Hey all, I have experience with training dogs and caring for them, but for a good 10 years of my life I was gone for 10-11 hours per day 5+ days a week.
Things have changed with hybrid working and a new job. I'm now gone 2-4 days out of 7 for around 8-9 hours. There isn't anyone who can watch the dog during the day aside from paying a dog walker, but I can give the dog access to the exterior with a 3 seasons room I have. I live in the country part of the city so it's fairly quiet from a people/cars perspective, but there's deer, squirrels, rabbits, etc..
Most would say get a cat i know, but I also like walking a lot and being outside or hiking. So I'm looking for a companion to do things with and walk every day. I'm also allergic to most cats :(
Can I get away with taking them for however long of a walk they need in the morning and the evening on days that I'm gone. I definitely want to make sure my dog is happy and loved, but it's just me. Thanks!

For me I understand the dog needs daily exercise but some days it’s 20-30 min and other days I have 2-3 hours of walking. For reference I averaged 3.5 miles walked per day working from home last year. I’ve walked/hiked 20+ miles in a day though
9) How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?
I do not want to regularly have to brush and trim hair. I have significant issues with my hands that make things like that difficult. I would hire someone if I could not perform

Hey everyone, like the title says, I am looking for the best nature retreat for my wife who is recovering from cancer. It’s both our first times in Seattle and we expect to spend about 3 days in the city followed by 2 or 3 nights in a nature lodge. I’ve found some cute spots in Mt Rainier National Park but we have friends who have suggested Leavenworth. Ideally, we would like somewhere with lots of trees, serene atmosphere and light hikes to a beautiful lake/body of water. Anymore areas that we should be looking at besides the two mentioned above? Ideally, no more than 2.5 hrs drive outside of Seattle

So, took a family trip to Omaha to celebrate my son’s 16th birthday. We had a lovely evening at the Twisted Fork restaurant in the Old Market area, enjoyed ice cream at Ted & Wally’s and rounded up the night playing games at the Hollywood Pinball & Arcade. When we arrived at our car that was parked in a garage nearby, we found that the 2 driver’s side windows had been smashed. Nothing was taken as there was nothing of value. After about 10 minutes of attempting to clean glass off the seats and being on hold with the police department, a security guard came up and said that he had witnessed it on his monitors and filed a report already. According to the video, a group of kids walked through the garage just 5 minutes after we parked and randomly bashed several other car windows also. So, we now have no choice but to go home early, missing the things the other 2 days we were planning to spend here, including a trip to the zoo. The money we would have spent on the trip will now go to repairs and then some. Tomorrow we look forward to finding a place to vacuum the glass out of the car and a 4 hour drive with 2 missing windows. Should be fun.

I am moving to SF and am having trouble deciding neighborhoods. I like Panhandle area and Mission but I wonder which is better for my old dog. My roommate really wants to move to the Mission near the Dolores park but I wonder if its an ok place for dogs

According to this, Lansdowne will be reduced to 2 lane traffic between Park and George from June 19 "until work is completed next spring"
"The work includes excavation, grading, installation of new storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and water main, as well as adding traffic signals at Aylmer Street."
Also, they'll be adding "street lights, concrete sidewalks, multi-use trails, traffic islands, tree plantings, pavement markings and signage."
While of course we all know Lansdowne is terrible, and obviously this is some fairly major work, I'm surprised they're estimating nearly a year of work and lane reductions for only 2 blocks?
Any time Lansdowne traffic flow is reduced, traffic gets fucked all over the city as people try to find ways around it... Creating safety hazards as people drive like idiots and clog up side streets trying to go around problem areas.
What a year we have to look forward to....

Hello Reddit!
I have a 2 year old rescue that a mix of German, Australian, Border Collie.
She is both food and ball motivated. Recently she is showing signs resource guarding only at the dog park when there are other dogs. Right now she would take the ball and go to an area with fewer dogs and entices me to kick/throw it. If other dogs gets too close to her she would bare teeth and/snap at the other dogs. In situations like this I remove her from the dog park and we go home.
Additionally, I've also noticed that my dog is not as interested in other dogs ever since she promoted the ball toy to high reward. She doesn't really play with other dogs like she has when she was younger.
What are some suggestions that I can use to reduce this resource guarding behavior and get my dog to be as friendly as before?

I was wondering what can I do to keep track of which parks I have and haven’t been to in the area and which ones I do and don’t like? As well as which ones have what amenities? I forget already and can’t keep track just by looking them up on Google and there are a lot in the area! My goal is to take little one to as many different ones as possible this summer. I have incredibly detailed and strange dreams almost nightly but I wrote this one down and wanted to share. It was also a musical so that was interesting lol. Sorry for the formatting, I wrote it all down half asleep as soon as I woke up.
Large parking lot like building has stores during the day like Japan open air market for clothes etc beautiful jewelry etc
As the sun goes down it turns more alt and punk the clothes get more alternative and there’s sex stores and piercing stores
Dark skin girl and white girl are friends and have a fun time there
Both girls get deep into the alt culture and eventually get famous
Dark skin girl gets famous and eventually gets the most tongue piercings record
White girl gets famous somehow basically for being hot
Weird moments of flashbacks to eerie moments on the streets
Dark skin girl running around trying to find the parking structure
When she’s there she’s happy and with friends and famous
She sings a song, light hearted about how happy she is, there’s an ensamble singing of all the people that hang out in the parking lot shop building
She goes to one of the sex shops and it’s kinda in an attic and has intense sex with the Asian guy
She’s the poster child for a piercing shop since she has the most tongue piercings and stands outside so people can walk by and make out with her
The Asian guy walks past and makes out with her intensely and people walk by like um y’all good
Flashback for dark skinned girl and she’s running through the streets scared, running through alleyways and construction. People on the street are wearing shirts that say things like you’re almost there get out etc. She happens upon a crashed cop car and she runs up to help. The cop says he crashed because someone stabbed him with a heroin needle while he was stopped at a light and dosed him. The girl starts to back away slowly and she feels the world getting dark and real around her. The cop says he stopped doing that shit when he was a kid and has been clean for 30 years. The girl backs away more and starts to run away, still looking for the parking structure. She finds it and everything is different, not happy. Run down. Ugly. She sees her white friend and Asian guy that she’s kinda dating now. She’s relieved but she asks what’s going on and they tell her she’s been doing heroin for the last year. She finally remembers the first time she tried it and realizes she’s been basically living in a dream this whole time. White girl doses her again and she passes out.
Asian guy is mad at white girl but she convinces him to keep lying to her and keep dosing her in secret. Hes being manipulated by her through emotional means as well as the fact that she buys him sex toys and sex merch etc. He’s a sex addict. She basically runs the underground drug sex mall at this point and he can’t really say no to her because she can ruin his life.
He continues to dose dark skinned girl and she continues thinking she has an amazing life being famous and hot and has everything she ever wanted
Meanwhile white girl is doing meth. She’s aware of everything that’s happening and is running the show. There really are shops and she helps run them. The shops also sell drugs and sex and she’s the kingpin and the pimp. We don’t know how it got to this point as we’ve been following dark skin girl the whole time. She has flashbacks too when she was like dark skin girl, happy and famous. There’s magazine covers showing white girl curvy and sexy she has thick hips and big boobs and a full face.
Asian guy comes to white girl a week or so later and tells her he won’t manipulate and secretly give drugs to dark skin girl anymore. White girl goes into a song about how she has everything he wants and she knows what he wants. She gives him cool shirts and sexy posters. Shirts with sexy girls on them. And he thinks for a moment but ultimately tells her no. Then the building grows shelves that are sky scraper heights and he’s trapped in them she’s still singing and her people that follow her start pushing stuff off the shelves at him all sex related merch and she’s singing about how he can’t escape she has everything he wants she gave him dark skinned girl to fuck however he wants.
Dark skinned girl hasn’t been dosed in a while and she’s starting to see reality again. She’s running through the parking lot market as it turns to more and more disturbing scenes. She ends up in a stairwell and is met with Asian guy and white girl arguing. She’s starting to understand and spirals down figuratively and literally. She ends up at the bottom of the stairs. We’ve never seen this area before. It’s dark and gross and looks like a torture chamber or cell or gross solitary confinement. White girl tells Asian guy see what you did. She’s miserable now. They say nothing and leave.
White girl is walking around the city and sees a park. She walks towards it and remembers for a moment her life before meth. She sees herself on the swings, decrepit and skinny and sad. We find out she’s anorexic here. In all her previous appearances she’s curvy and beautiful and full of color and life. The self she sees is in a white dress that is way too big for her and her face is skinny and her hair is dull. She’s sad that she’ll never be skinny and beautiful. She never eats but it’s not enough. She’s not beautiful. She sees herself doing meth for the first time. And how easy her life becomes. She’s able to never eat and be the beautiful girl she wants to be. She’s able to be a go getter and do all the things she’s always wanted to do. She does a million tasks at once and is good at every one of them. She turns around and does meth right there in the park.
Dark skin girl is in the stairwell but coming to. Asian guy is gone. She realizes where she is and remembers when she came her with her mom as a kid. They were shopping, they were poor. The girl sees a crystal dish ware set and asks her mom if they can have it. Her mom is shaking and nervous and almost says something before an old man worker comes over and asks if they want it wrapped up. The mom almost says something again and the old man secretly signals to the mom that it’ll be on the house, free. The mom says yes and they take the set home.
Dark skin girl physically climbs the stairs to get out of the dark gross place and once she’s not below the ground in a basement anymore, she’s sees the sunlight. It’s blinding and painful so she puts her hands over her eyes to shield some of the light. She sees the sun rising. It’s beautiful and she feels proud for getting out of the basement. She sees the natural beauty of the world for the first time since the old man gave them the dish set. She falls to her knees.
Then I woke up.
I don’t do drugs, I live a normal healthy life, but I have incredibly detailed and dramatic dreams like this almost daily. Thoughts? Lol

So she’d make a new soc from her IP address that Reddit allowed sub owners access to run sweeps of soc accounts ignoring a sub ban or ip address of site wide perma banned users. To report to Reddit Admin who would block the ip address. This was pre cell phones having internet access when dial up internet connections by computer nerds (my Irish twin sister had an internet modem/computer dial up MSDOS computer that predates Microsoft ‘Windows’) in 1992/3 nerds who used chat rooms prior to Reddit being created. Imagine my delight that Alf and Auzzie Ema the plant lady that created bottom feeders to slag off IG accounts of Gen Bailey (Ema’s friend and who paid for and set up her YT Wolfpack channel) and Alf who had modded for and secretly gave inside info to the anti Katie joy creators, trolled with Matt Baier against Leslie bass, Ste McRae and openly gave Katie Joy inside info of her anti enemies. But she blew Alf up when she found Welsh Jo (biggest supporter of Leslie bass) court records that saw the man who groomed her from age 11 and S. abused her as a child that fathered her adopted baby at 14. That saw her successfully press charges and saw him jailed in Welsh Courts that Alf found by using her daughter to get Jo’s address, that found ‘dirt’ Katie Joy refused to use, on grounds of morality that saw her contact Jo privately to tell her that Alf and Leslie and Matt Baier were all in a secret alliance. To topple KJ and LB’s more popular sister from fan favourite’s and put LB and her channel in top spot. I’d watched secretly from the bushes for 1yr and also infiltrated LB’s Twitter inner circle by creating a Soc I knew LB, TT, Adrian fake lawyer Soc that had pic Phaedra Parks and one of the many Twitter socs of Alf n Matt Baier. They all shared their troll plans to make malicious cps calls to their own subs from apps that created fake area codes and google numbers from the city and county their anti Kj friends got the blame for. Rest of background to Alf creating this subreddit in comments.

I just found out through my neighbor that resides next to my landlord that I’m being evicted on Monday because of my daughter. I have a child with mental health issues and she has a habit of trying to run off and when she does the police usually find her and bring her back. Because this has happened once before they’re evicting us for this exact reason. Is this even a legal reason? My daughter was just dropped off and there was a one hour conversation with the police and that was it. Is it even legal for my landlord to be discussing this information with my neighbor? It’s not the first time that she’s ever talked bad about someone to another resident. I’ve had her come up to me and try talking about other residents but I just walk away. I live in an RV park and have been here for over a year. I’ve never been late on my rent, we stay to ourselves and we keep our area clean and tidy.

In preparation for my (hopefully) upcoming Autism assesment, I have been reflecting on some wierd things I did as a child. The thing is, I'm not sure if these have anything to do with possible Autism, or I was just a terrible person, or if they fall into the normal realm of wierd kid things, like wolf kids/future furries at recess.

• Compulsively chewed on non-food items as a toddler.
  
• Never understood how to hold a pencil "correctly". Teachers didn't force it because I could write fine, but kids would still razz me about it sometimes.
  
• This is the one that really makes me cringe. For some reason, I had this innate need to create drama. I wasn't starved for attention at home or anything, this is totally inexplicable to me now. But I would create drama by bringing a toy to the park or mall play area, then "accidentally" drop it and wait for some unsuspecting kid to pick it up. Then I'd be like "Hey!!!!! That's mine!!!1!" and watch the scene unfold, hopefully with their mom getting mad at them. I was also a huge tattletale and overall snitch. I eventually stopped this shit and learned to satisfy my craving for excitement and drama by watching kids get in trouble without my interference, watching Mr. Enter and Nostalgia Critic rage at movies/TV shows on YouTube, and in present day observing Lolcows and watching reality TV.
  
• Discovered boyfriends from watching shows on Nickelodeon at age 6. I thought it was really cool, so I would pick random boys from my class to be my "boyfriend" even though they didn't know about it. My first kiss was me forcing myself on this poor bastard on the Kindergarten bus. I didn't understand why that was inappropriate. I stopped caring about boys at 8, then I started again at 13. The relationship lasted about 8 months. I broke up with him. After that, the novelty wore off and 5 years later I'm still totally uninterested in dating.
  
• Had a speech impediment. Don't remember what exactly it was but it got better with time.
  
• I'd laugh at really inappropriate times. Sometimes at nothing in particular, sometimes at something like a bad illustration in a book or, in one instance, a child abuse PSA because I thought the acting was bad. The counselor was really concerned about that and I didn't really get why. I also had a hard time understanding when the joke wasn't funny anymore (if at all) and I was just being annoying. I still struggle with that.
  
• I didn't understand personal space. I'd get on people's nerves so much by hugging them all the time and just being really touchy. I still get like that with certain people. IBut mostly I'm very picky about needing my own little bubble now. I get upset when people are too close to me.
  
• The piñata incident. For my birthday one year, I got a pony piñata. Unfortunately, I didn't realize what you were actually supposed to DO with piñatas. So when the time came for one of my friends to hit the piñata, I screamed "NO!!!!" and started crying. I cried so hard over that fucking thing and everyone was so confused that I didn't understand that's what was supposed to happen.
  
• Motor issues/coordination weren't/aren't great. I could only do really basic stuff in gymnastics, anything with peripheral vision in soccer was hard and I was mostly just good at punting the ball. I dreaded stuff like tennis in gym class.
  
• Started getting intense interests around 7. I'd even want to be doing stuff on the internet when my friends were over sometimes (I watching pirated anime and tracing by holding printer paper over the computer screen) which really annoyed my parents. I also started watching cartoons reviews and was so into that. I'd constantly parrot stuff the reviewers said in my real life, too. I still do that but now it's like stuff from movies or books.
  
• Began writing extremely edgy, dark stories for school in the 6th grade. Like... drugs, suicide, abuse... I got the counselor called on me, actually. I didn't understand why that was maybe not appropriate subject matter to be sharing with the class until someone told me.
  
• Puberty in general broke my already tenuous social understanding. The changes going on were totally out of my depth, which somehow led to me oversharing with everyone to such an embarrassing degree. The body changes were so bad to deal with. I got really bad at hygiene for a while too. I sort of quit understanding the need for brushing my teeth and showering and changing my clothes and wearing deodorant. Looking back, it was so gross. But I really just didn't get it, plus looking at my naked body was really stressful because of puberty.
