The longstanding federal student loan payment pause will expire — once and for all — 60 days after June 30. Borrowers will need to start making payments soon after, and interest will also start building up again. There’s no chance of further payment pause extensions, due to a provision in the debt ceiling deal passed by Congress on June 2. The interest-free payment pause, known as forbearance, began as an emergency pandemic measure in March 2020 under President Trump. Three years and nine extensions later, renewed student loan bills could come as a shock to some of the nearly 44 million borrowers with federal loans. And borrowers who left school in 2020 or later will need to gear up for their first-ever student loan payments. Meanwhile, legal experts expect the Supreme Court to decide the fate of Biden’s up-to-$20,000 federal student debt cancellation plan by late June or early July. Even if Biden's plan would erase your debt completely, take time now to prepare for payments — so you’re not scrambling at the last minute if the plan falls. Here’s more detail on when student loan payments will resume, plus steps you can take today to get ready. The payment pause will expire 60 days after June 30, per the latest guidance laid out in the federal debt ceiling bill. The exact due date of your first bill is not yet clear. The Education Department has not yet announced when exactly borrowers will need to make payments, but it will likely be soon after forbearance ends. Note that the expiration date is no longer tied to when the Supreme Court rules on Biden’s student debt cancellation plan. Previously, forbearance was scheduled to end either 60 days after June 30, or 60 days after a Supreme Court decision — whichever was sooner. The payment pause had most recently been extended on Nov. 22, 2022. On June 1, the United States Senate voted to join the House in approving a Republican-led resolution that would retroactively end the payment pause via the Congressional Review Act. On June 5, private student loan company SoFi dropped a lawsuit it filed against the Department of Education to end forbearance, "in light of" the debt ceiling bill which codified the payment pause end date. In its original lawsuit from March, SoFi claimed the latest forbearance extension was "unlawful on multiple grounds" and has cost the bank millions in profits due to borrowers not refinancing during the payment pause. It's not the only group that sued to end the payment pause. A "free market" think tank called The Mackinac Center for Public Policy — backed by the New Civil Liberties Alliance — filed a lawsuit in April, calling the pause an "enormous expense to taxpayers" in a Michigan U.S. district court document. And on May 11, the group filed a preliminary injunction asking a Michigan judge to force an immediate payment restart.

Just finished up a job today, that is by far the worst set of documents I’ve ever been sent to price! Highlights included.
Every revision of the drawings from T1 onwards (most drawings were up to T7) just dumped into a folder with no sorting.
All drawings were just references no Indication of what they were including no reference to the revision just row after row of files with the same name and just a number at the end that didn’t relate to the revision number.
A schedule of drawings (over 100 drawings) that hadn’t been updated so a lot of the revision numbers were wrong.
Finally sorted them all out to the latest to find they hadn’t been coordinated. Between the schematics and the layouts sizes of pipework was different on multiple areas
And to cap it off I had three schematics for riser five one for drainage, water and heating. Each of them showed a different number of overall floors and none of them matched the layouts!!

But yes! Hello it's my first time on reddit! A little-lot about me:
  1. I first used reddit as of posting this about 2-ish weeks ago but I've shadowed Reddit for much longer. I never wanted to make an account due to shyness, confusing rules, and the dreaded censorship that seems to plague every platform. (Plz don't ban me reddit, I beg.) However due to my introvertedness taking over more and more, now seemed like a good a time as any!
  2. Yep! The name comes from a Nickelodeon cartoon, and if I have to explain from: ¹ how dare you. ² we can't be friends!
  3. I browsed over hundreds of subreddits, always thinking if I ever did join - where would I start? I had ideas of where, but not-so-much when...And given said strict rules, I always thought I had a knit and knack for sentence structure, spelling and grammar as I've been complimented on my penmanship and organization skills...yet, reddit I'm sure will truly test me on that. I've been out of an English class for many, many years now. So forgive me in advance I'll try my best!
  4. Speaking of many, many years - I'm not so young and not so old either! It's a mystery. And as per reddit guidelines to not share sensitive information - I suppose I will keep it that way. You'll just have to think of me as an enigmatic mr. magoo-like shape; formless in the hands of it's users, but an organized cut figure in staunch of his allies. Think of Inspector gadget except more mysterious. (And who trips on his own shoelaces.) So...basically Timmy's dad!
  5. I'm a gamer, hobbiest writer and photographer, and a perspective teacher (in my former years) and I plan on adding a bit of each into their respective subreddit categories in some form of time. I write amateur poetry from time to time, stemming from natural & creative to erotic prose gasp! and when I feel like it - short stories. I tend to also gravitate towards shapeable wordless songs and giving them my own spin (like ost's), as well as coming up with songs lyrics of my own. I went to a magnet school in my younger years for all of the above forms of writing as well as screenwriting and playwriting. All of this is fun to me and that's the extent of it. Nothing more. If you stumble upon any of my former pieces searching for an answer as to why I wrote some of the things I said, or why I said them...it comes down to just whatever floats into my peripheral vision in that given moment; sometimes it's music that inspires me, and othertimes it's just what needs to be said. And hey, sometimes I'm blindsided by my blindspots. And other, other, some times I stop using the word "time" so often! Grrr!
  6. As for games, I'm a replayer of not-so-old games that are not so timeless, but not-so new anymore eiGarrett! This is mainly due to financial tightness and that older games charm I can't forget. Games such as:
(There are others, but these are some games I hold dear that come off the top of my head.)
I've found games sometimes help shape and induce flow-like states to help us ease into transitions of moment-to-moment actions defining our playable characters, some. Or in other cases, defining ourselves most when we need to caught between a rock and a hard place...like in a gunfight...(I'm looking you Apex Legends, Uncharted, and Destiny.) But yes, in those instances - I've found that what help shape me along with some of the game's life-lessons taught to our characters, did indeed help shape me into the person I am today. (Inb4 someone says I identify as Harumo-chan the master of hoe-jitsu), lol no I'm saying the best parts about our characters can help shape us sometimes without us even knowing it. (But Harumo-chan did help shape me Timmy, why can't you see that?) More power to you then. The best parts for some and the worser parts for others i suppose. :P
6½. What i mean to the last point is, part of my strength I've found is from when I draw strength from other strong characters I've seen and what they've been through; (or put you through and thus you're going through the sh*t-show together.) Characters that have really inspired me are probably namely Sora, Riku & Roxas from Kingdom Hearts, Nathan Drake from Uncharted, Sonic, and Yusei from Yugioh 5d's. I know, very adult of me right? Mm, I am interested however where others draw their strength from? Which form of medium do they choose, why did they choose it and who do they draw strength from if not in a show or game?
I could talk about why I choose these individual characters but I believe that's best suited for another thread/post. P.s. as for tv shows though? A huge inspiration i draw from is Rick, from the walking dead. I don't watch many new shows anymore. (As for why that is, maybe that's also best suited for another post.)
  1. Speaking of shows - I don't really have time to watch anime all that much but some influential ones I've grown to be very fond of are:
There are others, and I've seen all series of Yugioh and DragonBall alike, but these in particular stood out to me. For DragonBall Super mostly due to the absolute insanity the tournament of power was and that last fight. I've seen other animes or stopped, started and stopped again as I couldn't get invested into them. That's why Golden Time really took me by surprise. Same with Yugioh 5d's and S1 of Sword Art Online. I am interested to see what other subreddits with differing views on what sorts of animes other people prefer or recommend I watch.
Same with games, music or movies.
To wrap up,
Tldr; you can call me Timmy (Timmm-aH!) For short, or even shorter than short - dad, just don't get weird with it, (unless?...no I'm joking, unless?...) and I'm here like anyone else to peruse reddit on useful or entertaining things!

2023.06.08 17:01 Certain-Fill1878 Seeking advice on fiancés relationship with parents

Hi all! I’m (29F) looking for feedback about my fiancés (30M) relationship with his parents. We live together and are about 13 hours by car from where his parents live. Until 3 years ago he lived with them and during college lived just about 45 minutes from them. They were used to having him close by and seeing him very frequently. When he moved we didn’t know each other; he didn’t know anyone in the town we live in.
My issue is that he speaks with his parents twice a day, morning and night. These conversations are less than 5 minutes and are usually about surface level topics like happenings at work, what we ate for dinner, etc. I feel like this is too much but I’m not trying to prescribe a specific amount he should be speaking with his parents (obviously, that would be weird). I think my feaconcern is that his parents will be his first priority, while I want us as a couple to cleave to each other, especially after we get married later this year.
We spoke about my concerns today and we’re really having trouble seeing eye to eye on this. We already had pre-marital counseling scheduled tomorrow so we put this on our list of topics to discuss. I acknowledge I may be wrong about this so that’s why I’m coming here because I wanted some unbiased opinions.
Some additional information about both of our family backgrounds. His parents are fairly controlling and very much treat their three adult kids still as children. A few examples of this are being concerned about what directions my fiancé is taking, thinking the kids aren’t capable of any household chores when they’re at the parents house, and asking what the sleeping arrangements are when my fiancé and I go on trips together (this was happening prior to us living together - which they don’t “approve of”). My fiancé has worked hard on setting boundaries with them over the last 6 months because he agrees they are over involved in many ways. I’m really proud of him because going against what his parents say has been difficult for him because of the control they’ve exerted his whole life.
This is the first long term/serious relationship I’ve been in so navigating relationships with his family has been new to me. I definitely feel like a fish out of water in this part of our relationship because I’m still learning. My family lives in the same area as us. I consider myself close with them but I am very independent and text with my parents 1-2 times a week. We tend to do family gatherings 1/month for birthdays, holidays, etc.
So to those of you with marriage experience, what do you think about this? Would this bother you? Am I being too overbearing/controlling of his relationship with his parents?
TL;DR: Fiancé talks to parents 2x daily. Is it weird I’m concerned? How to navigate this.

I just got these today. Already having issues, unfortunately. I was coming from a pair of relatively cheap Skullcandy Method Sport wired earbuds. Compared to them, the Buds2 Pro sound rather harsh, sibilance is common especially on high volume and almost on all kinds of music. The bass is there, but it's too much for my taste. I've tried all EQ Profiles and none really give me the sound I wanted or was expecting. Does anyone have any advice for me? Any external EQ present I can use?
Note: I don't think they're faulty since there are some great things about them. I love the ANC, and they sound great when watching movies or TV shows.

Hi everyone my iphone 13 which i bought new 9 months ago have many frame drops and the animations have like frame drops it cheapens the whole experience, this problem i have had since day one (from the last version of ios 15 to today’s version of 16 ) i can make a brief about the problem 1- when i lock the phone the screen seems to be lagging (lock animation) 2-whatsapp stutters alot and all over scrolling sometimes 3- animations have micro lag ( in the whole ui ) And many more What i have done : 1-Stored the phone many times without restoring data 2-waited too many updates and no issues solved 3- turned off background app refresh None of them were useful The phone works very well in gaming not dropping any frame When i force restart all of this is solved for like 2 hours and then come again gradually NOTE: these issues are not all the time,but they happen multiple times every day and make the phone experience very bad. I contacted apple and they made the MRI test and told me that there are no problems with the phone in hardware ,they also checked the software and told me that it is stable I really don’t know what to do or what is this issue i have like 3 months left in warranty

So if you frequent this sub recently you may have seen my first update, I'll post the body of that below then my final update.
Regardless, the moral of the story is don't lose hope. I was one of you calling the NPIC number every moment of every day, the locator directly, and my congressman (and senator). I followed all the 8:00am and 1 second instructions. I was <48hours before my DOT without an appointment and my application hadn't even been OPENED, and as of 5 minutes ago I have my passport in my hand. If you are only a day or so from your DOT without anything , it CAN still happen. Seriously.

Applied expedited, check cashed and put in processing 5/2/2023. Locator 69.
DOT: 6/9/2023
2 weeks out from DOT I began to reach out to my Congressman. They sent the request like they do but was crickets otherwise.
Once I hit 7 business days before DOT I started hammering the 877 number. Repeatedly and nonstop trying to get appointments. Did all the 8am EST exactly. I actually got an appointment at my closest passport center but I only had an hour to collect all documents and get there. Had to cancel. Kept calling, nothing. No appointments.
Reached out to my congressman again as i hadn't heard from him in a week. Apparently there was a congressional event. During this time I reached out to my senator because I was concerned I had been lost in the shuffle (understandable). The moment I submitted the form to the senator the Congressman called and said he was sending in another request.
I repeatedly call locator 69 on their expedited line just to see of any possible status updates. When I got through the person on the line was very very unpleasant. Seemed very annoyed I was calling and would say things like "when it said 7-9 weeks it meant 7-9 weeks" and would act like I was lying when I said I had heard people have received updates about where my passport was in in the review process (had someone even opened the application yet vs it being on the printer). I was extremely calm and polite, but was pretty shocked at how angry this person was considering all the great things I've heard about locator 69.
Anyway! So, keep hitting the 877 and when I get through the person tells me "well I see you already have a scheduled appointment for 6/9". Which is nice, but it's also my DOT so not very helpful. When I ask about the time, confirmation emails, or any information at all. They have no idea. They assume it must be my congressman who set it up.
I reach back out to the congressman, they tell me they haven't heard a word about anything. They had nothing to do with it.
Reach BACK out to the 877 number and anytime they'd look at my file they'd all go "huh? That's weird" or something to that effect, and eventually they transfer me to the life or death line, which is a whole different thing and different "officer". I explained the situation and had no idea why I was transferred to him. He goes through this phantom appointment and is completely confused by it. He has no idea how it was scheduled, no confirmation numbers, no time. Just the location.
My senator responds and says my passport is being urgently pushed to the review process. I'm <72 hours from travel at this time, mind you.
I call the 69 locator back, which they have a whole separate line for "travel within 72 hours" in the options menu and guess what? I get the same rude worker I did the day before from the general expedited line.
She was telling me "I told you there's nothing we can do" and I explained I thought this was a different line with different options since I'm now within 72 hours of travel and the menu clearly states to press this button if I'm <72 hours away. She says that I'm making it up and that she's never heard of this. Essentially calling me a liar, which that one bothered me but I understand high stress jobs can make people act like that. They aren't mad at you, they're just mad at the situation, ya know?
ANYWAY...
So tl;dr
I have been in expedited processing since 5/2 with DOT
Congressman and Senator contacted (usually a no no I've heard) but I haven't had any issues. Congressman heard nothing. Senator got my passport being "urgently reviewed" today apparently.
During this time a phantom appointment was made on my DOT which everyone at the NPIC can see, but cannot confirm its real and no one knows who made it. Not my senator or congressman.
Locator 69 has a great reputatiom but I had a bad experience with their customer service line both times. NPIC workers are absolutely amazing on all of my calls.
UPDATE: The afternoon of 6/6
WOW. I just received a phone call from my congressman about 15 minutes ago and he told me he managed to secure an in person appointment at my closest agency on 6/8 the day before my DOT
I am in absolute shock. My best advice is to be persistent, but be kind, even when it isnt being reciprocated. I reached out to my congressman via email, but would call back if I didn't get an answer in a day or 2 just to politely ask if there were any updates. I would be kind and make it light-hearted, but as I've seen so many times posted here "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" and I can attest to that. Shout out to Caiden at Congressman Tim Walbergs office. Legend.
Another protip, have whoever you can call the NPIC. Not just you. I had my wife calling constantly as well. When they were about 5min left in the queue, they would simply add me to the call via 3-way and mute themselves. Managed to have a couple appointments offered, but all were unrealistic (ex: Seattle in 5 hours) or it got snatched up before we finished our confirmations. So the appointments are there, and they were offered at all times of the day. Not just the mornings.
FINAL UPDATE 6/8: SWEET SUCCESS
So after that last update, I was feeling great. Then, yesterday (6/7) my initial passport application went from in-process to APPROVED.
Now my biggest fear was what if this passport gets mailed, I show up to my appointment and they say "there's nothing we can do, you have one in the mail" and the mailed one doesn't show up until after my DOT.
So I call NPIC again to ask about this, and this amazing girl provided me my tracking number before it was even available on the website. The package is dropped off at about 5pm yesterday in NH, and by 10:30am it is in my hands.
So in about 19 hours my passport went from "in process" to "approved" to actually in my hands. Unbelievable.
I fully believe things change when you get <72 hours from travel. Special appointments open up and your elected officials have more pull.
Both my Congressman and Senator worked on it, and they were aware of this. I was just open and honest about the situation.
What an experience. I feel like I've had to deal with just about every road block you can on this adventure over the last few weeks. In <24 hours I'll be in Jamaica sippin on a Red Stripe. This sub was invaluable and gave me hope where I would have given up if I didn't have others guidance.
Good luck you guys. It's a wild ride.
And yes, I did cancel my appointment today so someone else could get it. If you got an 1130am appointment in Detroit today, you're welcome. Lmao.

Today we’ll dwell into the life of probably most powerful person in Bollywood, who likes to stay and work in the shadows. Aditya Chopra seems to be the one who operates his businesses from his very own Stark Tower, YRF Studios. A swanky studio, sprawling over 20 acres (81,000 m2) and towering up to six floors, is used to shoot films for the company and is also rented for other filming and television shoots.
Let’s start with the business side of YRF & Aditya Yash Chopra, Adi: a pet name fondly called by most of his family members, since their news/info is not disclosed by media outlets especially the major media houses. I don’t get why there’s so much apprehension by media when it comes to disclosing Adi's personal/work part of his life to the public.

We all know how big of a juggernaut YRF is, many people know that YRF is involved in film production as well as distribution. Most of the Bollywood fans automatically assume that YRF is a family owned business just like some Walmart, or even better a major telecom & media conglomerate such as Comcast (which in today’s date has annual revenue of $121.4 Billion & has assets of $ 275 Billion). Comcast owns one of the biggest Hollywood Studios: Universal Studios(known for Jurassic Park ,E.T., JAWS, The Mummy, Sherlock Holmes, etc) & DreamWorks Animation Studios(Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, etc.).

YRF is nowhere near to what Comcast’s telecom or its movie business is but there is one thing which is common between these two businesses: business ownership by the family itself. Comcast is owned by Roberts Family(33.8%) and also they hold major voting rights since Comcast is a public company. Similar thing could be said about YRF, Yash Chopra Family does not own everything in YRF, there are many other stakeholders in their business. They could be having similar ownership just like Comcast(around 50-60% of Company shares today).
As per financial reports of the company, YRF as a private company has one managing director & 3 directors who hold key stakes in the group: firstly, Aditya Chopra (MD) (since 6/9/1999), Late Pamela Mohinder Chopra (since 30/8/1973), Uday Chopra (since 6/9/1999) & Rani Ram Mukherji(since 30/5/2014).
Today, YRF may not be completely owned by Yash Chopra Family as it may have been couple of decades ago. Their stake in the company is shrinking by each decade. Not many people may know this but after the demise of renowned director Mr. Yash Chopra in October 2012, Aditya Chopra ascended to the throne of YRF Kingship i.e. elevated to the position of Chairman & Chief Executive of the YRF Studios. Late Yash Chopra’s family faced pressure from the Indian bourses (NSE & NSDL) to make YRF a public company. Also, on board as a director is YRF’s CEO Mr. Akshay Anil Widhani, Former Talent Management Head of YRF & Current CEO of YRF. Anushka Sharma’s father is 4th major stakeholdeDirector. I don’t understand how and why these YRF big executives are in business partnership with Anushka?
Walt Disney buyout-refusal:
Walt Disney entered into Indian market by signing 3-film co-production agreement with YRF for Ta Ra Rum Pum, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic & Roadside Romeo. Disney however had different intentions, they offered 49% acquisition of YRF at 2500 Cr($310 Million) in 2009. However, YRF declined the offer by Disney.

After YRF’s refusal, Disney acquired 99% of UTV at 2000Cr($250 Million) and named the company Disney UTV. Post-acquisition, this company couldn’t deliver commercial hits. Hence in December 2016, Disney closed the Indian operations of movie production and focused only on distribution of its Hollywood films.
According to few Sources, YRF is estimated to be worth 6200 Crores($ 970 Million)[as of Second Quarter of Financial Year 2015] by trade analysts. As of today, YRF seems to be worth 8043 Crores($970 Million). However, I couldn’t confirm the same valuation with highly credible sources such as reports by NSE, etc.
I am thinking about posting few more topics related to YRF/Aditya and the emphasis would be more on few of his personal/professional behavior in the next post.
