Before I get into it, I hope you can upvote and comment so hopefully you guys will help me make up my mind...So here is some info before I get into it,, I 23 male and my partner 55male have been dating for 2 years now, we have had our ups and downs, times when we took breaks etc...and not to forget to mention: 1-we are from a third world country in which homosexuality is a sin and you can even get punished by law! .. 2- my partner is mostly straight! He had been with guys when he was younger, but he described it as just being very young and horny! I'm basically the first guy he has ever dated... despite him almost being straight he started making moves on me as we were just friends before etc.. 3- he had truly fallen in love with a girl 5-6 years ago,he was mad about her and they dated until 4 years ago ,, thats when few months before their wedding he found out she is cheating on him... It made him depressed, lost his job etc... About one year and half afterwards we met and became friends... After 6 months I could tell that he was into me and was obviously flirting with me, It was not long till we started dating... For the past 2 years I have been waiting for him to say 3 simple words... Which is ( I love you)! Even tho I remind him and tell him I love him on daily bases, or sometimes call him just to hear his voice,, I have been trying my absolute best to help and fix the damage she had done to him. I have surely seen improvement but to be honest it's becoming tiring! Constantly and unconditionally showing love and not receiving much in return. Even when I say ( I love you) , he either says thank you or laughs and says (and I hate you) anyhow I understand it's hard for him to say these words after what happened to him and he is just trying to protect himself. But I believe 2 years of constantly being a loving boyfriend is enough for someone to build up the courage to say these 3 simple words and he knows how much it means to me .... And another hard pill to swallow is knowing he how he treated her like a queen and how much he loved her, and how emotionally available he was with her and I don't see 1/10th of that when it comes to me... Keep in mind I'm absolutely in love with and also want the best for him.. with him acting that way I'm starting to believe I'm not the one for him. What should I do?  | Hi all, this is my first year trying to garden, and I have a lot of plants dying from root rot. From early on (after hardening and in the ground) a lot of the plants were immediately struggling with the harsh all day sun, so I was giving plenty of water, but I wouldn't say ever too much. The soil would stay dry-moist a couple inches down, but the plants still were complaining and crispy, so I'd give a little more water. I have some beets and potatos that are in looser soil, and they are very happy. I have a few questions: 1) Is this a reasonable hypothesis for my issues? 2) Can compacted soil also just generally stunt growth? I have some pepper plants that seem to be doing okay, but they aren't really growing much since I put them in a few weeks ago. 3) If it is due to compacted soil, how can I safely loosen the soil around my existing plants that are struggling a little? 4) How can I prevent the soil from compacting? 5) Is there anything I can add to the soil for next season to help with this? We got the soil from a local farm that specializes in creating garden soil, but I think it's just compacting too well (maybe by design to hold water in a normally very dry Colorado environment?) As an aside, I've attached a picture of one of the stunted pepper plants. Should I prune him at all to help him out? I keep the shade pulled back (this picture is facing north) so the peppers have direct access to most of the sun all day (at least 10 hours)? Thanks in advance for your advice! |

I only joined Reddit a couple weeks ago after years of occasional lurking, and I posted this on a general sub, and got roasted to the point I had to delete the post to prevent going into negative post karma (I went from 90 post karma down to about 10 over a few hours).
At the risk of seeing a repetition of a barrage of abuse (I was called an idiot/ loser, and my replies got downvoted into being hidden), I re-post it here, just curious if the FIRE crowd has a different perspective.
For the record, I AM NOT doing what I'm doing to scrimp and penny-pinch. I genuinely enjoy my healthy packed lunches over unhealthy bought lunches that takes up 1/2 my lunch break while waiting in queue. I buy tech that suits my needs instead of paying extra for features I don't need. The things I enjoy in life most (running, walking, snap photography on my phone, family movie nights at home) happen to be free or cheap. As for heating in winter, I grew up in South Island of NZ without heating in winter, and my winter school uniform was shorts and I used to ride my bicycle to school through frosted grass, so I'm not about to start heating up the house for the mild Sydney winters. My kids aren't cold, and they keep taking layers off.
So here's the post. Fire away folks!
I am a 40M suburban dad in Sydney. Dual income, 2 children under 6.
I work in a professional capacity, and while I don't want to reveal my annual income, I'll drop a hint and say I paid over 100K in personal income tax last year (wife paid a bit less but not a lot less).
With that sort of income, many will say that just about everything is affordable to me. I am aware there is a cost of living crisis out there, and don't wish to come across as insensitive. However I would l like to share some of my tips on how to live on the cheap.
1) My groceries are cheap
I don't eat meat/fish/eggs/dairy. Yep, full plant based diet since early 2021, for my health/animals and the environment (I've heard all the arguments against veganism so let's not get into it here).
I live on beans/ rice/ vegetables/ fruit/ nuts and seeds. I go through two bags of the 'McKenzie's 12 blend soup mix' per week, at a cost of $4.60 per week. Brown rice I eat costs $19 for 5kg (I usually stock up when they are half price, at $9.50). I consume 200g of rice per day, which is about $2.66 per week when bought on special.
My other staples are steamed/sauteed broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, zucchinis, sweet corn, sweet potato, eggplant, kale, and fresh cherry tomatoes, red capsicum, cucumber, lettuce, as well as chia seeds, hemp seeds, roasted cashews and almonds. These aren't expensive items either.
I don't eat vegan sausages/burger patties or cheese. I eat a whole foods plant based diet.
My snacks are fruit. Usually apples, bananas, kiwifruit, grapes are staples, with occasional berries when they are cheap.
Also I don't buy any processed food. No potato crisps (they were $3-4 per bag when I stopped buying them, but I've recently seen them selling for $6.50 a bag), no biscuits, no chocolate, no lollies, no cakes or cookies or anything with refined sugar.
2) I don't buy lunch when I'm at work
I pack my own lunch the previous night, while I'm cooking dinner. Lunch is basically a 2/3 serving of the vegetables/beans/rice I had the night before. as I find bought lunches are unhealthy, and aren't substantial enough to fill me up. My packed lunch probably costs me $3-4 in ingredients.
I used to buy lunch every day, at a cost of $10-12 daily, which meant around $2500 per year on lunch alone. Now it probably costs around $840.
3) I don't drink alcohol
I went through a craft beewine/cheese/cured meat phase for about 10 years, but gave these up not long after I gave up eating meat or other animal products. I've spent 0 cents on these foods in the past 2 years.
When I was a regular drinker, beers at the pub used to be $7.50 for Tooheys/Resches/Carlton Draught and $9.50 for the likes of Balter, Pirate Life, Feral, but I believe they cost up to $12.50. No thanks.
4) I don't buy coffee or eat in cafes.
I went through a trendy cafe phase in my 20s and 30s, and thought nothing of paying $24 for a cafe breakfast and $4.50 for a large flat white. Now I make my own coffee at home. I buy green beans at a cost for $12 per kg and roast them myself (I bought a coffee roaster for $950 four years ago which has paid for itself many times over), and use 10g of coffee per cup, which works out to be 12 cents per cup. My soy milk costs $2 per litre, and I use around 150mL per cup of coffee, at a cost of 30c per cup. So my coffee costs around 42 cents to make.
I haven't eaten in a cafe for about 5 years now.
5) I almost never order in, or get takeaway
Not that there are many good plant based meal delivery/takeaway options out there anyway, and I find ordering in/takeaway meals to be expensive, unsatisfying, lacking in substance and not worth the cost. I avoid refined sugar and there is far too much in most takeaway meals for my liking. I eat them begrudgingly, occasionally (when my wife orders them).
The cost of a meal is the cost of material, labour, business insurance, electricity/gas, rent, advertising, accounting + the profits.
The cost of my own meals are the cost of the materials + gas/electricity. Huge difference.
I honestly enjoy my own meals more.
6) My fitness routine is free
I don't go to the gym. I do 100 pushups, 20 pull-ups, and 50 sit-ups every day (without fail). I also run a total of 15-20km weekly, and enter 2 marathons a year at a cost of around $100-140 per event. My running shoes cost me around $120-140 every 18-24 months.
7) My entertainment costs very little
I pay $120 per year for a Disney+ subscription, mainly for my children. It has more content than I could watch in my lifetime. We do a Family Movie Night once a week, usually Disney/Pixar animation films.
I also watch stuff on Youtube, and don't pay anything to skip ads or anything.
I have been to the cinema twice in the last 7 years, to see the latest James Bond and Top Gun 2. I stopped going to the movies regularly when the cost of a movie ticket hit $20, also around the time streaming services became available for $10 a month.
8) I don't use heating in winter or cooling in summer.
I am rugged in up 4 layers at the moment. I wear a thermal top, a knitted top, a polar fleece jacket and then an Oodie on top.
In summer I don't use the air con. It's singlets and shorts in summer, and when it gets too hot to sleep, it's a fan on timer to switch off after 1 hour, and it works every time.
I live in a townhouse and pay around $200 per quarter for electricity (for a family of 4). My next door neighbour pays $800 per quarter, as he heats/cools his home all the time.
9) I don't spend much money on clothes or shoes
My favourite clothing brand is yd, my socks are from Target and my shoes are $120 Adidas sneakers.
I have clothes and shoes for every weather and every occasion, and don't buy new clothes or shoes unless I'm replacing old ones to be thrown out.
10) I don't spend much money on the latest tech.
My hp laptop cost me $1200 in 2017. Still runs like new, and unlikely to need an upgrade for another 5 years. My phone is a Samsung S20 FE, which I bought 2.5 years ago for $750.
My Galaxy tablet cost me $280 earlier this year. I buy a new one every 5 years on average.
I can't fathom paying $3000 for a 14 inch Macbook, $1500 for an iPad, or $1400 for an iPhone.
My mobile plan is through a cheap provider at $25 per month.
So there you have it, the reasons why I believe I spend less than 90% of people while earning in the top 1%.
I'm not penny pinching or forcing myself to live like a pauper to save money while denying myself the pleasures I want. We go on overseas holidays 2-3 weeks every year, live in a nice spot in Sydney, own two luxury European cars, and own some pretty nice things.
My hobbies are reading, blogging, going out (which means exploring my favourite parts of Sydney, and taking snaps), posting on various internet forums, watching movies at home.
I grew up in a middle income household and being thrifty was instilled in me from a young age. When I was a student I lived liked a student, and when I started earning I didn't really change my spending habits.

I (26f) want to divorce my husband of 4 years (26m) and I would like some advice. Here is some background. My husband, we will call him E, and I met in college and have been together for over 7 years. He was very different when we met and I believe major traumas from his childhood and his parents tumultuous divorce a few years back have made him become who he is. I only found out about his alcohol and weed problems and his childhood trauma AFTER we got married. The trauma part I found out about a month ago. I obviously donât blame him for what happened to him when he was young and itâs not at all a reason I want to leave. 2021 we had our first child and the beginning of this year (2023) I found out I am pregnant again. We are both overjoyed but the timing is hard. 2022 he teetered the line from asshole to abusive. Verbally, sexually, and emotionally. He even threatened to kll me if I ever leave him or cheat on him. Other than his alcoholism problems and the many things he has lied to me about that I wonât get into he is genuinely just so mean to me and I have had enough. His family, my family, random people we come into contact with, friends all see how badly he treats me yet I have a hard time telling myself this is all justified. This past January I gave him the choice to get a divorce or for him to go to therapy and leave the house for 3 months only coming home on the weekends and staying on the couch. He did just that which I appreciated. But the way he treated me at home never changed. Those three months I realized how happy I was even though I was pregnant taking care of our toddler, dog, cats, and the home. He moved back in and still sleeps on an extra bed I got downstairs but still treats me terribly. He absolutely gaslights me and tells me everything is me and my fault and that Iâm selfish.
I have been a SAHM since our first son was born but went back to work in February for a measly 9 hours a week (bringing my toddler with me) to save up money for myself in case I need to leave (he knows that). After 5 weeks of therapy by himself I started going with and we have been doing couples counseling for a few months now. I really tried for that time but ended up going to a few sessions alone (E relapsed and couldnât make it) so I told our therapist that I wanted to start my âescape planâ as he calls it. Our therapist highly suggested E go to NA or AA and he went once and said it âwasnât for himâ. Our therapist is very worried for my safety, as am I, and we made a plan to confiscate Es guns. We also plan to tell him AT therapy and for me to take my son to stay elsewhere for a couple weeks so E can have the house to figure out where to live next. I guess what I want out of posting this other than to rant is any advice about going forward. Logistics is what is stressing me out. Having a newborn AND a toddler while navigating a fresh divorce (should I wait to ask for the divorce until after his paternity leave is up in Dec?). Our house mortgage is very cheap so it makes sense for me to stay in it with the kids and all our animals and for him to just find a room somewhere to pay cheap rent. He fully pays for everything and I guess he would expect me to get a job which would be extremely hard with a toddler and a newborn when he works mostly 6 days a week. Im worried how lawyers and court and child support will go. I would hope he could make it easy for us but I know he will feel very hurt by this all. I tried to find a way E wouldnât feel used financially and how to make it easy on him but my therapist told me that he WILL feel used and thereâs no way for it to be fair on him. I (26f) want to divorce my husband of 4 years (26m) and I would like some advice. Here is some background. My husband, we will call him E, and I met in college and have been together for over 7 years. He was very different when we met and I believe major traumas from his childhood and his parents tumultuous divorce a few years back have made him become who he is. I only found out about his alcohol and weed problems and his childhood trauma AFTER we got married. The trauma part I found out about a month ago. I obviously donât blame him for what happened to him when he was young and itâs not at all a reason I want to leave. 2021 we had our first child and the beginning of this year (2023) I found out I am pregnant again. We are both overjoyed but the timing is hard. 2022 he teetered the line from asshole to abusive. Verbally, sexually, and emotionally. He even threatened to kll me if I ever leave him or cheat on him. Other than his alcoholism problems and the many things he has lied to me about that I wonât get into he is genuinely just so mean to me and I have had enough. His family, my family, random people we come into contact with, friends all see how badly he treats me yet I have a hard time telling myself this is all justified. This past January I gave him the choice to get a divorce or for him to go to therapy and leave the house for 3 months only coming home on the weekends and staying on the couch. He did just that which I appreciated. But the way he treated me at home never changed. Those three months I realized how happy I was even though I was pregnant taking care of our toddler, dog, cats, and the home. He moved back in and still sleeps on an extra bed I got downstairs but still treats me terribly. He absolutely gaslights me and tells me everything is me and my fault and that Iâm selfish.

Having a newborn AND a toddler while navigating a fresh divorce (should I wait to ask for the divorce until after his paternity leave is up in Dec?). Our house mortgage is very cheap so it makes sense for me to stay in it with the kids and all our animals and for him to just find a room somewhere to pay cheap rent. He fully pays for everything and I guess he would expect me to get a job which would be extremely hard with a toddler and a newborn when he works mostly 6 days a week. Im worried how lawyers and court and child support will go. I would hope he could make it easy for us but I know he will feel very hurt by this all. I tried to find a way E wouldnât feel used financially and how to make it easy on him but my therapist told me that he WILL feel used and thereâs no way for it to be fair on him. 28 M, 5â9 150lbs, no medications, history of chronic sinusitis and bi polar disorder. I use nicotine no alcohol or drugs.
Symptoms: dizziness, difficulty swallowing , cramps in legs , stomach cramps, waking up just feeling fatigue that last throughout the day. Tight neck and back. This has all been going on for months ( believe in started in October)
Info so far: Been to several drs who typically dismiss me as being a young healthy male. Give me very little time of day. Iâm becoming frustrated. I finally got a dr to order some tests. Abnormalities I see include: high albumin 5.4 H ( reference range 3.6-5.1) , Low ALT 7 ( reference range 9-46 U/L), And then they also performed an ANA test on me which I tested POSITIVE with a speckled pattern. That ANA was 140 which said negative was >140 , 140-180 low , 180 + high.
My question: I did some research, does this mean I have an autoimmune disease? Reading these results do any DRs have any concerns from them?
After my lab results the dr never followed up to discuss them or anything. I had to beg the office to just send the results. Thank you for taking time to review I greatly appreciate it !

His high individual placements are nothing but an illusion caused by the heatwaves off of his computer. People bring up his 3rd on a 10th place team, but how could he let his team place 10th in the first place?? PeteZahHutt isnât S-tier.
PeteZahHuttâs Season 1 was the closest we have ever gotten to a true S-tier. But it still wasnât enough. And heâs only gotten worse since then, not having touched 1st individual since MCC17.PeteZahHutt S-tier truthers will bring up his MCC 25 second half and call it the best comeback in MCC history. But I think itâs unfair to change the goalposts and inaccurately reflect his performance in that event as a whole. Anyway, remember how he placed 41st in MCC 15?? Demoted.
Antfrost isnât S-tier.
Antfrost can be quite the menace in TGTTOS. Remember when he one-punched his team into 3rd place? How could he let that happen. And now, punching has been nerfed, so Ant has lost even more power.Antfrost S-tier truthers say his consistent high placements are a testament to his skill. But did you know that Antfrost has been second-frag in 33% of his canon MCCâs?? No need to look at the specific MCCâs, this alone proves he is carried. Demoted.
Jojosolos isnât S-tier.
Jojosolos is praised as a leader, but she does terribly in all team games. Do you know that she spent 4.5 minutes on the tower puzzle in Grid Runners??? Unbelievable.Jojosolos S-tier truthers bring up that she âledâ 3 essentially new players to victory. But she still placed 5th individually. On top of that, she let CapitanGato carry her with a 1v3 in dodgebolt.
But her most heinous act of all was when she took the green vault instead of sharing with Gato. Demoted instantly.
Quig isnât S-tier.
People who think Quig is S-tier must have a harder time seeing than he does through his extra-tinted sunglasses. He isnât #1 in any game. People downplay this by calling him âJack of all trades.â But thatâs lame. He needs to pick a game and get so good at it that everyoneâs computers explode whenever the game is played.Quig S-tier truthers talk about how he is the âfirst S-tierâ because he was the first to place 1st individual twice in a row. But remember how he lost MCC on his BIRTHDAY?? Demoted.
Punz isnât S-tier.
Punz hasnât been performing like an S-tier recently. Or ever. He only placed 1st once, and on a 3rd place team? Carried. And his recent performances are even worse.Punz S-tier truthers will bring up that he âledâ his team to victory in MCC 28. But that performance was bad for the same reasons as Jojo 31.

Although knowing Lord and Miller, if any of these do come true, they'd push that narrative to the best of their ability.
1) Miles dying in Beyond to break the Spider-Man canon cycle of pain
I've seen this one floating around a lot, and apparently it's to mirror the original Ultimate Spider-Man's death in the comics. I just hope this one doesn't come true cause it doesn't make sense from an arc perspective and seems like an abrupt ending for the first ever silver screen iteration of Miles Morales.
2) Miguel was lying about his tragic backstop, and more specifically that he killed his alternate universe counterpart of Miguel to take that universe
This one I just loathe. Miguel's anti-hero story should be shown not told in the past-tense. I have to get the feeling he's a antagonist even while he's doing something for his idea of the "greater good". The best anti-heroes are the ones you can sympathize and sometimes agree with and this theory just negates that. Plus Peter B. Parker was there when his universe got deleted so maybe he also was apart of that project.
3) The Spider was meant to bite Earth-42 Miles
I'm on the fence about this one. It does make sense to a degree, but I also think ATSV crafted a narrative which is meant to be a commentary on how Miles Morales was treated when he was first introduced as Spider-Man (which the directors confirmed). I do think this theory could work narratively, but I also think it'd hurt that message in ATSV about Miles being an anomaly and the majory of people in the fanbase saying he was a diversity token in 2015. Saying it was always meant to be Miles sort of takes away from Miles being unique and the trendsetter for all Spider-Men. I also like the narrative that we don't know who the Spider was meant to bite. It could have been anyone. That Spider could've gone on the wrong paint can and Uncle Aaron would've gotten bit. Imagine that universe. I like the ambiguousness of it all. I also strongly believe that Miles was always meant to become the Prolwer until that spider bit him and he met Peter Parker.
4) Christopher Daniel Barnes isn't in BTSV
come on Sony, you got Josh Keaton, now bring my other boy in. And while you're at it, give Keaton more lines, or give him the third season
5) Rio in Earth-42 is dating Uncle Aaron
This theory just sucks. The conversation between Miles and Rio on the rooftop during the party made me think about how good a judge of character she is. Also she knows full well Uncle Aaron did some shady shit, and dating him after that is just insulting to her character.
6) Gwen/Spider-Byte dies to fulfill the canon that every Spider-Man's gotta lose a love interest
Yeah, I just don't like this one. Especially since Miles is supposed to push the boundaries of what it means to be Spider-Man and that tragedy isn't necessarily required to become a hero.
7) No Leopardon
PLEASE BRING TAKUYA YAMASHIRO I AM ON MY KNEES PRAYING
8) Bringing in the Inheritors/ Miguel is an Inheritor
I could see this working with a certain flare, but I also think it seems a bit off course with the current narrative. Plus, from a marketing standpoint, Sony would hate it especially after Morbius' failure.
9) Miles is going live action, hence the name "Beyond the Spider-Verse"
This is the worst theory of them all. Like maybe a live action gag would be nice, but a full part of the movie being irl is just a spit in the face of animation. Live action was never an upgrade and is arguably a downgrade from animation. If I had the choice, I'd make the entire MCU animated like a moving comic book, just like Spider-Verse does, because cinematicâ leaving animation out.
