Ya know how "u/ that guy" is always going on and on about book reports? Well I don't think it is such a bad idea for me. I tend to have difficulty thinking up topics or parsing the cases as well as others here, but I do have a collection of Zen Master Books I have been reading. Many of them I have only read the teachings of but have yet to really dig into the historical bits. And my collection is due to grow soon, up to about around 15 before I have exhausted Ebay.
I have kept it simple, an attempt to read the lineage in order. I do not yet have the Blue Cliff Records, Book of Serenity, The Treasury Eye of the True teaching, or The Gateless Gate, which are covered heavily in here. I have them waiting for me to buy from my open Ebay tabs. I do have Lankavatara, Bodhdharma, Huang-Po's Transmission of mind, Linji, Yuan Wu's letters, Dahui's Swampland Flowers, And Bankei just got to me last week, although I have not had much time with him. (pg 74 of 164)
Next up to have, will be Foyan's Instant Zen and Joshu.
The thing about book reporting is one can just keep reporting on the same books like a cycle. The hope of this project is familiarity with who said what and how did the others reference them. And from there I do not have any understanding of how the 15th "Bankei book report" or even "Joshu book report, 1" will look like. Only that you won't be seeing an unbroken stream of bankei, bankei, bankei, Joshu, joshu, but something random, like me. **cute smile**
I am assuming that it will be more focused on digging in the teachings after the initial intro post.
Book: Bankei Zen, translations from the record of Bankei, by Peter Haskel.
Lauded as "standard source book for the Western Student of Zen"
Bankei was born in 1622 in Hamada, Japan. His father was Confucian and Bankei was devoted to his mother. One driving factor in his seeking the name sake of his teaching "the unborn mind" was so that he could gift his mother with liberation.
Another was curiosity about a statement he learned while memorizing a Confucian classic called "The Great Learning". Though a little bit of a unruly youngster, his mind sparked up to find out about this statement "The Way of the great Learning lies in illuminating the Bright Virtue." This key concept of the classic was interpreted to mean some kind of dynamic intuitive moral sense that makes up our intrinsic human nature. And Bankei could not find answers from his teachers about what the really meant.
We have heard that he was the luggie guy, that he was the do nothing zen guy, but do we know that his drive to discover "Bright Virtue" even caused him to try suicide?
There are are so many ways I feel relation with Bankei. Perhaps it is because he was so close to the modern times. Maybe because the recorded sayings show us a real human being who spoke with everyday people. He even had some griping to do about the Chinese Zen.
"When I was young and trying to uncover the Buddha mind, I made serious effort at taking part in mondo (using Chinese expressions, I am guessing those like "the Cypress in the garden") But later on, having come to a real understanding of things, I gave it up. Japanese are poor at Chinese, so in dialogues using Chinese terms, they can't question teachers about things as thoroughly as they might wish. When you put your questions in ordinary Japanese, there's no matter you can't ask about. So instead of taking a roundabout way and knocking yourselves out trying to pose your questions in difficult Chinese words, you are better off putting them in easy Japanese without exhausting yourselves. IF there is some situation in which the Dharma won't be completely realized unless you ask your questions using Chinese words, then it's alright to use them." And he really went on further belaboring his point. And I am not sure I agree about putting my questions in Japanese would make things easier. But Modern English; let's go for it.

Bankei does that. His approach to zen was unique and very popular to the public. "Most came to listen, to learn about his unusual teaching, but others arrived with special problems, hoping to solicit his advice. Whether it was a monk with trouble meditating, a layman afraid of thunder, a farmer with a bad temper, or a local family feud, Bankei's approach was essentially the same. What ever the problem, for him there was really only one solution; to deal with things on a wholly new basis- to let go, to be neutral, to have faith in one's real original mind. He called this his teaching of the Unborn Buddha Mind." (from the introduction) He was quite a story teller too, enthusiastic to tell the tales of those who's lives improved when they realized the unborn mind.
I must admit it is hard to pick out any particular teaching or quote to present specifically at this time. The book reads like a story not like other zen books. Another reason I like him, one can't cut his words out because the teaching is in the story.
It was wide spread that people thought that he could read minds but he told it himself that is not what he does. He deals with the individual in front of him. Showing them that clear mind they have before they attach to mental conditions. This book of recorded talks and interviews shows a guy who collected fingers, and people couldn't wait to throw them at him.
But I hear, as rudimentary as my education thus far is, that he left no successor. I have read where he said that he didn't let his students teach anything beyond the simple statement of the unborn mind is already present with you, he didn't let them deal with the person right in front of them unless he knew they knew that mind.
Begs the question of whether there where more successors than we know of.

Don’t get me wrong; I want to reduce CO2 emissions. And quickly. But I also prefer to do it economically and by incentivizing people to make smart decisions by making the green decision the cheaper, better decision. I absolutely do not believe in forcing sub-par and more expensive products on a populace in the name of reducing a tiny overall percentage of worldwide emissions at the cost of hundreds of billions of dollars.
Count me out.
Yet that’s exactly what we are doing with electric vehicles.
My ex-wife and I went to buy a car in November of 2021. Remember this was at the height of when vehicles were scarce and prices were high. My lease ran out a month later, so we did not have much time. We went skiing frequently, so we wanted an SUV. Our trips were long (4-6 hours) and we had well over a thousand pounds of cargo between all our skis, luggage, supplies, passengers, and (cute) dog.
Quite simply, I checked and there was no EV on the market that was even capable of handling our payload capacity at the time. So before it even got off the ground, the idea of getting an EV was off the table.
And that was before everything else that disqualified them. Our new condo we had just bought had outdoor parking spots with no electrical source anywhere near them, nor any public or private chargers. So, installing a charger would have required digging up the parking lot and running heavy wiring all the way to our meter on the other side of the building. The mere thought made my wallet significantly lighter. And then, there was the potential cost of an EV. The only EV that came anywhere close to offering what we needed was a Tesla Model X, which started north of six figures. Once again, this was out of the question.
So we went to the Ford dealership, found a Ford Explorer we liked for about half that, which could handle a lot more cargo, has a much longer range, and required no charging infrastructure. It was one of the easiest decisions we’d ever made.
At no point did buying an EV made economical or practical sense. Since then, a few more EVs have entered the market, and I frequently reconsider my purchase decision. The calculus still has not changed. I don’t see it changing any time soon.
Yet federal and state governments seem hell-bent on, pardon me, shoving electric vehicles down our collective throats over the next decade or so.
Now, the average American only travels a short distance every day. So for many of them, EVs work in theory. But that discounts so many people who travel long distances, regularly go on road trips like we did, live in rural areas, or need to tow or haul heavier things. This is a rather large percentage of the population, even if only on occasion.
While the EV is a more advanced product in many ways compared to an ICE vehicle, it is not all-encompassing as many would like us to believe. It also fails against ICE in many categories. Additionally, until physics is reinvented, it will continue to fail for the foreseeable future. It’s unrealistic to think that every car and truck in America can be made electric. It simply won’t work. Not to mention the fact that they are more expensive! The parts and raw materials are more complex. And, as demand goes up, the cost of the raw materials will increase as well. The price of many EVs has, in fact, been increasing, not decreasing. This is the opposite of what would be needed to get mass adoption.
Suffice it to say, for these reasons alone, EVs have a long way to go before mass adoption.
And then there are the other issues, including a long litany of problems.
First of all, where are we going to get the power to charge all of these cars? It’s well-known that our power generation system and grid is already in terrible shape. Just look at how much difficulty we’re having at keeping houses powered in Texas and California. Now, you’re saying you want to dump all this added demand onto an already-stressed system?
A study showed that preparing California’s distribution assets and power grid for EVs and electric heaters would cost about $50 billion by 2035. Now, guess who’s going to pay for that? The people of California, via higher electric bills, will. That doesn’t sound pleasant or desirable.
And that’s just one state…out of 50.
We are nowhere near ready if 2035 is the goal. And neither are the cars.
Then comes this brilliant WSJ article. Remember how Toyota led the environmental car charge with hybrids? Well, it turns out they don’t buy into the electric car goals, and they’re getting slammed for it.
Except, well, Toyota has a point. Let’s examine it.
A Toyota memo to auto dealers in April explained the challenges to full electrification. For instance, “most public chargers can take anywhere from 8-30 hours to charge. To meet the federal [zero-emissions vehicle] sales targets, 1.2M public chargers are needed by 2030. That amounts to approximately 400 new chargers per day.” The U.S. isn’t close to meeting that goal.
That’s a really good point. If you’ve noticed, the Federal government loves mandating things without any basis in the reality of how anyone is actually supposed to meet said goal. This is a perfect example. And Toyota is calling out BS for being complete BS. The US absolutely cannot meet its federally mandated goals it has pushed upon automakers, at their expense, for electric vehicles. Building 400 chargers a day? Who is paying for that? How are you going to obtain permits for them that fast in this modern environment? According to EVAdoption, we added 4,200 chargers in all of 2022. That’s 11 per day…not 400.
Houston, we have a problem.
Unless we all want to sit for eight hours waiting for a charger, this alone makes mass adoption of EVs completely unrealistic. Just DOA.
And then, there’s the raw materials that make up EV batteries. It’s an extremely inefficient use of materials currently to make one EV, and the environmental disasters that are these mines is a topic EV lovers love to ignore.
Well, Toyota has a few things to say about that too:
Toyota also noted that “more than 300 new lithium, cobalt, nickel and graphite mines are needed to meet the expected battery demand by 2035,” and they could take decades to develop. “The amount of raw materials in one long-range battery electric vehicle could instead be used to make 6 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles or 90 hybrid electric vehicles.”
And here’s the real kicker: modern plug-in and regular hybrid electric vehicles are so efficient compared to EVs that they have nearly the same reduction in CO2 emissions. Furthermore, they are significantly cheaper and a dramatically better and less wasteful use of finite raw materials.
So, let’s just all agree that Toyota has a point.
On the greater scale, mass EV adoption has a lot of problems yet to be solved. Government so frequently likes to think it can wave a magic wand through legislation and change the world via fiat. Unfortunately, that’s not how the world works.
I would love to see mass EV adoption but I want to see it by making EVs the better choice for consumers. Until that day, I just don’t see it happening.

My drug user(7+ years) brother who lives with my parents and I was recently arrested and spent 20~ days in jail(first time offender) for simple battery against myself. He was released 5 days ago and came back(plea put him on probation and released the restraining order), he had mild schizophrenia symptoms(delusional), but did not act like he was on his drugs of choice (stimulants) that day. However, his behavior has rapidly changed in the last couple of days, he is acting like he has taken stims again, stimulants increase his symptoms 10 fold.
Baring the possible drug use in mind, I encountered him laying on the floor having a conversation with it and pressed him to take a drug test, and to seek help for his mental condition which he refuses to acknowledge or believe. This enraged him immediately and he told me I was harassing him. He then escalated this by saying he would kill me twice following it up with banging on the wall.
I am not thinking I am harassing him. I fear for the safety of my family and myself and cannot tolerate this behavior anymore, let alone any hidden drug use. Really unsure what to do, I know I kept asking him questions(he does not answer any of them) but asking him questions turned into death threats against myself with 1-2 minutes of conversation while I bit my tongue to keep the situation as deescalated as possible.
There are prior death threats, threats that include (knives) deadly weapons that happened prior to his first time going to jail. He has been baker acted, and march manned on multiple occasions.
Absolutely not sure what to do with this guy, an eviction hasn't been ordered because we believe there must possibly be a better option than the streets, and of course he may act desperately after such an order.

AITA for telling my mother she would be really shitty psychiatrist?
My (late20s F) mum (late40s) talked about wanting to be psychiatrist/psychologist as her dream job since I can remember. She is sewing clothes for living so obviously that never happened and it is not gonna since she is not exactly study type but it is her dream.
Well few years ago I got diagnosed with anxiety, depression and this year with ADHD. I kept it a secret from her for a year but she once found my medical note on the table when she unexpectedly visited me. She told me she does not want me to take antidepressants and I told her "oh well bad for you" and that was it.
But anytime I mentioned something connected with my mental health, she shut me down very quickly and told me there is no reason for me to be depressed and she does not get it. She told me that I should stop taking the pills several times and once I told her back if she would prefer me to suffer and she started to shout at me to stop blackmailing her.
Well today we were watching some series and she commented that the moderator is bipolar and that she does not understand how is it to be depressed. I told her it's hard and the tiredness is really crushing. She stopped me and told me she does not wanna hear about it. She told me she hates when people use mental condition as reason why they cannot do something and that most cases are that and she thinks I am just whiny and hysterical (which makes no sense as I am working in a hospital, I do cancer research and publish articles and I am also finishing my second degree, i wouldn't exactly call myself "something cannot be done"). I got really pissed at her and told her she would be really shitty psychiatrist if she thinks everybody with mental condition is a piece of shit who just whines how life is unfair. She got mad at me and told me she is very empathetic person and she would be great and then left. She hasn't spoken to me since.

I went grocery shopping yesterday for a few things to make Philly cheese steaks. (It’s probably worth mentioning I live in the Midwest—where the cost of living is generally considered lower than in the big cities on the coasts.) Anyway, $9 for 8 rolls, $40 for the steak, and about 5-6 for the cheese. The veggies were a few dollars but the price isn’t really my entire point here. It was my day off of work and I was willing to splurge a little bit to make a nice meal for my family. I enjoy preparing my own meals as opposed to paying for over priced food at restaurants, plus cooking is a coping skill for me. By the time I was done shopping (drinks/sides,) it would have been cheaper to dine out with the entire family. Now here’s where I’m lost, the quality of the vegetables horrific, it took forever to find an onion without some sort of rot on it. And there ended up being a fly in one of the packages of meat. I understand that we can’t control everything but my god, for that price you should at least get some quality in the product. When I start putting together everything I’ve been seeing or hearing about lately, it concerns me. I’m not going to name drop the store I was shopping at because every time in the past 30 year, I’ve never had a problem—the meat and produce is always fresh and local and the prices are generally not as bad. The way this system is set up is not working, I’ve seen so many post about workers being underpaid and undervalued; slaves basically. The younger generation is going to forget how to cook because it’s cheaper and more efficient to rely on somebody else. It’s like a whole system set up on taking away personal sovereignty and it’s set up so well that most people just go through the motions everyday without even questioning why everyone is in debt and lacks self autonomy. It’s a sad state of affairs. Parents, teach your children because the system is just teaching them to be dependent.

Some mod in my list is causing ridiculously slow walk speed when legs are crippled. I don't mind some penalty, but it's actually insane how slow it is. I'd like to change it. At first I thought it was something in stewietweaks but I cannot find any setting for this.

I am wondering about my sister so I can gain a better understanding. I am currently upset and am aware of this. Here's a bit of background about our family. My dad gave no positive attention to my sister, or me growing up, he is a control freak, he did nothing with us as children other than go shopping, or to the park as a family a few times, and family vacations to the same boring location over and over again (he is scared of change). My mum spent her life with my dad, unhappy, trapped, and controlled, and has to deal with him getting drunk every night. My mum is nice, simple minded though, and is so placid and easy going (both of her parents left her when she was very young and then she met my dad) but she did nothing about it and put up with it, even though she lives in misery in front of negative UK tv drama shows in the evening, while my dad drinks his vodka and repeats himself, whilst pausing the tv to comment to the room every so often!. They have no friends, at 73 my dad is still drinking a bottle of vodka a day, and it shows. His temper is terrible. If I give a list of things that I've noticed about my sister, how might she be diagnosed? I am on vacation with her at the moment and it's not going well. I am very sensitive, which doesn't help in dealing with her, here are some things that have happened, and some traits of hers that have hurt me in the past, I am wondering what might be going on. - she is very judgemental, and doesn't think about the big picture, and where her judgements might be coming from. - she is controlling (kind of like my dad who is a control freak. Over the years, even though she knows my dad is explosive, she hasn't given up, she'll push, and say things she know will really offend him, where as I would think, OK I know how this is going to go, avoid at all costs, she'll still go there and end up in a fight with him. - when my friend died in a motorcycle accident, I told her he wasn't happy in life for various reasons, and she responded with 'well maybe it's good that he passed away'. - today my foot was hurting and I needed a band aid. we were heading to get on a boat in spain, I asked her to wait for me while I got a band aid. So when I get back 3 mins later, she's gone, and has taken my mum with her t find the boat boarding area. I panicked and looked around, went in the wrong direction, got really stressed, she basically went to board the boat without me and tried giving me directions there. I was clear about where I was going and that i'd be back in a minute, but she had to leave to get the boat, which I found selfish and inconsiderate, we had enough time. Having no ticket, no idea what the name of the boat she had bought tickets for, anxiety, and feeling abandonment, I gave her a peace of my mind when I found her and told her you don't leave your family - your brother, when he's asked you to wait a minute. We are in a new country in a busy part with boats EVERYWHERE in all directions.Not that its relevant, but my mum chimes in with 'you shouldn't have wondered off!!!'. argh! - my sister is clumsy, quite ego based, and seems to think highly of herself but in an ego way. - she can't drive a car, she failed her test over 20 times before giving up, which deep inside I felt, that if she did drive she would crash. - I once taught my sister how to double click on a mouse, and she couldn't do it. - she is heavy footed, and has a bad knee as a result (stomps about a bit) - she can be nice in offering water, food, and making nice gestures, but after she does something more serious, like leave me ditched, I find it hard to accept these gestures immediately afterwood, although she is trying, I just have a knee jerk reaction where I want to be left alone. - she doesn't seem to consider me properly. she does in a surface level type way. but even this trip, i'd asked her to include me. she books it, then tells me after, I reluctantly buy my tickets too, even though the hotels only offer 2 beds, and no 3 beds, so it's quite expensive for me. - she isn't smart mentally at playing board games, or sports. - she is unhappy with her weight (been dieting forever since young) always talks about my mums weight, what my mum is eating, and judges. -Once I took my top off a few years back, I was in shape (not overweight anyway) and she grinned and looked me up and down, not in a pervy way, but in a judgemental way, and I find it hard relaxing, knowing the judgements might be there. - she is VERY animated. She is usually either frowning or has a weird look on her face, she wears her inside on the outside. I will say, that I have a bit of this also. but nowhere near as bad. - she has had cognative behavioural therapy a long time ago and found it beneficial, but I think that she needs more, she didnd't follow up with any of this type stuff after it seems like a wasted effort (although maybe not) - Once I huffed because she asked me to get something after a long day and I had just sat down, I was tired, and she exploded in rage. Creaming somewhat like a demon. Or george castanza's father, if you know who this character is! - This was taught by my dad (blasting if the conversation doesn't go his way) and she resorts to this sometimes and it's akward and when she does I just cave and leave it it's too much. I grew out of this in my early 20's after being away from my father for the last 20 years, and I'm happy I did because I know it's abusive behavior and unacceptable. - She does try to make amends, but again it just feels like... after the treatment I've had enough... and I'm stuck on vacation with her sitting in my hotel room because i've had enough of it for a day (feeling like a loser over here with some guilt because I am not handling her very well). - She isn't good with riding bikes, her motor skills seem ok at first glance, but she is pretty clumsy. One the way here, she almost sent my mums luggage to france, instead of spain. - she has never saved for a home. she spends her money on vacations, multuple vacations every year. - With this vacation, she doesn't appreciate I've spent 5000 on the trip. And planned everything, asking me if iher plans are OK, but really, she knows what she wants to do and will get v upset if I interfear. I did suggest a town I wanted to visit, which she quickly shot down. She does however say we can pick a day to do all the things she wants, and asks me what I want to do sometimes, but I feel reluctant to want to work with her because it feels like we are not playing on an even playing field to begin with, so I just give up and do what she wants because it feels crappy. - My 19 y/o daughter doesn't appreciate her meatheadedness and didn't want to come on the trip because of her, which I understood and didn't give her a hard time over. She has hung out with her before and finds her mental behavior annoying. - She calls herself a crazy cat lady!! proudly and strangley! - after some drinks recently at a family gathering, after a few drinks, she shouted / proclaimed in a proud angry righteous way 'I"M A CRAZY CAT LADY AND I DONT F'INGGGG CARE'. I just looked at her stone cold sober like... j christ... (she has two cats and likes to pet random cats like most cat lovers do. - She is very surface level. Somewhat obvlivious, I am more of a deep thinker, much more empathetic and thoughtful when it comes to others, which makes being around her difficult. I am really into self awareness, because i've had a lot to work through. Although I know this isn't about me (this is where the part of being being upset is probably not keeping me on topic). - She is narrow minded at the best of times. I realise some of the above might seem laughable. Doing my best to paint a picture, and probably venting as well. I am familiar with narcism, but I am hoping for a more accurate idea of what might be going on, obviously I won't take it firmly as a diagnosis, but I am just wondering what could be going on with her mentally, is she on the spectrum or something else?

10 Guidelines for Teaching Your Children About Islam

1- Teach your children “Who is Allah?” to strengthen their faith:

The first recommendation I have for you concerning Islamic studies for children is to begin with an introduction to the Creator. Instead of providing your children with a theoretical introduction, periodically present them with a simple and intriguing truth. Similar to: Have you observed the stars at night? How gorgeous are they? Then inform them that Allah has enabled them to shine for us.

2- Present Islam by means of interactive games and attractive worksheets:

Start by teaching them kalima (the oneness of Allah) and giving them a cause to think that Allah is unique.
Make salah kids-friendly. Instead of instructing them to wake up and rush for wudhu, pray, make do, etc., explain what salah is (a conversation between God and His creation). Say something like, “Hey guys, it’s time to pray to Allah.”
You can enrol your children in online tajweed programs to help them master their pronunciation so that they make no mistakes in their salah.

3-Recite Islamic tales before bedtime:

At bedtime, when it’s just you and your children, they will pay close attention to your stories. Engage them and arouse their curiosity so that they will daily request the story.
Choose prophetic accounts from the Quran. Thus, kids will readily learn about so many of the Prophets.
Instill numerous moral lessons in your children through the stories of your companions. Online Tafseer classes for kids can also help make sure that the stories are short and true.
I tell stories to kids in person, and I don’t tell them how the story ends to get them interested. The other day, I told the remainder of the story.
For storytelling sessions, children’s dispositions and interests are crucial. Do not bombard them with too much information at once. Create your own method for making the narrative concise and to the point. Or until your children are willing to listen attentively.
Remember that it is not the quantity of Islamic culture and history that you must feed their brains with, but rather the quality, for it is these young minds that will blossom in the future.

4- Act as a model first:

Another essential idea is to serve as an example for your children. Follow Islam and be the embodiment of Islam. The more you follow Islamic rules and traditions, the easier it will be to teach your kids.

Do not request prayer if you are not currently praying. Do not ask someone to quit lying if you are also lying in their presence. Do not expect them to act differently from how you do because kids watch their parents and copy what they do.
Remember that children are not only a blessing, but also a responsibility for which we are accountable. How you treat and interact with them will determine how they treat and interact with the world around them. Therefore, exercise extreme caution and pay close attention to their Online Islamic classes, in which students can effortlessly learn everything about Islam from a trained Islamic studies tutor.

5- Adopt Islamic etiquette everywhere possible:

If you follow Islamic etiquette and morals everywhere you go, your children will adopt them without hesitation.
Numerous children inquire about birthday festivities and why they are not participating when their peers are. So, make an effort to celebrate what is significant in ISLAM so that people are aware of the true event. For example, rejoice when your children perform salah in the mosque, cheer when they fast, and applaud and delight while they are sipping water while seated.
In this way, you will acclimatise your children to the actual Islamic way of life without telling them it is Islamic or forbidden.
Fast and encourage your children to fast, not because it is a command, but because it brings you closer to Allah because the reward for fasting is only known to Allah.
Donate alms (sadaqah) and teach your children to avoid Raya (bragging). Motivate your children to perform sadaqah to protect them from evil. Inform them of the Prophet’s hadith concerning sadaqah. It will encourage their excessive participation in this action.
Children are already being born on Fitrah, therefore half of the task has already been completed. As parents, you must mould and shape them.

6- Teach your children about Islam via books, toys, and cartoons.

This strategy is excellent when children can independently read books. Give them engaging books on Islam and allow them to build their understanding on their own.
For infants and young children of toy-playing age, provide Islamic dolls and stuffed animals that recite Surahs rather than songs.
Numerous online cartoons, such as ZAKY and IQRA CARTOON NETWORK, can support your children’s online Islamic education. In our technological age, it is difficult for children to avoid screens, so why not have them watch something beneficial?

7- Instruct them in supplications:

There are numerous online Islamic programmes for children where teachers teach them duas from the Quran and hadith. If you want to accomplish this at home, it is quite simple.
Learn and repeat duaas pertaining to daily life aloud in front of your children, and you will notice that they have spontaneously learned them. Recite duaas prior to eating a meal, visiting the restroom, riding in a vehicle, going to bed, and on other occasions.
When your children reach the age of toddlerhood, explain to them the significance of the Duaas they are repeating to connect with Allah.
A bonus recommendation: read the morning and evening Azkar aloud. Your children will become accustomed to chanting Azkar.

8- Create a sunnah-friendly environment at home:

As previously said, children imitate what they observe. Follow the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad SAWW and establish an environment conducive to the sunnah in order for them to learn all about Islam.
For instance, greeting salaam to everyone, eating with the right hand, caressing and embracing children, preparing the bed before going to sleep, washing dishes and even clothes, assisting others, and sharing possessions are examples of Islamic practises.
Keep in mind that this is not a game show in which you must perform all sunnah-related actions for a few days. This is a question of life and death. Adopt sunnah first, then incorporate them into your life. If you detour or detract, the children will easily follow suit!

9- Perform Islamic nasheeds rather than music:

Modern children do enjoy listening to music since their peers, neighbours, and cousins do! The second advice for teaching Islam to children is therefore to play nasheed instead of music. There are several nasheeds regarding Allah’s blessings, the lives of the Prophets, humanity, Islam, and a great deal more.
Allow them to attend Islamic lessons for children online or in your neighbourhood so they can enjoy nasheeds alongside their studies and maintain a positive disposition.

10- Celebrate Islamic events to foster affinity and affinity:

Many parents are unaware of the dates and number of wars won by Muslim heroes, the beginning of the Islamic new year, etc. If you want your children to learn Islam, you should celebrate Islamic holidays to foster in them a passion and interest for Islam.
A Muslim child requesting his parents for a Halloween costume when the holiday is just around the corner calls into question the tarbiyah and training of his parents.
If you celebrate Ramadan, Eid, Hajj, etc. with fervour, there is no reason for your child to request Western festivals!

I am writing this in hopes for some help and to guide others to not have the same fate as me. I think I have made the biggest mistake of my life. It has been 5 months since it happened and I haven't been able to fix it. This phone is the only connection to the realm of my birth. My original world. I probably cannot undo my mistake but I can guide future players.
My phone it's Android. It has an IR blaster, the only reason I bought it, and for some reason, this phone can hold its network through dimensional change. As if it's a loophole, a glitch in the broken matrix that i was facing. Not that i could actually make any use of it because I am still here.
The people here look like us. They all do. They are very sapient. They look just like us. But my bones know that they don't have the same origin as I do. They are good though. Have the same societal issues, the same intolerable governing body, protestors, and unrealistic agendas, the left wing and right wing at each other's throats. People who should touch some grass have podcasts. People who should have podcasts enjoy their lives. They are humans, just like us, but they are not us.
The rules stated by the urban legend still strike the same to this day if time and space follow the same routine, follow the floor number pattern, pay no heed to the lady that enters the elevator on the 5th floor, leave the building immediately if you return to floor 1, etc. I followed them all correctly, but the rules are no guarantee as to whether you will be safe or alive after your elevator journey is done, the rules only make sure the procedure is correct.
Hey you know what I will write down the rules in short, for your reference to my guidelines but the rules should always be memorized to your bones and spine, this is your SOS and your key. You will find the set of rules on any website. I suggest visiting multiple of them before you start your endeavor. Because each of them gives you different kinds of warnings, something the successful players learned from their own experience. And take this advice of reading through all of those points from this unsuccessful player.
One thing the rules on blog sites don't mention is the choice of which world you want to enter. Because most players enter an identical world with no electronics and no living thing around them. Only a red crossed window that's far stretched away from where ever you look and keeps on moving further away from you. My case was vaguely different.

1. So firstly all you do is enter a building with more than 10 stories.
   
2. Enter the lift via the first floor and only by pressing the "up" button
   
3. Follow a pattern of floors, press 4 then 2 then 6 then 10 then 5.
   
4. On 5 a lady shall or shall not enter your floor. Then press 1
   
5. When you press 1, you will either reach 1. or you will reach 10.
   
6. If you reach 1, get the f out of the building and don't come near it, not in 6-7 months i suggest.
   
7. If you do reach 10 congratulations. your first part of the journey is a success
   

now Something, about the lady. Do not interact with her at any cost because of course she is not a lady, no matter how pretty she looks, oh you looked at her? alas, that's also a grave mistake. don't look at her, don't talk to her. Just ignore her total existence. If you know of the elevator game you are already aware of how you should not interact with the lady and all. But one thing is often left blurry is that what you should do if she does not enter. This was my case.
So my advice here: If the lady on the 5th floor does not enter. Then just hope that you do return to the 1st floor after you press it. if you do no then, and start ascending. continuously press any and every floor button for it to stop, or maybe the emergency or call button so that the staff can stop the elevator. Because if you end up reaching the 10th floor, good chances are you get to meet me and we make a cute therapy consult group for people who can't return back. :)
I remember everything from that night so vividly. I did your usual pattern follow. I entered the lift when no one was using it. I entered 4. went up there, meh nothing happened. Then again I pressed 2. I felt a vague chill around me. As if the mechanism of the ritual was understanding my intention. I pressed 6, then after it reached 6, I pressed 2, then 10 then 5. Oh, 5. The elevator door opened. And there she was, standing with all her glory. I did not look at her. but of course, i could see her from waist to bottom. She was dressed in Russian traditional clothing. not something i was expecting from an urban legend that became popular in Korea and japan. I think her wardrobe is a good collection from all cultures. or maybe there's more like her? Who knows?
I could feel it in my spine she was looking at me. She stopped the elevator with her foot so that the doors don't close and asked, "Baby which floor are you going?"
I followed the rules, did not look at her, did not reply to her, and completely ignored her.
She said, "Not much of a speaker eh? no worries have your ride. I hope you have a better life."
I have no idea why she said that. Looking back I think she knew what was going to happen to me. She knew that I was not going to end up in the world most player venture into. "Better life," she said.
She did not enter the lift and I pressed 1. The ritual, now tainted because she did not enter, worked. I reached the 10th floor. And when the doors opened, it was like nothing changed. The building I entered was a hotel. The housekeeping staff was running around. I heard children crying. Some Karen was screaming at a worker because her coffee, which she made from their amenities tasted bland. It was very confusing for me. I think I assumed the ritual did not work. And the lady was just another lady who could have been high. I walked out of the elevator and I felt great.
"those silly online urban legends, such lies" I probably had muttered to myself.
I took the lift again, reached the ground floor, and walked out of the building. Everything was going well until my head started hurting and spinning. and i was slowly passing out. and that's the exact moment i remembered from one of the posts of an earlier player "Do not at any chance lose your consciousness. and if you do, no matter where you wake up, return to the building, re-follow the exit ritual pattern and return to your own world."
My head felt dizzy as I woke up. In my very room. I thought to myself, was it all a dream? Did I search so much about some damn urban legend that I had such a deeply engraving dream? For heaven's sake. I jerked myself up and got down from my bed. Even my clothing is same as the last evening. I didn't know what was more weird, that i was wearing the clothes from my dream or that i remember the dream so vividly that i can even recall the outfit i was wearing. Also my phone was in my pocket. This is something i just never do. No matter how sleepy i am. i keep my phone on the other end of my table, in case it might just blast if the lithium goes through a thermal runaway.
AND! That is when i noticed. My table. It was completely on the opposite side. No no, it is right beside my bed, just like every day but the bed, and the entire room, its opposite. As if it were mirroring the room i know. Also, It wasn't just a complete mirror. my room was smaller, just a bit in breadth. One wouldn't notice it even if they visit my room on a weekly basis. But it's my damn room of course i would know even if a fly moved differently. Lo and behold, that extra loss on my room, was added to my washroom. Again, one wouldn't just notice it right away.
In a nightmare-like urgency, I rushed down the stairs to call complain my mother, and that is when the realization hit me that I did, in fact, play the elevator game. My dad was there. In the kitchen. Alive and happily married. Figuratively much different from how I remember him. I stood there in shock with my mouth wide open. How could this be? I remember my father. The last time I lived with him was until I was 9. When my parents parted ways. The last time I saw him was when I was 11, when he died. Not that I cried, he was far from what a father is supposed to be. I am 25 now.
"Good morning Sweetie!" His voice sounded oddly different. I was utterly petrified by this moment. There was a quirky yet calming nature to his sound which creeped me out even more. I dashed out of the house while grabbing my backpack from the sofa. I could hear him call out my name in my concern. This is it. This is definitely it. I crossed the borders of the unknown realm. But why are people here? Isn't it supposed to be dark with no one in it? No electricity and all ? But there is everything. This is a whole other world, what went wrong?
I had to return to my world. I ran through the roads and traffic to the hotel. Hotel Sunset. As I crossed the roads I could see it all. Cars stopping at the orange light. People walking in blue. I mean they are still following basic physics by using orange, longer wavelength for stopping cars. but does Red not exist in this world? not it does, OH MY GOD, the road lines are red.
I hurried through the crowd to reach the hotel. I pulled out my phone, which was surprisingly working perfectly. Internet, gps everything. It said i reached my location. "Hotel sunset"
I looked up, it said "Hotel Moon shine". I am surprised it wasn't named "moon rise", it'd would have been the cherry on top then.
I walked in, the Interior looked the same. I waited and waited and waited for the evening to hit and the horde to lessen. I stood up and walked to the lift. I repeated the entire process.
The lift stopped at 5. Instead of the lady, someone else entered. I of course didn't look up, but they entered hurriedly, screaming my name and i had to look up, i was already freaked out at this point. It was me. I was looking at me. she, well me, or wait she? she held the lift by her foot. What's up with women in the elevator game to hold the elevator by the foot?
"what did you do!? " I - I mean she said, one that looked like me.
"what did i do?" i replied back. . Whoever this doppelganger was. sure i was petrified. but here i was.
"DID THE LADY ENTER YOUR LIFT ?" she screamed at me.
"wha?" i was trembling at her screeching was. the white portion of her eyes started to redden.
"OH MY GOD DID SHE OR NOT ENTER WHEN YOU DID THE RITUAL?" she again proclaimed.
"she didn't." i replied and slowly lost my leg strength and somewhat collapsed while sitting down.
"why? why did you complete the ritual then? did you not read before you did? you are supposed to be me, you are supposed to be smart. heck, aren't you supposed to be smarter? oh my god. is that my backpack or yours?"
I just shook my head and handed her the backpack, it was hers definitely. I never put on any anime pins on mine. Speaking of anime pins, naruto here has pink hair. Isn't that cool?
she took out her phone and said "If you want to go back home go to this tumblr account and download the app. The account is called buihotline.tumblr.com "
And she left.
Was that the me of this universe? do we have counterparts in every universe? How many universes are there? are these even universes the way our science teaches us universes?
The lift started to quake. the light started flickering and I could hear some noise. soft noises that slowly grew louder and louder until they became uncontrollable screams. my ear drums were hurting beyond control. until it all stopped and the lift door opened. I stepped outside. Yet I was still there at "Moon shine hotel".
I tried the ritual again. I ended up back here. To floor 1 and I went back "home" to my "dad" and "mom". For the next 7 days, I kept on going back to the elevator, trying the ritual continuously and failing. On my way, I noticed new and new things about their world. These people like to greet each other in a very weird way. They grab each other's throats and smile. Almost sadistic. Language is very similar, but there are a few words and phrases here and there that have changed with customs and traditions. Honey here tastes like metal. Cows don't Moo, and birds chirp, but the sounds are unfamiliar, dogs don't exist. cats are the only domestic animals here. I read similar things in some blogs, but never did I think I would get to experience them for real.
Either way. On every failed ritual, I reached floor 1 and went back home. and repeated the cycle Until the 7th day, I got so fed up, that I kept on trying multiple times. but all I did was end up on floor 1. But I saw the weirdest thing.
Well, I can fill in on what happens if you immediately don't leave the building after playing the elevator game and ending up on floor 1. You see, well better than seeing failing grades or not being able to return to your own world, ghosts. Yep pretty much. Deranged souls that roam around the building. That is exactly what you see. And once they notice your existence, god save you. If there is any.
Mine was rather sarcastic. They did infact noticed me. They all came running towards me, looked right at me, smelled me and then slowly moved away and kept on about roaming. My heart intensified so much, it felt like I just lost a marathon I almost won.
I saw a man, maybe a bit older than me, in his 20s, walk down the entrance come and sit beside me. "They won't attack someone who's like them. You are of no use to them. They used to belong here, but don't anymore. and you never did."
I looked at him with a frightening shock. I took my bag and ran back home. Only when i came back home i realized he could have had answers. But i was so terrified at the moment, the only thing I could think of was getting away from him. I needed answers. I need to enter the website the other me mentioned. I got a new phone from this world. they didn't have Google, but I tell you their search engine is much better, it has AI integrated within. The account never opened from the new phone. Tumblr did. but that account never did. Then I tried my own phone and voila! The page had nothing. A heading, a two-liner bio, and a link. Link to download the app. Tumblr happens to be one of the only few apps that do work in other dimensions. Apparently, it has something to do with the first person who jumped dimensions, not only did they jump, but they also jumped through time and made sure every world had Tumblr. It's kinda funny they could have chosen Reddit, it's much more effective.
I loaded the app. Its a 2010's forum-based app. There are discussion topics under which you make threads. You got a chat box to interact with other users. the main discussion had a guide. I searched through it and finally came to the part "how to enter and leave a mirror world" aaand its blank. well not totally. A couple of reasons saying why you should not enter it. A bullet point that said download this pdf to know how to return back to your own world. I hurriedly clicked on it and boom the file did not open. I have never been so disappointed in my life.
There are so many dimensions else than the one with red cross and mirror dimensions. it is almost like aliens exist because some "humans" look so different. some people probably might even have ended up on my world as well. I wonder how they are taking it.
Apparently, only devices of one world present in another world, or at least have been in a few can open the website and run the apk file. Only androids work across dimensions. There's a conspiracy theory that the creators of android have got something to do with the entire interdimensional rituals and breaking the laws of space and time.
Either way, hoping to get some results I posted on the site wishing for some advice on opening the file or someone just copy-pasting the rules I guess.
I received a DM saying, "Since you have successfully crossed a mirror dimension You are capable of much more than you can imagine. But you should know how to use them, you have to be responsible for every move you make"
Good lord, I am not Spider-Man. The user further said, " I do not know where you are from, but I am from dimension 17391, go to the universal map translator and put the location, "Kairo office main building, st. red 22209". It will automatically give you a few building locations of your world." But the interface is very slow. Because it's not a singular place that has a counterpart in every dimension, there is one in every 4 hours of journey. It's an arbitrary location. It will take some time. maybe days. But you will reach."
I asked the user a dozen questions, how do I find the translator map, how many universes are there, and what do I do when I reach there? Why does everyone speak English? But they never replied. But now I have something, hope. A twinge of hope.
I searched around the app and found the map feature, build within the forum. It was on the top layer, but a confused me couldn't find it right away.
Ever since I found the map It has been nothing but a dilemma. 5 months. 5 months of intense searching and nothing. The first time I entered the location and searched, it landed me at the coordinates of a graveyard. The Irony. The second time, a fish market, the third, 3-storey guest house with the most normal Karen.
I can't even venture out every day. I have a "life" here that I have to maintain. This me had a similar job. Marketing manager at a pretty good company. The pay is almost the same. A bit lower here, but hey cost of living is also lower here. Putting those two together I probably have the exact same pay. But they have more facilities. Better vacation leaves. That is exactly what i took right after i downloaded the app, to understand the world better, and the changes here and there.
Morning, I go to work. where I sort out the place I will visit. and after work, i leave. Some places were nearby, some were far. One was in the neighboring country, luckily, the passport here is strong. But none of them work. I think I have broken the "not your universe? not the place? click again" button. Sundays and Saturdays are for long-distance locations. Also every day i cannot afford to go, even though the pay is good. In my world I used to live alone with Mum visiting me now and then. She and I had a family business along with my job, so all was good. Here I don't have a place of my own. And I gotta pay the bills around the house and sometimes take care of the business as well. Things are so similar yet different. I feel likeIi live in a deja vu.
By now i have crossed out almost 75 locations within 5 months, all of them being complete failures. I have crossed out 60 universes that aren't this one. I have made multiple posts on that app, describing my condition, where i am, and which universe it might be. If i even know this universe number and input it, the map translator will work much much better. I describe my original universe in the posts expecting someone to understand me and maybe send me a picture of my mother and friends, but all i have received are words of sympathy and hopefulness.
A few more people have send me their "kairo" addresses but they all can send only one to two messages before the chatbox stops. One of them managed to message me that i have to enter my universe number in the settings for the interface to work better. I also haven't been able to find the man from the hotel on the app or at the hotel either.
what do I do? Any piece of advice?

I live such a sad life. I try to motivate myself, but I always end up relapsing. It's sad to live a life you never wanted.
I wish I was like those simple girls who guys would be inlove and would write songs about. But here I am, I'm just a girl who'd they'd wanna take in bed then never mention to anyone about. I'm just trash. I try my best to be pretty, but I'm still not enough.
I'm not sharing this for attention. This is how I feel. I would often just want to cry while working when I see my workmates being brought food or talking with their partners.

March, 1919.
After facing a 9 hours long trip, Viktor arrives at Lucrein and is received by it's cousin Ivan and his old friend Nikolay, both already living in the town for four years. It's safe to say that this town is the most facinating one Viktor ever saw in his life but that doesn't mean that the city was in it's best shape, the war has left deep scars that will take long to heal.
Their new home also wasn't the best nor the worst Viktor has lived in, but the constant water shortages became a annoying issue. After a cold bath and a cup of coffee, the three dressed their uniforms and went to work in a furniture factory, one of the few ones still open. As they arrive, Viktor observes the factory state, a grey, dusty place with old machinery, surely surviving the civil war was a tough task for the small company and it's employees.
Viktor then starts doing his task, maintaining and fixing the machines, initially is hard to understand them but thanks to his past experience fixing agricultural machines for landowners and some advice from older co-workers, he was able to pull it off. When the three arrive home, they have to deal with the fact that the three wages combined barely can cover the bills and food expenses and they have families at home to help, but they won't give up.

May, 1919.
The three are worried and fear being fired, their april wages were delayed and they already passed through eight days of hunger, they get another cold bath and don't even take breakfast as the three start their shifts at 6:00am and finish at 17:00pm, enduring such long workdays just because there aren't many better jobs around and they need cash to help their families since dustbowl wasn't soft for the small farmer, at least they finally receive their wages this month and decide to celebrate going for a walk in the town.
The night is pleasant, the moon makes a great company and the city lights are brighter as ever, the vehicles pass by and the people in the streets look determined to pass through the many hardships head on, the three go into a bar and drink a little but agreeing to not spend too much in only one night. Finally they decide to finish one of their few celebrative months going to the top of a green hill to reflect and talk about the future, with only the starts and the night creatures as witnesses.

October, 1919.
They receive the news that Nikolay's sister, Svetlana is about to give birth, after some pondering, Ivan and Viktor decide to join him and, after getting a very needed one-week leave without pay, the three make their way to the Aliev family ranch near Istront. At arrival, they found out that the baby would probably come to this world in two or three days, while Ivan and Viktor helped with the homeworks, Nikolay and the father would assist Svetlana and the midwife in any possible need.
Finally the day arrives, Svetlana sweats and screams, the baby's father and Nikolay seem to sweat even more as they distribute cigars to the family members and friends, preparing to throw a grand welcoming party for the new family member, at some point the two are called inside the room while Ivan and Viktor wait anxiously in the kitchen, after some more screaming, the midwife gives the bad news, the baby was stuck and medical help was needed, Viktor quickly called an ambulance but thanks to another heritage of the war, a destroyed infraestructure, the ambulance would take too long, Nikolay and Ivan even tried to drive Svetlana to the hospital in her husband truck but it was too late, she and the baby unfortunately died at the hospital entrance.

November, 1919.
It takes some time for the three to recover from such events, Nikolay, of course, was more affected then Ivan and Viktor as both start to work to ensure the payment of their bills. Rumors of a massive strike are raised through the town and Ivan decides to take part in it while Viktor is more skeptical about it.
Then, on the 11th day of the month, the strike really occurs, Ivan joins the sizeable demonstrations while Viktor stays home with Nikolay, the strike in Lucrein severely affects the industry and services companies and lasts two weeks as soon the demonstrations are dispersed, some achieve to be employed again while others not and the improvements for the workers are minimum and the scale of them differs from factory to factory. Viktor and Nikolay return to their posts while Ivan gets a job in another place.

December 31, 1919.
A small gathering of tired workers can be seen at the furniture factory in a New Year celebration, cheap booze and some good food are being served in two tables and the employees, foreman and even the boss himself are cheering and toasting. The three friends toast as the fireworks show starts and everyone goes to the roof to see it, Nikolay, Ivan and Viktor hug eachother and hope their future will be as brighter as those fireworks sweeping the darkness out of the sky.

Sorry for missing the last 2 weeks. Was caught up in a few things. But here is this week's post.

Today is my nephew’s birthday, so my SIL invited us to the zoo. I love the zoo. I always want to go to the zoo. I went with my SIL while we were on maternity leave (my son and her youngest are just a few weeks apart). My husband took baby and I for my birthday. It’s just fun to walk around and see animals and maybe play some Pokémon Go. So, of course, when she asked us to come I immediately said yes.
My husband did not want to go. He’s been tired and his back’s been hurting. Definitely a bummer, but he encouraged us to still go without him.
LADIES
When we got back he had cleaned the house top to bottom. He switched out the old changing table with the new one like I’ve been talking about doing for days but haven’t gotten around to. He rearranged the living room so baby has more room to play. And then when I took baby upstairs for his nap he went and bought new mulch for the yard which he just laid down. I haven’t lifted a finger all day, I never asked him to do anything, he just took it upon himself to make our house better.
I love this man so fricken much.

In the past week I’ve had three orders “dropped off at my apartment” and just not be there. I legit live in the first building in the neighborhood in a pretty obvious spot. I have my directions explicitly clear on which is exactly mine because I know some people aren’t that smart. So why am I just straight being stolen from repeatedly? I’ve contacted support multiple times about it and nothing has changed. I know they can’t control every single dasher. My most recent order I contacted support and they said they got in contact with the driver and he’d turn around and drop it back off. I stood outside for 20 minutes no one showed up. After waiting the 20 minutes I called the dasher again and he essentially told me to go fuck myself he wasn’t redelivering. I’m so sick of this shit, I’ve permanently uninstalled the app and I will not be going back. Sorry to all the dashers that actually try and can read. Didn’t realize we lived in a world of people who can’t follow simple instructions.
