

2023.06.05 06:00 SamalandoPart2 My custom css doesn't work correctly with different density options and I'm not sure if there is any code that broke with updates.
I normally enable compact density, but I was making some adjustments to my css code and decided to test it with the other density options, but it's a bit messed up in both of the non-compact options.
Here's what they look like:
Compact (i.e. how it's supposed to look)
Normal Touch For reference, I currently have version 113.0.2 of Firefox, and my css is heavily based on
this, with many alterations and additions.
Here's mine:

Is there some way to make this play nice with every density option?
I would also appreciate pointers on any other broken code I might have in here that I haven't noticed yet. I've already replaced some things using guides about the latest update, but I'm not sure of everything that might need to be fixed, since I haven't noticed any other visual problems besides this density issue.
Thanks in advance for any help with this!

2023.06.05 05:59 Boring-Community-100 F2F resales?
Thankfully, I have a seat at the Mansfield MA show - in literally the last row (I'm not complaining, this is a bucket list cancer thing for me). Today, better seats came up on the TM app but were only being sold as a pair. If I had gotten those tickets, could I have resold the other one on F2F or must they for some reason be bought/sold as pairs only? Any help is appreciated as I'd love to get a little closer for my 1st show ever.

2023.06.05 05:57 Zombiez_ RIP the Corsair Mk.2 series keyboards
Recently my Corsair Strafe Mk.2 Cherry Red died, I’ve been in the market for a new keyboard with the same experience but it seems like every keyboard that has similar stats to it has been discontinued. Does anyone know the reason why this happened?
The closest thing is the K70 RGB Mk.2 but it has also been discontinued, and the only closest now that hasn’t is the K95 RGB platinum, which costs roughly 2x the other keyboards named.
The other keyboards similar, like the K70 RGB TKL champion, and have the terrible new keycap font, or don’t have the usb attachment at the front etc.
Does anyone know of a similar keyboard experience that I can find still in stock?
TLDR: looking for any brand/Corsair keyboard (80% or 100%) with the 2-row font keycaps (see K95 platinum font), functional RGB, Cherry silent or red switches, around the 150USD price point. Any recommendations are appreciated.

2023.06.05 05:56 Double-Ad-8477 Building with driftwood?
Hey so this is not a normal build I live on a river so i have a lot of large drift wood. I am going to build an archway, mounted to my house, and a freestanding privacy wall. The privacy wall is the larger ordeal. Maybe 10 ft.
Would you set the driftwood trunk into cement? Or pour concrete, set a piece of rebar, and put the column onto the rebar via drill hole in the bottom.
The archway is smaller and relatively easier. Going to build the sides on the ground. Soak a few pieces and bend them. Mount a piece to the wall and screw into that. I was thinking of the concrete, with rebar secure and into the base of the branches.
Had anyone worked with driftwood?
If it's set the column in concrete, I'd paint a sealer on the bottom where it's in the concrete. I'd also use a deck sealer on the wood itself.
Just throwing this out there!

2023.06.05 05:55 Wangqj0721 Toyota grand highlander hybrid max VS Acura MDX A-spec VS Infiniti 2023 Luxe
I’m considering to replace my minivan with a decent 3 row SUV and now the main models in my mind are:
Toyota grand highlander hybrid max, price is around 68k CAD.
Acura MDX 2023 A-spec 70k CAD
Infiniti QX60 Luxe 65K
I’m planing to hold the car for long time so reliability and resale value will be main factors.
Thanks.

2023.06.05 05:54 lildimplesq Trying to sleep and heart starts acting funky. Anxiety or dysautonomia or both?
I’m sure I’m not the only one tired of this but I just want to function normally again. This is consuming my life and it’s really hard to stay positive. The last few nights, I’ve been trying to sleep peacefully even though my HR is low, I feel like I got punched in the gut, someone sitting on my chest.. etc then I get zapped into waking up because my heart flutters, skipped beats, crumbling and weakness in my heart scare me and I go straight into a panic attack. I take a Xanax and hope and pray I’ll just fall asleep. It doesn’t always work but it’s better than nothing. This is the third night in a row, I’m trying to sleep right now without meds and my body was not happy. I dealt with odd “failing” heart sensations all day.
Is this dysautonomia or my panic disorder or both? It’s becoming hard to breathe because it feels like someone is sitting on my chest and I have a knee to my epigastric region.

2023.06.05 05:53 triviafrenzy TIL of the 1866 shipwreck of the General Grant near New Zealand. Of the 83 on board only 15 survived the sinking and became castaways on Auckland Island. After nine months four of the survivors attempted to row for help and were never seen again. After 16 months the last survivors were rescued.
2023.06.05 05:53 n0tebook6 Ambers not that bad …
I just finished watching season 19 for the first time, and I have seen posts on here before about how annoying/insufferable Amber is. I fully expected her to be annoying - Elise level annoying, but I was never bothered by her?
It was a bit funny that she would talk so highly of herself and then fuck up - but she easily wouldn’t even be on my top 10 of annoying contestants. She also seemed like a really great chef but just not a chef that could adapt or pivot when necessary. I think her doing her own menu, she would do very well.
But I never found her scenes to be particularly annoying. I even felt bad for her a couple times! Though I do think she got further than she should have.
Does anyone else feel the same?
