Several auto manufacturers now have electric vehicles for sale to the general public, but market penetration for plugin vehicles is less than 1% of new vehicles sold. Pure electric vehicle sales are just 0.2%. More people will become aware and interested in electric vehicles when they see early adopters driving them. Having personalized plates will help increase consumer awareness.

Hello fellow Bonnaroovians. I am currently asking for anyone's help if they care to give it. My girlfriend was on her way home to get ready for Roo last Wednesday, when she was hit head on by a sleeping or distracted driver. She suffered a small cut to her spleen which has been fixed, a major break to her ankle, and tons of bruises and cuts on her body. She has succesfully had one surgery on her ankle, we are waiting for the swelling to go down before they can do the next one. She may be able to go home on Monday to wait and rest at home for a week or so. Shes in alot of pain still but shes staying positive, Radiating the poitivity if you will. She had 80% of our festival gear in her car, as we just went to Rockville a few weeks ago. Thankfully most of our gear made it but she lost some very sentimental items, which we know will be hard to replace. Below is a link to her gofundme, we aren't encouraging to donate but we encourage to simply share it or spread her story. If she wasn't wearing her seat belt, I wouldn't have her anymore. Please all of you, WEAR YOUR SEATBELT, not just to Roo next week but always. Please all of you, DO NOT DRIVE TIRED, AND IF YOU MUST BE ON YOUR PHONE, PULL OVER. We love all of you, we thank every single one of you beautiful souls, and we appreciate the positivity all of you bring into this world. đź’ś
P.S. she knows she won't make it now but tells me I should still go, as lot of my friends are going. Tells me she's alive and safe now. I just don't know what to do. If I do go, I will be doing a fundraiser for her( me and all my friends). We will be selling tye dye shirts or letting you make your own at our camp. Our totems will have pictures of her and her Car that's a crumpled up Dorito. Feel free to donate to us, the go fund me, or simply give us a hug for her. Thank you again.

2023.06.10 20:49 The-Gingineer Best Mainboard replacement for Ender 3 Pro running Klipper w/ bigger steppers?

It appears my stepper drivers are giving up on my V4.2.2 board. I installed steppers that support more current, and I upped the vRef to accommodate the change. The printer ran fine for about 2 weeks, but now my stepper drivers keep flickering off mid-print. I backed VRef back down to 1.3v and it stopped, but it's not taking full advantage of my 2A steppers, so I want to replace the mainboard. What mainboards do best with Klipper and higher current steppers? TIA.

2023.06.10 20:42 Constant-Kangaroo566 Texas Drivers License with 2 Year Conditional GC

Can anyone share their experience on getting a Texas DL with a 2 year conditional GC? Is the DL issued only until the expiry of the GC, since I think Texas only does Real IDs?
Can anyone share their experience trying to get it renewed after they filed the ROC? I read horror stories generally, I don't remember what states.
Asking because - I have an 8 year DL from a state I use to live in, in the Northeast. The plan was to say F it and continue keeping that DL until I have a 10 year GC or Citizenship, if its going to be a hassle with ROC.
Thank you in advance.

2023.06.10 20:40 Grand-Earth2594 is artificial intelligence good for society?

Introduction:
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been a buzzword in the tech world for a while now, and it’s no surprise why. AI has the potential to revolutionize a vast array of industries, from healthcare to finance, and everything in between. However, with all great power comes great responsibility. The rapid advancement of AI technology has brought about concerns around its impact on society. In this article, we’ll explore both the advantages and disadvantages of AI and ultimately answer the question: Is artificial intelligence good for society?
Advantages:
The potential benefits of AI are vast and far-reaching. One of the most significant advantages of AI technology is its ability to improve efficiency and productivity. For instance, in the healthcare industry, AI-powered machines can diagnose diseases more accurately and faster than human doctors, leading to better treatment outcomes. Additionally, AI is revolutionizing the manufacturing industry by improving automation in factories and warehouses, reducing the need for human labor, and improving product quality.
Another advantage of AI is its ability to make our lives easier and more convenient. Devices like Amazon's Alexa and Google Home use AI to understand and respond to voice commands, making it easier to accomplish tasks like playing music, setting reminders, or ordering groceries. AI-powered virtual assistants are also becoming more prevalent in the workplace, allowing employees to offload mundane tasks like scheduling meetings or answering emails, freeing up more time to focus on more critical tasks.
Disadvantages:
Despite the many potential advantages of AI, there are also valid concerns about the negative impact of the technology on society. One of the most significant concerns is the potential for job displacement. As AI systems become more advanced, they are starting to encroach on jobs traditionally done by humans. For example, self-driving cars may eliminate the need for taxi and truck drivers, and manufacturing robots may replace factory workers. This could lead to significant unemployment and economic hardship for those who lose their jobs.
Another disadvantage of AI is the potential for bias and discrimination. AI systems are only as unbiased as the data they are trained on. If the training data has inherent bias or discrimination, the AI system will replicate and even magnify that bias. This has already been seen in instances where facial recognition systems have shown bias against people of color, and AI-powered hiring tools have shown bias against women. If left unchecked, these biases could perpetuate and exacerbate societal inequalities.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, it is clear that the advantages and disadvantages of AI are complex and far-reaching. While the potential benefits of AI technology are vast, we must consider the potential negative impacts on society. It is up to us as a society to ensure that AI is developed and implemented in an ethical and responsible manner, with safeguards in place to prevent any negative consequences. With careful consideration and implementation, AI has the potential to revolutionize our world for the better.

Stripped this bolt, used a nut splitter and still won’t come off. More info in description
Was wondering if I was able to cut off the bolt itself? I don’t have many tools and don’t have money for new ones but I was wondering if I could just cut of the circled bolt and replace afterwards. If so what piece would I need? I have no idea what it actually is. It is literally right next to the top timing belt cover on the driver side 2000 Honda accord.

2023.06.10 20:35 Exifile How much can I sell my car for?

It's a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe 2WD 2.7L
It has a new transmission, all fluids have been kept up, ice cold AC, new front brake rotors and pads, as well as a recently replaced right CV axle.
The major things that are wrong with it: the exhaust manifold is cracked (it's an exhaust leak so sounds very puffy), the drivers side window is stuck up (rotor is broke), the gas meter is not functioning and thus, the check engine light is on (check engine light is also on due to the exhaust leak I believe. The gas meter not working is apparently a common problem with this specific year and model). The CV axles are going to be a bit worn on the car but overall it is my reliable daily driver.
Mileage is 167,000. I'd be asking at max, $3,300 and at least $2,500.
I haven't looked into the cost of getting the exhaust manifold fixed. No other major problems though. I live in Arizona so transmissions are required here to pass. This vehicle requires a transmission test next year, so the exhaust leak will need to be fixed before then.

2023.06.10 20:32 Grand-Earth2594 how artificial intelligence is changing our society?

Introduction: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been a hot topic in recent years. It is the development of computer systems that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision making, and language translation. AI is already changing the way we live, work, and interact with one another. In this article, we will explore how AI is changing our society and what the future may hold.
AI and the Workplace: One of the most significant impacts of AI is on the workforce. AI technologies are being developed to automate routine and repetitive tasks, and this has the potential to significantly reduce the need for human workers in certain industries. For example, in manufacturing, robots are increasingly used for assembly-line work, reducing the need for human workers. In customer service, chatbots are being developed to handle simple queries, freeing up customer service representatives to focus on more complex issues. While some jobs may be lost as a result of these developments, others will be created in areas such as monitoring and maintaining AI systems.
AI and Healthcare: AI is also changing the landscape of healthcare. It is being used to analyze vast amounts of medical data, enabling doctors and researchers to identify patterns that would be difficult, if not impossible, to identify manually. AI algorithms can help doctors diagnose diseases more accurately, predict the likelihood of a patient developing a particular condition, and even suggest personalized treatment plans. AI is also being used to develop new drugs, with remarkable success rates. However, there are concerns around the ethical implications of using AI in healthcare, particularly in the areas of privacy and data security.
AI and Society: AI has the potential to change the fabric of society itself. With the development of autonomous vehicles, for example, our cities could become safer, more efficient, and less polluted if human drivers were replaced by self-driving cars. AI-powered virtual assistants and home automation systems are also transforming the way we interact with our homes and workplaces. However, there are also concerns around the social implications of AI, such as the potential for bias in decision-making algorithms and the risk of these systems being used to perpetuate existing inequalities.
Conclusion: Artificial intelligence is a technology that is already impacting our society in significant ways. While there are certainly challenges and concerns around its use, the potential benefits are enormous, from improved healthcare to more efficient and sustainable cities. As AI technologies continue to develop, it will be important for us to consider the ethical implications and work to ensure that these technologies are used in ways that benefit society as a whole.

2023.06.10 20:31 thaleor483828 I accidentally hit someone’s car when they were poorly parked.

I’m a new driver. I was driving to an appointment and I was in this pretty crappy area. This guy was parked with his car out in the street also illegally parked in a no parking area and I tried avoiding it and accidentally side swiped his car. I kept going to find a parking spot and I don’t even remember what the car looks like. So I’m searching around and looking at every car in the area. My car got a few scratches and all the cars look fine.
Eventually I gave up and kept driving I don’t know what to do. I cleaned off the white from the side of my car and after my appointment I made a slow drive throughout the neighborhood again searching for the car. I couldn’t find it.
I want to get in contact with the owner and also not get a misdemeanor or suspended license. I feel pretty guilty. However, I have no clue what to do. I’m also embarrassed.

2023.06.10 20:23 81420161 I've been offered in an incredible residency to work exclusively on my art for the better part of a year, but it would mean ending a long-term relationship. I don't know what I want.

Hi, I’m in my early 30s. I’ve been offered a creative/arts residency in a city that’s decently far from where I live now (about a 6-hour drive). My gut is torn over whether to accept it or not. The terms of the residency would be: -they will provide a room rent-free in a house share with two other artists in my field doing the same residency. the house is equipped with a studio with equipment and software for what we do, plus a gym, kitchen and co-working space. -in exchange, they would ask that I quit any work I’m doing that’s not directly related to the creative field (i.e. take a leap and start making money only creatively) -I would be allowed to leave the city but they’d ask that I keep it to a minimum. I didn’t ask what the limit for leaving is but I asked if I could take trips home every 3-4 weeks for a potential planned medical thing and they said no I'm hesitant to accept because: 1) I’m in a long-term relationship (over two years). It’s my first every LTR and I feel like my BF and I are compatible in so many ways. My BF has said in no uncertain terms he will end the relationship if I accept the residency as he doesn’t want to do long-distance for this period of time. (It’s most of a year.) 2) If I were sure this would be a great career move, it would be a hard but easy decision for me to leave my BF. I love him, but I wouldn’t want to date someone who was standing in the way of my career over a temporary situation where we could still see each other sometimes. However, I’m not sure, and I’m worried about what will happen if I basically implode my life for this opportunity (quit a job I’m happy in, leave a relationship I’m mostly happy in, and lose my housing in the city I’m currently living in) and then the residency program turns out to be BAD. My biggest fears:
Reasons why I want to accept:
1) I'm from the city I live in now and have never really lived anywhere else for an extended period of time. This feels like a relatively risk-free way to try living in a new place, and frankly I'm getting tired of how competitive and expensive my city is. I feel like everyone is jumping over each other to get opportunities. I'm a little tired of live performance and have been interested for a while in putting more emphasis on creating digital stuff / social media. A program like this that's in a more remote place with less going on so I have room to sit alone and write would be perfect for this
2) They're offering a room where I could be alone and undisturbed which is out of my reach in my city. Rent has skyrocketed the past few years. I can afford my rent now but BF and I are sharing a one-room apartment, we both work remote most of the time, and it is AWFUL. Yes I could get a co-working space or there's solutions like putting up barriers but I really just want to be able to roll out of bed and journal for an hour without anyone saying anything to me. I'm introverted and my social battery is constantly being drained in this living situation. Rent has gotten so bad that even if I left my BF's apartment, I'd have to pay an extra $500 a month just to have my own room in an apartment share on the absolute lowest end if I found a deal, but it would probably be closer to $700 to 800 more a month. I really want space to breathe.

My thought process

Right now, I'm leaning towards turning down the residency for all of the above reasons, but my heart is torn over it. I feel like if I had gotten this just a little bit earlier while I was still adrift it would have been perfect, but I might be more interested in it for the person I was then and how little I had going on, and now, I have too much that I'd be giving up if I accept.
I just did the math and with my typical current expenses minus rent and utilities, I'd be losing about $12,000 over the period without an income (I'm guesstimating that food & drink will be cheaper but that I'd be spending way more on gas than I currently do on public transportation). That same amount would net me about 7.5 months of Airbnb rental in a rural area I love where I'm comfortable driving. I almost would rather just make my own little "mini residency" where I rent a place one month out of the year and continue to work, but scale it back slightly. My BF isn't thrilled about me going away for an entire month, but he'd accept it.

TL:DR: I got offered a residency that would pay my rent in a smaller town but with some restrictions including quitting my job so I could focus 100% on art - but they wouldn't pay my other expenses. Also, if I take this opportunity my long term BF would break up with me rather than do long-distance, and I will definitely lose momentum that I've built up in the highly competitive city where I live now and have to shift my focus – which I'm interested in doing, but also feels scary! I'd appreciate any insight on how to make this decision.
I'm considering an alternative step of turning down this residency and instead renting a cabin for one month. This would cost me about $1,600. If I take the residency I would have to spend about $12,000 out of my savings unless I magically start making $1,000+ a month creatively, which is unlikely based on what I know about my field. It would be taking a huge gamble on myself to accept and I'm not sure that I'm ready.

GAP question here. My boyfriend and I have gap insurance and full coverage insurance. I, stupidly enough, drove the car even tho my license is suspended and a deer ran out in front of me on the highway at night. Car has like 8000 in damages which insurance is denying the claim because I was an excluded driver, even tho the deer hitting was act of god situation or whatever. We spoke to a lawyer and he told us bc I was listed as an excluded driver I most likely wouldn’t win an appeal either. Will GAP help us even with insurance denying our claim?

2023.06.10 20:11 chiraltoad Linear actuator with 6' travel and 1mm precision

I'm considering DIY replicating this Tigerstop positioning device.
It seems to me that this is a relatively simple machine, and because I need it to be much lighter duty, I could make this a lot cheaper as well.
I'm thinking that using a leadscrew actuated by stepper motor might be the easiest way, though I believe the tigerstop uses a belt drive.
The leadscrew on the McMaster motor is much too short, so I was thinking I could add on to it, or replace it. But then I thought, just get a stepper motor and couple a long lead screw to it, I don't really need a pre-made one.
I'm rather fuzzy on the control method though. I understand I need a driver and a controller, the controller tells the driver what to do, and the driver makes it happen. How do I interface between my operator and the controller?
Ideally I am dumping spreadsheets with distance values in them, and the lead screw turns to the correct position after the press of a button, advancing to the next entry.
I have some notion of how to do this, but any tips or help getting me going in the right direction would be much appreciated.
And, I know this is an Arduino forum, but I'm not necessarily wedded to Arduino for this project.

2023.06.10 20:07 wannamelon- Advice for a new left side driver..? Not as easy as everyone told me it would be and feeling discouraged

I just moved to England from the US and drove for the first time on the left side of the road/sitting on the right side of the car. I consider myself to be a pretty good/safe driver in the US and thought I'd adapt easily but my first little 10 minute drive to the local grocery store wasn't exactly a confidence booster. I'm not forgetting to stay left or anything like that but I just seem to be having a hard time judging my distance and consequently hit the left curb twice in 10 minutes, once from hugging the left a little too tightly and once coming out of a roundabout. I was feeling so crummy I had my husband drive home. :(
Everyone (my husband included) makes the change look and sound so easy so I really thought I'd take to it right away and now I'm feeling super anxious about getting behind the wheel again. Don't even talk to me about parking LOL.
I can't tell if I'm hugging the left because I'm nervous about being too close to the middle and fear of hitting a car on the right side or if I'm not turning sharply enough because we have a 2005 pretty banged up rental car and the turning radius/smoothness is nothing like what my 2017 car was in the US.
This should've been a relatively easy drive and I will be facing much more narrow roads and multiple lane roads in the future than what I just drove. Also having a baby in two months and just feeling super anxious. I know I just need time and practice but any advice you all have for adapting more quickly/not being such a curb hitter?
Editing to add: I do have a driving info session that I'm attending next week and I believe will have to take a test to get my license which will be required of course before buying a personal vehicle and not just having a rental. I don't believe the lesson involves any behind the wheel type support more so just learning the rules and what not.

I have previously posted with issues about vibrations while accelerating at 65+ . This was only when accelerating. After some help here and around other forums, it was suggested to change the CV axles, which I just finished doing. While I was under there I decided to just replace the lower control arms on both sides as well. New bushings etc. which I am Actually happy that I did. When I took the control arms out they were almost completely busted. All torn and everything. Definitely needed to be replaced fore sure.
Well, after doing all of this and torquing everything, I decided to take it for a spin. Normal speeds all is well. Highway speeds 55+ slight vibration and then 70+ is almost scary vibration. Acceleration has no effect. So it looks like that issue was thankfully taken care of. But coasting now has all sorts of major vibrations at the speeds I listed above.
I read that bad CA bushing could mask other vibrations, which it seems it did. I’ll be replacing my ball joints tomorrow, and then off to the shop on Monday for an alignment.
Two questions I have. Loose ball Joints, could they cause vibrations? If not, could a car out of alignment cause vibrations?
Anyway, after the alignment I’ll be going for new tires as well. I hope this issue is fixed eventually

2023.06.10 20:00 gair_gare Replacement motherboard not booting

My power supply recently fried my motherboard and I just got the replacement out in and connect. It is the same mother board as the previous one that was fried ASRock B560m Steel Legend. I have checked that all the cables are plugged in properly but I haven't done a fresh install or done anything with the drivers. The pc can turn on but the display and usbs do not work
