Hi! I just started on a 6 day course of prednisone 4 mg per tablet. I have a colonoscopy and endoscopy coming up in a month. They are suspecting IBD. My primary care dr gave me prednisone since I’ve been in such severe pain and I can’t wait a month without any treatment. It’s only been a day on it and I already feel considerably better. Not 100 % at all but manageable now.
My question is will me being on this for a week affect the results of my colonoscopy? Will they still be able to see IBD if it is there, even if the prednisone helps stop some of the inflammation?
I will be telling my gastroenterologist that they started me on a prednisone so hopefully they will take that into consideration and also the fact that I’m doing a lot better on it.

One of my closest friends is getting married to his long time girlfriend. They’re Chinese and I’m Indian. Obviously I’m invited to their wedding. I’ve been to many Malay and Indian weddings before but this is my first time attending a Chinese one.
My friend kinda warned me that both sides of the family are not usually close to Indians so I’m probably going to be one of the few or the only Indian in a wedding of about 500-700 people.
Ngl this is probably gonna be really awkward. The possibility of being the only Indian makes me nervous because I’ll stick out like a sore thumb if I unintentionally did something rude or embarrassing. Nevertheless I’ll still be there to celebrate the happiest day of my boy’s life
Can someone walk me through me the process of how the average Chinese wedding experience is like? What are the usual gifts? How long are the ceremonies? What is generally expected from the guests?

It’s day 8 without subs. This has been a week from hell. •Day 1 : Didn’t feel too uncomfortable, mental cravings mainly •Day 2 : Started to feel uncomfortable during the day, night time rolls around and I try to sleep and it feels as though someone is constantly tickling my feet and sides. Got about 6 hours of sleep •Day 3 : Starting to really feel the affects of the withdrawals during the day. Crying out of no where for no reason. Night time rolled around and only got 4 hours of sleep •Day 4 : woke up extremely nauseous but couldn’t throw up. Sleep was non existent at this point •Day 5 : woke up violently throwing up, fetal position in the shower for the whole day. No sleep that night either •Day 6 : still violently puking. Sweating everywhere. Cold sweats and hot flashes. Went to the hospital for an IV drip. 4 hours of sleep •Day 7 : finally got some sleep, starting to feel better, no more nausea or vomiting Day 8 : physical cravings gone, mental cravings still there. I sound like an idiot for wanting to take them again. I know it’s all mental but my question is, if I just take them for one day, would I go through this whole process again? Thanks in advance

Hi everyone, I wanted to post this to help some people decide whether to get pet insurance or not. I recently evaluated the cost of the insurance vs what they paid. This is my experience with 2 smallish dogs. I got my pet insurance when they were 7 and now they are 14. In those years I figure the premiums I have paid for each averaged $75/mo. This insurance was cheaper in the beginning but has increased as they have aged. I got $500 deductible with 90% coverage. So the total I have paid for each dog about $6300, for the 7 yrs coverage. For Dog A, I had 12 claims totaling $6906. And the amount approved and paid for him was $976. For Dog B, I had 11 claims totaling $4946, and the amount approved and paid was $954.00 So for Dog A- $6300 insurance premiums + $6906 expenses = $13,206 total expense, with a payment rate of roughly 7% ($976.). But for the pet insurance company the profit on me is roughly 85% And for Dog B-$6300 insurance premiums + $4946 expenses= $11,246 total expense, with a payment rate of roughly 8% ($954.). And for the pet insurance company the profit on me is another 85% here
My policy does not cover preventatives, annual exams, or dental work. In addition the $500. deductible is per diagnosis, so if I go in with doggy diarrhea, the $500 must be met before anything is even eligible for coverage. A limp, $500. deductible….etc. This means you must file paperwork knowing you will not get paid, but in case it happens again. If the diarrhea is for an issue down the line, it won’t even apply to that diagnosis., if the limp turns out to be a slight ACL tear, that’s when another diagnosis requires another $500 deductible. If like my dogs, they have several issues, the deductibles certainly add up., and you must keep track of all that to get payment when deductibles are met.
I bought the insurance, like many others, thinking if something really bad happens they will be covered. But the truth is…it is a false sense of security., and a VERY expensive one. You have to fight to get your invested money back. Of those claims I mentioned, I had to appeal denied claims decisions many times, sometimes I won and sometimes I did not.
I will keep these policies in place for my 2 Senior Dogs, but my next dogs, no. Instead, I will set aside the premium amount in a separate savings account, and use as needed. I know some can’t budget that way, but I can, and will. I just wanted those that are interested, to know, that this IS NOT a cheaper alternative. In fact, I understand now why so many companies are getting into the pet care insurance business.
Of course this is only my experience, some may have a different view. I just thought I would share

Hello, autorepair!
Apologies for the length of this post, but I want to provide all the detail I can.
The car in question is a 2012 Volvo S60 T5 with 99,500 miles on the odo. My daughter called me two weekends ago to tell me her car starting shaking while in a Starbucks drive through. I told her to park it and I would go look at it. From what she described, I figured it was a cylinder misfire. The car is from the generation of Volvo 5-cylinders that are oil burners, but I did not think it had anything to do with that as I have tried to train her to check the oil and stay on top of it.
When I got to the car, I tried to crank it to see the issue for myself, but it would only turn over for a few seconds and then stop trying to crank. I checked the oil and it was low, but only about half a quart.
I had the car towed to my home, and last weekend I replaced the ignition coil packs and spark plugs and put in a new battery as the old one was 5 years old (in Florida heat) and was testing marginal. When I went to crank the car, I got a click, but nothing else. The click was not the multiple clicks of a low battery charge, just a single click/thunk kind of sound.
I did some Google-fu and determined it was likely a starter issue, so I pulled the starter and had it tested, and it was indeed bad. So, I replaced the starter, after hand-cranking the crankshaft to ensure the engine was not seized, and voila, the engine cranked over. The car did not, however, start. After checking the spark plugs to make sure they were gapped well and that the wiring connections to the coils packs were solid, I tried again today to crank the car, and nothing but a click again.
I am smelling fuel and I know the battery is good because I took it back to AutoZone to be tested. The starter is new, too, so I now find myself out of ideas. The car is not throwing any codes other than those from battery disconnection that I cleared.
So, anyone have any ideas about what to look for next? I just purchased new cars for my daughters last week due to this issue, so I am just trying to get the Volvo running so I can sell it. I appreciate any insight the folks on this sub can provide.

I just built my first PC with an i5 13600k (14 cores, 5ghz) and an RTX 4070, and I feel like I am getting lower fps than I should be. In Minecraft Hypixel 1.8 I get around 500-1300fps, but my friend with an RTX 3060 gets 1k-2k fps. In Fortnite I get 500-700fps, but people with 3070 and 3070 ti get 900+fps. I have all latest drivers and I even use performance settings. I optimized NVIDIA Control Panel, but I can't seem to figure out why the fps is low. It shouldn't be a bottleneck as the CPU and GPU are a good pair and none of them are used significantly more than the other. Here are my full PC specs:

So, let me first preface this with I don’t want anyone to feel bad or sorry for me. I generally don’t talk about this because I don’t want people’s sympathy, I just want someone to listen… or no one to listed and for me to just vent lol.
My father had an affair with my mother and I was the outcome from it. Through out my mom’s pregnancy he would send her letters saying he was going to leave his wife and bring his other kids to start a life with her “for real” but those were all lies to comfort my mother. When push came to shove the day I was born my mother and my father had a contractual agreement that my mom would never force my father to pay child support and in return he would never be allowed to have custody of me. This was to ensure that his family would never find out about his bastard child, which to this day they still don’t know I am assuming. My mother never dated anyone else and to this day has remained single.
When I was a young child through grade school I was bullied pretty severely because I did not have a father. Kids are mean is all I can say lol 🤷‍♂️ but this caused me to have a less than ideal relationship with my mother because she refused to tell me anything about why my father wasn’t around until I was an adult. My mother kept all of the letters that her and my father sent back and forth while they were apart for the roughly three years that they were having an affair and I stumbled upon them when I was 15. From that time I completely resented my mother for her decision making, I hated myself for representing their lust for each other, I hated my father for obvious reasons. When I turned 18 I left home to go to college and the relationship continued to deteriorate with my mother until we completely stopped interacting and she moved across the country.
My early 20’s were nothing but struggles. Periods of couch surfing, consistently working 2-3 jobs just to try and make ends meet. I dropped out of college after two years because I couldn’t balance working 60-80 hours a week and making all of my classes. This really was my low point in life, and I was dealing with it using alcohol and elicit narcotics.
After a near death experience I completely changed my approach on life. My work ethic had never wavered, the day to day struggles to pay my bills and keep a roof over my head we’re real but I chose a route of forgiveness instead of resentment. My late 20’s were spent trying to rebuild relationships with my mother and my true friends. I managed to go back to and finish college utilizing some tuition reimbursement benefits for the company I was and still am working for today.
Fast forward to present day, I live a sober life with better but not perfect relationship with my mother. We don’t talk about my childhood or my father at all because there is still bad blood there that I can’t forgive so I try to forget. In reality, I still struggle with my existence. I still struggle to understand how my mother and father thought this was okay or was the best outcome. I am pretty confident I will always be bitter about this and have accepted that I will never understand. I choose to try and be a better person and to learn from the mistakes that I represent being alive.
There is no real reason for posting this other than it’s been on my mind a lot and I needed a place to compartmentalize my thoughts and just vent. 😊

so i met someone and he wants me to travel 2 hours he said a couple times a month. what should i charge ? he says he doesn’t want to be intimate. He just text and said 500$ for a meet. should i just drop him ? i doubt he is going to pay for me texting him and i 500 sounds like a low ball to travel 2 hours

My 14-year-old Aussie mix is in remission from Lymphoma. He was found to have CHD by imaging last year and has been on 7.5mg/day since then. His onconologist prescribed it after his cardiac assessment. The vet has told me she will not renew his prescription unless he gets more imaging at the 1-year mark. The imaging is around $500 with anethesia, etc. Is this really necessary? I am correct in thinking that there is no way he would need to stop Vetmedin? What is the downside to keeping him on 7.5mg vs. upping it? Wouldn't it be worse for him to take nothing compared to a dose that may be too low? If he was 5 years old with no other health problems, I could see spending the money, but at his age and health history, it seems a bit much. Thank you!

I've had my PC for a couple of years and it performs well for basic tasks and performs well/okayish for gaming depending the game. It's what I could afford at the time and while I've been happy for the most part, lately I've been wanting a lot more performance than what my current setup can do (especially since going from 60hz to 144hz).
I'm upgrading the GPU to a 6600 XT and down the road I'm going to upgrade the CPU or just get a new PC. I know the 6600 XT is going to be held back by my current CPU/MBD, but I think I'll be able to get by in the meantime until I do a complete PC overhaul. AMD CPU's/MBD's are pretty cheap nowadays, so if I go the new PC route, I'll probably go AMD next time around. And if/when I do get a new PC, I'll move the 6600 XT from my old PC to the new one.
