2023.04.01 16:02 LocationOk1668 The Ultimate Guide to Cloud Data Storage: Benefits, Risks, and Top Providers

In today's digital age, data has become a valuable asset for businesses of all sizes. As companies generate more data than ever before, the need for secure and scalable storage solutions has skyrocketed. This is where cloud data storage comes in - an innovative technology that allows organizations to store, access, and manage their data remotely.
In this article, we'll take a closer look at cloud data storage, its benefits and risks, and some of the top providers in the market.
Benefits of Cloud Data Storage One of the most significant advantages of cloud data storage is its flexibility. Unlike traditional on-premises storage solutions, cloud storage allows businesses to scale up or down their storage needs quickly and easily, depending on their requirements. This can be especially beneficial for companies that experience seasonal fluctuations in their data usage.
Another key benefit of cloud data storage is its accessibility. With cloud storage, data can be accessed from anywhere, at any time, as long as there is an internet connection. This can be particularly useful for companies with remote employees or distributed teams.
Cloud storage is also highly cost-effective compared to traditional storage solutions. With no hardware or maintenance costs, businesses can save a significant amount of money by switching to cloud storage.
Risks of Cloud Data Storage While there are many benefits to cloud data storage, there are also some risks to consider. One of the main concerns with cloud storage is security. As data is stored remotely, there is a risk of data breaches or cyber attacks. However, by choosing a reputable cloud storage provider with robust security measures, businesses can mitigate this risk.
Another risk of cloud storage is downtime. As data is stored remotely, businesses are reliant on the provider's servers to access their data. If the provider experiences downtime or technical issues, this can cause significant disruptions to the business. However, by choosing a reliable provider with a strong track record of uptime, businesses can reduce this risk.
Top Cloud Data Storage Providers There are many cloud data storage providers on the market, each with their own unique features and pricing plans. Some of the top providers include:
Raksmart is a leading cloud storage provider that offers a range of storage solutions for businesses of all sizes. With robust security measures, 24/7 customer support, and competitive pricing plans, Raksmart is a popular choice for businesses looking to switch to cloud storage.
Conclusion In conclusion, cloud data storage is a powerful technology that offers numerous benefits to businesses. While there are some risks to consider, by choosing a reputable provider with strong security and uptime measures, businesses can mitigate these risks and enjoy the many benefits of cloud storage. And when it comes to cloud storage providers, Raksmart stands out as a top choice for businesses looking for reliable, cost-effective, and scalable storage solutions. 2023.04.01 15:59 Mongthew Tips and tricks

Hi just sharing tips that I found out playing the game, I've seen lots of talk about the limeware plate in the beginning but did you know, in the other room where the knife is stuck in the note on the table, you can literally take everything in that room without being caught and also the little room with a bedroll and few sacks in it too, if you sell your cheapest items first one at a time, the traders disposition towards you increases by 1 everytime you trade with them as along as you don't exit talking to them,(continue doing that until they are 100 disposition) then sell the more expensive items to them, doing it that way will get you alot more money for your items and better prices at the beginning of the game with no skills or personality required

2023.04.01 15:54 xPenguinzx I was hired to clean out archives of old patient data for a mental institution, this was what I found...

It started with an itch. An itch along the edge of my right eye. An itch that I scratched and rubbed. An itch that wouldnโ€™t go away. It was like Iโ€™d gotten dust in it, or a speck dirt that Iโ€™d only been massaging deeper into my eye. Yet, no amount of tears that welled to the surface, or water that I splashed into my face seemed to fix it. It was an itch I tried to bear, thought I could bear, but I was wrong.
โ€˜Do you want me to help?โ€™
My brow furrowed, head twisting while I searched for whoโ€™d spoken. I was alone on the sidewalk, walking my daily route along the local park. The air was crisp that morning, a subtle breeze had been whistling in my ear all throughout the walk. I wondered if perhaps it had been the wind, its gentle caress that had whispered a tune into my ear. I felt ridiculous in the moment, the one eye I wasnโ€™t covering with my hand swiveled to check my surroundings. There wasnโ€™t even a tree for someone to have been hiding behind.
I smiled a slight grin, shaking my head as if it would help quell the rising embarrassment. Yet, there was an undeniable appeal to the offer. The constant rubbing and probing had started to morph into a pain, more a prickling annoyance than anything substantial. Yet, Iโ€™d long since become annoyed with the inconvenience. Mind drifting to such dramatic thoughts, I weighed the offer. Iโ€™d give anything to make the itch go away. Before I raised my hand to poke at the sensitive area once more, I glanced around with embarrassed trepidation. No one was near, yet my face was warm, flush from the unavoidable awkwardness. โ€œSure,โ€ I said quietly, my voice nearly cracking, โ€œhelp me out.โ€
I didnโ€™t know how to explain it, but my eye stopped itching. More than that, the pain dissipated too. It was like it had never happened. I removed my hand from where it had been pressing against the socket, blinking away a moment of blurry half-vision.
I went about my day without giving it another thought, letting the warmth of the sun soothe my concerns until it dissipated back into an oddity of the otherwise mundane morning.
The next day, the itch returned. It was not the slow escalation that built over time, not like the morning last. It returned immediately, and without the encouragement of my touch a searing pain came to join it. It was sudden and brutal, like nothing I could have prepared myself for. I winced, sucking a short breath through clenched teeth while the agony felt like a nail had punctured my eye, an invisible hammer pounding the stake deeper through the orb as it burrowed towards my brain. Beneath it all, was the desire to wipe at my eye, to press into it deeper with the flesh of my palm, anything that would lessen the pain and overwhelming urge to scratch at it some more.
My jaw opened with a click, muscles tightening around clenched joints. I started to cry out, the overwhelming pain so profoundly unique, unlike anything Iโ€™d known before. A shaky hand rising to my face, I pressed the back of it into my face, wrist twisting as the bones of my knuckles rolled into my eye socket.
For a fraction of a second, the white hot poker that had been stabbed into the edge of my eye lessened. But it only lasted for part of a breath, just long enough for me to think that the worst of it might be done. Oh, how I was wrong.
The torture leaped from the edge of my eye to encompass the whole orb. With a feeling like knives were dragging their edges in sadistic figure eights against the gelatinous flesh. My stomach twisted, and I was sure that I would empty my breakfast onto the floor. All the while, my world was starting to spin, encompassing delirium gripping my mind. I cried out in pain once more, this time wetted by moisture that streamed down my cheeks and poured from my nose. I donโ€™t know when, but Iโ€™d entered the fetal position, my free hand wrapping around my knees to pull them closer to my chest โ€“ as if that would somehow help me.
As the pain continued to increase, my thoughts became muddier, with every passing second it was becoming harder to form a cohesive thought. I knew my limited options were becoming even scarcer, I knew that soon I would black out from the pain and by then my fate would be sealed. I tried to think of something to try, except only my screams rattled my brain, the only brief respite being when a fresh inhale was needed to produce more of the painfilled noise. I didnโ€™t know who would hear, I lived alone, and the walls leading to the outside world were fairly thick. Even if someone heard me, and happened to call the police; even if they made it to me before I gave myself a hernia - what could they possibly do?
Between a volley of screaming that my tucked head had been directing to my knees, I stopped to suck in a short inhale. When I started again, a new sound pulled at the back of my mind, barely audible over my own voice.
โ€˜Do you want me to help?โ€™
Silence filled my home. Jaw creaking from its fully extended position, vision blurred from the tears that covered both pupils while I hesitated. Did I hear that? I wondered for a fraction of a second. โ€œWhat?โ€ my voice rasped in a hoarse sound, my throat torn from my abrupt and violent usage of it. The voice was more like a whisper when it had spoken to me, I was unsure if Iโ€™d even heard it or if my mind had conjured it in the delirium.
โ€œWould you like my help?โ€
My head nodded furiously, a new round of tears spilling to the surface. โ€œYes, yes,โ€ I begged, โ€œplease make it stop.โ€
Same as the last time, the pain melted away as abruptly as it had come on. With shaky limbs, I rose from the floor, my breath still quivering as quiet whimpers escaped my lips. Blinking away the moisture I stared at the floor in a confused amazement, wondering what was going on, or if Iโ€™d maybe imagined the whole thing. Besides the constant shivers from the dump of adrenaline and the crust along my cheek I didnโ€™t have any hard evidence, or witnesses to the strange episodes.
Dragging feet across the floor, the adrenaline gave way to such a heavy exhaustion, the urge to collapse on my bed and sleep for a day was an alluring proposition. After what felt like an extremely long minute of lumbering to the bathroom, I made it to the mirror, hoping to find some proof of my pain that I could show someone.
When I looked up at the reflective pane hanging above the sink, I flinched so hard that I nearly fell into the tub behind me. The image was distorted, like an object held so close to my face that part of it had duplicated. In the mirror, half of my face seemed the same as Iโ€™d seen it when I brushed my teeth a few hours earlier.
The other half of my face was a sickly green, holes pockmarked my flesh with red and pink beneath. Aside from my pumice stone complexion, gashes dragged deep wounds erratically at different angles across my face, many of the creases formed lips of hardened puss and gangrene. Some of the wounds dug deeper to show the milky white bone beneath. The front of my nose had also fallen off or decayed to a point where all that was left was the twin tunnel leading into my brain. In the ghoulish half of my now haunting visage, my eye popped from its socket. The eye lids long since decayed to leave a permanently wide-eyed expression, the gaps between the yellow stained orb and the socket gave it the appearance of floating inside my face.
My otherwise normal eye widened, panic and confusion crawling up from the depths. Directing my hand to rise to my face, I watched it slowly creep from the bottom of my vision. As it crossed into the half of my face that was closer to a mummified husk, my digits changed. The skin around my hand turned putrid, the digits became gangly, while fingernails curled and fell off. Waving my fingers in front of my face, I watched the bones and sagging skin sway like a tattered curtain. I gawked at the sight with a morbid curiosity for a few seconds before yanking it from view, a sudden urgency brought on by fear of it as atrophying if I held it out for any longer.
Hidden from view, I clenched my hand in a few investigatory squeezes, rubbing into it with deep massaging presses. It felt normal, but I needed to be sure. Eyes drifting down, I caught a glimpse of my exposed forearm. Like my hand, craters of decaying flesh marred the limb, some gaping holes as large as quarters, they patterned the limb like a macabre art piece.
Head snapping to the side, I quickly looked away from my hands and arms. As my vision swept from the normal scene into the altered sight the cabinets and walls transformed. In the edge of my vision, they were aged, wallpaper curling into a soaked yellow, spackles of black mold staining its surface.
What is this? I wondered, still struggling to comprehend what my eyes were showing me, each of them showing a different version of the same image. My neck craned to the side so I could look at the same spot along the wall with my other eye. In an instant, it returned to the plain taupe as soon as it entered the other half of my vision. The cheap replica painting and few family pictures, reformed into something cohesive.
Careful not to glance at the mirror or anything else that might show me my reflection, I rubbed my hand along the forearm that had been spackled with lesions and sores. Underneath my fingers, I felt the dry skin and thin hairs all standing at attention. But no holes, I remarked with a shaky breath. I stepped from the bathroom, with my eyes straight ahead. Itโ€™s in your head, itโ€™s not there โ€“ Iโ€™m fine. The thought brought a measure of comfort, like the knowledge that Iโ€™d been imagining everything would leave my physical form intact. That was until I realized that viewing the world through a glass of atrophy and death was still far from normal.
Can I just cover it? The thought was so simple and would be an easy solution to my problem. Suddenly brimming with hopeful vigor, I shut my right eye, the one that had been so abruptly afflicted with the visions of decomposition.
Confusion battered at my mind when my sight remained unaltered. It was odd. I felt the side of my face scrunch, my eyelid closing over the orb, yet my view of the withering wall was unaltered. Cupping my hand to cover the eye, it didnโ€™t block the twisted sight either. Investigating the other eye, I was quick to find that it could still be closed as normal, but all that did was limit my field of view while plunging the remainder of my vision in a gut-wrenching hellscape.
I grunted quietly at the new oddity, unsettled for what came next.
For six days, I shut myself out from the world. I hid. I got used to walking corpses handing me pizza, and me handing them money that had long since shriveled and faded into blank notes, yet they always accepted it with a smile. Have you ever witnessed a half-mummified body smile? Witnessed the lesions about his face twist and curl along bloated cheek bones, or the black stained teeth that hung at an angle loosely in his mouth by a stubborn corner. I of course could still see the man through my other eye, the image oscillating between decomposition and the youthful vigor of a young man trying to make a few bucks on the side by dropping off pizzas.
Each day I couldnโ€™t stomach more than a few bites. The concept of eating was difficult when from the corner of my vision I constantly saw rotting food. Food Iโ€™d just ordered fresh that was shrunken and shriveled, taken over by carpets of mold black and green. The toppings turned from their vibrant colours of red and green to stomach churning shades of black and grey. Even if I looked to the ceiling to avoid glancing at my food, I was then treated to stained plaster, littered with holes that revealed the deteriorating wood behind it. If I could manage a few bites, it tasted like the pizza Iโ€™d known and loved before. But I couldnโ€™t purge the images of the rotten meal from my mind, the thought was always there to shut down any thoughts of a meal.
It wasnโ€™t just the lack of nutrients either, being unable to shut one of my eyes made sleep near impossible. Even with curtains drawn and the lights turned off, the pitch black surrounding was insufficient. Something about my brain knew that my eye was open, and refused to offer anything resembling acceptable sleep. After being awake for three days, I did eventually sleep โ€“ it wasnโ€™t for very long. Three hours if I recall correctly, jolting awake immediately after my brain caught up to what it believed was the still open eye. The days after were profoundly lethargic, doing anything felt like it took hours, each moment of it like wading through a muddy bog. As well, the biological need for my brain to shut down every few hours left me nodding off constantly, only to wake a few minutes later.
I felt myself at my limit, my mind stretched to the absolute edge of what it could handle. How many more days can I go before a psychotic break? Until a stroke finally takes me? From my seat at the kitchen table, I glance to the counter, eyeing the arrangement of cleavers and blades with a quiet alluring. Quickly, my head shook. Not yet.
โ€œWould you like my help?โ€
I jolted up from my chair. Snapping to attention with a sudden surge of energy. The quick movement dizzied my vision, pulling me to the side as I wobbled slightly. After recovering my wavy vision, my neck snapped to both sides for a quick examination of the small room. It was empty. โ€œHello?โ€
โ€œWould you like my help?โ€
It was like the voice was in my head, echoing in both ears, seeming everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. I couldnโ€™t tell if it was a man or woman, a perfectly balanced timber that betrayed no emotion, neither malicious nor benevolent โ€“ it was simply there.
โ€œWhat are you?โ€
Pausing for a long bout of silence, the voice held its answer, before finally responding with the same question. โ€œWould you like my help?โ€
My mouth opened, but I nearly bit my tongue with how quickly my jaw shut. Shaking my head violently, I rubbed my arms vigorously, hoping it would quell the hairs that had risen along each of them. I knew the truth. It doesnโ€™t help. It was the voice that made my vision like this. The piercing pain is also thanks to the voiceโ€™s โ€˜helpโ€™. But, I couldnโ€™t deny that the thought of a full nightโ€™s sleep, of a meal that I didnโ€™t immediately evacuate afterwards was incredibly appealing.
Had I been more rested, had I not been so exhausted and desperate, I might have possessed the fortitude to turn down the proposition. However, I was not, and I did not. โ€œYes,โ€ I croaked in a voice that was dried to the limit of what my body could handle. Like the food, water had a similar effect on my brain, taking on the look of liquified sewage, like pond scum with a wisp of foam atop it.
Almost immediately, I felt a pinch behind my eye. It forced a wince from me as I withstood the discomfort, only for it to dissolve a moment later. My vision had returned, in my kitchen I saw my cabinets and stove top, the table I was sitting at and the half-eaten slice of pizza from last night. I lunged for the twisted remains of the meat supreme, wolfing it down in two ambitious bites. Stumbling to the sink, I cupped my hands beneath the open faucet, frantically funneling warm tap water into my stomach.
I felt like a man lost in the desert, stumbling into an oasis after days of exhaustion. Ignoring the protestations of my stomach, I jumped to the fridge where Iโ€™d stored the rest of the leftovers. Ripping contents from the shelves, they were scattered onto the table in a chaotic feast that I couldnโ€™t wait to dive into.
That was when I heard a sound. It was quiet like the voice had been, simultaneously all around me and nowhere at the same time. Iโ€™d heard it for the briefest of instances, like a word half caught at the end of it being spoken somewhere in the distance. Struggling to place it, the noise sang out again. The quiet screech of metal is what I heard, like a knife being dragged against steel somewhere in the distance, as if it was the faint echoes of someone sharpening a knife. Or a rusted pair of scissors opening.
It screeched once more, this time louder and closer, with the unmistakable click of shears closing. Instantly, the vision in my recovered eye blurred, as if they suddenly needed glasses. Stumbling backwards in surprise, I was mostly amazed to not be feeling any discomfort besides the few squeals of metal Iโ€™d heard in my ear. Once more the metal wailed, and this time the vision in my blurred eye shifted. The obfuscated items of green and red dulled, its hues becoming barely legible, closer to grey than their original colours.
My breath skipped, then drew short inhales quickly through my nose. Between my rapidly drawn breaths, my ears picked up the quiet screech once more. I froze, immediately clenching every muscle I could while even my lungs paused.
One second.
Nothing. Whatever was doing this to me was relishing in the fear that was starting to scratch at my mind.
Then the snip. I flinched at the subtle pinch, and the darkness that immediately fell on the side of my vision. It wasnโ€™t like an eye was closed, where my field of view should have become narrower. There was only darkness. A dribble of moisture trickled down my cheek, not tears but something else. Raising cautious fingers, they poked towards the wetness that continued to flow down to my chin, quickly returning with tips dyed a crimson red.
A part of me was terrified, too terrified to stumble to the mirror and see what the voice had done to me. But the much louder part of my mind demanded sleep, so I curled up into a ball on the floor, grateful I could finally close my eyes. Tomorrowโ€™s problem will be dealt with tomorrow.
The next morning I woke with a spasm coursing through my limbs, like Iโ€™d been jolted awake by a bolt of lightning. A stabbing pain raced down the back of my neck, creeping into my spine with its barbed wire touch. Along the side of my head was a different pain, this one dull and thumping to the steady beat of my heart. My arms and legs felt sore, with a sensation of pins and needle gripping the one arm that I seemed to have slept on.
My mind wandered while I struggled to my feet, trying to recall the faint lickings of the terrible dream that Iโ€™d suffered last night. But as my eyes drifted to the wall, and the black void covering half of my vision became more apparent, I remembered. It wasnโ€™t a dream at all.
Wobbling legs carried me to the bathroom. Both hands gripping the sinks edge, I couldnโ€™t look. Fear scratched at the back of my mind, I knew the truth, I didnโ€™t need a reflection to confirm it. It was only after I felt my knuckles whitening from the pressure for several long seconds that I pushed through the heavy fog, gathering the will to look at the reflective pane across me.
Where there should have been my eye was a crater. With its true depth hidden by the shadow of my skull, I could only imagine how deep the cavern in my face went, the parts I could see were lined with the near black crimson of dried blood. Beneath the hollowed socket were also thin streams of dried blood, forming narrow paths towards my chin like pain filled tears. I raised a trembling hand to my eye, like Iโ€™d done before, but this time to see if what I was seeing was in fact real. I watched in the mirror while tremors rocked my extended finger, watched the finger descend into the crater that was the eye socket. As my hand flinched, part of a fingertip rubbed against the moist flesh that lined the inside of my socket. I felt no pain in my face, but the rest of me felt like Iโ€™d just been punched in the gut. My stomach immediately flipped and I suddenly had to contend with the urge to empty my stomach into the sink.
My breath was shaky, shuddering air that I tried to control before it got away from me. But I felt myself losing the battle, each breath harder to draw than the last. In, and out. My feeble commands were having little effect, the dread becoming stronger as I knew what would come next. Like a hunter in the night, one second I felt fine, the next second, a dryness at the edge of my remaining eye. It twitched slightly, a tremor in the nerves that could have come from anything. I couldnโ€™t yet tell if it was a lack of moisture in the air or something more.
Then my eye started to sting, and I realized Iโ€™d been holding it open for a few seconds straight. Fear demanded it be held ajar, unsure if it was a natural discomfort or the beginnings of the next round of torture.
Only holding it open for a few seconds longer, I eventually blinked. Breath held, while my lungs froze. Still unsure if I conjured the new itch, I tested the feeling in my eye. Is it gone? I wondered when I couldnโ€™t feel anything more than the slight stinging along its edges. Chest finally collapsing, I drew long breaths with shut eyes. With each shuddering breath, I analyzed the sensations that coursed through the nerve endings along my face. Iโ€™m fine, I promised myself.
Then the urge to rub at my eye became stronger, forcing twitches all along the side of my face, even down to my jaw. Donโ€™t. Instead I clenched my hands while my mind drifted to something else that might distract me, like the stale air flowing in and out of my nose, the rattle of the furnace creeping through the vents.
I didnโ€™t even realize what I was doing until it was done, the back of my hand pressing into my eye socket and slowly wiping across it. Dry skin from the back of my hand was wetted, the cracks along my skin filled with the moisture my eye had been producing. More tears joined it as I realized with a jolt what Iโ€™d done.
โ€œWait,โ€ I whispered in a shuddered breath.
It didnโ€™t wait. Like a needle, a stabbing pain pierced the side of my eye, feeling like it punctured through to the other side too. A howl of pain escaped my lips, echoing in the acoustics of my narrow bathroom. Legs immediately giving way, I fell to the floor, already half curling into a ball atop the small shag carpet Iโ€™d laid by the sink. Palm pressing against the eye, I let my vision go black while stars of white spackled my vision. Short hissing breaths filled the room as I grappled with the return of the violent pain. Even as it felt like the stake plunging through my eye was twisted, as the nerves and sinew wrapped around each other into an unimaginable squeezing โ€“ I fought it.
I donโ€™t know where the strength had come from, the sudden urge to resist became everything that I set my mind towards. Grinding my teeth together, my waning strength was being battered, it had been seconds and already my will was on the precipice of collapsing all together.
Then an image fluttered into view. It stole my breath, air freezing as shock gripped my system. My stolen eye was still gone, the right side of my face covered with inky nothingness. The remaining one that had been covered by my hand, abruptly shifted into a sideway view of my floor. I saw my bathroom tiles, chipped and faded; the carpet, patchy and molded; the walls, chipped of its paint, made pale by years of sunlight, and stained from years of neglect. What I saw was not my bathroom, not the bathroom Iโ€™d been in when I collapsed to the floor.
Like a sadistic poem, the itching, pain, and macabre vision assaulted me all at once. It was like it knew that my will was brittle, that my desire to resist was hanging onto the edge of the cliff by only my finger tips.
Then something shifted in my mind, a final surge of resistance. A spiteful rebellion gripped my thoughts, a rage that flared up abruptly with the surging of a wildfire as it tore through a forest of dried kindling. I wished to confront the source of my torment, to grip it by the neck and throttle it into submission. As I tapped into this new reservoir of strength, my hands balled into fists. Where the fuck is it? I demanded in my mind. As if Iโ€™d summoned it myself, the voice spoke. โ€œWould yoโ€“โ€
โ€œFuck you!โ€
โ€œWould you liโ€“โ€
โ€œNo!โ€ I screamed my throat raw.
โ€œWould you like my help?โ€
โ€œI would like you to leave me. Iโ€™m never going to ask for your help.โ€
For a few long seconds, the voice didnโ€™t respond. It left me with the unbearable itch that no amount of rubbing could satisfy, the sadistic agony that I was powerless to quell, and the knowledge that my vision had been plunged back into the unescapable hellscape - but at least it was quiet.
Until it wasnโ€™t.
โ€œWould you like my help?!โ€ It suddenly screamed in my ear. I flinched in surprise, it was the first time that the cool dispassion of the voice was broken. โ€œWould you like my help?!โ€ It repeated a fraction of a moment later. โ€œWould you like my help?!โ€ Shouting over and over, the voice didnโ€™t pause to breathe, repeating the words as soon it had finished the furious request. As the vicious battery of the question continued, I tried to fight it, shaking my head violently as if it would loosen the sound and even screaming alongside it to drown out the noise. Nothing worked, the unending noise persisting in my mind.
With each attempt to break my will, the question was starting to sound different. It was changing slightly, with at first minor variance in its tone, and cadence. With each failed attempt, the difference in the request after it became more stark to the point where I was starting to hear different ages, genders, and even accents in the repeating petition.
Cupping both hands over my ears, it did nothing to mute the sound. I screamed to drown out the sound, but the voices were louder. My face grimaced in stalwart resistance. Iโ€™m not going to give in, I assured myself. The voice had taken enough, I would give it no more ground.
How foolish I was. I know this now.
My jaw was impossibly sore from clenching teeth into a twisted grimace; sweat matted down hair against my forehead, and stained my shirt with the proof of my defiance. My will was brittle, a resigned exhaustion filling every one of my muscles. โ€œWould you like my help?!โ€ A woman yelled, she sounded Asian, eerily close to the woman who worked the counter at the small Chinese market I used to shop at. The requests had changed their tone some time ago, I donโ€™t know how long Iโ€™d been curled in the ball before it, and I donโ€™t know how much time has passed since. There was a desperation to her sound, a brief and frantic plea before she was shunted to the side in place of the next voice in the endless queue.
โ€œWould you li-โ€ the next one started.
โ€œFine,โ€ I whispered in a voice so soft I barely heard it myself. The voice heard me though, halting its request now that Iโ€™d finally caved. In the silence I thought I could feel it relishing in my pain, soaking in my surrender and what little fear I could muster for what comes next. And as one second drifted into the next, a part of me started to believe that nothing would happen.
That was when the voices responded. In a booming chorus, ten thousand voices spoke as one, โ€œthank you.โ€ The thundering voices were impossibly loud, simultaneously loud enough to fill a stadium but also bearable as it echoed in my head. They sounded as tired as I felt, and the relief in their tones gave me a measure of calm. I was exhausted, too exhausted to feel anything when the screech of the twin metal blades scratched my mind. Managing to get my feet under me, I rose to stand.
My vision had turned back to normal once more, and I knew it was all but a fact that it would be for the last time. I would have liked to look at a sunset if it was going to be the last thing I saw, but I doubted the cruel voices would allow me that mercy. So I stared at my haggard features in the mirror. The gaping maw that was my right eye no longer bothered me, a grim acceptance finally quelling the shock and revulsion Iโ€™d felt before. In three quick cuts, the view of my face went from blurry to grey, and then finally to black. With a relieved breath, my hand wiped the new trickle from what was my last eye.
That was a week ago. My friends and family thought Iโ€™d lost my mind, that I suffered a mental break and decided to scoop my eyes out with a spoon. At first I was in disbelief, then rage, but after a few days of quiet contemplation Iโ€™d made my peace with it.
Who could blame them if they didnโ€™t believe my story; the voices in my head, the unscratchable itch, the unimaginable stabbing pain, the visions of rot and decay that had become everything I saw. Who could blame them if they didnโ€™t believe me when I told them of the rusted scissors in my mind that snipped at my eye before plucking it from my head. I could barely believe it myself, some nights questioning if maybe they were right.
However, I could blame them for having me locked in an institution. In the solitude of my padded room, I was given time to think, to recall the events and search through what I felt. It was in that sterile room, beneath the quiet buzzing of what I could only assume were fluorescent lights, the truth solidified in my mind.
I am not crazy.
I am not delusional.
โ€œHow did that feel?โ€
โ€œGood, I guess.โ€
โ€œThatโ€™s good, itโ€™s good to talk about these things.โ€
โ€œYouโ€™re the doctor.โ€
โ€œThat I am. Iโ€™m going to leave this with you, use it to record your thoughts or whatever youโ€™d like. Itโ€™s yours, you wonโ€™t have to share the recordings with anyone unless you want to.โ€
My throat is itching, and no amount of water, tea, lozenges, or even salt water gargled has helped. The men and women in flapping coats say that Iโ€™m sick. BUT Iโ€™M NOT SICK. I know it like I know that water is wet.
I tried to make them understand, but they wouldnโ€™t listen. Even as the two larger men wrapped thick hands around both my arms and carried me to the far end of my padded cell. Even as I kicked and screamed and fought furiously. Even as the needle slipped into my skin to deliver the fluid that would โ€˜calm me downโ€™. Even as I begged and pleaded with them to just kill me instead.
My throat is still itching.
I record this now, knowing Iโ€™m dead. Itโ€™s almost impossible to talk, each entry takes most of the day, but I need to record something of myself.
Iโ€™ve accepted that with a desperate trusting in whatever comes next. The only hope that I truly cling to in this life is that someone finds this, and that they believe me.
I can barely swallow. Water, saliva, even air all struggle to slip down my neck. I hear the quiet murmuring of the nurses and doctors when they check on me, they think Iโ€™m doing something to myself.
I try to tell them that itโ€™s back, but they only give me more drugs.
โ€œI donโ€™t understand it,โ€ I heard one of them say.
A nurse came by with my medicine. I asked her to kill me. She said the medicine was a muscle relaxant for my throat.
I told her it wouldnโ€™t work.
I made her listen to my choked sobs as she locked the door behind her.
Why wonโ€™t they just kill me?
I heard a sound. I know I heard this sound. It was like a whisper, gentle as a wisp of smoke, but it was there.
โ€œWould you like me to help?โ€

MEMERs PICTURES MORE PICS Mostly Elastic, Maybe Ergonomic Rigs. Similar to something a credit union thief would use. Made from MIL-W-5664 elastic, AA55301 webbing, TEX 75 thread, and ITW buckles. The outside seams are a little messy due to figuring out the settings on my machine but they will hold. Each holds 4 AR mags, both have been fit tested with PMAGs G2s, Lancers, Hera, and USGI Mags. Asking $55 shipped, 1 available. Mags not included, demonstration only.
Flecktarn pants PICTURES Impulse bought from here and they have just sat in my closet. As far as sizing I donโ€™t know how they do it overseas but I included a picture of the tag. I wear a small short and they seemed to fit okay. They are high-waisted so even the the legs are 27 inches long they fit more like a small short unless you wear pants like my grandpa. They are washed and no smoking or pets in the house. $30 shipped.
Steel target or workout plates PICTURES NOTE: THESE ARE NOT BULLETPROOF PLATES. DO NOT USE THEM AS SUCH. THEY WILL NOT WORK Hereโ€™s some steel pieces I bought a decade ago and never really worked out in them and didnโ€™t shoot them. There are 3 big ones and 4 small ones. Some of them are coated in Flex SealTM. Uncoated ones could use some cleaning or whatever. The big ones are 10โ€x12โ€ and weigh 6 pounds. The small ones are 6โ€ x 7.5โ€ and donโ€™t weigh 6 pounds. They are all 3/16โ€ thick. Asking $250 $245 $240 $235 $230 $225 $220 $215 $210 $205 $200 $195 $190 $185 shipped for everything here. Bundle with other stuff for $10 off.
ALIENGEAR XD9 Holster Pictures GAFS catch and release. Bought it, tried it on once, went into a box. I think itโ€™s made for the XD9 compact but it fit an XD9 just fine. Asking $40 shipped. Bundle with other stuff for $5 off.
NEIGHBORHOOD ITEMS PICTURE These are items I'm selling for a friend, any questions please ask and I can relay. Shipping is included.

What will the slings fit through? Anything that has a 1" slot, whether it's a QD, HK clip, plastic clip, rifle sling mount, paracord, zip ties, etc.
How do I install this through something or to my weapon? Step by step procedure here of what I do.
Do I have any clips or QD mounts? Not at this time, no.
Do I have XXX color? If it's not listed I don't have it at this moment. I have some webbing not yet turned into slings. Also, I have only been using Berry compliant webbing and no I have not found waifu webbing that is Berry compliant. Yet.
What does V2 mean? V2 means a longer tail end; this mod came from buyer feedback.
Is this introductory pricing? Nope! Several months ago I was in the market for an inexpensive sling in a color other than black and also made in the USA. After I made a few for myself I started to produce these as a low-cost, good quality sling for anyone who was in the same boat I was in.
Any other questions or anything let me know! Thanks for looking!

2023.04.01 14:59 Jedicarus1218 Anne Boonchuy Moveset

Anne Boonchuy Moveset
Warning! There will be spoilers for Amphibia present here!
Hello, battlefield of Nintendo! Jedicarus returning in what feels like years! For my first post of 2023, I wanted to do a little April Fools Moveset to celebrate the prank filled day. In context of an April Fools moveset for me, it is a Moveset on a character thatโ€™s not from video games and is instead from another piece of media. For my first April Fools and overall character Moveset, I will be doingโ€ฆ
Anne Boonchuy
Emerging from the wild unknown with the frogs and toads, Anne Savisa Boonchuy (90) thought her life couldnโ€™t get much crazier until she stepped foot into Smash. Though sheโ€™d rather not fight, she will ribbit ribbit jump into the fray with fierce determination and athletic ability at her disposal. Under the right circumstances, you can unleash hidden calamitous power to devastate the battlefield!
Neutral attack
a three hit combo where Anne starts out with a straight kick (3%), then a rear straight punch (2%), and ends it off three lower kicks and a rear high knee (4%, adding up to 9% damage in total)
Side tilt
performs a straightforward kick (like in S1 E18 where she took out the toad conductor). Deals 12% damage
Up tilt
uppercuts with her elbow. Weak, but very combo heavy. Deals 4% damage
Down tilt
does a sweeping kick like the one she used to beat Polly in their little spar in S2 E13. Held leg does 7% while the foot held deals 5.5%
Dash attack
a sliding kick, tripping fighters at small percentages. Deals 7% damage
Forward smash
a strong sword slash similar to Linkโ€™s own forward smash (14% at the hilt, 15% at the blade, 16% at the tip)
throws out a very strong kick that functions as a reflector (16% clean foot, 14% clean leg/mid foot, 12% mid leg/late foot, 10% late leg, 1.8x reflected projectiles)
Up smash
Somehow brings out a massive hammer to swing upward. Lacks range, has slow startup, and Anne will briefly stumble back due to the weight, but it is incredibly strong in both damage and knockback. References the third temple
strongly throws out an uppercut. Still lacks range and has slow startup, but Anne will no longer stumble (both deal 16% damage)
Down smash
A kneeling inward slash in front of herself followed by a kneeling outward slash behind her (17%/16%/14% and 12%/11%/10%)
Punches the ground beneath her, causing calamity energy to spark from her and damage anyone close (15%)
Neutral aerial
a midair elbow drop that will hasten her descent, but only slightly and not as much as her down air. 12% damage when clean and 6% when late
Forward aerial
swings her sword in a downward motion forward. 8% damage
Back aerial
turns around to do an upward slash behind herself. 9% damage
Up aerial
a bicycle kick. 7% damage
Down aerial
will dive straight down with a jumping kick (14% on clean foot while 12% on clean leg/late)
a diving punch (16% on clean hand while 14% on clean arm/late)
grapples the fighter in a clinch
punches them in the side. Deals 1.6% damage
Forward throw
sends the fighter back with a headbutt. Deals 9.1% damage.
Back throw
briefly grabs the fighterโ€™s leg and then throws them aside (9%)
Anne will just straight pick them up and throw them behind her (11.835% damage)
Up throw
despite being a โ€œstring beanโ€, she uses her athleticism to toss the fighter upward. Deals 8% damage when normal, 11.3% damage when calamity form
Down throw
grabs them by the neck to slam them down. During her up and down throws, her eyes glow blue, implying that she is using some of her calamity energy to perform these moves. Deals 8.9% damage when normal, 12.2% when calamity form
Floor attack (front and back)
kicks behind her and then punches as she gets up in a dance pose similar to her team up attack with Sasha. Deals 8.6% damage
Floor attack (trip)
rather unorthodoxly, she uses her tennis racket to trip fighters near her before getting up. Even sheโ€™s surprised that this actually worked and deals 5.5% damage
Edge attack
while getting up, she swings her sword upward in a disarming motion rather than a full on attack. References S1 E18. Deals 9% damage
Additional factors
Wall Jump?
Yes (Both)
Wall Cling?
Yes (Calamity Form)
No (Normal)
How many jumps?
2 (Normal)
3 (Calamity form)
Neutral special
Serves up!
Anne will get out her tennis racket to swing a serve shot that functions as a reflector. Is very weak as a straight attack, but it functions similar to Marioโ€™s cape. Deals 8.2% damage and reflected projectiles have 1.6x the power
Turquoise trajectile
Anne will throw her sword and then call it back to her after reaching a certain distance. Deals 10% damage when close, 8% damage when far, 11.6% damage when clean smash throw, 9.1% damage when far smash throw, 4% damage when returning to Anne
Side special
Bold Dash
Anne runs forward with an upward sword strike, then an overhead one, and ends the combo with a thrust forward. References True Colors and both her side and neutral specials have her eyes briefly glow blue. Upward strike and overhead strike both deal 2.85% and the thrust deals 4.75%.
Azure assault
Anne immediately dashes forward to deliver a calamity power enhanced punch that sends anyone hit by it upward. References S3 E1 and deals 10% damage.
Up special
Drag-Anne fly
Rides a human sized dragonfly by its legs and hangs on for dear life until the dragonfly is hit and sheโ€™s left helpless, clings onto a ledge, or lets go via the B button.
Lapis Leap
Anne simply charges straight up, damaging anyone in her path. If the B button is pressed again, she will charge into the nearest opponent. This charge is almost a guaranteed shield break, but if she misses, sheโ€™s left vulnerable and the combination of two portions of calamity energy being burned out to use it (one for the jump and one for the charge) makes it the most expensive special move. The leaping charge deals 11% damage while the second charge deals 20% damage
Down special
Anneโ€™s Power
Throughout the fight, Anne will have an empty meter with the blue calamity gem depowered that slowly fills up as she takes damage. When itโ€™s filled up, the gem regains its blue hue and you can tap into Anneโ€™s Calamity powers, granting Anne immense strength and a notable speed boost.
When the B button is pressed again, she will say โ€œEnough!โ€ and create a short ranged blast that pushes any fighters away from her. Using any of her specials will deplete a small portion of her calamity meter and when it runs out, Anne will be significantly weakened for 45 seconds. The blast deals 4% damage, but makes up for it in sheer knockback, albeit weaker than Cloudโ€™s Finishing touch
Final smash
One Last Hurrah
Anne will tap into the full power of her blue calamity Gem to transform into her outfit from the Hardest Thing with calamity energy sparking from her. If it hits anyone, Anne flies straight up into outer space to summon a giant energy tennis racket to serve an equally huge tennis ball that splits into multiple Domino missiles that explode onto the smashers and the word โ€œACE!โ€ appears when the explosions clear up. Deals 58% damage.
Anne is transported into the battlefield through calamity energy before she shortly gets up after her eyes briefly scan her surroundings.
Boxing ring title
The blue heart of calamity
Idle Animations
Attempts to get leaves out of her hair
Briefly has her fists on her hips with a smile and cocked up eyebrow

Will begin to slightly hover a few feet off the ground before descending
Cross her arms briefly
Up taunt
She dabs, something she has done a few times in the seriesโ€ฆ yes, it is cringe, but sheโ€™s 13. So of course, sheโ€™s gonna be a little cringy.
Side taunt
Anne strikes a pose and then gestures the opponents to bring the fight to her.
Down taunt
does a segment of the Plantar hunting dance. No, you canโ€™t hypnotize and disorient fighters with this.
Victory animations
Left: Anne is shown sitting beside Sprig with the two of them reading
Up: suddenly lands in her calamity empowered state before returning back to normal and smiling. References the season 3 intro.
Right: Anne cheers โ€œWoo!โ€ with her arms stretched out similar to one of her renders and when she beat the Mudmen
Music: Anneโ€™s theme (Amphibiaโ€™s outro. Plays continuously)
Costume 1
Costume 2
default (Season 3)
Costume 3
Anneโ€™s shirt remains a gray color, but it is much darker and the skirt gains a similar color. Her shoe and chest armor become red, her shirt collar becomes black, her socks become light gray, the trim/emblem on her armor turns white, and her hair becomes blonde. References Sasha Waybright in season 2 and her calamity energy even turns pink.
Costume 4
Anneโ€™s shirt becomes brown with the sleeves becoming light gray and the flame emblem turning pink, her light blue Jean shorts become green, her jacket becomes faded blue, socks become a lighter green, and her sneakers become gray. Hair becomes black. References Marcy Wu and Calamity Energy becomes green).
Costume 5
Anneโ€™s shirt becomes a light blue, skirt becomes light brown, her shoes become black, the shirt collar becomes teal, armor becomes gray and the trim/emblem becomes a darker blue. Hair becomes blue and Anne even gains freckles. References Terri and calamity energy becomes white.
Costume 6
Anneโ€™s shirt becomes light green while the sleeves become golden and flame emblem turning black with her shorts, the jacket becomes a darker forest green, socks become pink, and her sneakers become light gray with dark blue stripes. Hair becomes orange. References Sprig and calamity energy becomes gold/yellow.
Costume 7
Anneโ€™s shirt becomes black, the skirt becomes red, her shoe and armor become a dark purple, shoes become a light gray, and the trim/emblem become orange with the emblem being replaced with an eye. Anneโ€™s hair also becomes black. References Darcy and calamity energy becomes orange.
Costume 8
Anneโ€™s shirt becomes yellow with her sleeves becoming yellowish white and flame emblem becoming a tyrannosaurus skull, her shorts become brown, the shoes become darker shades of purple and gray, and the jacket becomes black. Her hair becomes black and gains red glasses. References Dr. Jan and calamity energy becomes gray.
The main setting of Amphibia season 1, Wartwood is often slow to accept, and even slower to respect. Something that is sort of the way to describe Wartwood: slow. Sure, you can slightly bounce off the tarp of the Grub & Go to gain a small jump boost and thereโ€™s the statue of Wartwoodโ€™s previous mayor in the center of what the fighters are allowed to brawl in, but Wartwood is pretty calm compared to the usual hijinks that happenโ€ฆ though that might be because you are the hijinxs going on in Wartwood.

Conclusion and overall overview
And that is the full moveset for what I think Anne Boonchuy in Smash Bros could potentially look like! Before I end this off with some questions, letโ€™s go over an overview of Anneโ€™s overall toolkit!
A Strong String bean
In spite of her small weight, Anne Boonchuy still hits like a truck with certain moves and combo setups, especially when sheโ€™s in her calamity form.
Hop โ€˜til you drop
Anne has plenty of mobility options to go with from being able to wall jump and overall having pretty high jump height. It also helps that most of her moves also assist in her overall momentum and agility.
The Power of the Box
Anneโ€™s calamity form in its entirety brings a lot of physical power that Anne can use to quickly end brawls whenever theyโ€™re used right, both in attack timing and situations.
โ€ฆ Is still a string bean
Though Anne is usually fine after slapstick in Amphibia, Anneโ€™s agility and power comes at the cost of having less durability and being even more prone to slapstick than she already was.
Not Marcy level klutzy, but could react faster
It is true that Anne has plenty of agility-based options and can get out of some really sticky situations, her actual movement speed outside of calamity form is only slightly above average and some of her attacks are likewise affected by this.
A powerful price
Though Calamity Anne is strong and fast, her new attacks are easily telegraphed and can leave her for an easy punish if they miss should you react fast enough. Add in that her calamity meter doesnโ€™t charge very quickly to prevent over reliance as well as her being significantly weakened for a long time and you have a gimmick thatโ€™s awesome, but requires to time to fully master.
End of Moveset
So what do you guys think? Anything you would change or would you keep it the same? Please tell me in the comments below! Of course, I will be doing actual movesets and not just April Fools ones of non video game characters that may or may not be annual releases. But it is also a limited time series since I have planned SIXTY-NINE official additional slots and I donโ€™t want to go further than that because itโ€™s more than enough.
Anyways, Happy April Fools, everyone, And Iโ€™ll see you guys next game! Peace โœŒ๐Ÿป!

2023.04.01 14:20 Burritotron [WTS/WTT] Kizer Vatt Lind Mini Bounty Hunter, Philippe Jourget P'Ti, Case, Jeff Pearce

I want to move these along, and I think prices reflect that. Open to trades, specifically a Norseman or custom slipjoints. All knives ship USPS Priority insured. PPFF, CONUS only.
Kizer Vatt Lind Mini Bounty Hunter: 2nd owner, 1st owner did not use, I've carried it around the house and opened some boxes. N690 blade never sharpened, never disassembled. Nice knife, great size, opens easily using the flipper or front flipper tabs. SV $50
Philippe Jourget P'Ti Moku-Ti: At least the third owner, I have not carried or cut with this. Scales fragged and blade acid etched by AR Knifeworks by a previous owner, all very nicely done. Mokuti clip and backspacer. Centering and lockup are good, action is smooth. This thing is extremely light and a great size if you're looking for something a little on the smaller side. I've been trying to sell this for months with no bites, so we're going to get aggressive: SV $650 TV $800
Case Medium Stockman: This one is a user due to the blade rub on all blades. Grey bone covers, Tru-Sharp stainless blades. Bought new, carried and cut some, but just paper, opening boxes, that kind of thing, and never sharpened. A little bit of blade rub on all three blades, normal with this pattern. Box included. SV $45
Case Slimline Trapper: Cayenne bone covers, Tru-Sharp stainless blade. Bought new, very light carry and use, never sharpened. Box included. SV $55
Case Trapper: Cayenne bone covers, Tru-Sharp stainless blades. Bought new, might have cut paper to test but never carried that I recall, and never sharpened. Box included. SV $55
Bundle the Cases for $140.
Jeff Pearce Shadow Pattern Slimline Trapper: CPM154 blade with black jigged paper micarta scales and red liners. 3" blade, 6.9" overall. See his work on IG j.pearce.knives. Very stiff pull, maybe an 8. Half stop, but it's not as springy as I'd like in half stop. Blade favors one side as shown. There is some evidence of rubbing on the blade, and I tried to capture it in the pics. Carried a few times and some light cutting, but never sharpened. Comes with zippered taco. SV $275 TV $300

Bloons TD 6 - Update Notes! Version 36.0

Bloons TD 6 v36.0 - Update Notes!

Hello and welcome! We decided to release the balance notes a little ahead of time! Enjoy!
Update video:

Key New Features

  • New Tower - Mr Beast Handler
    • chomp, rawr, kakaw!
    • So much to say about this tower, but mainly we so hope you enjoy it!
    • The first never before seen tower to join the BTD universe since the Druid and Alchemist at launch almost 5 years ago.
    • This tower plays and gains power in a completely unique way, and there are intentional tradeoffs along the way - you need to choose the right time to Merge beasts or just like any other tower whether more separate and lower-power beasts are situationally better.
    • This is a Support class tower, so seeing how it works with your favorite builds is part of the fun.
    • BTW making cool-looking giant beasts pop Bloons has been pretty awesome, even though it took us twice as long as expected. Thanks for your patience!!!
  • Quests! Quests are self-contained challenges with their own special rules, difficulty, and unlock requirements. Patch joins the main menu and acts as the entry point for the Quest system. The intent along with fun gameplay is to sprinkle more story into the game, teaching certain strategies, introducing game modes, trying out items before unlocking them, as well as being a place for us to experiment with new mechanics. Did someone say special missions? No we didnโ€™t say that for 36, but definitely downstream.
  • With the launch of the Quests system we have 3 beginner Quests aimed towards newer players. In future updates we will expand this with mid-rank, high rank, and expert level Quests that will introduce higher level ideas and challenges.
    • Beast Handler Quest - The Dartling Gunner unlocks via a basic pop target objective, but this was a simple system and had nothing to do with the tower itself. To unlock the Beast Handler with this update, rank 40+ players will take on a short adventure using the lower tiers of this tower.
    • Race Introduction - When Races unlock at rank 20, they can be quite an intimidating system to start learning. Now rank 20+ players will be able to access their first persistent race, available from the Quest menu. This is a short introduction aimed at new players, or players new to Races. More challenging Race Quests will be added in the future.
    • Quincyโ€™s Trial - All players start the game with Quincy available, and now from the Quest menu or from Quincy's profile on the Hero menu players will be able to engage in a short mission showcasing his strengths, like missing pink bloons

New Awesome

  • New Map - Polyphemus
    • No, Lotus Island was never going to be the only stop on that epic journey
    • Your next adventure is Polyphemus, whose one great eye closes over any towers in its site. Never fear, unlike Monkdyseus, your crew is not dead, just out of play until you can open the eye again.
    • Another one made with challenges in mind, and yes, weโ€™ll look for other uses for this mechanic in the future.
  • New Achievements - a simple intro to quests with: Side Quest, World League Training
  • New Trophy Store Items
    • Monkeys: Tack Shooter Hedgehog pet, Village - Philippines Flag, Village - Trans Flag
    • Bloons: Lobster BFB skin, true camo DDT skin, suspicious visor
    • Game & UI: Avatar73 - Necromancer, Avatar74 - Darts, Avatar75 - Gravelord Lych, Avatar76 - Sun Hat Adora
  • Competition Winning items
    • Banner29 - community banner by ratcrunch - Avatar of Darkness
  • Limited Time only
    • Alchemist Flower splash projectiles, Banner29 - Blossom Temple
  • New CT Team Store items
    • Base Props: Dino Spring Egg, Cake Baker Monkey
    • Icons: Overclocked Icon, Choc Bunny icon
    • Frames: Bloon From The Dead frame, Flower Burst frame

Game Changes / Additions

  • Reworked towers with secondary attack target options to use a smaller icon for this target that is no longer linked to the target priority display. We apologize to the players who were comfortable with the โ€œbuttonizedโ€ target priorities, but many players were confused by that implementation, so weโ€™re hoping this is a better, clearer UI for all.
  • Added option to enter Races with Monkey Money even if Race Passes are owned

Bug Fixes & General Changes

Boomerang Monkey
  • 5xx Glaive Lord and Glaive Dominus Rotating Glaives now visually change direction with the change hand targeting
Banana Farm
  • can now be purchased in Deflation and CHIMPS (they still will not make money)
  • gains a pop count display and pop count now properly appears on Named Monkey records
  • 420, 520, 024, and 025 Farm; fixed bug where the More Valuable Bananas MK was not being used when buffed by a xx4 Village
  • x3x Monkey Bank and above can withdraw using the 'Change Targeting' hotkey and withdraw all using the 'Reverse Change Targeting' hotkey
  • x4x IMF Loan and above can deposit using the 'Monkey Special' hotkey
  • fixed bug where blown back bloons were not filling up Wall of Trees
  • pop count now properly appears on Named Monkey records

Balance Changes

Boomerang Monkey
Even with the previous buffs, MOAR Glaives performs poorly in comparison to other cleanup towers and Glaive Lord still struggles against fortified ceramics in the late game.
  • 4xx MOAR Glaives applies a weaker shred status to the first target hit that deals 3 moab damage every 1s for 15s
  • 402 MOAR Glaives gains bonus damage to MOABs +1
  • 5xx Glaive Lord main attack gains bonus to fortified +2
  • 5xx Glaive Lord Rotating Glaives bonus to fortified increased 2 > 4
  • 5xx Glaive Lord Rotating Glaives pierce increased 80 > 160
Ice Monkey
What was once a bug is back as a feature to help its reliability as a decamo option.
  • 4xx Embrittlement gains a separate larger decamo radius (similar to Signal Flare) and can decamo whites and zebras
Glue Gunner
Despite being purported as a ceramic counter, Bloon Liquefier is terrible at dealing with large groups even with the middle crosspath and as such makes for a poor saveup to The Bloon Solver. Continuing from the changes from last update, we are giving it Relentless Glue's old behavior to help it better deal with crowds, and providing more crosspath interactions for the blobs as promised. Glue Strike and Storm are also getting some reworks to make bottom crosspath more usable.
  • 4xx Bloon Liquefier upon destroying a Bloon now drops blobs of glue on the track that deal 1 pierce of 0 damage and applies the glue status to whatever hits it
  • 5xx The Bloon Solver glue blobs damage 20 > 15
  • 5xx The Bloon Solver glue blobs lifetime 5s > 7.5s
  • 510 The Bloon Solver glue blobs pierce 1 > 2
  • 520 The Bloon Solver glue blobs pierce 1 > 5
  • 501 The Bloon Solver glue blobs lifetime 5s > 10s
  • x4x Glue Strike ability can now hit MOAB-class bloons without Corrosive Glue
  • x4x Glue Strike ability no longer weakens lead bloons
  • x4x Glue Strike ability bonus damage taken while glued reduced 2 > 1
  • 240 Glue Strike ability remains able to weaken lead bloons
  • 240 Glue Strike ability bonus damage taken while glued remains at 2
Monkey Buccaneer
Giving more utility to the underutilized crosspaths.
  • 402 Aircraft Carrier aircraft missiles damage type Explosive > Normal
  • 502 Carrier Flagship buff grants camo detection and applies to towers placed on its decks
  • 203 Merchantman end of round income 200 > 240
  • 204 Favored Trades sellback buff +10% -> +12%
  • 204 Favored Trades end of round income 500 > 600
  • 205 Trade Empire buff to xx3 limit increased 20 > 24
  • 205 Trade Empire end of round income 800 > 960
Monkey Ace
Toning back our last change to Neva-Miss, because it seems to have fallen off too much.
  • xx3 Neva-Miss Targeting price reduced from $2800 > $2400
Heli Pilot
Heli's MOAB Shove doesn't scale with higher tiers so additions have been made to the mini Comanches.
  • xx4 Comanche Defense minis gain a weaker MOAB Shove effect (50% compared to main heli)
  • xx5 Comanche Defense minis gain the full MOAB Shove effect
Mortar Monkey
Adapted from a change in Battles 2. We'll see how well it works locked to a upgrade instead of being a base tower feature. Plus giving Burny Stuff more love to make a more competitive crosspath choice for middle path.
  • xx1 Increased Accuracy adds 'Follow Touch' targeting option (hotkey: Shift + Tab)
  • 032 Heavy Shells allows burn from this tower to tic three times as fast (also expires three times as fast) and the burn inherits the bonus damages of the main attack
Wizard Monkey
Currently you need to give and remove an external range buff to reset zombie targeting. Automatic targeting for Wall of Fire refers to its old behavior prior to v33.0, where it would follow the tower's targeting priority if bloons were in range. We are also giving Arcane Blast more crosspath interactions and fixing Archmage's Dragon's Breath's range.
  • 5xx Archmage Dragon's Breath attack now matches tower's range
  • 120 Wall of Fire can target the outside of the tower's range to revert targeting back to automatic
  • x3x Dragon's Breath price increased $3000 > $3300
  • 230 Dragon's Breath flame attack ceram bonus increased 1 > 2
  • 104 Necromancer can target the zombie spawn point outside of the tower's range to revert targeting back to automatic
  • 204 Necromancer zombie gains bonus to ceramic +1
Acid Pools have long been unchanged and underpowered, so these changes should give it some utility while not being a Caltrops clone. AMD currently has negative synergy with Lead to Gold's primary function, so this should solve that. The BMA change is to offset some of the money lost from the shrink attack.
  • xx2 Acid Pools last +1 round, main potion attack drops Acid Pools on impact unless pierce-capped
  • xx3 Lead to Gold Acid Pools can hit camo
  • 203 Lead to Gold AMD-buffed towers also grant the $50 cash bonus when popping leads
  • 023 Lead to Gold attacking DDTs weakens them (like Glue Strike ability) and generates the $50 cash bonus
  • 204 Rubber to Gold AMD-buffed towers get the income bonus when attacking
  • 024 Rubber to Gold gains +100% income bonus on fortified MOABs
  • xx5 BMA shrink potions transforms targets into leads
Heart of Thunder was previously buffed to scale better with higher tiers, but middle path was overlooked back then.
  • 240 Jungle's Bounty (HoT) bonus damage to MOABs +2
  • 250 Spirit of the Forest (HoT) damage increased 2 > 10
  • 250 Spirit of the Forest (HoT) bonus damage to MOABs +4
Banana Farm
Giving top path reasons to go for bottom crosspath, more consistency with the middle path, and a quality of life change that lazy farmers everywhere will enjoy.
  • x4x IMF Loan and x5x Monkey-nomics ability income will now increase with external buffs
  • xx1 EZ Collect bananas can be autocollected by 041 Druids
  • xx2 Banana Salvage uncollected bananas now explode and leave banana peels that blow back bloons upon expiry. Explosions deal damage equal to their monetary value and have 20 pierce. Banana peels have pierce equal to their monetary value and lifetime equal to that of the generated bananas (money is still collected like before). If autocollected by 042 Druids, the bananas can be harvested for their full monetary value and still explode and leave peels. It also becomes able to take Alchemist buffs.
  • xx5 Monkey Wall Street autocollect range now matches the tower range and can be affected by external range buffs (including Alchemist)
Spike Factory
While Perma-Spike is already a popular and strong option, we felt this change will be a much-appreciated quality of life improvement. To offset this, we are also increasing the prices.
  • xx2 Smart Spikes gains a target selection point which can override the regular targeting options using the 'Monkey Special' hotkey
  • xx5 Perma-Spike price increased $30000 > $33000
Monkey Village
Ever since Monkeyopolis's nerf put it out of the farming meta, there remains little point in making one. This rework should make it more valuable to use again.
  • xx5 Monkeyopolis income generated exactly matches the sacrificed farms and income collection method is based on most invested farm type:
    • top path & base farms: generates crates (current behavior)
    • middle path farms: generates income and interest in a bank balance equal to sacrificed banks' capacities
    • bottom path farms: autocollects income
T4 Farm effects like the Banana Central BRF buff, bank deposits and IMF Loan abilities, and Merchantman buffs do not transfer.
Engineer Monkey
The Pin effect is currently underpowered on Sentry Champion, so these changes should help its case without being overpowering. Cleansing Foam's Sentries can currently decamo, though it is rarely useful because they need external support to even see them in the first place.
  • 502 Sentry Champion sentries can pin ceramics
  • 502 Sentry Champion sentries can pin MOAB-class bloons when exploding
  • 130 Cleansing Foam sentries can see camo
  • Master Builder's Green Sentry Paragon can now be locked
With the rework to secondary attack target options, we can now give Obyn the ability to target all of his items individually. No idea how to meaningfully buff him though.
  • Lv3 Brambles gains a target selection point
  • Lv4 Nature's Ward Totem gains a target selection point
How is this not a thing yet?
  • Lv7 Bloon Trojan now follows Target Priority
I just think it would be neat. I have no idea what the ramifications this would have on the game balance.
  • items unlocked between Lv1 and Lv15 can now receive discounts from xx1 and xx2 Villages
  • all items can now receive discounts from Sun Temples and True Sun Gods.
If you made it all the way to end, thanks for reading! I am not affiliated with NK; this is simply a collection of my ideas for balance changes with a little April Fool's flair. It was also interesting looking back at previous path notes and trying to replicate NK's writing styles.

2023.04.01 13:21 AnderLouis_ Hail and Farewell (George Moore) - Chapter 11

PROMPTS: Poor Edward. Something quite wrong about what went on here...
Today's Reading, via Project Gutenberg:

While Edward revised his play Yeats and I talked of The Shadowy Waters, and the Boers crossed one of our frontiers into Cape Colony or Natalโ€”I have forgotten which; but I remember very well my attitude of mind towards the war, and how I used to walk every day from Tillyra to Ardrahan, a distance of at least two Irish miles, to fetch the newspaper, so anxious was I to read of a victory for our soldiers.
Before starting I would pay Edward a visit in his tower, and after a few words about the play, I would tell him that the way out of our South African difficulties was simpleโ€”the Government should arm the blacks; and this would make Edward growl out that the English Government was beastly enough to do it; and I remember how I used to go away, pleased that I had always the courage of my morality. Other men do what they know to be wrong, and repent, or think they repent; but as it would be impossible for me to do what I believe to be wrong, repentance is for me an idle word; and, thinking that to raise an army of seventy thousand blacks would be a fine trick to play upon the Boers, I often returned through the park full of contempt for my countrymen, my meditations interrupted occasionally by some natural sightโ€”the beauty of the golden bracken through which the path twisted, a crimson beech at the end of it, or the purple beauty of a line of hills over against the rocky plain freckled with the thatched cabins of the peasantry. Nor do I remember more beautiful evenings than these were; and, as the days drew in, the humble hawthorns shaped themselves into lovely silhouettes, and a meaning seemed to gather round the low, mossy wall out of which they grew, until one day the pictorial idea which had hitherto stayed my steps melted away, and I became possessed by a sentimental craving for the country itself. After all, it was my country, and, strangely perturbed, I returned to the castle to ask Edward's opinion regarding the mysterious feeling that had glided suddenly into my heart as I stood looking at the Burran Mountains.
It is difficult for anybody to say why he loves his country, for what is a country but a geographical entity? And I am not sure that Edward was listening very attentively when I told him of a certain pity, at variance with my character, that had seemed to rise out of my heart.
It would be strange if Cathleen ni Houlihan were to get me after all. That is impossible ... only a passing feeling; and I sat looking at him, remembering that the feeling I dreaded had seemed to come out of the landscape and to have descended into my heart. But he was so little interested in what seemed to me transcendental that I refrained from further explanation, concluding that he was thinking of his play, which had gone to Coole yesterday. I was led to think this, for he was sitting at the window as if watching for Yeats. We were expecting our poet.
Here he is. I wonder what he thinks of your revisions?
And to save Edward from humiliation I asked Yeats as soon as he came into the room if he liked the new third act.
No, no; it's entirely impossible. We couldn't have such a play performed. And dropping his cloak from his shoulders, he threw his hair from his brow with a pale hand, and sank into a chair, and seemed to lose himself in a sudden meditation. It was like a scene from a play, with Yeats in the principal part; and, admiring him, I sat thinking of the gloom of Kean, of the fate of the Princes in the Tower, headsmen, and suchlike things, and thinking, too, that Yeats, notwithstanding his hierarchic airs, was not an actual literary infallibility. The revised third act might not be as bad as he seemed to think it. He might be mistaken ... or prejudiced. Yeats's literary integrity is without stain, that I knew. But he might be prejudiced against Edward without knowing it. The success of The Heather Field had stirred up in Edward, till then the most unassuming of men, a certain aggressiveness which, for some time past, I could see had been getting on Yeats's nerves. Nor am I quite sure that myself at that moment would not have liked to humble Edward a little ... only a little. But let us not be drawn from the main current of our resolution, which is entirely literary, by a desire to note every sub-current. Yeats looked very determined, and when I tried to induce him to give way he answered:
We are artists, and cannot be expected to accept a play because other plays as bad, and nearly as bad, have been performed.
Saints, I said, do not accept sins because sins are of common occurrence.
He did not answer, but sat looking into the fire gloomily.
He takes a very determined view of your play, Edward. It may not strike me in the same light. If you will give me the manuscript I'll just run upstairs with it. I can't read it in front of you both.
There was no reason why I should read the first two acts; Edward had not touched them. What he had engaged to rewrite was the last half of the third act, and a few minutes would enable me to see if he had made sufficient alterations for the play to be put forwardโ€”not as a work of artโ€”that is as something that would be acted fifty years hence for the delight of numerous audiences, as proof of the talent that existed in Ireland at the end of the nineteenth centuryโ€”but as a play to which literary people could give their attention without feeling ashamed of themselves afterwards. There was no reason why we should ask for more than that; for the subject of the play was merely one of topical interest, and it is a mistakeโ€”I pointed this out to Yeatsโ€”to be very particular about the literary quality of such a play. All the same it would have to be put right, and this Edward could not do. It was more a matter for a cunning literary hand than for a fellow like Edward with a streak of original genius in him, and very little literary tact.
On these reflections I sat down to read, but the play was so crude, even in its revised form, that I fell to thinking that Yeats's thoughts must have wandered very often from the page. He should have remembered, however, whilst we discussed the play with Edward, that Edward was a human being after all, and not made it apparent that he looked upon the play as something the local schoolmaster might have written, and of all, should have kept looks out of his face which said as plainly as words could: Your soul is inferior, beneath my notice; take it away. He did not even seem to apprehend that Edward was torn between love of self and love of Ireland. Abstract thinking, I said, kills human sympathies, and Yeats is no longer able to appreciate anything but literary values. The man behind the play is ignored ... Yeats can no longer think with his body; it is only his mind that thinks. He is all intellect, if that isn't too cardinal a word. And seeing before me quite a new country of conjecture, one which I had never rambled in, I sat thinking of the cruelty of the monks of the Middle Ages, and the cruelty of the nuns and the monks of the present day. Their thoughts are abstracted from this world, from human lifeโ€”that is why; and Yeats was a sort of monk of literature, an Inquisitor of Journalism who would burn a man for writing that education was progressing by leaps and bounds. Opinions make people cruelโ€”literary as well as theological. Whereas the surgeon, whose thought is always of the flesh, is the kindliest of creatures. It is true that one sometimes hears of surgeons who, in the pursuit of science, willingly undertake operations which they know to be dangerous, and we know that the scientists in the laboratory are indifferent to the sufferings of the animals they vivisect. Even so, Nature thinks like the surgeon who risks an operation in order that he may discover the cause of the disease. The knowledge he gathers from the death of the patient is passed on, and it saves the life of another. But the artist cannot pass on any portion of his art to his pupil; his gift lives in himself and dies with him, and his art comes as much from his heart as from his intellect. The intellect outlives the heart, and the heart of Yeats seemed to me to have died ten years ago; the last of it probably went into the composition of The Countess Cathleen.
Yesterevening, when we wandered about the lake, talking of The Shadowy Waters, trying to free it from the occult sciences that had grown about it, Fomorians beaked and unbeaked, and magic harps and Druid spells, I did not perceive that the difficulties into which the story had wandered could be attributed to a lack of human sympathy. But Yeats's treatment of Edward proved it to me. The life of the artist is always at difficult equipoise; he may fail from lack of human sympathies, or he may yield altogether to them and become a mere philanthropist; and we may well wonder what the choice of the artist would have been if he had to choose between the destruction of Messina and Reggio or of Herculaneum and Pompeii. Were he to choose the ancient ruins in preference to the modern towns, he might give very good reasons for doing so, saying that to prolong the lives of a hundred thousand people for a few years would not be, in his opinion, worth a bronze like the Narcissus. A very specious argument might be maintained in favour of the preservation of the bronze, even at the price of a hundred thousand lives. Perhaps he might let the bronze go, but if all Greek art were added he would hesitate, and when he had let one hundred thousand men and women go to their doom he would probably retire into the mountains to escape from sight of every graven thing. To write a play our human and artistic sympathies must be very evenly balanced, and I remembered that among my suggestions for the reconstruction of The Shadowy Waters, the one that Yeats refused most resolutely was that the woman should refuse to accompany the metaphysical pirate to the ultimate North, but return somewhat diffidently, ashamed of herself, to the sailors who were drinking yellow ale.
Yeats has reflected himself in the pirate, I said. All he cares for is a piece of literature. The man behind it matters nothing to him. But am I not just as wicked as he? Worse, indeed, for Edward is my oldest friend and I do not defend him. Whereupon the manuscript fell from my hand, and I sat for a long time thinking; and then, getting up, I wandered out of my room and hung over the banisters, looking down into the central hall, asking myself what Yeats and Edward were saying to each other, and thinking that their talk must be strained and difficult, thinking too that my duty was to go down to them and bring their bitter interview to an end.
And I resolved to say that I could see no reason why the play should not be acted. But half-way down the stairs my conscience forbade so flagrant a lie. Yeats would not believe me. And what good would it do to allow Edward to bring over actors and actresses for the performance of such a play? It's kinder to tell him the truth. In the middle of the hall I stopped again. But if I tell him the truth the Irish Literary Theatre will come to an end.
Well, Edward, I've read your play ... but the alterations you've made aren't very considerable, and I can't help thinking that the play requires something more done to it.
You've read my play very quickly. Are you sure you've read it?
I've read all the passages that you've altered.
I had only glanced through them, but I could not tell him that a glance was sufficient.
If there were time, you might alter it yourself. You see, the time is shortโ€”only two months; and I watched Edward. For a long time he said nothing, but sat like a man striving with himself, and I pitied him, knowing how much of his life was in his play.
I give you the play, he said, starting to his feet. Do with it as you like; turn it inside out, upside down. I'll make you a present of it!
But, Edward, if you don't wish me to alter your playโ€”
Ireland has always been divided, and I've preached unity. Now I'm going to practise it. I give you the play.
But what do you mean by giving us the play? Yeats said.
Do with it what you like. I'm not going to break up the Irish Literary Theatre. Do with my play what you like, and he rushed away.
I'm afraid, Yeats, his feelings are very much hurt.
And my heart went out to the poor man sitting alone in his tower, brooding over his failure. I expected Yeats to say something sympathetic, but all he said was: We couldn't produce such a play as that. It was perhaps the wisest thing he could say under the circumstances. For what use is there in sentimentalising over the lamb whose throat is going to be cut in the slaughter-house?
The sooner the alterations are made the better.
And I asked Yeats to come over tomorrow.
You see, you'll have to help me with this adaptation, for I know nothing of Ireland.
It is a pleasure to be with him, especially when one meets him for the purpose of literary discussion; he is a real man of letters, with an intelligence as keen as a knife, and a knife was required to cut the knots into which Edward had tied his play, for very few could be loosened. The only fault I found with Yeats in this collaboration was the weariness into which he sank suddenly, saying that after a couple of hours he felt a little faint, and would require half an hour's rest.
We returned to the play after lunch, and continued until nearly seven o'clock, too long a day for Yeats, who was not so strong then as he is now, and Lady Gregory wrote to me, saying that I must be careful not to overwork him, and that it would be well not to let him go more than two hours without foodโ€”a glass of milk, or, better still, a cup of beef-tea in the afternoon, and half an hour after lunch he was to have a glass of sherry and a biscuit. These refreshments were brought up by Gantley, Edward's octogenarian butler, and every time I heard his foot upon the stairs I offered up a little prayer that Edward was away in his tower, for, of course, I realised that the tray would bring home to him in a very real and cruel way the fact that his play was being changed and rewritten under his very roof, and that he was providing sherry and biscuits in order to enable Yeats to strike out, or, worse still, to rewrite his favourite passages. It was very pathetic; and while pitying and admiring Edward for his altruism, I could not help thinking of two children threading a bluebottle. True that the bluebottle's plight is worse than Edward's, for the insect does not know why it is being experimented upon, but Edward knew he was sacrificing himself for his country, and the idea of sacrifice begets a great exaltation of mind, is in fact, a sort of anaesthetic; and sustained by this belief we, Yeats and I, worked on through the day, Yeats tarrying as late as seven o'clock in order to finish a scene, Edward asking him to stay to dinner, a kindness that proved our undoing, for we lacked tact, discussing before Edward the alterations we were going to make. He sat immersed in deep gloom, saying he did not like our adaptation of the first act, and when we told him the alterations we were going to make in the second, he said:
But you surely aren't going to alter that? Why do you do this? Good heavens! I wouldn't advise youโ€”
Yeats looked at him sternly, as a schoolmaster looks at a small boy, and next morning Edward told me that he was going to Dublin, adding that I had better come with him. On my mentioning that I expected Yeats that afternoon, he said that he would write, telling him of his decision, and a note came from Lady Gregory in the course of the afternoon, saying that she was leaving Coole. Would it be convenient to Edward to allow Yeats to stay at Tillyra for a few days by himself? He would like to continue the composition of The Shadowy Waters in Galway.
Lady Gregory's request seemed to me an extraordinary one to make in the present circumstances, and it seemed still more extraordinary that Edward should have granted it, and without a moment's hesitation, as if Yeats's literary arrogance had already dropped out of his memory. Such self-effacement as this was clearly a matter for psychological inquiry, and I turned Edward over in my mind many times before I discovered that his self-effacement should be attributed to patriotism rather than to natural amiability. He believed Yeats to be Ireland's poet, and to refuse to shelter him might rob Ireland of a masterpiece, a responsibility which he did not care to face.
Extraordinary! I said to myself, and as in a vision I saw Ireland as a god demanding human sacrifices, and everybody, or nearly everybody, crying: Take me, Ireland, take me; I am unworthy, but accept me as a burnt-offering. Ever since I have been in the country I have heard people speaking of working for Ireland. But how can one work for Ireland without working for oneself? What do they mean? They do not know themselves, but go on vainly sacrificing all personal achievement, humiliating themselves before Ireland as if the country were a god. A race inveterately religious I suppose it must be! And these sacrifices continue generation after generation. Something in the land itself inspires them. And I began to tremble lest the terrible Cathleen ni Houlihan might overtake me. She had come out of that arid plain, out of the mist, to tempt me, to soothe me into forgetfulness that it is the plain duty of every Irishman to disassociate himself from all memories of Irelandโ€”Ireland being a fatal disease, fatal to Englishmen and doubly fatal to Irishmen. Ireland is in my family. My grand-uncle lay in prison condemned to death for treason; my father wasted his life in the desert of national politics. It is said that the custom of every fell disease is to skip a generation, and up to the present it had seemed that I conformed to the rule. But did I? If I did not, some great calamity awaited me, and I remembered that the middle-aged may not change their point of view. To do so is decadence.

2023.04.01 13:17 Fair_Wrongdoer_310 What is a reasonable salary range for entry-level role in a well-established engineering company?

Basically the title. I want to know what's the range I can negotiate for an entry role in hardware development, embedded systems etc. I don't know the living standards and expenses there. Recent increase in price and rent has made it difficult to trust old internet surveys.
The location is not Paris. Let's assume that the rent is around 600 euros/month for a room in that area.
