My main sources of income are doing one cayo run a day, leaving myself AFK overnight so I can do a nightclub sell every day, and collecting money from my nightclub safe. Is the acid lab worth investing in to add to my routine? Is it very passive friendly? I'm not sure how it works as I haven't played any of the new stuff that the first dose update added, but can I just buy supplies for it, leave it over night, and do a sell mission the next day along with my nightclub, or does it require more work? I like the nightclub because I can let it accrue goods while I'm at work, and I just have to do a quick sell mission when I get home. Is the acid lab that easy too?

Don't downvote for me "stupidity" here but I have been following this sub for awhile and see you guys and gals post some amazing finds...But I am curious how come there is never any other parts of the arrowheads or axe etc found. I know it was wood. But does it all just disintegrate over time? Erode away from moisture? I think it would be amazing to see what they made their arrows out of and how they fastened them. I see different size arrowheads and always wonder about them. Any input would be cool :)

As you're probably aware, many subreddits will be shutting down on June 12th through the 14th in protest of recent API changes announced by Reddit. These will charge relatively high rates above a certain threshold, similar to Twitter, and would have the effect of killing major third party Reddit apps. Reddit is not obligated to run features at cost, of course. And if the API is a financial burden, then it seems appropriate to have larger users share the burden. But charging rates that would be likely be several times in excess of what the average user brings Reddit in ad revenue, while forbidding third party apps from running ads of their own, makes it clear that they do not want to share the financial load. They want to kill competition to their official app. People who use third party mobile apps trust their app of choice over the official one for better user experience, mod tools, or accessibility features, and the official one demands much more of your personal data. The official reddit app does not play nice with screen readers on iOS, so those who are visually impaired have to rely on third party reddit apps instead. Even if you don't use a third party app, there's a good chance that a poster or commenter you liked does. One of the third party apps, Apollo, even got a name drop and other shoutouts by Apple in their latest Worldwide Developer Conference keynote, To lose these apps would be a loss to the community.

Reddit's "PR" Campaign

In the process to rolling this out, Reddit has not enkindled much, if any, goodwill, I'd argue. They've gone to blame the developer of iOS third party app Apollo of "excessive" API overuse despite staying within currently sanctioned limits. They have accused the same app developer of "threatening" reddit:

Steve (Steve Huffman, i.e. spez, Reddit CEO) : "Apollo threatened us, said they’ll “make it easy” if Reddit gave them $10 million."
Steve: "This guy behind the scenes is coercing us. He's threatening us."

Even after Reddit admitted on a recorded phone call that said perception was a misunderstanding:

Christian Selig (i.e. iamthatis, Apollo app developer): "I said 'If you want Apollo to go quiet'. Like in terms of- I would say it's quite loud in terms of its API usage."
Reddit: "Oh. Go quiet as in that. Okay, got it. Got it. Sorry."
Reddit: "That's a complete misinterpretation on my end. I apologize. I apologize immediately."

And then accused the same developer of gaslighting the community... with no evidence presented:

Steve: His “joke” is the least of our issues. His behavior and communications with us has been all over the place—saying one thing to us while saying something completely different externally; recording and leaking a private phone call—to the point where I don’t know how we could do business with him.
Christian: Please feel free to give examples where I said something differently in public versus what I said to you. I give you full permission.

It would have honestly felt better if they were just announcing that they were killing third party app access outright. But instead, we've been presented with a pricing structure that looks like it was meant specifically to kill third party apps, them acting like that isn't, and accusing third party app devs of being incompetent instead of asking themselves why others would want to use apps that aren't theirs in the first place. spez's latest AMA yesterday is only more salt in the wound, offering only token concessions so that a few accessibility-focused third party apps can continue unharmed, while other third party apps have announced their shutdowns because of these changes:

Relay for Reddit (Android app): The pricing is prohibitively expensive and it cannot be ad supported. And, even if you paid a subscription fee of several dollars a month to continue to use Relay, you still wouldn't have access to any NSFW content in it. My opinion is that they want third party apps gone despite saying otherwise.

The Bigger Picture

And these changes are not being done in a vacuum. Reddit has made other changes to take features away from this site and what people have built on top of it. Namely:

• Removing the low data frontend i.reddit.com
  
• Killing the third party comment searcher PushShift (though Pushshift has now entered a "Memorandum of Understanding" with Reddit to soon restore access, but only for mods)
  

Spez said in the latest AMA that old.reddit, the original desktop website for reddit, isn't going away. Then again, Spez also said years ago that "The API isn't going anywhere", and while it isn't going away, it is going towards places that will be worse for us all. That, combined with a list of broken promises, as compiled by the mods of /AskHistorians, makes Reddit's word as solid as Drop Bear Repellent is effective, in my eyes (though Reddit has been making improvements, in fairness).

Should we do something in response to this?

Now, that brings things to this sub.
/evnova is a very niche subreddit. While new reddit is happy to claim we are within the top 20% of subreddits in size, we are ultimately about a 20+ year old series of abandonware single player games. Modders and wiki editors like SharkyNebula and developers like Peter Cartwright with Cosmic Frontier: Override keep this series alive, but things are generally quiet for the most part.
Over 4,000 subreddits have announced some form of shutdown in protest of Reddit's API changes. Most people on this website probably don't know this subreddit even exists, but together with several default subs, I am open to joining as a means to show that we are willing to sacrifice our place here in the hopes that the collective pressure with other subs will compel reddit to revise or rescind these changes, so that major third party apps may continue to exist and that their users - members of all the communities around us - may continue to enjoy them. As a site dependent on user content and volunteer moderation, Reddit is nothing without its userbase, and with a show of protest and maybe some bad press, perhaps Reddit will change their mind. If it doesn't work, then, well, it'll beat doing nothing and having it happen anyways, and I guess that'll shows how much reddit values you, the user. And with comments from the CEO like:

We’ll continue to be profit-driven until profits arrive. Unlike some of the 3P apps, we are not profitable.

If this goes through unabated, what feature will reddit put on the chopping block next?
Now, with all this wall of text said, I have said many times that I am an absentee mod here. I do not believe that I have the authority to unilaterally shut down the subreddit. So I come here to ask you, the memberbase: Should we join the subreddit blackout, be it for 48 hours or indefinitely until Reddit backtracks on their changes and allows major 3rd party apps to continue?

Hey all! I’m looking for a recommendation for a backpack to take to work. It needs to be large enough to hold my lunch box (yeti daytrip box for size reference,) a backup set of scrubs, jeans and a shirt in case I go out with coworkers after work, t shirt and shorts to hit the gym at work, plus miscellaneous items such as toothpaste and deodorant in case I get held overnight. Got grades back a few weeks ago and still struggling to come to terms with the outcome. I just finished up 1L at a small (not top) school and my GPA dropped from a 3.0 to 2.79 in my second semester. I’m trying not to point blame at anyone but myself but Im struggling because I studied harder than I ever have before. I had one C and one C+ that did me in. One of my professors was a guest professor (the one who gave me the C), who truly did not teach us much and used another professors exam (which was half material our textbook didn’t even cover) and the other had a final exam, which according to the proctor was “literally harder than the bar will be.” I’m not so much upset about getting my first 2 C’s, but my goal has always been to work at a big/mid-size firm (sadly I am a very money driven person) and I’m upset that my grades are depicting my future this early on in my career. I know that I’m a good student (my grades improved in the other classes I was in so I know I’m not dumb), so I know my grades can improve this next semester. I guess I’m just looking for advice on how to approach jobs for 2L summer with a not so great GPA from an average school.

Hi reddit, thanks for taking the time to read this post. My BF and I have been together for about 6 months. It is his first relationship, but I have had a few relationships in the past and lived together with a previous ex for 2 years. I know it's fast, but we have spent every single day together in the past few months and I knew a few months after meeting him that he was the guy I was going to marry someday, I have never felt this way with any ex. When both of our leases were ending, the topic of moving in together naturally came up. It would have been me and him in one room, and our mutual friend in the other. We all started looking for places together, we scheduled tours, we bought paintings to put on the wall, etc. Every time I asked him to talk to his family about it, he said he would wait until he was back home to have the conversation in person. He talked to a few friends about it and they basically said the usual, it's early, take some time to think about it and gave him the pros and cons of when they moved in with their partners.
Everytime he and I talked about it, he was sure this was what he wanted to do. I asked so many times and he always said he was ready. Last week, he left for break. He was gone for 24 hours and everything changed. He talked to his sister about it (who has never lived with a partner) and suddenly changed his mind. He called me saying it might be too soon, and that he wants to eventually work towards moving in together in the future but not now.
I'm crushed. It's not even about moving in together, it's about how quickly he changed his mind and that he 'didnt realize ' he wasn't ready despite being so sure for months. It's that it all flipped in a DAY. It's that we made so many plans together for them to come crashing down, that he went from being so sure of moving in together to being so sure he wasn't ready. My sense of trust in this man is destroyed. How am I supposed to believe anything he tells me he feels now, when he's so sure but his mind can change so quickly or he can realize how he felt wasn't real overnight? He knows I have a daughter from a previous relationship, and he has told me over and over that he's completely fine with this and loves kids. But how am I supposed to believe that after he talks to his family about her that his mind won't change again? That he might not have 'realized' he wasn't ready and every sense of security I had can vanish again? He is so close with his family, and it's been a huge point of contention between us. His mom doesn't even know me and when he told her he was dating someone, instantly didnt like me, would make so many snide comments to him about me, knowing NOTHING about me. He is so overprotected by them and so vulnerable to anything they tell him.
When I asked him what changed, he said that he was worried because our relationship has been going so well and he's worried that introducing new variables is going to ruin everything. What new variables? We've been unofficially living together for months already. We've gotten into stupid fights and still ended the night in the same bed and worked through them the next day. If he had just talked to me about the concerns he was having instead of making it seem like he was decided it wasn't going to work, maybe things would be different.
I don't know what to do. My trust is gone and this feels like a deal breaker, like I can't ever look at him the same way again.

My wife and I have had a regular CPA doing our taxes for the past couple of years. He charges a flat fee and does an OK job with our taxes. We recently heard about an "Incomplete Non-Grantor Trust" which many people in our state utilize to minimize state taxes given we live in a high tax state. After digging a little more, I realized that this vehicle could have potentially benefitted our financial situation in the past couple of years.
Call me naïve but we hired our CPA in the hopes that he gives us advice on how to reduce our taxes in addition to also preparing them but we're beginning to realize that the role of our CPA is to "prepare" our taxes but not necessarily do a deep dive analysis into our financial situation to see where we could save on taxes. Are there financial professionals that specifically provide this kind of service? If there is, where should I be looking for this kind of professional? What is generally their title?

My dad's back in the hospital. His health has been really bad for a long time but things are getting even worse.
I've been the one talking with doctors handling his affairs and everything. My mom won't help me she's got too much anxiety and can't handle it.

i have a magenta mystery who was separated as a pea size baby and given to my friend. she brought the snail back to me and she managed to lay THREE clutches, all of which are fertilized and hatching. how could that be if the snail was never with another one before ? she was pea size if not smaller when i gave her away so it doesn't make sense that she bred at that size.

My friends say that I'm a really soft person, vulnerable but very playful. For some reason, even when strangers approach me, they randomly ask me for hugs, I don't know what's so huggable about me. I like to squeeze tight and hug hard because that's the best expression of love. My eyes are shiny not because they're well polished pearls, but rather ready to shed tears at any moment, both of happiness and sadness. I'm a plush but life-sized teddy bear.
I'm looking for someone to live an independent life with. Yes, I want to do things together, but I also wants us to do things on our own. I don't want us to worship each other and become enslaved to the point where he have to sacrifice our platonic friends and hobbies that we cherish. Ideally, I want someone who's completely different than me because having my twin would be so boring. I really don't think that arbitrary differences in tastes and preferences are a problem at all.
Personally, I consider myself a multipotentialite and aspiring polymath and creative. The world has too many colours so I'm not going to limit myself to one pursuit. I have many aspirations and as a result, many interests and hobbies. When people ask me what I do for a living, I have no idea where to start. If I'm really pressed for an answer, I'll just throw the word analyst or volunteer to keep people quiet, but that's not my whole story.
Although I tend to be quite a productive person, I still yearn for quietness and comfort, and more importantly, humility of lifestyle. My dreams are big in terms of ambitions rather than the material. Experiences are so much more lasting as memories rather than a shiny new thing. That doesn't mean that I rob myself of our world's inventions, I'm not ascetic.
When it comes to beliefs, I'm quite spiritual but still naturalistic. Perhaps there is a world of the unseen but it can expressed in terms of the scientific knowledge we have. I don't know how to use tarot cards or interpret horoscopes, but I can read someone's aura and get a pretty good idea on someone's very unique and personal traits and even perhaps what kind of life they lived. I'm also decent at interpreting dreams.
My brain is a bit broken and I'm neurodivergent diagnosed as bipolar schizoaffective with borderline personality. I'm on my way to remission and under control for the most part. I still have bad moments but I leave to only myself to cope with, I don't want to make you my project. It's something I'm very open about despite potential consequences. I'm not being selective, but the people I tend to vibe with typically are neurodivergent.
You may have noticed that I left the specifics of my life and interests out of this personal. This is on purpose because I want the learning adventure to start from the beginning. Why ruin the surprise? I'll have to warn that I'm quite quirky and somewhat odd, and awkwardness will never leave me. My social skills are artificial and sometimes I don't get it just quite right. But that's okay, it's part of who I am.
