Would love some advice on my situation
I lost my dad when i was a teenager. I'm 30 now and all i have is the parent i didnt want to begin with.
I have to start by saving that my mom never wanted kids and she made sure to tell us constantly. Lahat naman ng filipino parents masakit magsalita pero siya tagos na tagos pag magsalita. She would always say she regrets us and how easy it is to just leave us like she left her other kid. When i was 27, she admitted that hindi pala ako ang panganay, may anak siya sa ibang lalake years before na pina-adopt niya. She has since ignored that kid and doesn't even acknowledge her as her child. When she tells me the story, parang feel ko she's proud of the fact that she's emotionless and let that daughter go.
I have never felt loved by her. I was badly spanked, verbally abused and treated harshly by her. She would spank me hard for simple things - konteng ingay lang, super sakit na ng belt. Yung feel ko naghahanap lang siya ng rason para makasakit. She won't attend my sporting events or celebrate my wins. Once, she stole money from my savings kahit walang emergency - trip lang niya. She kicked me out of the house for months. She deprives me of money she has - she shops for the bunso but never for me. I just never feel like she's on my side but for some reason, i still always wanted to make her proud.
I don't know if i love her as much as i fear her. 9 months ago, she just stopped talking to me. One day, we were talking about the luggage i was going to buy her for her birthday tapos the very next day, hindi na niya nireread messages ko, dumaan na yung xmas and new year, wala akong narinig na greeting sa kanya and of course di kami nagkita. Walang away na nangyari, bigla lang siyang hindi makikipagusap. She always does this at least once a year tapos out of nowhere mangangamusta siya tapos back to normal. Since ayaw ko ng gulo, hindi ko binibring up yung ghosting niya. Move on lang. Sa sobrang sanay na ako sa gawain niya, di ko siya napapansin na yearly pala nangyayari. Yung boyfriend ko na yung nagpoint out sakin kase naweweirdohan siya..
And in all these examples i mentioned, I DONT KNOW WHY SHE TREATS ME THE WAY SHE DOES. I dont know why she stole my money, why she stopped talking to me, why she kicked me out etc. Gulat nalang ako na nangyayari yung mga bagay bagay. She never explains her actions and she taught me to fear her enough never to ask such questions kase pag nagtanong ako, "Wala ka bang respecto? Di ko kailangan iexplain sarili ko sayo". I never had a teenage pregnancy, was never on drugs, and I have a good job with a good and stable partner.
As a result, i have severe abandonment and trust issues and of course mommy issues. Feel ko at any time iiwan lang ako ng boyfriend ko na walang explanation. Feel ko my world will just crumble any second now... Feel ko she knows she makes me feel this way but she enjoys it....
Currently, i've decided to go no-contact. She's been ignoring me since Sept 2022 but in March 2023 she messaged me with a photo on Messenger. Di ko binasa and put our chat on Archive. Since then, i haven't spoken to her so she knows what it feels na maghost ng walang rason. It's been the best period of my life. I finally stopped seeking for my mom's love and accepted that i've never had it and i never will.
At the same time, i know hindi to yung solution and while i am happy right now, i know deep in my heart that I need answers in order to heal from the trauma she gives me. Open to advice on how i should handle this relationship moving forward.

Okay. Long story short I’ve graduated with a bachelor’s in CS. I want to be a software engineer and a damn good one at that. Only problem is my coding skill is quite low-average because of how much homework for many other classes I had to do. But, it was all worth it because it was all good information. I have learned the basics and I learned how to learn. Here is the plan. I’m going to apply to 2-3 jobs per day until I find a job. I know this may take 6+ months.
In the meantime, I am reading many books about coding. Starting with code complete. It’ll be done within the month. I also am doing at least one coding challenge a day (aside from my vacations this month) in 3 different languages each time (Python, C++, and Java). I also am working on a Nand2Tetris project.
I don’t have any of my college projects up because they were sloppy work in comparison to what I now know. I want them to be cleaned up with all my new knowledge before they are on GitHub. Long story short. In 3 months I should have tons of challenges done , around 3-5 impressive projects, many books read about programming development, programming languages, Security, and computers in general. Also, I would have applied to 200-300 jobs.
I am posting so anyone can either adopt some of these ideas or help me critique the plan. Best of luck to everyone else looking in the tech field!
P.S. anyone else worried about AI?

Like any other normal person out there, I'm a big fan of animation. This love for animation (and for art in general) has increased tenfold during the whole Across-the-Spideverse showing. As most of you may well know, that film just dropped. It received near-critical acclaim - huge success all around, basically. It featured thousands of art-styles and ideas and techniques from thousands of artists, meshed them all together to form one big, colorful masterpiece.
After its showing, my Twitter timeline brought forth various fan-artists, all hyped up after watching ATS. The algorithm showed me incredible artworks, all ATS-inspired. Folks creating their own "Spidersonas", insanely-drawn and painted fan-art of ATS characters, just... talent after talent all around.
The same phenomena happened during/after the showing of Arcane, a Netflix series based on League of Legends. The show was so good that inspired so many people into making incredible fan-art; people want to improve upon their drawing skills, painting skills, etc.
Honestly, my point is, is that I love art! I love Arcane, and I love Spiderverse as well. (I've yet to watch it btw, only the first one is what I've seen)

My ex bf got evicted earlier this year (when we were still together) and I let him stay with me and only charged him 1/4th of rent so he can save up money and get his own place.
We eventually broke up 5 months later because he was not only making absolutely no progress in getting his own place, but he stopped paying rent altogether or really putting effort into anything. He was failing community colleges classes while I was getting full ride scholarship offers for my masters, he started taking less and less hours at work while I secured a job that was double his salary, he was spending more and more time playing video games while i was scheduling more volunteering time, etc. I checked in constantly while he was living with me to see if he was depressed, if he needed anything, and how I could support but he always told me he was fine.
When we had the conversation and he told me he wanted to end the relationship to focus on getting back on his feet I was extremely supportive. I told him not to worry about owing me the last two months of rent and utilities because I would take care of it so he can one less thing to worry about. I also gave him as much time as he needed to move his things out and let him know over and over again that I loved and supported him and that I would miss him so much.
Overall, it was a pretty decent breakup but I still made the decision to go no contact for at least a month so I could truly process this and accept that things were over.
We never unfollowed each other on social media and he still watches all my stories so one day last week I decided to check his Twitter and, to my surprise, there’s a slew of negative posts subtweeting me. Multiple posts claiming I “fumbled” him, that I wasn’t kind or supportive, that I wasn’t worth his time, etc.
To say I’m furious is an understatement. I haven’t told anyone but my closest friends about the reasons for the breakup because I didn’t want to embarrass him so seeing him trashing me publicly when I not only accepted the breakup and gave him his space but also showed empathy, understanding, and love AS I WAS GETTING DUMPED is messing with my head. I feel like I’m being framed as a bad person and an unworthy or unvaluable partner for no real reason by someone I have genuine care for.
I am SO, so tempted to break no contact just to set him straight, but that feels like such a dumb reason to break no contact—especially when I’m so deep into the healing process.
I’m just so, so upset about this and I cannot bring myself to stop thinking about this. I keep bouncing between feeling like I want to scream and crying into my pillow. The whole thing makes my heartbreak so much worse because I would never do something so immature and mean-spirited to him. This makes me feel like we were never even friends which makes all of this feel so much worse.
I hate to admit it but this is bothering me so much I’ve been thinking of responding to his tweets with the real reason we broke up or making my own petty tweets calling him broke, unsuccessful, etc but I’d hate to kick him in a time where he needs to be uplifted.
Any advice for how I can move past this?

Hi everyone. I hope it won't sound like I'm making a drama out of nothing but I'm just so upset.
Nine days ago I adopted a beautiful tortoiseshell and white, Marnie. She's settled in really well on the whole, though she can suddenly turn in the middle of being fussed.
Last night she slept on my bed and next to me to begin with. As I'm typing this she's hiding under it while I have a comforting drink at Costa.
Marnie was sick on Monday night and had been making some quite concerning yowling noises, sometimes before using her litter tray. So I rang the vet yesterday and they booked her in for 9.15 this morning.
However, I just couldn't get her into the carrier even putting food and a toy inside. She ended up trying to scratch and bite me as well as hissing at me. I left home in tears and don't want to go back there because now I think she'll still be hiding and hating me. I'm feeling so torn and wondering if I've blown the bond we've established because she's only been with me such a short time - and I love her so much 😪😪

hi guys, this has been killing me so I need some input from strangers
a week ago when I was coming back from work the cutest dog followed me around the bus station and I just couldn't leave him there. he was covered in dirt, shaking from the cold, extremely weak and had no identification whatsoever. i waited half an hour but he didn't leave my side and no one came to claim him so i took him home (in my country it's unusual to microchip pets, they just wear a collar with their name and owner's info which in this case was non existent).
Quick context: I live with my boyfriend of 3 years in our apartment with our dog (he's almost the size of a labrador), we're both very passionate about our pet. At first we didn't consider adopting the rescue due to space limitations and the extra energy and money we would need to have another dog, so we put the rescued pup for adoption. I discussed this with my bf prior to bringing the pup home, he agreed that we could foster him for a while and we'd only keep him in case nobody wanted him.
However, we (especially me) grew extremely attached to the dog, in ways I wasn't expecting. He's already sleeping with us on the bed and he follows me around the house everywhere I go.
The problem is: Two days after the rescue, a very nice lady sent me a message asking to meet the dog. I took him to see her and she and the pup really clicked. The only reason she didn't take him home right away is because there were some heatlth things about the dog that needed to be sorted out first.
Now wmthat we have the test results, he could go home to her but the thing is that I don't want to give him away. This dog is so special and we're already too attached to each other. But on the other hand, I understand I have given the other lady so much hope about the dog and created expectations that I'm responsible for. She had already thought of a name and made several plans with him. To make things worse, this week is her late dog's death anniversary and also her birthday, so she was hoping the dog would come in as a beacon of joy during these occasions.
I'm honestly lost. I'd love to keep the dog, but my life right now is pretty messy, although I know I would do anything and everything for the pup. The woman that wants to adopt him is so kind that she told me she loved him and wants him, but will respect my decision no matter what it is. My boyfriend also said he will support me no matter what I choose.
The thing is I don't know how to make this decision. I feel like I'd be so happy with him, but I'd feel guilty from taking him away from her. But everytime I think about saying goodbye to him, my heart breaks and I start crying. I know the dog would receive so much love with either of us, but I don't know what to do.
