Advice for weight loss

2023.06.10 20:25 ronandireane Advice for weight loss

Hi all, I've just been through a 1 year long weight loss battle that should have taken me 3 months max if done correctly, so figured I'd share some advice for anyone wanting to lose weight but struggling. I would always restrict food for 3-5 days, stick to my diet and training perfectly, then when I felt stressed or some life event happened, I would eat 4000 calories in one sitting, next day start dieting again, etc etc.

Here's the ONLY thing that actually worked for me long term and I think will work for most of you:
Only buy high volume low calorie dense foods. Chicken, steak, 0 cal or very low cal sauces (still taste really good), low fat yoghurt, fruits, vegetables, salad, potatoes, whole grain crackers, low calorie whole grain wraps, for drinks you can buy 0 cal sparkling ice tea for example.
Do NOT have the typical easy-to-binge or high calorie foods at home (pizza, bread, pasta, cheese, etc.).

Why did this work for me? Well, regardless of how much willpower a person has, they will eventually "cheat" on their diet. Whether that be after 3 days, 10 days, heck, even 100 days. If you literally only have high volume low calorie foods at home, even if you "binge", it won't go over a few hundred calories. Try binging 4000 calories of lean chicken breast, not doable. You'll feel way less hungry throughout the day, because 1. high cal foods are designed to make you hungry even when your body has all the nutrients it needs, 2. you're not really restricted in what you can eat. You can eat 3-4 big meals of these foods and still be at around 1500-2500 calories and feel completely full. And when you do inevitably "binge" once in a while, it won't be much calorie wise, and you can just burn it off with a short walk.

Reason I wanted to share this is I've been in a binge-restrict cycle for 9 straight months last year and I know what it is. You can have the strongest willpower in the world but if you are eating the wrong foods that are quite literally designed to make you want to keep eating, you're destined to lose. I didn't want to change the type of food I ate because (obviously) I like pizza, pasta, and all that stuff. It's fine to have these here and there when out with friends, but if you have them at home, you WILL binge on foods like that eventually. Try it for a week, and feel the massive difference it makes. Went from chubby to six pack abs in 3 months now while feeling completely satisfied nutrition wise.

2023.06.10 18:17 AwkwardBurritoChick [Transcript] MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD MUKBANG

In the absence of a Highlight which cannot be done at the moment, we are providing a Transcript of Chantal's recent content.
Note the transcript is autogenerated and may have some typos or other grammar challenges, on top of the speech patterns of Chantal in general.
[Intro Hello Foodie Beauties Music]
hey guys. hey guys, hey hey! look what I have...I know I have henna [laughs] yes!
um, so I will show you guys in, uh, maybe I'll show you ~ yeah, I'll show you at the end of the video, um, the process. like, a bit of the process for that. I'll be getting it done so and a little bit of...a yeah, a little bit mini Vlog of me going to get it done. so check the end of the video or watch this whole video if you want... and uh, yeah, but this is the henna and uh it's kind of, um, like, little dry. bits will fall off but the tattoo part like the stain will remain underneath. so, yeah, don't like me. so, I don't have my ring on right now...
so, I have some of my favorite food here. I have some tabula tomb which is garlic sauce. taboola is parsley salad and it has like bulgur, Tomatoes, lemon juice, parsley... I think onion... so, I have also some grilled... some grilled chicken and some... a little bit of fries and some pita bread ~fresh pita~ oh yeah! it's really fresh! yum! and uh, Diet Pepsi... so, let's dig in! I'm so hungry ~ like you don't even know!
I'm back to trying the intermittent fasting. well, I did today... anyway, I don't always succeed.. you know, I see people say "you're a liar"... "I thought you were doing one meal a day"... okay... so what happened is, I tried the one meal a day and I obviously fell off. like, I couldn't do it... so I went back to eating whatever...you know? but um I'm gonna take some tabbouleh and some hummus....
Beauty bites and Bismillah
Julia is in the room with Salah on the bed. this is half a chicken, pickle so this will last about a week I've always wanted to try it
[Music] sorry
all right we just got home and I didn't eat... what is this grilled pepper? looks hot. I have an idea...tomato...tabouli
what is your guys's favorite Middle Eastern food? [Music]
okay
ah man, I was hungry can you tell?
oh, hi [Laughter] how are you... sorry excuse me
I'm on the fence about intermittent fasting with people you know he used to have the issues with food because by the time I eat there's like bread under the...I'm seriously so hungry that I just want to eat all night. that's why I think like I should eat smaller meals throughout the day... but...there are so many health benefits about um, fasting. I mean you can do any search. so, that's why I like I admire it but...it's so hard
it was so hard to like do like. you know, even with Ramadan I didn't really lose weight because, like, I would eat all night you know so...anyway ...I'm trying to figure it out, you know? it's tough. it's tough for anyone.
um
so the henna took like the actual applying it. didn't take too long it was the drawing that took long. so I think it's really nice like I think... it's really really cool, hahaha. that's just me. well no, a lot of people here find that cool.
um
I love peppers it's not really spicy, that pepper. I love hummus. So yeah, I mean not much to talk about I guess. I feel like eating something relatively healthy, you know what I mean?
I guess, I mean, like, not Burgers and Fries. I mean that's the thing -it depends on your version of what healthy is like. some people only eat raw meat. my digestive system, would like, fail instantly...raw meat only...hey to each their own. like raw carnivore diet, they'll eat like raw meat, but like, a raw egg in the middle.
[Note: This raw meat diet comment indicates Chantal is 'researching' diets on YouTube again, as she's done in the Bibi era]
oh, sorry...I don't even like eating my Burgers medium rare... like I can't...well done for me, thank you. I don't know... no fiber at all and then people some people think fiber is BS. some people think fiber is the most healthiest thing...depends who you ask, you know what I mean?
excuse me
so I've made health and nutrition it's...just..but there are some things I think, universally are accepted like processed foods are bad. I'm calling it, like, that kind of thing [laughs] there's some people who eat only fruit... remember I was gonna do that after eating a whole bunch of like junk for like so long?
[Note: Yes, Chantal we remember the various '100% full vegan', and raw fruit diets you did like Raw Kristina that lasted a day due to not knowing that a case of mangos won't ripen overnight and Bibi having to throw a case of mangos out, even though mangos are mmm your favorite, yum!]
sometimes you just crave just eating, like, juicy ripe hydrating fruit especially if you...salty, fatty stuff...you know? so that's where it came from
hmm
so like, if you guys know, maybe some of you don't...but there's like a ton of reaction channels who react to me...ly I don't know what they're pissed off about this time...oh I think that that the fact that I got a cat. I think it's the fact that I don't know if they put stuff about me - I, I really don't care. So they're all mad - I think that, I got a cat, I'm like that's it...clutching my pearls... I'm not gonna watch her for three days and we're gonna donate to a charity and then after the three days... what?! you're gonna go back to reaction because you realize no one gives a crap about you unless you're reacting to me
like, think that they can, like, intimidate people to do something in their life like, that actual power, like, they did that with amberlynn too like, um there's people the community this particular - Community is so dumb. like, because, like, it's just horrible like, one time Amber Lynn amberlynn Reed was, like, she struggles with her weight. it's not rocket science to know that it's hard to lose weight,
okay, so one day she decided to eat a shrimp ring on video. so, how did people react to that very maturely. they decided to set up live streams and count her subscribers going down like counting how many subscribers she lost
like, let's all give her a blackout... let's all black her out. let's all unsubscribe and teach her a lesson! their words not mine and so because she ate shrimp because a fat woman ate shrimp if people like that unsubscribe for me...good. I don't... I would rather not have people like that in my community, honestly.
like, I'm trying to bully and intimidate someone into not eating shrimp I guess. I don't know. I never got the point... but it's so ridiculous
like, if you're so fed up with her choices and decisions with what she puts in her body then just simply just unsubscribe and don't watch. why make a huge spectacle of it?
like, you think that unsubscribing is going to cure her eating disorder or her issues with food? I mean... anyways... ignorant people who don't know how it works, basically
so um so, I guess they're trying that crap with me but it ain't gonna fly because I don't care........you know, just letting you know... but...I will say one thing...I find being called a cat killer from the community of...somebody...who actually did kill her dog, "Maggie" is pretty funny. you were gonna put your cat down for...having curable illnesses but you put your dog down for having anxiety so what curable illnesses?! I have like 21 years of age.... like, really!
[Note: Chantal decided to go super low here. Like super hot dog is juicy on this; definitely jabby jabby to provoke. This is petty served with a side of snark sauce. Oof.]
okay anyway do what you want....keep the block out going longer... I enjoy it
anyways you know I used to rage a lot because I just couldn't get over like the hypocrisy and this certain Community. but now, I saw I... I really did see, like, a quote where it's, like, people are just "oh, you can't control what people are gonna say they're always going to say something stupid" . so, yeah,,live your life man. that's your lesson of the day
I could live off of tabouli hummus and bread...and yes I promise that's the last time I'm talking about this crap with anything...with anything related to this juvenile....this juvenile community. honestly!?z?, which I wish that whole Community would just die out... but
[Note: Chantal is struggling for content that isn't boring and doesn't throw her off the regime Salah has her on. FFG has done other content on other reality shows and Youtubers and has a good following, better views, and more people in the live chats. It can be debated that Chantal needs FFG for her need to have a perpetual percieved enemy more than FFG needs Chantal for content.]
um who knows
oh my gosh! this hummus is really good! I think this will be my last hummus in tabouli sandwich. probably not the most interesting mukbang but I'll probably just do mukbangs like this
like, where I'm just it's just whatever....I'm eating today, pretty much, you know?
how do you guys like to unwind after a long day? we've been doing cuddling in bed with the cat and watching horror movies.
MMmm that was good. from now on the only thing I will... my channel will give attention to is my beezers, followers, um, living my life ...that kind of thing. by the way you can get - excuse me - you can get red henna as well
I actually I find the combination of foods that make me the most satisfied the longest is a bit of everything, like, some kind of starch or bread. protein. beans, like, these kind of proteins keep me so full because they have a lot of fiber and protein meat and greens. very filling meal. so, I'll probably have my Nest Cafe and then it'll be bedtime ~ oh my gosh ~ I can't wait to go to bed. I'm not kidding!you know I'm not kidding. I don't have to convince you when it comes to sleeping. I have no trouble anymore. I used to, like, went through a....period where like sleep was bad but I wasn't like properly medicated. so, now that I'm on my medication and...um I think it will be even better when I start back at the gym but ~oh my gosh~ we just been really busy lately.
so but I think once we get back to the gym, he and I both want to finish out our membership. I think I have like a month and a half left of my membership. so even just to feel better, you know? I...always feel better... like, I feel, like, when I accomplish something too like my body feels good for putting it through...through that so your body releases those endorphins... and then, you know, exercise just always makes you feel good so... now I'm tired. I still have a lot to do before I get to sleep.
anyway...thanks guys for watching and listening to me and I will, um, talk to you later ~~~bye guys
[Music]
hey guys, so I'm just in the car here waiting for Salah to get in here and then we're gonna go get my henna done. first, I'm having henna done. um, I'm not sure what design I'm gonna get but let's see... when I get there and um, yeah, henna is actually, um, something that's very acceptable in Islam and, um, there's a Hadith that says that, you know,....women, um, distinguish their hands, their femininity, um, with a the henna on their hands... so, um, yeah, it's acceptable in Islam and I'm gonna go get a nice design and I'll show you guys when I'm done.
yeah, oh one thing I love about our new car... is the sunroof goes all the way the length of the entire vehicle I think that's pretty cool! anyways... all right, so I'll see you guys soon
[Music] thank you [Music] [Music] thank you [Music]

Pavilions 50 cal sourdough, I think I lub joo.
Went on Oregon trip to see long time bestie. Found this incredible, thick, fluffy soft mouthfeel 90 calorie/slice Sourdough called “Grandma Sycamore’s Home Maid (sic) Sourdough”. Spelling is correct..
I got home and must have hit up 6 different store chains in the south bay LA area looking for it after checking their website. No luck! :( my sourdough life is incomplete.
But I did happen to find this gem, 50 cal/slice sourdough. And it doesn’t taste like fucking cardboard either. It’s pretty good. Am just AMAZED how low calorie it is. I even wondered if it was a misprint!
I’m like, making French toast with it and egg whites. Each slice couldn’t be more than 75 calories+toppings. Next time I make some plate worthy ones I’ll post.
Anyway just wanted to share, I love this bread. Kroger at Ralph’s has a 60 cal runner up btw, still evaluating.

2023.06.10 00:04 Theveganqueen1997 25 [F4R] Georgia USA: Seeking a long lasting relationship (serious inquiries only)

Please READ throughly: If you are not able to deal with raw emotions then don’t respond. I’m tired of people ghosting me and don’t have time for that. Also if you’re quick to block or ghost people don’t bother messaging me.
Don’t message me to waste my time. Do Not message me with hate and disdain. I’m a nice person and only want a real connection. Greetings, I'm from Georgia in the United States. I've been lonely for quite some time and find it hard to find a soulmate in IRL. What I'm looking for is someone who I can connect with and have wholesome conversations with. I want to be able to love my future soulmate just as much as they do me. The biggest part of a long lasting relationship is the ability to communicate openly without worry. I'd love if my significant other has a dark sense of humor and continues to crack me up non-stop. As cheesy as it may sound I long for those late night calls and cute texts. I want for us to drive out the very best in each other; become our support system. A little bit about me is that I grew up in Florida and not too long ago moved to Georgia. I'm currently in college to become an RN but I'm also passionate about cosmetic chemistry and nutrition. I'm passionate about science and theoretical applications especially within the medical field. I'd appreciate if my partner is open minded about varying topics and welcomes healthy conversations. Appearance wise I'm not too picky as long as the individual is well groomed and practices basic hygiene. To add on I enjoy playing video games, exercising (I've been slacking off lately), cooking and baking (vegan), playing board games, reading, exploring nature, playing sports (basketball and soccer) for fun, and trying new experiences. I hope to travel someday. I would prefer if you were closer to Georgia or are in Georgia. Please read! Some red flags to be aware of: - I want to have kids some day and would like for us to be on the same page. If you’re unable to see yourself with kids in the future then this wouldn’t work. -If you smoke any kind of substance or do forbidden substances then this won’t work. - If you are narcissistic or highly controlling this won’t work. A relationship is part of a teamwork and no one should intentionally put the other person down. - If you want to know ,one of my red flags just message me.

2023.06.09 21:49 Present-Violinist-96 Zoe Nutrition Feedback

Zoe Nutrition Feedback
For anyone on the fence about trying out Zoe, I thought I would do a 1 month review.
I recently got back the results for the: blood sugar tests, blood fat test and gut health test. I am thrilled with the results and the way that it now rates my meals and my foods perfectly catered to my own biology.
Wearing the continuous blood glucose monitor was a highlight. It was amazing to see my blood sugar responses to foods in real time. Our bodies truly do react differently to foods. I was surprised that hard cider had no effect on my own blood sugar. (I don’t drink regularly, but had a social event.) I was surprised that certain foods, that I would not suspect to have a negative impact on me, do affect me negatively. Especially GF bread, spiked my curve the highest I’d seen.
Once you have your test results back, the app rates each food for the impact of all three categories: blood sugar response, blood fat response and gut microbiome effect. The educational insights have also surprised me. I love constantly researching nutrition, and I’ve learned things that I didn’t already know.
I’ve added my microbiome results for anyone interested in seeing what it looks like. Although, much more information and the full contents of your gut are included, I’ve only attached one screenshot because that’s all it lets me upload here for the post.
For anyone interested that would like a discount code:

2023.06.09 21:41 Special-Dimension158 Just want to formally (informally) say hello and share a lovely thing that happened

Hello hello! (Don't mind me, i'm hyper today, but still wanted to share coz I've been feeling drained lately and it was a lovely thing :D)
I was finally diagnosed AuDHD in Decemeber. I knew about the ADHD (though it was removed from my records in my adolescence because they couldn't medicate it (turns out my brain doesn't produce enough of an enzyme that's needed to break down and utilize many psych meds)), but I've only suspected autism since one of my older brothers was diagnosed about 6 years ago and he was diagnosed for most of the same things that have made my life traumatic and difficult. (I also suspect RSD and PDA (I was a terror as a teenager and very difficult as a child. Hello, old ODD diagnosis!) I think that's enough for background.
I've always had sleep issues (lifeline night owl, often staying awake for 24-38 hours for little to no reason, doing absolutely nothing important, yet wired and often fixating on things for hours), but what i haven't had is suddenly getting hit with drowsiness to the point of dozing of around 4pm with CONSISTENCY. Started a little over a month ago, not sure why. Anyway, I decided a couple days ago to listen to my body when it tells me to go to sleep. (I receive SSI and have little to no life, so I have the luxury of all the time to experiment.)
Yesterday was the first time i listened and took a nap when the drowsy hit. Got woken up by my partner telling me supper was ready (I'm the one that usually makes the food). It was lovely and he got creative with what we had available. Did you know toasted cheesy garlic bread makes a good base for making your own 'gourmet' burger? Totally does :D

TL:DR Saying hello and sharing a lovely thing my partner did yesterday on a day I attempted some self-care I don't normally do

Crisp, autumn days seem to require the kind of warmth that your favorite sweater just can't provide. When it's especially nippy, a warm bowl of soup or apple crisp may seem like better bets--despite the fact that these comforting dishes are fattening and high calorie.
Thankfully you can stay trim this fall without giving up your favorite homemade fare. While it may be hard to believe, there are loads of smart, calorie-slashing substitutions that can be made to fall recipes that will allow you to indulge without the guilt. Better yet, none of them will drastically alter the flavor of your food! Ready to fall into the flavors of autumn without expanding your waistline? We've rounded up a few genius ways to do it.
Why should kids be the only ones who can enjoy mac and cheese? Jessica Cording, a registered dietitian in New York, suggests adding pureed butternut squash or pumpkin into your cheese sauce, so you can dial back on the milk and cheese. Aside from eliminating some of the fat and calories, Cording's trick adds fiber along with potassium and vitamins A and C. "Because the flavor is so mild, even veggie-averse family members will be on board," she tells us.
There's a healthier way to get your pumpkin drink fix--and it doesn't involve going to Starbucks. To make a no-added-sugar version at home, blend unsweetened almond milk with a frozen banana, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract. Get your protein fix while decreasing calories and saturated fat by using turkey, lean grass-fed ground beef, or a combination of the two, in your recipe. "Because meatloaf is so versatile, you can change out the ingredients depending on the flavors you want," says Kim Larson, a Seattle-based registered dietitian. Mix in low-cal sources of flavors such as chipotle chilies in adobo sauce, canned green chilies, lentils, or sugar-free canned corn. And don't be afraid to pack your meatloaf with veggies--a trick that will allow you to use less meat. (Which can be a major money saver!) Chopped mushrooms, celery, and bell peppers all pair well with meatloaf in terms of flavor and bolster the vitamin power of the dish, too. Another trick we love? Swapping out nutrient-void breadcrumbs for oatmeal, which also just so happens to be one of these 15 Awesome Ways to Lose Weight With Oatmeal.
Classic tomato soup recipes call for high-calorie ingredients like butter and heavy cream. To make a skinnier version of the cozy elixir, Erin Macdonald, a California-based registered dietitian, suggests pureeing canned Roma tomatoes, a jar of roasted bell peppers, low-sodium veggie broth, and fresh basil. If you prefer a creamier texture, steer clear of the cream and add unsweetened cashew milk instead--a simple swap that you can actually use to make any thick soup more waistline-friendly. Why cashew milk? Aside from its rich texture and mild flavor, it gives you healthy fats, protein, fiber, and minerals such as magnesium and potassium, which help regulate blood sugar, explains Andy Bellatti, a registered dietitian from Las Vegas.
Studies show that people often think a dessert that contains fruit is healthier and lower in calories than those that don't--even though that's typically not the case. And apple crisp is no exception. True, there's fiber and vitamin C in the apples, but traditional apple crisp recipes also includes butter and sugar--big calorie bombs. "I recommend simply roasting apples with some cinnamon, vanilla extract, and lemon juice," says Amy Gorin, a registered dietitian in New Jersey, sharing her own recipe for the fall must-have. Still craving the cooling scoop of ice cream on top? Try Greek yogurt, which is lower in sugar and calories, but still offers the creamy texture you crave.
Creamy, buttery mashed potatoes can pack on calories and carbs, but not when you use cauliflower or a blend of turnips, rutabagas, parsnips, and carrots. Steam the veggies and mash them up with fat-free half-and-half, light cream cheese, low-sodium chicken broth, and a tablespoon of grass-fed butter. Larson recommends adding Parmesan or goat cheeses, too, because they add tons of flavor. Don't forget to add garlic, chives and thyme, to reap the benefits of their inflammation-fighting and flavor-boosting super powers.
Whether or not you realize it, your game day chili is probably a major calorie fest. Ax fat from your go-to recipe by using a lean protein such as chicken, turkey, or bison. To cut back on salt, select lower-sodium beans and canned tomatoes. Like to serve your chili over rice? Instead, opt for steamed greens or cauliflower rice, which can be made by grating or processing cauliflower and heating it with a touch of oil in a pan. Think that's creative? There are tons of other interesting ways to cook with cauliflower, and you'll find a number of them in our report, 17 Genius Ideas for Cooking with Cauliflower.
If baking with pumpkin is your autumn delight, check out this recipe for vegan pumpkin bread by blogger Jeanine of Love and Lemons. (We love that it swaps out eggs for heart-healthy ground flaxseed. ) Even if you don't want to forgo making your go-to rendition, you can healthify your recipe by sneaking in a cup of shredded zucchini, which just so happens to taste awesome with pumpkin.
Pizza is about as comforting as comfort food gets, but you don't have to make it with a cauliflower crust to boost its health factor. Instead, Jessica Fishman Levinson, a registered dietitian from New York, suggests using protein-packed chickpea flour to make something called farinata. It originated in the Mediterranean and is essentially an unleavened pancake made of chickpea flour, water, and olive oil. After it's baked, it can be served with pizza toppings so you can give into that craving for a slice a bit more sensibly. And to ensure your slice is a super healthy one, be sure to use one of the winning jars of pasta sauce from our exclusive report, The 40 Best and Worst Pasta Sauces--Ranke!
Can roasted veggies get any healthier? If you typically toss your produce with sugary sauces such made with brown sugar and maple syrup, most certainly, says Gorin. Instead, roast carrots, turnips and whatever else you like in pomegranate juice, which is packed with antioxidants and gives it a nice seasonal flavor. If you prefer a more savory dish try roasting your veggies in olive oil, sea salt, and herbs (like rosemary and oregano).

2023.06.09 18:43 Serotoninneeded Stop saying it's easy to eat cheap and healthy in America

I'm not sure if this needs a TW, it probably doesn't, but I will add one. I have chronic pain and I'm living off of food stamps. I keep seeing people saying that eating healthy in America is easy and that you have no excuse, even if you are poor. I feel like the people who say that are either 1.Not American and just don't realize how bad our food is. 2. Know how bad it is but they don't care, they're just bsing as an excuse to hate fat Americans. 3. Wealthy enough to not understand the correlation between being poor and eating unhealthy. Or 4. They're American, and they eat an unhealthy diet but they don't realize it. They think they're healthy, but they're not.
I really try to eat healthy but I feel like every grocery shopping trip is just another ordeal where I freak out because they raised the price of something healthy. When you're struggling to afford groceries and see that oatmeal has gotten more expensive, but then notice that the INSTANT oatmeal that is 99% sugar is much cheaper, you might make the unhealthy choice.
All the "fruit juice" is just sugar water with barely any nutritional value, but it's way cheaper than fruit. The whole wheat bread is more expensive than the sugary white bread.
I think people assume that every unhealthy person is just eating donuts and pizza everyday. Well, some are lol. That stereotype exists for a reason. But others are just making choices that are ALMOST healthy, except that all the inexpensive food is full of additives like salt, sugar, and corn syrup. Even our honey is mostly corn syrup. No wonder so many of the skinny people here are fasting constantly. It feels different to eat three meals a day without having too many calories.
Anyway if you're gonna tell me I'm wrong and that eating healthy is sooo easy, at least explain how. I actually want advice.

Is this nutritional info incorrect?
This is a type of flat bread. The nutritional information shows that the total carbs for one serving is 39 mg. That’s milligrams, not grams. If the carb count in one serving is 14% of the daily recommended allowance how can this serving have only 39 mg?
