2023.05.29 04:48 VancouverGrizzlies1 Is Seattle in a Renaissance?

Vancouverite here who just visited your city again for the first time in over a year.
Last time I visited, everything was under construction, streets were empty, shops boarded up, and lots of interesting characters on the street where I would normally not have seen them (touristy areas).
Now the city is bumping and looks gorgeous. Whatever was under construction (including transit) seems to be online now and I feel like your city’s population has increased by a million (why on earth is every other license plate in the city from California).
In 5 years or so, Seattle looks like it will be the darling of the US pacific coast.
Keep going my Cascadian cousins, we are loving your new look and vibe!

2023.05.29 04:47 LegitProsecco Infant starts daycare Tues. I’m a wreck.

After tomorrow’s US holiday, my precious 4MO will start daycare. I’ve been back to work a month. It’s been hard going back. Originally, he was going to start in Aug- I currently WFH. My mom was to help us until then. I cannot work well with him and my mom around. My mom is driving me nuts and all I want to do is spend time with my son. I can’t get into the work zone. We got a call about an opening in June so we’re taking it. Since he was born, I’ve probably spent the equivalent of 3 days away from him (broken up in hours for errands etc).
I’m going to miss him so much. Seeing him when I want. Experiencing his smile though out the day. Knowing every little moment because he’s nearby. He’s my greatest joy.
I know millions of women do it. But I’m so distraught. I feel guilt because someone else will be spending most of his awake time with him and it’s not me- his mom. I won’t be the one to sooth his tears. Hell- I won’t even know when he’s crying. I spent so much of my life making my career and now I’d kill to have a partner with a salary to let me stay home and care for him. It’s bizarre. This new version of me is so surprising.
I’m going to spend my MD cuddling him, being super present and likely doing a ton of crying. I’m not ready for this but it’s happening. 💔

2023.05.29 04:46 rposter99 **Car Audio Recommendation Form (5-7k USD budget)

* **What are your goals for your car audio system - as loud as possible (SPL)? Sound quality (SQ)? Some combination of both? Describe to us how you want your system to sound.** Ideal setup would be heavily skewed towards sound quality and ability to have strong base.--- *

**What vehicle? - year, make, model, type (coupe, sedan, SUV, truck, etc.)** 2023 Honda Pilot Sport --- *

**What is your maximum budget?** 5k-7k USD --- *

**Will you be installing the gear or are you going to a shop? If a shop is doing the work, does your budget include the cost of labor?** I guess I would be interested in both options. I have no clue whatsoever how much labor for this type of work is, so yes it would have to be factored into the budget. --- *

**What gear is in your existing system? (Is it stock? List any aftermarket gear.)** Brand new, completely stock. --- *

**What is your country of purchase? Leave any finishing thoughts here.** United States (Upper Midwest) - I want to upgrade all of the speakers and add a great sub/amp. Sound quality is most important feature, but needs to have excellent base. Also want to get recommendations for a dashcam and radar device to fit into this budget as well.

2023.05.29 04:46 I_buy_mouses1977 Interested in Acura

In the next year or so, I’ll be in the market for a decent used car. I want a vehicle with enough power that it’s fun to drive. I’ve been doing a lot of internet window shopping. My original plan was a 2011-2015 Mustang with the V6 (better gas mileage, lower insurance expense, newer car for less money than the V8 option, etc.) I’ve decided that the Mustang probably won’t happen, and am considering other options. Right now, my front-runners are 2010 or newer V6 Acuras (MDX or TL) or Honda Accord. Just curious what you TL owners think. Are there model years to avoid? Unicorn models to watch for? Why do you like your TL? Would you buy one again? Do you regret your purchase? Any info you can share, I’d love to hear it!

2023.05.29 04:46 letsnotfail Has anyone had all animations randomly start to go in slow-motion all of the sudden towards the end of your games? It happens instantly and feels like the game is at 50% speed until i restart.

Title. It feels like semi-slow motion, so irritating, not related to lag at all. I have only had this ever since the big initial patch. Happens like every other game for me so I have to restart it unless I want to watch the battle for half of the turn and then watch my shop animations going in slow-motion.

2023.05.29 04:45 Emotional-Theory7281 Any Detroit expats here?

I grew up on the west side of the city, near 7 mile and the American Jewelry and Loan pawn shop. Went to Vandenburg Elementary before it closed then went to Vernor Elementary. Bates Academy for middle school, suburban high school. I went to Wayne for my BS + MS engineering.
I currently live on the east coast , and I didn’t realize until I left how truly horribly the rest of the world views Detroit; it hurts my soul every time I here someone speaking poorly about it. I love Detroit and I loved going to school there in college. Life was very hard as I grew up very poor, but Detroit has a special place in my heart.
I’m considering moving back to Detroit in a few years. I’m just wondering what other expat experiences are, and how your view of the city changed once you left?

2023.05.29 04:43 Open1816 An embarrassing story to brighten your day

I just wanted to share this overly embarrassing story so it may prevent someone else doing the same as I did.
It was the weekend and my partner and I decided to do some window shopping at some stores, we went to Cartier, Gucci, and botegga. I’ve always loved the green Jodi so we tried them on and looked at all the colours. Unfortunately they didn’t have the colour + size I wanted so we left.
We continued walking around the city and noticed a second hand luxury designer store that ive always seen on instagram but have never been to! I very excitedly told him about it and went right in. They had shoes, clothes and bags but im a handbag girlie so of course I gravitated towards that.
And there it was, my dream Jodi bag on the little sofa area where you can try shoes on so I ran towards it and said very loudly in this tiny store “BABE ITS THE BAG I WANT!!!” We both got excited and I was frantically rummaging through the bag to find a price tag since its second hand I assumed it would be much cheaper.
As I was looking through the bag I was so excited I didn’t really become aware of my surroundings, I was holding the bag up to my face trying to find this stupid tag but there were so many thing inside which confused me, but I just thought maybe they’re trying to show how the bag can be used and what can fit inside since it is quite small. There were 2 wallets, movie tickets, a pad and more. I started thinking to myself wtf is this why is there a pad I mean wallet ok I get but a pad in a store bag on display? Seems odd.
Then it struck me, I was looking through a shoppers bag and this bad was infuse NOT for sale. It took an embarrassingly long time to realise it and I immediately put the bag down and left the store. The store was quite small and there were only 4 other shoppers but nobody said anything, they must’ve seen me I mean…..
Anyways please don’t make the same mistake I did I feel so embarrassed but had to share. Please let me know your embarrassing stories too so I don’t feel as bad😂😅

2023.05.29 04:42 onthedunesea Did anyone else find Legends & Lattes disappointing? Warning: SPOILERS

I felt there was a lot of hype about Legends & Lattes with it being a cozy, D&D inspired story. I did enjoy it but the romance storyline was totally disappointing for me! I understood it to be WLW (which it is), and I admit I will jump at it if I hear this. When I picked up the book, I hesitated as it is written by a man...because what do men know about WLW? I've never read a WLW book written by a man. But I decided to give it a chance.
It started off fine, Viv is likeable, the love interest was clear, the two main characters make a good match. THEN Gallina is mentioned, someone in Viv's old adventuring party who was also an old GF and who Viv wants to especially apologize to for how she left? Sounds promising, except when she makes an appearance there seems to be nothing between them, past or present, and Gallina is trying to hint to Viv that Tandri likes her. Must be ANCIENT history?? Regardless.
NEXT ISSUE: Viv and Tandri have like no sparks between them? Every romantic interaction begins awkwardly. They slept in the same bedroll back to back and no one made a move. When they finally kissed I FELT NOTHING. Where are the butterflies? I don't need it to be spicy but the romance is robotic and vague while the action scenes are described in detail.
FINALLY: Viv's big romantic gesture is BUILDING SEPARATE ROOMS FOR THEM IN THE LIVING SPACE OF THE COFFEE SHOP?? Not even, like, "hey I made this HUGE living space with ONE BED would you like to live here with me?" I get it. Some folks like separate living spaces. But for the sake of romance? Are they together or not? I have no closure.
I totally get that this book is not marketed as a romance novel but with the romance as a major plot point I felt like we deserved more. Viv constantly refers to Tandri as a friend and a lot of the movement in the relationship is done by Gallina and Darius hinting that Tandri likes her and that they should be together. I did enjoy the book a lot. I felt like spirit fire is a bit out of the realm of low stakes, but no one got hurt. I probably will read Bookshops & Bonedust. I just wanted more out of the romanceeee

2023.05.29 04:42 Separate-Match5731 Owning up to my mistake paid off

I goofed on a $150 shop today. A family on vacation put in an order and it included those apple snack packs. They wanted 6. I grabbed the last 6 in inventory and after I processed the order and was bagging their order, I noticed that the apple slices were rotten.. ugh... i called the customer to let them know I screwed up and that they can call Shipt support for a refund. I also left a hand written note in their order apologizing for my goof and gave them the Shipt support number for a refund. An hour later, a $25 dollar tip! so far no ratings hit. Hopefully I avoided not getting orders. Lol.. other than that, they were happy with the subs I recommended and add ons.

2023.05.29 04:41 Suspicious-Call-9291 Maternity Clothing In Store?

Hi everyone,
I've always fit pants and bras a bit weird, and need to try them on. I attempted to buy online, and haven't had much luck.
Are there ANY brick and mortar stores in Mississauga/Oakville that have maternity clothing? I believe Thyme is now online, and I can't find anything else. Would consignment or used clothing stores have a wide section for bras?
Bra wise I used to be a 32/34 G. My rib cage has expanded a bit, and of course my boobs have exploded in size. Feeling really disheartened while shopping!

Durban, South Africa Security Officers arrest three knife-armed-subjects attempting to burgle businesses, hands over subjects to local police
Max Naicker, operations manager of Blue Security, said that while patrolling the Doonside area, their armed response officer spotted a suspicious vehicle parked in a pathway between shopping centres.
“The officer noticed a lot of movement from a distance and called for backup from Blue’s Community Crime Prevention Unit and other armed response officers while keeping a close eye on the vehicle.
Naicker said the suspects exited the vehicle and jumped over a gate into one of the businesses.
He said Blue Security’s tactical and armed response teams moved in and apprehended the three suspects.
Their vehicle was found to have false registration plates and was handed over to eManzimtoti SAPS (South African Police Service) for further investigation, while the three suspects were taken in on various charges related to vehicle fraud, possession of state property and investigation into previous housebreakings.
Naicker said that the incident was a testament to their commitment to pro-actively ensuring the safety of communities.
Note: To those who are not good at geography, South Africa 🇿🇦 is an actual nation-state, in which this even took place. Africa itself is not a whole country, it is a continent, but not a whole nation.

2023.05.29 04:41 Significant_Rains Ordered cancelled, called and they gave me a different number to call (LP, 855-512-6913)?

Weird situation overall. I had an in-store coupon for 20% off but couldn't use it online, so a chat rep helped me apply it online as a manual one-time courtesy. The order went through but got immediately cancelled (within seconds, so automated) and I had to call for details. The phone rep couldn't provide more details and gave me a LP number to call? But searching for that number online shows it's a law firm/debt collector that many consider a scam?
I'm guessing the manual discount probably triggered an automated flag/cancellation?
What are the chances of getting this order rescued and reinstated or is this a goner? I'm going to call that number, probably Tuesday due to Memorial Day, but the reviews for that number don't seem good...
And no, as far as I know I'm not banned from Dick's or any other store O_o
I don't think I've ever shopped at Dick's before, except for maybe once years and years ago, but I'm not sure if that was Dick's or REI or some other outdoorsy store

2023.05.29 04:41 Jim0thyyyy Hirap ng 3years nang nasa bahay.

Since pandemic nasa bahay na ako dito sa probinsya namin kasama parents ko. Tapos yung nalipatan ko pang work is purely work from home. Very thankful ako sa work na to kasi sobrang nakatipid ako at nakaipon ako. Lumalabas labas lang kame ng family (as in dine out ganun) pag may event like birthday or family reunion.
Haha

2023.05.29 04:40 vyktym Aussie, ideas of where to go from here?

It's fairly complicated, but I'll try to cut it short:
36 Years old, 0 qualifications, married, no children.
Assets: House in Ipswich, QLD ~$350,000
460 Acre Land ~$1,000,000
2022 Audi A3 ~$55,000 (My daily and our long trips car, great on fuel/safety/comfy)
2010 Nissan Skyline ~$15,000 (Her daily, bad on fuel, good fun)
Computer Shop ~$90,000
Assorted motorbikes ~$30,000
Debts:
House in Ipswich, QLD~$180,000
Audi A3 - 4.4 years to go at $228/week and $17k balloon at end ($53kish?)
Business & Income tax debt ~$75k
Credit card debt ~$10k
Income:
~$130k pre-tax per annum (Operations Manager for disability support company.)
~$26k from computer shop being sold to a friend ($500/wk until it's paid for).
Circumstances to note:- Wife currently earns $0, will get back to work soon and earning ~$60k (pregnancy loss, mental health etc.).
- MIL lives with us in small 3BR house in the suburbs, we need to find somewhere to live in 6-9 months else it'll end in a giant sh!tstorm between MIL and wife.
- MIL will rent Ipswich house at $320/week once wife and I move out. $360/wk if she gets a housemate. House currently costs ~$275/wk on variable interest rate, 25 years to go.
-----------------
Currently trying to sell the block of land, getting a fair bit of interest. Thinking the best option once it sells is to pay out Ipswich house, pay out tax and CC debt, pay out the Audi. The wife's expressed interest in wanting a decently nice house for us to live in on a good amount of land ~45mins west of Ipswich. I like the idea of this too, I'd be best pleased with being out there. Would make for a 45 min commute to/from work daily, but I'd say it's "worth".
Should leave me with ~$700k. Use this to buy 2 x more cheap houses ($350k each). have the rental income from all 3 ($320 + $400? + $400? = $1,120/wk) with 0 debt give the bank a good reason to give us an ~$800k house which will have itself paid for solely with the rental income from the other 3 houses, with cash to spare. With my decent income and hopefully hers, they'll throw cash at us.
I guess the big question is:Pay out the Ipswich house and buy 3 more houses, OR, pay out debts and put cash into other investments? I lost ~$150k 18 months ago in some terrible trades, so a bit hesitant to do that again....

2023.05.29 04:39 nohemi_trevino The Cage

That day, the room was bright. The blue square was opened. Mother opened the blue square once a week to give us something called vitamin D. It was always very bright, the square. Most times, there would be a white wispy substance infecting the blue.
Lily Pad and Billy Joe were standing in their own cages as we all waited for Mother to come back. Every time she opened the blue square, she would have to ascend these dark stairs. Where they would go was unknown. I called it the Above.
Mother's footsteps were heard after a while, and she came towards the cages with bags. I left forward to the bars, holding one with my left hand and holding out my right one in anticipation. She came by each cage and gave us our food. A piece of meat surrounded by two slices of bread. A popping drink in a flimsy cup. Sometimes, Mother would give us a hard cup, filled with the clear, cold drink. She said they all had names, but she had never taught them to us.
I bit down on the meal. It was filling. The drink was less poppy than usual, but that was alright. The cage was quiet, and Mother was too. Time passed until we all finished. Mother took my trash, and Lily Pad's and Billy Joe's. Back to the Above, and then back to us, and in between, I noticed the blue square close again.
Mother looked strange when she arrived. Her face made me worried. "Children, we need to leave. Come with me," she said. I heard loud noises from the Above, but Mother rushed me out and I had no choice. I could barely see, but I had to move.
Wherever she was taking us is unknown because the noises got closer. They took me and Lily Pad and Billy Joe. Mother's screams hurt my ears, but soon they had stopped. The noises were other people. I had never seen another person before, other than the ones I grew up with.
I was taken to many places. Billy Joe and Lily Pad never spoke, so neither did I. I didn't have much to say at that point anyway.
People called doctors looked at us, and people called officers asked us questions. I did not know how to answer, but I did what I could.
I was 23 years old. My name was George McCleary. Mother had always called me Georgie Porgie. I was stolen from my mother and father when I was just a baby by her. "But Mother is my mother," I told an officer.
"No, 'Mother' is the woman who kidnapped you and raised you to believe she really loved you," he said to me.
"What is loved?" I asked him.
"Something that woman never provided for you," he said.
I was taught how to read. I was taught that the popping drink was actually called soda or pop. I was taught that outside of the cage, I needed to have a job. I needed money. Money was confusing. I could have it in my hand or in a screen. Screens were confusing as well.
Time came in the form of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, years . . . but you could say morning, or noon, or afternoon, or night, or midnight, or all these other words. But after five months, I was given a life. I had a job as a "janitor" in a little place, a coffee shop. I had my own place to live, an apartment. I lived in the same building as Lily Pad and Billy Joe. Their new names were Lillian and Joseph. It did not seem right.
But I interacted. I talked more and more. I became, as my therapist said, social. And I loved being social. People, they were so . . . different. All of them, so unique and beautiful. What a privilege it was to be able to speak with them, even if it was just for a second, a sorry if I bumped into one, and thank you to whoever handed me my daily coffee. I loved each person I met.
After a year, I got a job at a grocery store. It was morning, around 8:00 AM. A woman came in, wearing a cotton t-shirt and shorts. I waited until she came to check out her items. As I scanned the contents of her overflowed cart, I said to her, "Your eyes are really pretty." They were, and I wasn't afraid to tell her. I always told people what I liked about them, so much that sometimes they asked if I was mocking them. But I wasn't, I just couldn't help myself.
She looked at me with those eyes and smiled. "Oh, thanks. You have nice cheekbones."
I held my hand to my face. "Cheekbones. The bones in my cheeks?" I asked.
"Yeah," she shrugged. "They give your face a nice shape." Her face became pink, so I looked away from her. But it was hard.
Before I could stop myself, I talked again. "So, what's up?"
She tilted her head and smiled again. The only word I could thing of was: cute. "The sky, I guess. No, um, I'm stocking up for a party tonight."
"A party?" I echoed. "For who?"
"Just a party. The type with alcohol, not cone-shaped hates and goodie bags,"
"Oh," I nodded. Next thing I knew, I was there at the party. People were there too, and I loved people. I also found a liking to this alcohol. I never thought to try it before. Some tasted disgusting, but I still tried them all.
I realized I liked these parties. I went to all the ones the woman threw. Her name was Jenna, and she lived alone. She had a big house just to party. I loved that about her, and at some point, I loved her. She let me date her, and she let me move in with her as well. She even let me marry her.
Another year went by. I made myself a life. I had friends. I had a job. I still had therapy, and sometimes I had dark dreams about the cage, but I had a wife. I was a newer person, and I could deal with these things.
One day, Jenna came home from work. I was making dinner for her, and she offered to help. She made the sauce for the spaghetti even though she doesn't like it.
Once it was all put together, we sat down to eat. We put the noodles on our plates, and I poured the red sauce on mine. She hadn't said too much, and I was a little concerned, but I didn't want to say anything. I wasn't too good at confronting.
Jenna just stayed silent until I took a bite of my food. Then she sighed. I looked up at her, and she looked relieved. "What?" I asked her after swallowing.
She smiled, but it was weird. It was off. "It's done."
"What's done?" I smiled before taking another bite.
"This," she said, then stood up. "All of this!" She gestured as if she was talking about the house. What was she talking about? "I've been doing this for so long, George. So long."
"Doing what?" I demanded. I was confused. She never acted like this. I didn't even understand what "this" was, but it wasn't her.
"Two years ago, my mom was put in jail. You wanna know why? Because she had a few people in her basement. George, she was my rock. I loved her l. She loved me. But she also loved the people in her basement. And she pushed me away. I hadn't seen her for a decade, but I did see her on television. In handcuffs."
"What?"
"George, my mother was your kidnapper. And you and those two other people ruined her." I put my fork down and stood up as well. "This is your fault."
"Jenna," I whispered. And nothing more. What could be said about that? My wife, the woman I married, was fake. A lie that I believed.
"You're gonna get a little sleepy. Then you'll pass out. Don't make this difficult."
She was right. She had drugged the sauce. She also took my phone, and I couldn't call 911. I spent my last free moments trying to escape the house, but the doors were locked from the outside, the windows glued shut. I tried to break the glass, but my energy seeped out from every step I took. I don't know when, but soon it all faded to darkness.
I woke up in darkness too.
In a cage.
It came back to me, the memories of the cage. Lily Pad and Billy Joe. Lillian and Joseph, I told myself.
I couldn't breathe. I couldn't think. I couldn't rationalize my thoughts, all I could think about was two years ago.
I stood up in the cage and held the bars for support. There had to be a light. There had to be someone to help.
Footsteps. I felt them in my mind, in my heart. I could never forget them. Jenna.
Mother's face was seen through the darkness. But no body. Just her decapitated head on ground. I backed away and gasped. "Did I mention I hate her?"
"I thought she was in jail!" I yelled. "Jenna, you killed your mother!"
"She was Mother to you, wasn't she?" Jenna said with a head tilt. "Mother. Do you remember all the days you spent in your cage, and the only faces you'd see were those two other people's and my mom's? Of course, you do. How could you forget?"
"Jenna, let me go! Please!" I started to sob. The betrayal, the head, the memories, it was all to much.
"You're lucky I'm not making you suffer. I made the other two suffer. But you, I'll finish you off nice and quick. You always were Mother's favorite. You deserve a death as horrible as her's." She pulled out a gun. "Goodbye, Georgie Porgie."

2023.05.29 04:38 drmeattornado Record stores focused on dance music

This is a shot in the dark I know, but I (45M) am finding it harder and harder to find record shops catering to house and techno music as a guy who has DJed since the late 1990s. I completely understand why but I go to places like Angelo's, Black and Read or even Twist and Shout (It's been years since I last have been there I admit) and clearly they are focused on rock, punk and metal. Most of these places don't even know what to do with electronic music. Sometimes it's sorted in the pop/rock section, sometimes in the "techno" section (liberal usage of that word) and it's kind of frustrating.
I was in the UK last summer for 2 weeks and I could toss a rock and hit the window of a record shop anywhere, with a much vaster selection of records, all genres, not a shop filled with $50 represses of the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack or whatever, but deep selections of thousands of artists and none of it pretentiously overpriced.
In the early 2000s, there were tons of shops here in town but one by one they've all closed. Much of my purchases are online now as a result. I know I'm a niche purchaser, but I know I'm not alone in this fairly large city.
TL;DR: where in Denver and/or the front range can I find a good selection of house and techno records these days?

2023.05.29 04:38 Flamefury Guide: Battle Network 3 Custom Style S+ / S++ Ranking

Hello fellow NetBattlers!
Are you CRAZY about chip farming!? Wanna get EVERY CODE you can? Or maybe you just want to get the * codes that are opened by CustomStyle.
For those not in the know, in BN3 only, Custom Style has access to two higher tiers of busting rank, S+ and S++. These reward exclusive chip codes different than the standard S rank reward, and in rare cases a new chip altogether (BigWave, Burning and Volcano, which are required for Standard library completion).
Using the information provided The Rockman EXE Zone wiki, I've compiled a full list of every single virus, their S+ and S++ reward in both White and Blue, and noted down my personal recommendations for where to find the target virus, what formation I found easiest to S++ rank and strategy notes for possible ways of doing it.
The first sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yHzn5v3LH4uRxm4r1Hy99NM_eeBvMdIV_zJuHfm9-18/edit#gid=1533509223
is a general overview for S+/S++ ranking conditions, which NaviCust Programs (NCP) I recommend, and an overview of how my brain thinks for S++ ranking strategies.
The second sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yHzn5v3LH4uRxm4r1Hy99NM_eeBvMdIV_zJuHfm9-18/edit#gid=0
Lists all the information I mentioned above.
If you have any suggestions and recommendations (either to make the guide easier to use or better strategies to hunt for certain chips), please don't hesitate to let me know. My brain was getting kind of fried toward the end of writing this out so I may have been lazier with some of the strategy ideas on some of the more problematic viruses.
Also it's really hard to deviate from VarSword, that thing is way too good.
But all that aside, hope you enjoy and find this useful.
