2023.04.02 14:26 Wrong-Smile-3734 Has anyone watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas while tripping?
I watched this on a megadose of shroomies and felt like this movie was the literal peak of entertainment. Literally the funniest, most relatable movie I’ve ever seen and I was completely absorbed into the plot and the shit they were doing on screen.
My friends watched this movie and immediately after watched the Meaning of Life by Monty Python on 3200 ug of acid between the five of them. Said it was an experience that opened their minds so much it changed every single one of them after the trip was over. I wonder if these movies have some sort of magical properties while you’re tripping. Just imo. Same with Rick and Morty while tripping.

2023.04.02 14:22 Infamous-Tax2015 Ricks book tour [general]
Just wondering if it's worth bringing a book to ricks book tour in the hopes to possibly get it signed, it's my first time attending one of the events and I know Rick has stated on his website that he can no longer sign all the books people bring due to the size of our fandom. But does anyone have experience with this and is it worth bringing one of my books just in case he decides to sign a few? Also anyone who has been to one is love to hear experiences and what to expect!

| Hope this isn't a daft question, but not sure what my wall is made of. Is this concrete underneath with primer painted on top? Want to fill these holes and paint over, not sure if I should put some primer on first? Going to hang up some blinds after so it doesn't need to be perfect, but still want to do it right. Any suggestions on how to make the wallpaper look better? submitted by imladjenovic to DIYUK [link] [comments] |

2023.04.02 13:31 walterherbst The Tragic Story of Rose Cheramie, Carlos Marcello, and Jack Ruby
In 1963, Rose Cheramie was a heroin addict with a long list of prostitution and other arrests. According to a Louisiana State Police report from mid-November 1963, she worked “as a dope runner for Jack Ruby,” and had “worked in the night club for Ruby and that she was forced to go to Florida with another man whom she did not name to pick up a shipment of dope to take back to Dallas and that she didn’t want to do this thing but she had a young child and that they would hurt her child if she didn’t.” On November 20, two days before the JFK assassination, she was thrown out of a brothel in Louisiana by the two men she was traveling with and was hit by a car. Suffering from heroin withdrawal, she was taken to East Louisiana State Mental Hospital by Lt. Fruge of the Louisiana State Police to sober up.
During the ride to the hospital, Rose told Fruge she was traveling from Florida to Dallas with two Italian looking men and they were going to Dallas to kill Kennedy. They were actually Cuban exiles active in the war against Fidel Castro. One was Sergio Arcacha Smith, who worked closely with JFK assassination suspect Guy Banister in New Orleans. David Lewis, a former employee of Banister, told the New Orleans DA’s Office that he had witnessed a meeting in the late summer of 1963 at Mancuso’s Restaurant in New Orleans between Arcacha, Lee Harvey Oswald and a man named Carlos whose last name Lewis did not know.
Dr. Victor Weis, a psychiatrist at the hospital, confirmed that Cheramie also told him that she knew both Ruby and Oswald and had seen them together on several occasions in Ruby’s club. The word spread throughout the hospital that Cheramie had predicted the JFK assassination and had implicated Jack Ruby. On November 25, Louisiana State Police Captain Ben Morgan came to the hospital to hear her story first-hand. The next day, Fruge and Morgan flew in a small private jet to Houston and everything she said checked out. Customs found her reservation at the Rice Hotel; the boat identified by Rose, the SS Maturata, was due in port soon; and an agent confirmed that the Dallas man holding Cheramie’s child was a suspected drug dealer. Rose said the seaman aboard the ship was named Luther, and Houston police records show that “Luther” may have been Joseph P. Luke, a narcotic trafficker who was closely associated with Joseph Civello of the Dallas Mafia, who worked for Carlos Marcello. Customs corroborated Rose’s information that the Houston and Dallas Mafia families were involved, and both “had records or reputations for narcotics [and] white slavery [prostitution].” However, when Captained Morgan phoned Capt. Fritz of the Dallas Police to relay the evidence they had, amazingly he was told they were not interested in Rose’s story.
Not surprisingly, customs agents lost track of the seaman they were tailing, and they didn’t bother to interview the Mafia families involved or place them under surveillance. The Houston police wanted to drop the investigation. The Secret Service filed a report, but that was it. Years later, Congressional investigators wrote that when they looked into the matter, “US Customs was unable to locate documents and reports related to its involvement in the Cheramie investigation,” although such involvement was not denied.
Also in November 1963, Carlos Marcello was acquitted at trial in the government’s latest attempt to have him deported, but Rose would attempt one last time to convince authorities to take down the New Orleans Mafia boss. In August 1965, she told FBI agents that “individuals associated with the syndicate were running prostitution rings in several southern cities such as Houston and Galveston, Texas…furthermore, she claimed she had information about a heroin deal operating from a New Orleans ship.” Congressional investigators found that her story checked out, just as her November 1963 information had. An FBI “call to the Coast Guard verified an ongoing narcotics investigation of the ship” Cheramie had named. The prostitution ring she described sounded very much like an operation run by Marcello lieutenant Nofio Pecora, whom Jack Ruby had called just three weeks before JFK’s assassination. However, as in 1963, the New Orleans FBI, who turned a blind eye to Marcello’s illegal operations, dropped the case. Had the FBI and the Federal Bureau of Narcotics pursued the matter, they would have uncovered a heroin trail through New Orleans that reached all the way to France.
One month after Rose contacted the FBI in August 1965, she was dead. Congressional investigators found that “Cheramie died of injuries received from an automobile accident on a strip of highway near Big Sandy, Tex., in the early morning of September 4, 1965. The driver stated Cheramie had been lying in the roadway and although he attempted to avoid hitting her, he ran over the top of her skull, causing fatal injuries.” Though her official autopsy records had disappeared by the time investigators had tried to find them, one medical file that survived said that Rose had a “deep punctuate stellate [star-shaped] wound above her right forehead.” Such a wound would not have been caused by a car or tire but could have been caused by a pistol fired next to her skull. Dr. Charles Crenshaw claimed in his book that the wound was consistent with “gunshot wounds - that is, when a gun barrel is placed against a victim’s body and discharged. It is especially applicable to a gunshot wound of the skull.”
And the Mafia in Louisiana and Texas continued operation as if nothing had happened. For more stories like this, check out the books, It Did Not Start With JFK, The Decades of Events That Led to the Assassination of John F. Kennedy, Volumes 1 &2, published by Sunbury Press.

2023.04.02 13:28 sararainbow36 Desktop wallpaper not changing. Help?
Hello. I have an Asus ROG Zephyrus Gaming Notebook, and I want to change my desktop's wallpaper. When I go into my Settings >Personalization >Background and click on the image I want, it changes back to my current wallpaper within a few seconds. I've tried restarting my laptop to see if that fixed the issue, but it didn't.
The image I want to use was a default image from when I got my computer last month. It's still saved under recent images, but I haven't found a way to save that wallpaper to my device, either. If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
(Side note: I have Windows 11. Most information I've seen on Google is for Windows 10, which isn't entirely accurate to what I see in my settings.)
EDIT: RESOLVED! In Armoury Crate, there was a setting that would override background settings in Windows. I turned that off and was able to keep the wallpaper I wanted to use.

2023.04.02 13:20 ZengANiu23 I hate that Chris Webber isn't talked about more often.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he is better than Duncan, KG or Barkley, but he deserves a lot more attention and love. Here's why:
He championed a new way of playing, which is the forefather of what we are seeing today.
Before Stephen Curry and Steve Nash made jump-shooting and fast-paced offense a thing in the league, it was Chris Webber who pushed for such a style, along with head coach Rick Adelman. The Kings of the early 2000s were the most exciting team in the league. The success of Webber's Kings paved the way for further experiments.
Not only did he championed a way of playing, he made the Kings relevant, something no other player has been able to, in the modern NBA.
No need to debate if that series was rigged or not, the Kings were, without a doubt, a legitimate contender in the early 2000s. In fact, Webber wasted little time. He became a King in the 1999 lockout season and immediately made an impact. The Jazz and the Lakers both needed 5 games to eliminate the Kings from the first round (back then it was best of five).
It is also noteworthy that he managed to do this without a co-star. Sure, Divac and Bibby were All-Stars (arguably borderline) but Webber never truly had another co-star. In an era of dynamic duos, Webber was doing it alone. I'm not insinuating that he did a Hakeem-equivalent job, but while the Kings had a solid supporting cast, Webber never had another one he could simply dump the ball to and just sit back.
Webber was a very different big in a traditional era and was still one of the best.
Yes, Pippen and even Grant Hill did acted as playmakers as were point forwards before Webber anchored the offense for the Kings. But Pippen and Hill were SFs while Webber was a PF. He was one of the first big men to act as a playmaker for the Kings. I'm not saying Webber dribbled the ball upcourt for the Kings, but it was very obvious that Webber was one of the key players orchestrating the offense. An offense that produced league-high points consistently, breaching the 100 points average in an era that most teams couldn't.
Webber was a beast all-around.
In his prime, Webber was a 25 ppg double-double with 5 apg and a 1.5 spg/bpg. Impressive on both ends. He could score, rebound (hello rebouding title in 1999) and pass. He was a good defender, able to both guard the paint and also being able to play the passing lanes.
It's a huge shame he was only inducted into the HoF in 2021. This man deserves a lot more love.

2023.04.02 13:19 walterherbst The Tragic Story of Rose Cheramie, Carlos Marcello, and the JFK Assassination

2023.04.02 13:15 rovax93366 Need help figuring out how I can renovate walls in apartment
Hello everyone!
I am considering to renovate the walls in my apartment and give them a fresh look. Currently all of them have this wallpapetexture on them (that is how I bought the apartment) and I am not sure how I can go about painting.
It is also not white everywhere, in some places is more yellowish (probably from old age).
Should I take it all off and then paint or can I paint over it?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

2023.04.02 12:26 bobaparagon 36M - looking for people to voice chat, watch things with or play games!
I'm looking for someone to chat with or voice call with frequently or semi-frequently. Someone chill, open minded and understanding. We could play some PC games, watch anime/shows/movies together or just talk about life. It doesn't even have to be that serious. We can keep it shallow or attempt to go in deep. Don't mind at all if you're shy or awkward. No pressure to continue chatting if we're not connecting or vibing. I won't take it personally and I hope you won't either.
Please include some information about yourself when you message me Some info about myself that might be relevant:
- I'm Asian American
- Definitely more introverted
- Trying to do more outdoorsy things
- Born and raised in Southern California
- I love reading fantasies, manga, sci-fi, horror, and poorly written web novels
- I play on PC. Hit me up for some gaming sessions!
- Raised Buddhist but I'm not religious at all
- Big fan of crime procedural shows (Criminal Minds, Numbers, Psych), cartoons like Furturama/Avatar:TLA, Archer, Venture Bros, Rick and Morty, Simpsons, ect and anime (used to be a weeb)
