2023.06.10 06:46 AstronautPuzzled6733 How to Pass Your Learners Permit Test in 2023
Whether you are applying for a regular driver’s license, motorcycle permit or commercial driving license, there is one thing all students have in common: they will need to pass a knowledge exam.
Thankfully, there are some things you can do to prepare for your test and increase your chances of passing.
Study Your Driver?s Handbook
Before you head to the DMV to take your knowledge test, it is a good idea to thoroughly read through the driver?s handbook. This is where you will find information on all the topics that will be covered on your test, including road signs, traffic laws, driving and safety rules, drunk and distracted driving, and vehicle maintenance and upkeep.
The knowledge test is 20 questions and you must get 14 correct answers to pass. The questions are centered around New York driving and driver safety, but they do not include specific questions about any one topic. You can also download the driver?s handbook as a PDF or audio file so you can review the information on the go or with your voice-activated digital assistant.
When you are ready to head to the DMV, be sure to bring your completed Non-Commercial Learner Permit Application (form MV-44), proof of identity and residency, a parent or legal guardian?s signed consent form, and the appropriate fee. The DMV also offers a document guide you can use to determine which documents are required depending on whether you are applying for an ID compliant or non-compliant permit.
Try Taking a DMV Practice Test
One of the best ways to study for your permit test is to use a DMV practice app. This app will help you prepare for the knowledge exam by providing you with questions that are similar to those that you might face in your exam.
It also includes a list of the necessary documents you will need to bring with you to the DMV. The DMV recommends you arrive as early as possible in order to make sure you get there on time.
It is recommended that you bring your application for a non-commercial learner’s permit, proof of identity, proof of residency and payment for the appropriate fee. You will also need to have a completed Parent and Guardian Consent form or Certificate (MV-44). The app also provides information about the state driving laws and tips on how to pass your exam. You can take practice tests with a range of topics including road signs, driver safety and driving rules. Each question has a few variants of answers and the app will provide feedback on whether you chose the right answer or not.
Find a Permit Test Study Guide
Although there are plenty of unofficial study guides and learning tools out there, the best place to start your preparation is with the official state driver?s handbook. These booklets are created by the Department of Motor Vehicles and are available at DMV offices for free or as PDF downloads. The information is completely accurate and updated regularly to reflect current testing procedures.
The questions that you will be asked on your permit test are all centered around New York driving and safety. These questions will cover a wide range of topics including road signs, driver?s education, traffic laws, distracted driving, drunk driving and car maintenance and upkeep. There are also some chapters that cover useful but non-essential information about license types, application documents and other general driving topics. However, you can easily identify these sections by the opening contents page and skip past them when studying for your permit test.
Make sure that you take the time to read through your handbook and do some practice tests. By doing so you will be more confident when it comes time to take your actual written knowledge exam.
Read the Questions Thoroughly
When taking the test, read each question and answer choice carefully. Don’t skip any part of the question, and don’t spend too much time on questions you have trouble with. You might waste valuable time that you could have spent on the questions you know how to answer.
Start with the questions you know the answers to, and then move on to the ones you are unsure of. This will help you get the questions that are most important to you done first, and it will build your confidence from the outset. If you get stuck on a question, try to come up with an answer before looking at the answer choices. This will allow you to rule out answers that are too similar and may help you find the correct answer.
When you are finished, be sure to write your name clearly on the test and the answer sheet. This is one of the most common mistakes that students make and can cost you points. Be sure to take a deep breath and relax before handing the test in.

2023.06.10 06:25 Hellohihey123456 Walmart Parking Lot is a mess with beggers
I don't shop at walmart often, but I ran into the walmart on barranca and an older woman was riding around on a razor scooter through the parking lot asking everyone she could for money. I then watched her beg to a man in his car, who handed her money and then she turned around and got into a black car, and then got back on her scooter and started asking people again for money. She was super pushy and was following everyone to their cars, and looked like she was trying to push her way into some peoples cars when they told her no. I know this parking lot isn't the greatest, but just posting this as a quick reminder to be cautious of your surroundings because I just saw another article about theft for people alone in shopping centers in Irvine. Stay safe!

2023.06.10 06:17 PleasantFrosting8676 Help me find the right scooter
Hi guys, I don't know much about scooters, but I need an electric scooter for the summer to get me to work and back, or for a little cruise down the neighborhood for fun. I only need it for the summer because I get my car and license as soon as next school year starts. Hence, why I was looking to rent a scooter rather than buy one. My budget isn't very high, I was hoping to keep it under 250. I came across Unagi Scooters, which has exactly what I was looking for, $220 to rent for 4 months. I just wanted to get an expert's opinion to make sure that I am making the right decision and that I am not missing out on a better deal on a rental scooter. I tried to do as much research as possible but Unagi Scooters was the only scooter company that did monthly rentals that I could find. I am based in the United States if curious.

2023.06.10 06:06 malcontent75 Seeking to fulfill a dying friend's wish to possess a Mach-E
First off, I promise this isn't a scam. One of my closest friends was just diagnosed at age 52 with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer with metastasis to liver. He probably has about a year to live. After securing the future of his family, his most fervent wish has been to possess an EV. With two kids in college (one rising sophomore, one rising junior), his wife's response prior to this diagnosis has been "not now, honey." I would like to give him some true joy in his remaining days by securing him a Mach-E to drive (first choice, willing to consider other options of course (esp. Kia) but probably not a Tesla). He can't fly now due to blood clots on his lungs, so road trips with the family while they are all together this summer would be extremely special.
Please share any information you have on promising lease (shorter than Ford's general offer of 3 mos.) or longer-term rental arrangements, and of course if someone was interested in donating use that would be amazing, but that's not my expectation for this post. I'd love for him to have it for as long as he's able to drive but am willing to consider as short as a month. We're in Wyoming, but willing to drive a good distance (including to CA) to pick up and return the car. Please share any info you have about commercial opportunities that might align with what I've spelled out and PM me if you're willing to discuss the possibility of a private arrangement. Thanks for your consideration and above all, live life to the fullest! ML

2023.06.10 06:02 redditslayer95 Fender bender in a parking lot, who would be more liable?
I have a diagram
here to show how this happens.
So it was night time when this happened and there were two people arguing in a parking lot next to my job and we seen the whole thing on camera. It was a small fender bender, nobody was hurt, thankfully.
The orange car backs up first and is backing up to pull into a parking space on the opposite side of the blue car but more towards the entrance/exit. (The parking lot does have other cars in it but the diagram doesn't show this.)
Then the blue car pulls out and honks their horn after seeing the orange car backing up towards them at the last second and the orange car hits the back fender of the blue car. Nobody in the accident was using their caution lights but both did have reverse lights on.
The ppl in the blue car try to take pictures of the side of the orange car which already had noticeable scratches on it from a previous accident instead of the back of the car that hit the blue car.
The ppl in the blue car were in a rental, the ppl in the orange car owned their vehicle and claimed they hadn't yet gotten insurance for it because they just bought it a few months prior.
The people in the blue car didn't know what they could do to get their rental repaired because the ppl in the orange car had no insurance.
Is it a thing where the person without car insurance is more liable simply because they don't have insurance or is it the same when both ppl do or don't have insurance?
Who is more liable and why?

Any suggestions on what to except going to the service center and would this be covered under warranty

2023.06.10 05:52 sudzandtumble Court summons after car accident I was not at fault for
I got into a car accident back in March when another car drove out of my lane, onto the shoulder, and tried to get into the same lane in front of me and hit my car while doing so. I honked at the car to stop but the driver drove away. I snapped a quick picture of the plate and I also have a dashcam (front and back) which caught everything.
I called my insurance and got the driver’s name and insurance company. Their insurance company decided that their insured was 100% at fault and they covered my repairs, rental, etc. A few days in, the insurance company asked if I could send my footage to the driver’s lawyer - I had nothing to hide and it just showed that the driver was at fault so I sent it. I also googled the driver and because it was an uncommon name, found this person quickly. The person is a paralegal and there are records of this person trying to sue the city and a taxi company on separate occasions from car accidents.
I thought everything was done.
Fast forward 2.5 months - I am suddenly handed a court summons stating that the passenger who was in the car that hit me, is suing the driver and I for 5 million dollars for personal injuries. Their car hit me and my car had more damage than theirs so I don’t understand how they think they can sue for that much. I doubt he was even hurt.
I called my insurance company and their litigation department is taking care of it for now and I am now waiting to hear from the lawyer that they provided.
What are the chances that this person can get any money? Why is the passenger suing the driver - are they scheming something? The driver’s history seems so sketchy to me, like they are trying anything to try to get some money. Did I mess up by providing video footage?

2023.06.10 05:43 VirtualMoneyLover How much time to get through check-in and airport security on a Saturday?
Flying out tomorrow 12:35 pm. How much earlier should we arrive at the airport? 2 hours? What is the average time usually from arriving at the airport to make it to boarding?
We are coming from Puntarenas. Travel time by car is 75 minutes, but I like to give extra time. Of course not everybody agrees in the group when we should leave...

2023.06.10 05:40 pennydane Husband (29 m) is lying to me (26 f)
Husband lying about stupid stuff
My husband and I have been married almost 5 years, together for over 10. He's great; loving, attentive, etc. About a year ago we had a pretty big fight when he lied to me about being at work when he was at the bar. Like not just misleading, flat out lying when I asked about it. We worked through it and I made it super clear that honesty is a hard line for me and I am not going to stay with someone who lies to me. He agreed it was stupid he just wanted to go and was afraid I'd feel like he wanted to spend time with work people more than me. I made it clear I didn't care if he wanted to hang after work and I just needed to know what was going on.
Fast forward to today, and he did it again. Said he had to meet up with his boss and return his rental car from a business trip but he was at a bar and had already returned the rental. I genuinely believe he's just going to the bar with work friends and honestly wouldn't care if he didn't lie about it. Idk what to do, I feel like he's completely broken the trust. I made it clear last time I would not tolerate being lied to. He was literally on the phone with me in the parking lot of the bar pretending he was getting ready to head in to the building to see his boss.
Am I missing something and just over reacting? Is this typical behavior? Should I stick to my guns and leave?

2023.06.10 05:37 plerovight It appears the honeymoon is over :(
Same thing happened with Uber Rides as when I started Uber Eats and DoorDash. The first week I make a ton with lots of orders. Then after that it slows way way down.
Last Friday I got tons of rides and made a lot. Today I got three earlier in the day (two from the same person since I was waiting for another trip near where I dropped him off for like half an hour). I started up again at 9pm until 11. And didn't get a single trip. On a Friday night in a big city. I did get a couple good paying Uber Eats orders though.
I'm currently renting a car to do rides, and for the first week it was worth it, I made more even after the rental price. This week, I'll probably make less than my pre-rides average. So probably not going to rent anymore or do rides until I buy a car.

2023.06.10 05:32 eddieEXTRA Natural Gas Rates are through the roof!
Today I saved a cremation center in Oakland, CA 40% ($508k over 5 years) by pitting local energy suppliers against each other in a bidding war. They were paying nearly $40k per month! Cremation is one of the highest consumers of natural gas, you take care of humanities loved ones, and deserve better rates—which is why I want to help you.
Here’s what do:
- I don’t work for an energy company, so I’m unbiased when selecting who will get you the best rate.
- Once a bill is entered into our reverse auction system, the bigging frenzy takes a week to find out your savings and nothing changes to your bill except a new lower rate.
- Deregulation law is your right (Google if you're in a state with deregulated energy)—so if you don’t have a competitive and stable rate, you’re losing money daily.
- There won’t be any hidden fees or rate spikes during your agreement—all that’s required is a bill, I will never ask for personal or payment info.
This is a free service and I’m not selling anything—I just want to make sure you’re getting a competitive rate on your natural gas. With that said, I’d really appreciate the chance to talk to you. If interested reach out to me at 215-292-5875 or email me [

2023.06.10 05:32 EscapeIntelligent101 Hit by another car and the driver fled…can I ask the downtown STL police to identify that car?
My bf was driving my new car (arrived only 3 months ago) on downtown one-way streets and a grey Nissan sedan tried to turn left on the center lane. My dashcam recorded how that grey Nissan accelerated and sideswiped my car and went away without a stop.
My bf called the police. The police came and took some pictures and gave him his business card and a number…which we guess is the case number?(first time calling 911)
I was at work and didn’t know until very late…file a claim to my insurance but I’m not sure if I will get covered since my collision deductible is quite high and not sure if this applies to uninsured motorist.
Just wanna ask can the police here find that car? I have my dash cam video which showed pretty much everything except can’t read the license plate…we can even tell what state that plate was. Lived here for almost a year but never interacted with the STL police.

2023.06.10 05:08 incredulous_koala Midsize city with food options
I (40F) WFH and am looking to leave the city I currently live in (NYC) for something with smaller with a slower pace and more affordable.
—I grew up in a rural area and never want to live anywhere resembling a small conservative town again.
—Single, no children (none wanted). Would like to date, so I want a midsized liberal city.
—I’ve lived in a few northeast cities and grew up in northern Midwest, so I don’t mind winter.
—I would like to be able to purchase a small home for <$220k. With a small yard for a garden (no desert climate)
—I’m perfectly good with quiet suburbs. NYC had it’s moments, but I’m happier with a car and space and don’t need crazy nightlife. I do like being able to access diverse food.
—I’m very active, so I need good (close) gym options and would love some sort of access to nature (kayaking, hiking, etc.)
—reasonable access to an international airport.
My top pick is Milwaukee so far, even though Wisconsin is a red state, it’s surrounded by blue and seems to have the usual city liberal slant? It’s affordable, has proximity to Chicago, is on Lake Michigan. How are the food options? Would it be easy to date and build a community not centered around drinking or kids?
Other options I’ve looked at are Pittsburgh (concerned about the aiwater quality and it’s distance from anything else), and St. Paul (I mean, I’m no stranger to winter… but yikes, how would it compare to a Michigan winter?). Richmond sounded great, but I’m priced out. Open to other options as well! TIA.

2023.06.10 04:59 littlelua2 Girls trip to Tulum next week! Help!
Going to Tulum for 3 days with a friend next week and would really love some recommendations, especially after reading some disturbing things (but trying not to let that get in my head).
We are both women, 37, and overall looking to do some fun activities (cenotes, snorkeling, sightseeing, brewery, etc.) and also have some fun at night around people close to our age (but nothing too crazy).
We’re renting a car and driving from Cancun and really wanted to know the best and safest area for us to stay (debating between beach x town center x other area, hostel x hotel, etc.) and also some cool recommendations of places to go for the activities (maybe also some hidden gems that are not super crowded), food, nightlife..
Any help is greatly appreciated!! :)
