Watching season 4 again and boy does that quote not age well at all. What exactly does a stripper look like? Why did they think her hair and nails looked like a stripper? Now, I do think her straight hair looked amazing and did feel like it was more of a “dcc” look. I felt so bad for her when Kelly said that about not looking like a stripper in the salon.

Student IDs

The League of Women Voters and local voter advocacy group Babe Vote filed a lawsuit against Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane (R) challenging a newly enacted voter suppression law. House Bill 124, signed into law by Gov. Brad Little (R) earlier this month, eliminates the use of a student ID as an acceptable form of identification for in-person voting.

[T]hrough HB 124, the legislature imposed more stringent voting ID requirements that make voting less accessible and more difficult for young voters and specifically for Idaho students whose school IDs are no longer sufficient for voting.
HB 124 removed the option for voters to use their student IDs. Now, voters can vote in person only if they can present an Idaho drivers’ license or ID card, a U.S. passport or other identification issued by a federal agency, a tribal photo ID, or a concealed carry permit.
Notably, each of the now-permissible forms of voter ID cost the ID holder money to obtain; upon information and belief, student IDs were the only form of free photo ID that could be used to vote at the polls. Now, voters have no cost-free ID.

March for Our Lives and Rosaura Barron, an Idaho student, have separately sued Secretary of State McGrane in federal court, seeking to have House Bill 124 invalidated. “House Bill 124’s prohibition on the use of student identification to vote is a major escalation of [the] effort to suppress growing political activism by young Idahoans,” the lawsuit argues. “It is a surgical attack on Idaho’s young voters in response to their successful organizing efforts and increasing political power.”

This violates the Twenty-Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which provides that voting rights “shall not be denied or abridged . . . by any State on account of age.” That broad language does more than simply lower the voting age to 18; it expressly prohibits election rules that discriminate against young voters on account of age. The Amendment was enacted at a time of increasing alienation of young Americans, whose exclusion from the political process was causing political unrest. As a result, the Amendment’s “goal was not merely to empower voting by our youths but was affirmatively to encourage their voting, through the elimination of unnecessary burdens and barriers, so that their vigor and idealism could be brought within rather than remain outside lawfully constituted institutions.” Worden v. Mercer Cnty. Bd. Of Elections, 61 N.J. 325, 345, 294 A.2d 233, 243 (1972).

One person, one vote

North Carolina House Republicans introduced legislation last week to end one person, one vote—potentially setting up a legal battle that could reach the conservative Supreme Court.
House Bill 376 would amend that state constitution to move away from the current scheme—mandated by the federal constitutional law—wherein each state senator represents an equal number of citizens. The new system proposed by the bill would have each senator represent two counties, no matter how many people live there. As a result, Wake county’s 1.15 million residents would have the same number of state senators as Tyrrell County, home to just 2,000 people.
State Rep. Jay Adams (R) sponsored the legislation, with seven other Republicans joining as co-sponsors. The bill is needed, Adams says, because densely-populated urban areas have more representatives than sparsely-populated rural areas, leading to what he calls an unfair advantage:

State Rep. Jay Adams says he wants to do something about the significant legislative advantage he sees that big counties and cities in North Carolina have over their less-populated neighbors… “Charlotte-Mecklenburg has an 18-member delegation [in the state House and Senate]. We have a 3-member delegation [in Catawba]. Mecklenburg and Wake counties have a huge advantage. I started to think about a better way of doing things.”
In an interview with North State Journal, Adams said the Senate districts would “mimic the federal Senate arrangement” where there are two senators for every state and then the representation in the House is by population. He later added, “Wyoming has a population of less than 600,000 but got two senators.” [...] “So the further I thought about this, is it not a legitimate thing to think that each county government, all the municipalities in that county, the school boards, and everything — shouldn’t they get equivalent representation in the Senate? Is that an unreasonable thought?”

While the bill would undoubtedly be challenged in court if it passes both chambers, conservatives could be hoping for a positive outcome given the rightward swing of both the North Carolina Supreme Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.

South Dakota

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem signed 12 election bills into law last week, including four that dramatically curtail voting and election procedures in the state:

Senate Bill 55: prohibits all political subdivisions of the state from adopting ranked choice voting
Senate Bill 113: Requires a petition to amend the state constitution be filed with the secretary of state at least a year before the general election.
Senate Bill 139: requires a person to have lived in the state for at least 30 days before registering to vote (in contrast, the state’s residency law only requires a person to spend one night in the state).
House Bill 1165: bans ballot drop boxes in all instances except a “secured and monitored receptacle or container at the office of the individual in charge of the election.”

Hello fellow degenerates. This story happened roughly a year and a half ago, so details are going to be limited. Not gonna do the general "this isn't as bad as ect, ect". So here we go.
Couple of friends and I wanted to get into DND, GM picked up some books and decided to run a quick one shot with Rogue and myself. One shot went well, got a good grasp on the mechanics and how to play. Few weeks later rope a few friends into doing a full on campaign.
Red flag #1, GM tells us to roll characters with point buy, okay fine. However, your only allowed to have 50 points to work with, being new, had no idea that was way low. Anyways, we now have 1st level Rogue, Barb 1, Barb 2, and Artificer (Me). Usual meeting in a tavern so on so forth, Go meet the mayor of the town for a party.
Red flag #2, first encounter is in mayors mansion, we have the party, go to sleep. Wake up to a horde of zombies, around 40, for a group of 4. We all die to realize it was a dream and now have permanent insanities. Okay, fine sure. Find out we have to hunt down an elf that stole a dark magic book from mayor. Cool, lets go. Go to docks, manage to get onto a vessel going to the country the elf fled to.
Red flag #3, go to sleep on boat, who would have thought, the exact same encounter as in the mayors house. Entirely way to many zombies for this small, extremely underpowered group to handle. More permanent insanity. Get to country, start moving to town we are told elf is in.
Red flag #4, Take a short rest at a camp on the way to town, have someone keeping watch all night. Didn't tell DM we wanted to auto notify party if they heard noise, no perception roll, straight into combat with 3/4 party members still asleep, prompting TPK that gets retconned.
Get to town, see BBEG in clear opening of forest, ask if I can try a rule of cool. GM says sure, what do you wanna do. I tie vials of poison onto one of Barb 1's javelins and cast catapult onto boss, Prompting ~45 damage on it. GM retconns this, angry we thought out of the box to use tree line as cover and surprise attack. Party almost gets TPK'd by BBEG in a fight with 10 zombies and I'm assuming now was a 5th level wizard (keep in mind, we were 2nd level).
I get tired of the over use of way to many zombies, constantly dying, but not really dying, and having insanity change how I wanted to roleplay my artificer in so many ways, I decide to leave. GM gets butt hurt after I leave and tell him why I'm leaving saying "you could have told me this while we were playing and I could have changed it". my reply to that is a hearty "oh we did. after every session we sat down for an hour and talked about how we could all improve and giving criticism to everyone to make it fun for all. you just happened to disappear or not be paying attention when we did". Moved on to continue struggling through campaigns, still trying to find one that fits me.
TLDR: GM uses same encounter multiple times, starts his party way under-powered, and doesn't listen to constructive criticism.

Below is the result after 3-4 hours of back and forth to make it more like Homer. I am not a writer. I just gave the AI general guidance about story structure and fixed some continuity errors with in. I could keep fleshing it out, but this is good enough:

The wolf was known far and wide for his fearsome reputation. He had roamed the land for many years, leaving behind a trail of destruction and terror in his wake. His appetite was insatiable, and he had devoured countless animals, both big and small. His adventures had taken him to the ends of the earth, and he had faced many challenges and triumphed over them all.
Despite his cruel nature, the gods couldn't help but admire the wolf's cunning and strength. They saw in him a reflection of their own power, and so they bestowed upon him many gifts, such as the breath of the winds, and the power to speak with animals. But the wolf's thirst for power and dominance was never satisfied, and he continued to wreak havoc wherever he went. It was said that even the gods themselves feared the wolf, and they warned the mortals to stay out of his way.
One day, the wolf came across a lazy and impious pig who had built his house out of straw, simply because it was easy. The pig spent his days sleeping and eating, and paid no heed to the gods. "Hello, wolf," said the pig with a grin. "What brings you to my humble abode?"
The wolf's eyes glinted with malice as he faced the pig. "I've come to blow your house down and feast upon your succulent flesh!" he snarled, before taking a deep breath and blowing the house down with a mighty gust. The pig, who was lazy and easily tired, tried to run but couldn't keep up with the wolf's pace. Soon enough, the wolf caught up to the trembling pig. "Please, wolf, have mercy!" begged the pig, but the wolf only grinned with malice and bared his sharp teeth. With a swift motion, he lunged forward and sank his teeth into the pig's flesh, devouring him whole.
Next, the wolf came upon a more industrious pig who had built his house out of sticks. This pig was also impious, however, and did not offer tribute to the gods. "Hey there, wolf," said the pig with a frown. "What brings you to my humble abode?"
The wolf's grin spread wide and cruel, his yellow eyes gleaming with malice. "I've come to huff and puff and blow your house down, so I can devour you whole!" he growled, before taking a ferocious breath and blowing mightily upon the house, which did not fall. Frustrated, he called upon Hephaestus, the god of fire and metallurgy, to burn the house down.
Hephaestus appeared before the wolf in a blaze of fire, his hammer in hand. "What do you want, wolf?" he asked with a voice like thunder.
"I want that pig inside!" snarled the wolf.
Hephaestus raised an eyebrow. "And what do I get in return?"
The wolf grinned wickedly. "You can have the house."
Hephaestus nodded in agreement and struck the house with his hammer. The wood caught fire and the pig fled, but the wolf chased him through the forest, with the sound of his wicked laughter echoing through the trees. The pig, however, was not an easy target. His life of labor had made him fit and agile, and he knew the forest well. He dodged and weaved between the trees, and the wolf struggled to keep up. As a reward for his piety, Hestia had given the pig a special cooking pot, which was said to have magical properties. The pig had used this pot to create many delicious meals, which he shared generously with his friends and family. The pot was also said to have protective qualities, and the pig believed that as long as he used it to cook his meals, he would be safe from harm.
When the wolf arrived at the pig's brick house, he could see the offering bowl on the windowsill, and the faint glow of the candle within. Poseidon listened to his sister's words and pondered for a moment. "You speak wisely, dear sister," he replied. "I shall honor those who honor you, and spare the pig's house."
The wolf's hunger had driven him to the brink of insanity, and now he saw the gods themselves conspiring against him. Alas, they never arrived, and so the pig dined alone. As he ate, he noticed an unusual flavor that he couldn't quite place. "This is delicious," he said to himself. "But it tastes familiar, almost like..."
And then it hit him. The flavor reminded him of his dear departed brothers, and it made him wonder if perhaps they had found a way to contribute to his triumph after all.
And so, dear children, let us not forget the importance of hard work and piety, even in times of great peril, and let us cherish the memories of those who have gone before us, and honor their legacy in all that we do.
