Welcome to another month! That means it's time for our monthly update on retiring sets. Not many changes this time around, but there were a lot of sets added to the database!
As always, we owe a massive thanks to
ZombieYeti from the BrickHound Discord for providing this valuable data. If you're looking for real-time in-stock/deal alerts for Lego.com and other sites, make sure to check out his server.
This information is scraped directly from Lego's website, and all dates are subject to change.
ZombieYeti is currently developing a website to host this data and offer real-time updates. In the meantime, here is a list of every set and their corresponding retirement date as per LEGO's system!
FULL LIST ON GOOGLE SHEETS HERE <-- If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Due to Reddit's character limits, we can't include everything here, but the full spreadsheet contains every set.

Additional Information: i wont lie and say i’m not disappointed. especially with the area i’m in, so many of my peers are getting into super exclusive colleges. but i’m also not gonna beat myself up because i know what i’ve been through in high school made it harder to get a perfect gpa and high test scores and crazy ECs.
i hope anyone who had similar results or stats to me understands that this process isnt a reflection on you! at the end of the day it matters what we do with the education and how we carve out our careers. neither of my parents went to great colleges but now theyre thriving in their careers 20-30 yrs later. your journey isnt always linear!
anyway i just wanted to post my results because i dont see a ton of representation for people with similar stats to me on this sub. i would also love to hear any opjnions on these schools especially for my major because i don’t know how i’m gonna make this decision in a month lmao. it’s really important to me that my school is well rounded (because i think i want to do a data sci or statistics minor!) and has good networking and campus opportunities so if u have any insight lmk

2023.04.01 05:15 Claymortality Anyone able to help other students and families facing renoviction in IV?
TLDR; If you can come show support Tuesday 9:00AM at 105 East Anapamu St, SB (board hearing room) it could potentially help a lot of current/future students and families from becoming homeless.
So I originally posted a couple weeks ago about CBC/Sweeps evicting like 240ish units, many of them 3-4 bedroom. These units are diverse--full of families, students, elderly, section 8/low income, multiple pets, etc. Many people have been here for 30+ years with multiple generations of family members. I took my original post down because it was cited in an article that didn't represent our community with respect.
Basically, landlords use the term "renovation" in order to get past California rent caps, as well as to evict lower income/section 8 tenants. Currently, they don't need to prove they're going to actually do anything or that it's even necessary. This then has a snowball effect on the rest of the IV/Goleta/SB area.
One person mentioned that this renoviction would likely be 5%+ of all IV rental units, and 30% of low income housing on the southern coast of SB county. This means that not only will housing be even more difficult for us students to find, it will also be so much more expensive. Many students will be evicted in the middle of spring quarter or finals week. But, worst of all, we are looking at 1000+ people that will no longer have homes, many of whom are disabled and have no where else to go. Also, keep in mind, this isn't the only place in IV this is/has been happening to.
The city of SB has recently passed an emergency ordinance on renovictions because this problem is so rampant. Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to IV as we're unincorporated, so we need a county wide ban.
This Tuesday (4th) starting at 9:00AM there will be a meeting for residents to give public comment to the county. I know a lot of us have class (I definitely do) but if anyone is willing or able to show up, give public comment, or even just coordinate a carpool it would be greatly appreciated. The more people we have to fill the hearing room the better.
The location is: County Administrative Building, Board Hearing Room, Fourth Floor, 105 East Anapamu St, Santa Barbara.
A lot of people in the four buildings will be graduating this spring and/or weren't planning on renewing their leases--so I feel it if maybe some people don't care. We're just trying to get as many on board as possible to help current/future students and families who may not otherwise know they have a choice. Okay, sorry for the essay. If anyone can help DM me or leave a comment please. Also sorry for any spelling/format errors--this isn't my forte.

- # of Honors/AP/IB/Dual Enrollment/etc.: 14
- Senior Year Course Load: AP Calc BC, AP Enviro Sci, AP Literature, Korean 4 Honors, Statistics, History/Econ
Standardized Testing List the highest scores earned and all scores that were reported. - SAT/ACT: 1530 SAT (Studied and took it on the last two attempts available in Senior year. Terrible idea but it worked out.)
- AP/IB: 5 on all exams except Physics cuz I slept through that exam(literally)
Extracurriculars/Activities: Co-Founder of a non-profit that I run with my late friend's dad. Fundraising 20k all by myself doing solo door-to-door fundraising campaigns. We've provided 4 scholarships this year with the total value of $6500. Financially support local mental health clubs and organizations. (Yes I realize this was very inefficient but the people I've met along the way made it worth the time and effort)
Founder and President of our school's first eSports organization. CIF Champions in our second year. Had multiple teams across multiple titles. Had a whole content creation team where we streamed our games with commentators, posting weekly videos alongside our social media manager.
Software Developer Intern at a pretty well known invoicing company. Built a receipt scanning and data implementing AI Algorithm. Worked with product management team to push out updates.
Data Consulting Internship at a startup where I worked with the management team and startup clients to deliever data engineering solutions and projects to stakeholders.
President of Computer Science Club. Did weekly meetings where I taught students of all grade levels simple python coding and even used Scratch for those who struggled. Eventually organized Hackathon with local community colleges and other high schools.
President of my choir team. I've been in it for 8 years by now and have done solo performances for 7 years in a row. (lost the streak due to covid). Performed with the likes of the Vienna Boys Choir during our Vienna trip. (This was what I was best at tbh, I actually had the talent to perform)
Social Media Account where I posted my own JDM content. Uploaded across three social media platforms and put it on a strict posting schedule to minimize wasted time. Around 2M+ views, 50k followers.
Founder and President of Video Games Club. Essentially a non-competitive alternative to the esports team as not everyone was able to participate in such high level matches. Nothing crazy.
Secretary of this volunteering organizaton. I didn't do much except help organize meetings and take notes.
Awards/Honors: President Volunteer Service Award Gold and that AP thingie (all in all zero awards lmfao)
Essays/LORs/Interviews: Some of them focused on my journey of computer science through high school. Like how I spent hundreds of hours during quarantine playing CSGO, but eventualy found out how to edit game files to add stupid things in there and just messed around (obv on a private server or else it ain't possible). And from there went to this Berkeley precollege program, then internship, then focused more on clubs and whatnot. The other half of my essays were about my best friend that I lost from the struggles of mental health. I always work late at night, 2, 3, sometimes even 4 am, but whenever I opened my common app essay about him I just started breaking down. It was hard but I got through it and I feel like I was able to convey my story that was straight from the heart. I only mentioned him for like 2 sentences so don't go crazy about that in the comments. I focused a lot on the nonprofit throughout the essay.

For not trying AT ALL during freshman and sophomore year, I consider this a success.

Acceptances: - UIUC [Electrical Engineering]
- UC Santa Cruz [Elec Eng with $50k total scholarship]
- UC Davis [Elec Eng]
- University of Toronto (2 stupid majors, still waiting on my computer engineering results)
- Carnegie Mellon [Electrical & Computer Engineering!!!!!]
- UC Berkeley [Engineering Math & Stats]
- Dartmouth College!!!! [whatever major I want LOL]
Rejections: - Cornell Engineering ED
- UC San Diego
- UC Santa Barbara
- UPenn
- Northwestern
- Duke
Waitlisted: - UCLA
- UC Irvine
- University of Michigan
Final Thoughts & Advice: Well, clearly, this whole application process is so random. I didn't get admitted into any UCs except Santa Cruz, Davis, and Berkeley, so who knows what's going on there. Getting WL at Irvine was also strange, but oh well. Ensure you apply to enough schools, but ensure your essays are in tip-top shape—they must be genuine!!
I'd like to mention that using Chat GPT for general research on schools is an underrated tactic. It genuinely helped me figure out the vibe and idea behind all of these schools and saved me countless hours of research. Definitely use it, but don't abuse it (Chat-GPT essays are GARBAGE).
There are a couple of things I wish I had done differently during this application season and in high school in general.
- GPA: Your GPA is vital to you getting through their initial filters, and if you look at almost any college's common data set, they value GPA to the max. On a 4.3 scale, my GPA was actually below average for many of these schools, and this was due to 2 Bs in Math and English. An engineering major having a B in math isn't exactly a good look, so it is imperative that you are acing the classes your major is directly related to.
- EC List: I believe your EC list is as important as your essays. Framing a good EC list is terrifying, to be honest, and in my ED/EA round, my ECs came out as pompous and over the top. Reframing everything for the RD applications helped me come across as more genuine and a real human. Don't fluff up your hours!!! Nobody can work 18 hours a day, and AOs will be extremely suspicious seeing so many hours but a disproportionate amount of impact.
- Essays: Be genuine. Don't try to act like you're writing a paper for your final English exam. This isn't going to be graded on a scale of 0-100 for formality and grammar, but the AOs will be grading your personality, who you are, and how you'll fit into their next class. If your essays aren't realistic, truthful, and clear on why you want to go to that school, you won't have much success.
As for where I'll commit, I have no clue yet. Check back in a month, and I'll have updated this post. Feel free to drop your thoughts; deciding between CMU, Berkeley, and Dartmouth is not something I am looking forward to.

Letters of Recommendation (
Briefly describe relationships with your recommenders and estimated rating.) - Counselor (9/10): One of the few students in my school to get the counselor LOR written by the principal. We had an interview/conservation where I talked a lot about my ECs and DE classes, and they had an access to a giant questionnaire where I put in details about ECs and my dreams and aspirations and stuff
- AP Statistics Teacher (9/10): Gave them a resume for info and requested certain things to be emphasized in the letter. They also were the teacher mentor for my 11th grade science fair project.
- Honors English Teacher (8/10): Gave them a resume for info and requested certain things to be emphasized in the letter.
- Research mentor (5-9/10): No clue tbh. We worked together frequently (2-4 times a week) but it was online via Zoom. It was also their first time writing a LOR for a high schooler.
Interviews - Stanford (7/10): First interview. I wasn't the most confident/prepared, but it went ok. We talked about ECs #1, 2, 5, and 10, the interviewer's experiences at Stanford and how they helped him in his career.
- Duke (9/10): Went much better than the Stanford one. My interviewer's major + career was related to ECs #2 and 3, so we mainly talked about that, in addition to a bit about #10. I also had a chance to ask about student organizations at Duke.
- Didn't get interviews for Cornell, Harvard, or Columbia💀
Essays - Common App essay (8/10): I wrote 2 versions (completely unrelated to each other). I worked on the first version for like 4 months, eventually decided it was bad, and started the second version 2.5 weeks before the November 1st REA/EA deadline 💀. It wasn't the best but I thought it was alright. Made it very personal/specific, unique topic, but not too quirky. Also connected it a tiny bit to EC #10. But yea I'm so glad I didn't stick with the first version LOL.
- Supplemental essays and UC PIQs (9.5/10): Put a ton of time into these, pretty decent (with the exception of the Stanford essays), focused on the specific experiences/offerings for why majoschool essays, started in early September.

2023.03.31 23:25 Squirrely916 I need to gamble money, who will win this National Shitty sport LAX 747 Race?
2023.03.31 23:08 lemonwaterlvr Please remind me that prestige is a myth.
I’m in between two masters of public admin programs- cal state San Bernardino and university of Redlands. I’m between the two because they’re both close to home so I don’t have to pay rent.
CSUSB is legit less than half the price of U of Redlands. With my scholarships, I could go to school for a reasonable price. I did undergrad at uc Santa Barbara so I’m kinda like it evens out if I go to csusb?
CSUSB has a horrid reputation but it’s accredited, the faculty seems awesome and their program seems comprehensive. I just don’t want their misguided bad rep to be detrimental to me. But i also don’t wanna be in major debt.
